La Sombra del Pasado, Capítulo 115 (Mx 117-118), 07-28-2015: Choose a title.

So many potential titles: We Are Fam-i-ly! aka Oh. Sh*t. aka Awwwww sh*t aka ….has hit the fan aka The Culpas Come Home to Roost aka Honor They Father and Mother may be the hardest commandment aka OMG You Guys! aka The BEST EPISODE EVER.

NOTE: This was clearly multiple episodes, but they left in all the good stuff! The short will be long, the long is crazy, the capítulo is not to be skipped. If you were planning to skip it, DON’T SKIP IT. WATCH IT. I’ll put up a short of it tomorrow and edit this, but I gotta get sleep and I wanted to post in case anyone is awake and needs to discuss because this eppy was JUICY!

Short of it...
The secret of Eman's paternity is coming out like the Diana Ross song. And he is NOT happy about it. He rages at Aldonza and Cris because he thinks they've always known. He confronts Hum and Sev. And he pretty much hates everyone. (Then he disappears and everyone asks if he's at the bar. Which he--eventually--is.) This straw FINALLY breaks the camel's back: CRIS IS MOVING OUT!!! At leaat, he tries. But in pushing his hysterical mother off of him, he accidentally pushes her down the stairs! Cande is hysterical and in a lot of pain. She has multiple fractures, including one in her neck. DON ANTONIO'S SECRET IS REVEALED!: Sev raped his little sister! Who then killed herself. And Don Antonio wants to kill Sev! AND ALDONZA TELLS DON ANTONIO SEV RAPED HER! Minor players: Lola, Lulu and PJ try to track the Candy House's migration. Val is predictably whiny. Mari's remorse grows when Eman ignores her and goes to the bar.

The Long of It: PJ and Don Antonio have a good guy powwow on the porch. They’re happy for Eman, but appreciate quieter celebrations. What’s more, Don Antonio shares, returning to SL has awoken within him a demon he thought was long dead. Sev has debts to pay…PJ tells him Sev's horror spreads to many, but advises him to let God handle it.

Wrapped in a blanket in the stables, Cris remembers Aldonza’s earlier confrontation with Sev.

Lola joins Aldonza, who is taking a break from the festivities outside at a patio table outside (surely we all lift our glasses at this). Lola’s having some trouble watching Emanuel and Vero and Aldonza having trouble looking at Eman knowing that his happiness won’t last long. She tells Lola that Eman is her and Cris's brother.

A drunk Sev is passed out over his desk. An exhausted Cris sleeps in the stables.

Aldonza, now back in the house, talks with PJ alone. He explains that he hasn’t known the real truth for very long, but it's part of why he wanted to be at the exhumation. He says first he thought the missing baby was Lola, but after S/V showed up, he realized he was wrong. The important thing now is that she has a brother. She can't help hating on everyone who prevented them from being happier earlier, particularly Adelina. He thinks she’s being hard on her tia and reminds her that Ade's keeping this secret doesn’t undo all that she’s been or done for Aldonza or Roberta.

Sev awakens, no doubt jostled from sleep by the multitude of misdeeds that haunt him. He pulls his pistol from the desk and mutters that one has to do everything oneself; you can’t trust others. (For Emanuel?!)

Eman sits on an outdoor bench, soaking in all of the sun’s rays on this, his first day free in a long time. Aldonza comes to sit with him. Smiling gently, she tells him they have to talk. Some of it’s good news…but some of it might be painful. Does he remember when she promised to help him find his parents? Well, now she knows. She knows everything.

An unusually disheveled Sev, cravat untied, saddle pin who knows where, saunters determinedly into the stables. Suddenly, the fear in my throat for Eman drops, a stone in my stomach as I realize that Emanuel is not the target: Solitario is. “Contigo, me lo voy a cobrar,” he announces and aims the pistol at the horse. (="With you, I’ll be paid.")

(Sidebar: I’m not ashamed to say, I’ve seen enough TNs to wonder if Sev will shoot that horse and Eman would have a physical reaction, all the way at El Santuario. I have no grip on reality anymore.)

Back at El Sant, Aldonza tells Eman he was born there. Not there, in SL, but there, in El Santuario House. His mother was named Roberta Alcocer..."I'm your sister."
"I'm your sister."
("Um...say what?")

At Las Animas, Cristobal rushes in to stop Sev. They fight over the gun, Cris slamming Sev’s arm repeatedly into the stall door until he drops the pistol before snatching it up himself. “Give me the gun!” Sev screams at him. “Give me the gun!”

“My sister?”

Aldonza reaches out to hug the stunned Emanuel, but he whirls to his feet before she can touch him. “This can’t be true. Why are you saying this?” Aldonza says she couldn’t believe it at first either, but it’s true. If he wants proof, he can ask Hum since he delivered Eman himself. No, Eman repeats. If that were true, why didn’t he grow up on El Santuario with her? Aldonza explains that his horrible monster father stole him away and pretended he was dead. And that horrible monster will burn in hell for all he’s done to them. He’s…Severiano Mendoza.

Sev wants the gun. So he can kill that horse "just because it’s his". Cris tucks the gun into his waistband instead and tells his dad to calm the hell down cuz he’s drunk. Sev tells him he’s ungrateful and turns to leave but Cris stops him in his tracks “You disgust me. Disgust and pity. That’s what being your son makes me feel.” Sev is shaken by the words, but not stirred to anything good. He continues his exit.
"You disgust me."

Aldonza assures Eman that it’s true, but he doesn’t want to hear it; he's furious! This is why she’s always pitied him, isn’t it! She knew this whole time and didn’t tell him?! Now furious herself, Aldonza shoots back: Of course not! She never pitied him; she's always loved him like the brother he turned out to be! By this time, they’re both channeling their parent(s) at their most hot-headed and Eman storms off.

The next day, Adelina shares her guilt about Ray’s death with PJ. PJ wonders if Sev really shot Ray, but Adelina confirms it was Rob. She asks him not to tell Aldonza as this will only further degrade her memory of her mother (and because, apparently, she never learns). PJ agrees, but only because the bishop reminded him that he can’t fix things himself and thinking he can is the sin of pride.

Cris goes to El Santuario to talk to Aldonza. Lola tells him Eman is out of jail and Aldonza is at the waterfall. He should find her because they need to talk. Cris turns over El Solitario to Lola’s care because Sev is a homicidal maniac.

Cande is jumping at noises (and probably...ahem...shadows;)), but it’s just Dominga bringing her food because she skipped dinner and breakfast. Cande asks about Cris, babbling that she did it all for him, so he could grow up in a unified family. Dominga is très confused. Finally, Cande blurts out that Emanuel is Rob and Sev’s son! Cara de whaaaa...! on Dom.

Emanuel demands that Hum tell him that what Aldonza said isn’t true, but Hum’s done with lying or trying to defend himself. It’s all true. Eman tells him all the admiration and affection he had for him just died. Why?! What did he do it for?! Eman screams. His position as town doctor, Hum admits. He tries again to claim Eman is truly like a son to him, but Eman calls him on his BS. If that were true, Hum wouldn't have hidden the truth all these years! Like his brother earlier, he tells his father figure that now he feels only shame and pity for him. He voices the fear that has haunted Hum, unspoken, for decades: "You're just like Sev...Or worse." Eman leaves without another word and Hum can only cry.

Cris finds Aldonza at the waterfall. She tells him about Eman.

Pru sweeps into Val’s room to take her home. Val tells her she can’t leave now because something serious is going down. She doesn’t know what it is, but this time it’s not about Aldonza. Pru refuses to leave until they hear all the full gossip.

Cris and Aldonza are furious and disgusted about all of this. Cris swears his parents will hear him. He’ll do everything in his power to make sure E gets the same privileges as he does. Aldonza warns him that E thinks they knew the whole time, but Cris says that’s the least important part of this situation.

Sev glares at his workers in the stable, telling them they’re traitorous dogs. He literally (and I really mean literally) whips El Mudo! With a horsewhip! Emanuel comes flying in and shakes Sev like a rag doll! He curses Sev’s presence in his life, calling him the most despicable man he's ever met. Then, just like his sister before him, spits in his face.

Enraged, Sev rears at him, but Cris appears between them suddenly to further chew him out. How could he send his own son to jail?! Ni siquiera los lobos traten asi a sus hijos (=Not even wolves treat their children like that); how can he call his workers traitors?! Sev claims this isn’t the place for this conversation and Cris sarcastically asks if he’s worried he’ll lose what little respect some people still have for him. Sev will talk, but not there. Cris is like “I don’t want to hear it. Eman’s the one that deserves answers.” But Eman doesn’t want to hear it either! He doesn’t want a damn thing from Cris, Aldonza or that mess, Severaiano! And on that note, he’s outta there.

Cande cries in her room, remembering the moment that she ordered Sev to kidnap Eman. “I did it all for you,” she murmurs brokenly to herself.

In his office, Sev pours himself another drink as Cris explodes on him. What he did was unspeakable! Unforgiveable! He hid Emanuel just to avoid a damn scandal, didn’t he?! Sev justifies himself nonchalantly: Eman grew up in a good house, didn’t he? Sev sent money for him and who knows how E would’ve turned out with Rob as a mother. Sev did what he had to do. A tiny switch clicks in Cris’s brain. “Then I’ll do what I have to too. Y punto.” He leaves.

Cande, finally braving Cris's wrath, is waiting for him at the top of the stairs. She's ready to talk, but Cris is done listening. “You didn’t give Emanuel any chances,” he spits bitterly. “I’m not staying in this house. And I don’t want a single dime from the people I’ve lost all respect for.” Cande is beside herself. Crying and begging, she removes everything he’s tries to pack into his suitcase. Cris gives up on packing and storms out of his room, with Cande hot on his tail. When she tries to physically pull him back, he pushes her away forcefully.

Which is why she tumbles down the full, entire-first-floor level flight of stairs.

“¡Mamá!”

Oh. Sh*t.
Sev, Val and Dominga come running. Candela is barely moving, writhing on the floor and crying in pain. Sev tries calling Hum, but he’s completely passed out drunk in his hotel.

Eman remembers Hum's confession and cries. “Why? WHY?!”

Ren and his dad meet up with Vero and Don Toño, who were supposed to be meeting Eman for breakfast. Ren fills them in on Eman's paternity.

In the living room, Cande and Dom are gone. Sev chews Val out because Hum didn’t answer the phone. He bitches about it for a while. Cris says the important thing is finding another doctor. He brings up Eman. Val, like the gossip mongering weasel she is, wants to know what E has to do with it, so Cris tells her. Sev confirms E’s paternity, then insinuates that Cris is happy Cande fell down the stairs because, you know, karma. Or maybe it wasn’t an accident? Cris, clearly exasperated and disgusted, says that’s bull and he won’t be (emotionally) blackmailed with this nonsense. He’s going outside; they should call him when whoever is checking Cande out is done. Val follows him out.

Ren checks for Eman…at the bar. Of course. The bartender knows him (of course), but he hasn’t seen him for a while; didn’t he leave town? Ren reports this to Aldonza.

Val is indignant with Cris about their parents’ deception. Cris is apparently too gobsmacked by the day’s events to tell her to get the hell away from him. She assumes Eman is demanding rights and privileges, right? (No, Vile, you incredible waste of humanity. Not everyone is a vacuous, whining, gold digging social climber like you.) Cris sets her straight. Val switches tactics: she shows her support by saying she knows he didn’t push Cande.

Ren and Al powwow at the law offices. Al’s scared that maybe E left town again. Ren tells her to calm down, he probably just needs some time. She asks about her father’s ashes, which can be picked up today or early tomorrow.

Mari tries to talk to Eman when she sees him on the street, but he blows past her without a word. Good.

A new doctor tells Sev, Val and Cris that Cande has multiple fractures and contusions. The most worrisome one is in her neck. They need to do an ultrasound, but they don’t want to move her too much for fear of causing more or permanent damage so they’ll bring a portable one to the house. He prescribes various meds (which leads me to believe someone’s getting drugged later. Muscle relaxants and tranquilizers? In Sev’s vicinity? No good can come of this…) and some love from her wonderful family. Yes, Sev says, taunting Cris. Love’s what she needs. He shows the doc out while Cris ponders showing his mom love when he’s hating her.

Don Antonio and Aldonza meet up at a café. Don Toño notes that this will mark Eman all his life. Aldonza knows the feeling: she too will be marked for life by what the animal did to her. Don Toño eyes flare with recognition. Somehow, he knows. “You mean…?”

Aldonza nods. And Lord knows why it’s here and now and with Don Antonio, but she says the words: "Severiano raped me." Toño starts to tear up. He tells Aldonza that he had a sister, Elisa. She was the younger sister…and Sev raped her too. She couldn’t get past it...and she ended up killing herself. Aldonza admits that she considered suicide too. Toño apologizes for oversharing, but Aldie says no; it’s good that they could talk to each other about this. Toño says he knows men aren’t supposed to talk about these things, they’re not supposed to share, but Donnie points out that she hasn’t discussed it much either. It’s so hard to deal with. It’s one of the reasons she can’t be with Cris. Toño swears vengeance. Since his sister’s rape, he’s had a pistol loaded with a bullet with Sev’s name on it.

At the church, Lola, Lulu, and PJ are trying to track the voyage of the Candy House. They’re super confused and have clearly forgotten to check the Patio. (Thank God we have Diva on this.)

Aldonza tells Toño not to dirty his hands with the scummy blood of Sev the Dev. He agrees, but wonders if the bullet is not for Sev, will it be for him? Aldonza tells him to have faith and live in his sister’s name.

Silvia pops by the church to ask PJ about Tomás. PJ gives to to her straight: Pru’s a manipulative liar, but she’s a teeny bit right because Tomás is a little inquieto(=restless). But, really, he’s good people.

Aldonza tells Adelina how Eman took the news. Aldonza’s still super pissed at Adelina, who thinks she’s being unfair. Aldonza recognizes everything Adelina did for her and loves her still…but she doesn’t trust her anymore. Adelina tells her that she told Joaq all about Eman. Aldonza’s cool with that; she’s proud Eman’s her brother. Unlike some people.

Cris is in Val’s room on his cell, ordering Jacinto to bring his mom’s meds asap. He tosses the phone on Val’s bedside table (sigh...smh: rookie mistake) and leaves to go check on his mom.

Aldonza asks Joaq if he knows where E might be. Joaq asks if they’ve checked the cantina (of course. This is so sad.) Not there. Not with Hum. Not in the fields. She’s getting a bad presentimiento(=premonition, hunch). Desperate, Aldonza calls Cris for help. Val checks the phone and sends the call to voicemail with a smirk. She then checks the voicemail, deletes the voicemail and bursts into flames. Wait. Sorry, that was just in my mind. Cris comes back immediately after she puts the phone down (classic TV timing). He’s asks if she needs anything because he has to go downstairs. She gives him his phone. When he leaves, she rolls her eyes. (Look, devil spawn, if it’s such hard  work pretending to be human, let your scales out so everyone can recognize and avoid you.)

Mari cries in her room to her mom because Eman not only ignored her in the street, but was heading into a bar. Irma tells her she won’t make a fuss, but she’s here if Mari needs her. Mari asks her to tell Lola that Eman’s drinking again. (Uh oh...now, he really is in the cantina.)

Cande cries that everything hurts. Cris advocates going to the clinic, but Cande doesn’t want to. She wants to stay there with Cris, who’s clearly still struggling with how angry he is at her, but assures her he’s there. “Swear you won’t move out,” she demands, somehow both coldly earnest and brokenly sobbing. “Swear it or…or I’ll kill myself!” The Patio gasps and wonders if Cris fragile spine will crumble under the pressure...It doesn't! Score one for Uber Spine! Cris is incredulous that she’s trying to use her fall to soften the crime of kidnapping and mistreating his brother for years. She howls in pain (Methinks Phantom Pain has jumped hosts and/or mutated).

Aldonza comes to LA to see Cris, but Jacinto has strict and serious orders to keep her out. Por las malas(=the hard way), if necessary. Well she brought Dom Camilo, who’s packing heat for the same reason.

Cande continues squirming and begging. She swears it’s not an idle threat. She did it for him! Everyone make mistakes! Right…? Cris rolls his eyes and (with far more civility and far less screaming and profanity than I’m using while yelling at my screen) explains that this mistake no tiene nombre ni perdón de Dios (=no name, no forgiveness from God. i.e. it's unspeakably bad and even God wouldn’t forgive it). Cande, just like her demon husband, calls him ungrateful. It’s like he only cares about the emotionally abused kidnapping victim who’s life she ruined. What about her suffering? What about how she’s stuck in a bed, barely able to move? She's his mother, dammit! Cris can’t even. He shakes his head and leaves as Dominga’s entering while Cande continues bellowing at him.

Jacinto tells Aldonza about Cande’s fall. Mel comes outside and Aldie tells him she’s looking for Eman. Mel suggests searching the…guess. Come on, guess. Yeah, that's right: the cantina. He says he’ll see what he can do in terms of getting her message to Cris.

Meanwhile, Sev tells Cris that he and Cande were both lucky. People die from falling down the stairs. Cris reminds him that his big boy pants make him immune to guilt trips. Sev decides he’d be better off checking out some problems in the stables. He tells Cris not to leave; his mother needs him now more than ever.

HellaShelle! This was awesome! I'm going to enjoy reading it again in the morning with my coffee :D I will chat more then and post that Candy House list. Ohhhhhhh, what an epic episode of epicness! Thank you!

Holey Moley. HellaShelle very well done! Note from yesterday evening-loved your succinct analysis of Adelina

"An unusually disheveled Sev, cravat untied, saddle pin who knows where, saunters determinedly into the stables"

"Sev is shaken by the words, but not stirred to anything good"

I laughed so hard when Lola, Lulu, and PJ were attempting to track the Candy House migration, Kat got that covered.

So horrible Don Antonio's sister took her own life and no surprise Aldonza contemplated it herself so why no mention of counseling or a support group? I appreciate Aldonza being able to share and Don Antonio's grief and anger losing his sister needlessly because of Severiano's attack but Don Antonio was not raped. Cannot they write a female character into the story with which she can share?

I wanted Emanuel to spit into Severiano's face again and again.

Cris threw mamma down them stairs, I know an accident, but would think he'd be more remorseful.

Who's idea was it to carry a woman with a spine injury all the way back up them stairs yet decide to have an X Ray machine home delivered?

Boo friggin hoo Mari, even a long tailed cat will run from a rocking chair

Thank you so much, hellashelle, for this awesome recap.

I have to tell you that the CC were totally screwed up last night. I have said before that, because of my hearing, I am totally dependent on the Spanish CC's to have any hope of understanding what is going on. Last night, in what was a pivotal episode, they had the worst CC's EVER! So because of this, your recap was very important to me.

I am constantly amazed at the ability of tn docs to diagnose a multiplicity of things using only the things they can carry in their doctor bag as they make house calls to the rich and famous.

I am enjoying seeing Sev conspicuously fall in the eyes of all around him. To have his son, the only person in the world whose esteem he cherishes, say the things Cris did last night must sear his tiny, poorly formed soul.

Cande lying in bed bemoaning her relationship with Cris was just too delicious.

I like how we are getting little anvils as the evil deeds gradually surface rather than letting everything wait until the last episode.

Val just can't be a human being, can she? Your portrayal of her having scales is right on target. She should be heading for the hills, what with everything crumbling around her, but her awful mindset just won't let her. She is the person who got that last seat on the Titanic due to a cancelation, and I am snickering at her believing that she still has the upper hand.

Eman's reaction was not what I would have expected or wished for. Surely, he knew that there was a tortured reason for his background, and he always professed that he wanted to know all the dirty details. Well, here they are!

The most reasonable voice in town continues to be PJ. When he finally leaves, will the town fall into utter disarray?

I am not usually a proponent of asking a priest anything about dating, marriage, or sexual relationships, for the simple reason that anything they know, by definition, has to come out of a book. PJ is the sole exception to this rule, and he gave Silvia caring and sound advice about her possible relationship with Tomas.

Thanks again, hellashelle. Your recap really made a difference for me.

David

Many thanks hellashelle. You got a doozy of an episode. The double eps are a PITA. I loved your screenshots and the vocabulary.

I truly feared for Solitario last night.

And Lord knows why it’s here and now and with Don Antonio, but she says the words: "Severiano raped me."

This part just made me scratch me head. But I guess since she had told Lola and Don Antonio is such a good soul she just seemed to know he was someone she could trust. I'll just adjust my beanie and move on.

Hellashelle- You did this super packed, double episode, more than.justice. Wow, and wow! Great episode, wonderful recap.

David- Could the ccs have been screwed up because Uni decided last minute to combine two episodes into one?

I went looking for the full episodes, and Uni seems to have done a sweep of YouTube. But I did see most of the first episode. They cut out much of the party, where all the folks inside were having a great time. This includes Tomas, who was brought by Silvia after she delivered his protection order to him (now he can stop hiding in the garage). Tomas was making her and everyone laugh with his jokes. Renato glared at them with jealousy in his eyes. Pato noticed.

Mel and Dominga made up. She told him about his sleep talking. He realized it was Marga who was his friend's lady love who he sent the candy house too. He explains he had been so secretive lately because he was planning this thing to get Eman out of jail, and he had met with the lawyers (Ren) to see if it would work. He knew Dom wouldn't have approved. They laugh about it all and kiss and make up.

After the reveal, one of the places Eman goes to is the spot he found Rob, and likely prevented her from.jumping. He remembers the encounter, and slumps over crying for the mother her never got the chance to know in the same place he found her weeping.

After Cande tells Dom the truth about Eman, Dom rips into her for having done something so despicable and leaves Cande babbling to herself. It was good to see.

Loved how many times Sever got told off and foiled this episode. I too wish Eman had spit in his face a few more times. It's a good thing Cris slept in the stables, otherwise poor Solitario would be no more.

I know the shock and pain will take time to assimilate, but I really hope that Eman accepts Al and Cris as his siblings soon. This is just making an already painful situation even more so, when the three of them could actually be getting some joy out of their newly discovered relationship.

Thank you for the added scenes, Vivi. I would have liked to have seen those.

This comment has been removed by the author.

Morning everyone!
Thanks Diva! I wanted to post earlier, but my very brain was cara de impactada and I wanted to do the episode justice. I think you picked the best title: An epic episode of epicness!

Thanks David! I was tempted to make the recap even longer because it was so good, I wanted to do a whole play-by-play! I'm sorry your cc's were screwed up (I think Vivi's right, and it's because the episode is smooshed. I couldn't get any captions on uvideos for it), but I'm glad I could help out!

Thanks Sara! Yeah, I went a little crazy once I figured out how to do screenshots. Took me a ridiculous amount of time to get the one of Furious Eman! I don't know why Al purged with Don A, but it's the closest thing she's gotten to a support group, so I'm all for it. I think once she broke the dam by telling Lola, she really cracked into her fear and the pressure to keep it a secret. Plus, maybe now that she knows the kind of harm Sev has done to his own child, she realizes that she doesn't have to carry another secret for that demonic beast.

Thanks Vivi! Thank you for tracking down the original episode! They kept in great stuff, but I didn't realize they'd left out great stuff too: Mel and Dom making up, Dom giving Cande a verbal smackdown, Eman visiting That Spot (I wondered about that) and even the Silvia and Tomas scenes -- all sound great. I don't know who Eman's going to have to talk to in order to believe Al and Cris, but I imagine whatever ire he has toward them will shift handily over to Adelina when he finds out about her role in all of this.

Vivi, I agree with Sara. Those deleted scenes would have added so much texture and meaning to the plot development. Thanks for sharing your synopsis with us.

David

Last night sure gave us an emotional punch! Hellashelle, your recap hit all the right notes on the left on the screen events and all the flying accusations and tirades. I feel tired again just reading. Exhausting viewing last night.

Worst of it...humans are upsetting, but when Sev walked over to Solitario's stall last night I went ballistic. My neighbors now think me certifiable, but they learned a few new ways to use certain terms and name-calling. Thank the heavens the writers didn't go there.

As for E-man, I had thought this was exactly the way he would take the news. It may not have been too bad of a reaction, but the fact his father is the one man who has treated him like scum and wanted to lock him away and throw away the key, and kill that beautiful animal...that's a horrendous piece of news to take. Someone will need to get through to him...I would like it to be PJ, but please dear lord, don't have it be Lola. Any bets???

And boys and girls, Cris' spine grew three sizes that day!!! The look he gave Dom when he walked out of Cande's room was priceless. (Editors: that was the stupidest editing job, one minute bottom of the stairs, next they are all fussing on her upstairs. What? And I guess no ambulance service in SL?) Cande needs more of an anvil than falling down stairs...fully admits she ruined someone's life so her son could make sure to not have to share his inheritance. Wow, what a woman.

So now we know Don A's story. Poignant scene, and thank goodness for subtitles translations. I couldn't get a word out from behind his hand, but still nicely done.

Anyone else a little put off by Adelina's sort of holier than thou attitude with Allie and even in some of her conversation with PJ? As tofie and Sara pointed out yesterday, she has the Cande syndrome. I did what I did because I made the decisions based on what only I thought was right. And you should understand and immediately forgive me. Only Hum seemed to be the one who felt the true regret of his choices...and is now truly a broken man. Wonder what happens now?

Who cares about Mari?? They left that in?? And, Vivi, crap they left out Eman remembering Rob????I was actually waiting for that and was sad that didn't happen...argh!!!

Daisynjay

Let me join you, Daisynjay. I was also really looking forward to a scene where Eman remembered his one encounter with Roberta and they cut that?! I'm really angry about that and more than a little disappointed.

Man, guys. Everytime Eman denied the truth last night I could practically feel him saying "It can't be true. If it's true...then all those YEARS of loneliness and suffering, all those times I felt lost and alone, like a beggar looking for scraps, all of them were for NOTHING?! This didn't just happen to me, it wasn't just bad luck: the "grown ups" in my life--my "protector" that I've always been so grateful to, the much respected Don Severiano and Senora Candela--they did this to me. Deliberately." I mean, wow. I wasn't expecting him to react the way he did, but as soon as he said "no" to Aldonza with that horrified look on his face, I was like, wow. I get it now. This does make sense. Between that, and the talk of suicides, I'm a little concerned about how Adelina's going to react to his rejection.

DnJ, I took not of Adelina's haughty attitude toward Aldonza and she's pulled this before.

I hate what was done to Emanuel but in retrospect he may not have survived to adulthood without Humberto. Humberto does love Emanuel and I believe truly remorseful and isn't wanting pity or offering lame excuses, which is more than I can say for Adelina. Severiano would have run the child down with his truck and be done with it. Humberto was the only person in town (well other than PJ), when everyone was down on the guy and ran him out of town, that didn't believe the lies and lent a sympathetic ear and showed the boy some love.

Hi Daisy! Yeah, it was such a wild, packed episode! As for bets, I imagine PJ will play a big role, but I do think they'll use it to mend fences between him and Lola as well (honestly, it'd be more Missed Opportunity type writing on their part if they didn't. They've already done that so much with A/C). I think that might be part of why they left in the Mari scene (that and her, sigh, seemingly inevitable redemption. Blech.)

Cris' spine grew three sizes that day!!! Lol, I deleted a line almost exactly like this from my recap last night! Go Cris! Way to stand your ground this time!

On Adelina - YES. I don't even hate her and I was like, are you serious lady? Just hang your head and pray. I think when Eman confronts her she's going to have a moment like Vero and Lola did, a "when you put it like that..." moment. That's why I'm a little worried she'll take herself out. Though, she's very Catholic, so nevm, prob not.

I took not of, uh, I too noticed and cannot blame it on my IPad

Just found a bit more. Al meets up with Vero in her search to Eman. Vero tells Al how sad and strange her uncle has been acting since they got to SL and it has something to do with Sever. Al gets thoughtful. Vero tells Al where she can find Antonio. Then we later go to the scene we saw where she opens up to him at the cafe.

Tofie- Actually Aldonza was his biggest supporter and told everyone what they said about Eman couldn't be true. She's the only one who called Mari out as a liar.

Thanks again, Vivi. Now that scene where Aldonza opens up to Sev doesn't seem so out of no where.

And not that I'm bitter or anything, but they couldn't edit TSTSNBN? Thanks, Univision.

Ok. I sped through the rest of cap 118. Eman is indeed now in the bar drinking away his sorrows. Mari had a flashback to Vero's words and Eman's words to her when he came yelling outside her door after her big lie. She's starting to feel regrets. Flavia tells Joaquin about Gonzalo. He tells her to forget about him, because it's not happening, and go to the doctor. Padre tells Lola she can't marry Pato when she's still in love with Eman, but what's more important now is her being there for Eman as a friend. Pato tells Silvia about Ren being jealous.

Morning Tofie!

I was definitely thinking of you during the Adelina scenes. You have a point about Hum being the only thing standing between Eman and total destruction. Maybe they should've played up Sev's potential to get homicidal with the baby. Monday night's episode was the first time I really got a sense of how/why he treats Eman as he does: I didn't realize before that he blames Eman for his life imploding. The same way I've been speculating about Adelina associating Eman with Sev and her sister's downfall, Sev's been thinking of Eman as the reason he lost his picture perfect life, with his wife, his lover and his arm. If they want(ed) to redeem Hum, a quick scene of Sev almost smothering newborn E in Hum's presence would've gone a long way.

Then again, TNs are notorious for having "adopted" kids who's parents/guardians make them feel very loved. That was not the case with Hum and E. Of course, judging by Valeria, he's just not a good dad.

I'm not willing to give Humberto a pass but he has taken a personal inventory of himself and hates what he sees. He is self aware now even admitting he did this all for a respected position in SL and was so not worth it. He could have protected Emanuel from Pru and Val and he didn't, he could have been an engaged father, instead Emanuel felt always alone in the world. I'm not so sure however, had he told Emanuel or the rest of the community, he would have fared any better. Simply being Roberta's son would have him run out of town and no way Adelina would have raised Severiano's child and Roberta would have used him as a pawn in attempts to remain close to Severiano, no different than Val's plans for Cris.

Thanks Vivi!

Wow, those seem like really important scenes for all of the subplots. I wonder why they combined these two episodes at all, yet gave us the full episodes of the Great Elope-ish Debacle.

Roberta would have used him as a pawn in attempts to remain close to Severiano That was definitely her original plan, but after Sev raped Aldonza, she was ready to kill him herself. Don't know how she would've reacted had Eman been in her life at the time.

no way Adelina would have raised Severiano's child I also noted that yesterday, but she was completely ready to take Lola in, so there definitely seems to be something about his being a boy child vs. a girl child that messes her up, which we also discussed in a post some weeks ago. I remember thinking then that his drinking was a big deal for her. She referenced it many times, NOT compassionately. I think in that sense, he reminds her of the worst parts of Sev AND Rob in a way that Lola doesn't.

Wow...what a recap! And with pictures! You brought back all the tension and excitement of last night's smushed episode (so glad for your additions Vivi). Laughed at your "shaken by the words but not stirred to anything good" and "Score One for Uber Spine!"

David, the captions WERE off last night. At first non-existent and then late all the way through. It was either listen or read, but no way could you do both at once.

In spite of the poor editing, I marveled last night at the skill of the actors. Severiano looked so pathetic last night, slumped over his desk. Takes real skill to make a monster evoke pity (however transient). And Cande's hysteria, Humberto's searing regret, Don Antonio's pain and grief. All were effectively portrayed. The cast really brought it last night.

As did you, HelleShelle. Wonderful recap. Great screen shots. Terrific analysis of Adelina yesterday. You're all world, lady. Thanks.

Had Emanuel been used as a pawn by Roberta, Severiano may have attacked Emanuel and Aldonza spared. The whole dynamic would have changed.

Don't know, I see Lola like some cute, hyper puppy than nearly everyone would feed for awhile till she started peeing on the rug.

Hellashelle! My gosh, girl! This recap is just STELLAR! It SOARS! It GRABS you and takes you on the exciting magic carpet ride through the Genesis of Anvildom that we've all been waiting for. This is absolutely EXQUISITE!! It makes me want to look at the episode again! You did this great episode beyond justice, Amiga! Please, take a bow!

I'll get to comments in a minute, I just had to rave and thank you girl, this piece is SPECTACULAR!

Eman's reaction was gut-wrenching but I never expected him to think Aldonza and Cris knew all along. Obviously, I don't blame him for one iota of his rage. I only wished he'd beat the crap out of Sev. Spit in the face was good, though!

Hum's grief and resignation that he has killed the love and respect of the only person in life who really loved him was excellently portrayed. With the realization of what vacuous, whining, gold digging social climber(s) his wife and daughter are, he should probably be on suicide watch!

So Cande takes a tumble down the stairs of death! Now. It's stuff like THIS that we patio dwellers love to experience first time and unspoiled! In fact, episodes like this are why we fight tooth and nail to keep even a breath of upcoming events off these pages. WOW! Greater than that is, indeed, the survival of Cris's spine! YES!

Oh, I could go on and on but I want to read the take by my more analytical and articulate patio mates on last night's action. Before I go, here is a delicious paragraph that had me laughing and flicking with glee:

he then checks the voicemail, deletes the voicemail and bursts into flames.

Hellashelle! This is one Hell of a recap and I thank you so much for a spectacular read of an exciting episode.

Lila

Thanks JudyB! Yeah, I got excited when I figured out the screenshots. I should've gotten one of Eman asking himself why; he was gorgeous, shot up against the mountains, with the bright blue sky and this hair ruffled by the breeze!

Yes, parents took a serious hit last night! I was intrigued by the repetition of visuals and lines: The Father and Son scenes really jumped out at me: Cris's quiet "disgust and pity" towards Sev's retreating back vs. Eman's explosive "disgust and shame" confrontation with Humberto. I think those scenes really highlighted the differences in character of those four men: Cris has a quieter anger. He's only recently questioned his father, but now that he's seeing him for the low man that he is, there's just this sad, quiet disgust. He's taken the more reasonable lessons of self control from watching the cold veneer of his parents cover the boiling mess just beneath the surface. Maybe the confidence that comes from his parents' open and obvious pride in him has meant that he never questioned the fact that he deserves answers. Meanwhile, Sev takes the hit, but in his arrogance, doesn't face his son, and just keeps on going with his plans. Alternatively, Eman has been questioning Hum his entire life, and now that he sees the truth, he's all passionate rage. After a lifetime of maybe being afraid to push too hard, of prodding the surface gently looking for clues, trying not to make waves, now that he has the truth, he won't surpress his emotions anymore. And Hum faces Eman, no justifications, no arrogance. He really feels the depth of his betrayal on his conscience.

Hellashelle.....What can I say, wonderful recap, wish I could add more, but words fail me this morning. SIMPLY WONDEFUL The only thing I can add....love Pru's dress thingie. The woman has style.

Tofie, I too wondered, QTH, did they drag Cande up the stairs after her fall?

Thank you again, Hellashelle

Thanks Lila! Wow, your comment was pretty spectacular too! What praise, amgia, gracias! I agree about the spoilers. I was so impressed last night that I was only jarred out of my stunned stupor to stop the recording before it got to the previews. I do NOT want to know what happens until it happens!

Val is so annoying to me! It's ridiculous to me that if she finds Cris so unexciting, so eye-roll worthy, she would plot and manipulate so hard to keep him in her clutches just so that she could reign over this tiny town in the middle of nowhere. Not even a full day's right away, those horse thieves had never even heard of millionaire horse breeder, Sev Mendoza; is the empire really that important? She's been to Spain; why doesn't she set up shop in a bigger fish bowl?

Viv, thank you for that run down on the first of the smooshed episodes. I know it's their darned intellectual property but dangonnit for YT sweeps! Loved the description of the scene of Eman with Roberta. I am sorry they cut that but looks like they kept most of the best parts.

Hella, forgot to thank you for the screen caps, too. They totally added an extra level of understanding and sharing the emotional tenor of this great episode.

Lila

Hellashelle, this was truly amazing. Written with heart and humor. Superb.
What an episode! What a recap!

“Sidebar: I’m not ashamed to say, I’ve seen enough TNs to wonder if Sev will shoot that horse and Eman would have a physical reaction, all the way at El Santuario. I have no grip on reality anymore)”. You captured the danger, the fear and the essence of our feelings to perfection. Sev is shaken by the words, but not stirred to anything good was but one more excellent line.” “(No, Vile, you incredible waste of humanity. Not everyone is a vacuous, whining, gold digging social climber like you)” and “She howls in pain (Methinks Phantom Pain has jumped hosts and/or mutated” were others.

Your shot of Cris’ face as Cande tumbled down the stairs was so powerful.

While I am miffed at Adelina (along with most of the patio I suspect), leave it to the good Padre to utter “He thinks she’s being hard on her tia and reminds her that Ade's keeping this secret doesn’t undo all that she’s been or done for Aldonza or Roberta”. Again, Adelina was dead wrong but in her case, the good does outweigh the bad.

My heart went out to Don Antonio. What a terrible secret. A very small relief that he and Aldonza could tell their terrible stories and share their sorrow.

I’ve been hard on Hum, but softened a bit last night. He was guilty and hurt, looking as though his life was truly over. Tofie said it perfectly so bears repeating here “I'm not willing to give Humberto a pass but he has taken a personal inventory of himself and hates what he sees”. Yes.

On the other hand, I had not a speck of sympathy for Cande. Sometimes, we do reap what we sow. Kudos to Cris for not kowtowing and listening to his mother’s venomous spew.

Judy, I agree with you that the acting was stellar. Again. Truly a hallmark of this novela. Don Antonio/Jose touched my heart – he was riveting and totally believable.

Hellashelle, thank you for giving us much to ponder and savor this morning.

Diana

Although it was totally the wrong thing to do, the idea of Cande being dragged/carried up the stairs by Cris and Dom, while she was in excruciating pain, and likely making her injury worse, makes me smile with evil delight.

Ah, HellaShelle, it's so good to read this again while sipping my morning coffee and procrastinating :D

"PJ tells him Sev's horror spreads to many, but advises him to let God handle it." That sounded odd at first, but I guess Padre J is really taking the Bishop's advice to heart.

I also thought that Sev was going to go after Emmanuel when he woke up still half drunk and grabbed his gun. This guy is SO the poster boy for what gun safety DOESN'T look like. I'm glad he didn't manage to shoot anyone--not for lack of trying! I even thought that Cris might get shot during the struggle.

I felt sorry for Cris for having anything to do with Cande's fall, but glad that he's not letting her or Sev use it as blackmail material. What is wrong with these people that they kept insisting on calling Humberto instead of an ambulance? And then moving her upstairs?! I agree that something bad is going to happen with all the prescriptions for Cande. Val looked a little too interested.

I love your whole Val "bursts into flames," and "Look, devil spawn...."

I was confused about Don Antonio being the person that Aldonza opens up to, but after reading Vivi's description of the edited scene, I guess it makes more sense? I was just so relieved that she's starting to talk about it, that I'm willing to go with it. And maybe his telling her that his sister committed suicide will prompt her to get some help finally. Or has that ship sailed? Is this all about the healing power of justice/revenge/ultimas semanas?

Thank you for filling us in on all the scenes that were cut, Vivi!

I'm less worried about Adelina wanting to end her life than Humberto. And it felt unfair to me, that the guy who was the accomplice in all this is feeling so much guilt, while the "author" of the crimes still has the arrogance to think that the worst part of all this is that his deeds are coming to light. Not that I expected any remorse from him, but I'm not going to be happy if he gets off with a lighter anvil than Humberto's.

Lila and Hellashelle, I am with you on those horrible spoiler previews! Monday night's showed the fall down the stairs. Great going, Uni!

Back in a sec with the Candy House update!

The Adventures of the Candy House

Mystery Man (the original maker? purchaser?) puts the ring and a letter inside and gives it to...
Marga, but we don't know if she ever found the ring and/or letter. She gave it to...
Lola, so that Lola would be able to give Em something way better than Mari's stinky chocolates. She gave it to...
Emmanuel, who made the mistake of stashing it in his closet, where...
Pru got her hands on it, claiming it in the name of having to put up with Em in her house. But once everyone started looking for it, she took it over to...
Tomas, who was supposed to hide it, but instead put it up on Ebay. He hid it in his closet and when...
His mom came in to clean, she took it and gave it to...
The church for the raffle/fundraiser where...
Silvia and Renato jointly won it. But then Renato started acting all un-lawyerly, so Silvia gave it to...
Ray and Joaquin, where it might have stayed, had they not left it in the park after Ray fell, where...
Irma and Uriel found it and took it home, intending to have Padre J help them track down the real owner, except that...
Mari deputized herself to take it to Padre J, with a brief stop to torture Lola along the way, and dropped it off on…
Padre J's desk without any explanation, where he assumed that Candela had given it to him, so he gave it back to…
Cande and for whatever reason, she accepted it and took it home as, as Padre J put it, "a symbol of the love between their families." However, since Padre J so very publicly made her and Sev look like liars in front of the entire town, she gave it to…
Dominga when Dominga was cleaning Cande's room. Dominga gave it to...
Melesio as an anniversary present. He remembered that a friend of his made it to give to the girl he loved, who turns out to have been Marga.*

*Gracias to Vivi for this information, which was revealed in edited scenes.

Even if life with Roberta as a mother and Sever as a father would have been difficult, at least Eman would have known where he belonged in this world. He would have had siblings, and together they could have lamented their crappy/crazy parents and all their drama. He has gone through life feeling completely disconnected from everyone and not knowing where he fits. Aldonza and Cris survived having crazy parents. Why couldn't Eman have done the same. And none of the three would have had to face the crazy alone as an only child.

Cris survived because he was far away from them. If Emmanuel's existence hadn't been hidden, would Cris still have been sent away? Would there be a Cris-Aldonza relationship, or would they have felt too much like siblings? And would that necessarily be a bad thing? What would the story be if it weren't set in motion by all the lies surrounding Emmanuel? Because there would still be a story, it would just be a different one.

good points Vivi and Kat. I doubt there would be a Cris and Aldonza romance but then it is doubtful Severiano and Cande would have remained married if the whole town knew. Perhaps Roberta would have gotten her wish and moved Severiano in post divorce. Severiano would be Aldonza's stepdaddy.

Hellashelle. I especially appreciate your excellent recap because I was not able to watch this episode due to a family swimming\picnic party.

Vivi, thanks to you for hunting those missing scenes. It seems as though many important scenes were hacked away, especially E going to the place where he comforted Roberta.

I think that when you have kept a secret for a long time and you tell someone, the floodgates open and you just keep spilling. Also, it is often easier to get something off your chest with someone you do not know so well.

Well, I have appointments this afternoon and then must pack for another road trip, so I will be checking in when I can. Just want to say that it has been such a pleasure to share this tn with all of you smart, witty, insightful folks. Let's get together on the patio for a cocktail.

Kudos to the show for giving us 1) a gun struggle that didn't end in someone being shot in the gut and 2) a fall down the stairs that didn't end in paralysis. Not that Sev and Cande don't deserve those things, but it's nice to get some drama without those standby cliched moments.

Thanks emeraldrose! Yeah, the move up the stairs was ill advised. I can only assume they needed to get Cande out of the way so they could have the scene with Cris/Val/Sev and it would've been odd if the three of them had just left her at the foot of the stairs to powow.

Thanks Diana! Now that you mention Adelina's scene, it did highlight some maturity on Aldonza's part. She's mad, but she's not blind with anger, the way she has been in the past. She actually listened to PJ and took it to heart, though she still have appropriate weight to her own feelings.

Oh..I did get to see Candy's Scarlett O'Hara tumble down The Staircase of Doom in the advances on Monday night. I take it that her braids never moved and that Rhett was not there to scoop her up and dash up those stairs carrying her. Telenovekas love long, dangerous stairs.

Susanlynn, the shellac on the braids didn't even crack. They probably functioned as a crash helmet. I swear I had to time to say "Oh, no, they're arguing at the top of the stairs "and she still hadn't finished falling.

tofie, Sev would have been a very different guy married to Roberta. Not as much power. Not so high and mighty. But more bitter and angry--if that's even possible!

I meant "with her" not necessarily married to her. Though it would have meant he was back on "his" lands, so what would he have to be angry and bitter about? Nah, this is Sev we're talking about. He would have figured something out.

Typo: *gave, no have

Thank you susanlynn! Have fun with your real life friends! We'll toast to a happy and safe road trip for you here in cyberspace :)

Hi Diva! Thanks again. The possibilities for Sombra if the Sombra had come to light pre time jump are fascinating. So much depends on how they had handled the situation. What if cande had insisted on taking Eman altogether and somehow threatened Rob so she wouldn't do anything about it? What if they had taken Eman and moved to Spain and simply returned later, pretending Eman was Cande's child? What is Rob had kept him and they had simply denied that he was Sev's and said she was crazy? The whole town seemed to believe it at the time. What is Cande had divorced Sev? Would two heavy drinker parents without the Rivero money and the power and influence that brings produced a better Al and Eman than we see today? After all, a big part of Sev's attraction for Rob was the fact that he's big man on campus and a big part of Rob's attraction for Sev was sticking one to Raymundo and the "danger" of it all.

Oh that's right! I forget Ray was already dead. Sev has great business skills, so maybe he could've turned the farm into the miraculous cash cow Aldonza wants it to be. But in that time period in SL, having thrown over his wife for a widow whose husband died in mysterious circumstances and who was immediately pregnant? Rumours would definitely have flown. The workers may have been pissed, loyal as they were to Ray. The town may have boycotted the produce--who knows?

Ironically, then Cris and Aldonza might've had smaller than boulder sized obstacles.

Sever keeps bragging that the whole reason Las Animas is so lucrative is because of HIS business acumen. So he could very well have made Santuario into a cash cow. Joaquin also mention some time ago that part of the reason Santuario was failing was because of Sever's dirty tricks. Had Cande kicked him to the curb, and he hooked up with widow Roberta to get Santuario, he would have had his beloved land, and his beloved money too eventually, but he would not have had the respect of SL as he had with the sainted Cande at his side. I wouldn't have trusted him to not eventually become too handsy with his step-daughter Aldonza, just like he has no problem going after his "niece" Val. He probably would have molded Eman in his image and been proud of the boy for having the same affinity for raising horses as he does. He and Roberta would have fought all the time, and he might have eventually decided to get rid of the problem, permanently, by sinking her body in a coffin-table in el Santuario's falls. This scenario could provide it's own juicy tn. But at least Al and Eman would have had each other. Cande would have still sent Cris away to Spain to keep him away from Sever, as she did in this scenario. She would have been just as bitter about Roberta and her children. She would have acted just as piously, while being a hypocrite. She would still not be getting any, and remained bitterly single. The only difference is that she would play the martyred jilted wife, and she wouldn't be as rich because the horse business would falter without Sever.

Right on, Vivi. And give Emmanuel some extra support and the whole Lola-Em-Mari thing wouldn't have happened because he was so hungry for affection. With neither family being particularly rich, Val might have gone elsewhere to search for a rich husband. Assuming she was even around since Humberto might not have had the support he needed to start a practice or keep Prudencia in the manner to which she is accustomed. A whole different story. But yes, the same old Sev, trying to wheel and deal and take advantage of any woman he thinks he can without getting caught.

So much last night, I forgot about the "Oh S***" look from Val when she heard the news. Her brain has to be reeling to figure out how now she gets her mitts on CCC (Cash Cow Cris) now that there is another sibling, and Cris is ready to walk and throw it all away. Girl has some major manipulating to do.

It's hard to play the what if game thinking what E-man's life would have been like if he had been raised by Rob and Sev. Sev may not have still recognized him and threw cash at Rob to keep it quiet, and she may have settled for that. But what I think he was ultimately robbed of was the identity of who he was and the closeness of a sibling. Even if knowing he was part of Cris' world was still a secret and he thought Ray had been his father, he would have had sister who actually loved him. I think back to all those horrid dinner scenes at the start with Pru and Val just sniping and degrading him.

When we first suspected Eman as Rob/Sev's son, my fondest wish was he get the ranch, or they merge the two with Allie's and Cris and Eman run together. She can farm, they can raise horses. Make it so writers. You owe us.

And please make Flavia go to Gonzo and make them both go away, the little guy can get visitation. Hate this whole plot line.

Vivi, you are the best letting us know about the deleted scenes, but to be honest, I think my blood pressure grew three sizes today just thinking of all that which they snipped and cut. All of that was what we had been waiting for and made other scenes so better to understand. The last couple weeks when we were being mind-numbed by some of boring, stupid scenes we were stuck with and no snipping there. I HATE when they always do towards the end. And then hand the scissors to the interns to finish.

Daisynjay

"Make it so writers. You owe us." Big time, Daisynjay! And somebody needs to hide the scissors.

So help me, if Val tries to go after Emmanuel NOW, somehow coming to the mistaken conclusion that he'll be easier prey 'cause he had a crush on her for so long. Verbal evisceration awaits.

Or...is she seeing Sev as the safer option for getting her hands on All The Money? If Cris doesn't want it, and Sev isn't going to give it to Emmanuel, and pobre de Tia Cande is going to be taking all those drugs and oops, sometimes things just happen. (Seriously, though. Don't do that, writers.)

I'm curious about hoe Sev would've treated Aldonza. He may have gotten handsy, but he may also have hated her, being Ray's daughter. I want to know how that would've affected Eman's treatment of her. Also, if they were together, sev and Rob may have inadvertanetly spilled the beans about how Ray dies, long ago. and then what would've Aldonza have done.?

I have to wonder if Cande would've stayed or bailed on SL to go live in Spain with her son.

hellashelle- Can you imagine the drama of a situation where Al found out that her mother and molester step-father Sever had conspired to murder her bio father, and then taken his land! OMG! Talk about needing therapy.

No matter the circumstances, Cande would have always played her game of keep away with Cris-- punishing Sever by keeping him separated from his first-born son, and trying desperately to keep Cris separated from Rob and her kids. Cris would have been just as confused and naive about the real deal, as he is now.

I think either Roberta would cheat on Severiano or he on her, then rub it in each others face, repeat. Totally dysfunctional relationship and Aldonza and Emanuel the casualties or Severiano outright kills Roberta as I'm sure he hoped he had done before Ray crashed his truck into the barn.

Diva - LOL, option 2 is what I've been rolling around in my mind since last night. That and Sev just killing Cande off via OD (though he'd have to forge her signature on a new will first, I'm sure). I thought Option 1 when Val first got preggers, but Eman bailed on her after...ok, I can't remember the specific time he dropped her like a rotten potato, but I would hope he'll never be tempted again. In that case, his serious poverty would save him.

Vivi - Exactly! "Talk about needing therapy" is right! Not that that's too far from what he have now, but having had to deal with him for YEARS first? Whoa buddy!

With Don A's story about his sister, we have confirmation that Sev has always been a player and when he can't get what he wants, he takes it violently. Knowing, that actually committing to Rob would have never crossed his mind, just like it never did with Simonetta. Cande was HIS CCC (Cash Cow Cande). His power, the money, the ranch is all tied up with her. He would have never walked or threatened that, and we know if anyone threatened him, he isn't passed getting them out of his way to keep his perfect little world going.

Man, Kat, I hadn't thought about Val maybe now thinking she'll go after Cris 2.0, namely E-man to get her mitts on a possible inheritance. I would think she knows she burned that bridge. Now Sev, I can see her that money-hungry to think maybe with Cande out of the way she could worm her way in. Wouldn't do for Cande to "leave" Sev...does Val know that the purse strings actually reside with Cande and not Sev?

Daisynjay

Hellashelle you knocked it out of the ball park girl. Go head yo-self!!!!
The anvils are a fallin, the anvils are a fallin!!
Finally.
So there are 3 rapes we know of: Don antono's baby sis, aldonza, and simoneta (and then the bastardo murdered her later). Theres probably others we wont ever hear about.
Do you think that new spine will help cris move out of that house of hell and horrors?
hopefully he won't let that be braided 1 guilt him into staying. Val should have been standing nearby so candy could have grabbed her and they both could have went tumbling down the stairs,no more baby. But that's a whole different set an anvils right there. That larfo bomb is going to blow val the vile one out of the water. Theres going to be another murder.
With all those drugs and guns around there.
You said it hella " all those drugs around sev, that can't be good". It ain't. Or it isn't.:-)

Hellashelle--Just finished the recap--Astonishing! You brought the episode to life all over again. Will be back after I read the comments. Don Antonio is a P.J. without the collar. He's a good father-figure to be able to talk to, although I was super surprised at how easy it was for Aldonza to admit to the rape without crumbling. I guess she's been living with the memory for such a long time that the sharper images have faded a bit.

P.S. You don't like Val, do you? I refer to: "(No, Vile, you incredible waste of humanity. Not everyone is a vacuous, whining, gold digging social climber like you.)"

Nina--just caught your comment on the 3 rapes on my way to the top. He also raped that poor call girl, or at least roughed her up. Can't remember now if he was able to complete the attack.

Gosh, I knew there would be a ton of comments so far, but yikes.

Thank you Hellashelle, you outdid yourself with this one. I'm glad you figured out how to do the screen shots, that really add to the story.

I actually felt sorry for Humberto. The actor did a great job of expressing his anguish, and his face really looked like he was crying for real, not just made to look like it.

I'm not surprised at all by Eman's reaction. He definitely would have a hard time trusting anyone right now, even those who he always has trusted in the past.

The ccs were off for me too, but then I watched it on Hulu+, $7.99/month, and the ccs were fine on it. Worth every penny.

I'm angry about what they are cutting out too. And I'm with Daisynjay? who said we had some many episodes of boring dragging out, why couldn't they have cut then? They could have cut every scene with Gonzalo and Flavia, and we wouldn't have missed a beat. They could have cut every one of Cande's screaming fits down to one minute each, and there would have been plenty of time for the scenes they cut.

You know cathyx, I'm still convinced the actress that plays Flavia is related or knows someone responsible for this TN because otherwise I'm flummoxed as to how the she is convincing as someone all these men fell for and why we spend sooo much time on what really is HER story, not really Joaquin's. Once Ade kicked him to the curb, they haven't given him much except this whole will he won't he with Flavia. The fact they are playing as if she is supposed to be someone we feel sorry for or would even remotely accept with Gonzo or Joaquin is insulting to viewerville.

I love Hulu+ as well. I signed up back in the Amor Bravia days because it was the only way I could watch and keep up. Big fan!!

hellashelle - Oh. Wow. Just. Wow. You won the lottery with this episode and your recap. Fantastic recap!!! Thank you. And I will heed your advice and make time to watch this one. (squee!)

Hellashelle, late to the party, adding my big BIG applause to the recap. It was a wild ride of an episode and you more than did it justice. Thank you so much!

DAVID, I also watch with Spanish captions (my hearing not so good sometimes) and when it's off-sync by 30 seconds, it gets really annoying. I missed a lot of dialogue last night so the recap was even more appreciated than usual.

VIVI--add my thanks for your fill-in of what was left on the cutting-room floor. Would love to have seen E-man's moment of remembering his mom...

I really liked how Mel quickly checked Jacinto to make sure he was okay after being slashed by Sev's crop. It looked almost like something the actor playing Melesio did instinctively...like he would have in real life. It was a sweet moment.

Cande--shrieking, hurling herself around and emptying stuff out of Cris' suitcase as fast as he throws it in--I was getting the total Greek Tragedy vibe from her, it was great!

On to the show! (Okay it's still lunchtime here on the West Coast, but still...)

Vivi--Thanks for the omitted scenes. I wonder how many scenes in the second episode were treated with scissors.

We've complained and complained about this tendency of late in other tns. Why doesn't Uni watch the whole thing when they contract to broadcast it, decide how many episodes to show and apply the scissors at the beginning. Sheesh, is that so hard? We would have been saved the whole Gonzo-Jock-Flavia thing and a whole lot of Mari (maybe).

The deleted scenes explain a lot. Here I've been blaming the choppiness of poor writing, directing and editing on MaPat and Televisa. It's Uni's fault and what do they know about storytelling?

It's bad enough to have the Reader's Digest version of these telenovelas when they come out as DVDs. They should offer two options--the entire series or the abridged. Of course, there would only be a handful of buyers for the entire series in 90% of what they offer. But there are several classics I would shell out pesos for. And speaking of Amor Real, Pasion and Alborada in particular, how would those stars have reacted to having their stories chopped up before they ever got to the screen. I'm sorry, proprietary rights be damned. If I were an actor, I wouldn't want my hard work diminished by backroom scissor wielders. Leave it in the hands of the production crew and the producer for the finished product.

OK, rant over. The comments were all brilliant. Nothing for me to add.

Well, rant not quite over. Uni owes it to US, their viewers in the US, that this version has been edited for the sake of .....whatever they want to make up for the reason.

Rant on, hermana! Looneyvision does not give a rat's patootie about our feelings or opinions when it comes to las tijeras.

At least some good things are happening to the good people in this TN. I'm getting "good people being dumped on by bad people" overload in Yo No Creo in Los Hombres since it started.

Anita, you are SO RIGHT about the editing. I was just thinking this same thing today! Why do they show these here in the US? What's the purpose? What role does the viewer play? If we don't matter, then just keep the damned things and show frickin' infomercials 20 hours a day!

Well, what I see of these tns I like, so if they delete anything, I don't mind, I like what I see.
Cause sometimes they are the only good thing on tv, cause on American tv in the summer theres just reruns. And a few new shows.
