La Malquerida #42, 10/21/14: Hector Sees What Viewerville Sees; Dan Continues to Top His Own Evil

Mexican Episode #47

Just high level bullet points tonight. I have an early day tomorrow.

-Esteban continues his jealousy hissy fit and runs off to the swimming hole, where he imagines that he gives into his temptation and kisses Acacia. Fantasy Acacia pulls away and says this can’t be, because he is her mother’s husband.
-Meanwhile, real Acacia calls Cris to inform her that she’s coming back to the ranch to pack and then head to Ale’s birth town with German and Ulises, by way of San Jacinto. She greets Juan Carlos when she gets back and tells him they’ll be staying with Elena in San Jacinto and that she’ll send love from him to her grandma. They miss each other.
-German is a better father figure to Manuel and is more firm with him than Norberto is. He tells his little bro to suck it up. Acacia doesn’t love him. That’s no excuse to give up on his life and his therapy. He orders Manuel to come to San Jacinto with him to begin his therapy. Manuel refuses, pouts, and shouts about how they ALL betrayed him by hiding the truth about Acacia and Uli. Norbie gloats about Manuel not wanting to see German and lets German know he’s not welcome there. Later Norbie and Julie fight about:  1) Norbie supporting Manuel in not going to his therapy; and 2) Norbie not allowing German to visit them at the ranch. Norbie just thinks she wants to get away from having to sleep with him by going to San Jacinto. Juliana taunts him with denying him sex, and asks him if he’s going to force her. He responds by slapping her hard across the face and walking off.
-Juliana goes to Manuel crying and shows him the bruise. He wonders why they just don’t get a divorce already. Juliana tells him she doesn't want the scandal, she’s never worked, and she knows Norberto would be spiteful enough not to provide her with support payments. She wants Manuel to help convince Norberto to let German come back home, AND she wants him to agree to go to therapy so that she can escape Norberto and go to San Jacinto. He refuses because he’s still being a brat and thinks they all lied to him. But he knows someone who will tell him the truth…
-Arturo is updating Luisa on Carmen and Andres’ announcement about their non-marriage and kind-of living in sin (keeping both of their houses). He’s still trying to process it. Luisa teases him a bit about this. She doesn’t understand not wanting to spend as much time as possible with the person you love. Art leans in a bit more as she talks of love. They are unfortunately interrupted by jealous Rubio who makes up an excuse about some work he needs Luisa’s help with. Art departs with a kiss to Luisa’s cheek.
-The person Manuel believes will tell him the truth about Acacia and Uli is Luisa. What an inconsiderate jerk! Luckily, Rosa intercepts him before he finds Luisa. She informs him that he is banned from seeing Luisa, now that he’s over his “confusion.” She has Rubio escort him off the premises, if he doesn’t intend to visit Esteban or Cris. Manuel is not a happy camper.
-Cris and Hector talk. He wonders if there’s a deeper reason why she didn’t mention she’s married again. She denies it. She tells him the whole story of how Acacia didn’t accept Este all these years, but now has finally done so. She shows him the pics she took of Acacia and Este on the beach, and it’s clear Hector can see what Cris can’t—that the looks and smiles shared between Este and Acacia are those of lovers. He continues to look hard at the photos when he’s alone. Cris also explains the Ale situation, which means neither she nor German prepared their portfolios, plus German’s dad destroying most of his paintings. She takes him (by the hand) to see the Ale painting. He loves it, and raves at German’s technique, despite not receiving formal training. It’s clear Cris is affected by chatting with a man who shares the same passion and understanding for art.
-Acacia comes home and tries to give Este one of those full body hugs. He blocks it. She asks if he and Cris fought again. He tells her about Hector not knowing Cris was married. Acacia tells him the same story about her getting upset at the gallery when they spoke about her father. Then she lets slip that Hector was actually Cris’ suitor before Alonso, AND that he’s divorced. Este’s jealousy reaches new heights, and is ratcheted up even more when Cris and Hector emerge smiling and laughing from Ale’s bedroom!
-Acacia takes Hector to meet German, while Este continues to berate Cris for not telling him about her past with Hector. He asks if she hadn’t met Alonso, would she be married to Hector right now? Cris doesn’t know. She explains that Hector was a lot of fun, but she never took him seriously. Then she met Alonso, who gave her the stability she craved, and fell madly in love. After he died, she never thought she’d love again, but with Esteban she learned to work and find a new purpose and a passion she never had before. Este seems satisfied with this answer. Enough so that he backs down when she offers to give up her art exhibit, and he even invites Hector to stay the night at the hacienda! (More like he’s marking his territory.) Hector reluctantly agrees.
-Hector gives German his card and urges him to contact him when things get settled with his girlfriend. He offers to drive the youngsters to Ale’s town, but they are eager to get going since there are no main roads that go there. Esteban gets a bit bent out of shape when he hears Uli is going too. Hector observes the interaction between Este and Acacia.
-Juan Carlos is happy, but shocked to see Hector. He later tells Cris he doesn’t think it’s a good idea for him to be there since they were once novios, and he can tell Hector still has the hots for her. “Where there was once fire, ashes/embers remain.” She may be stuck between two loves before she knows it. Cris is sure of her feelings for Esteban and doesn’t see the danger.
-The Municipal President and all the important regional growers are gathered at Benavente for the meeting. Norberto arrives and Este scolds him for not sending his speech ahead. About that…Norbie has been SO busy working (now that he doesn’t have German’s slave labor), that he never got around to writing that important speech. Esteban is annoyed.
-OK. I have been saving this for the last, and can’t put it off anymore. I will keep it brief. Danilo gloats over a naked Ale that she belongs to him, and seems to have broken her spirit. He takes her, hands tied, to her home town and her mother’s squalid shack. The room is filthy and the floor is littered with empty alcohol bottles. Ale’s mother is in a half drunken stupor in bed. Dan eventually unties Ale, and she and her mother have it out. Long story short—Ale’s mom knew exactly what she was selling Ale to Dan for; she blames Ale for her still being so poor and Carlitos dying, because Ale was disobedient to Dan; she blames Ale’s dad for dying and leaving them with basically nothing. Ale tells her off for maligning her father who, unlike her, actually loved them. When he died he left them land, which her mother lost through her drinking. Ale's mother says that Dan treated Ale well. Ale points to her scar and wonders if THAT looks like she was treated well? Ale thinks she doesn’t deserve the title Mother, and deserves an even worse fate than evil Danilo! Dan has enough of this warm reunion, takes a plastic bag, and begins to smother Ale’s mom with it! Ale jumps on and claws at Dan to make him stop, but he pushes her hard onto the ground.

Here's a question for you guys; Who is worse? Doroteo from MCET or Danilo?

Corazon- They aren't even in the same league. Dan is his own brand of evil and cunning.

Vivi, this was bursting with emotion and heart. You continue to ferret out the smallest detail and relate and expand the events and the underlying causes and emotions to perfection such as "German is s a better father figure to Manuel and is more firm with him that Norberto is. He tells his little bro to suck it up". This was exceptional. I've noted my other favorites throughout my comment.

Watching this was like being on a wave of euphoria and then crashing to the depths of despair.

I will start with the worst - Danilo. My heart literally sank. "Danilo gloats over a naked Ale that she belongs to him and seems to have broken her spirit". One of the most gut wrenching scenes I've ever seen. As always, you picked just the right words to convey the horror and despair.

Our suspicions about Ale's mother were painfully on point. As Ale said, she is a monster. Was Danilo encouraging the heartbreaking conversation between Ale and her mother along to heighten the emotion so that he actually thought Ale would be happy he killed her mother? The entire scene was so terrible, I'm not even sure I want to contemplate the motive. If the writers have any mercy, Ale's captivity will be short lived. In the real world, I don't beleive she would ever recover from this.

Surprisingly, the best moments did not come from German or Arturo!! "It’s clear Cris is affected by chatting with a man who shares the same passion and understanding for art". Indeed! Was it my imagination or did Cris suddenly blossom? With Hector, she was animated, engaged, happy -her entire personality came alive. I am completely rooting for this couple.

Hector is perceptive as "Hector sees what viewerville sees". He sensed right away all is not well in Cris' world and also, that Cris is completely oblivious.

Hector is warm, friendly, sincere. There is nothing about this character I do not like. And I loved Juan Carlos’ “Where there was once fire, ashes remain.” Yes, the embers are still smoking. Let's fan the flames! ;)

I am really starting not to like Este. I'm furious he attacked Cris to try and mask his lustful yearnings for Acacia. His jealousy is mixed with equal parts guilt. As well it should.

I am not really sure what Rosa said to Manuel but it looks as though she put him in his place, and I was so glad. I only wish she would do it to Norberto and Juliana who richly deserve it.

Arturo's chaste kiss on Luisa's cheek was most welcome. I can't wait to see their romance unfold.

So dear German now has two benefactors - his father and Hector. It will be interesting to see what happens with Ale's painting. We know Danilo is obsessed with it. Will this be the lure to drag this maggot out of the woodwork?

Vivi, not high level bullet points, just high level. What a wonderful way to start the day. Gracias amiga.

Diana

Vivi..Thanks so much. I know that you are a busy person, and I appreciate you giving your time to do this recap. I have not watched my recording yet. Go, Hector. Boo, Este.

I am glad that Hector sees what Chris cannot. A sign on my way to school : " What one sees often depends on what one is looking for." Chris is a good person, so she is not aware of what is happening right in front of her.

Vivi---For someone with a busy schedule you sure put out a fine recap. As I was reading, it didn't appear as bullet points to me.

Ok now let me get this right. You get married and sometime later you see someone that in some ways you like better, so you dump #1 and hook up with #2. Is that the way it works? What happens if at sometime after you hook up with #2
you again see a new pick, then do you drop #2 and hook up with #3. How far does this go? I will add that Esteban is his own worst enemy but if things go the way that the writers seem to be leading us, Esteban will be out soon. Who will run the ranch then?

Ok the DanEvil part. I know that this is a movie, a novela but----
It's so easy to see. It takes a couple of minutes to suffocate someone and Alejandra's hands were untied. Grab something and hit DanEvil over the head maybe?
Seems like a smart move to me.

Vivi – Perfect title, fine recap. Much appreciated. I love what Diana said: “not high level bullet points, just high level.” Thanks so much.

My two favorite scenes: 1) Hector reviewing the photos and then giving Cris a “Girlfriend, you got problems and you don’t even know it” look. 2) Este blocking Acacia’s attempt at a full body hug.

Danilo is mad and off the rails. I think the scum believes he’s settling scores for Ale, first killing the prostitute that betrayed her and now her mother. Maybe Ale can punch holes in the bag to save her mother, as awful as she is. I am hoping Ale realizes she has nothing left to lose so she might as well fight back even if it kills her.

Acacia annoys again. Este and Cris were chatting and she barges in asking if they’ve made up. I yelled at the screen, “Girl, get out of your momma’s business and leave them alone.” Whether they fight or not, she should just butt out of it.

Maybe Chris has to tell Ack what I told our daughters if they tried to get in the middle of a discussion between hub and me. " You are part of this family, not a part of this marriage."

I am so glad that German has two strong, positive supporters..his bio dad and Hector who can help him with his career as an artist. He will be better off without Norb in his life.

gringo, "How far does this go?"

Good question. I believe that once you cheat, it's not that difficult to quickly evolve into a serial cheater and to flit from person to person. In time, the lies get perfected, the rationale seems simple and without fault "I want what I want no matter the cost".

And, I hope Este does leave - he doesn't deserve Cris.

Cris will run the ranch. She could have all along - she had the power but never realized it. Hopefully, she does now.

Diana

Hello everyone!

Yes, Cris knows how to run the ranch now. It was just at the beginning after Alonso died that she didn't know how. But she's an expert these days. She doesn't need Este. She just loves him, but if he keeps acting a fool, her love might just start to fade. And I'm not shocked that there would be plenty of men out there, like Hector, who would be waiting to snap her up.

So just keep acting a fool, Esteban. You might end up having a hot fling with hot young thang Acacia, but you would be losing out on a real quality woman.

"Hector reviewing the photos and then giving Cris a “Girlfriend, you got problems and you don’t even know it” look."

Niecie- Yes! That is exactly what that look was. LOL!

I think Dan is just killing off witnesses that can confirm Ale's story that he bought and sexually exploited her when she was a minor. He's just pointing out that they also betrayed Ale as part of his twisted mind games. He already asked Perla in a threatening way if she even thought about helping Ale as a witness when he found out about the lawyer, and I'm sure he'll emphasize loyalty to her again at some point soon. This is all about covering his butt.

Vivi, yikes, you're right that Danilo is killing of witnesses! He's mad-evil but he's not stupid.

Unlike most novelas, I have no idea where this one is going. I guess the ranch and everything belongs To Chris , so Este would end up with nothing if he strays. ..I hope.

I think that Damn is destined to die , so witnesses to his crimes will not matter. I have a hunch that the big, sober drug guy might be Damn's anvil..or Perla.

How are German and the fine young men going to find Ale ?

I hope the heroes show up at Ale's mother's place as Damn is in the middle of suffocating her mom.

Thank you for the recap!

I'll probably be saying this a lot, but Dan and Norbie disgust me. The way that they treat women is just horrible. And Dan is a murderer. He has no limits.

It amazes me at how Hector was able to see the extreme closeness of Esteban and Acacia right off the bat from a picture while Cristina remains blind. I hope that he can open her eyes or better yet that she can figure it out on her own soon.

Ale's mother turned out to be just like Dan. I can't believe she was still waiting for Dan to make her rich. Ale was his slave for years and I can almost bet he never even gave her mother anything during all those years. Or if he did, he obviously didn't care that she was using it for alcohol. It's too bad Dan killed Ale's mom, but she was pretty useless.

What one sees depends on what one is looking for.

TF- When you're closer to the situation it's harder to see. There is no reason for Cris to suspect something so horrible as her husband and her daughter being tempted to have an affair with each other. If she were suspicious of something like that, with as little as she's seen, I would wonder what kind of jealous/dirty mind she has. But one day she will see a lingering look or touch that can't be explained as fatherly-daughterly.

Vivi- I see what you're saying. And yes, it makes sense for her not to realize there's an attraction between Esteban and Acacia. Its true that has not gotten to the extreme yet. Obviously she doesn't know of Esteban's fantasies.

Hi Diane, do you mind reminding me who you refer to tegarding ur comment "once you cheat..." Who in Novella were you speakng about. Thank you
