Aw, Jarifa. *sniff* I'm touched. If I may respectfully disagree though. It's people like you and the patio peeps who make Caray special.

((Bring it in for a group hug, everyone))

Capítulo #87 A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That Part One

Part 1

It seems like we are in transition time here and there is literally a little bit of this and that as we collectively "tread water" for a while. So here we go.

Back at Santiago's office, Santiago tells Estefany thay they are done with whatever it was exactly they had which wasn't very much of anything anyway. She says that is okay; she does not need any more explanations. She tells him it is a real pity that he is going to keep being Isabel's puppet but that 's how it is. She leaves. Santiago is left muttering.

Back at the Carmona's living room, Granny Perpétua looks at Estefany and tells her "If looks could kill . . ." Estefany objects saying she is not the enemy and that since María and Facundo are going she will show Granny that she can count on her. First the world will end the sun will stop rising every morning protests Granny. Nobody defends Estefany. Granny takes her on the side and tells her an old saying from her village: "Tigra no come tigra y si la come se la devuelve." A tiger doesn't eat a tiger, because if she does she will throw it up. ( sort of like it takes one to know one) Granny reminds her she will not be doing what she likes neither with her or her family. Estefany is not smiling.

The Amarripa brother have Franklin the detective/investigator at the local market as their "hazing" of him continues. They stop at a restaurant inside the market where doña Úrsula waits on them. They start out with some beer and some nice hot tripe stew with onions, oregano and some freshly made tortillas.

At the Velasco house, Santiago is moving back in with all of his luggage. Isabel is still in the middle of her "suicide recovery" just having arrived from the hospital and acting all faint and needing Ale and Rocío to support her. They all play along. She does not want to be alone. Isabel wants to know why Santiago is putting his luggage in the guest room and not in "their " bedroom. She is all smiles. He says they can talk about it later. He is not going anywhere. Isabel says she will talk to the kids, too about getting theeir family back on track.

One of the Amarripa brothers says to doña Úrsula that the tripe stew is not quite hot (spicy) enough. She brings him a bowl of ground red pepper which he liberally adds to Franklin's bowl. Frankliin takes a taste and it is animation time with flames coming from his mouth, smoke from his nostrils and burning eyes. The Amarripa brothers tell Franklin he is a bigger crybaby than a gringo eating a tripe taco. Franklin decides to show them what a man really is and to their surprise chows down the stew.

At Florencio's apartment in D.F., he, El Panzón along with a third guy Evaristo are playing dominoes . Evaristo is talking about the strange foreign guy who turned up in San Bartolo el Chico and is asking about don Porfirio. He won't say why he is looking for him. Maybe he wants to settle things from way back when. Maybe he is a hitman. Florencio looks concerned. He will take care of the matter. The important thing is that the Amarripa brothers don't let it slip where don Profirio is.

Part 2

At the Velasco house, Felip and Rocío are getting into it because it really is irking Rocío what a hypocrite her aunt Isabel is. Felipe is trying to calm her down and just take things as they are. Rocío thinks that Isabel only let Santiago move back in so she would not lose the house and not for him or any of them. What about what the doctor said about the pills???? They all know she didn't take them but they have to walk on egg shells so she won't felel bad???? Felipe tells her that Ale doesn't need any more scandals. She agrees but still does not believe a thing Isabel is saying.

In the Carmona kitchen Jacinto is curious about the places Granpappy Porfirio used to go with his wife Granny Carmona. Granpappy tells him the next time they are in San Bartolo el Chico, he will take him around to all the places they used to go where they were so happy. Jacinto and Granpappy then get busy eating some conchas and drinking some milk.

Facundo and María are busy packing. Facundo sounds unsure of himself and is all grateful to Maria. She is a queen for having put up with all of his crap. He is truly sorry for all of thr pain he caused her. She says she loves him and he should never doubt that. He wants to make it up to her for all of the sadness he has caused her. Kissy face time.

The family is all in the living room to see Facundo and María off. Facundo says they will miss them all but not too much because he and María need some alone time. Facundo is leaving Beto in charge the house. He is his right hand man again. They all hug and kiss Facindo and María good bye. Estefany thinks how she would like María to drown and never come back so then she could console that superhunk Facundo.

Isabel is out in her garden watching Facundo and María leave. Rocío asks if she wants to know where they are going. Isabel says no. Rocío baits her by saying she knows; so Isabel asks where. Rocío tells her about the cabin in the mountains they are going to and how they will be solving all of their problems on this trip. Rocío says she knows ithay Isabel's emergency was all a big show but in spite of that knowledge her uncle Santiago came back to take care of ner. As far as Isabel is concerned, Santiago came back because it suited him. She did it for the house but also because Santiago is her nusband and for her children. The fact that Rocío and Felipe are her niece and nephew has been a mere formality all of these years, she has always seen them as her own children along with Ale.

Estefany helps Jacinto and Susana sneak out of the house by the animal pens and so facilitates them visiting with Ale. Estefany tells Ale that she as her Aunt Estefany will be there for her too. Ale is all upset about jer mother whom she loves but does not jnderstand. They all console her.

Back in the Velasco yard, Isabel is telling Rocío how she does not like to lose and therefore is not willing to throw their family out on the garbage heap. Rocío asks if they matter to her. Of course, Isabel loves them: they are all she has. Rocîo tells Isabel she loves her and she wants to believe her but it is hard because she hasn't always been sincere and has had so many secrets. Isabel agrees it is hard for her to be sincere when she has been betrayed herself so many times. Now she wants to do things the right way. She also warns Rocío not to be like her. She should not let hate cloud her judgments as she has done. Rocío smiles and walks away as Isabel remembers her own secret and how she can never let Rocío know because if she did she would hate Isabel with every fiber of her being.

Part 3

In the Velasco house, Rocío runs into Santiago with breakfast in bed for Isabel on a tray. He is in his cooking get up with an apron and scarf on his head. She tells him to be careful with Isabel. After what she just pulled with the pills, whlo knows what else she might try. Rocío is looking for some concrete proof she has changed. She does not trust her yet. Santiago clearly is bothered by Rocío's attitude and tells her not to think that way.

Carmen tries to avoid Diego at the university but is not successful. He wants to know if she is avoiding him because she really does like him.

Florencio arrives at the Carmona house to warn Granpappy Porfirio about the man asking about him in San Bartolo el Chico. He fails in his mission because Granny insists that he tell her first what he has to say to Porfirio. She thinks he has ulterior motives. As she tells him to leave and disappears in the house he thinks that the only bad thing about being married to María would be having old Granny as a mother in law.

Susana thanks Estefany for listening to her. Estefany says she can call her "aunt".

Florencio does not leave the Carmona house right away. He goes around looking for a way to get in to see Porfirio. He fails in that taska but does run into Estefany. She has seen and heard him muttering and tells him only the tormented and crazy talk to themselves. Florencio looks her up and down a couple of times.

At the boutique a couple of Francis's "friends" are looking through the merchandise as Rocío supervises. Beto comes by and says since he is the man of the house, Rocío can come by tonight if she wants.

María and Facundo have arrived at the cabin with its manicured lawns and topiary. The place reminds María how happy they were each time they came in the past. He says they are going to be happy from now on in spite of his foolishness. She doesn't want to talk about that anymore. That is all in the past. He is her past, present and futue. She adores him. He is her life. He is he only man. She loves him. He is overcome with emotion and carries her inside the cabin.

So who is Estefany seeing again.? Florencio recognizes her as Facundo's defender. He is surprised to hear she is living in the Carmona house. She explains that by calling María her sister it just means they are the best of friends. He calls her beautiful and his sister in law and this is all about to get interesting when his phone rings and he has to answer it.

So, Francis is at it again with the info her friends brought back from the boutique: she is inviting everybody at the university to the Carmona house for a party. (Did we just not see this a few weeks back with the cookout?). She makes sure Diego knows. It will be the party of the year! A surprise!

The call for Florencio is from that skulker sin par: Hilda. She is calling him to let him know that María and Facundo are at the cabin and that she got the info from Isabel. She is ready to help him however she can. One hand washes the other. He is going to need Her. Estefany wants to know if it was his wife or gkrlfriend on the phone. Luckily for her he has neither. Good news for her. He introduces himself but he has to get going. Estefany thinks He is such a good looking rich guy and she even likes his car. She thanks St. Jude.

Part 4

It is lovey dovey tour time for María and Facundo as they tour the picturesque property the cabin is on. María "fishes" Facundo out of the lake. Kissy face time!

Santiago walks into the Velasco living room as Isabel is hanging up the phone. She explains it was Frederick and they are going to get together for breakfast some time. Isabel wants to talk to Santiago about the pills. He says the doctor explained it all. She wants to know Why did he decide to take care of her and give her all the gifts if he knew it was all a lie. Because he loves her is Santiago's answer. He realizes how desperate she must have been to do what she did. She agrees that she was desperate. He just wants to know what they can do to fix their marriage. They cuddle.

Jacinto is outside playing with his top trying to become an expert so he can impress Ale. Then he can be her boyfriend tand when they grow up they can get married and travel all over the world. All of the animals are talking about him. He says "yo bailo mi trompo y ella que pare la trompa". I will spin my top and she will pucker up (for a kiss).

At the company, Esteban comes into Felipe's offices and says he has some papers for him to go over. There are some very serious problems with the majority share holder part. Esteban tells him to read it. Felipe says it can't be. Esteban says yes, it is. (?)

Isabel and Ale have some mother daugher bonding through yoga and just being goofy in the back yard.

Susana sees Jacinto outside and is moaning how he has all this time to play outside when it takes her so long to do her homwork. He aadmits that he was finishing his homework as they wre all copying down the assignment. She says he is just saying that to make her feel bad. He says no, he would be the happiest boy in the world if he could be like her. She is tall, good at sports, can fight with anyone she wants . . . She is his super hero. Earlier Jack to called Susana "la gusana de la caridad" (the worm of charity). Now she calls herself "super gusana" (super worm) who is going to teach Jacinto how to spin a top. She does not do too well and even the little goat laughs.

At the cabin, the fireplace is roaring. The room is filled with candle light and Facundo and María . . .are having a fine old time . . .

El fin

Jarifa

Correction part 3: Ale thanks Estefany for listening to her.

Jarifa

Thanks Jarifa! You're so right that this epi was a hodgepodge of stuff. But you pulled it together brilliantly.

Now we know that Hilda is working with both Isa and Florencio, passing them info about Fac and Maria. And passing info to Fac too. I don't even see what she has to gain in breaking up Fac and Maria. Is she just trying to get back at Maria for supporting Rocio?

So nice to see Fac and Maria enjoying themselves at the cabin.

The yoga with Isa and Ale was so goofy, but it was nice to see Isa trying to make Ale laugh since she's usually making her cry.

Carmen getting flustered around Diego. Hmmmm. I think she should test her feelings for him by giving him a big old kiss. :)

Glad to see Stefi set her sights on Florecio. Go with that, Stefi. Stop having evil thoughts about Maria.

A wonderful morning read, Jarifa. The title is perfect. The episode felt like it was all over the place. Thank you so much for the sayings and their translations. I almost choked on my coffee with "skulker sin par." Ain't that the truth.

Esteban is up to something. He's been getting Santi to sign papers for two days and now there's a "problem." Sketchy.

I also liked Isa being goofy and making Ale laugh. The poor girl needed it.

Comment bomb...

Estefy thanking San Judas was funny. Fac? Who's Fac?

Vivi, I agree about Hilda's motivation. It could be payback for María but then who knows? She is so loopy it could be anything real or imagined.

Sara, Ale sure needed that silly time with Isabel. Isabel is so self-absorbed we rarely see any activity that serves anyone else's needs but her (boo hoo) own.

Jarifa

Sara, Jarifa, great, funny intro and great recap for said hodgepodge, yes!

Stephanie will be redeemed I have no doubt but she sure is annoying the heck out of me with her back-stabbing hypocrisy. Better be a hefty redemption.

If I were Hilde, Facu would be the person with whom I would feel the most animosity. He was the one who invited Hilde to stay with the Carmona's a while back specifically to break up Rocio and Beto. When that didn't work, he (and the rest of the family) was particularly nasty about making her leave. Am I remembering this correctly?

Lola

I think you're right, Lola and that makes perfect sense.

OT- yesterday on the Lichita Facebook page they shared a picture of Silvia Pasquel knitting on the set. It was so cute!

Lola, you are right about Facundo's role. He did take advantage of Hilda's obsession with Beto and then kicked her to the curb.

I liked:

The talking animals and the little goat laughing at Susan's attempt at spinning the top.

The location of the cabin in the mountains.

Franklin diving into the tripe stew to show up the Amarripa guys.

Florencio going to warn Porfirio.

Florencio and Estefany meeting.

I did not like:

What looks like could be ANOTHER Francis surprise party at the Carmona's.

Granny being the keeper of the castle and not letting Florencio talk to Granpappy Porfirio.

Santiago and Felipe being too quick to establish any kind of old status quo at home which just taught Isabel that her fake suicide worked. For me "not upsetting Ale" was an easy way out for them not to have to discuss anything too much. I liked Rocío's approach of not trusting Isabel right now but still being able to love her at the same time and telling her so.

Jarifa

Jarifa, fantastic as always. So much to love about your recap, particularly “The call for Florencio is from that skulker sin par: Hilda”. Most excellent.

Mighty Mouse. What's not to love? What a mouse, what a mighty fine mouse. Thanks Sara!

“She is his super hero”. Is there anyone more loveable than Susana and Jacinto??

"Granny reminds her she will not be doing what she likes neither with her or her family. Estefany is not smiling". As frustrating as Perpetua is, she is spot on in her perception that Estefany covets Facundo and her “friendship” is not in Maria’s best interest. At least one of her annoying obsessions is correct.

I thought I saw Feli and Rocio trying to smother their laugher when Isa was putting on her show. I got the distinct impression that the actors really like each other and are having fun! What a coincidence – so are we!!

Love Santi with his scarf/turban. I just want to pinch his cheeks.

I was hoping (obviously in vain) for a Francis free episode. Sigh. This "Party" is already headed for disaster.

Seeing Carmen so uneasy around Diego makes me think she may be more intrigued than she thought. I think a kiss is a great test Vivi, let’s hope that happens.

Although still miffed at Facundo, I did enjoy seeing those few gratuitous shots of Eduardo. I wish we had seen a bit more of the romance, but it was a most welcome relief to all Maria and Facundo's squabbling.

Jarifa, you rock. Totally.

Diana

Diana, you and me both hoping for a "Francis free" episode. You are so right about Granny and her assessment of Estefany. Now that she has decided not to meddle and support María she may turn out to be a likable character again.

Jarifa

Jarifa, thanks. The episode was all over the place but you nailed it. Even down to the details on Franklin's meal, yummy.

Stephanie will be redeemed I have no doubt but she sure is annoying the heck out of me with her back-stabbing hypocrisy. Better be a hefty redemption.

Lola, ITA. After that crack about Maria drowning, I'm wondering if Estefany likes anyone at all. Florencio was clearly taken by her looks, but there better be more motivation for her redemption than just snagging Florencio.

I love Perpetua getting on Estefany's case. Somebody's got to do it.

Nice to see Fac and Maria get busy, but from a skip I heard in the soundtrack during the fireplace scene I'm guessing the Uni censor got busy too.

Hilda knows Fac doesn't support Rocio, so maybe she's thinking one day he'll be on Team Hilda. Fat chance.

Loved Franklin downing the five-alarm stew to show he's a man. Dumb, but entertaining.

Mireya left Santi without a fight, but she's nuts so I don't think we've seen the last of her.

I'm a sap because I'm more sympathetic to Isa. I wished she had grabbed Ale by the hand and skated "with" her though.

Niecie, I sure hope Mireya is still in the mix. It would be totally out of character for her to give up/disappear so easily.

The Uni censors were doing their job several times last night. Too funny.

Jarifa

Thanks for the great recap and to all of the recappers this week. I got behind and finally caught up last night.

Francis is so annoying and the pop-up party is a good idea to take revenge but my money is on Granny being able to keep all those kids out.

Kinda annoyed Estefy has so turned her back on Maria. The drowning comment was over the line for all that Maria has done for her. Do hope she and Florencio get together but definitely for the right reasons and not bec of his money.

So has Isa had a true change of heart about Santi? Asking him to come back to the bedroom? The bedroom where she hasn't let him touch her in a year?

Carvivlie, glad you had time to catch up. I have grown so tired of Isabel. IMO Santiago's fatal flaw is his being in love with her.

Jarifa

Jarifa: Thanks for the great recap. Don't know how you can get such detailed recaps up so quickly. You da bomb!

Maria tells Fac they won't discuss it anymore? Wasn't that one of her big reasons for this weekend--so they could talk things out?

Maybe Carmen just feels a little uncomfortable around Diego because he was touching her when she was "half-naked" during the photo shoot.

I'd like to see Diego tell Carmen that Frances is planning a surprise party at Carmen's house. This inviting people to parties at the Carmona's is getting old.

Disappointed in Estefany for the Maria drowning line. Agree, it crossed the line. But wondering if it's just so automatic for her to scheme that she's not even aware she's doing it.

Worst part for me--besides a Hilda sigting--Granny having the nerve to keep Florencio from speaking with Porfirio. Granny NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS why Flor wants to talk to Porfi. She also did a lot of finger wagging and her voice is beginning to grate on me.

Rant over.

Nanette

I really don't understand how Perpetua thought she had the right to prohibit a visitor for Porf. He's not a child.

As a mom who is also a metiche I would understand Perpetua keeping Florencio from seeing Maria. (And really I recognize that that isn't right either, but I understand it.)

But she has NO right to dictate who Porfirio can and can't see.

I'm not looking forward to yet another party crash organized by Francis.

PS I was really fascinated by the top spinning. I wonder how hard it is to learn to do. My bet is that back in the day I child would spend all day learning how to spin it and mom was able to get some work done.

Nanette, I appreciated your rant. Granny had no business sticking her nose in Profirio's business. She needs someone to keep her busy and to keep her in a better mood (not Porfirio, please! )

Jarifa

I really don't understand how Perpetua thought she had the right to prohibit a visitor for Porf. He's not a child.

Vivi, that reminds me of the lol when Porfirio said he didn't have to abide by Beto, the substitute Man of the House, cause he was way older.

I know Porfirio's wife probably left him for good reasons, but I don't think I'm going to be able to be mad at him when whatever it is gets revealed.

"I don't think I'm going to be able to be mad at him when whatever it is gets revealed."

Ditto. I just love the old scamp.

Jarifa- You would think a big house, four grandkids, and a menagerie of animals would be enough to keep Perpetua occupied.

She could be doing all the things she accuses Maria of neglecting. And while she's at it, teach Conchita to make all those dishes she's always harping on her for not making.

PREACH!!

Perpetua is my number one annoying character. Fac is a close second. He made up for a lot of crap with those knitting needles.

Vivi, great point!

Sara, I would have to add sniveling Isabel to your list. Granpappy is fine just the way he is: what you see is what you get.

Jarifa

That's what I love about Grandpappy. For the most part he is honest and up front. I'm not sure what's up with his wife. Seems to me SHE left HIM (probably because of his ojos alegres.) I assume he chose to lie to Fac so he wouldn't feel abandoned.

Really my list of characters I dislike is rather fluid. Isa was a little off the hook last night because she made Ale laugh. Which is kind of stupid of me since the trauma of Isa's "suicide attempt" far outweighs a stupid exercise suit and slapstick. But I'm wishy washy. ;-)

Loving the comments.

Sara, although I'm on the fence is to who is more annoying, I will go with Perpetua over Isabel.

I do agree with you Vivi that rather than complaining, Perpetua should try and help out more rather than constantly criticizing. Especially poor Conchita.

Facundo, also in the annoying character gets a hall pass from me for the moment. Those shirtless overalls are to blame I fear.

And as I love the actor, Porfirio also gets a pass. As you noted Jarifa, he is real. To a fault.

Diana

As annoying as Isa is, Perpetua just has this air of "I know what's best" without really listening to anyone or really trying to understand a situation. I think that's why I have Perpetua at the top of the annoyance list today.

Perpetua has moved up into Fac's spot in my annoying list. Her advice is based on her experiences, but she doesn't take into consideration differences in situations, people, places or even what CENTURY we're in. She's out of step.

It would be one thing if the way Perpetua handled her marriage had made her happy. But it didn't. From her own accounts, she was unhappy with her husband and his cheating ways. So why does she think Maria being a good, obedient wifey is going to guarantee her happiness when it didn't bring Perpetua happiness?

Crazy=doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

Capítulo #88 7/30/15. A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That Part Two

Part 1

On we go . . .

Isabel and Ale have a wonderful time ice skating.

At the cabin, María and Facundo are in bed and she wants to call home and check on the kids. Facundo assures her that the kids are okay and they --he and María--are going to be better. The reminisce about Jacinto as a baby and now much time has passed. They disappear under the blankets.

Isabel falls on the ice but it is no big deal. She and Ale are full of smiles, tickles, and giggles. They have missed each other so much.

Still in bed, María just wants to stay there with Facundo and never go back. Facundo says they have changed their lives once and they can do it again. He has made a decision but teases her because he won't tell her what it was. More extracurricular activities.

Susana is chasing Jacinto around the yard for disrespecting her when he laughed at her not being able to spin the top. All of the animals are telling him to run.

Isabel goes into Rocío's room where Rocío is listening to music with her ear buds. She finally gets her attention. She tells he about the great time she had with Ale ice skating. Rocío is happy that they had a good time. Ale needed it. Isabel wants to do the same with Rocío. She wants to make things right with her, too.

It seems this is quite the eating trip for Facundo. He has seen a food stand and is ready to eat again. María reminds him he already had his breakfast a half hour ago: eggs ranch style with fried tortilla, ham and chilaquiles with extra cream and cheese, 2 sweet rolls with atole (hot beverage made from corn) and three flans for dessert with some coffee to top it off. He seems mildly hurt and offended that María is keeping track of what he is eating. What has grabbed his attention are some women who are selling squash blossoms and huitlacoche which is a fungus that can be found growing on corn. María does not want any more food. He ends up ordering a whole slew of quesadillas: two squash blossoms with cheese, 2 huitlacoche with cheese, 2 chorizo withncheese, 2 cheese with chorizo, 1 ground beef. He wants them with a little cream, a lot of salsa and more cheese. María just wants juice. She just smiles. (funny but I just got a newsletter this evening with recipes for flor de calabaza and huitlacoche since they are summer favorites for chilangos /residents of D.F.)

Back at the Velasco house, Isabel suggest she and Rocío have a truce. They both apologize. Rocío agrees and they both agree to work on their relationship little by little. They hug.

Now we have a scene of all of the wonderful quesadillas being delivered to a table where Facundo and Marîa are looking into each others's eyes. Facundo tells the woman serving the food that they are on their second honey moon. He promises to make María happier than happiness itself til death do they part. The server suggests that they partake in the culture of that area and have Axolotl their shaman of the water marry them and bless their union. They both end up eating the quesadillas.

Back at the Carmona yard , as Jacinto comes running by, Andrés asks what game he is playing. He says it is called "Bad for you, if I catch you" and starts running again with Susana in hot pursuit. Ale tells Andrés that this is no game. Ale says they have to save Jacinto. She will grab him and Andrés can grab Susana. Andrés thinks about stealing a kiss from Susana. Ale realizes she just sent him into Susana's arms. Susana is not happy when Andrés grabs her. Jacinto is just happy to throw his arms around Ale.

Part 2

María and Facundo go to the river and look for the shaman Axolotl (his name is from Nahuatl language of the Aztecs and refers to several kinds of Mexican salamanders). They are now dressed in the clothing unique to the area. María has a bouquet of flowers as an offering. Axolotl pops up from the water, María and Facundo end up in the water. What follows is sort of a combo of a new age and old time purification/let's wipe the slate clean ritual. It is very poetic and spiritual. Their union is purified. After the ritual María and Facundo end up swimming all around.

Back in the yard, susana steps on Andrés's foot to get away to confronts Jacinto. Ale said it was all her idea. Susana says it is her fault and now she has created the two couples she fears most in life: Susana with Andrés and she with Jacinto. Jacknto wants to know what is so bad with that.

María and Facundo are not out horseback riding. It is just like when they were young. Their lightheartedness does not continue because Florencio appears on the scene. He is there to tell them that their neighbor Isabel is up to something. She will do whatever she can to separate them. He is just there to warn them because you never know what she is capable of. He is there as a gentleman and a friend. Facundo responds with "Ya viniste. Ya dijiste. Ya te fuiste" (you came, you spoke, you're gone). Facundo starts losing his temper as Florencio tips his hat and leaves. He picks up a small boulder to throw it at Florencio but can only manage to drop it. He laughs and the anger is passed.

At the Carmona house the whole family is gathered around the 3D tv with their 3D glasses on. Conchita is holding hands with Porfirio and is not happy when Porfirio invited Estefany to come sit by him and translate some of the English dialogue for him. None of this lasts very long when the door bell rings. Conchita answers the door and there is a young man who removes her 3D glasess and asks her if This is where the shindig is. He barges in and is followed by a whole bunch of college kids with balloons cheering and led by Francis. Carmen is mortified. Granny's efforts to put a stop to it all are stopped when Granpappy Porfirio is more than happynto have a shindig at the house. He starts dancing and only cares about the girls.

At the Velasco house, Felipe wants to talk to Santiago about a very serious problem that he has discovered at the company that he does not know how to handle. They never have that discussion because their attention is turned to the very loud music coming from the Carmona house. Isabel is moaning that she cannot rest even for a bit but then starts dancing eith Santiago.

Francis is running the party. Carmen is just standing with her mouth open. Beto wants someone to give him a hand and get Porfiro aaway from dancing with the girls. Granny is looking for the shotgun. Carmen tells her please. no, they are kids from her university. Diego comes with Andrés so he can see Susana. Carmen asks Diego to help throw out all of these people that Frnacis (la Pancha) invited. Francis is dancing on the dinner table. The kids are trying to take photos of Margarito. Francis gets knto Carmen's room, fknds her diary and photographs pages from her diary. Carmen is the only one who mentions calling the police but that does not happen. Instead Granny wants to get Carmen and Estefany to go with her and beat the kids with broom handles so they will leave. Carmen stops that saying that she with Beto and Diego will get the kids to go. She begs them not to tell María and Facundo. She will clean everything up when the kids leave.

Excellent Jarifa.

I always enjoy the way you phrase things so perfectly “She and Ale are full of smiles, tickles, and giggles” and “What follows is sort of a combo of a new age and old time purification/let's wipe the slate clean ritual” were wonderful and just one example.

How did you manage to capture Facundo’s feasts so fully? I have to admit, I read it twice as my mouth was watering.

Facundo and Maria were very sweet. It is a shame they have spent so much time fighting recently as I don’t feel their history, the real, deep love for each other they obviously feel has had the opportunity to be conveyed believably enough to the audience.

I so enjoyed the “playing” with Ale, Jacinto, Susana and Diego. It’s such a credit to the steadfast loyalty of these friends that Diego has not caused a wedge between Ale and Susana. Even though Susana may like him (I have no sense of her true feelings), she would never act on it without talking to Ale first. Diego however, clearly prefers Susana.

Is Isa really trying to be the mother Ale deserves? Is she sincere in that she wants to make things right with Rocio as well??

Is Facundo (gasp) starting to change? “He picks up a small boulder to throw it at Florencio but can only manage to drop it. He laughs and the anger is passed” certainly sounds like he may be shedding resentment and bluster. We live in hope.

Estefi had one glass lens that was brown and one blue one (?)

Francis has long since ceased to bring the slightest bit of amusement or purpose to this story. She has crossed the line of propriety once again by her intrusive, terribly cruel (and tacky) commandeering of Carmen's diary. I loathe that girl.

I will comment more tomorrow...

Part 3

Right at that moment, Facundo and María pull up and as they are entering are wondering what is going on in their house. María tries to make sure Facundo is going to stay calm. She reminds him to focus on telling the family with good news.

Inside Beto is blaming Carmen. She is blaming Francis. Beto is asking if Diego is going to help move the kids out. Diego says he has to find Carmen. Granpappy has grabbed Concha to dance with and won't let her go. Carmen goes to get a breath in her bedroom and finds Francis reading her diary. Diego is close behind. . She is ready to let Francis have it but unfortunately Diego holds her back. Seems that Francis has found an ineresting passage where Carmen wrote that she wants Diego to be the first guy she has sex with. Carmen is so embarassed.

At the same time Facundo has arrived with María and he wants to know what in the h---is going on in his house. Rocío slips out quickly. Facundo confronts Beto about the mess but Granpappy pops up telling him about the great party and the pretty girls.

In Florencio's apartment, he is playing poker with El Panzón and Evaristo. Evaristo is ready to go back home.. El Panzón says there is nothing to do in the city. At least at home there are cookouts and cock fights. El Panzón turns on the tv and starts to dance which grabs Florencio's attention away from his cards so Evaristo can see them and cheat. Evaristo tells him Facundo is his enemy. Florencio corrects him: Facundo is not his enemy he is his rival. Florencio tires of them asking him questions about getting María back. He says that he Florencio has to be patient because his plan has just barely started.

Finally Carmen breaks free of Diego and gets her diary away, tells Francis off and throws Francis out of her room along with Diego.

Isabel is dancing in the bedroom and Santiago is watching. They are both laughing, then cuddling but he decides it is better that he go to sleep in the guest bedroom since she is so tired out. He will dream of her. Isabel tells him to dream!

Finally, all of the kids are gone and Facundo is trying to get the whole family together for his good news announcement-no María is not pregnant. He keeps on bellowing "Yoya" but Carmen is nowhere to be seen. Granpappy guesses that they are moving back to the country. He is right. Facundo has decided that they are going to sell everything and ALL of them are moving back to the country. They all cheer except for Beto who just looks sick.

Excellent finish Jarifa.

"Inside Beto is blaming Carmen". Hmm, not very galan like.

As I noted in my earlier comment, Francis has gotten on my last nerve. When Carmen does end up in a romantic moment I expect Francis to leap out at the most inopportune time.

I think everyone will be happier back in the country, the dear animals included.

Interesting that Carmen is into Diego (whom I inaccurately noted rather than Andres in my other comment. Sorry) Well, physically. I think her heart still belongs to Feli.

Thanks for another fantastic recap, Jarifa.

It was ironic that Beto blamed Carmen for the party, when it was HIM opening his big mouth and telling Rocio about his parents going away in front of Francis' minions that caused this.

Loved the whole shaman scene- how he appeared out of nowhere and then disappeared just as mysteriously.

Very interesting that Maria and Fac have decided to go back to the country. But you know that old saying about never being able to go back home. The fact is that they've changed, and SBeC may not fit them anymore.

Isa is saying all the right things to her family, but the fact that she faked her suicide attempt and after that plotted with Hilda to break up Fac and Maria's weekend away, makes me feel she's just faking it. But what's her game plan?

What really aggravated me about the episode was the fact that Francis could just waltz in with her friends and NOBODY could throw the kids out or at least call the police to do the job? This is the 2nd time she's pulled the same trick. Then there is Diego who was no friend of Carmen's holding her back from going after Francis in her own room in her own house.

Too bad Facundo and María could not have spent more time at their cabin get away.

I am not very confident in the new and improved Isabel and Facundo.

Diana, that food really did sound good. It made me laugh that Facundo was so into it that he seemed that he just could not help himself. I managed to catch it all on my trusty VCR. I could never type that fast to catch it in real time.

Vivi, the shaman scene was something else as he just popped up and then just sort of slid away. Magical! I liked that they were in an actual river/lake/ pond(whatever it was). My favorite part of the scene was when they were swimming.

Having to run off to work this morning, but had to tell you how much I loved this. Thank you! I love starting the morning relaxing in bed and reading your recaps. Thank you!

Special thanks to your educational note about the shaman's name. I can continue in my TN habit secure in the fact that is a noble and academic pursuit ;-)

Forgot to say- I was shocked by Fac's announcement that they were moving back. I was sort of surprised that Florencio didn't mention the detective looking for Porfirio.

Sara, yes, this is a " noble and academic pursuit" and just proves that we are "lifelong learners". LOL

Jarifa

That was an interesting omission, wasn't it? Hmmmmm . . .

Jarifa – Terrific recap. The food scene was smashing and I’m delighted you gave us so much detail.

Dang, they wouldn’t let Perpetua get her shotgun or even use a broom handle on the home invaders.

I’m warming to Isa, but ITA the real test will be when she and Fac come face to face again.

Loved the shaman scene, especially when he thrust Fac’s head underwater and was unconcerned about holding him there too long - lol. In the underwater scenes, Maria was wearing a very sexy bathing suit. You go, girl.

I thought Florencio went to the honeymoon to tell them about the detective looking for Porfirio. Hombre, they already know all about Isa and her tricks. Interesting though that Florencio said to his buddies that Fac is his rival, but not his enemy. Will these two become friends again in the end?

ITA everything said about Francis. Going into to Carmen's bedroom was colmo and I can't believe she didn't even get slapped.

Niecie, I was sure hoping Granny would get out there swinging the broom handle if not pointing the shotgun. They sure missed a great comedic moment because she would have cleared the place out. As others have said of other characters, Diego is dead to me for preventing Carmen from physically confronting Francis in her own room. Bring on mild mannered Felipe.

Can't wait for tonight and the fallout from Facundo's announcement.

Jarifa

Thanks Jarifa. Another stellar recap. I can't tell you how many things I'd miss out on if it wasn't for all you recappers.

Diana: I agree about Frances. In fact, she's tied for Hilda as #1 on my annoying list (nobody will oust Hilda from that spot). If she was ever funny, she stopped being that looooooong ago. The only positive about these type of characters is knowing they're going to get their anvils, eventually.

Sara: I was also hoping Flor was there to tell Fac about Porfirio. (OT: Mask is AWESOME!!!).

When they superimposed the "Facundo y Maria" onto the screen, I was hoping they were telling us that the two are now firmly back together. From the previews, it looks like Estefany is going to try to trick Fac into thinking Maria is interested in Flor. Maybe he won't believe her. That would be refreshing.

I was furious with Diego for keeping Carmen from going after Frances. I don't believe in violence to solve problems, but F deserved a smack or two! Maybe Diego has more feelings for Frances than he's admitting to himself. Maybe that was all about protecting F. from retribution and not C. from getting in trouble, again.

Finally, did anyone else notice that really unusual sculpture that was sitting on a bureau/table behind Isa when she was talking to Rocio? The woman with the funky head?

Nanette

Nanette, guess we have too much novela to go for a happy ending for Facundo and María already. Would have been nice though to have the new and improved Facundo in place., When he was bellowing for Yoya last night, I just cringed. Since Estefany is mainly interested in $$$$$$, it would not be surprising to me she would still be working all angles including Facundo.

Jarifa

Jarifa: I fear you're right.

I still feel like Estefany does this stuff because it's all she knows. I wonder if she was always like this or if it started when Santi left her at the alter.

I've spent my morning overthinking Florencio's statement about Facundo not being his enemy, but his rivals.

I've seen athletes say in interviews that rivals make them work harder and actually bring out the best in them. I would love for that to happen with Fac.

I have to admit, it would be interesting to spend a few days in SBeC.

NANETTE! I forgot Estefy also got dumped at the altar. Another thing she and Florencio could bond over!

Sara: good point about Flor and Estefy both being left at the altar. He definitely was attracted to her. I didn't feel like he was to Isa, so that means something about Estefy stood out for him.

Fac feels threatened because he knows Maria had feelings for Flor and since he "stole" Maria from Flor he's afraid Flor will "steal" her away from him. Doesn't matter HOW many times Maria has told Fac he's the only man for her.

This just occurred to me, but how was Florencio NOT an issue when they all lived in SBeC? Am I forgetting something?

Oooh!! Excellent point!

My beanie must need a tune up.

I think because he was married. Seems like he became a widower not long before they left SBeC. Now enough time has passed for him to have mourned, AND he's heard that the formerly rock solid Carmona marriage is in trouble.

Vivi- I knew I was missing something. Who's Mighty Mouse now? ;-)

I really don't have the head for TN details.
