Mi corazon es tuyo, #28, 27 Aug 2014... Diego is home!! and instantly gets smitten by Ana... Fanny and Leon have their heavenly hash and Leon gets a sour after taste...

Fer and Nando in the car…

“When you are really really in love, you have no control… and besides that, you give it all… all.”

Ana finds out tomorrow will be the engagement party.

Lo Nuevo…

Ana in the kids room with homework…

Ana sees the drawing of the witch at the kids room… Seba tells Ana Isa even shot (or pushed) darts at her own drawing. They found it funny, Ana not so much. Ana will help them all with homework but first we have to talk. Tomorrow your dad will ask for Isa’s hand… She explains that Fer has to ask permission to Isa’s mom to marry Isa. What about if she does not give permission? That won’t happen… Alicia says she will stay in her room… Ana says you all have to be there, be well dressed and be well behaved. The twins suggest painting Isa… Ana says no pranks allowed.

Isa and MIL at the store with the urge to shop and spend…

Isa and her mom have been shopping for their dresses for the party… first is first and second is second… Isa mocks her mother’s logic. MIL asks the saleslady if they don’t have something more revealing, more provocative. MIL wonders what the engagement ring will look like.

Fer in the library with the engagement ring…

Ana comes in Fer’s library, he is holding the engagement ring. He puts it away. He wanted to talk to her. Fer wanted to tell Ana about tomorrow… already know… it shows you can’t hold any secrets here. Fer asks Ana to talk to the kids about the engagement party… Ana says already did with the small ones. Ana asks permission for her to go out for a while, he asks where… she just responds its personal, I will leave the kids eaten and in bed… what if I had a problem with it? … I would still go… (she leaves, he repeats to himself… ‘something personal’.)

Two filthy jerks in the Chicago office with the debt
Teofilo is arguing with Johnny, its good but it could go better… Johnny wants his money back… Teo is ok but will talk to his accountant before giving his money back… But warns Johnny he will deduct what Johnny owes him.

Ana is on the stage and Jenny has another pain… Ana is done… Johnny comes out and tells Jenny he is the loser… (Univ cut out what Jenny told him…)

Ana in the driveway with the tree branch…

Ana arrives at the house in taxi… runs into Diego who just arrived in his motorcycle… She does not know who that is so she grabs a tree branch and tries to hit him on the head… he blocks her swing… They stare at each other… (until end of beginning credits after comm…. So they had to freeze for quite a while).
Ana mistakes Diego for a burglar… he says he has been called many things, usually handsome, charming… but never a burglar… she threatens she will put him in jail… been there, done that too. But never for burglary… She asks if he is mocking her. He says he is only avoiding getting his head busted open. After some more back and forth insulting and calling names, he is trying to introduce himself ‘my name is Diego… what’s yours?... is it perhaps Isabella?’ Ana takes even more offense in that. He wants a hint so she tells him three letters… beginning with A… he guesses Ana. … Well, glad to meet you, I am Diego Lascurain’. Ana is shocked, takes his helmet off to take a better look… sighs… then she reacts and changes attitude to ‘servant’… even tries to help him roll his bike in…

Fanny in Leon's room with Leon.

Fanny tells him Ana is devastated… he knows Ana is very much in love with Fer… Fanny agrees, she tells Leon that Fer does correspond to her feelings, but he is too stiff about his moral obligation to marry Isa so that the little one grows in a structured family. Leon tells Fanny that it is nasty to have a kid grow far from his dad… He tells her he knows his dad’s name is Joaquin… and he grew away from him, but he has the best mom in the world. Fanny tells him Ana has been looking for her mom but hasn’t found her. (somehow I feel like Leon will eventually tell Fer about this…)

Ana with the Hunk in the house…

Ana brings Diego in the house, which is all dark… She apologizes, she thought he was a burglar. He mocks with her… you treating me that bad… what if I am the love of your life?... Ana says ‘don’t get the pill stuck in my throat either… the only mistake I made was to almost send you to the hospital… please forgive me…’ He does not want her to keep referring to him as ‘Usted’. He asks her to talk to him as ‘tu’. She says ‘Diego’ a couple times, trying to get used to it. He asks if she is his brother’s fiancée.. no I am the kids nanny. Ah! The nanny. He asks what the nanny is doing outside the house at this hour. He would imagine what is under her raincoat. Knowing my brother, he probably is asleep… Ana says nope, he is in there working… Nico comes down… Very happy to see his son… they share hugs and kisses.

Back to Fanny at Leon’s with the hormones…

Why does love have to be so complicated? … or easy, it’s so easy to love you… not true. I am so full of issues. We all are… look around you. They say they are not complicated after all. Leon notes that Fanny has not had an easy last year… and her dad took it in stride when she wanted out of school. Ok done talking and getting a bit warmer… She is ready for going a bit further, more like ALL THE WAY... she begins to undo her buttons… ‘Are you sure, my love?’ ‘never been more sure of anything’… ‘Bonita, I love you’… ‘I love you too’.

Nico and Diego in the house with the gossip…

Nico is bringing Diego up to speed… Fer met his future wife at work… she is a very smart woman… Diego can tell Nico does not like her… ‘I don’t think anyone here does’.

Fer in his bedroom with his memories…

Fer remembers kisses with Ana… ‘have to stop thinking of Ana, have to forget her’.

Ana knocks on his door… he opens his door… ‘it’s a bit late’. She tells him his brother just arrived. He is a bit taken aback. Ana takes her exit. He gets his robe and heads downstairs.

Diego and Nico in living room with alcohol withdrawal…

Diego surprised Fer ate the cake before the recess at his age… don’t blame him, he has not had much experience with women… Nico comments Fer had only one woman, and he married her. Ana comes out and lets them know she told Fer he was here. She offers Diego water, tea, some flavored water… Diego wonders if they have something heavier… typical of my brother… no alcohol, no tobacco… no life.. nothing! Nico says Ana has a trick to get to the cabinet where the heavy drinks are. Ana heads to get the tequila but tells Diego that if she gets caught she will say it was Nico who asked for it. ‘that’s the ticket, woman!’ Diego notes to Nico that Ana is not bad looking. Nico says even better, she is a sweetheart… Diego says he has noticed that too… Down comes Fer nagging that Diego could not come at more ‘regular hours’ (prudentes)?(Ana gets startled since she has the cabinet open). Diego says ‘normalcy’(prudencia) is not his forte. Nico asks them to greet a bit nicer, with a hug… Nico asks Fer directly. Diego opens his arms ready for the hug. Fer thinks about it a moment then goes to hug Diego… Ana is nodding ‘no’ like realizing there is TONS of bad blood between these two brothers.

Fanny and Leon with nothing on…

In his bed… afterwards… Fanny recalls that Ana had told her that the first time had to be magical, wonderful and full of love, ‘but she fell short, I tell you’… (he is real happy to hear it) ‘and you talk to Ana about us?’ ‘we talk about everything, she is my confidant. … (he is glad) before, I wanted to ‘do it’ because my friends had done it and I felt it was time… but waiting for (doing it with) you was the best decision… to wait until you came into my life… I have never been so in love… being with you is incredible. (he kisses her hand)’. ‘Bonita, I love you.’ A cell phone rings, Fanny at first thinks it is hers, and that her dad will kill her, but they figure out it is his cell… and Leon is not happy to find out who is calling…

Back to Dad and the siblings with the bad blood …

Diego asks Fer to have a drink, he declines. Then Diego wants Ana to have a tequilita with them.. Ana says I am in work hours and I suppose the boss would not like me to either. (Fer just gives Ana an annoyed stare). Diego suggests Fer make an exception for his welcome. Fer takes his leave… and tomorrow Ana and I DO have to work. Diego says I am not to blame for my job not being as routine and boring as yours. Fer asks Ana to guide Diego to the blue room. I know you are only the nanny but… Ana 'gets it’, 'I will take Diego upstairs,… but have to make one point.. . Here in this house I have been more than a nanny.’ (Fernando looks like that one hurt). While still staring at Fer, Ana grabs Diego’s bag but it turns out to be much heavier than she anticipated so Diego jumps to help. Ana throws one last thorn on Fer’s by saying ‘its just a bit too heavy’ (pesado is a Spanish word that could mean heavy but also means ‘annoying, a pest’ when referring to a person acting ‘pesado’)). (Fernando looks down, not liking that pill either). Ana takes her exit. Diego asks if ‘everything alright between the nanny and you??’ ‘of course, why wouldn’t it be??’ ‘nothing, I felt the air between you two a bit tense’. ‘I will go to bed, I hope you feel right at home’. ‘you the ultimate correct man’. (Fer leans down to his dad's ear to whisper...) ‘Dad, I would not think it wise for my brother to learn about some things, right?’ ‘like what??’ (but still does the ‘I will be a toumb’ sign on his mouth). Fer heads upstairs… Diego comes to Nico and says ‘no need to explain anything, dad… my compass has shown it to me very clearly… ‘ ‘yeah, right?’ ‘is there or was there anything between Ana and my bro??’ Nico won’t tell, makes the silence sign again.

Ana with the hunk in his room…

Upstairs, Ana is finishing up the prepping of Diego’s room. Diego thanks her. The room is painted same blues and yellows as Nando’s room. Ana asks if he needs anything else. 'Ooohhh if I could tell you all I need… only want to wish you sweet dreams… and hopefully you won’t dream of burglars…’ (there is already a Diego/Ana theme song sung by Pablo M ‘I have you and I don’t have you, I don’t get it and life is slipping …’) (the last comment about burglars gets Ana a bit annoyed and she takes her exit.) ‘that nanny is not bad at all… better said… she is REALLY good’.

Fanny in Ana’s room with the news…

Later, someone knocks in Ana’s room… its Fanny. It’s about 3am…. Ana asks Fanny if she is going to school tomorrow (momentarily she forgot Fanny does not go to school now)… Fanny can’t wait to tell Ana that ‘it happened already…. Leon and I’… Ana is in disbelief, but does not seem to be annoyed, she just wants details… it was incredible, magical, genius!... ‘but you took care of yourselves, right?’ ‘yes, obvious!’ (now Ana really feels like celebrating).

Leon in his room with his heavy heavy secret…

In his room, Leon is ‘it can’t be!!’ (we get to see the message on the phone) ‘Leon, I need you’… ‘Ay, My God!’… (this secret is growing like bread dough)

Ana and the kids in kitchen with hidden secret plan for party
At breakfast, the kids are telling Manuela they are planning a little prank. The twins want Manuela to be in on it… to use the same itchy powder they used with Ana a while back. Luz is saying ‘but don’t let Ana find out…’ just as Ana comes in… Ana won’t buy their trying to deny something is up… you are not thinking of doing ‘something’ tonight, are you?... I warn you angels… don’t get in trouble. Ok?
Diego and the kids in the kitchen with the shark scar…

Diego comes in, gets a warm and effusive greeting by the five youngest ones… Diego is aware that Sebas likes hip-hop. Ana tells Diego Sebas is teaching her… Diego is glad to discover even more talents in Ana. The twins ask Diego about his latest adventures… lots of fun in the falls in Brazil and Argentina. He will show the kids a scar that a shark left him. (ouch!! Looks like a shark did bite him on the thigh, Diego tells them all the story… Ana screams the loudest as he gets to the moment of the shark attack… Diego says he killed the shark with a spear) In comes Fernando and the fun is over… Fer does not want Diego to tell the kids stories that might give the kids nightmares… Diego says he will go running since someone here (Fer) did not wake up too happy. Diego leaves Fer one last ‘good morning’ shot by saying ‘you should be glad that you will get married again’ and leaving a noisy kiss on his cheek. Fernando squirms.

Diego and Nico in living room with Nico's secret issues...
Downstairs, Diego runs into Nico… are you ok, dad?... Nico will talk to him about it later. It is obvious Diego is closer to his dad than Fer.

Johnny at his house with the PSA…

At Johnny’s he finds a paper about the test of Jenny’s… She comes out and asks him what he is doing…he hides the paper behind him. ‘what is the human Papylom? Are you ok?? Of course I am not!! It is a virus!! It is a virus!! He tells her he only cares about her… she apologizes… he gives her a comforting hug. Later, Jenny tells Johnny that the VPH could cause cancer. She has not had the bipsy results yet so she does not know if she has cancer or not. He offers his help, whatever she needs.

The Brujas at their station with the plastic….

At bruja station, MIL is getting her nails done… the doorbell rings but MIL can’t answer it, Isa has to go. Isa is in robe and nags again at her mom before getting the door herself. It is a letter from the bank… it is the credit card from Fernando. Both brujas celebrate the brand shiny new rolls-royce broom that was delivered...

Nico and Ana in the living room with his worries.

Nico wants to talk to Ana… he is worried about Jenny. He has noticed her sad, anxious… he does not know what to do. Ana suggests Nico give Jennifer time… maybe later she will be in better position to tell him. She is only guessing of course, on what could be wrong with her. Nico asks Ana, what if you talk to her??

The brujas in their haunted house with the wedding plans..

At her house, Isa is calling someone… she is ordering a spectacular dinner for the engagement party. The one on the other side at first says they can’t (too short notice) but Isa convinces them saying she can pay them anything they ask). She wants sushi, eel, etc etc… MIL is not so sold on that menu… Isa is going to arrange the tables and chairs… and the band, and the photographers, etc.

The kids at the bus stop with the plan.

At bus stop, the kids are planning what they will do to the witch. They can’t poison her. What about do something to her dress? No, too complicated. ‘gastro pop’ ( think ex-lax powder). Alicia tells the younger ones it is for helping with digestion.

Fernando outside his office building with his stress/guilt.

Fernando invites his secretary Betty to the party tonight. He needs her to bring him some documents. Fer tells Betty he is a bit stressed… she understands. She walks away and he asks himself ‘at what moment did I get myself into this??’

Diego at the park with his memories and pain.

During his run, Diego is remembering meeting Fanny and her telling him ‘I am sorry, Diego… but… I fell in love with your brother… I am going to marry him.’ (back to now) ‘and I loved you so much…’

Previews:

Fernando grabs Ana in the hallway upstairs

Engagement party day is here. All the kids are dressed to the nines. It is asian theme party. Even Leon is there.

Fernando gives his speech at the engagement party…

Isabella has forced Ana to dress some crappy looking lacy sleeves gray suit (supposed ‘gala’ outfit) to the party… The kids are laughing at her looks, Bruno is shocked… Fernando is shrieked at first glance of it.

Marta, thanks for yet another fantastic recap. I enjoyed your "with" organization.

My favorite part happened at the beginning when Ana sees the drawing of the witch (Isabela) and asks the kids who did it. It was so funny to hear Alicia answer with "Fuenteovejuna" and then say that they all did. "Fuenteovejuna" is symbolic of collective responsibility. Spanish trivia alert: "Fuenteovejuna" comes from a 1619 play of the same name by Spanish author Lope de la Vega. It is supposedly based on a true event. The play takes place in a Spanish town called Fuenteovejuna where an evil commandant is finally killed by some towns people. When a magistrate is sent by the king to find out who killed him, the only answer he gets is "Fuenteovejuna". Nobody will give up those who committed the crime: so they all did it. Ultimately the king pardons the town.

I love the new energy that Diego has brought with him and how he picked up that there was something between his brother and Ana. Then there is his great white shark scar.

Congratulations to whoever guessed that Fernando's wife had been Diego's girlfriend first.

I liked Ana saying that she had been more than a nana in the house.

So who is texting León that they need him?

Looks like fun ahead!

Jarifa

Thanks for taking the time to write so clearly about tonight's episode. I absolutely love this TN and I really look forward to watching it and reading the recaps. This one has just the right mix of drama and humor and a great story. The actors, of course, are superb. Silvia Navarro is just the best. Does anyone know if she is actually doing her own pole dancing? I hope this TN goes on for awhile because none of the others seem to appeal to me right now. Isabella de Mayo

I echo the thanks for filling in so much of the detail that I continue to miss.

Why do Ana and Jen live with Johnny if they have a casita? And, does Nicholas know about Ana's other job since he keeps asking Ana about Jen. Do he and Fannie both know about Ana?? Still trying to figure out the fine points.

Awesome Marta and parrot Jarifa's comment on your "with" headings

Yeah, we got someone that will really mix things up, Diego, with a score to settle. Ana better buy some running shoes.

I believe there's another girl out there in Leon land.

I think the name Jenny called Juan was it begins with an a.. and ends with a hole.

Diego - I love scar stories

Isabela - plastic is a girls best friend

Fanny - the first cut is the deepest

Nic - like father like one son

Fernando - nightmares arrive in the middle of the night

Ana - you can't fool him with a trench coat and high heels

Leon - booty call?

Juan - creep

Yolanda - I'm not entitled, I deserve it

The house is still undergoing repair from the fire and must not be ready for habitation.

Nic does not know Ana dances at the club but does know they know each other.

Fanny does know about Ana and her job and knows she signed a contract and owes money to the club owner.

Great work, Marta. We're going to have a hell of a time at this engagement party.

If Isabela is so smart shouldn't she know that pregnant women aren't supposed to eat raw fish?

Another PSA is on the way.

Could this lead to a miscarriage Isabruja won't reveal?

Marta, "Diego is home!! and instantly gets smitten by Ana...Fanny and Leon have their heavenly hash and Leon gets a sour after taste..." One of the most creative titles. Ever.

You were on fire. Your recap was so well detailed and great fun to read. "Ana with the Hunk in the house" and "Ana throws one last thorn on Fer’s by saying ‘its just a bit too heavy’" were among my favorites.

Your vocuabulary was a treat and very much appreciated.

Diego was a breath of fresh air (and "new energy" as you noted Jarifa). Palpable chemistry with Ana right away and of course the kids were enchanted. That scar looked very real, didn't it?

Pablo Montero is kind of cute.I enjoyed he and Salinas as bros in Fuego en la Sangre, and I am sure they will be just as good here. A bit of oil and water. Lots of fun possibilities.

Now we know how to get some real (rather than unforced) glee from Isa - just give the woman a credit card. Such unrestrained joy...

What is Leon's secret? I'm hoping we find out sooner than later.

Well, this will be some party. As Bette Davis noted in All About Eve, fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy ride :)

Oh, Marta this was a perfect morning read with coffee. Just sat back and let the brilliance and humor wash over me.

Lots of good stuff last night. Firstly, I want Ana's PJ's. Like, really want Ana's PJ's. . (And adorable on her too--I wouldn't look like that, but want them anyway.)

I'm all in on the Diego table right now. Fer looked like someone stuck a stick...well you know. Total antithesis of Fer, and maybe we are getting a glimpse at two things now: 1.) Fer was definitely a Nando back in the day, but one even less fun loving I'm guessing. Lucky enough to meet his Ximena and married her (maybe why he's all in with Nando's romance). 2.) maybe what Fer will eventually become is what his brother is now.

I realize that Diego lost his love to Fer, but it seems there is more bad blood on the Fer side than Diego. Maybe Diego called him out for being a workaholic, especially since we know it was Luz who found her mother dead. Where was Fer? we never quite got that info. There might be an interesting story there ( ill wife, workaholic hubby who couldn't handle it so he was never home?) I wanna know!!!

So I don't think it's a coincidence that Leon admits his father's name to Fanny and then gets that phone call. Still leaning to no-good father with a criminal record or in jail. But yeah for he and Fanny make sure to do what her stupid father didn't do...thank you writers for making sure to hit home with that.

UA, great point on the raw fish. I didn't catch the fact she was going with a sushi party. That could be an interesting twist. They get married and then no child. Honestly, I don't want that bruja to be a mother, but I also don't want a fake pregnancy plot.

Boy, I hope Fer was smart enough to put a limit on that credit card, but guesses the idiot didn't. And if he lets Isabitch start humiliating Ana with dorky outfits and put-downs in front of him and he says nothing....guess who's face might find itself on the patio dart board.

Daisynjay

Thank you, Marta, for a wonderful recap. It is clear that you enjoyed this episode and brought out the best parts. I just loved the breakfast table shark story. I remember Pablo Montero as a pretty stiff actor when he started in novelas but he sure has developed, particularly in the role of the rogue.

Jarifa - thanks so much for the explanation of the word fuenteovejuna. Great to know!

I kept thinking about the limit on the credit card. Fernando seems way too distracted to think about this needed action.

UA - hadn't considered the fish issue. Isabruja and Yolanda made such a big deal about it, seems likely that it will figure in one way or another. I hate the idea of a false pregnancy, too, but I am still holding out on the idea that they might not get to a wedding. Instead, the novela will focus on the build-up. Hope springs eternal.

I like the role that Nico plays in this novela (nice twist from the usual with the mother hovering in the background). The actor plays well the role of the sweet guy with diffferent but equally different relationships with his two sons.

Mr. "Oh oh Ana" continues to regret and lament. I would like to give him a wake up call with a taser gun.

What UNIVISION cut out: "comienza con P y termina con "jo". She was too kind to Johnny

What's up with Fanny's upper lip, it seems like she always has her mouth open. Makes her look like a chipmunk.

Ah, the story behind Mr 3-day beard hunk starts to reveal itself.

Another sign of the apocalypse: Johnny shows that he is still human by comforting Jenny. I liked it. Now let's keep him in that scene for the rest of the novella.

Loved the way the story cut right after Nando asked Dad about Diego and when Fanny asked Lion what was wrong after he got that phone call right after their... uh...physical therapy session.

Really Ana? You aimed for the guy's head while he was wearing a helmet? If the guy is wearing a helmet you have to aim lower.

Y así.

Fernando, deserves everything coming to him. Even his 19 year old daughter with hormones run a muck knows to use protection, he gives a woman he barely knows a credit card, (he hasn't even met her mother yet) and he leverages Ana's attachment to the children to keep her around and gets butthurt when she goes out. Hope Diego makes a play for Ana tonight right in front of him. Then I hope he does it again at breakfast and the kids encourage her to become aunt Ana since Fernando took a pass.

tofie, loved your
Fernando - nightmares arrive in the middle of the night

Ana - you can't fool him with a trench coat and high heels

Daisynjay...
... it was Luz who found her mother dead. Where was Fer? we never quite got that info. There might be an interesting story there ( ill wife, workaholic hubby who couldn't handle it so he was never home?) i have to say i have seen that kind of story develop in front of my eyes and its not pretty or fair/easy on the kids...

you all have a point... if Diego says Fer stole Fanny Sr from him, and Nico says Fanny Sr was Fer's first and only woman to date, then it seems Nando is a copy of who Fer was, letting a sibling bring in the house the one who would be his love... you are right, maybe that is why Fer was so supportive of Nando giving Ximena a second chance...

Welcome Isabella...!!

and yes, if Fernando keeps allowing Isa to have her way per the previews and later on, it will be his face in our patio dart board for sure...

tofie, ITA on your critique of Fernando's attitude..
I find Diego here absolutely irresistible... just the right mix of intuition, charm, humor and physical appearance, even if i would like to give him a hair cut and shave...
I want him to give Fernando the run for Ana he deserves since he passed on her.

first time i caught Pablo Montero was when he had the small role in Nunca Te Olvidare, and he has come a looooooong way since.

Thanks Marta, I thought from the title that Leon didn't like having sex with Fanny when you said sour aftertaste, but I watched and now get it. I wonder what it can be. I'm thinking that he either has someone, maybe his father, who he has to pay for his care or his debts, or a sister or past girlfriend with the same problem.

Thanks Jarifa for the lesson on Fuenteovejuna.

I didn't know that about raw seafood and pregnancy. Now I can see how this story will advance. A hidden miscarriage is just about right.

Tks for the great recap martaivett

I love novela parties & this one shouldn't disappoint.

S/b more interesting with Diego around, just please shave.

Thank you, Marta, that was fantastic! As always, you catch so much of the details that I miss while watching.

I am now up to speed with what has happened since I left for my vacation. That Isabruja doesn't waste any time, does she?
I am not as against Fernando as everyone else seems to be. He had a one night stand after a year of celibacy - that is not horrible. He didn't use proper protection - STUPID, but does he even know what that is? (hello, 7 kids and one on the way)

Anyway, the engagement is sure to be full of surprises. And it's my turn to recap, so don't mind me for the next couple of hours.

Thank you for the awesome recap!

I wasn't digging Diego's looks from what I had seen in the opening credits and the bits of screen time, but his personality totally won me over. He is the cool uncle that every kid wants to have. Lots of adventures and stories. He and Ana would make a really fun, crazy couple. But I guess that is why they are attracted to the opposite of themselves...they each need someone to balance them out.

Since this series is in production let's all let Televisa know that this is how we think Pablo should look.

I am so tired of the three-days-growth he's had lately.

I like the IMDB.com picture of Pablo better... tux and all.

either way... mariachi suit optional.

Marta thanks! You don't disappoint. This show is growing on me. It's the only one I am watching now. I think Leon has a connection to Isabi-------. The. Very first time she saw him at Fer's,a look passed between them. I could be wrong but there could be a secret relationship of some sort. I hope Ana and Diego hook up just to show Fer. Stupidity show have its own reward.

Hanna

Thanks, Marta! To read it is to relish the details of the action all over again. What fun.

I wasn't too sure before, but now I LOVE Diego! He is such a burst of energy and fun! I loved his telling of the shark story, starting with the underwater filming...glug..glug...glug... And then when he smooched Fer on the cheek as he left for his run, which annoyed Fer. Awesome. I love his lack of repression, as opposed to Fer. Holy tight running shorts, though. He could hardly pull them up to show the scar.

I was amused that Isabruja ordered sushi for the party. Does she even remember that she is pregnant when she is not rubbing Ana's face in it or twisting Fer's arm? I'm surprised careful (but not careful enough) Fer hasn't insisted on accompanying her to the obstetrician for an ultrasound or something. Is it still too early? I'm still hoping the test was a false positive.

So someone is texting the Lion King that they need him...and he didn't want to answer or tell her who it was, as they lay there post-fadoodling...and even after she left he was just pacing and worrying instead of responding. I don't think it would be about his father because he seemed sincere when he told Fanny that the only thing he knew of his father was his name. He might omit a lot of information, but I don't think he would directly lie.

Right now, it's hard to see why Ana shouldn't just fall in love with Diego and marry him and live happily ever after as the kids' auntie. Sure, it seems he has a bit of a womanizing history, but from his reaction over what happened with Estefania Sr., he apparently would be happy to settle down with the right woman. And I don't think he would be all judgy about Ana's pole dancing, either.

I wonder if they'll give him some major flaws to make us cheer for Fer, or this will be a show of choosing between the One True Love and another perfectly acceptable option.

Well, if Fernando wants to get back in my good graces enough to pull for him he better start but I'm afraid he may just dig his heels in. I didn't want to like Diego but I do. Think Ana deals with guys like him coming on to her and knows how to handle it and doesn't seem she is smitten but that could just be because she is in love with Fernando. Give it a little time for Diego to grow on her and Fernando to dig a deeper hole and she may catch the sweet eye.

Julia,
perfectly acceptable option?? i would say a MUCH BETTER option... except she would be the 'auntie' rather than the beloved Ana.
Lets see...
Fernando is about to get married, Diego is NOT.
Fernando hessitates on any move toward Ana... Diego lives in the moment.
Fernando would jump the wall when he learns about Ana's night job. Diego would probably join her on stage... (LOL!! we wish!, not that we would ALSO like to see Fernando up there)
Fernando takes life and work too seriously. Diego enjoys what he does for a living and lives first, works second.
I believe Nico knows Fernando needs an 'Ana' in his life, but would not mind seeing her with Diego instead...
However, that would be SOME loaded household if everyone stayed together... (esp when there come new babies)... Nico would love it but everyone else... not so much.

tofie,
"I didn't want to like Diego but I do." ditto!!

Diego and Ana could buy a house next door. More space and privacy, easy access to the kids.

I agree with you that Diego does seem like the BETTER option. And let's have that scene where Diego joins Ana on stage! And then Fer could be desperate to not be bested by his brother and join them as well.

Plus, to be a bit crass, Fer seems so repressed, he's probably rather boring for a roll in the hay. I'm sure Ana would have much more fun fadoodling with Diego.

Hello Isabella!! Yes, Silvia is doing her own dancing. Woman is talented times 3.

Julia, I think it would be so nice to have that hanging-until-the-end-who-does-she-pick story, but with the kids involved, I think it's probably a given that she winds up with Fer. just being an aunt wouldn't quite make the happy ending for the kiddies. But that said, I sure would love to see a little romance between Ana and Diego because those two were fogging up my TV screen last night.

Oh, and I loved that smooch from Diego to Fer when he left. Like watching my two boys...they actually get along wonderfully, but they'll pull that with each other in front of each other's friends and it's always hysterical to see the reactions.

Marta: Thanks for the great recap.

Jarifa: thanks for the Fuenteovejuna story. Loved it.

I also like Diego. I didn't think I would. I like how he is with Nico and Fer and, especially, the kids. However, he needs to make a commitment. Shave or grow a real beard!

Diana: thanks for the "All About Eve" shoutout. One of a tiny handful of movies I consider nearly perfect.

Julia: "I wonder if they'll give him some major flaws to make us cheer for Fer, or this will be a show of choosing between the One True Love and another perfectly acceptable option."--I think the latter is an interesting option, but I'm assuming that Ana and Fer will end up together and, in that case, I don't like to see Diego lose out again.

Nanette

Maybe Diego & Ana don't buy a house but travel a bit and Ana gets to see the world. With Fernando all she'll see is 4 walls.

fadoodling, Julia you killing me

The only flaw i see in Diego is that he looks like a giggolo that is waiting to find the right 'girl' to retire his match.com 30 second speech for good. And he might have found her in Ana... so lets see if he focuses on her or keeps all his other girls for fun.
Certainly Johnny would be no match for Diego... Johnny would lose his teeth if he tried to rough Ana up in front of Diego...

This tn is a lot of fun, and Pablo Montero seems to fit in perfectly as the spunk Diego.

Thank you, Marta, for the clear recap! You explained many things I missed.

Thank you, Jarifa, for the fuenteovejuna trivia. I will definitely use that word and information in the future.

Julia, I agree with you. I think Ana and Diego make a great couple. They could marry and be the fun aunt and uncle the kids and Nico visit when they need to get away from Fer, Isabruja, Isababy, and MIL bruja.

I really hope Leon has no prior connection to Isabruja. He seems like such a sweet boyfriend. If he and Isabruja are somehow in cahoots, and if he breaks Fanny's heart, Ana will certainly let him have it. Watch out, Leon!

Salvador, I agree with you. I liked Johnny last night. Although otherwise repulsive, his caring response to Jen humanized him.

And KUDOS to Fanny and Leon for using protection during their 'fadoodling!'

Johnny is no match for either of these guys, but for different reasons.

And no, I don't want the "Whom will she choose" thing because nobody has ever gotten that right. Venevision/Univision screwed that one up in Rebeca and Televisa screwed their audience with the finale of LQLVMR they way they played with our heads.

Ecuador and Salvador,
I agree about Johnny last night. his caring response to Jen humanized him.
Also agree on the KUDOS to Fanny and Leon for using protection during their 'fadoodling!'

UA, i always love your analyses...
can you expand on:
Johnny is no match for either of these guys, but for different reasons.?
Johny definitely lacks in stability and reliability... so against either Lasc he is a loser. But i want to hear the 'different reasons'.

I didn't notice a particular look between Leon and Isabruja when they first met. She always looks at him like he's something gross she stepped in. Remember how rude she was when he brought the documents to the restaurant for Fer to sign? Without further information, I would interpret any look he gave her as one of recognizing her from the office, but preferring to avoid her if possible.

Johnny has neither the happy fun generosity of Diego, nor the responsible groundedness of Fer. His claims of devotion to Ana ring hollow, since he cheated on her and is now flirting with Manuela practically at the same moment he's begging Ana to take him back. He's profoundly selfish. I don't see either of the Lascurain brothers as selfish or self-absorbed.

I think Diego is not a guy to waste time on a woman who has rejected him. He gave up on Estefania, but probably stayed away. He's also a lot better looking than Johnny.

So is Fernando, but he is honorable. Neither of the two would ever do anything to deliberately hurt or humiliate a woman. Johnny, however, doesn't even think about such things.

Thanks for this excellent recap, Marta. Well done.

I was a little disappointed that Fanny gave it up like she did. I would have preferred full disclosure on Leon's part... or maybe a few more candles, rose petals, and chocolate dipped strawberries (I guess she's a bit too young for Champagne). At least she didn't seem disappointed.

UA,

Your concern about sushi is interesting, but while I think that most obstetricians might advise avoiding any kind of raw meat if specifically asked, I can't see this as a likely cause for a miscarriage in a TN. I would consider it as more of a theoretical thing and know of no case reports of abortion caused by any raw foods. I would consider the mercury content of fish as more of a threat than parasites or bacteria, at least in properly handled fish or other seafood.

While Diego is certainly more fascinating than Fernando (who's not for that matter?), I'm not quite ready to endorse him.

I'm still concerned, what has become of Bruno's mom and what is the story behind their long separation?

Carlos

Are we sure Bruno's mother wasn't a mirage that we all imagined? She vanished como si nada.

I loved the necklace Fanny was wearing with the blue shirt and gray skirt. I wonder if it's available for purchase anywhere.

Carlos, I question Bruno's relationship with his mom, too. She didn't see him for 20 years; she believed he had a wife and SEVEN kids; she finally visited him; and she learned the "horrendous" truth: Bruno's a single majordomo. And then she leaves?!?! What's up with that?

And for the record, I'm diggin' Diego's scruffy look.

I don't care who sweeps Ana off her feet so long as it is not Johnny again. Diego is good as any but if they want to parade other guys in and one more suitable, fine. Fernando needs his comeuppance and Ana some lovin. With these constant shots of Fernando musing and quietly commenting to himself he may have made a mistake isn't enough for me to be sympathetic.

I think Leon got another girl out there or did and hasn't totally shaken her off.

I was thinking there might be an eventual hookup between Johnny and Jen, providing he changes his selfish/rough tendencies. I was also thinking there might be an eventual hookup between Diego and Jen, but that would be too weird, considering.

I agree that Diego has brought a new energy to the mix.

I think Leon has a child. Or maybe a wife that he hasn't divorced yet. Or both.

No Johnny for me for anybody after he got kinda rapey and grabby with Ana twice now. Get out, and wouldn't wish that on Jenny.

I don't think Leon has a wife; he's too young!

I am wondering whether Isabruja didn't have a baby she gave up once upon a time. Maybe he's it.

I agree. Johnny doesn't respect a woman's autonomy or personal space or demands to be left alone or not touched. He is a CREEP. He doesn't deserve anyone.

Do we know how old Leon is supposed to be? I had the idea maybe mid-twenties, since he's nearly done with school but I had the impression it was taking him longer than normal to finish because he's working to support himself and maybe not studying on a full-time student schedule.

tofie,
Fernando needs his comeuppance and Ana some lovin.
nicely summarized... ita!

I certainly don't think Johnny is good enough for anyone now. I'm just saying if they redeem him, then he might be a good match for Jen. He was very sweet with her so the potential is there.

We're only 27 eps into the TN, plenty of time for anything to happen. Including Isa and her mother wreaking havoc in the household---ugh! I can't see the TN stretching an engagement for 150 eps, so there's probably going to be a wedding. And then depression set in.

Anyone else think that the ring Fer got for Isabruja is not going to be good enough?

I hope it doesn't fit and that he economized with a faux diamond.

And that it is downright ugly. Ooh, maybe a cheap turquoise heart like Mr. Insufferable Smugness got for Alma in PEAM. Except even worse than a heart, because Fer doesn't heart Isa. Perhaps a turquoise...um, what is a symbol of tolerance? "I tolerate you." Or like a horseshoe or something..."good luck with this farce of a marriage".

Marta, thanks for a super recap.

I was surprised how delighted Ana was when Fanny told her of her
"heavenly hash" with Leon. After all she is the nanny. We know Leon is a nice guy and wouldn't take advantage of her, but what would Fanny's mom think of the get together. Somehow I don't believe Ana should have acted like her girlfriend, even though she inquired about protection.

Ann-NYC

Martaivett, what a fun recap. I loved the title and also the sub-titles to each scene. You were really inspired last night.

Glad to see Diego coming into the picture. I agree with Jarifa, he definitely brings new energy into this already fun TN. My favorite last night was his re-telling of his shark bite story, and how Ana was hanging on to every word and yelling even louder than the kids.

I'm also looking forward to the prank the kids are going to be playing on Isa. I wonder what they have up their sleeve? And will Uncle Diego and Grandpa Nico partake as willingly as Manuela wants to? Judging by the outfit she wants Ana to wear, I hope they really put her in her place!

OT, I'm having a bit of LQLVMR withdrawls, and am glad to see so many familiar people from that patio participating here too!

Maricruz

Well I hope Leon's secret isn't that he is Diego's long lost son, given up for adoption at birth. And please, no fake incest storylines puh-leeeez!

I'm still wondering, too, what the hey the whole Bruno/Mom storyline was about, Momma disappeared without a word...
J in Oregon

Ana isn't really Fan's nanny. Ana treats her like an adult and a friend. I think Ana balances her role as friend/mother-substitute with Fanny very well.

I agree, Nanette... you can't be a nanny to a 19 year old girl... you have to come through as her best friend, or as Fanny said to Leon, her confidant... that way she won't try to do stuff behind your back (behind her dad's back yes, but then you use your judgement to tell or not tell)...
As long as Fanny used her precautions, i think it is better that Fanny spend the time with someone like Leon than running away to who knows who... even Fernando has got to know Leon and he approves... so not much harm done as long as there are no heavy consequences.
