Lo Imperdonable #5 Fri 5/22/15 We All Love Our Freedom; We All Choose Our Destiny; And We Need To Watch Out For Strangers

Let’s skip the scenes from yesterday and get right to the new stuff….

Jardin De Prado Castelo
Virginia tells Emi that Vero has done “terrible things” and Emi wants to know what the heck she’s talking about and he wants to know NOW.

Pueblo Nuevo
Pierre walks around town and looks back every once in a while to make sure he won’t be seen by anyone. He stops in front of a window.

Jardin De Cresencio
Ana Perla sits on her bed in her room and is reading a book which she quickly hides when Abuelo Cresencio comes into her room and gets on her case for being lazy and not doing anything productive. Ana Perla explains that she can’t do much being locked her room. Abuelo hands Ana Perla her embroidery and suggests she embroider. Ana Perla will do as Abuelo says.

Jardin De Prado Castelo
Emi has Virignia by the arm and Virginia in tears [crocodile tears, perhaps?] tells him to let her go. She tells him there’s no point in talking about Veronica if he’s going to act like such a nutcase [oh you haven’t seen anything yet, Virginia. Viewerville know just how crazy Sergio Sendel can be]. Emi knows that what Virginia has to say is to make Vero look bad in his eyes. He tells her that if she has something serious to say then to tell him NOW. Virginia cries and asks him how he could treat her this way during a party. He apologizes and tells her that he makes her mad when she acts this way. Virginia tells him that she doesn’t understand why she tells him things about Veronica if when she does they end up arguing. Emi wants her to promise him that she’ll try to get along with Veronica. Virginia reluctantly promises that she will. She tells him that what she wants the least is to argue with him. She tells him that they’ll enjoy the party and be okay. She goes off to greet Mariana who has arrived.

Mariana and Pablo have arrived to the party holding hands and Virginia greets them. Meanwhile, Martin stares and looks attentively at Virginia. Jorge shows up and tells Martin that he can see that Martin is impressed with his niece Virginia. Martin tells Jorge that he has two beautiful nieces. Jorge tells Martin that he loves his nieces and takes care of them. He’s like a father to them and he keeps an eye on who they mingle with. Martin understands and tells Jorge that he’ll get to know him. Jorge is glad Martin says that because he doesn’t usually let people he doesn’t know well into his home. Martin tells Jorge he’s like him and also likes to know who comes into his home and his construction company. Martin tells Jorge that his construction company isn’t a big one but it’s been successful because they offer ecological solutions now that they are needed more. Jorge is left interested and wants to know more about Martin’s construction company.

Salma asks Vero if Emi really didn’t tell her that he had another guest. Vero explains that Martin arrived unexpected. Vero tells Salma that she already found a place for Martin and wrote his name on placecard. Salma bitches because Vero hand wrote the name instead of doing it on the computer. Emi shows up and defends Vero. He tells his mother to understand that Vero isn’t part of the hired help. He wants Vero to enjoy the party with him. Emi and Vero leave to open the dance floor.

Casa De Cresencio
Abuelo Cresencio tells Ana Perla to learn to respect and obey her older brother. “Well, he doesn’t have to be such a brute, look at my arm, he hurt me…” Ana Perla tells her Abuelo. Abuelo says he’ll talk to Manuel about that. Abuelo tells Ana Perla that it hasn’t been easy raising them alone all these years. He wants her to understand that if he is too strict it’s because he wants to take care of her. Abuelo tells her that it’s easier with Manuel because he’s a man like him but with her…. Well, he doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her and he’d rather overprotect her now than later regret that he didn’t take care of her. Abuelo tells her that he’ll have Tomasina put something on her arm and he leaves the room. Ana Perla asks La Virgencita why her parents aren’t with her and why her Abuelo has to be the way he is with her. [Because he’s an old grouch….]

Jardin De Prado Castelo
Jorge tells Martin that aside from the jewelry business he has other businesses and is also into horse breeding because he likes it. Martin tells Jorge that he loves horses and was interested in purchasing one from him. Hopefully, it could be one like Sanson. Jorge tells Martin that you need to be an expert in horse riding if you want a horse with so much brio (energy). Salma interrupts them and tells Jorge that Emi and Veronica have opened up the dance floor and now they have to dance. Jorge gets up and excuses himself to go and dance. Martin asks Jorge if he could dance with Virginia and Jorge gives him the ok.

Virginia joins Mariana at her table. Mariana mentions how lucky Veronica is because she saw the handsome man who helped her at the club at the party. Virginia thinks Vero was exaggerating since she’s soooo gooooood at everything. “My uncle would say she’s a dechado (paragon) of virtues….” says Virginia. Martin overhears and thinks this is interesting. He asks Virginia if she works at her uncle’s company. Virginia tells him she doesn’t. “You’ll get to know us more, Vero and I are different, Vero is always the center of attention and when she wants something she gets it, and well me because of my disease…” Virginia tells Martin. [If she mentions her disease one more time so help me…] Mariana interrupts and tells Martin that her friend has a heart problem and needs to take care of herself. “Yeah, that’s why I’m more calmer, I can’t ride horses and do extreme sports like Vero..” Virginia explains. Martin says he’s sorry to hear that but he hopes this doesn’t mean she can’t dance. “Of course not, as long as it’s not break dance…” Virginia says. Martin and Virginia leave to go and dance. Mariana wants to dance as well with Pablo [who looks like he’d be better off watching paint dry than at the party]. Pablo asks her if you actually dance to this kind of music (slow music) because it seems like they’re at a funeral…. [LOL]

Martin and Virginia join Emi and Vero and the other couples on the dance floor. Martin and Vero exchange glances. Pablo and Mariana join the dance floor as well. Pablo hopes they’ll put on a Jamaican Reggae because he just isn’t good at slow dancing. Mariana jokingly calls him a bobito (dummy) and tells him that he’ll have to get used to things being different in their social circle. She tells him to just enjoy and go with the flow. She kisses him.

Pueblo Nuevo
Pierre is outside Ana Perla’s window and throws a stone against it to get her attention. Ana Perla opens the window and apologizes to him for what happened with the book. Pierre says that if Abuelo finds out that he’s the one who gives Blanquita and her the books then he’ll stop talking to him and she knows how hard it was for her Abuelo to accept him since he was a foreigner. Ana Perla is sorry about what happened - her brother even burned the book. Pierre tells her not to worry about the book. They lost it in the battle but he has a library full of them and he’ll see how he can get her one. She’d loved to get a new book but she doesn’t want to risk it. She tells him that she finished reading “The Three Musketeers”. She loved it and loved what D’artagna did for love. He tells her that there is a second part to the book called “Veinte Años Despues” and he’ll get the book the her. [After that she can start on the Fifty Shades Trilogy...Abuelo would have a heart attack if he found her reading that.]

Jardin De Prado Castelo
Martin and Virginia slow dance. Martin tells Virginia that her uncle Jorge interrogated him about his business. He tells her that her uncle is interested in who gets near his nieces. She asks him if he can be trusted. He tells her that he’s a man who loves justice. Virginia tells him that Emi is the same way. She asks him what he does for a living and he tells her that he gave all those answers to her uncle and he thinks her uncle wasn’t left satisfied. Martin tells Virginia that you can see that Jorge is interested in knowing what one has. Martin asks Virginia if she’s the same. She replies that she isn’t. She thinks feelings are more important than money. “Don’t you think so?” she asks him. The music stops and they all applaud. Virginia announces a dance partner switch. Martin slow dances with Vero while Virginia slow dances with Emi. Martin apologizes and tells Vero he was never a good dancer. Vero tells him he just needs practice. Martin says he needs a lot of practice. He says he never liked partying and worked instead. Vero tells him that she can teach him to dance. The two leave the dance floor to go and talk. They go over to a table and order some drinks.

Pueblo Nuevo
Padre Juan visits Cresencio to talk to him about how Manuel mistreats the miners at the mine. Cresencio thinks the miners are just bitter and aren’t used to hard work. Cresencio has always been fair with his miners but ever since Manuel convinced him to be put in charge of the mine...well things have changed and not in a good way. Cresencio is sure Manuel is doing a good job being in charge of the mine and believes the miners are taking advantage of Manuel for being so young. Padre wanted to let Cresencio know so he would be careful with that. Padre also wanted Cresencio to be careful with Ana Perla. Well, that’s who Cresencio takes care of the most. Padre tells Cresencio that Manuel is aggressive with Ana Perla and has a violent temper. Padre tells Cresencio how Manuel manhandled Ana Perla and was rude to Magdalena. Cresencio accepts that perhaps Manuel exaggerates a bit, but he does it to control his sister and he’d rather it be that way than to have something happen to Ana Perla that she’ll regret later. Cresencio will never forget what happened to his sister who ruined her life and the life of her family because of a bad foreigner.

Jardin De Prado Castelo
Emi and Virginia continue to slow dance. Meanwhile, Vero and Martin chat. Martin has told Vero that his construction company is a company with social responsibility. Martin believes that you should give in the measure that you receive. So he sometimes does work without charging. She asks what constructions he has has donated and he tells her that he’s donated a school and a center for orphans. Vero is glad to hear that. She tells him that it’s painful when one loses their parents so young. She tells him that he probably has a lot of resources to be able to help. Martin tells her that he thinks the will to help is more important than the resources. Or does she think that resources are more important? She tells him that she believes that money is important. Dun dun dun. [*Thunder sound*…..we’ll have to start a drinking game and take a drink each time we hear it…]

Salma and Montserrat chit chat at a table about the work (plastic surgery) Salma has had done. Salma is glad she had the work done because she likes to look good for her hubby. Montse mentions how she’s sometime envious of how happy Salma and Jorge are together. Salma thinks Montse could start again…… Monste says nah. Now she has enjoys her free time. She can paint and go to all the art events that Mariana organizes. Monste mentions how happy Mariana is with her boyfriend. Salma says that Montse has told him that Pablo paints really well but she knows nothing about him. Monste mentions that Pablo is from the province and he and Mariana met at Bella Artes where Mariana studied and Pablo won a scholarship. “A scholarship?” Salma asks intrigued. Mariana and Pablo show up and interrupt. Montse mentions that it won’t be long before Mariana and Pablo get engaged. Salma congratulates them and comments on how Mariana will get married before Virginia. Mariana would more than happy to get married right away because she’s in love with Pablo. Pablo isn’t that entusastic about getting married soon and looks uncomfortable. Mariana kisses Pablo. Mariana tells Pablo they should set a date. Pablo thinks it’s too soon. Montse says it’s never too soon when there is love. Montse suggests the two of them get married in December. Mariana likes the idea. It gives them time to get things ready.  It’s settled - they’ll get married in December. Pablo looks like he’d rather be dead…..

Casa De Cresencio
Padre tells Cresencio that today no one remembers what happened. It was other times. Well, Cresencio remembers, and that’s enough. And if at the time he couldn’t keep what happened to his sister Abundia from happening… the same thing won’t happen to Ana Perla. Padre asks why would it have to happen. Look at Blanquita - she has more freedom and is a good girl. Cresencio says it’s because she’s always with her little brother Polo. The boy is like her shadow. Cresencio tells Padre that he doesn’t agree with all the freedom Blanquita has and if he puts up with it it’s because he can’t order her daughter around since she married Joaquin and it’s her husband who decides.

Jardin De Prado Castelo
Mariana mentions how she and Pablo will need a home with huge walls to fill it up with Pablo’s paintings. Salma hopes to see those paintings one day. We find out that Pablo was Montse’s art teacher. There is chat about what a gooood painter Pablo is. Pablo for the first time since he arrived at the party is actually not looking bored and he talks about how he is passionate about nature and how he loves intense colors. He mentions his trip to the jungle where he will paint something special. Mariana mentions the portraits that Pablo has painted and how good they turned out. Pablo says that yeah he also paints portraits. Montse mentions the names of the rich ladies he has painted and well Salma wants a portrait as well. Salma asks if Pablo can paint her portrait. “Well…..” Pablo starts to say. Mariana interrupts him and answers the questions for him. She replies that of course Pablo has time. When Pablo returns from the jungle it will be the first thing he does. “Isn’t that right?” Mariana asks. “Yeah” Pablo replies reluctantly. Salma excuses herself becaus she has to supervise Veronica and she hopes that Vero is coordinating it so dinner can be served. Montse will accompany Salma. The two leave. “Aren’t you glad that we can start to tell the whole world about our wedding?” Mariana asks Pablo. “Ummm no” Pablo replies. “What are you saying?” Mariana asks angrily. Pablo tells her that he thought about it and he can’t marry her. Mariana is not pleased. [What did she expect? She didn’t give him a say in this at all…]

Vero asks Martin if what she said bothered him. Martin tells her he was taken by surprise - not everyone responds like that. Vero says she’s different and she hopes her sincerity doesn’t make him feel uncomfortable. She doesn’t want to appear to be better than how she is. She says that perhaps her biggest flaw is that she’s sincere. Martin tells her that he can’t stand people who are liars and hypocrites. Vero says that if she told him that money is important it’s because it’s true - with it you can buy freedom. And that’s very important to her. *thunder sound* [let’s take a drink….]

Back at Mariana and Pablo’s table, Mariana wants to know what Pablo means when he says he doesn’t want to get married. Pablo tells her it’s soon - he is just starting his career and he has nothing to offer her. Mariana tells him that that’s now and that he is advancing at big steps. By the end of the year, he will have made a lot of money with the portraits she will get him to paint. He tells her that it’s not that easy and says he doesn’t like painting because he has to. It’s like making love without wanting to. Mariana says that his portraits have been great and up until now now one has complained. He tells her that it’s because of the technique. He wants to have the freedom to paint what he loves. He doesn’t want her to make plans because he doesn’t know how long he’ll be at the jungle. Mariana tells him that if it’s because of that then don’t worry about. He scared her because she thought he didn’t love her enough. But he loves her, righhhht? Pablo looks like he’s not so sure….

Martin tells Vero that she says money is important but you can’t buy everything. You can’t buy love. Vero can see that her sincerity upset him. People never take it well and she’s sure that he thinks that she’s a gold digger but she’s used to people thinking what they want about her and she doesn’t care. He tells her that he still doesn’t know what to think about her but he’d love to get her know more. She’d love it too and tells him to ask her anything.

Casa De Cresencio
Abuelo reprimands Manuel for his behavior. Abuelo tells Manuel that Padre Juan told him what happened with the miners the day before. “I told you they behaved rebellious especially one of them….” Manuel tells Abuelo. Abuelo wants two things to be clear to him - he can take care of her sister but he doesn’t want him to mistreat her again and he forbids him from messing with Magdalena. Abuelo also doesn’t want Manuel to mistreat the miners. “You told me to have a firm hand with them and I’m showing character like a good boss..” Manuel tells Abuelo. “It’s one thing to be strict and another to be tyrant, I’m not like that and you don’t have to be like that....” Abuelo tells Manuel. [Abuelo may not be tyrant with the miners but he sure is with poor Ana Pearla who he punishes for wanting to read a book] Abuelo tells Manuel that he may not accept it in front of everybody but he has to tell Manuel this. Abuelo tells Manuel that just because he isn’t at the mine all day doesn’t mean he doesn’t know what happens. Manuel tells Abuelo that all he does is to make him happy. Manuel leaves.

Jardin De Prado Castelo
Pablo tells Mariana that of course he loves her. She tells him they can get married then and find a solution for the rest later. He tells her that he doesn’t want her to think that he’s ungrateful and he’s thankful for her help for getting important people to want him to paint them. But...he wants her to remember that he needs his freedom. If he starts to feel that he is obligated every time he paints then it won’t be fun anymore and he’ll start hating what he loves the most. We find out that Mariana was the one who got him a millionaire client who wanted paintings from the jungle. Pablo was happy with that client. He needs to find inspiration in a natural environment and a find a fresh face that inspires him to paint because he wants to.

Casa De Cresencio
I think Mejia has told us who that “fresh face” will be because we cut to a scene with Ana Perla who is still in her room embroidering. Blanquita and Polo come to vist her and throw stones at her window to get her attention. Ana Perla thanks her cousins for coming because she was bored. Abuelo has come into the room and asks Ana Perla who she’s talking to. Ana Perla tells him that she’s talking to her cousins. Blanquita tells Abuelo they came to say hello but Polo wanted to tie his doggie Onix there. Blanquita will be right in and Polo will be outside taking care of Onix.

Jardin De Prado Castelo
“Perhaps we can talk about a mutual acquaintance...Demetrio Silveria…” Martin tells Vero. *thunder noise* [let’s take a drink….] Vero is surprised to find out Martin knew Demetrio. Martin tells her Demetrio was like his best friend. Vero asks Martin if he lost contact with Demetrio like everyone else or did they get mad because Vero ended things not so well with Demetrio and was upset with him for how he left. Martin tells Vero that the last he heard of Demetrio he had gone to find a fortune and thought he could dig for gold. Can she believe it? Vero thinks it is possible. She was just reading that people who dig for gold can become rich in less than a year if they have a little bit of luck. Does Martin think it’s true? Martin thinks it is true because there are a lot of people who do achieve it. But there are others who don’t make it because alcoholism and desperation invades them in places like those.

Casa De Cresencio
Blanquita greets her Abuelo warmly. Abuelo knows Blanquita is here for her cousin. Blanquita says Ana Perla isn’t only her cousin but her best friend. Well, the only one because there aren’t many people in Mina Escondida and in Puerto Nuevo. Abuelo knows Blanquita is looking to become friends with just about anyone. Abuelo tells Blanquita she should take care of herself. She’s a Senorita and she needs to respect herself. Blanquita says her dad gives her permission to be in town because he knows it’s safe. Abuelo isn’t so sure it’s so safe. Blanquita says she’s always a good girl and is accompanied by Polo and Onix. “Yeah, sure…accompanied by a kid and a dog who won’t defend you from the cruelty of men..” Abuelo says. Blanquita hopes that one day Abuelo will understand that not all men are bad. Just look at her father and himself. Abuelo agrees that there are some men that are good but that doesn’t mean that her father shouldn’t be more strict with her and Polo. Abuelo reminds Blanquita that Ana Perla is punished and no one will speak to her. Blanquita tells Abuelo that she brought Ana Perla something to read. Abuelo tells Blanquita that she knows Ana Perla can’t read novels - that’s why she’s punished. Well, Blanquita hasn’t brought a novel for her to read but a huge bible. Abuelo thinks it’ll do good for Ana Perla to read the bible. Abuelo mentions that Ana Perla already has one. “Well, this one is bigger and the words will get inside her head easier..” Blanquita tells Abuelo. He doesn’t let Blanquita take Ana Perla the bible and tells her he’ll give it Ana Perla. Blanquita sort of hesistates in giving him the bible but he snatches it from her. Abuelo sends her off to the dock so Uspin can take her home to Mina Escondida. Abuelo opens the bible to make sure it’s safe and when he sees that it is he closes it. Blanquita looks as if she’s hiding something…..

Jardin De Prado Castelo
Vero didn’t know looking for gold was so dangerous. Martin tells her that those places can make anyone crazy and if they don’t have the support of a loved one they can send them to an abyss. Martin tells Vero that Demetrio was weak enough to not be able to handle a hell like that one. Vero wants to know what Martin is talking about. Has he had bad news regarding Demetrio? She wants to know if Martin knows anything. Martin asks her if she would care if anything bad happened to him. Of course she would care. Would she be capable of saying a prayer if Demetrio had died? *thunder* [drink…] Vero says it would be a shame if anything bad happened to him but Demetrio chose his destiny like everyone does. *thunder nose* [drink…] “It’s her...the woman who I am falling in love with...I’m going to make you suffer so you’ll pay for the death of my brother..” Martin thoughtbubbles.

Casa De Cresencio
Ana Perla tells Polo she hopes Abuelo will let Blanquita in to see her. Polo tells Ana Perla that Blanquita will at least try and see her. But Blanquita wasn’t able to go in and see her. Ana Perla closes the window in a hurry because she’s sure her Abuelo will come in to reprimand her because her cousins came to see her. Abuelo comes into the room and gives Ana Perla the bible. The bible is the kind of book that Ana Perla should be reading and not novels. Ana Perla tells Abuelo that she does read the bible too. Abuelo tells Ana Perla that she should reflect on what the bible says especially about how a woman should behave and be an obedient girl. Abuelo leaves and Ana Perla tells God that she does believe in him and his word and it’s not that she doesn’t wants to read the bible but she also wants to go out and get to know people or else when will she meet love. She asks God to help her. Ana Perla opens the bible and flips through the pages and is happy to find the “Veinte Años Despues” book hidden inside the book. She thanks God and says that if she won’t ever be able to have a boyfriend at least she will be able to get to know love through the books. [And if she reads Fifty Shades she’ll get to know it really well...well sort of…]

Pueblo Nuevo
Blanquita visits the church to pray so Abuelo won’t find out that she hid a book inside the bible. Blanquita and Polo have to hurry up to make it to dock in time so Uspin can take them home or else they’ll have to spend the night at Abuelo’s house. And if Abuelo finds out that Blanquita hid the book... The two of them hurry off to meet Uspin at the dock. Blanquita crosses herself and asks God to forgive her.

Mina Esconidada
Nanciyaga refers to herself in third person as usual and is awaiting the patron (boss) at Demetrio’s home. She reads stones to know when he’ll return.

Jardin De Prado Castelo
Vero tells Martin that she thinks that Demetrio knew what he was doing if he went looking for fortune. Martin tells her that he was probably desperate looking for something. Vero says that Demetrio made his decision and wrong or not we are all the architects of our own destiny. Martin says that Demetrio chose his path but sometimes we find people who push us into emptiness. “Well, it’s probably due to lack of character, because when it’s not convenient to have someone near you, you have to push them away even if it hurts you and move on…” Vero says. Martin fantasizes that he snaps and grabs Vero by the neck accusing her of having caused Demetrio’s death. Back in reality, Vero gets Martin attention and asks her what he was thinking about. “That I’d love to kill you with my own hands..” Martin thoughtbubbles. Martin apologizes and says he was umm remembering. Vero asks him if he feels okay, they were talking about Demetrio and money. “Which is what you care about a lot..” Martin tells her. Vero says that it isn’t like that. If love came to her then she wouldn’t care if her boyfriend were poor. Sweet music plays in the background as our two leads stare into each others eyes. “Really?” Martin asks. “I don’t lie, please don’t think that I am not sensitive, what you told me about Demetrio has me worried, and if you find out anything, please let me know, I wouldn’t want…..well I hope he’s okay” Vero tells Martin. Martin stares at her and doesn’t respond. She asks him why he looks at her like that. He tells her that she’s so beautiful and is capable of driving anyone crazy.

Jorge has been chatting with a guest named Cinthia. Salma and Montse join them and he tells them that Cinthia is making him laugh. Salma hopes Cinthia is having a good time. Cinthia is having a good time like she always does at Salma’s parties. Cinthia and Montse leave to chat. Salma comments to Jorge that Virginia and Emi have been dancing. Jorge is glad they are getting along better. “Don’t you think they make a good couple?” Salma asks Jorge. Jorge tells her not to get any ideas. Emi sees Virginia like a cousin. Jorge mentions that Martin was interested in Virginia. Salma doesn’t think it’s strange because Virginia is so pretty and it’s logical that Virginia would have a rain of suitors including their son.

Emi and Virignia join Mariana and Pablo. Pablo gets upset with Mariana over something and leaves the table despite Mariana attempting to make him stay. Emi leaves to be with Pablo. At another table, Emi asks Pablo if he is having problems with his girlfriend. “No, it’s just that I’m from province and somewhat shy and not used to formal parties with snobs..” Pablo says. Pablo apologizes for having made a comment like that since after all the party is in Emi’s honor and home. Emi tells him not to worry about it. He loves people who are sincere and agrees there is a lot of almidon (starch) there. Pablo asks Emi if he is talking about him and says he deserves it. Emi swears he isn’t. He tells Pablo that if he studied anthropology it’s in part because he loves the diversity of cultures there is in their country. Pablo likes their people as well but those people that are authentic and defend their roots. Emi tells Pablo that they’ll have to talk about this one day. Emi is so interested in this subject that he named his horse irecha which means governor. Pablo mentions that he’s about to take a trip to the jungle because he wants to find different people and different faces. Pablo says that now that he is talking to him he’s liking the party better. They toast to different cultures and clothes without starch.

Mariana tells Virginia that she didn’t waste time to invite the handsome guy from the club. Virginia tells Mariana that Emi invited him - they are both passionate about fencing. Mariana wishes Vero luck because it looks like Martin is interested in Vero. Mariana and Virginia look at Martin and Vero who are talking at another table. Mariana thinks Martin is a womanizer because before he couldn’t stop looking at Virginia. Virginia tells Mariana she only loves Emi. Of course if a handsome man is interested in her it makes her feel good. Mariana asks if she would change Emi for Martin if Martin were interested in her. Of course Virginia wouldn’t - she’d only use Martin so Emi would realize that he could lose her if he didn’t decide to be her boyfriend soon. [News Flash Virginia: Emi could care less if you are with someone else] “Who would’ve thought you would talk about using men…” Mariana tells Virginia. “It was just a way of saying…” Virginia tells Mariana. All Virginia wants is for Emi to value her more. Well, Mariana saw Virginia dancing with Emi. Yeah, but that’s not enough for Virginia. During dinner, she’ll do what she can so that Martin is closer to her than Vero. “To see if Emi reacts..?” Mariana asks. “Yes, and also so Vero can see what it feels like to have someone take the man you are interested in…” Virignia says.

Vero is flattered that Martin think she is beautiful but to think that she drives men crazy… Martin asks if she is acting innocent. Vero says she isn’t. She hasn’t met a man who has gone crazy for her. Well, only when she beats them at fencing… Martin asks if she always drives her life with as much security as she handles a foil and a sable. “Soft but firm..” says Vero. Vero thinks that one makes their destiny deciding when to fight and when to quit but always fighting. Martin asks her if she always drives her life with as much security. Does she always choose her destiny? Vero decided that she had to many years ago. She tells him that she and her Tia Salma don’t get along well and she sent her to a boarding school in Switzerland. At first she missed her home, Emi, and her Tio Jorge. But she decided that she should  take advantage of what life was giving her. That’s where she learned French and her two biggest passions - fencing and horse riding. Martin tells Vero that he’s getting tired of hearing about so much passion for fencing. He wants to see her in action. She asks him if he is challenging her. “If it isn’t too much of a duel for you…” he says. “Just as long as you aren’t kind with me..” Vero says. Martin promises that he won’t have pity with her. He notices the rope burn mark on her hand and asks her what happened. She begins to explain that it happened when the horse... But she changes the subject when she sees the V mark on Martin’s hand. She asks him what happened. He tells her that he was furious and ummm well he rather not talk about it. “Well, we are both wounded now and it’s another coincidence between us..” Vero says. Martin doesn’t think it’s a coincidence and says that he believes they are there together face to face because of destiny. *thunder* [last drink for today…]

AVANCES: Virginia badmouths Vero to Martin and Emi; Vero and Martin share their first kiss.

Virginia being the hostile sibling reminds me of how Cesar trashed Max on QA!

Wow, this is a great recap Mauricio, thank you.

With things cutting between scenes I had a hard time keeping up with the only conversation I cared about, the one between Veronica and Martin.

Veronica is pretty much a cold fish (await the whole back story and reason she is emotionally unavailable) and can see how Martin would think she is the V. Though she says she doesn't lie, she is not real clear however, and all this was caused because Demetrio misread her intentions or flat out ignored the truth for a fantasy. Problematic for me is a smitten Martin doesn't want to believe she is the V and keeps grasping at nuance to support fantasy too. There likely has been dozens of men just like Demetrio, Eli and Martin that desired her but came away with a handful of nothing.

Thank you for this remarkable recap, Mauricio. Loved the drinking game, but I'm afraid it may get us all in trouble before this is over.

We got a ton of background last night, didn't we? And a little foregrounding too – Pablo and Ana Perla will make a darling couple, but poor Pablo will have to contend with her evil brother and (possibly) well-meaning but tyrannical grandfather.

And Vero spent her formative years in a Swiss boarding school while Ginny got to loll at home and soak up Salma's attention?

And Salma had a little work done on her face so she is looking younger than her years. Hah.

All in all, this has been a terrific first week with a nice exposition of what promises to be a satisfying and ridiculously complicated plot. Bring it on!

Amazing recap!

ITA Tofie. Vero seems quite the cold fish, and distant. I am glad she did say money didn't matter in love and that she could be sensitive but felt a little too late.

Carvivlie and Tofie,

I thought Vero just sounded very young, like someone who is coping with a difficult situation by convincing herself that she is in control.

I'm anxious to see the next scene...

Mauricio,
Thank you for the recap. It was truly amazing!

I had commented earlier in the week that I had not planned to watch this, but I have to admit that I have been reading the recaps. I really enjoyed watching "La Mentira" with Kate DelCastillo playing the role of Vero, so I am interested in seeing what happens with this version. Problem is I don't think I will have time to watch. Another problem is that you guys make it sound so good that it makes me want to watch and comment.

I know where the story is going, so reading your comments and speculations is so enticing. But don't worry, I will not let out any spoilers.

Out of time...hasta pronto!

Thanks for a great recap, Mauricio! Loaded with detail and snide asides!

At least we know why Salma looks so young! Plenty of superficial society types here, easy to despise until we know them better.

Our artist, Pablo, has all my sympathy. He's in danger of being smothered by Mariana and her portrait commissions. Looks like he deserves an escape to the jungle. He needs to beware of Nanci and Grandpa.

If grandpa discovers the mutilated Bible, Ana Perla is in for a world of trouble. Reading a worldly romance AND concealing it in the scriptures.

Great recap, Mauricio. I just want to note that the name of the town is "Pueblo Nuevo" not "Puerto Nuevo". I don't think they are anywhere near a port, hence the lack of wifi and difficulty traveling there from the outside world.

Mauricio, thank you for the awesome recap! I can't blame Vero for being distant, she lost both her parents when she was very young, she got sent away because her aunt disliked her attitude and instead of being treated like a member of the family she is instead treated like hired help. She knows Salma dislikes her- and she knows why, can you imagine growing up with no mother figure and knowing that your cousin is more loved and cared for. We have seen that Vero is a hard worker, kind and that she speaks her mind, which causes people to think poorly of her. Virginia has shown that she's a liar and that she plays victim at every turn. I don't think it's hard to figure out who the bad apple is.

Eli, the family will never realize that Virginia is the evil snake until its too late!

Thanks, Mauricio. Terrific recap.

Eli, ITA on your comment about why Vero is distant.

I see Virginia as a whiner, but not a villain - yet. Seems she's been in love with Emi forever so I can't see her ever being with Demetrio.

Anxious to see what will happen in the jungle with Pablo and how it will connect with Vero and Martin.

Mauricio, Thanks for such a wonderfully detailed and thorough recap. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

I shouldn't take the time for this telenovela but I've missed Caray Caray and thought I'd take a look at Lo Imperdonable since i am a fan of Ana Brenda (despite CI).

So far I agree with Tofie. Though I don't dislike her, I really don't care much about Veronica at all. We have no clue if what we have seen of Vero is what we get. No thought bubbles, no confidant friend or nanny to let us inside her mind. I'll be interested to see if I can care about her more as the show progresses.

I don't care about Ginny either though I have seen nothing to make me think she is a "bad" girl. She is selfish and whiny but far from bad so far. And, if since she was young, she was constantly restricted from participating in activities the other kids did and reminded frequently to be careful of her heart, I can see how that (as well as not having her parents either) could have been tough.

My favorite character so far is Blanquita. I loved that she's so engaging and able to cajole the old man to some humanity. I internally cheered that she got the novel past him--I didn't think it was going to happen for a moment.

My other favorite character is Onix. I'm glad he's attending school and getting an education with Polo.

Veronica got it good despite losing her parents and Salma and Virgina not liking her. She's adored by her adoptive father, adored by her adoptive brother, been given an excellent education, a great job and opportunity in the family business and enjoys the trappings of the upper echelons of society so boohoo she got chewed for handwriting a place card, Ana Perla has been locked in her room for a day and a half for reading a book.

At least I haven't heard Veronica crying about her mistreatment, yet, and maybe she was horribly mistreated before Jorge took her in or her self assured demeanor perhaps a facade. I can see Demetrio falling hopelessly in love with her and trying his best to impress her and so will Martin. Both boys lost their parents too but didn't have anyone with a big house and tons of bucks to catch them so no wonder a young, smart, beautiful debutante would be on their bucket list.

So far, Virginia is just annoying like a gnat.

Great recap Mauricio. I loved your little comments and now I want them to do a scene of grandpa reading Fifty Shades of Grey lol.

I don't think the show is trying to make us feel sorry for Verónica. At least not yet. She's mostly been shown to be well adjusted and happy, although it's understandable that she's bothered by her aunt and cousin's treatment.

When it comes to characters who hadn't endeared to me at this point I have to say I don't care for Pablo all that much. His attitude at the party bothers me, I even like his vacuous girlfriend more since she at least seems sincere in liking him, he just looks bored and conceited.

Jarocha

Mauricio! Thank you for taking the time to translate for us - it's great!

All I can say is that Virginia is not what she appears to be at this point. Probably wrote letter to Demetrio and signed Veronica's name.
Too, I think Emiliano will show his true stripes once he is aware that Martin and Veronica are in love. So it will be interesting to see if Sergio handles this in a bit of a different style than usual.

Nice recap Mauricio. Good detail. I'm learning a little more about the people in this story. what exactly is the disease that Virginia has? Is it hereditary. she doesn't look like she's all that sick to me. Shes full of hell that's what's wrong with her. And she probably inherited that from her adopted mama cousin.
Martin has a terrible vicious temper, even in his thought bubble.
We'll see what happens Monday.

Nina

Jarocha, ditto for me and Pablo. Don't care for the guy. He's eating well and his rich gf continues to try and set him up with more work and all he wants to do is bitch about the same people that will fund his jungle getaway. Let him starve.

Gale, with you and think Virginia will pull some of the same hijinks with Martin but it is in Virginia's best interest Veronica and Martin or Veronica and any guy hook up. Long as Veronica is available Emi will will remain hopeful.

Yeah Nina, Martin's fuse is already lit and he's on the edge. Not the most stable guy to have sharp pointy things in his hands.

Thanks for this excellent recap, Mauricio.

Well, after a week of this I've already developed a visceral dislike of Martín. Both he and his deceased brother come off as mentally unstable and immature and we haven't even had a chance to get to know Demetrio.

I'm going to try to keep an open mind but I really don't see myself mellowing toward Martín, especially after his bizarre behavior including self-mutilation at his brother's gravesite and that murderous fantasy directed at Verónica during their conversation at the garden party.

Carlos

Thanks so much, Mauricio. Nice to be reading one of your great recaps again. It's been too long!

My favorite character is Blanquita too. Love her and her little brother, and Onyx the dog.

Vero has a lovely smile, or should is say Ana Brenda does, but the character comes off as a bit cold so far. I agree, that it would be easier to relate to her if she had a friend or confidant who allowed us to see more deeply into her character.

Carlos- So far Martin has self mutilated and had murderous fantasies. Is it possible he's already pulled ahead of Jero in the jerk department?

Salma: Lucrecia 2.0

Just saying!

A real golddigger wouldn't announce that money is important to her.

This is what we know about Veronica:

Salma doesn't like her because of who her mother is.

Salma sent her away as a teenager to get rid of her.

She likes more masculine pursuits, like work, fencing & horse riding

She doesn't seem to have any female friends (although she gets on well with Mariana)

Men fall for her because of her beauty (and probably also because she's unavailable)

She worked with Demetrio

This is what we know about Virginia:

She has some kind of heart ailment.

She's Salma's cousin in law's daughter

She doesn't do anything

She's had a hankering for Emilianino forever

She's not above using a man to make another man jealous (per what she told Mariana)

It seems as though the relationship was secret. But Demetrio & Veronica knew each other from work so why would they keep this so secret?

The Veronica we've been introduced to likes trying to tame horses and sounds like she'd be up for an adventure. Why wouldn't Veronica have visited Demetrio at the mine?

Because Veronica & Demetrio knew each other I don't see how Virginia could've been pretending to be Veronica unless the Demetrio/Veronica relationship was pen pal only, and shouldn't Demetrio have known Veronica's handwriting from work?

In fact, all Demetrio needs to do is get a sample of Veronica's handwriting to compare it with the love letter he found at the scene.

Martin, I mean.

David- salma would be the softer side of Lucretia. vicious with class and sanity.

Just makeing an observation. And who was ronnie's mom? And was salma jealous of her beauty, cause veronica is beautiful, and those dimples, gorgeous.
Did I hear martin say he's falling In love with vero. Who falls in love in four days. Well maybe some people do. He's going to have a tough time of it, trying to love her, and hate her if shes the " V". Poor guy, he's torn.
Onward troops to another week of hate-love-hate-love, whatever.

Nina

Carlos- martin is in deep, deep depressive grief. So he's acting a little crazy, murderously so. ( if thats a word). He looks like he could get a machete and go through the whole family. But he's now in love, It's only the first week, maybe he'll mellow.

Nina

I kind of agree with Carlos, Martin appears to be too emotionally unstable to commit to love & revenge at the same time. His killing fantasies might turn real one day if he is not careful. Remember revenge is supposed to be a dish best served cold?

I agree if Martin ends up exacting revenge on Veronica by killing her, it will haunt him!

Nina: Something tells me that Virginia is the "V"!

Just saying!

Perhaps there is no real V but only the vacuum between the ears of Martin and Demetrio.

Maybe the letter was simply a fake, we didnt see anyone marrying a millionare. Or Virginia was screwing with Demetrio but as we know she only loves Emil. There is no sense why Virgin would like to hang out with Demetrio if he was a mere poor slob. Except if she was using him to bore her time.

Who is V? Is it a person or a thing? Martin should hire a PI to investigate when, where, and how Demi endded up in this place. Cause right now his anger is getting the best of him and he can't see clearly.
Thats my thinkin on. Lets see what the second week shows us.

Nina

Mauricio---Thank you. I really enjoyed your through recap.
Pablo looks like he'd be better off watching paint dry brought a chuckle because I often don't do well at parties either.

Salma's diamond necklace was sure eye catching.

Right Eli---It's easy to spot the bad apple. I'm worried as to just how bad the bad apple is going to get.

For those that do not think that Virginia isn't so bad, Just look at the evil anger in her face. the gringo says---just wait. We have only completed five days.

Anon207---Just get a sample of Veronica's handwriting. That would be to simple for a novela.

Steve---Veronica won't be killed.

Nina---Who falls in love in four days? Gringo says, how often does one meet a goddess?

I hope that Ana Perla gets let out of her bedroom. GOOD GRIEF!!!

2nd week should be interesting.
Must see tv.
the gringo

Maybe its part of B613 !

I see a growing group of co-conspirators besides the usual villains!

Gringo- I know Vero will not get killed, i only fear that these violent hallucinations wont end so in the end these might turn out to real physical violence. We dont need a bitchslapping main hero with attitude issues.,I only hope that this was the only hallucinaton we have seen so far.

It's kind of scary seeing that imagination run amok like that. He could have snapped her neck in his imagination. If he's falling in love with her, I don't see it. But this is only the second week. Lets hope some of these jagged edges give way to lovin feelings. For veronica's sake.

Nina

Thank you everyone for the great comments!!!

LatinaInMD - Thanks for the clarification about the name of the town. I just changed it in the recap.
