De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #142 Friday, 7/25/2014

De que yo también odio a los guionistas, odio a los guionistas

Tonight's recap is organized by relationship.

Carmen and El
Carmen asks Eleazar to apologize to Paul Champignon (Mr. Mushroom) and he refuses. When Carmen tells Brigitte (Brat), Brat cries about losing her father so soon after losing Alberto. Carmen agrees to go see Mr. Mushroom. Brat gives him a heads up.

Alonso (Al, Aloser, Emotional Dwarf, Leg-humper) also goes to see Mr. Mushroom. They confab about Tiburcio's treatment. Mr. Mushroom asks Al to keep him abreast of the patient's progress as he would like to publish the results. Alonso calls Lala later to find out when he can try the new drug combo.

Unfortunately, Al sees Carmen as he's leaving. He also sees Mr. Mushroom plant a kiss on her. Al does not see Carmen slap the Monsieur. Al takes it upon himself to call El and let him know what Carmen is up to. According to Carmen Lomana, telling someone that their significant other is cheating is a no no. El arrives in time to SEE Carmen sitting in the bar with Mr. Mushroom. He does not HEAR her drunkenly praise El to the high heavens for being so supportive when all the other baby daddies weren't.

Andres and Natalia
Andres asks Natalia to pull up a website and she realizes she's busted. She makes excuses and he forgives her. He asks her to prove she loves him by getting married ASAP. Alone, Natalia realizes she needs to forget Diego and try to reciprocate Andres' feelings. He does make her feel safe and protected. Later they fly a kite in the park. He writes a curse note about "happiness" being spelled with two letters: T-Ú. They kiss on a log. He wants to touch her boobs™ (David) Seriously?! In the middle of the park?! Natalia is not ready. Tad calls to interrupt the date. He wants to invite Natalia to an exhibit.

Tad and Irene
Tad is eager to spend time with Natalia because he has been told the Leukemia is back and he will need aggressive chemo to have a hope of surviving. Tad turns down this option. He doesn't want to spend his final days in agony.

Irene is upset that Tad didn't get in touch with her all day. When Tad and Natalia arrive, Irene corners Natalia and whines about Tad being distant and cold with her (Irene.) This attitude just burns my butt. You don't "lerve" him and there's "no passion", but you want him hanging on your every word? Tad later promises to make Irene happy for the rest of his life. Tad also has a very sad monologue about how much he loves Irene. It really upset me. I'll watch it again tomorrow and give you more details.

Diego and Simona
They look a lot cuter together than Diego and Natalia. She giggles about the video and they decide to go eat.

Vicente, Rod and Rosa (with an appearance by Morales)
Rod yells at Irene for not telling him Grumps was awake. Rod visits Vicente and Vicente plays dumb. Vicente acts like he doesn't remember Rod trying to kill him. He also acts like he doesn't remember making Rod VP. Rod thinks this is his chance to get power of attorney and visits a lawyer. Grumps will need an examination from a doctor and the lawyer is glad to recommend one. Meanwhile, Grumps has called Rosa. She comes to see him and tells him that she quit, but no matter where she is she is going to continue investigating. She tells Grumps about the hard drive and being discovered. She also tells him about the anonymous tip and Morales' investigation. Grumps wants to see Morales. At first he's upset because Morales is El's right hand man, but Morales explains that he's now in the white collar crime division. He also tells Grumps that Rod transferred A LOT of money out of Caprico.

Rod and the Ghost of Good Guy Past
Rod does stuff on the computer. Alberto (disguised as Alfred Hitcock's shadow) haunts him.

Wow. I think that's it. Did I miss anything?

Avances
  • A slimy doc visits Vicente and the voice over says Vicente could be the next victim!!!

Sara, I just read your comment. I am truly sorry that you lost your father. Cancer is such a devastating and insidious disease. I am sending hugs and prayers your way.

Diana

Recap is up.

Thank you Diana. I've been doing ok with the Tad plot line, but tonight's episode was just too much like real life. Dad was struggling with the same kind of choice last June (cancer came back: to fight or not to fight) and he was gone in August.

Sara, I am so very, very sorry to hear about your father. I can easily see why the Tad story line was so hard for you this evening. When these TN remind us of real life things, it can be very difficult. My heart goes out to you, dear Sara.

Thank you for posting this so early this evening. I just don't think I can watch. I think I've made it pretty clear that I love the Tad guy. I will be so sad if the writers allow him to die. It is wrong for so many reasons. Irene should not end up with Leg Humper. I will feel robbed and cheated that I invested so much time in a story for it to end like that.

Fatima

Well, Tad feels the same way. He even said after the talk with the doctor that it wasn't fair to get treatment only to have to die anyway (loose translation.)

Oh Sara, I am sure you miss your Papa so much. His one year anniversary will be coming up soon. Please let me know so that I can say a prayer for you and him.

Fatima

Sara, despite this being such a difficult subject matter being so close to your heart, you did it masterful justice.

"Alonso (Al, Aloser, Emotional Dwarf, Leg-humper)" made me smile and "He does not HEAR her drunkenly praise El to the high heavens for being so supportive when all the other baby daddies weren't" captured it perfectly.

I don't think I can be objective regarding Tadeo. The man is kind, intelligent, caring and loving. I is the mental pain and anguish he is feeling that fuels our protectivness and support.

"Tad later promises to make Irene happy for the rest of his life. Tad also has a very sad monologue about how much he loves Irene". Beyond sad.

"This attitude just burns my butt. You don't "lerve" him and there's "no passion", but you want him hanging on your every word?" is right Sara.

I want to yell at Irene to open her eyes and realize she has only a small window of opportunity to love him. She will be immersed in grief once she realizes it will be too late.

I just can't get too excited about anything else right now (although I had a shiver of satisfaction at seeing Alberto's ghost). I can only hope it serves to drive Rod mad.

Now that Tad has refused the treatment, hope is diminishing. If he does pass (speculation), I do not want Irene to end up with Alonso. Fatima, I think you, Sara and I are in strong solidarity on this.

Sara, you dug deep through your still fresh pain and gave us a wonderful gift. Thank you.

Again, my heartfelt sympathy to you and yours for your loss.

Diana

I know that in STuD Ivana was driven mad by the ghost of her victim. I hope that ghost is scaring the poo out of Rod. I'm still not pleased that Al is dead.

I still like the show, but it's been a bit of a downer since Al's departure. Thank goodness for the recappers. They've made it bearable.

Dear amiga, Diana. Yes, the three of us are in strong solidarity that Irene should not end up with Alonso. It just saddens me immensely that the writers are doing this to Tad.

I am very glad that you are doing well and that your "scare" is no longer a scare. You are so cherished on this web site. It would hurt us all of you were hurting.

Fatima

Gracias, Sara! My hat's off to you for an excellent recap of what must have been a tough episode for you. I'm in agreement with your subtitle.

I don't want to see Tad go. He's been one of our few true galanes. And I don't want Irene to end up with Alonso. Por favor, Irene...mejor sola que mal acompanada!

Grumps' machinations and Big Al's return "disguised as Alfred Hitcock's shadow" (Love it! I was thinking the same thing!) were the few bright spots.

Watching Natalia trying too hard with Andres made me feel sorry for him. She's going to break his cheesy heart into so many tiny pieces. I noticed Diego doesn't seem to be trying so hard to forget Nat and have a good time with Simona.

Carmen and El...seriously, you two. I'm too exasperated for words. Just picture me giving you the same look Lupita was giving Drunk!Carmen. We are not amused!

Sara thanks so much for your recap and I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Thank you for soldiering on in spite of this difficult episode.

This line (that Diana quoted as well) was a treasure: "This attitude just burns my butt. You don't "lerve" him and there's "no passion", but you want him hanging on your every word?"

And Diana loved your comment,"
I want to yell at Irene to open her eyes and realize she has only a small window of opportunity to love him. She will be immersed in grief once she realizes it will be too late," as it sums up my feelings as well.

Add me to the list of those that don't want Tad to die and don't want Irene w/Aloser.

Vivi, thanks so much for your great recap in spite of your big day at work!

And thank you all for your great comments to my recap. Forgive me for not being able to respond to you all. I traveled to the West Coast early Thursday EST (for an academic conference) and had almost no sleep. Then couldn't get internet access to respond.

Sara...what a dreadful storyline for someone who lost her beloved father to cancer. But thanks for being so open-hearted with us about it. You carry your father's love with you always, though, and that's a blessing, even while you grieve his loss.

I was ready to pull a Daisynjay and throw something at the TV last night. Has there every been a telenovela recently where the "good guys" have acted so abominably? (I'm talking in particular about our Emotional Dwarf, who breaks the first cardinal rule of friendship...running to tell someone of "infidelity" on the basis of a one-second glimpse of something that's somewhat suspect. That is definitely a no-no. Even when you know "for sure", if you confront anybody, it's the betrayer. But you don't run and tattle to the betrayed. MYOB.

Didn't find the subsequent drunk scene funny either, although the actress played it well. In short, other than watching Gramps plotting with Rosa, I HATED EVERY MINUTE OF THE SHOW LAST NIGHT.

But not your recap, my friend. You always entertain, I love your asides, and you can call Alonso every name in the book! Works for me.

Oh and forgot to say, yes yes yes to the title...I hate the scriptwriters also. And yes yes yes to orgnaizing it by couples. Fun to change things up a bit.

Sara. I am so sorry, it hurts my heart. Been there.

Thanks for taking time to recap despite your loss. I also lost my dad to cancer. My mother was blessed. Died of natural causes (proper name for "old age" at age 98). We're here for you and happy to provide a place for you to mourn your loss.

Hi, Sara,

Somehow or the other I missed or have forgotten your comments about your father's passing. This is a significant phase in anyone's life, and in this case, the more so since you have had to recap an episode that seems to have mimicked your own experiences. Thank you for your work.

Although I don't care much for Andres, I didn't think his wanting to touch Nat's boobs was out of character for the state that their relationship had supposedly arrived at. The fact that she demurred should be a glaring warning sign for him.

I come from an era where drunken humor was accepted. Foster Brooks, for example, made it his life's work. So I was not offended with Carmen's unplanned tipsiness, and the subsequent screw ups.

Indeed, Tad must be feeling very lonely. I wonder whether his overhearing Irene's words might be influencing his decision not to pursue the chemotherapy option.

So Chief Homicide Investigator El jealously misinterprets the evidence regarding his main squeeze, while underling Morales is making great deductions. I think El is a good leader, but Morales is demonstrating an ability to process facts that exceed El's.

Thanks again for this treatment of an episode that must have been difficult for you, Sara.

David

David-Your "touch her boobs" line just tickled my funny bone. I have now changed the recap to reflect your better line. (with all credit going to you.)

Sara, dig your style

Wow, they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel to keep Carmen & El apart. The best part was the frowny faces of Paolo & Lupita when Carmen came home.

I have no problem with Alonso calling El and telling him, I'd want to know.

Andres - flying a kite as foreplay, never crossed my mind

Nat - at least quit making that face when he kisses you

Paul - Alonso would be a great match for your daughter

Tad - bummer man, so not cool

El - when apathy sets in, its over

Irene - an ego stroke a day keeps my blues away

Diego - son, are you blind or something

Hot Rod - player or getting played

Vincente - now, that's acting, ain't it

Carmen - oh, shut up, I had fun

Sara, please accept my condolences for the loss of your father. And thank you for a great recap despite the painful memory.

I've been trying to stay positive for Aloser (thank you for such great names) but last night really killed it for me. First he tells El to trust Carmen and the next he's calling El to tell him Carmen kissed the mushroom. What a putz! Alonso is dead to me. I did not like or trust Tad at first, but now I'm not only in love with the character Tad but also with the actor! He may not be as hot as El but he is so sweet and thoughtful, it makes him the most handsome of all.

David, "I wonder whether his overhearing Irene's words might be influencing his decision not to pursue the chemotherapy option". I briefly wondered the same thing and am hoping that wasn't part of the equation. Thank you for noting that. I honestly don't know what to think.

Still hoping for a miracle and that happy ever after ending.

Diana

(((Sara))) so sorry about your dad. Mine passed away about 19 years ago. It still seems like yesterday. He was a farmer and a master toolmaker, so the last two years of his life confined to bed and a wheelchair due to neuropathy was very hard on him. When I am in my front or backyard and the trees that he loved so much sway in the breeze, I swear that he is talking to me. The Navajos say "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." We keep our loved ones who have passed away alive in our minds and hearts by remembering them.

Thanks for this recap. This novela has gotten depressing. I think that it took a downward turn when the writers decided to kill off Big Al. I suppose that they needed Rotten Rod to kill someone to seal the deal that he was the devil , and they could not have him kill the galan or El. My choice would have even Aloser...sniveling little whiner.

I must admit that El is still the main reason.that I tune in. I like to look at him.

Is weirdly Paul wearing a wig ? I hope so because that is one odd hairdon't. He reminds me of someone, but I cannot think of who.

I join the long line of those who want Tad to survive, but it doesn't look good....another good guy might go. I am not going to be happy when Diego and Aloser get happy endings after being such nimrods. What kind of lesson is that ?

This show seems to be sending mixed messages about alcohol. At the beginning, Irene is a serious mess battling for sobriety. Now, everyone else uses alcohol whenever they are upset .

Susanlynn - the mixed message about alcohol during this show has bothered me too.

LoriLoo - this is the first time I've seen this actor playing a likeable character lol.

Thanks, it seems Tad's impending?? death really put a damper on this weekend enjoyment of the recap. It reminded all of us of similar situations in our lives. How are we supposed to find anything to be positive about when the writers are jerking us around killing off the ones we love and keeping the ones we despise and poke fun at. How cruel of the writers. Absolutely no consideration for what we'd like to see. Shame on them!!!

Well...positive...hmmm....

Paolo is still the nicest boy on the planet. Lupita is still smart. Irene hasn't had a drink. Vicente finally saw the error of his ways AND he gets to work his special "El Diablo sabe mas por ser viejo" magic on Rod. Morales and Kim are happy together. Morales will probably get some big award for being the one to nab Rod. Abdul and Mally are presumably enjoying their honeymoon.

Anybody else got anything?

Just hope Irene remembers that Alonso used the drunk excuse the first time he slept with Karina. This is the guy that is her rock, her faux AA sponsor and support so she doesn't drink again.

Paolo didn't seem too please to see his mom come in sloshed after an afternoon & evening with a bottle of schnaps and a bizarre french dude.

So who's drunk and shows their butts next? Mara, Paolo, Mari, Nat, Tad, Vincente, Rosa, Lupita, PJ?

Maybe I'm just weird, but I don't like to drink when I'm upset about something. It's just not fun...for me or anyone in the immediate vicinity! I'd rather drink to celebrate.

Maybe not a positive of the show, but I enjoyed Cynthia Klitbo's performance as a drunk. She sold it yet maintained her diction and was comprehensible. I can't say the same for Marcelo and JDC when they do drunk.

And I second the Paolo and Lupita positives.

Uy! What will Lupita do to Brat, Carmen and the 'Shroom when she finds out about the break up!

them thar som slim pickins on the postive side of the ledger.

Yeah. And Grumps is on that list. How bizarre is that?

Kat, I think you pretty much covered the few characters on the "positive list". Can we add Alberto posthumously??

Has Angela been seen recently? I'm wondering if we have seen the last of her. If so, the writers certainly ruined that character who just a few weeks ago would definitely have been on the above list.

Diana

Luz! But we haven't seen much of her....

thinking of Luz but they'll have her go on a week long bender soon enough.

Poor Angela cast into exile

Well, maybe we can imagine that Luz is off on a cruise, surrounded by handsome older men. And Angela is on a spiritual retreat. And Alberto had an identical cousin.

This is kind of a false positive cause it won't last, but I really LIKE Diego with the textile gal.

He sure seems more relaxed and happy around her.

Oh! Lala!!! Lala is a positive. She's really helped Tiburcio a lot!

And Rosa!

Maybe that's Simona's job...to remind us why we liked Diego in the first place. And I agree about Rosa and Lala. I wonder if Tiburcio really isn't improving or if he just likes the attention he's getting from Lala.

I bet he's not letting on. I know he clearly said a-Se-Si-no one one of my days. Then with Lala he was A-E-I-O-ing again.

And lawd the facial expressions he makes at her and Hilda. Now that's comedy!!

To add to the posiives, Gino and C-tina are possibly off dueting gleefully somewhere hopefully LOL and Don't forget my Tono! I hope he is still working at La Fonda or MIA because he is rehabilitating Angela! I hope we see him with a chillaxed Angie in tow soon! I mean why Angie to be the one to get axed? The one who held a Good Vibes Kiosk, The one who took Mara in and finally the only other girl aside from Carmen or Nat (on Carmen's bday Nat looked as if she was ready) to stick her hands in the fire of fighting La Jaiba? Come on!

Oh, how could I forget Toño!! I'm pretty sure I spotted him at Abdul and Mali's wedding.

Sara- You so clearly embody all the good things your parents and grandparents passed on to you. I'm sure every day and in every way you honor the good man who your father was.

As for our show, Kat, thanks for pointing out the positives. I really wish the writers weren't killing Tad, hadn't killed Alberto, and hadn't done a character assassination on Angela. I also wish they would leave the El-Carmen relationship alone at this point, because the Mushroom is SO not worth all this fuss.

Diego and Nat do need to work through some major issues, so I don't mind them still being broken up. But I wish Nat would have left Andres out of her relationship drama and not accepted dating him.

Thanks Sara for providing the weekend read. I'm just now tuning in after juggling too many irons in the fire (including the grandchild's need for constant attention :-)

It's amazing the feelings and emotions that get stirred when the characters take on a face of someone in our real life. I lost my dad due to a heart attack. That's probably why I'm curious but not overly invested in Tad's outcome. That doesn't mean that I don't get depressed when I see how it affects other commenters.

5ft I found your positives very uplifting. Thanks for pointing them out.

Hey Vivi,

I made some of the sandia based agua fresca, and it was very good. I can't wait to see how the twins like it.

David

When I first saw Mushroom Head, I thought it was the same guy who played the rags-to-riches dad in Una Familia Con Suerte, just without the mustache.

Hello. It is a hot, steamy afternoon here on my patio. I enjoyed reading the positives listed by you glass-half-full folks..,,,good on you for the positive outlook. I appreciated your list. Just as in real life, it is always a good habit to focus on the positive aspects of any situation , but, all too often, we just seem to be more inclined to focus on the negatives. Well, one of the positives in my life is visiting with this community of smart, funny, clever, witty, insightful, caring people. Thanks...and have a good afternoon.

Susanlynn-I meant to say that your words especially touched me. Dad was an Anthropologist, and while his area of expertise was Native Americans of the Southeast, he did his graduate work in New Mexico. Your quote of a Navajo proverb was perfect.

Anon 2:59- OMG I did too! It's the hair and his name is Arath de la Torre (Pancho Lopez is the mentioned rags-to-riches dad LOL)

Kat thanks for having a positive take on the show. It will be fun to see Grumps take down Rod with the latter being unaware.

Anon2:59- oh my gosh! It DOES look like Pancho's wig!

Sara: So sorry about your dad. My father died 20 years ago last month. It seems like it’s been a million years ago and just yesterday, all at the same time. We were lucky. I know that sounds weird. He died of stroke, within a few hours so he didn’t suffer long. He would have been in worse shape than Tib, if he had survived. Tib’s storyline doesn’t bother me, maybe because so much time has passed and also I was living in CA when it happened (in IN) and didn’t have to see him in his awful condition.

My heart goes out to you and all
we little girls without our dads.

We have two months left on this TN. Plenty of time for the writer’s to get their heads out of their butts and write Tad a happy ending.

I wouldn’t mind Irene with Al, if he grew up. But I much MUCH prefer Tad to survive and for Irene to realize that she deeply loves him.

Nanette
