♥ Mi Corazón es Tuyo ♥ #129 Lunes 1/19/15: Holiday Madness

Let's get to the important stuff:

Margarita's Apartment: Fanny caught Laura with León and was more annoyed than she tried to show. She gave Mauricio and Margarita their gifts and tried to make a fast but graceful exit. Laura followed her out saying she had to talk to her. Reina and Margarita saw this would not end well and both looked at León, who had to know what was on their minds.

Laura followed Fanny to the gate, saying that what she saw was an accident. Fanny held her breath for a second and finally said she didn't want any trouble with her on Christmas Eve. Laura, however, provoked her deliberately by saying that someone had to console León
and Fanny slapped her hard. She should not have apologized to God right away, though, as Laura could only see this as further evidence of weakness.
When Fanny walked away Laura gloated, saying “You are an idiot, Fanny. León will be mine.”

No, he won't!” said Aphrodite. “Whether he ends up with Fanny or not he deserves better than you!”

Lascuráin Mansion: The rest of the family was gathered for Christmas Eve dinner; there were also guests. Ángel showed Magda's note to Soledad who did not believe it sincere. Fanny returned, asking for Ana. Fernando asked for a kiss and told her that Ana was upstairs. Fanny went upstairs without another word.

Ana was helping the younger girls get ready. She herself wore the silver dress from the reunion party and her hair was elegantly arranged. Alicia confided that Pablo had declared his love for her; Ana hugged her in excitement for her. Fanny then entered and told her that Laura was at León's place, which it did not please her to admit. Ana hugged her.

Downstairs the table was laid out with red and white tablecloths, china, crystal, and decoration as Ana presented Fernando with a gift, a white dinner jacket. He held it up and made a joke about being a waiter. He told her he loved her, but she didn't let him kiss her in front of the children. He put the box aside to get her gift, which was a much smaller box, but even Luz guessed what could be in that smaller box. Ana was about to open it, but Fernando stopped her, saying he wanted her to open it in the morning.
She agreed and they hugged, as did others in the room. Siete barked for attention.

Bruja Central: Yolanda had given Ramona the day off and missed her. Zerobela sneered at this in her usual way. She also objected to Yolanda watching television “Because you know I hate Christmas.”
She got a bottle of booze out of the sideboard and Yolanda asked she also pour her a drink. She came back with the bottle and two old-fashioned glasses. Hissabela also told Yolanda that she overheard Enrique talking to his empty room as though his father were there. “He is now completely insane,” she said.

Hospital Room: The nurse entered wishing Enrique a good noche buena. She had a gift and a piece of chocolate cake. He smiled, thanked her, and accepted both items.
The gift turned out to be a camel-hair scarf. The nurse kissed him, then walked out with the music. He heard his father say “Merry Christmas” which he answered before hugging thin air.

He could be faking,” said Hermes. “Mortals have done such things before.”

You could be right. He might be thinking that the nurse is listening from the other side of the door,” said Apollo. “I didn't know they taught that stuff at Harvard.”

Bruja Central: Zerobela put out her glass to toast “Merry Christmas” with Yolanda, then ranted about how pathetic it was for the two of them to be sitting in an apartment watching television on Christmas Eve. Yolanda didn't like this complaint, asking what was wrong with it. This provoked more of Zerobela's usual snobbish criticism of her mother, which Yolanda decided to dismiss for the moment.

It's not our holiday, but if I were one of their gods I'd be offended.”

I know, Hera, but their god preaches only good will. It's really too bad that some mortals are allowed to be so shallow and nasty.” Athena poured herself some nectar. “It makes no sense to me.”

Lascuráin Mansion: The food was now being served, including what looked like a roast turkey. The children got upset at the sight of this, saying “It's Nueve!” Bruno and Manuela denied killing the turkey, saying that this one was purchased in the supermarket. They said that Nueve was happily living on a farm.

Fernando stood up thanking everyone for being there and Manuela for preparing all the delicious food. Then for the birth of Jesus, for their being together, etc. Ana joined him and they held hands as she gave thanks for getting her mother back, etc.
As soon as Fernando concluded with the “Feliz Navidad” and was about to sit down, Nicolás arrived, checking his watch.

Johnny and Jen's smiles suddenly disappeared and Jen exchanged looks with Ana. Nick explained his flight was delayed by a storm as the children all got up to hug him. Jenny discreetly wiped away a tear.

Margarita's Apartment: León mentioned that this was Mauricio's first Christmas without his mother and he was crying. León himself had spent the previous Christmas crying because Tamara had run off with the boy and Margarita was the only person who could put up with him.
Laura (who had no business being there) talked about Christmas being a sad time for watching other people buying gifts, expensive ones.
León said that wasn't important; family was important. Laura went on about not caring for her family because they were mediocre losers. León didn't look like he enjoyed hearing her say that. He asked what Fanny had said to her and she said Fanny told her that she had come to give gifts to Mauricio and Margarita and that she was happy to see them together because she didn't feel the same about him.
She had sat on the arm of his chair and kissed his hair. He looked as though the seeds of discontent were being sown.

Lascuráin Mansion: Jenny got on Nick's case over the cowardly way Nick ended their marriage, telling him she didn't want his money or anything. She then told Johnny they were leaving. Fortunately, he had enough class to say nothing and just follow her out.

Upstairs, Fanny was holding baby Diego while telling Ana about what happened at León's place. She had restrained herself in front of Margarita and for Mauricio's sake, but gave Laura a serious bitchslap when they were outside. Laura's poaching on Ximena's territory was mentioned. Fanny said she was confused about everything. They decided that Laura was on the order of a black widow spider.

At 3AM the twins came out of their room dressed in green elf costumes. Like clockwork, Luz came out of her room in a pink elf costume. She determined that the coast was clear, one of the boys announced that the webcam on their remote-controlled car was ready, and they headed downstairs to await Santa's arrival. They were followed by Siete, who was wearing reindeer antlers. Ana and Fernando were around the corner, smiling at the thought of Christmas morning with the kids.

The three little elves and Rudolf went downstairs where the boys put the car on the sofa with the camera facing the plate of cookies and the note for Santa.

The sound of something landing on the roof caught their attention and they realized that Santa must have arrived. They then hid behind the other sofa as Santa dropped the sack down the chimney and climbed down the side of the house to enter through the window, saying “Ho, ho, ho!”
He admired the portrait of Estefania and smiled when he saw the plate of cookies. He read the note as the images went from the webcam to the twins' tablet computer. He commented on how smart the kids were and how nice of them to leave the cookies. He ate one, saying it was delicious.

He noticed the red car and commented on how technology is more advanced every time before putting the red sack on the sofa to cover it. The tablet screen went dark, but the kids stayed in place. Santa took numerous gifts out of the sack and placed them under the tree, finally chuckling and wishing the kids Merry Christmas.

He told them he knew they were good, studious children, and that their mother sent them many kisses from Heaven. As he chuckled for the last time the boys yawned and the three fell asleep against each other like a set of adorable kittens.

Zeus, are you up to something else?” said Hera. “Honestly, impersonating a mortal is one thing but another being like ourselves?”

Oh, no,” said Athena. “She's starting up on that again.”

She's got good reason, sis,” said Apollo. “You know how Dad is. But I think this is harmless.”

A little cross-cultural experience never hurts, I guess.”

Not long after dawn Luz woke up first. She woke her brothers and they noticed that the cookie platter and glass were empty. They then picked up the red car and Siete to go upstairs before their dad caught them.

Ana & Jennifer's House: Johnny was sleeping on the couch when Jennifer got up. She got plates and a basket of pan dulce from the kitchen while Johnny sat at the table and looked at the divorce papers. One more time she said she didn't want Nick's dinero. Johnny said she could use the money to help others, like the place Fanny volunteers at.
She liked that idea. They kissed and we get the new theme song.

Lascuráin Mansion: Nick recalled his first meeting with Jennifer and the happy times after. He cried as he told himself he had to be strong. It was better for Jenny, etc.

Aphrodite, I think you need to get your son to resolve this one,” said Artemis. “Nick is being more foolish than most other men.”

Tell me about it. This relationship is a mess, but I don't know yet whether we shouldn't just find a new lady for Nick.”

The three little elves were about to enter the playroom when Ana and Fernando caught them. Fernando questioned their garb and they confessed they waited up for Santa Claus. Ana got excited, asking “Did you see him?” Fernando seemed a little irritated with this, but the kids said Santa was good peeps, even telling them their mother sent kisses.
They claimed to get a photo and Siete barked his agreement. Ana was eager to see the photos. Fernando told the kids it wasn't likely the photo came out. They loaded the photo card into Ana's laptop and opened the file. The only photo was of the sack about to cover the camera.

The boys expressed their disappointment. Fernando explained that you can't photograph Santa because he is Magic. The kids huddled together and whined. “We had it planned so perfectly!” Fernando tried to explain, Ana said “See what you've done?” and the kids ignored them for the moment.

Ángel's Apartment: He came out of the shower in only a towel and looked at the note from Magda, which he held close to his heart.

Lascuráin Mansion: Ana took the baby bottle out of the microwave as Fanny came down for coffee. She hadn't slept the night before thinking about Laura being too close to León on Noche Buena. That close. She sat down and noticed the small Christmas gift Fernando had given to Ana, which sat unopened. Ana was waiting to open it in front of Fernando.

Ana & Jennifer's Place: Johnny opened Jennifer's gift to him and admired the watch, declaring she was the perfect woman. He handed her a flat item that turned out to be a partnership agreement in his new business. Maybe he's growing up.

Lascuráin Mansion: Fanny took over holding baby Diego, leaving Ana alone in the kitchen with the gift. Fernando came in and she opened the gift to find another box.

It was the handkerchief from his pocket on the day they met. He had it embroidered with their initials and a red rose made to mark the spot that had once touched his bloody nose.
He got her to accompany him outside past a walkway covered in poinsettas to a table with a crystal box. He wanted to be sure the children were inside before she opened it. They kissed, not realizing that the younger kids were coming down the stairs to the parlour inside.
The twins had their tablet with them, explaining to Fanny they got a photo of Santa's red sack.  The twins were disappointed that that was all they had and still couldn't prove they saw Santa, but looked as though they could get over this.
Of course, the crystal box contained the engagement ring, which we didn't see. Ana could not contain her excitement although she didn't scream this time.
However, at least one of them heard the door open and they both ducked behind the end bank of poinsettas before Sebastián emerged from the house. Fernando wanted to know why Ana insisted they hide from the kids. Of course, it was all about confusing them (replay previous conversations about this in your minds). She was sure of her feelings and wanted to make sure he was as well. He told her he didn't doubt how he felt about her. She looked between the pots of flowers to see Sebas sitting on the steps. Ana and Fernando kissed without allowing him to see them.

Mortals can be so confusing,” said Aphrodite.

Indeed,” said Athena. “All this to do about love. I just don't get it.”

Too bad, because Odysseus could have been your gran passion.”

But he was already married, remember?”

True. But now that Fernando is free to marry Ana I have the feeling they will need our help more than ever.”

Urban, outstanding recap with womderful Olympian commentary Very enjoyable. Thanks!

I liked:

Fanny slapping Laura.

The whole Santa adventure especially with him telling the little kids that their mother sent them loads of kisses from heaven.

Nico reappearing and Jemnifer telling him off. He sure is confused. Will he try to get back with her?

Ana drawing comparisons between Leon's actions with Laura and Fanny's actions with Lenin . Too bad Fanny is not quite willimg to see the similarity yet.

I did not like:

Fernando giving Ana the ring and ahe being so happy and relaxed with the whole situation when she has not told him the truth yet. Too early for celebrations.

Jarifa

I don't like that we didn't get to see the ring!

Thank you, Urban. Wonderful screenshots and excellent divine comments. I loved the last line of dialogue -- they sure are going to need some heavenly help now.

I loved the kids trying to get a photo of Santa. A cute episode.

I thought that Manuela looked especially pretty at the dinner.

And, how interesting, that Laura would describe her family as mediocre just as Isabela was accusing her mother of the same mediocrity. Leon needs to run fast and run far to get away from Laura!

Urban, I hope we see it soon, too.

Truly wonderful recap, I am constantly impressed at all the work you put into it, UA. Was anyone else bothered by the fact that the brujas gave their help the night off but the Lascurain's did not? That scene with the turkey was funny but I thought I heard "granja" as in Nueve was sent to a farm, instead of "naranja" (Orange) but I could be wrong. I don't understand why we're supposed to care about Angel and his annoying ex. Thank you for the recap, I enjoy them very much!

What exactly is the point of Nico coming back? Take him back, Uni, don't you know he's dead to me?

Thanks, Urban and Olympians, for your brilliant recap!

Mati - I agree with you. The Santa scene was cute.

Lili - Good point. The brujas gave Ramona the night off. Why didn't the Lascurains allow their help to take the holiday off?

Personally, since everyone in esta familia lies, I will feel A LOT better about Nueve once I see him with my own ojos.

Lili - You make an excellent point about not caring for Angel and his ex., which nails the major problem with this tn on the head. Since I have started watching MCET, two tns have started and will finish soon. Although I haven't watched them, the producers must have detailed events in the lives of a relatively small group of people, allowing the audience to identify with the characters. This producer has introduced so many characters in MCET, and extended it so far beyond its interesting-plot limit, we in Viewerville cannot identify with and care about any of them.

I may have misunderstood what Manuela said about Nueve despite having watched this episode twice, which is what I have to do to provide the screencaps for it.

Angel's ex is probably meant to be the anti-Ana. Ana has less formal education than Magda, but loves children and wants some of her own. It would be a career-ender for her at Chicago, but she knows that and is OK with it. Ana is ready for new challenges.

Magda wouldn't have children because of the fear of Down's Syndrome and (more importantly) what that would do to her career. She is more afraid of the latter because Down's Syndrome is something that can be tested for and is therefore avoidable. Whether the pregnancy she aborted was the result of a positive test for this we don't know yet. Years ago one had to wait until the end of the first trimester to know but I don't know if that is still true (Carlos, where are you?).

Yes, Manuela said that was NOT Nueve on the table, that she got that turkey in the market and sent Nueve to live safely in a farm.

UA, amazing recap and comments from Mt Olympus as usual... will have to re-read later on when i have finished with a big meeting at work.

Loved that Ana confronted Fanny of being so upset at Leon when she has been playing the same games/mixed messages with Lenin herself.

Loved that Fernando gave Ana the handkerchief she cleaned his blood with when they met and he had ordered the stitching of a poinsetta (nochebuena/pascua) flower and their initials on it. Not sure what it means for him to give her a ring but it is not a formal proposal, although their swearing that they are sure of what they feel was sweet. Getting really tired of Ana pushing the brakes on him with the excuse of confusing the kids... MOVE ON!!

forgot to say that on friday my fav moment was when the little kids were doing a 'all for one and one for all sign with the hands and Siete came happily hopping three times to get close and put his paws in there too...

That Three (Four?) Musketeers thing was adorable. I love how novela dogs interact with their human co-stars. I also love how Luz went from being the twins' cheerleader to being their accomplice.

Now, where is the parrot I decreed these kids should have? ;)

This episode also makes me wonder what Mexican parents teach their children about Santa. Do most of them encourage belief until a certain age, like parents do in the US?

As to the ring, I think that Fernando and Ana are past the age where an elaborate formal proposal is appropriate despite his ability to afford any way to dress it up. A private moment (of which they don't get many) with a bottle of wine and candlelight would be appropriate for them.

As to Ana's putting on the brakes, the children's "confusion" is a pretense. She knows these kids as well as he does. She knows they want this. She is afraid of telling Fernando about Chicago.

Actually, with that place being closed for two weeks around Christmas now is actually a good time to tell him. It would give him time to react and think of next steps to getting her free of Dorofeo's indenture.

I agree with you UA, it is Ana's
pretense for not telling him...
but i agree the kids want them together as much as or even more than they themselves do... what i meant with the 'MOVE ON!!' was 'OUT WITH IT AND MOVE ON!!!'
agreed that this is the perfect time to tell him, like between xmas and new year so they have a plan already by the time the Chicago opens again or even take action to control Dorofeo before that.

In Puerto Rico we don't tell the kids about Santa truth until we can't hide it anymore... my daughter found out when she was about 10 when i had left the giftwrap rolls in the van and they rolled for her to see a few days later... she has always been a bit miffed about knowing early... the other girls knew after they were 12. the 17 year old finally acknowledged it this xmas... although we are all kids at heart at home and we just 'believe'.

many families in Puerto Rico celebrate the 3 wise men night even more than xmas Santa coming. I do remember singing the posadas when i was a kid... but lately it is not so commonly seen/practiced.

Thank you !!!!

I think Enrique will spill the beans about many things: Isa, baby's father; Nico, attempted murder, stalking Fanny, etc. but nobody will believe him (because he's hallucinating) which will enable him to do more dastardly deeds.

And isn't that nurse of his the same one that was at the cancer ward for kids where Bruno entertained them? She gets around in her sexy uniform. Will she cover for him at some point .. a gift for him? ... a little weird.

Love the work UA and your commentary always relevant.

Not bothered by the introduction of Angel and Magda. I recall just a flash of Edith early and later her story so think we'll get to it.

Don't think Nic should be rewarded with another love interest nor reunited with Jenny. This could be resolved if he would die before the divorce is final. Jenny would get the house and cash without guilt and Nic would, well, be dead.

Not letting us see what's in the box, hmmmm. Seemed Ana assumed it was an engagement ring, and already stalling for time.

Don't like Leon much but Laura, ugh.

Fanny unwilling or unable to see what she has been doing with Lenin is not an equivalent, but trying hard by saying it was Christmas Eve.

Thought Luz and the twins and Santa cute.

Hope that farm's a farm sanctuary.

Bruno and Manuela are bad liars so I don't think they lied to the kids about this. They would have trouble looking those kids in the eye.

If this were Carloca from ENDA, though, we would know what Nueve's fate would have been at the outset.

This was exceptional UA!! I loved the commentary from our resident gods and goddesses, they always bring such humor to the recap.

I have a soft spot for all things Santa. I very much did the whole cookies thing, footsteps in the snow, one year even enlisting someone to help make the noises on the roof of the house. So seeing the fearsome threesome scoping out Santa was adorable to me and a nice touch by the writers.

Leon really needs to ditch that sourpuss face. Yish...right now it's hard to root for any of these young people. They need to all uncouple, get back to school and work and regroup. Argh!

I agree on the "who cares" on Angel's love life, but the late Christmas gift of the towel-clad galan was appreciated.

Nico needs to just whatever. Be a grandpa then and leave Jen alone. I don't like her with Johny, but Nico was a coward in how he treated her and he doesn't deserve her either. Not sure about that "gift" though from Johny--Merry Christmas, you just were gifted half of an unopened business. My debt and expenses are now your debt and expenses.Love and kisses.

Ok Ana-- you're engaged now and STILL haven't fessed up? So not good. (and if so, please ditch the uniform!)

Wonder who played Santa? I missed the episode so I didn't get to see. I hate that they are really pushing Johnny on Jennifer.

I've been trying to figure that out. The voice sounded familiar, but it's not the voice of any of the actors in the series. Does anyone have a large TV on which to better see a close-up?

I saw a close up and couldn't recognize them but they had on glasses so the most you could see is the nose.

I normally don't watch the opening song-and-dance number any more, but I did last night. Apparently, Jen and Nico don't reunite and hug in the maze now. Does that mean Jen and Johnny are endgame now?

Well, if the writers go with their constant your second chance at love is the real thing, then yes, since Johny is Jen's second effort at true love.

And with that, she hits her head repeatedly on her office desk.

Daisynjay

Makes me wonder again who it was. It would have been nice for it to have been someone with a recognizable voice. Like Cesar Evora.

Someone from Osario's previous TN's?

It was NOT Cesar Evora... but he did have a heavy deep voice... almost could say it was an older man for sure. Maybe the same guy who dies voice over on the previews? but not regularly on front of camera?

OT

Loved how handsome Cesar Evora was in CS '93 and he played a really great guy. Look forward to watching more of his earlier telenovelas where he plays a good guy.

I know it wasn't Cesar. I just think that it would have made a cute cameo for him since he plays so many villains most of the time.

I fell in love with him in CS93. Wish he had more chances to play the good guys for a while. Now that he's 55 those days are mostly over.

yeah that was an awesome character for CE back then... the guy had so many resentment issues toward the good guys but once he began to make his own investigations and make his own conclusions he was definitely one of the good guys.

in prev comment meant to say same guy who DOES voice over...
