A night of gift giving Mi Corazon Es Tuyo #7 07/29/2014

Sorry for the late recap, I have to do a bullet list just because work is kicking my butt!

  • Ana and Fernando arrive home for the birthday party where the kids are ready to go. The put on a play, sing songs and eat cake, there was so much candy there! They also give their father gifts,a book, an ugly sweater, a drawing and I forget what else. Ana also gives Fernando a gift, a nifty leather jacket! I wonder how much that set her back?
  • Johnny has to take a job as an exotic dancer, ewww who would pay to see that?
  • Isabella tries to wiggle her way into Fernando's life by offering to get him a less traditional tie and buys him a hot pink tie, I dig the color, she is then invited to his house to work on a project and to stay for dinner.
  • Fanny tells Gus to never, ever bother her again, she says he behaved like an animal and she never wants to see him again, captas?
  • Ximena thinks Nando is not a bad looking kid and plans to have him do her school work for her. Witch.
  • Ana gets a phone call telling her that her mother has been found, she is super happy about the news! Later she visits the agency to confirm that the news she was gives is true.
  • After a night of working the pole she has a conversation with Jen who asks her if she sees Fernando as a possible romantic partner, Ana does not answer but she has a day dream where she is a princess wearing an awful dress and she is dancing with Fernando, then he turns into a vampire and she wakes up in the library, clearly she fell asleep on the job.
  • She also meets up with Johnny who is helping her paint her house, before she leaves Johnny gives her a present for their anniversary-which he always forgets, but maybe just maybe deep down he knows that he is this close to being dumped. He gives Ana a knock off orange watch so that she can remember him "every minute of the day". Dude, there's no way in hell that I'd wear something as ugly as that, I'd find a way to "misplace" it, real quick!
  • When Ana arrives back at the house she is met with by Fernando who is not happy that she was away, he explains that Luz was sick and needed her, she tries to explain to him what happened but he tells her he does not care about her private life and she leaves to check up on Luz.
  • Luz wants Ana to join them at the dinner table.
  • Isabella arrives for dinner and plants a wet one on Fernando, Fanny walks in on this and she is not happy, she tells her father that he forgot his wife way too soon and storms off, Fernando goes after her and Isabella stays put and laughs. Lady, you have no idea what you are in for with these kids!
  • Fernando tries to talk to Fanny but the younger girls get in the way, in an attempt to make them go away Fernando agrees to have Ana join them for dinner.
  • Ana talks to Fanny and manages to calm her down.
  • Ana does not want to go to dinner because she has nothing to wear, Fanny saves the day by showing up with a dress for her, awwww how cute.
Tonight, the dinner party! Feel free to fill in anything I missed!

Thanks for the bullet points Eli. I hate when real life gets in the way of my caray hobby, lol.

On my TV the tie that Isabel gave Fernando was purple.

Ximena's friend suggested to Ximena to give Nando a try in order to get him to do her homework for her, so she agreed.

Ana's nightmare had Jonny in it, not Fernando, and Jonny turned into a vampire at the end.

I'm with you on the ugly watch, no way is it my taste, and it doesn't look like Ana's taste either.

The dress that Fannys brought for Ana to wear for dinner was her mother's dress. That was a very touching scene. I like how they combine touching scenes with the silly. Que Pobres Tan Rico is doing that too.

Can't wait until Fernando sees Ana in the dress.

Great recap Eli! Thank you.

We had many of the same thoughts on the gifts that were exchanged.

The watch? Hideous! I will echo your "Dude, there's no way in hell that I'd wear something as ugly as that, I'd find a way to "misplace" it, real quick!".

I was also wondering about Ana's expensive leather jacket gift. Yes, it must have cost a fortune! Needless to say, it kicked the pitiful (in comparison) tie Isabella gave him to the curb.

I'm glad Fanny saw Fernando kissing Is rather than Ana. Let the kidz get the hostility out on her! I suspect she will deserve it.

Was the dress Fanny gave Ana her mother's? While the gesture was sweet, I don't think I would wear it - I would feel it was bad luck (although I'm sure she will look sensational).

Thank you Eli for this fun recap.

Diana

Cathyx, our comments crossed. Thank you for confirming that was her mother's dress. I agree that Fernando will likely be smitten.

Diana

Someone drooling all over Johnny? I did not see THAT coming. Somehow I thought Ana already dumped him, at least as a boyfriend, back when she caught him with another woman. Why is she acting cozy with him again?

The kids should pretend they are happy about Daddy's new albatross to get closer to her, then give her a more sophisticated version of their old nanny treatment. Gaslight her until she runs away on her own.

That little Luz is a smart one. I love how she included Ana in her family drawing and insisted on inviting her to dinner.

ugh, sorry about the mistake with Johnny you guys, I was so tired last night that I'm sure my brain just shut down!

CathX, both my coworkers are on vacation, so I'm stuck doing the job of three people and have been working from 9-9 :/

Julia, I like your thinking!

Does anyone else suspect that
Johnny will become a leech later on?

Eli, I feel your work pain. As much as I enjoy recapping, it is a time consuming job.

Eli, no apologies for the recap. It was just right. being gone for a couple days, it gave me just what I needed to know what has been happening and then some. Love the comments on the gifts!

The whole dress thing could do either way. Fernando could feel drawn to Ana in it, but it could also make him feel panicked and fleeing back to Isabella. The hurt from losing his wife might be too much and having someone remind you of that person might not be a good things right away.

We already know that when the kids want to, they can make someone's life miserable. I would say Isabella might just be sorry she is alienating them. And we will enjoy every minutes. (The slime would be a particular favorite for me.)

Daisynjay

The slime would be nice for Isabela. I also favor garnishing her salad with ants. Although that would work better sometime when Fern isn't there, so they can all pretend they don't see the ants and she's crazy.

Juan was hired to dance for some men and the guy offered double the going rate for him to do it. He told Ana he was doing it for her to help pay down the debt but he seemed to enjoy someone wanted him for the entertainment. It does confuse me some since he cheated Juan believes everything still a go in the relationship and Ana seems on the fence. Her buddy asked her if she loved Juan like a woman does a man or was it just because he had always been there and I think triggered the nightmare.

Thank you, Eli, the bullet points were just right.
The party that the kids threw for their dad was cute, but I especially liked his reaction to hearing that they have a surprise for him: he was overjoyed, couldn't wait to get home. It's obvious he needs the kids' love just as much as they need him, he just doesn't know how to express all his feelings.
I love the fact that Ana and Fer are slowly getting more comfortable with each other - their hands touched in the car and they had a moment, but I believe that before something more real happens between them we have to see more of Isabela trying to charm her way into the family fortune.

Fernando's dad also told him he needed to get out of the house and go to a bar occasionally and chat with women, he was bored having worked his whole life. I imagine he will see Ana in her full splendor

Eli- This was perfect. I hope things slow down at work soon.

Since I didn't see the episode, I laughed out loud at the bullet about Johnny becoming an exotic dancer. Then reading the comments I realized that you were serious! OMG! Well, I know the actor in real life can shake it, so the sating works.

I'm glad the party went well. Fern really needs to spend more time with his kids. It's good for him and it's good for them.

...the casting works...

It was funny when Nicolas was talking about how he never did the partying thing when he was younger because he had to work hard and take care of everyone, but now that he's older and free, he was going to buy some hip modern clothes and go womanizing. His son Fernando was all "ACK! DAD!" like an embarrassed teen or something.

Too bad Sebastian wasn't really lost forever at the mall.

When did Ana manage to get that jacket for Fernando's gift, if she was off dealing with her personal business and then trying to get him to the party while the others were shopping?

Ha, Vivi, I read your comment and I was all "WHAT EXACTLY did that SATE?!" I know I wasn't calling for it. He did have the moves, though.

LOL, Julia!

Eli, thanks for the summary and I hope your work load lightens up!
The dress thing reminded me of that old movie "Rebecca" where the clueless young wife was tricked into wearing the dress of the deceased wife. It was a disaster and the husband was furious,. Hope "Don Hielo" has a better reaction.

When Fernando's papi asked him to go out with him to see some female entertainment, I saw a possibility of Fernando tagging along to the club and catching a glimpse of Ana on the pole.

Decie you mentioned La Gata? I was waiting to see when that would come on, has it been put in TN limbo? BTW--Nerdy Nando Jr reminds me of the Chemistry Cat meme (google it...) :o)

I thought that Fer's dad told him he was going to go to an antro. If that is true and since this is Novelaland it will surely be Chicago and Ana's secret will be discovered. I don't think dad would spill beans, however.

Maybe it was just me but I thought that expensive jacket Ana gave Fernando was inappropriate. It was a personal item and expensive and this man is her boss.

Isabella is definitely on the pushy side which is annoying.

Am having mixed feelings about the dress. Ana will obviously look smashing in it and it makes Franny happy but i'd feel odd wearing a dead woman's clothing.

To me this show is an interesting mix of good things and bad things but I'm still hanging on at least through tonight. Ana and Bruno are over the top and really need to tone it down a little. I always hate shows where everyone seems to be screaming. Loved JS's portrayal. Spot on as both the workaholic and the loving father. i think it is some of the best of his work that i've seen in a long time.

I thought the gift was too much, also. I don't think you should give anything more than a sort of token inexpensive gift to your boss.

Ana was worried about wearing Fannie's mother's dress, but Fannie seems pretty sure Fernando won't mind. I wouldn't think Fernando would even notice. He doesn't seem like he pays much attention to that kind of detail; he may not even know that it was his wife's. I guess we'll see. It isn't like Ana is borrowing her wedding gown or her lingerie. But Fannie seems the most sensitive about the idea of anyone creeping in on her mother's territory, so if she's okay with lending the dress, I would guess the rest of them wouldn't get hung up on it, either.

The actor who plays grampa, Rafael Inclan, does he have a son and was that son on Un Gancho al Corazon? They look so much alike.

Ana repeatedly asked Fanny if it will be ok for her to have the dress, so hope, if it does blow up, Fanny will step up with support. No way Fernando won't recognize the dress his beloved wife owned and hope that is trumped by a stunning Ana.

Ana (spazzy) & Bruno (just stupid silly) & Johnny (somewhat) still way over the top for me and unfortunately undercuts what I otherwise see as a clever twist on sound of music. I'm already rooting for Fernando and Ana but wished she would stop hustling at the club. Know she can't yet, got too much show to go but I see her at the house with the children and trying to better herself (one of her problems with attending the dinner is socially she doesn't know what to do) all to be erased with the dark eye liner and scantly clad bottom at Chicago.

JS however is awesome & impressed with Paulina Goto, she's carrying a good bit of the load

I like Paulina Goto. She starred in Niña de Mi Corazón, where the guy playing Abuelo Nic her played an Italian music maestro. In that show, she was smooching on Erick Elías and had Osvaldo de León after her as well. Gus is a major step down!

I think the cast of this show is still a little thin, and we need a few more characters around to fill out the story. Starting with Fernando's brother and his weird fish-harassing novia. But with just the usual household plus a few nightclub sleazes and then Biznez Babe Bela, this circus needs another ring or two.

Bruno's stuttering is getting on my nerves. And where is Diego, anyway?I am wondering whether he and Fernando aren't talking to each other at the moment.

Eli, good work.

I hate comedy telenovelas, however, I was skimming the channels when I came across a male stripper. He had a "buthisface", but his body was kinda bangin'! I can't resist a male stripper so now I will be watching this show. Does anyone have any one dollar bills?

Did I hear correctly that when Juan was setting up his 'exotic dancer' gig, it was for a guy (as in a gay guy) party? This is why Juan was so uncomfortable at first with the idea... I really doubt he would think twice about stripping/dancing for a girl

it was for gay men, but Juan got over it quickly with the offer of double the money. He then was somewhat flattered they wanted him

Remember his eyes bugging out with dollar signs?

I'm glad you're in Cynderella. Even if it took an ugly guy with a good body to lure you, lol.

LOT at "buthisface",lol

Is it wrong that Johnny just went up in my estimation a bit because he isn't too "macho" to dance for gay men, and that he's willing to do the same sort of work Ana does to pay their debts?

Vivi, i found that a bit misleading since he was bragging to Ana that she was giving up 'ALL OF THIS' for her nanny job (he was flashing off to her his six-pack etc)... and then he took that 'dance for gay guys' gig so quickly... but i guess we know now where his top loyalties are for.... (eye-bugging dollar signs)

OK. Since I didn't see it, it reads better. But basically the deal is that he'd do ANYTHING for money?

Julia: I also feel this TN is a little "light". Of course, it's only the first week. Still plenty of time to beef it up.

Thank you, Eli, for the great recap.

Uh, oh, Ana is back to calling Fernando "don Hielo" and "Don Iceberg". She really is learning English.

I loved Ana's new dress.

Jarifa

Correction: second week.

I laughed when Ana muttered "Don ICEBERG". Nerdando really is a good English teacher! I want to see more of their lessons.

If he does Ximena's homework for her, I hope he is so flustered at being around her that he gets everything wrong. Isn't Ximena in university? What is she studying that requires math, if she hates math and is terrible at it? Is it a course in villainy? Because finance skills do come in handy for a villain, and she seems otherwise well suited for the job.

Thank you, Eli, for hanging in when work got in the way. I am always amazed at how our bloggers keep up with the story.

I look forward to Ana's mother's arrival, one more character to fill things out. I am guessing that Fernando will recognize Ana, but become one more of her accomplices. I hope so, anyway.

The tender moments really are sweet and are keeping me satisfied when the over-the-top stuff gets in the way.

I don't enjoy the over-the-top corny comedy with yelling and dramatics. Also the cook in her off the shoulder peasant top is annoying. But now that the kids are acting more normal and not so bratty, I'm liking the show overall...JS is doing a super job. Silvia N talks so fast that I watch with Spanish captions on. Love some of the Mexican slang expressions she spits out!
