TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS 3, TIERRA DE REYES, AVENIDA BRASIL, etc – week of July 6, 2015

Hello from Prague. Thanks to Sneaky Two Shoes, Span Prof and everyone for keeping me up to date on what is happening on Tierra while I'm in Europe. Here is your post for this week. Enjoy!

You're welcome, Jean! It was very nice of you to mention it.

Tierra. Well, the actor playing Jose Antonio did a nice job of chewing up the scenery. At least now we know a lot more about what he was doing in Mexico in the first place. And from tomorrow's preview, it looks as if the inept villain Leonardo is going to have a couple of inept helpers. And was I right that Rocio is now pregnant with Cabrera's child?

Tierra. Valverde now has a triple threat against him: (1) The Gallardo brothers; Flavio and Samuel have discovered that he bribed the bank board of directors for his money laundering scheme; They seem to have foolishly deposited their bribe money in their accounts at that very bank; Arturo has inspected the development land this scheme is supposed to finance and found that it is not at all suitable for development. (2) Isadora has plans to make him accompany his latest arms shipment to Mexico personally so that she can kill him. (3) Fernández finally has iron-clad evidence that Valverde is a murderer. If it weren't so late in the series, I would be asking how Emilio is going to get out of these apuros. Also, unless don José Antonio dies heroically protecting his children, grandchildren and Soledad, I would add his name to the final wedding episode--possibly Verónica and Pablo too, but the list is getting a bit unwieldy. And doesn't Candelita have a lovely voice?

Tierra. Though I could swear I once saw a telenovela ending that had a quintuple wedding. :)

Tierra- SpanProf

Thank you for the comments. I agree that Candelita's voice is lovely as is everything else about her, so different
from her friend. AnonGringa

Tierra

yep looks like pretty much everybody will be pregnant/married by the end - which may not be a bad thing- they're all so pretty - wasn't it Shakespeare who wrote that beauty should reproduce/increase? Though I wish at least one of them had the common sense God gave a cat - that'd better their chances of survival.

Tierra. Thank goodness Rocio finally told the truth! And Leonardo confirmed his ineptitude by allying (and having sex with) Isadors--in Sofia's bathroom, no less! And they didn't clean up after themselves. Yuck

Tierra. I was impressed at how Flavio tracked down the board of directors bribery, though.

Tierra. By the way Soledad said that she had never loved and never could love anyone but one man, I'm pretty sure that she and Jose Antonio will have a happy ending--though maybe it's a false lead.

Gracias a dios rocio finally told pablo la verdad! Leo and isadora in sofias bathroom yuck!

Tierra

I third the thanks for Rocio finally, finally telling the truth
and third the yuck - if Sophia knew why her bathroom was all messed up she'd be even more wigged

Did anybody else notice Isadora sneaking around noiselessly in stiletto heels? - neat trick

Oh and thank goodness DF is way paranoid about the baby

Tierra. Yep, noticed those shoes! Very stylish but it must be hard to sneak around ranch land in them! Isadora must be exceptionally talented. Cayetana must have a death wish not to at least try to give Fernandez, whom she seems to trust, a call to see if there's any truth to the accusations against Beatriz Alcazar's administrator and housekeeper--now working for Leonardo, of course. 2 of the side-plots now seem to be pretty much resolved: (1) Veronica's parentage; (2) the Rocio-Pablo-Veronica-Cabrera relationship. Now only the most dangerous plot strands seem to remain!

GENERAL:
Jean, please label the post. It doesn't show up on the feed. It would be a shame to lose the week to Cyberspace.

AVENIDA
I'm still catching up with Avenida Brasil and have found the original recaps very helpful. I read ahead!!!! Then I know when to FF through all the antics not germane to the Carminha-Rita-Jorgito story. I did slow down long enough to watch Carlitos getting his come-uppance from the two "legitimate" wives, but don't like Alexia falling for his charms (what charms, as we've asked before).

Tierra. Well, I think we can add generosity and forgiveness to the themes of true love, family and justice. I loved how Pablo convinced Verónica to forgive Miranda for her attempted bribe of Rocío and to move on, and how Verónica on her own, seeing Rocío's terrible plight after being fired for protecting Sofía against the evil Matilde, forgave her and generously agreed that she too should find sanctuary in the Rancho Alcazar. However, it's hard to feel at all merciful toward Cayetana now. She used to be stubborn and intolerant, but now she's just downright mean, and deserves whatever happens to her. Though I wonder what exactly she heard of Eleazar's and Matilde's speculations about injecting don Felipe with arsenic and kidnapping Arturito.

Tierra. And once again Cousin Darío gave Verónica very sensible advice. Like Miranda, Verónica has now become a much better person. But really, Andrea? Stooping to Pati's level, presumably just for the sake of the occasional hypothetical male viewer who likes to watch "catfights"?

Tierra, (capitulos culminantes)

thanks SpanProf for these and all of your comments!

they really didn't do a good job of convincing us of Cayetana's susceptibility to Leo's charms, hanging out with her new BFF Patricia was just plain weird, and going against all of her daughter's, well maybe a little here since they have all been tainted with Gallardo, but not seeing the danger to her grandson, no way, maybe they should have shown us Leo slipping a little something in her tea,

speaking of which, love how when the girls get all riled up they calm down with a little tea, I would have thought after the Patricia smack down they would have grabbed some tequila, (I thought Andrea did a good job of explaining to Pati how things are in a language she would understand, we all know Pati, she will just run right over you if don't stop her)

just the right touch giving Jose back the last ten years of his life, but nothing lost when Soledad picked up the phone, nothing about a gran amor is ever fuzzy.

just hoping the brothers don't put her in the loony bin with Juanita, who's doing a bit of detective work on her on.

did they say Rocio is a nurse, bad decision firing her after how many years, why didn't Nieves jump in the car too, (did they leave Arturito behind), and I hope the General still has his gun.

and how many bedrooms does the Rancho Alcazar have, and confusing how the front door is someplace upstairs, and that no one even seems to remember Beatriz who made it possible for the brothers to leave behind their horrible block laying career.

not sure how the gun deal sting is going to work, or how Isadora's plan to use Jose to get back Arturo, but maybe that will happen tonight, but the bad guy always manages to get his hair wave lookin' good no matter how many times he gets roughed up.

So... I'm thinking Cayetana will have to take down Leo, or go down with him.

TELEMUNDO... rumors

¿Quién es quién? will begin filming in Miami 20 July 15, starring Danna Paola.

"¿Quién es quién?" es una nueva adaptación de la producción chilena "Amores de mercado", historia que ya produjo Telemundo en el año 2003 bajo el título "Amor descarado".

http://masquetelenovelas.blogspot.com.es/2015/07/danna-paola-confirma-de-viva-voz-su.html#more

Tierra. Deb. Though Beatriz's generous spirit seems to permeate everything at Rancho Alcázar, the only ones who seem to mention her are Samuel (when he explained to Andrea how much Beatriz had meant to him) and Cayetana, who considers her a victim of the Gallardos' manipulations. Rocío is indeed a nurse--maybe not doing hospital nursing because of having foreign credentials? And thanks for the Telemundo update!

Tierra. And I'll bet that Inspector Cabrera ends up "rescuing" Rocío. He seems to really love her and I'll wager that he'll be thrilled to be the father of her child.

Tierra

I just don't get it
I just don't get it
Treating the new housekeeper like family and threatening to fire your actual family (Caye didn't seem like she was joking) letting the "help" give orders to the bosses
I just don't get it, this seems to go against everything we've seen of Caye's personality and values before now. I can understand being gracious to Pati, Caye would look at it as something like charity to the less socially fortunate, but ungh taking the side of Matilde just doesn't make sense to me.

I did like when Vero finally called Sole mama, just about making her year, but didn't like that it was because she's mad at Miranda- that makes it seem like she's being nice to one to punish the other.

SpanProf - I'm betting that Caye didn't hear any of the plotting between the "help" I think she's just going to ask them what they're doing in Sophia's room and they'll say something like 'trying to clean up to mend fences'.

Tierra. No doubt. It would be a typical Tierra de Reyes tease!

If possible, may I please have the link to the old recaps of Avenida? Thank you.
Romy

Tierra. Wow! Just wow! A very important and busy episode! Valverde is finally dead, and Jose Antonio killed him fair and square! I was a little surprised that they didn't linger a bit longer on the body, especially given the attention they've devoted to scenes of torture, S&M, etc., but maybe the actor didn't like lying around on the ground covered in blood makeup. I must say the actors playing Nestor and Jose Antonio seemed to be having a good time chasing Valverde, playing cops and robbers. Unfortunately Julia is also dead, murdered by the mental institution doctor. I thought Malkovich and Nicholson were supposed to save her? The actress did a great death convulsion, though!

Tierra. More observations on tonight's episode. Dang! Neither Isadora nor Leonardo got shot, though it looked as if one or the other of them had been toward the beginning of the episode. Yep, Sneaky, you were right about Cayetana, Eleazar and Matilde. But at least Caye told them to leave Sofia's room and threw their own words back in their faces. And once again Leonardo is being stupid. When he brought all those lowlifes and petty criminals from El Palenque night club for a party at Rancho del Junco it looked as if Caye was finally getting a clue. Irina finally told Flavio that she was expecting a baby, and his reaction was incredibly sweet! Maybe now they'll both grow up and he'll stop trying to sabotage her career? One more plot thread tied up. Now all that is left are Leonardo, Isadora, the reunion of Jose Antonio with his family and Sole, possibly the pairing of Rocio and Cabrera, and finally, the answer to the murder of the del Juncos' father and Alma. So far pretty satisfying.

Tierra. I did think there'd be more of a hassle about Valverde's money laundering scheme, and resulting professional problems for Samuel. Maybe the producers shortened the number of planned episodes? Will all of Leonardo's financial machinations and embezzlements at the ranch come to light? Also, this time I hope that Eleazar and Matilde end up spending a long time in jail!

Tierra (ultimos capitulos)

love yer tidbits SpanProf!

did you say you missed some of the beginning? Ignacio del Junco (played by Ricardo Chávez, Sonya Smith's real life beau) was a walking/talking character who disliked Leo and physically threw him off the ranch, but shortly after, flying on business, Leo paid a mechanic to sabotage his jet, we saw it blow, (Nestor saw the tapes of the second mechanic messing with the jet and suspected foul play) and somehow Valverde was in on this as well, Valverde was laundering money at the racetrack and Leo was fixing the races for him.

Leo then returned to the ranch and dug up the info (but was seen by Pablo) that Ignacio had on him, and later killed the detective Ignacio had hired (am I right, anyone?)

Ignacio also had an apartment in Houston where he would meet with Alma, after his death and after Alma was cast out, she went there, Leo also knew of this place, I think Nestor looked at some of the security tapes from that building and saw Leo's car.

and there was another little thing early on, Sofia was raped by an unknown person which led to her marrying Leo (I forget why), Arturo patiently walked her out of that nightmare, that's why their love is so strong.

what are the odds that two people (Leo and Isadora) struggling with a gun, it goes off, and no one is hurt, could they do that again, could we give them a couple of more guns?

Tierra. Thanks, Deb! I did join this tn a bit late, and I'm happy to have the back story to what's happening now. It occurred to me that maybe the writers didn't focus more on Valverde's corpse so that if there's a sequel or they use the character in another telenovela they can "revive" him. The Telemundo authors could say that he appeared dead but that he had a henchman in the coroner's office who revived him and helped him to hide out until he could resurface a few years later. As I've said before, anything is possible in telenovela-land!

Tierra

ok so I know its a bit late but there was so much good stuff I wanted to do a recap anyway so
Friday 7/10 part 1

Ok so the “help” is in Sophie’s room plotting/looking for stuff to steal when Caye comes in and asks what they’re doing
‘Oh well Nieves was so upset about Rocio, so we’re cleaning up’
Caye reminds them that they just had this big fight about everybody staying where they belong and doing the job they were hired for and somebody got fired for it and you don’t belong in here, so they scram with a yes ma’am

All of Valverde’s guys flake out on him as per Isadora’s instructions, and so he’s got to suit up to deliver guns himself

On the other end Nestor and JA are suiting up for their own op – the trap they’ve set for Valverde

Irina overdoes it at the gym and just as Flavio is calling her lazy she passes out again much to Flavio’s dismay & fear.
Irina wakes up talking about her baby and even though Flavio is real thick and doesn’t get it, instead of keeping the secret she spells it out for him. Even when he seems to get it he’s in shock and Vero and Dario have to prompt him to embrace her. ‘you mean there could be a little dolly in there?’ ‘yes or a little curly head.’ (have I mentioned their nicknames before?)

Sam drives up on a loud motorbike and pisses off Caye, though Andrea seems into it, and even though moto’s scare her, and Caye forbids it, she’ll take a ride with him. Caye tries to get Andrea off the moto and when she can’t she calls for help from Leo’s new staff, to no avail and her rebellious daughter rides off on the back of a motorcycle with a lowlife – pretty much every mother’s nightmare.

Isadora, gun in hand, stalks Sophia horseback riding. She raises the gun and just as she pulls the trigger Leo tackles her. They fight over the gun and then have creepy sex

JA & Nestor stop Valverde’s SUV and call him by name to come out with his hands up. Valverde orders his driver to drive out of there even through or over the police if necessary and then jumps out and flees on foot. Nestor stops the SUV and catches the driver and JA pursues Valverde on foot.
Sophia, though unhurt is scared by the shot from an unknown direction and heads to Art for comfort. Art wants to go investigate but she doesn’t want him going out there when they don’t know who is lurking or where. (which reminds me, where is this abandoned cabin Isadora is lurking/staying? And are there just an unlimited supply of old abandoned cabins in this area?) Sophia call the cops to come check it out.

JA chases Valverde down and shoots the gun out of his hand- ‘time to settle accounts – you took the most precious things in life from me; my wife my time with my kids, everything’
V ’yeah well you were going to take my organization from me’
JA ‘its not the same- I could shoot you right now and call it self defense’
He shoots in the air –‘I won’t kill you, I’ll turn you in as is my duty’ -
Calls for backup but Valverde has another gun hidden on his ankle and gets it and JA has to shoot him in self defense anyway – Valverde is dead (probably)

Tierra

Part 2

Caye and DF discuss/argue about Andrea and her behavior
C: she’s out of control, how could she, she used to be the best of my daughters, ect.
DF: Stop trying to control your daughters, it never works anyway
New housekeeper comes in (I will call her hk from now on, because its shorter than Matilde and I’m lazy and also I don’t like her enough to use her name, I’m petty like that) and DF rolls out. Hk says – was I you I’d show those girls the door and lock it after them, and devote myself to being happy with my husband and making him happy. Your daughters would be better off out of the house and you could be happy with Leo. A man and a woman should live alone together and if you don’t get rid of the girls Leop will get tired of them and the fights and get tired of you and stray. (ok, who else thinks its totally out of character for Caye to take advice from one of her servants?)

Leo meanwhile is plotting w/Isadora new ways to ruin the lives of everybody they hate ect (I kind of spaced out here – sorry -just know it was sinister/inept)

Juana sneaks in to Julia’s room while nobody is looking. Julia asks for her daughter, Juana says she will help find her – she’ll ask Nestor he’s a cop he’ll help them, and she has a taco shop, she’ll give Julia a job they have to work to support their daughters – Lucia will just love you
The doctors and nurses come in and Juana has to hide – Julia keeps calling for her friend not to leave her and points out Juana’s hiding place – busted- Juana is bundled out and the doc gives Julia an injection and tells her to rest in peace – Julia starts seizing and then goes limp

Cabrera tells Sophia and Art they can’t find anyone (did you check the abandoned cabin?) – he doubts it was Isadora that took the shot – she’s smart, he doesn’t think she’d risk going there, but they’ll keep looking.

Rocio is complaining about the changes at RDJ since Sole left but Sole is a million miles away, still stuck on the phone call from JA. She and Rocio muse about who it could have been

JA explains to Nestor what happened w/Valverde who is dead now (probably) Nestor says its ok it was self defense. Now JA worries about letting his kids know he’s alive. Nestor reassures him that his kids’ll be thrilled and JA looks forward to being an abuelo

Vero goes home to talk to her mom. Miranda asks her forgiveness, Vero says you don’t have to, I talked to Pablo and he told me you apologized to him and were nice to him and that’s enough for me. Miranda tells her that as long as she’s happy with Pablo that’s enough for her too. They hug aww (wow Miranda has really made a turnaround in this story, she used to be worse than Caye)

In the RA kitchen, Rocio burns the food and then her hand, and Pablo rescues her.
Rocio wonders why he’s so nice to her after what she did and Pablo tells her he cares about her and forgives her and maybe it was his fault for making her his rebound girl – also he explains the stove to her

Tierra
part 3
Caye and Leo are having a special dinner for Leo’s ruffian friends, and even though Caye tries to remain unruffled she’s a little shaken when she sees the people Leo invited. The girls are straight up glaring especially Andrea at Pati who smirks at her and when Leo calls them family, says well we’re all sort of family now.
Andrea leads the exodus saying she feels a little hypocritical with all the nice nice and makes a very sarcastic apology for leaving to the ‘illustrious cultural elite of Houston’
When Caye tries to call her back, Sophia says no worries mama she’s just your daughter and we all know you don’t really care about us, we’re just in the way to you, and she leaves too but not before giving Nieves very explicit and specific instructions to watch over the baby till she comes back, and not let him out of her sight for a second under any circumstances. Nieves nods and looks scared
Irina is next – she puts down her champagne untouched saying the atmosphere in this house is so poisonous so might our drinks be
DF says I’m glad to know these are your real friends, daughter, the people you really care about, and peace out(not really, but kinda) and rolls off.

Apparently Julia is dead now (the character, not our commenter/recapper Julia who we hope nothing bad ever happens to) The doc tells the nurse the morgue will say it was a natural death, covers her face, and when the nurse leaves tells Julia now she won’t bother him anymore.
Juana watches all this in horror through the window and then sneaks in to cry over the body and says these people are murderers they killed you just like that. Poor Juana, she is clearly terrified.

Linda tells her cuz she has super spy skills just like in the movies and she snuck out w/o anybody seeing her to bring food and a change of clothes to Isadora who berates her for not bringing money. Linda says she couldn’t find any and just then Linda gets a call saying Valverde is dead. Isadora smiles

So, what do you think? Will Juana's family believe her? Will Leo's ruffian friends bring Caye to her senses? Will Valverde return from the dead?
Who knows - only the writers

Tierra. Excellent summary, Sneaky! If that cabin is one of the places where Valverde stores his guns, then it's on property that was part of the Gallardos' ranch, I believe. Juana's family will probably not believe her, but it wouldn't surprise me if Isadora has the doctor killed--which in this case would only be just! I'm thinking the ruffian friends will be a wake-up call, at least eventually, but as far as Valverde is concerned, who knows? There's an outside chance that Malkovich and Nicholson paid to have the doctor put Julia in a coma, in which case, of course, she could still be alive.

AVENIDA BRASIL

I'm on vacation and missing so much. Looking forward to a ten episode binge when I get home!
~ Wee Rita

Tierra

Thanks SpanProf - I've been noticing they never specify where these cabins are, I mean there's the one Sam was taken to by the henchies, twice, or is that the back room at El P? I can never tell. Then there's the one that burned down, so that's gone now, and if Isadora is staying in her dad's cabin now wouldn't the cops have searched there? Also it has to be close enough to RA/RDJ that Sophia would be horseback riding in the vicinity. I'm confused, but I know I'm overthinking it

Tierra. But even now the police don't seem to know where Valverde's arms stash is, and he did somehow steal Jose Antonio's ranch. Leonardo and Isadora now appear to be hanging out and having creepy sex in some of the outbuildings on the Rancho del Junco. But yeah, probably all of this is overthinking and ignoring Isadora's practically supernatural powers of avoiding capture.

AVENIDA

Wee Rita, enjoy your avenida brasil marathon when you come back, lots of juicy revelations!

I don't know how Nina doesn't crack under the pressure of the different personas and lies she gives! And it always makes me nervous when max starts pawing at her, dude has no limits.

AVENIDA BRASIL
@ROMY--You are already in the right place to look for the old Ave. B. recaps. They began, hit 'n miss on Jan. 13, 2014, right here in Telemundo. I'm up to Feb. 10, 2014. We are currently around Feb. 17, 2014 in the current broadcast of the story. Our dear Mads (RIP) was holding down the fort and her voice comes through loud and clear.

AVE. B.
Again--For Romy: They started out with 2-hr. episodes, that's why it seems illogical that only a month of episodes go by in the originals and we've been watching 1-hr episodes for weeks now.

Thanks @Anita. I remember that now.

Tierra. One more remote possibility. Valverde may have been badly wounded but not killed, and in return for turning state's evidence, he'll be granted life without parole instead of the death penalty. After all, most of his crimes were committed in Texas! If his confederates knew he was about to turn them in, they'd have him killed. The major reparo to that is that he'd be perfectly capable of running hi crime empire from prison.

Hi all, this post is now more than 7 days old and all comments are going into moderation. I'll keep an eye out and release them, but please give me time to do that! (SpanProf, I'm going to delete the duplicates, I hope that's ok.)

Yep, that's fine. Our internet has been a little glitchy today and I just assumed it was a malfunction.
