Lo Que La Vida Me Robó, #185, 7-30-2014: Pedro Beats Amelia Senseless, María Tries to Kill Montserrat, Gracie Steals Rosario's Dinner Plate, and Other Awful Incidents

Pedro and Amelia Have an Intimate Dinner;  Only Pedro Eats

Amanda fakes affection and concern, fussing over Pedro as has dinner and offering him more wine.  Finally, she suggests that he goes to rest in the bedroom.  He needs it, she maintains.  He agrees, throwing down his napkin on the table before he goes.  Alone at last, she is breathing heavily and seems nervous and afraid.

Ale Decides to Bring Glad Tidings of EZ to Carlotta

Montse wants to know what Alejandro wants to speak to them about.  Carlotta guesses it must be about Ezequiel, and Ale admits, yes, it is.  What did he do now? Carlotta wants to know.  She says that EZ ought to be in prison.  She claims she never wants to see him again for the rest of her life.

"EZ died last night,"  Alejandro informs her.

The news affects Carlotta, and she asks what happened, but before Alejandro can speak she begs, "Tell me he died trying to help Rosario.  Tell me in the end EZ did the right thing.  Tell me, please."

"Yes," Alejandro says, slowly.  "EZ sacrificed himself for us."

"Thanks for telling me the story," Carlotta tells Alejandro.  She seems less anguished, and Montse tells her to get some rest.  Ale assure Carlotta that she is not alone and that together they will all move beyond this.  Alejandro and Montserrat leave Carlotta alone.  As she remembers what happened she begins to cry.

A Whisper For Help

While creepy Pedro rests in his bedroom, an agitated Amelia grabs her purse and looks for her phone.  She frantically calls a number.  Looking around nervously and cupping her hand over her mouth to mute the sound since creepy Pedro knows-all and hears-all, she whispers in desperation, "José-Luis!"

José-Luis doesn't help matters at all and actually says:  "Talk louder, Amelia!  I can't hear you."

Scared, Amelia whispers, "I can't!  You have to help me!"

But her efforts at muffling the sound and being discreet have been in vain.  Pedro has a bionic ear or something.

He walks in behind Amelia, grabbing the phone and doing the signature Sergio Sendel cell phone smash.

Amelia screams.

DIM's House, Currently Full of Seriously Slow on the Up-Take Law Enforcement Officials

Still holding his phone, José-Luis has heard some of the commotion on the other end of the line and looks worried.  Refugio and DIM want to know what has happened.  J-L says he doesn't know.

The Scene I Wish I Didn't Have to Recap

Pedro gives Amelia a big belt right across the face.  He holds her head and slaps her again.  Finally she crumples to the ground, but Pedro lifts her and makes her stand up to face him, and puts her in a headlock.  Overwhelmed and petrified, she says "Sorry, sorry!" hoping he'll stop.

He doesn't.

Back at DIM's the Shoe Finally Drops Thanks to Timely Intervention

The doorbell rings and in the next instant Virginia runs in.  "Please help," she cries.  "My mother is alone in the house with Pedro Medina.  I don't know what to do!"

José-Luis jumps up.  DIM says he's going to get his gun.  Refugio does something equally active.  They all rush out to help Amelia.

"Let's go!" they shout.

Beach House Almonte

Montserrat says to Alejandro, "What you said to my aunt was a lie, right?"

He admits that it was and that EZ actually died like what he always was:  a rat.  Montserrat thanks him for telling her aunt what she needed to hear.  Alejandro says that poor Carlotta has already suffered enough from all of EZ's deception.

They embrace.

Montse wants to know what happened to Medina.  She hopes Alejandro will tell her that the authorities have him, but Alejandro says, no, that Medina escaped again.  Disappointed and afraid, Montse wants to know when the nightmare they are living will end.  Alejandro says he doesn't know, but what he will promise is that they are always going to be together.

But Montserrat says that there is something else she is anxious about that she needs to tell him.  When he went to get the children from school, Victor found María trying to talk to them.  Montserrat is afraid of what María will do to them.

Pedro's Latest Victim

Amelia lies on the floor unconscious as Refugio and DIM rush in to her house with guns.  They go to search the house for Pedro as José-Luis runs in behind them and goes to Amelia.  J-L tells them Amelia is still breathing and asks them to help him lift her.  Refugio carries her to the sofa in the living room.

Amelia comes to and recognizes José-Luis and says his name.  He says, "It was Medina, right?" and through her swollen lips Amelia says something incompressible, but can't go on because she is crying and in pain.  He tells her to be calm, and DIM and Refugio say they've searched the house and found nothing.  Pedro has escaped.

Virginia runs in next, sees Amelia prone on the sofa, and cries, "Mamá!"  DIM gets angry and tells Virginia he told her to stay outside, but she doesn't care.  She goes to Amelia who is crying and moaning.  José-Luis looks angry and determined.

In Another Part of Town We Are Treated to Yet Another Uplifting Scene:  María With A Gun

She caresses her firearm with a dreamy look as the doorbell rings.  She goes to the door and Alejandro barges in saying that he's come to talk to her.  Thrilled and delusional, she runs to him with her usual greeting of, "Mi amor!" and tries to throw her arms around him, but he just pushes her away.

"Don't come near me!" he tells her angrily.

She tells him he shouldn't be so rude after what she did for his mother, but he changes the subject and warns her not to go near the children again.  María claims she just wanted to get to know Alejandro's son.  He's so beautiful!  But Alejandro says he's serious and repeats his warning that María is not to go near his two children ever, but María interrupts him and taunts him,

"Two?  Only one!  The other little runt belongs to  J-L"

Alejandro informs María coolly that Romina is also his, but María insists that the baby doesn't have his blood and that this fact will torment him all his life.  Alejandro tells her that whether Romina has his blood or not isn't important to him.  He maintains that love he feels for Montserrat is immense--above everything else in the world--and that all he cares about is that Romina was brought to life by the woman he loves most in the world.

María says she would have given anything to have a child with Alejandro, a child born of their love, but Alejandro throws some cold water fast on that bit of crazy and insists, "No, no!"  This love she's talking about doesn't exist and never existed!  He then informs María that his lawyer is getting a restraining order  (It's about time, guys!) against María and she is NEVER to go near his children again.

María keeps dreaming the impossible dream and vows that soon she and Alejandro will be together and that nothing and no one will separate them.

Disgusted and fed-up with María, Alejandro leaves.

Back at Amelia's

Amelia and Virginia thank DIM for all his help and for going with them to the hospital, though he insists there's no need to thank him.    Amelia says she wants Virginia to leave Agua Azul and to go abroad again, but Virginia insists she wants to stay with Amelia.  DIM suggests maybe they should both leave the country for a while, and Amelia says that he may be right, and she will think about this.

DIM says he needs to leave, but Virginia accompanies him to the door to give him a private thank you along with a big hug.   She asks him to forgive her for all the stupid things she did in the past, and he teases her and says she's going to have to pay.  They say goodbye, and Virginia returns to comfort Amelia.

Beach House Almonte

Graciela is rubbing in the news of EZ's death and betrayal to Carlotta, insisting that she (Gracie) always told Carlotta that something like this would happen.  It's obvious that EZ was tricking Carlotta, and besides, what man in his right mind would want to be with Carlotta anyway?

Carlotta says that Gracie only told her about EZ to annoy her, not because she (Graciela) was ever worried for Carlotta, and insists that Gracie can't offend her anymore.  Carlotta knows herself that she was stupid about EZ.  Gracie insists that Carlotta got what she deserved, no more, no less, but Carlotta is back at her saying, "I  could say exactly the same thing to you, Graciela."  However, Carlotta says that she is genuinely sorry for what is happening to Graciela.

Graciela changes the subject and wants to know where Montserrat is.  Carlotta says that she went out to get Carlotta's bag from the house since she is staying for a few days.  Montserrat asked Carlotta for a visit so she wouldn't have to be alone in her house.  Gracie gets mad when she hears this and accuses Carlotta of trying once again to take the attention of her children from her (Gracie).  Gracie says she can't believe how selfish Carlotta is.   Carlotta is fed up of talking to Graciela and leaves.

Montserrat Meets Her Evil, 2-3 Dress Sizes Bigger Twin

Wearing a sexy but pretty off-the shoulder number, Montserrat has come to get Carlotta's bag from Mansion Mendoza-Basurto, thanking Manuela for packing Carlotta's things.  As Montserrat leaves the house, dragging the big bag behind her with all the force of her tiny, well-dressed body, she looks up to see coming down the walk a 15+ pound heavier version of herself in the same dress and also sporting a tacky blonde wig in the same style of Montserrat's hair.

María greets Montserrat.  "I saw you buying this dress and couldn't resist buying it, too.  It suits us both, don't you think?"

"You are totally crazy, María," Montserrat tells her.

María insists it's been easy to pretend to be Montserrat.  All that was necessary was to always be stupid and glum.  María insists both Alejandro and José-Luis were both confounded by María's excellent role-playing.  She says J-L begged María to make love to him, but María turned him down.  Montserrat looks dubious.  María says that after kissing them both, María comprehends Montse's choice more.  Alejandro is better and both Montse and María prefer him above all other men.  He's the one with whom they both want to spend the rest of their lives.

"María, you need help," Montserrat tells her.  "You are sick."

María tells Montserrat that she (María) is growing bored of her Montserrat disguise and that today is that last time she is going to use it.  Montserrat can't believe what María tries to do to get the attention of Alejandro.  Fundamentally, María is a small and pathetic person.  Montserrat informs María that nothing she can do will separate Alejandro and Montserrat.

María says Montserrat is wrong.  All María has to do is destroy Montserrat.

María draws a gun.

Montserrat is shocked and horrified.

María says it's curious but the expression on Montserrat's face is the same one Sandro had on his face the day María killed him.  He made the mistake of confusing María with Montserrat.  Montserrat starts to run, but María tells her not to move.

María reminisces to Montserrat, "The last time I shot you, you were standing in the same place."

"It was you?" asks Montserrat.

"Yes," says María. "That time, they saved your life.  This time, no.  You're going to pay for robbing me of the love of my life!"

In the next moment, Adolfo comes out of nowhere and tackles María, and they both fall over the garden hedge.

Josefina asks Montserrat if she's all right and then they both run back into the house while Adolfo tries to deal with María, who is screaming at him to let her go.  In the house, Montserrat gives Josefina the low-down about how María was the one who tried to kill Montse before and also how María killed Sandro, too.  Josefina can't believe how crazy María is to be going around dressing up like Montserrat.  They agree that María is real sicko!

Back out in the garden, Adolfo tells María to calm down and wants her to understand that the police are coming.   María vows if the police take her she's going to tell Josefina and everyone else that Adolfo is El Alacrán and that he's been sleeping with María, too.  Adolfo warns María to lower her voice.   He gives her an escape plan, though:  he gives he a gun and tells her he should shoot him in the leg and then run.

But María vows she hates him for preventing her from killing Montse and that she thinks it would be better idea for her just to kill him.  He tells her if that's what she wants then go ahead:  it would be a relief.  It's what El Alacrán deserves.  He says he's not going to beg for his life, but reminds her of all he's done for her.  She says he only did what he did for her because he feels guilty.  She tells him that Adolfo doesn't exist anymore;  now he's only El Alacrán.

She points the gun at him and tells him she'll see him in hell.

Before she shoots, he tells her he's got security for his life.  He tells her he has the wig and the gun she used when she killed Sandro.  Graciela gave them to him.  In addition, he's got a letter explaining all the things he and María did that both Alejandro and the authorities will get if she kills him.  (Note:  I think that's what he said;  I got interrupted during this scene and wasn't sure I heard this correctly.  Let me know if I missed something)  She says it doesn't matter since Montserrat already knows everything María did. The police will look for her anyway.  Adolfo says that if he's alive he will help her like he always does.   Now shoot him in the leg and run already!

Finally, she takes aim and fires.  He falls over in pain, clutching at his thigh.

In the house, Josefina and Montserrat hear the shot.  Montserrat tells Josefina it's dangerous to go out, but Josefina says she doesn't care.  Both women run out and see Adolfo lying in the grass and bleeding.    They need to call an ambulance.  He rips off his jacket and his shirt, and tells them to make a tourniquet until help arrives.  Montserrat thanks Adolfo for saving her life.

"If not for you that woman would have killed me."  Montserrat tells him.
"You are a hero," Josefina says to Adolfo.  "I'm so proud of you."

At Light Temptations, Macario Has Dark Thoughts

Rosario and Alejandro have come to show Padre Anselmo, Dominga, and Macario that Rosario is now safe again and with her family.  There is much happiness all around at this news.  Alejandro and Rosario also want to meet Kevin and embrace him warmly and assure him that he can count on them and consider them family.  A less than enthusiastic Macario asks to talk to Alejandro alone.

Alejandro congratulates Macario on his son and also teases him for having kept it a secret all these years.  Macario says he never imagined he could have a child 'on the other side' (aka The United States of America) but that he is also worried about a few things, like 1.) Dominga is growing attached and Kevin is already 15 and will leave soon and she will be hurt again and more importantly 2.) Zanaida, Kevin's mother, was a real, well….  If María were standing with them no doubt she would be able to supply them with one of her favorite words ZORRA (Slut).  Mac insists he and Zanaida only did the nasty once when they were drunk.  Mac wants Alejandro to help him get one of those DNA tests that Alejandro had when he was convinced Montserrat had cheated on him with José-Luis.

Alejandro says okay but says this might hurt Kevin and reminds Macario of the words he once told Alejandro, "A child is always a blessing from God."  Mac says, okay, okay, but his situation is different than Alejandro's because Mac never loved Zanaida like Alejandro loved Montserrat.  Mac needs to know the truth so he can love Kevin fully.

"And if you discover he isn't yours?" Alejandro asks.
"Kevin has the right to know," Mac says.

Alejandro's phone rings.  Guess who?  No surprise, really.

It's Montserrat calling to tell him about the latest craziness of María and how she nearly killed Montserrat.

In Her Own Little Corner, In Her Own Little Chair

María talks to herself at home, saying she's got to get away before the police can find her.  She imagines the voice of Alejandro saying, "Don't leave me," and she promises him they will go someplace together where no one will ever find them.

She sees a vision of Alejandro approaching her.  He reaches out and takes off the blond wig she's wearing and tells her to take it off because he doesn't want to be reminded of Montserrat and that he likes María more without it.  "Now you're the María I always loved," he says.

In the next instant, we see María alone in her room muttering all this to herself.   Her fingers are on lips as if she imagines a kiss.  She whispers, "You love me.  Only me."  Then she comes out of her reverie says she has to get packing.

Still Applying Pressure Back in Garden of Mansion Mendoza-Basurto

Josefina, Montserrat, and Adolfo still await the arrival of the police and an ambulance and tighten the tourniquet on Adolfo's leg wound.  Adolfo is not excited when Josefina tells him she wants to call DIM to help, too.  She insists she had to because DIM is not only a Captain in the Marina but he is also their friend.

Josefina says it was lucky that she and Adolfo came to visit Carlotta at that moment. Montserrat again thanks Adolfo for saving her life.  They want to know if Carlotta is okay and Montserrat explains that Carlotta isn't inside the house.  She's staying at Montserrat's house because of what happened with EZ, but now it turns out that EZ is dead, too.

Adolfo can't believe this.  "Ezequiel is dead?"

Chez María:  Creepy Pedro Shows Up To Provide Moral Support

Pedro wants to know what happened and why María didn't manage to kill Rosario, but María claims she couldn't because Alejandro and José-Luis showed up at the last minute and what could she do?  She informs him that EZ is dead, that Alejandro killed EZ in order to save J-L.  Pedro wants to know what is it with those two idiots who are always saving each other's lives, first one and then the other.  María says it's because Ale and J-L are not like her and Pedro.  They (Ale and J-L) don't have what it takes to get rid of things that are in their way.

On that same theme, María says she's ticked at Adolfo for stopping her from killing Montserrat.  Pedro gets mad at María for acting impulsively and declares he decides when someone dies and that he's got other plans for Montserrat.  María reminds Pedro that she was only helping him in exchange for something and that now she wants it.  She says it's the only way she and Alejandro can be together forever.  Pedro says okay and hands María a small bottle.

"With this," he assures her.  "Nothing can separate you from the man you love."

He says it's time for them to say goodbye to each other forever.  "Hasta nunca," Pedro tells María

María thanks Pedro but wants to ask him one more question before she goes.  She wants to know helped him after Adolfo shot him and saved Pedro's life.

Pedro laughs his evil laugh and declares, "The person you could least imagine."

So I guess that settles the mystery, folks.  The person I could least imagine helping creepy No-Balls at this point is our beloved Angélica.    I think she faked her own slow death from cancer in order to break bad and become a drug kingpin.  Or maybe it's Laurito.   I don't trust anyone with a faux hawk.  It's got to be one or the other, for sure.

Have at it, Crackpot Theorists!

Beach House Almonte

Montserrat returns home from her near-fatal shooting.  Alejandro assures her that Adolfo is okay.  Nadia overhears this and wants to know what has happened to her brother.  Montse tells her about María trying to kill her (Montse) and that Adolfo saved Monte's life.  Nadia wants to know why Alejandro asks about Adolfo then.  Montse tells her about Adolfo getting shot in the leg.

This freaks Nadia out and she wants to go to the hospital immediately.  She and Victor head out as Alejandro asks them to tell Adolfo how much he (Ale) appreciates what Adolfo did for Montse.

After Victor and Nadia leave, Alejandro tells Montse he wishes he had been the one who was there to protect her, and he doesn't know what he would do if he lost Montse.  He holds her, and she tells him that in his arms she feels she is in the safest place in the world. Alejandro says he was crazy at the thought of losing her and wouldn't want to live without her.  She tells him that when María was about to shoot, she (Montse) could only think of the children and Alejandro.

Alejandro asks if she's sure that it was María who tried to kill Montse before.  Montse says yes and because of this she couldn't be with Alejandro when he was escaping before.

Montse says of María, "She crazy!  A killer!"  María shot Sandro, too.

Alejandro holds Montserrat and tries to comfort her.

Agua Azul General

Josefina says she hopes Adolfo's leg doesn't hurt too much and if there's anything she can do to help.  He says ask for a kiss to make it better. They smooch for a while.  Just as the kissing gets a little more intense, DIM walks in and teases them "Hey, save it for the wedding night!"  Both Adolfo and Josefina laugh.

DIM gets more serious then and thanks Adolfo for what he did for his sister, Montserrat.  Adolfo says it was nothing and that DIM would have done the same thing.  Trying to lighten things up again, DIM teases Josefina and wonders if she's sure she wants to spend the rest of her life with Adolfo?  She says believe it or not, yes, with another light laugh, but sensing they want to talk in private about what happened, Josefina says she is going for a coffee and leaves DIM and Adolfo alone.

DIM says, "To think that you and María once cared about each other!"

Adolfo admits that this was a mistake that he is paying for now.

Beach House Almonte

Alejandro, Montserrat, Rosario, Carlotta, and Padre Anselmo sit down for dinner.  They discuss their happiness at Rosario's return, but Carlotta expresses her dismay at all the awful things that keep happening one after the other.  Alejandro says that as long as the stay united they can overcome anything.  Padre Anselmo agrees with Alejandro and says that God is with them.  He also says it's time to bless the food since he's dying of hunger.

Unfortunately, they are all about to have a major case of indigestion.

"Is there a place at this table for me?"  a familiar, unwelcome voice growls from the doorway.

"Of course, Graciela," says Alejandro.  "Come in."

She enters amidst sounds of ominous music and enquires about how she's feeling.  She says she feels less weak and has more energy, and then sits down at an empty place next to Rosario and proceeds to steal Rosario's entire place setting:  plate, cutlery, and drinking glass.

"My daughter and my grandchildren have been my best medicine," insists Graciela.

Graciela then tells Rosario she's happy to see that Rosario returned alive.  Rosario thanks her and adds with subtle sarcasm, "I'm sure you prayed a lot for me."

Father Anselmo finally blesses the food.  Rosario gets another plate and everyone starts to eat and the mood lifts a bit.

Alejandro tells Montserrat that he needs to go to the hacienda to see about the pies de cría (I'm guessing this means the new calves or something like that) and wants to know if Montserrat would like to go with him.  She says she would love to.  Rosario says she thinks they should take advantage of the opportunity to get away for the weekend and to spend some time alone together.  She and Carlotta will take care of the children.

The doorbell rings

Graciela pipes in that she would like to help with the children, too, but given her health situation, she hopes Rosario understands she can't.  Carlotta says, of course, Rosario understands--that's why she only asked Carlotta to help.

Alejandro asks if Montserrat she wants to escape together this weekend?  She says, of course!

Just then there is a knock on the dining room door.

In the next moment, José-Luis enters along with the soundtrack of male chorus of doom.

He's come to see the Romina, but Alejandro tells him that she is sleeping.  Both Rosario  and Montserrat invite José-Luis to sit down and to eat with them.  Rosario says it's the least she can do after what he did for her.  He declines politely, saying he'll go play with Laurito instead.  He doesn't want to interrupt their family dinner.  He leaves, and they all look uncomfortable afterwards.

Back to the Hospital

Adolfo says he's been thinking about something and wants to ask DIM:  maybe María was the one who helped Pedro escape after he was shot.  But DIM thinks it was the El Alacrán who helped Pedro.  Adolfo, who knows the truth, says, no, El Alacrán was the one who tried to kill Pedro.  DIM wonders where Adolfo is getting this information.  Adolfo says it's just what he's heard.  Criminals are always fighting amongst each other and falling out.  DIM agrees with this, noting that there is little loyalty in narcotraficante circles.   Adolfo wants to know if EZ told the marina about the identity of El Alacrán, and DIM admits to him that the case is cold.  Adolfo urges DIM as a friend to forget about El Alacrán, to put it in the past and go ahead with his life.  But DIM isn't having it.  He vows he's going to find El Alacrán and kill him.

Victor and Nadia enter Adolfo's hospital room.  Nadia has come to see her brother to make sure he's okay.   He says he is, and then she and Adolfo embrace and say they love each other.

Marina Base

Refugio gazes at a photo of Esmeralda on his desk.  There is a knock on the door.  A woman enters who says she was the personal secretary EZ.  She had instructions from him that if he died, she was to deliver this envelope to Captain Dimitrio Mendoza.  Refugio tells her that DIM is not there, but that he will give the envelope to him when he returns  She hands it over, reminding him that the contents are strictly confidential.  She tells him that all her life she assumed she was working for an honest man and leaves.

Alone, Refugio contemplates the envelope.   He says aloud to himself, "Could the identity of El Alacrán be written in here?"

Refugio takes a letter opener and slices open the envelope.

End of Episode

Avances:  Looks like María pours something in Alejandro's lemonade.  He drinks it and then falls down the front stairs of the hacienda.  Montserrat comes running.

Julia, I love your theory that the informant has to be either Angelica or. Laurito. There were TWO let me releat TWO chances to put that BM out of her misery. I still don't know
why Adolfo didn't shoot her or choke her when he had the chance. Pedro threatened to throw her out the window. Why didn't he just do it as a favor to the viewers for us having to watch him beat up Amelia? Now we will have to put up with more of her craziness with what looks like poison and Ale at her mercy. Why????

Graciela sure caused everyone a major case of indigestion when she insisted on "gracing" (pun intended) them with her disgusting presence.

It is time for a mass exodus from Aguazul or time to batten down the hatches for the evil Pedro siege but not time for a romantic weekend out at the rancho for Ale or Montse. What are they thinking? They are going to split up the family for a little romance with Pedro and that BM on the loose? After Rosario is kidnapped and Montse's life is threatened by that BM? Really?

The end needs to come quickly.

Jarifa

Julia, thanks for a gracefully flowing account of the evil running rampant in our beachside community. Thanks to all the recent recappers. My life went into a spin cycle with recent family health issues, so I watched but didn't have time to comment.

Gracie is still proving it's all about her. The other day with Laurito and tonight with Carlota and at the table, demanding everyone's attention.

Maria's still clinging tenaciously to her own world view, as well. I'm ready to just sweep all the bad guys off the table and bid farewell to Aguazul.

Dear Julia Rold,

You have given us yet another smashing recap -- so detailed and so funny and engaging.

I wish I had written this part:

"So I guess that settles the mystery, folks.

Have at it, Crackpot Theorists!"

And then there was "A Whisper For Help," "DIM's House, Currently Full of Seriously Slow on the Up-Take Law Enforcement Officials," and "At Light Temptations, Macario Has Dark Thoughts," just to cite a few more favorites.

Jarifa, yes, what ARE M & A thinking? Just the two of them on the isolated hacienda when there are crazed killers gunning for them and their families? Oy vey!

I guess Refugio doesn't understand the meaning of "Confidential," huh? How else to explain his opening the VERY IMPORTANT Basurto letter specifically addressed to Capt. Mendoza?

On the bright side, it was so nice to see Graciela feeling well enough to join the family at dinner.

Julia, thank you so much for this and all the other wonderful recaps you've written in this space!

Julia:

Thank you so much for this fantabulous recap! I too guffawed loudly at your Crackpot Theory about who helped Peddy escape the day Addled shot him, too funny, Don't trust anyone with a Faux Hawk and Angie beating death and breaking bad to become a drug kingpin.

Gaudy sure manages to suck all the happy out of a room and sticking her arm in front of Rosy like that, how rude! Plus taking her plate and place setting, would it have hurt for her to ask for a place setting of her own? I loved how Carly socked it to Gaudy.

I too think it is a very bad idea for Ale and Monse to be going away right now, and the isolated hacienda to boot. I am glad though that Monse now knows who shot her seven years ago.

JL was actually very polite this evening. He was actually on his best behavior when he interrupted the Almonte family dinner.

I really hope that Amelia and Virginia go far, far away, and out of Peddy's reach. I have to give kudos to Amelia for having stuck it out so long, at the peril of her life to get the goods on Peddy. I think both the Navy and the police now have more than enough evidence against Peddy so the charges will stick. I had to look away when Peddy was beating Amelia, it was too horrible, like the night he beat Esme. SS is so good with those cell phones isn't he?

BM is way over the edge. It's time for her to go. I can't stand even seeing her on the screen anymore. And that dress like Monse's, I have to say that Monse looked way better in it. I can't wait for the giant sized pie cart to hit BM, it's way past due.

I dreaded the beating of Amelia but i loved the phone Smash! Pedro really must have a bionic ear or something, maybe the doctors experimented with him for a while who knows:) I laughed when Padre Anselmo was going to bless the food then Graciela comes out and completely ruins the festive mood! Graciela at her very best, bringing the Sunshine!

Monse and Ale are so dumb ,they must be living under a 50m rock for them to be leaving alone their kids whille Pedro and Maria are on the run for just a calm little trip to the hacienda! ugh do they even have the slightest sense of Personal Security?!

Adolfos days are now numbered with that letter!

CountxAlacran, great comment about a "bionic ear."

Madelaine, ITA about the BM's copycat dress. It just made her look thick.

NovelaMaven, I was thinking the same thing about "confidential."

Jarifa

Dear Caray Caray Friends!

Thanks so much for commenting early! This was a bummer of an episode, for sure.

First off, GLORIA: Thanks so much for your great recap yesterday. I had a lot going on and couldn't' find a moment to comment, but, as always, reading your detailed and funny recap gave me tremendous pleasure.

Jarifa: You are so right about Ale and Montse! It does seem crazy for them to be going away. The episode was so dark, though, that I didn't have this reaction in the scene itself. I found myself thinking, "Yay! Sexy weekend away for Ale and Montse." I could use some relief from drama. But it really is a stupid move on their part and from the look of the avances, it's going to cause problems.

La Paloma: Thanks for your praise. I, too, am ready to sweep the bad guys off the table, as you so wonderfully describe.

NovelaMaven: You always praise me so much and make me feel great. Thank you, truly! This episode was pretty awful to recap, I admit, but I am so glad you enjoyed my theory. Being on a team with you and the others has been the best part of this whole recapping experience.

Mads: Thanks so much and so good to have you back commenting in the wee hours. I always look forward to getting up in the morning after the night I recap because know your kind comment will be waiting for me to read and make me feel happy. I agree with you that J-L was more like his pre-Mad Dog self last night. Could it be that he has been changed from his near-death experience?

CountxAlacran: Always love reading your comments! Yes, I agree that phone smash was pretty impressive.

I have a lot going on today, but I try to check in to respond as I can.

Best to all,
Julia R.

Great work, Julia.

Maria approaching the children was just too creepy for words. She has no qualms about hurting anyone. Doesn't sound like the daughter of good, responsible Gaspar, does it?

As for Monse and Alejandro being dumb, I tend to agree but I also think that in a prolonged siege like this there is a need for some normality. I agree that now is not the time for this sort of thing without armed guards around the property. Considering the size of the Almonte estate that is rather a tall order. This is where Alejandro needs a competent, well-paid manager to do any ranch administrative work for him for now.

He should hide his family outside the country until Pedro falls, but that could only have worked if this series had fewer episodes. Watch for the weekend topic, although I don't know how active it will be in view of how this tale is now spinning.

Julia, I knew you would interweave every golden thread into the tapestry of your recap. And so you did...Marvelous!

Your title was inspired. Noting Pedro and Maria and then adding "Gracie Steals Rosario's Dinner Plate" was sublime. Fantastic from start to finish.

"Pedro and Amelia Have an Intimate Dinner; Only Pedro Eats"; "Refugio does something equally active" and "In Her Own Little Corner, In Her Own Little Chair" were only a few of my favorites.

I believe the fact Adolfo spared Maria is that there remains a sliver of kindness in a heart that has been covered in darkness. He is capable of love, of real emotion. He loves Fina, his sister, his niece. He has not been utterly consumed by hatred and revenge. He is a killer but a killer with a conscience.

"Mac needs to know the truth so he can love Kevin fully". Once an idiot, always an idiot.

Imagine the surprise and embarrassment Monse and Maria shared in showing up in the same dress. The only question is, who wore it better? I would have to give the nod to Monse on this one.

"Disappointed and afraid, Montse wants to know when the nightmare they are living will end". Thank you Monse for voicing what Viewerville would also like to know, namely when this now out of control saga will finally come to an end. :)

Madelaine, I also thought JL seemed lucid and (gasp) even somewhat cordial when he interrupted the dinner. I would be so happy if the character continues on his upward spiral and become the man he could and should become.

"On the bright side, it was so nice to see Graciela feeling well enough to join the family at dinner". Wasn't it NovelaMaven?? I give Rosario credit for keeping her composure as Graciela was clearly baiting her. Not for the first, nor for the last time. And you are so right La Paloma, she demands to be the center of attention at all times.

Thank you Julia!

Diana

Why do people write novels in the comment section? I like reading the comments, but make them brief. If you have that much to say, volunteer to recap.

Anonymous at 8:06, that was uncalled for.

Recapping a series is more work than you can realize. I've been doing it for three years as of this weekend and it is a serious time commitment.

Long comments in discussions often come from people who don't have people in their lives with whom they can have verbal discussions about these programs. I don't mind reading long comments if they are well-written and I'm glad to say that most of the ones on this blog are.

Also, since this series is in its final episodes there are bound to be long comments. And lots of them.

I'm currently watching Hasta el Fin del Mundo online to get further acquainted with it and if you guys need a recap member for team HEFDM, I'd be glad to join.

Anon, while you are certainly welcome to your opinion, I am sad that you feel that way.

I readily admit I often write long comments. The recappers are so talented and generous with their time, I think we (the commenters) want them to know how much we appreciate them and these gifts they give us daily.

As UA noted,in my own particular situation, CarayCaray is the only place I can share and participate.

My Spanish language skills are such that I could never do a recap. I wish I could - but I can't. The best I can do is to sometimes add a comment but largely based on what I've seen rather than heard.

Thank you.

Diana

Dear Julia R, how do you do it?! How in the world did you manage to write such a well paced and written recap from a horribly depressing episode?! You've got some real writing chops, my friend! Thank you SO much!!

I knew the minute that Amelia went to the mobile phone that something was going to happen. I turned off the television. I could not take seeing yet another beating of a woman. How many females have been beaten in this TN?! In real life, that beating could have caused permanent facial disfigurement and damage to the face. The actress did an excellent job of portraying a woman in horrific pain.

Enough of Gaudencia already. She is a sickening, disgusting, pathetic excuse of a human being. Enough.

The one thing that is still "bothering" me this morning is that little lie that Alejandro told to Carlota. Carlota is a grown woman. She was coming to terms in a healthy way about the man she thought loved her (I don't buy his words to her, btw as words are cheap for people like Basura). Why tell her a lie? Carlota DESERVED to know the truth as it would have allowed her to complete her HEALTHY mourning of that relationship.

I hope Carlota finds out the truth. Everyone deserves to know the truth.

Fatima

I had a brain freeze watching last night after a few days off. I thank you so much Julia for a beautifully written recap that brought the sanity to the crazy. I'll have to remember tonight to grab some wine while I watch.

The persistence in these last episodes for having the characters carry out ridiculous antics for the sake of the plot is unfortunate. With what just happened, Monse and Ale wouldn't be running off for a weekend alone and leaving the kids. Just no, but we need that to happen so Maria can do whatever I guess. Sorry Carlos, that woman needs to go.

Nothing can happen to Pedro that is severe enough. His cowardly abuse of women is sickening and for that alone I hope is anvil is huge & slow to punish.

Was it me, or did Dim look rather suspiciously through his whole discussion with Adolfo? I kept getting a vibe like he wasn't quite buying what Adolfo was selling. I know he is having a bit of an issue trying to accept Fina with Adolfo, but thought it was more than that. I've also had it with Adolfo.

Gee Refugio. What about confidential don't you get?

Side Note: Anon, I'm sorry those of us who get a bit long-winded upset you. But the dedication of our recappers gives many of us additional information, or thoughts, to express as we comment. This site over the years and on different shows, has spurred some wondrous discussions on topics brought up on the shows and allowed readers to share experiences or knowledge which we appreciate and cherish. This isn't really one of those typical blog sights that comment on shows as you see on other websites.Love to have everyone here and comment, and if some of us "talk too much", just feel free to skip over our comments.

Daisynjay

daisy "Was it me, or did Dim look rather suspiciously through his whole discussion with Adolfo?"

No, it wasn't just you. I meant to mention that as well. The wheels definitely seem to be turning.

Diana

Daisynjay and Diana, I think we definitely noticed that Dim was not buying what Adolfo was selling. Actually, it didn't occur to me that he was focusing on what he felt about Fina, but more about what he was thinking about Adolfo. So, I think both of you are correct.

I'm still a bit surprised as this somewhat abrupt turn about with JL. I almost feel that something happened, but we didn't see it. While I'm sure many are glad to see him on the road to some kind of redemption. For me, it is hard to get the ugliness of his words and actions towards Montserrat out of my head. He treated her like utter filth and now we are supposed to accept he is Good Ole JL. I might take this gentle reader some time to accept that fact.

Fatima

Fatima, I don't think we may have seen the last of the bothersome JL when it comes to Romina. Something about the way he just bopped into dinner last night had me suspicious. Didn't seem like he was expected, but because of how he assisted with Rosario, everyone was being nice. I would like to see the JL we appreciated back in the Angie days back, but don't think we are 100% there yet.

Daisynjay

Fatima:

JL is becoming who he was towards the beginning of this TN, where he took care of things in the right way, and not bad tempered and selfish. Yes, he did call Monse all kinds of names in the book, but so did Ale, remember when Ale assumed she was preggers by JL, when she was preggers with Laurito? He also called her every name in the book and kicked her out of house and home! It took me awhile to look past Ale's bad behavior too. They are much alike those two.

I had to laugh in the opening of this episode, when JL comes to give the news about Rosy to Dimi and Refug. As soon as JL comes in the door Dimi tells him, I think, oh honey your home, want some coffee? Why didn't you call? I know it was the ending of Tuesday's epi, but still it was too funny. A little levity.

Julia,  thank you for this wonderful recap.  You wrote, "Mac wants Alejandro to help him get one of those DNA tests that Alejandro had when he was convinced Montserrat had cheated on him with José-Luis." I still want to know why Ale hasn't thought to get a DNA test done on Romina. Especially, with all the trouble they have had with JL.  I can't believe he has no doubt that she is JL's.  I still have my doubts.  Oh, well.

"I guess Refugio doesn't understand the meaning of "Confidential," huh? How else to explain his opening the VERY IMPORTANT Basurto letter specifically addressed to Capt. Mendoza?" NovelaMaven I was thinking the same thing.  Why on earth did he think he had the right to open that letter?  I think that scene was really interesting.  Now I have my own crack pot theories.  Hm....

"Was it me, or did Dim look rather suspiciously through his whole discussion with Adolfo? I kept getting a vibe like he wasn't quite buying what Adolfo was selling. I know he is having a bit of an issue trying to accept Fina with Adolfo, but thought it was more than that. I've also had it with Adolfo."  Daisynjay, I totally agree.  I really think Dim is on to Adolfo but just doesn't have the evidence to prove his suspicions.

As others have mentioned, I don't think a romantic getaway is appropriate for Ale and Montse at this time.  However, it is the perfect set up for more drama.

Graciela is consistent as usual with her need for everything to be about her and for her.  Her anvil is too slow in coming for me.

Caryn

Madelaine, yes, I remember that Alejandro called Montserrat every name in the book as well. A long time ago, I said that it would be very, very hard for me to EVER forget those kinds of words. Even if they were said in anger or in the heat of the moment, something deep down inside of me would say that those thoughts had been simmering there which is why those words had come out.

I would have left both Alejandro and JL a long, long time ago, but Angelica called it when it she described what Montserrat wanted and needed in a man.

Frankly, neither of these men get a pass from me, Adonis or no Adonis and JL was a wimp from the get go.

Caryn, I so very much agree that Gaudencia has gotten away with too much for too long. Also agree that Dim WAS funny! I love that actor and I hope we see more and more of him. He is a talent!

Fatima

I think the defining moment between JL and Alejandro was when Alejandro shot EZ, thus saving JL's life just as JL had saved Ale from Loreto in almost exactly the same spot years ago.

When JL appeared unexpectedly, Alejandro INVITED him to join them for dinner. JL followed his lead and turned down the invitation courteously.

They are back to being romantic rivals united against the Forces of Evil. Presumably JL's psychotic break (I keel you, I keel him, I keel myself) has burned itself out. But it's Aguazul, so you never know.

That's good enough for me, NovelaMaven.

Such a rivalry.

Fatima

Julia,

Many thanks for your terrific recap and for all the time you invested in it.

I think I am correct in saying that Dim was not told exactly how EZ died, and Montse was not told that her husband killed EZ to save the life of JL, and Carlotta was told a lie. Now how is it possible that Maria is privy to this information which she just gave to Pedro? Was she supposedly watching all of this happen in the dark after she shot the guy in the cabin? Will the truth be outed?

The whole plot about Amelia getting info on Pedro by marrying him was ridiculous. As someone commented the other day, she should have left the country with her daughter who really needed her.
Nothing she found on Pedro would change the fact that her husband was a dirty rotten crook; the fact that Pedro forced her husband to kill himself was minor compared to
the fact that her husband and the father of her children had betrayed all of them for years.

I am enjoying Dimitrio immensely.
He has depth and a sense of humor.
Ojala, there will be a happy ending for him and Fina. There will need to be a big ANOS DESPUES to allow for a huge catharsis and show them living peacefully with a family.

I love how the TN'S have room for children and for older actors especially like Eric D. el padre.
He is fabulous and into his 80's,
the consummate professional who has a great gift for acting.

QEPD Julio Aleman, another great talent who worked well into his 80's. He was phenomenal.

Thanks to all who recap and comment. I enjoy hearing your opinions.

Thanks, Julia, for enduring the continued madness to give us this excellent recap.

Wow..my beanie exploded right off my head. What are these people thinking ? Why are they just placidly remaining sitting ducks paddling about Bluewater while crazy Ped and equally crazy Malria continue to circulate among them ?

Malria managed to somehow get Mony's exact same frock ..a few sizes larger. Voila ...presto change..the Doublemint Twins.

My favorite scene was Gracie sitting next to poor Rosario who was just rescued, by the way , from one demon only to be subjected to another demon as a dinner companion. You have to admit that Gracie has a never ending supply of pure nerve. I loved the look on her face as she reached across Rosario to confiscate her plate of food, silverware, and glasses. That takes super nerve. Diana Castro knows exactly how to play a villain whom viewers can love to despise. Gracie is the queen of mean. ...move over Leona Hemsley.

floridia, I SO agree with you about Don Julio Aleman. I have looked up many of the articles about him as I had only seen him in the rerun of "Soy Tu Duena". I thought he was such a distinguished and handsome looking man with a BEAUTIFUL voice and perfect diction. If only I could speak Spanish like Don Julio.

I found an interview they did with him shortly after he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was devastated by the diagnosis and was not afraid to show his tears on camera.

QEPD, Don Julio.

Fatima

Ale may have called Monse names but did he threatened to kill her while she was pregnant, himself several times? To murder a pregnant woman takes a lot of crazy so to me that trump bad names? JL is slime and as for redemption? Time will tell. Ale is no saint but he's not an obsessed stalker who sneaks in bathroom and cars then lie like a rat about it.
Romy

"move over Leona Hemsley. "

Oh my, Susanlynn, what a perfect comparison for our Gaundy Girl. I do admire Daniela though continuing in this segment of the story to play the character without makeup and her usual costuming flair. Still nails the whole character without it.

Daisynjay

Great recap, thank you for preparing that for us. Right now I am having love/hate relationship with this tn, but still as obsessed as ever. I feel in my bones that some of these actors are having to grit their teeth to perform certain "idiota" scenes. When Monse was spking with Kevin munching on Chops was so mundane and obvious commercial. Going on romantic get away? Hahahaha, shurrrr.

That question BM asked Pedro about who helped him was to keep us hanging in suspense so we don't stop watching. I had already figured it was BM, but now I am really curious.
I have one question, if someone could be so kind....why was it necessary for BM to shoot Adolph in the leg? She coulda just shot in air and then n run away. I feel that really is going to make Dim wonder. Especially after Adolph himself tells Dim that narcos always turn on each other.

I feel so disloyal to Adolph. I was always on his side, but I really sick of how he always enables Maria and portraying himself in false lite. Only difference between EZ Basura and him is that he seems to love Fina, and Ez just used Carlota. If he really loved Fina he would not have put her in danger and not even tell her or warn her!!!

Wow, just noticed my comment too long. My apologies, that's why I try not to comment, for fear of guessing right and being called spoiler and now stressing cuz it IS too long.

Novella lover, your comment is NOT too long. We have no limits on words here.

I "hear ya" re Adolfo. I'd like to give him a good slap in the face for what he is doing to Fina.

Fatima

I am joining the line of folks who think Dim is suspicious of his old drinking bud.

Trust me. When your family is under stress , you do not decide to "get away" for a romantic interlude. No way. It is time to bring this show to a conclusion. The writers are weaving and bobbing in all directions.

"Who helped Ped ?" is taking on the importance of "Who shot JR ?" I just figured that it was one or some of his paid help. We are running out of bad guys as candidates. Maybe it was Kevin or Busker dude. I really do not care at this point . We have seen the much anticipated celIphone toss , so I am ready to move on to the next crazy novela that Uni has to offer. To quote my dear friend Carlos........NEXT.

Thank you for a fantastic recap Julia! I just loved "In her own little corner, in her own little chair" - lyrics from the song in Cinderella. Maria does think she's some kind of (psycho) Princess.

"I readily admit I often write long comments. The recappers are so talented and generous with their time, I think we (the commenters) want them to know how much we appreciate them and these gifts they give us daily. I absolutely agree with you Diana. I didn't know how much the comments meant to the recappers until I wrote recaps. I always looked forward to hearing what others were thinking. Diana, your comments were one of the things that kept me going during PSMA. Thank you.

Okay, my crackpot theory - Pedro told Maria that the one who helped him after he was shot was "The person you'd least imagine/expect". My guess is either Sandro, who Maria believes she killed but I still believe is not dead, or Gracie. Gracie spent a year cooped up in her room not just because Fabiola killed herself, but because Gracie saved the life of the guy that gave Fabs the gun. I think that's why Gracie had the balls to refuse Pedro's request for money. He owed her. Gracie didn't realize that Pedro's payback would be hell.

Ah, Romy:

JL's bark is worse than his bite when it comes to Monse. He remembered what Angie told him about how Monse liked the forceful Ale, and I do admit JL went too far with the threats. That's why I am so glad he is straightening up and flying right. Just my own humble opinion.

As far as the comments go, you may write them as long as you like. There are no limits here. I so enjoy all the conversations here and like to know what people think whether I am recapping or not. We have a commenter, over on Pobres that sometimes does two comments after another because he doesn't comment often, and we so enjoy reading his take on the episodes because he has a unique point of view.

xIntperuvian:

I like your Crackpot theory. Sanho and Gaudy, now that is interesting. I can't wait to find out who it was. I'm sure, I hope we will eventually find out, hmmmmm.

OK:

Amelia couldn’t text?

The assistant had a confidential letter addressed to Demetrio and didn’t wait to put it in his hands?

Why did Mon engage in convo with Maria (unless it was one of those just can’t turn away scenarios like some people are at an accident scenes)?

No one “you” would suspect helped Pedro. Here’s my guess:

Padre Anselmo!!!!!

Fatima: about Carlotta deserving to know the truth. I think you have an excellent point. I still like that Ale lied, though. She’s gone through enough. And she seems to be accepting her part in it. Maybe later they can tell her what really happened? I’m on the fence about that. Glad to see you’re hanging in there while this TN ramps up for the gran finale.

Demetrio did seem a little suspicious of Adolfo’s info and how he got it.

I’m curious about what the writers have in store for Virginia. They could have just let this character stay off camera.

Novella Lover: don’t worry about the length of your comments. Remember, we all have choices. As someone noted before, just skip the long ones if you don’t want to read them. Problem is, you’ll miss A LOT of good stuff. Re: Adolfo. I think both he and EZ are basically cowards.

Carlos: I was enjoying Maria’s antics, but now I’m kind of ready for her Karmageddon. By-the-way, you would be disappointed in the villainess in MCET. She’s very vanilla—at least so far.

Nanette

Hi again, everyone!

I'm a little rushed this PM and can't get back to all of you individually, but just wanted to say thanks to all for reading and also that, as your re-capper today, I ADORE long comments!!!! I also ADORE short comments, and I ADORE medium-sized comments, too. In fact, I ADORE ALL COMMENTS.

I began at Caray Caray thinking I was doing the recap to improve my Spanish, but these days I do it almost exclusively (in case it's not obvious yet) because I love reading what all of you have to say. Not sure when this shifted--but it was probably the morning after Capitulo 3, the first one I ever did.

So thanks to you all for reading and contributing to the discussion. Assuming we've got 196 capitulos total, I think this is my penultimate recap for Caray Caray, so I really love hearing from you in these last few weeks.

Best to all,
Julia R.

Julia---This isn't the first time
that a recappers pen has been on fire but I'm sure that yours had melted from the heat before you were finished. Excellent from the title on. Your title was a home run but you didn't stop there, you scored hit after hit all the way to the end.

Pedro's bionic ears.

Seriously slow on the up-take law enforcement officers.

We are treated to yet another uplifting scene: Maria with a gun.

A familiar unwelcome voice growls
from the doorway.

Light Temptations and dark thoughts.

There's more but anon doesn't like it so I will stop with those.

Anonymous 8:06---Caray, Caray! is
my only novela discussion forum. I go on for too long at times so as Daisynjay said, if that bothers you , just skip over the comments that seem long. It's an easy solution and no one will be offended as they will never know.

Daisynjay---I did notice. Dim is starting to catch on. You could see it in his face. The light bulb
is starting to brighten.

Talking about did we notice---I couldn't help but notice Carlota's
black dress with little bits of dark blue and dark green mixed in.
I thought it was stunning.

EZ's letter---It wasn't meant for Refugio but he opened it anyway---
must see tv tonight.

I felt Amelia's pain all the way out here. She could have gone outside to make the phone call behind the bushes or someplace where Pedro wouldn't find her. Bad move on her part.
the gringo

Jarifa: I was thinking the same thing! a romantic weekend away? with lunatics on the loose? sure!

Daisynjay: I agree with you as well. I think Dimi is suspicious, but not sure, of Adolfo's involvement. I think he's been suspicious since he realized that Pedro was not La Alacron.

xIntperuvian: Gracie helped Pedro? does make me think! we know we can't put anything past her and her treachery!

Anon: I, like others, don't have anyone to talk to about my obsession. I only know one other person who watches TN's and we don't get to talk everyday or in very much detail. I'm new on here, but I enjoy both the recaps and the long comments. it assures me that i'm not the only obsessed crack-pot theorist out here!

from some of the comments I've read today, it seems like everyone speaks some form of Spanish. I do speak a little and can get the just of what they're saying, but am I the only one that watches with CC3 English captioning? and would that disqualify me from being a recapper in the future? just curious...

the English captioning comment came from me - obsessed! forgot to sign off!

OT: Osvaldo Benavides has comedy movie in post produciton. Sounds like a lot of fun. It's set in the US.

Carlotta begged Ale to tell her that Ez died saving Rosario. I think that a lie is sometimes a kindness. Carlotta only recently learned about the kind of man her beloved husband really was. Ale told Carlotta what she needed to hear right now because he loves her and wants to comfort and protect her . Someday, Carlotta may learn the truth. In fact, in her heart of hearts she might actually realize that Ale has spared her the truth about EZ's end t soften the pain of betrayal that she is feeling.

No,Anon it wouldnt,it would make your future job easier actually, though captions can get it wrong sometimes,i watch Nivelas without subtitles,i watched Novelas on TV before with Subtitles for quite some time so i got used to it,i sometimes do not understand certain actors or phrases but it is fun learning them :)

Let me express my dissatisfaction on the choice of footwear the characters are wearing, a mad man is stalking you, wear shoes you can run in you morons!

On the long comments- I personally appreciate them, a lot! When I recap sometimes I miss things or mean to point something out but then get so tired or distracted that I don't, and many many times someone will write a comment that touches on what I missed or wanted to address, the recapping process is hard, it takes me on average three to four hours to get one done and recapping is not something everyone can do. I will be taking a break after MCET because I need a breather, working a full time job, plus family obligations and a significant other plus recapping makes my plate more than full! It's not easy and not everyone has the time to do it, also, please remember that a lot of the folks here are not native speakers and although they would like to recap the language barrier makes it hard!

Finally, I think Padre Anselmos chickens are the ones that helped Pedro. Boom! Beat that theory!

Thanks for the recap.

I don't know about all you Crackpot Theorists, but I'm really worried about Refugio now. If he doesn't give Dim the letter ASAP, Adolfito might find out he has it and might foil his plans to give it to Dim. Adolfito is a troubled soul and is really deep into the dark side when trying to be on the good side.

Somehow I knew Gracie was going to crash the family dinner. I didn't think she would take Rosario's plate though. Typical Gracie right there, I guess. She could very well be the one who saved Peddy. Right now, of course, Maria is pretty much his only known ally (at least known to viewerville).

I'm still scratching my head over Amelia. Why is she with Peddy again? Hopefully she stays away from him after he beat her up.

I think Dim is slowly starting to become suspicious of Adolfito. I hope he figures it out all soon.
--TF

Eli:

You made my day with your comment, especially the shoe one. None of these women, except maybe for Carly and Rosy wear flats, the higher the better they think.

Loved your Crackpot Theory about the Padre's Chickens, so that's where they went too. They are also undead, I still can't stop laughing.

TF:

In answer to your question about Amelia and Peddy and why Amelia is with him. She wanted to get the goods on his criminal activity because she felt that Peddy was responsible for Joaquin's suicide and bad way of life, although Joaquin was probably already that way. She told JL she was going to get the goods on Peddy, but he really wasn't down with the idea, but she assured him she would give the proof to JL so he could put him in the prison. Amelia really tried, but she could never get the goods on Peddy. Peddy actually has given himself away over the years, and now JL and the Navy have lots of proof of his dirty dealings and can arrest him, if they could just find him!

Madelaine- the shoe thing is all I could think about last night, especially when Montse and Fina ran back inside the house, I was waiting for Montse to fall on her face.

I appreciate long, thoughtful comments too, they fuel the discussion more then " I lieked it,plez mayk some more sista!" Also they help point out flaws in the recap, missing stuff, for example scenes which are hard to understand ( Scenes on the crowded market, two people talking at the same time, rare phrases, misheard conversations) . And like Gringo said , there arent any quality forums to discuss or share English recaps,i think that this website is the only one that does it so people tend to post long comments because appreciate the hard work the Recappers put effort into and people don't have any other place to do it. And Telenovelas often bring up hot debates .Trust me its not that easy to write recaps,it consumes time, even for a proffesional. The recapper has to watch the episode(Sometimes even rewatch certain scenes if neccesary) ,put effort in making good Screencaps if he/she wishes to,create good lines. Not only that but personal life can interfere with the writing ,thats why there are multiple people on the shift so if one person cannot do it,the other person will.

Fatima and Susanlynn,

The thing that bothers me about Alejandro's "white lie" to Carlota is that it sets her up to hear the ugly truth from one of the Mean Girls, either María (who KNOWS) or Graciela (who could probably make a good guess which would immediately be confirmed by the guilty look on Alejandro's face) -- or maybe from the ultimate Mean Girl, Pedro himself.

Short and sweet: I love long and involved comments!

Oh good lord, Eli. The Chickens!! We should have thought of that before. That sneaky Pedro has been hiding them all this time.
( Love it!!!)

Seriously, I had been thinking it might have Amelia all this time, but not after what happened last night. Now I'm stumped if it's not the chickens and someone we would least expect. Macario wouldn't care, Gracie is almost too obvious, so that leaves me with Ale, JL(now too obvious?), Dim, Refugio or Victor. Had to be someone who could carry or help carry a big guy.Or Eric isn't what he seems????

I'm leaning to Refugio since he became the nosy ninny last night opening that envelope.

And the comment on Virginia. That little quip from Dim about having to pay....oy. I just don't like her and Dim together. Never did, still don't. If he doesn't wind up with Fina after all, I would rather see him with someone else more mature as a fast forward or maybe just be the awesome uncle and Captain (future Admiral) and leave it at that.

Daisynjay

Good point, Novelamaven.. I thought that Ale and JL were the only witnesses, and I did not think that JL would burst Carlota's bubble now that he has turned over an old leaf. I am confused about how Malria knows that Ale shot EZ. Was she there watching in the shadows either before or after she terrorized Rosario ?

Madelaine,

Thanks for the explanation. I remember that now the Amelia offered to get the inside info from Pedro. Seeing how he's been running around, visiting Maria etc. I figured he wouldn't go back with her. At first I thought Virginia wasn't going to do anything about Peddy being there with Amelia, but she proved to be smarter than I thought.
--TF

Even if one of the nasties tells Carlota the truth now, the first impact of his death is over with and she can now handle it. I would love for them to try to make Ale come off as a liar and for Carly to retort, "I'm glad he told me that. It's what I needed at the time."

LOL - Gaudy coming out for dinner. Her faked "oh, I'm so weak I have to stay in bed and you all have to treat me like a queen and be at my beck and call" little ruse didn't work. Instead of being at her disposal, they all just blithely sat down to dinner and totally ignored her. That's why she had to drag her a$$ out of bed and perform. It was funny to me that everyone just rolled their eyes at her and went on with what they were doing without even commenting on her behavior. Now what?

"The Ultimate Mean Girl, Pedro himself., heh..Do you think that he would be a match for Lindsay Lohan ? nah..probably not..maybe Gracie could stand up to her.

Julia Rold:

What a fine recap this is! It is always such a pleasure to read your work. I have loved being on this recapping team with you.

I have to confess, I was happy to have ordered an extra case of Mixed Rotten Vegetable™ Nerfazos from Novela Maven last week. I used every one during last night's capitulo. I even re-threw a few when the blasted thing was over.

Tonterias!

You all have mentioned most of the stupidities but the worst, for me, was Alejandro lying to Carlota and Montserrat looking on approvingly. ¿QUE?

Why was it better to lie to Carlota? She already knows she was married to a con artist and dirtbag. Knowint the rest would not have killed her and at least she would have had the full story. Why make EZ out to be a HERO???

Crikey!

Thanks again, Julia.

I can't fault for Alejandro and Monse's white lie to Carlota. All three of them will need all the strength they have until Gracie's Karmageddon. The last thing Carlota needs is more verbal abuse from her.

I'll say it again: After Gracie's little verbal abuse of Laurito's sensibilities I'd kick her out and never see her again. With narcissists it never gets any better.

Ditto to all comments about the women's shoes. I need to pay attention to Nadia's because if she's wearing heels I'll scream.

Re the shoes. I sometimes see women trying to walk around campus via the cement pathways wearing these CFM shoes. I try not to stare and rubberneck , but I cannot help myself because it is just fascinating to watch them try not to fall and break something or several things. This winter , I was watching from a third floor window while a girl tried to negotiate the ice covered sidewalks wearing stilettos. Amazing. She did not fall, but I think that she was hanging onto some poor guy. Mony had better get herself a pair of running shoes with Ped and her evil twin Malria on the loose.

Thanks Julia. I always enjoy your clever, detailed, very entertaining, amusing recaps.

Lots of María last night and not necessarily in a good way.

As for Alejandro lying to Carlota, heck, I would have been surprised if he told her the truth. Lying is the principal means of communication with these folks. We are all inured to it. No one even blinked an eye when Montserrat reassured Laurito that Rosario was not in Heaven... she was in the hospital.

Nanette, I love your theory about Padre Anselmo. It actually makes sense because in his line of work he is obligated to help those in need whoever they may be. I can't remember though, was the Padre back from his forced sabbatical when Pedro needed help?

I too have been wondering about Virginia's presence. Just a guess, maybe she's meant to end up with JL. It would be sort of Biblical if she did; a variation of 'if one brother dies the next brother marries the widow'.

I have noticed that Maria has been wearing the same pair of shoes for weeks now, every day with every outfit. She's probably due for a new pair of Odor Eaters.

Anonymous @ 2:15: I did my first ever recapping on PSMA. I am a beginner in the Spanish language and I always use the English captions - unless they're lagging behind the dialogue. Then they become too distracting. I watched the episode online and wrote an outline with as much dialogue as I could catch or I would write a brief description of the scene. Then I'd watch the episode on TV with the English captions. I was amazed at how much I was actually able to pick up in the initial viewing. I would encourage you to give recapping a try if you want to. Once you "get a toe in the water" you'll find it's really fun! Caray! Caray! has the most wonderful group of commenters that I've ever encountered and if you make a mistake or don't catch something they are more than happy to help fill in the gaps in the comments. I am thinking about recapping again, but my hubby was recently diagnosed with cancer and will be having major surgery soon so I don't know if I can commit to a new TN or not.

I said this earlier and totally agree.

NovelaMaven, yes, I agree with your observations, too. :)

I've wondered about some of the crazy tacones for some time now!!! I saw a woman at the crosswalk this morning. Clearly she was walking to her office, but I kinda wondered why she would dress like she was going out on a date with stilettos, tight dress, long, bed kind of hair, etc. It was perfect for a date, but for the workplace?! HOLY COW!

I love fancy shoes, but there is a time and a place, LOL!

Nanette, almost forgot! Thank you for your noticing that I am still managing to hang around. I could barely take it last night. Seeing Amelia get beat up was so upsetting that I cannot tell you. I just turned the TV off.

I can't wait to see Osvaldo's movie!!!

Lying to Carlota is likely only to be a temporary situation. She will be able to handle the truth after Gracie's anvil falls. She might be peeved at Alejandro and Monse for a minute but she'll be tough enough for the real truth without Gracie rubbing her nose in it. She will also be very understanding about the lie.

Please no "X Anos Despues"! If we advance to when Lauro is a teen we know that Alejandro and Monse won't look a day older and that would be too much.

xlntperuvian: So sorry to hear about your husband. An abundance of prayers and good wishes sending your way.

Of course Monse looked way better in the dress! She is skinny! Thick girls like Maria do not look good in most outfits.

xlntperuvian: I am sorry to hear about your husband. Wishing for him a speedy and successful recovery.

I think Maria has a lovely figure. She doesn't look good in the clothes that Mons wears, but she has her own style which is very becoming.

(((Xintperuvian))) I am sending out good vibrations for your hubby. )))))))))

xlntperuvian: Thinking of you and your husband. Good vibes from me and headbutts from Carmen and Figaro.

I didn't attack the recappers. I think they are all great. BUT if your comment is longer than the entire recap, condense or maybe make several short comments. I am also interested in what you have to say, but I don't want to read your thesis on the TN.

xlntperuvian: I'm sending prayers your way for your husband and for you during this hard time.

I definitely agree with you. The commenters on this blog are marvelous. They bring so many great insights about the characters on the show, and I love the humor in their witty observations. All the comments are so fun to read!

Julia, thanks for your recap. It was entertaining and very thorough. I actually watch the show a day later on hulu, and I'm glad to have the recap to know which parts to skip (Pedro's beating of Amelia). Very helpful.

Graciela hit another low for me with this episode by taking Rosario's plate at dinner. She had no respect that Rosario nearly died by the hands of drug overlords. Her behavior was despicable, and I can't believe nobody called her out for it.

Thanks again, Julia! You've done a marvelous job!

@Peruvian
I am sorry to hear about your husband. Sending healing vibes his way. God bless

Julia thanks for a superb recap. I'm running a little late today but I didn't want the day to end without acknowledging your excellent work.

And to all my fellow commentators, with little or lots to say, thanks for making this such an awesome place to hang out and discuss our novelas. Although I am a fluent Spanish speaker I have no one to talk with about the shows I watch so I am grateful to have found this site and all of you.

As for the show, I only hope Pedro's anvil weighs a ton. He sure gets his kicks from abusing defenseless women. As for who helped him, I am deeply intrigued and hope we find out soon. My guess is that it was nthe Tundra!

Maricruz

xlntperuvian best wishes for your husband's surgery
Maricruz

xlntperuvian, I hope things go well with your husband's surgery and recovery.

Xintperuvian, let me add my best wishes for you and your husband. I hope all goes well with his surgery and recovery.
