Hasta El Fin Del Mundo #10: 8/29/14: Do You Know Paco, Anybody?

Hola Amiguis! The after affect of Paco hiding behind the shrubbery is revealed and here is an earworm for poor Armando Workin For A Living Shall we begin:

After Chava revealed that he had been talking to Paco behind the shrubbery, Greta doesn't look well, she has gotten pasty white and I swear she is having fit of the vapors! She gets into the car. Fausto comes too and Sofia says its time to go. Chava thinks that Fausto is opening his door for him, but nah not so much, they go on their way.

Irma is lugging those cosmetics she bought and tries to catch the microbus. It stops, she wasn't quick enough and the boxes get knocked out of her hand and the microbus runs over some of them . Irma is pithed.

Armando is driving Alexa and she seems to be in a mood.

Chava and the group get back to the Ripoll mansion. The whole group goes in the house, but Greta wants Chava's help with something. They walk the lawn.

Alan from Spain calls Alexa. She tells him she'll do it in second and has Armando stop at a bank. She is going to transfer money from this card to Spain, but it can't be done. I guess Greta put a hold on all money to be transferred overseas. Alexa is not happy.

Chava is trying to talk to Greta and begs her pardon if he offended her. Greta heard him mention Paco's name. Chava asks if she knows him. No, no, don't know him. Chava explains to Greta that Paco never mentioned any names, but some woman betrayed him and he had to do with money too. Chava explains that he has known Paco all of his life and he's a nice guy. She tells Chava to go.

Sofia is in her home office. and Fausto brings her a drink. Sofia asks is he knows this Don Paco from the barrio. He has a store across from the Ripoll factory.

Meanwhile, Marisol is at Don Paco's store and she's giving him the chisme that her Mama Lupe has a boyfriend. Paco tells Marisol that her Mama Lupe is a good person and deserves to be happy. Marisol seems to think Don Paco is the boyfriend. Them's fighting words cause next thing is Mattias has come to talk to Paco and is summarily told to leave. Paco is still bothered by Greta's betrayal. Lupe comes in and asks why Paco's eyes look all cray cray! He said Marisol was just in asking about her novio. I think Lupe thinks he needs one, she is also made to leave.

Lucas is at a cafe and has turned most of the money over from those clients to to some guy.

Chava has called up the Commandante about his car and the suspected tampering.

Mattias and Marisol have gone to the same cafe Lucas is at, and Marisol is liking him. Lucas is calling Dani to meet up with her. He texts her the directions where he is.

Pato is on the phone and talking to Sofia, while Silvana follows him to see what he is up to. Silvana is acting like she is leaving and Pato says he told Sofia just to get some rest. Silvana is going home and he wants to have a coffee with her. She agrees to go.

Sofia is spying on Chava as he washes the car and is singing. She likes what she sees so much, she ignores Pato on the phone. take that Snidely Whiplash, speaking of that, xInt gave me this idea from her comment yesterday and here is Snidley Whiplash. She finally remembers that Pato is on the phone and he tells her to just stay at home, no more bidnez today. Sofia takes a deep breathe, she is still watching Chava and goes. She ends up going up behind me and scaring the wits out of him. She tells him she won't need him the rest of the day. He tells her he talked to the Commandante about his car. She feels for him.

                                            Take That Pato!
Dani packs up some clothes and is on her way out.

Irma is at the mall, trying to sell her wares. She insults the Patrona of a salon, and the clients and workers don't like her stuff. She even tries to sell the stuff to some maintenance workers for their wives or girlfriends or maybe themselves. They send her off.

Dani is going out when Sofia asks her where she is going? Why to Biology class. She's taking a taxi. Dani said she heard about Don Paco, she heard his name. She tells Sofia he has that little store right across from the Ripoll factory and won't carry their chocolate there.

Meanwhile, Chava has gone to meet the Commandante, and the forensic guys are all over Big Foot. They know for sure now that the car was tampered with. Not only did the radiator leak, but also the fuel. He tells Chava he could have been killed, and he's got a bad enemy. The Commandante says that they will be checking the security cameras in the garage area and need statments from Armando and the crew. They will treat this case as an attempted homicide. The Commandante tells Chava to be very careful.

Silvana and Pato are eating and he wants her to get some info on
Greta. Why hasn't she been to the Factory in years? All of them where friends for years and she stopped coming there. Why, were there secrets? What is her past? Silvana will try. Silvana is going home and he wanted her to stay and she says some other time. After Silvana leaves, Pato gets on is laptop and pulls up ADN (DNA) labs. Silvana sees through the window and wonders what he is up to? Pato thinks to himself he can't wait until Sofia is thrown off her Pedestal.

Greta is trying to work but nothing is going right. She can't work like this with all these memories.

Sofia has been trying to do a deal in Argentina and Fausto comes in with the mail. He tells her that if she feels like crying go for it. Fausto also tells Sofia that Alexa went out. Sofia is wondering where Alexa got the dinero.

Alexa flits from store to store at the mall, and poor Armando is the pack mule. He has to carry all her things. We'll get back to them in a tic.

Greta is outside and Fausto comes out and Sofia sees them and spies on them. Greta is a bit worried about Alexa but Fausto reminds her that Armando has strong arms. Now he asks her if she knows Paco. Yes, she does Greta admits to Fausto. Greta admits when they were young they were friends. Fausto gets it, sort of like accomplices I think is what he said. Sofia hears it all.

My Name is Fausto. Tell Me Your Secrets And Have A Chocolate

Chava is home and and telling Lupe about the tampering of the car. She wants to know why he isn't at work. He tells her about the Maestro's death and how the Maestro was important and he had secret recipes for the chocolate. Now Chava asks her about her galan. Chava tells her she needn't explain, if she is happy, then he is happy.

Irma has called Armando and reminds him about Nandito having to go to Taekwando. She reminds him she is working, and he's working too he says. Both Alexa and Armando run into Irma, who is highly pithed off and thinks this isn't work for Armando and insults Alexa. Armando tells Irmna he is working and she just insulted his Patrona. Irma wanted a ride, but, no ride for her! Armando goes with Alexa.

Dani goes to Cuco's cafe, changes into what she stuffed in her bag and meets Lucas. They have a big ole smooch while Cuco looks on.

Mattias has gone to the Maestro's grave and he wants him to get drunk with him. He thanks the Maestro for beleiving in him. He thanks the Maestro for his patience with him and he owes everything he is to the Maestro. He needs a good big Patio hug. He pours a shot on the Maestro's grave and Salute!

Lupe is in her room, looking at a picture of Javier when Chava comes. To Chava he is dead, but not to Lupe. OM Cheese (Thanks Eli) Please dont' let Lupe hook back up with him!

Good Afternoon Y'all:

The recap is finally up. Please enjoy it; and I'd like to thank xInt for giving me the idea about Snidely Whiplash!

"My name is Fausto. Tell me a secret and I'll give you a chocolate." was my favorite. From the screen shots to the earworm to the recap itself, it was very entertaining. Thanks, Mads.

So, now Alexa wants money to bankroll Alan? Wasn't he the one that got rid of all of her stuff in Spain? Is this just more proof she is nuts? Did I miss something? I was so happy to see she could not make a cash withdrawal.

Seems like the "hiding in plain site forever bitter Paco" is on everyone's mind. We can guess he got a real raw deal in life but he did end up having a wife and a business of his own. He needs some therapy ASAP. I really got a kick out of the part last night where Dani was recounting to Sofía her experience at Paco's store when she asked why there was no Ripoll chocolate and Paco told her that selling it would be an insult. Sofía then asks Dani why didn't she ask him why he'd say something like that about their last name. Dani laughs nervously and says she thought he'd get all hairy and start howling. I guess just like the wolfman, eh? LOL

At least Sofía had a little Chava viewing on the QT while he was washing the car to help her in her grieving.

Another great and poignant scene was between Greta and Fausto towards the end (Sofía is listening from a doorway) where Greta admits to him that she knows Paco and that years ago; he, Octavio and she had friends in common. As youths they had shared happiness and sadness. Hearing Paco's name flooded her head with memories. She then adds that for those who die it is all over but for those who survive they end up becoming the guardian of the memories of the dead and in some way they also become the dead's accomplices.

I also liked the illustrations accompanying the explanation of how Chava's car was tampered with.

Good episode.

Jarifa

Madelaine, what a bright, clever recap. You set the breezy tone early: "Chava thinks that Fausto is opening his door for him, but nah not so much" and had me laughing away.

Thank you for the excellent Huey Lewis ear worm – a great song!

I absolutely loved your screen shot and caption “My Name is Fausto. Tell Me Your Secrets And Have A Chocolate”. Inspired.

Also ejoyed Sophia ogling Chava and ignoring Pato - the Snidley shot was greatly appreciated! A great flashback.

"Greta doesn't look well, she has gotten pasty white and I swear she is having fit of the vapors!" Indeed. I'm glad however she had the sense to ensure Alexa couldn't transfer money abroad. At least she is just enabling Alexa and not Alan.

I fail to see what and Dani and Maisol see in Lucas. Trying to think back to when I was their age, I fail to see the attraction. Maybe a bad boy vibe?

Jarifa, thank you for the details on Fausto and Greta's discussion. You always add so much to the discussions.

Hub's dispatcher promised he would get him home to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary today. That didn't happen so I've been a bit blue. However, am now buoyed by your terrific recap Madelaine. Spending this day with people you admire and appreciate, even online is still a good day!

Diana

oh, oh, the quote is "have a chocolate". Looks like I misquoted you, Mads! My bad.

Jarifa

Loved the car washing scene. Sofia was so adorable while lurking and she even forgot about Pato on the other line! Ha!

Irma offering the makeup to the workers to use for themselves was pretty funny. She should really have the nickname Irkme, I just couldn't stand her yelling at the mall.

Greta and Paco really seem attached to the past. Someone needs to give them some therapy sessions.

Dani and Lucas give me zero feelings so far. Alexa and Armando are getting there but I'm definitely feeling the attraction between Sofia and Chava. Can't wait for them to hook up! (even though it's going to take at least 50 more episodes )

Mads, Thank you so much for another terrific recap! This was a good episode. I liked Sofia spying on Chava and Irma trying to sell her cosmetics to the guys was just a hoot, "for your mothers... your girlfriends... your wives... or yourselves if you're into that kind of thing"

Alexa's boyfriend in Spain must be a real loser or into something bad. Didn't he tell Alexa in an earlier episode that he had sold all the furniture? The money Sofia sent to Alexa in Spain must have gone into upkeep for Mr. Wrong. Alexa bought cheap perfume at the airport gift shop for Dani, too.

I felt bad for Matias drinking at Coria's grave. Poor guy.

So, I now supposed to believe that Sofia likes short, pasty and skinny over THE RIPPLING INCREDIBLE MUSCLES that I am certain Patrick is hiding under that suit? Two things:

1: May Patrick, Matias, Lucas, Armando's 10 year old son or even Grumpy Paco ever remove their shirts because Chaka will have a lot of competition.

2. Sofia has not slept with Patrick and has to be incredibly horny. In the words of Eddie Murphy: only a hungry man eats stale, saltine crackers, and thinks that they are the best thing he's ever eaten. Did they come up with a new recipe?

Don't get me wrong, I think that anyone can fall in love with anyone. But Pack has "grow on her" or he's got "earn it with his personality" looks. He doesn't have "I gotta have me some of that" looks.

Jarifa:

Thank you kindly for all the bits I missed. I got a big chuckle about the werewolf reference that Dani gave about Paco, too funny. He'd make a great wolf man I must say. Yes, Alan is a dirt bag of the worst order. He did sell all of her things once she left Spain, including the furniture. I wonder if he'll show up in Mexico. Also thank you for what Greta and Fausto were talking about. How said, but how deep I must say. She was right.

Diana:

Thank you kindly, and I'm so sorry your hubby wasn't able to make it home. I'm hoping he at least makes it home this weekend. Thirtieth Wedding Anniversay congrats and may you both have many, many more.

I too fail to see what Dani and Marisol see in Lucas. He is so smarmy. I feel for Miguelita too. I hope she never quits her job.

I too am glad that Greta have the forethought not to let money be transferred out of the country. I think she knew this would happen.

TomBoy:
Thank you kindly.

Yes, Irma is irksome, I can't stand her. And to insult Alexa, I had to laugh when Armando told her that that was his Boss. I think Greta and Paco never got over each other. I wonder if she even knows that the Maestro stole Paco's recipes. I want more of their back stories.

Jarifa:

It's okay, I actually thought of putting that first and then said, nah have a chocolate was better;

xInt:

Thank you kindly. Yes, Irma's little spiel was too funny. Those guys made me laugh with the looks they gave her. Yes, Alan is Mr. Wrong, big time. He sucked money from Alexa right and left. I am so glad she wasn't able to do that transfer. Oh, and Mattias that was so very sad. Paco treats him badly because he was the Maestro's apprentice. Paco needs to deal.

Cynderella:

Thank you kindly and you are so very funny! I get what your saying, but I'm liking the change in dynamics here. If Pato was on the up and up, I'd root for him, but he's so slimy, I can't stand him.

Isn't Pato counting his chickens before they are hatched? Does he think he can ferret out Sofia's Papa? He'd need that for the ADN lab. How does he think he can just get rid of Sofia like that? This is a family owned company, not a public company. If Sofia is found not to be a Ripoll, Greta would have to take over, Alexa can't deal and Dani is too young. I can't wait to see how he thinks he is gonna do this. I hope Sofia never marries him.

I know Pato wants to take Greta down a peg for her not treating him well, but I don't get what else he thinks he is going to accomplish with his possible discovery unless he is planning to blackmail her. Could Greta be that mortified about the identification of Sofía's real dad to allow herself to be blackmailed? Pato is pretty stupid if he thinks that this will endear him to Sofía if she finds out that he is digging around in her family's private business.

Sofías attraction to Chava made me think of a saying from my grandma quoted to me by my mother: What good is a pretty plate if there is nothing on it?
Chava isn't pretty but he has a lot going for him.

Jarifa

Thanks, Mads! Great recap.

I'm watching the epi right now, and it seems like Silvana feels that Greta also had something to so with her mom's death. She said something about Greta being the last one alive to bear the guilt, as she remembered finding her mother's body. While Pato is playing his own game for financial gain, it seems that Silvie has been playing a long game with personal vengeance as her objective. Both Silvie and Greta seem to be hiding a lot of skeletons in their closets.

Great does know that Paco's recipes were stolen and that Coria and her husband cheated him. We saw her hiding and listening in the flashback when her husband convinced Coria to cheat Paco and cut him out of the biz.

Greta, not Great. :)

Thanks for this excellent recap, Madelaine. How do you manage to consistently turn out so many great recaps each week? As I've said before... you are amazing.

Wow, who could have guessed that the chocolate business would be filled with such intrigue? Does anyone remember Nati and her Cocolbosh from Heridas de Amor? Now that was some chocolate to conjure with.

Carlos

Thanks Mads!

I loved the scene with Sofia staring at Chava as he washed the car. She really loved wha she saw.

So Greta, Coria, & Octavio contributed to Silvana's mother suicide in some way. Interesting.

Matias drinking with Coria's corpse was rather strange. Kind of like Chava kissing the race car and Alexa fawning over the Marilyn Monroe pic. Then he pours the booze on the beautiful flowers. Won't that kill them?

Madelaine - Fab recap. Fausto's "tell me your secrets" photo and caption were my favorites.

Sofia going gaga over Chava in his undershirt washing the car was a hoot. If they didn't do that scene with Chava in slow motion, they should have. I find him very adorable, but Sofia was so thunderstruck that I have a feeling she's never seen a man do manual labor before. She should walk by construction sites.

Did Armando ever tell Irma what his new job was? If not, seeing him walking alongside a beautiful woman and carrying her shopping bags would be a jolt.

Maybe Patricio will try to blackmail Greta to talk Sofia into to selling Ripoll or whatever it is the underwater restaurant mafia wants.

Jarifa:

Your Grandma was very wise. It's so true. What is it to look good if there the light bulb is on but no one is home? Blackmail now I hadn't thought of that. Greta already can't stand Pato, imagine if he tries that? I think Fausto will help her deal with him.

Vivi:

Thank you most kindly. Wow, so this is really intertwined isn't it? All of them being intertwined like that. I think there was a movie in the late 70's or eighties called the "Besty" about a car and how all the owners were intertwined. So Silvana has been on revenge all this time. Hmmmm. I wonder where this will go.

Carlos:

Thank you most kindly.

Yes, chocolate so full of intrigue and the racing too. Now that has always had intrigue, but who knew chocolate could be full of stealing recipes, formulas, etc.

No wonder Paco is full of spite and no forgiveness. It is hard to get a recipe just right, and if you lose it, it is hard to replicate it. Now his chocolates are trademarked along with is recipes and he was never compensated for any of it. The question I have is we still haven't seen all of Greta's back story. When she met Paco, I don't think he was working at Ripoll yet. So that means Greta was single. Now that looked like a swanky party, so could it be she has money and Octavio maybe didn't? And how did Fausto come to work for the family?

Mauricio:

Thank you kindly. It was strange to see Mattias drinking at the graveside, but that alcohol won't hurt the flowers. If they had been in a vase, yes. But there is so much soil I don't think it will hurt them.

Diana - Happy 30th Anniversary to you and hubby! Hope he's back by now and your blue is gone.

Niece:

Thank you kindly.

I too wonder if Sofia has seen a guy to manual labor unless it was Fausto maybe, lol.

Yes, Irkme knows what Armando's job is, but what she didn't take into account is that chofers must trail the Patrona when she shops, lol. I guess Irkme thought it only entailed driving. Now that she knows what Alexa looks like, I worry for Armando's job.

That mob guy wants the land that Ripoll sits on. He wants to build some luxury development.
