De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #29- Thurs 4/17

De que abrió los ojos, abrió los ojos

Grumps is rudely awakened by Diana, come to complain that Diego never came home last night.  Grumps thinks it's highly likely that Diego spent the night with "that woman," not that there's any reason to get all upset about it.  He tells Diana not to worry her little head…Grumps will take care of it.  "Now let me rest."

Diego's ready to go off half-cocked once he sees the video, but Irene tells him he needs to think first.

Vicente's old secretary stops by to visit and says such nice things about her old boss that you could knock Natalia over with a feather.

Diego is convinced that the baby is Oliverio's.  He tells Alberto to rewrite the agreement and Alberto says he can now demand a divorce--Diana can't "refuse" to give him one, since she's a cheater, and Diego doesn't have to give her a damn thing!  Diego calls the house and asks to speak to Diana.  He tells her he's been thinking and asks her to met him for a coffee.

Eleazar comes by to pick up his "wife" and is alarmed to see that Carmen isn't ready to go yet.  She fills him in on just how much work goes into getting the denizens of Garcia Central Station up and out the door every morning.  They end up laughing over how they're arguing like a real married couple.  It takes Carmen about two seconds to go to her room and throw on a fabulous dress, but she needs El's help zipping it up.  And I'm sure he's thinking he'd rather be unzipping it, but hey, Lupita's expecting them.

Diana gets herself ready for the coffee date, thinking a hot dress and a splash of perfume is going to save her flaming pants.  Diego heads out of Alonso's apartment, leaving the Als and Irene to wait.

Eleazar and Carmen finally get to school.  And boy do they look good together.  Lupita leads them into the classroom.

Rosa, Vicente's former secretary, comes to the house to visit him.  Her husband died, so she's come back to the DF from Tamaulipas.  She hadn't heard about the twins.  Vicente says that Rodrigo had an accident and ended up in a coma. *drink*

Lupita introduces her "dad" to the class.  Eleazar starts out by asking the kids what questions they have.  He explains that he carries a gun, but only when he's working.  He doesn't wear a uniform because he's not that kind of cop.  Yes, there are policewomen and sometimes they're even better than men.  He wants to talk to them about basic personal safety, like not letting strangers give you candy because you don't know what their intentions might be.

Vicente talks to Rosa about how much he misses Rodrigo and how he thinks about him every day.  And Diego married Diana, the skinny neighbor girl, but Diego's been sleeping around, but hopefully he'll leave his lover now that Diana's pregnant.  Vicente offers Rosa her old job back, saying every secretary since her has been worse than the last.  Rosa hadn't really considered working again, but Vicente gives her some time to think about his offer.

Diego shows up at the café with the laptop and immediately says that he's not there to talk reconciliation and he knows about her and Oliverio.  Diana tries to keep up the lie, but Diego shows her the video.  I hope he and/or the Als made a backup copy.

Eleazar's presentation was a big hit.  He gets a bunch of smoochies from Lupita.

Diana threatens to report Alonso to his ethics committee.  She tries to say that the thing with Oliverio was only every once in a while, so she's sure it's Diego's baby.  He says she'll have to prove that to him and tells her she'd better find somewhere else to live because he doesn't want her in his house.

The 'rents say goodbye to Lupita and walk away holding hands…until Carmen realizes it.  He's on the verge of kissing her when she asks if maybe they ought to be going.  Carmen!  Are we going to have to have a talk?

Diego calls the gang to tell them that Diana keeps insisting it's his kid.  Alberto takes the phone and tells him that he needs to demand a DNA test ASAP or it will slow down the divorce process.  Irene takes the phone to ask him how he's doing and offers to get together and talk.  Diego says he wants to be alone.  Alonso gives Irene a ride to Caprico, since she's sure he'll end up there at some point.

Carmen and Eleazar, in his cop car, reminisce about their good old school days.  Carmen asks why they drifted apart.  They start in on each other for their questionable relationship choices and Carmen calls a halt to the conversation.

Diana seethes and says she won't leave the house.  Oliverio calls her and she tells him she never wants to see him again, that Diego knows all about them.

Diego wanted to be alone to ponder how everyone else but him knew Diana was cheating.

Irene and Alonso compare notes about how/when each of them found out about Diana.  Irene tells Alonso that she ran into Tad at Natalia's house yesterday and she was totally fine.  Alonso gets a little jealous 'cause a few days ago, Tad was the devil incarnate and now he's more saintly than Mother Teresa.  Irene thinks it's funny at first, but then says she's not in the mood for a fight, so she's just going to end the conversation.  Irene's confused--she's just trying to do what she and Alonso talked about in therapy, not see him as the root of all evil.  She says she's happy that she can control herself when she sees him.  Alonso apologizes for reacting badly.

Natalia's worried about Diego, but she reminds herself that she's not there for anything but work.  So what if he's out there somewhere fulfilling some whim of his WIFE'S…she's just his SECRETARY, after all.  "I hate him!  No, I don't hate him…I love him…he could call me at least!  I am his secretary, after all.  I should know where he is!"

Irene shows up at the office (wearing the same hot pink color as Natalia!).  When she tells Natalia that Diego knows about Diana's cheating, Natalia is sad for him.  Natalia asks Irene if she wants to check out a vacant office and see if she likes it.  "Uh…I think you're missing the point of the news."  Natalia says she gets it, she's just not going to get her hopes up until they know whether the baby is Diego's.

Diego ends up at the clinic, visiting Rodrigo and telling him all his woes.  *drink*  Diego's wishing he was more like Rodrigo and wasn't taking this so hard.  Rodrigo opens his eyes for a second, alarming Diego, but for all Diego's prodding, he doesn't do it again.  Diego calls for the doctor.

Natalia asks about the office again, but Irene would rather talk to Diego first.  And she wants a cappuccino with cinnamon, like they make in Veracruz.  She goes down to the café to get one, but Natalia's not in the mood.

The doctor thinks maybe Diego was seeing things.  He agrees to do some testing and assign someone to keep an eye on Rodrigo full-time, in case he opens his eyes again.

Tad just happens to be in the café, giving an interview about his work and some fancy prize he turned down.  As the waiter brings the receipt, Tad's hand starts shaking.  He gets up and notices Irene ordering a coffee.  She agrees to stay and have her coffee there, with him.

Alonso is heading into his apartment just as Eleazar is coming home from Lupita's presentation.  El notices he's looking down and Alonso invites him in for a coffee, to talk.  That's, like, the fifth coffee mention this episode.  Now I want coffee!

Tad's happy to see Irene looking so well.  She talks about how helpful therapy has been.  Tad's not convinced she and Alonso "just" friends.  Irene thinks her special glow is just about how excited she is to carry out her mother's dream of Caprico branching out into clothing.  She's surprised that Tad remembered it was something her mother wanted to do.  Before things can get too heavy, Irene says she has to head back to the office.

Eleazar guesses pretty quickly that Diego is the "friend" who's being cheated on.  "You were with Alberto and Diego's your only married friend, unless you have another friend I don't know about."  Alonso is impressed with El's deductive skills.  Eleazar offers to help with Alonso's love problem, but as Al says "it's not the kind of thing that requires police help.  I'm in love with a patient."  "Diego's aunt.  I suspected it, but your reaction just confirmed it."  Alonso confesses he's been in love with her since elementary school.  She was always so happy, and she would hang out with the boys, even though she was older, she was a good dancer.  "The first time I saw her in a bikini, it almost laid me out flat!"  And that was the day he realized he was in luuuuuuuuurve.

Lupita is home from school and filling in the rest of the family on Eleazar's superawesome presentation.  Carmen denies that El will be their stepfather anytime soon.  They take turns doing impressions of what Eleazar would be like as a dad "Abdul!  Turn that videogame off!  It's going to make you stupid.  And you, Brigitte…quit wearing such tight clothes!  Paolo!  You bought rotten tomatoes! Pay attention to what you're doing!  Lupita!  You're too young to have a boyfriend!  Carmen!  Tell the kids to knock it off!  I've got an op in the morning!"

Alonso tells Eleazar that Irene had to leave town for several years.  He thought his feelings were left in the past, but now he knows he's still in luuuuuuuurve…and it's unethical!   Eleazar says if this is about Irene being his patient, then stop being her therapist and tell her about his feelings.  "Naw.  She wouldn't want anything to do with me.  Besides, I think she has a thing with an ex."  Eleazar tells him to just go for it.  He confesses that he, too, has been in love with a woman since they were kids, and since he's afraid of rejection, he's never told her.  Every time he got the courage, she was pregnant with some other guy's baby.  "Even now that all those guys are history, I can't tell her I still love her."  Alonso guesses it's Carmen and tells Eleazar to quit BS-ing him and saying it's not.

Diego shows up at the office and is disappointed that Natalia's desk is empty.  He thinks she didn't show up to work, but she was in his office.  He apologizes for not believing her and says Diana's been cheating on him for a long time.  Natalia hugs him. Not in the office, people!  Diego says he's going to speed up the divorce, but Natalia doesn't want him to do that until they know who's the baby daddy.  Also, Irene is there to talk to him.  Irene gets back from having her coffee and they head into Diego's office.

Eleazar says Carmen is the love of his life.  Alonso reminds him that there's no "other guy" right now, so he needs to go for it.  "I, on the other hand, have no chance."  Alonso decides he's got to suck it up and recommend a different therapist to Irene.

Diego's furious that not only did Diana cheat on him, but she brought the guy to the house to have dinner with all of them.  Irene tells him he needs to let it all out.  He tells her that he went to talk to Rodrigo…"And it looked like his eyes moved when I was talking to him!"

Rodrigo's doctor runs a test, but finds no sign of brain activity.  He assigns a nurse, Irma, to be Rodrigo's exclusive nurse and report anything about his condition to him.  The other doctor asks, since these tests are negative, as it sounds like the previous tests have been, shouldn't they be talking to the family about "disconnecting" him?

Tomorrow: Diego throws Diana out.  Andres confronts Diego.  Bring popcorn.

Six episodes sober AND an actual coffee date with Tad. You go, Irene!

And now I'm off to Google "coma" even though I know it won't help me understand what the real options are, since the writers are probably making the medical bits up anyway.

Mr. 5ft's response to "Rodrigo's doctor runs a test, but finds no sign of brain activity." was "How is that different from when he was awake?"

Thanks again for a stellar recap, Kat!

El and Carmen did look really good together at the school and holding hands. They are both so silly to not jump each other's bones. I know I sure would if I were in Carmen's shoes! It was cute watching them reminisce about their childhood antics.

I think Irene needs to kiss Alonso when she's not drunk in order for him to believe he really has a chance with her. It's a good first step for him to stop being her doctor, but I worry she'll see it as rejection and have a crisis. She is in a really good emotional place right now.

I can't believe someone actually likes Grumps, and he likes her back! At least we won't have to see him bitch and whine about his secretary anymore. I really don't get why he like Rodrigo more than he likes Diego. He must see himself in Rod.

Thanks for the recap Kat. Enjoyed Mr. 5 ft's comment about Rodrigo's brain activity. And another hurray for Irene. Sobriety, Tad, Grumps, Diana, and the pregnancy. Though I am concerned that she may misinterpret her therapist reassignment as Vivi noted.

I am going to bask in the fact that Diego's friends found out about Diana and told him the next episode. I know loca Diana won't good easily but glad Diego is no longer a dupe.

El and Carmen did look great together they actually need couples therapy so they can start having good memories/thoughts toward one another and work through their past.

I really like how El and Alonso could be so perspective about one another but not themselves. I hope each will stop being stuck and positively move forward.

Vivi, ITA that Grumps loves Rod more b/c they are both horrible people. Rosa, Grumps old sec, could be an interesting character as we could see a good side of the viejo but I'm not holding my breath.

Another great recap and another great episode! I noticed the mother/daughter color coordination, too. There were some scenes earlier this week where they both wore red.

I hope the younger actors are taking advantage of the fabulous veteran actors on the set (Cynthia,Marcelo, Marisa.) Not that the younger crew is bad...this is just a great opportunity for them to learn even more. I just love every scene that Cynthia, Marcelo and Marisa are in.

I actually felt bad for Tad last night when his hand started shaking.

I have an issue with something though. Diana said something about knowing it wasn't Diego's baby since he hasn't touched her in forever. Seems to me Diego would be more than aware of how long it has been since he got some nookie. He's a man, right?

Forgot to mention that I'm also becoming a member of team Albogado. I hope this actor gets a lot more work in the future.

Kat,this was strewn with gems including: "but she needs El's help zipping it up. And I'm sure he's thinking he'd rather be unzipping it", "Vicente says that Rodrigo had an accident and ended up in a coma. *drink*" and the marvelous "Alonso gets a little jealous 'cause a few days ago, Tad was the devil incarnate and now he's more saintly than Mother Teresa".

The detail you provided was awesome and please thank Mr. 5ft for his excellent comment.

I'm still amazed at how this is moving along so well with the truth coming out so quickly!

Where have we seen Rosa before? The wig is throwing me...

Also enjoyed El and Carman together - they seem so relaxed and happy.

Sara, I also felt for Tad when his hand shook. This cannot be a good sign.

Looking forward to the maturation of the relationships with these fine couples. Am enjoying the friendship and camraderie the characters are enjoying.

Thanks again Kat. This was great.

Happy Easter all.

Diana

Rosa was one of the nuns on Amorcito Corazón and also one of the staff in AV.

Eleazar needs to get with the program and declare himself to Carmen. Or, he can just come over here to me.

Diego doesn't know how far along Diana is. He didn't think she was unfaithful to him because she's been glomming all over him for the past 2 years. They are really still newlyweds, so he wouldn't even think that SHE would be cheating on him.

So yeah, he'd think the kid was his b/c he couldn't fathom Diana cheating on him, even though they hadn't been having sex for a while.

The A-Team wouldn't have shown him that tape either, IMO if Irene hadn't found out about Diana's cheating.

I wonder what Grumps is going to do when he finds out about Diana's cheating. Since he cares about appearances so much AND he cares about family lineage, what will he do? He doesn't care about family so much; otherwise, he would've accepted Irene truly as his daughter and he would've accepted Irene's daughter. I guess Irene's daughter was easier to throw away because Irene is not a blood Caceres, therefore Irene's daughter isn't either.

But this is a different situation: Diego & Diana are married, yet the kid is not a blood Caceres.

Will Grumps try to force Diego & Diana to stay married & raise the child so there will be no scandal?

Or will Grumps want Diana kicked to the curb ASAP for trying to pass off Sexter's baby as a Caceres?

Thank you Sara! Now I remember - I liked her character in AV a lot.

Diana

Gracias a los 5fts

Rosa is Raquel Morell

At least Rosa got a smile from Grumps, that is a first. I'm sure after she meets Nat, she will be able to convince him that Nat is a good person.
