Yo No Creo en los Hombres #10 Lunes 7/27/15

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to get up. Heat makes it worse, too. You can turn on a computer but you can't always make it ovey your orders. Be back later with stuff to chew on.

Dashiell

Some, anyway.  Here is the first third:

Chapter 10: Bad Feelings

Part 1

While Fermin the Vermin was being hit by a getaway car, Maria Dolores was fading fast. Daniel the Weasel had plied her with booze until she was lying under him on the couch in the hunting cottage. He was the hunter and she was his prey. A cell phone rang. Maria Dolores recognized it as hers. It was Clara letting her know that Julian had been arrested. He was accused of killing Rudolfo. She said not to call Max and she would be right there. Daniel could not talk her out of that. Thank Somebody.

Fermin the Vermin was lying in the street. Honoria was crying. The loser didn't deserve that.

Ivana and Susanna arrived at the Santibanez mansion. Úrsula was greeting them at the front door. Daniel rushed Maria Dolores out to his car. He said he didn't want “his boss” to see them. Interesting that in his language the word for “boss” also could mean “mother.”

Honoria continued to cry over Fermin the Vermin. Some women don't learn.

Alma was telling Max about Leonardo and his girlfriend. Max realized that she was describing Maria Dolores' little sister and that the same Isela would be the new secretary in his office. Alma was Real People, not a snob.

The brothers talked about the ladies. Leonardo suggested they have a party where they could all meet. Max told his brother that wouldn't be likely. Maria Dolores' boyfriend didn't trust him and he hadn't met him yet. Or didn't think he had. Leonardo was determined that this would have to change.

At Daniel the Weasel's cushy home, his mother asked about his whereabouts. The butler told her that he had left with his chick and wasn't answering his phone. Úrsula said he had to insist that he answer, stop fooling around, and return immediately because his fiancée was there. Apparently she had never learned about leading horses to water.

Ivana was gushing about the house and her room. She talked about not lounging around the pool when younger because of how she looked in a bathing suit. Her parents didn't want her at their parties because she didn't fit in. She talked about buying the mansion if Úrsula was willing to sell. She wasn't.

Max was having wine and cheese with Maleny. Who kept talking about them getting married. Saved by his cell, Max apologized and said he would have to leave.

At the police station Isela waited with Orlando and Ari. Max arrived to take care of things, followed shortly by Maria Dolores and her troll, Daniel.

Maria Dolores had passed out in Max's car on the way back to the police station. Daniel supported her as she entered. Max was surprised to see Daniel. Daniel was even more surprised to see Max.

Fermin the Vermin had been taken to the hospital. Honoria admitted to Esperanza that he was Julian's father. Julian didn't know because she was too ashamed to tell him. One could hardly blame her.
Esperanza asked whether she had mentioned the money she was stashing for Rudolfo and she admitted it. She cried, saying she had no idea he would tell anyone. It wasn't her fault. Esperanza looked at her with contempt and walked away without a word. Josefa kept Honoria from following her, saying to leave Esperanza alone. A doctor came out of the emergency room to tell Honoria that Fermin's condition was serious and they had to induce a coma. He was having an inflammation of what was left of his brain. Honoria cried. Josefa seemed to comfort her. We'll see how long that lasts.

Maria Dolores asked what Max was doing at the police station. He was there because Leonardo had called him. Maria Dolores passed out and Daniel caught her before she fell. He started directing her outside. Orlando asked Isela who that man was. She said it might be her boyfriend, but she didn't know. She did say this was odd because Maria Dolores didn't drink. Orlando had a bad feeling about it all.

Daniel put her back in the car on the passenger side in the front. Before he could get into the driver's side Max arrived and asked what this was about. Daniel shushed him and said that MD was a friend. Isela arrived and he asked who she was. She identified herself as MD's best friend and asked if he was driving her. When he said yes she said she would go with them. She got into the back seat before he could stop her. Max grabbed him and said they would have to talk. Daniel told him what was to worry, he was going to marry Ivana. He sneered as he opened the driver's side door and got inside. Max had a bad feeling.

Ari and Orlando talked about Ari's attempts at social climbing. Orlando didn't think it was right. Max came back in and gestured for them to come and talk.

Daniel had driven back to Maria Dolores' home. He put her on the bed. Isela wanted to call a doctor, but he didn't want her to. She said it was strange for Maria Dolores to be drinking and she looked as though she'd had a whole bottle. He talked her out of it, saying he would take care of Maria Dolores so she could go to the hospital to get Esperanza. He even guided her to the door. He closed and locked it behind her. He then decided to get his necrophile kicks in and started to unzip maria Dolores' dress. However, he wasn't going to get no satisfaction because Clara arrived before Isela got more than three feet from the door. They entered and he managed to zip up the front of Maria Dolores' dress before they got in. Foiled.

At the police station Max asked the two boys what happened. They told him that Fermin the Vermin had deliberately stepped in front of the car. There had been an argument but they didn't hear the details. He mentioned that there was a suspicion about the money with which Julian paid the rent on a business property. That was why he was suspected of killing Rudolfo.  Esperanza entered to say she knew.

Part 2

Honoria was feeling bad enough because Fermin the Vermin was the only witness who could finger the thieves who killed Rudolfo. Josefa wasn't making it any better by saying that Esperanza knew. Honoria accused her of taking Isela from her when she had been with Fermin. She threatened to tell Isela that Josefa was not her mother. She should have done that long ago. Josefa tried making nice with her, saying they needed to get Julian out of the slammer. She would get Isela to talk to Claudio Bustamante, who had power and influence.

Esperanza told Max that Fermin the Vermin was the sperm donor of Julian.

That night Ursula got on Daniel's case for not being there all day. Ivana had been very annoyed by the time she had gone off to bed. This was enough for Daniel to knock on Ivana's door to apologize to her. She turned on the light and he entered. In his own inimitable way as he turned the light back off, kissed her, and got into bed.

Max went home and sat on the couch. Before he could think about his frustrating day, Maleny came down the stairs. He hadn't expected her, but she had been lying in wait for him. He thought about Maria Dolores, thinking “She can't be like this.”

The following morning Ivana woke up feeling like Scarlett O'Hara after the drunken night with Rhett. Even if Daniel was no Clark Gable. She really needs an eye exam. At the same time Max was about to leave his apartment for the office when Daniel breezed in the door, saying he had to talk to him. He helped himself to the hair of the dog as Max tried to rip him a new one over sowing seeds of doubt in his client. He was also sure Daniel was taking advantage of her. Daniel laughed as he put the heavy glass on the coffee table. He accused Julian of jonesing for Maria Dolores. Maleny came down the stairs, dressed for the day and surprised to see her brother. He went over to kiss her in way that should have made Max wonder how many times they had been caught playing Doctor as kids. She shoved him away and he ranted about Max's accusation “...when he's fooling around with you and wants to boink the little seamstress, too.”

Max hit him with a perfect right cross, knocking him down to the floor.

Don't you show that disrespect to your sister again, imbecile,” he said.

Daniel got up and hit back, but not hard enough to knock Max down. Max shoved him back and Maleny began to panic. Maybe for real this time. She told Max to stop. He tried to let her know what a snake her brother was. He was two-timing both Ivana and Maria Dolores. Daniel tried to play the Privilege Card saying that he had an official fiancée and a little something on the side. That was normal, wasn't it? Maleny was clearly put out at the thought of him boinking “that girl,” but Daniel couldn't resist dragging Maria Dolores further down into mud she didn't belong in by talking about the sex they never had. It was to celebrate that Max had caused Ivana to fire Jacinto. Because she had been boinking him and he had rejected her. Maleny seemed to become unhinged at this horror, but Max realized that Daniel was playing them out of fear that they would rat him out to Ivana. To his shock, Maleny slapped him and said she was going to talk to Ivana to see about getting rid of Maria Dolores. And maybe him, too, from a different job. She picked up her purse and left.

Josefa spent her morning trying to play Isela. Isela couldn't understand why her bitch of a mother wanted her to get Claudio Bustamante to help Julian. “Because I can't see Honoria like this,” said Josefa. Was she actually sympathetic or was there something else? Who knows?

Ursula was berating Daniel on his cell as he was pulling into the driveway, demanding to know where he had been all night. When she told him she knew his bed hadn't been slept in he told her he had spent the night with Ivana and what a sacrifice it had been. Just like Maleny's. For once Ursula was at a loss for words.

Maria Dolores visited Julian in the police lockup. She refused to believe he could have killed her father; he was like a brother to her.

Max was just outside talking to Honoria. He assured her that Julian would not have to know the truth about Fermin the Vermin unless it was necessary. In the meantime he would need to know where the rent money had come from so they could tell this in court. That had to be pretty quick because they would take him to the Big House if they couldn't prove he didn't steal the money from Rudolfo.

Daniel was recruiting an accomplice while Ursula talked with Maleny on the phone. Maleny ratted her brother out to their mother about Maria Dolores. She was determined to make sure that Daniel didn't mess up their plans to marry for money.

Daniel confronted Max at the police station. He was sure Max would play stool pigeon with Maria Dolores. Max tried to tell him that Julian stole the money to pay for the dress that Maria Dolores stole.
He was slinging mud again, saying that Julian was trying to set up a base of operations for Maria Dolores and her mother to make copies of designs Maria Dolores was stealing from Ivana's company. Max almost looked like he was falling for it.

Honoria was trying to get Julian to spill the beans. He was afraid to admit to one crime to save himself from another. It was too dangerous.

Isela was about to engage in some danger of her own. She went to Claudio's office in a skirt that showed more leg than she had. The senior secretary explained to her that sometimes she would need to work on Sundays if there was a case. Her duties would include entering case documents into the computer. She would be working with Max; she said she didn't mind. Then when she sat at the desk she had to admit she knew nothing of computers.

Daniel was still at the police station with Maria Dolores. Max arrived to talk to her privately. She thanked him for coming but said she told her sister not to bother him. Daniel had lied to her again because she said “He told you what happened and what he said is true.” Max held back his temper saying, “Thanks. Now I know it's not in my interest to make any deals with a woman like you. But I will defend Julian because I believe he is innocent.” She told him they would find another lawyer. As he started backing off, Daniel grinned although he probably heard little of what was said.

He went outside to see Maleny staring in. She was there to check out the competition. He had to calm her down and lead her inside. Whatever was wrong with her was nothing that a padded cell and straitjacket wouldn't have helped. She stared for a moment at Maria Dolores until Daniel called Max's name. He was surprised to see Maleny there and – as Daniel planned – went to her and walked out with her. The pawns were being moved but how many moves was he thinking ahead?

Ivana talked to Gerry on the phone, gushing about the weekend. He realized that she had done the deed and asked for confirmation. She had planned to tell him in person, but answered that yes, she had.  Daniel had pulled out all the stops because he had met all her expectations.

Part 3

Maria Dolores wasn't happy at Max's statement. She was wondering what he meant. Daniel obviously was taking advantage of her inexperience with lawyers. He then introduced her to his accomplice, Victor Cadena, who came out of the building with Honoria. He played his role well.

Max was escorting Maleny to her car. She was giving him the third degree about his involvement in this situation. He was wondering why she needed to know about any of this. “Because I'm your fiancee! And because my brother thinks you have the hots for this woman!” “And you believe him after what he's done?” was Max's answer.

She suddenly looked like a frightened rabbit as she said he was right. She decided not to tell Ivana but to take this up with her mother, who would have some idea what to do. Max watched her expression. While he might not have realized it his own was saying he wanted to run. Fast.

Úrsula came out of the house just as Daniel pulled in and parked. She got him to admit to having initiated Ivana. She was alright about it, saying she preferred it to him consorting with sluts. She told him he wasn't leaving until he took care of his responsibilities. They argued sotto voce as she pulled him into the house.

Isela was on her way to church when Josefa came after her for the usual reason. She had to tell her that she had a real problem, which was that she didn't know computers. She almost dragged her inside, saying her stupidity wasn't going to stand in the way.

Ivana and Daniel returned from their walk around Bankruptcy Manor. Úrsula suggested they relax while dinner was being prepared. Daniel went off to do so while Ivana told Úrsula she wasn't comfortable in a bathing suit. Úrsula told her she would buy her a great one... that she would get to approve. So much for mother-in-law jokes.

Leonardo and Clara were walking into the church for Rudolfo's mass. He wondered what was up with Maria Dolores, Max and Daniel. They took their place in the pew with Esperanza and Maria Dolores. Honoria was sitting behind them. As the priest said the mass for Rudolfo she prayed that Julian would be saved and Fermin wouldn't die.

Daniel was swimming in the pool among the water lilies while Ivana came out in a new white robe. She was reluctant to take it off. He splashed water onto her until she did. The bathing suit could have been from the 1940s; it had a skirt. She jumped into the water and he pulled her below the surface until they swam to the floor of the pool. There was a smallish treasure chest down there from which he took out the engagement ring. He put it on her finger at the bottom and they kissed before breaking the surface again. She accepted his proposal without question. They kissed and as they swam to the end Úrsula was already there with filled champagne flutes. Even rich women can be naîve or Ivana would have thought this was creepy. This was also just in time for Max and Maleny's arrival. Úrsula gave them filled glasses and Maleny gushed at the news. Max put down his glass and walked back. She followed him. She had no idea that Daniel was going to propose to Ivana. Max was skanked that this entire thing had been planned and that Ivana was being played for a fool. Maleny said that Daniel was going to marry her; that wasn't a lie. As the others approached them with champagne Max stared at Daniel. In disbelief with a heavy dose of contempt.

Looking forward to it, Urban, and hope your computer can survive it. I know I'm burning up just thinking about all that Dan got away with this episode. At least he didn't get to have his way with drugged MD. Max needs to speak up and expose him!

Thanks, Vivi. My computer just protects itself by shutting down when it gets too hot but no matter how I set the update schedule on my virus program it does what it pleases. That heats up the computer the most and if I'm watching a video when this happens the video doesn't play well.

Please don't wait to comment. I am furious with this situation and I don't want discussion of this series to suffer because of the tardiness of any of my posts or their inferior quality because I can't do the same job under these conditions as I did with LQLVMR.

Oh no! Urban - I had a laptop that did the same thing. Drove me nuts! The fan was on the bottom (who thought up that design for a LAPtop?!) I helped when I got tilted it up to keep the bottom from touching another surface, but as soon as I could afford it, I got another one. The expense was worth my sanity.

In any case, I thank you in anticipation of what I know will be an awesome recap!

Vivi - I know right! I am boiling just thinking about it! On the other hand, I think this is my hook point. I've been struggling to get into YNCELH, but last night I was in deep! So glad he went beyond just lying about sleeping with her to telling Max all those lies about her work ethics; he really nailed his own coffin with that! Also, SO GLAD that Clara and Leo are dating, so this whole mess gets outed soon!

UA, just love your style and such an imagination. Thanks

"Daniel could not talk her out of that. Thank Somebody"

"He was having an inflammation of what was left of his brain"

So glad that Alma is good people, kinda pleasantly surprised

I appreciate the nuance of the disclosure by Ivana of her parents not wanting her to suit up at their pool and Ursela choosing a suit she was comfortable with for the staged proposal. I understand why Ivana responds to the trolls game.

I don't understand why MD responds to the troll's game and wished we knew more of how they met and when she fell in love with him. Not impressed with MD at all, Clara is so much smarter, MD is just....stupid.

I don't think MD's stupid, just trusting. She seems to take things at face value. My issue with her is that she doesn't seek out solutions. I don't like it that she was just going to take her firing laying down or that she swallowed Dan's story about the dress so willingly, but it's natural to give the people you love a wide cushion of credit.

Vivi provided a nice list of the decent folks on this TN in the last post. I agree there are a fair number of them, but I realized I just don't fully care about them yet. I so strongly dislike some of the characters while I'm kind of ambivalent at best about the good guys so far.

I do kind of like Julian, but everytime I see him I want to wash and cut all of the hair above his neck and put him in appropriately aged clothing; maybe they were going for this, but between the big sweaters and the shuffle, he looks like an old man. This is distracting to me because I feel like it just drags the vibrancy of his life towards the gray and I want it to be better, more colorful than that.

Naw, I think MD is stupid. There were only two people that had possession of the dress so it was either her mother or Daniel that could shed light. MD just accepted both accounts equally and inquired no further. Even after being drugged, the next day not one mention to the love of her life Dan about what happened. If she trust him to protect her why didn't he. At least Isela has some smarts and sees the slime.

Well the whole point of the roofie is that you don't remember what happened. As far as MD knows, she drank and passed out. She's apparently never had more than a swallow of church wine before, so maybe she thinks that her glass of champagne was enough to do her in. No hangover with a roofie. I remember thinking when they knocked me out for a surgical procedure that it was like being roofied because I was awake for the process but couldn't remember ANYTHING afterwards. This is why my mother insists that a family member be present for procedures like that.

Finally done. I don't have all the accent marks corrected, but figured you've all waited long enough.

Love it all nonetheless UA. Thanks

Only read the first paragraph, but what a gem! Thanks.

Was that you, UA or Dashiell doing this recap to us. Either way, it was direct, to the point and full of details Dashiell or you would have noticed. It was great, thank you.

Poor Ivana. Little did she know "they" didn't really do "the deed." It was Dan doing "the deed" to her since he couldn't masturbate with Maria Dolores (what else could it be if the woman is totally unresponsive). What a pervert.

I have such a hard time with this pervert's name, Daniel, it having belonged to my darling novio in Amor Bravio and Max--how many times have they used Max in recent tns, anyway--Max in Refugio, Max in TdA, Max in Quiero Amarte and now here. At least all the young Maxes have been decent guys. I think I'll refer to this Daniel as Dandy.

A good word toward Ivana--she didn't come right out and say she wanted to buy the Santibañez mansion. She was a little more polite about it, she told Ursula that if she EVER wanted to sell it, she would like to buy it. There might have been an ulterior motive with Susana's whispers in her mind about Dandy only wanting to marry her for her money. I think she was relieved when Ursula said no, she had no intentions of ever selling the place, there were too many memories tied up in this house.

I'm a bit confused by the locations. Is the place Dandy took Maria Dolores just a cottage behind their city house (with a pool)? Or is that lovely big house they gave us a screen shot of in entirely different place? Ursula and Dandy seemed to come and go very quickly...and I thought Ursula had showed up at her country house, rather than her house in town (which we've never seen the outside of), to find Dandy had been there with someone (after talking to the "facilitator").

Thank you for the reveal that Honoria is Isela's mother--indirectly. I completely missed that. It is important to the story. You'd think she would have just as much a proprietary interest in how Josefa is raising her as she does about Julian. Maybe she gave up Isela because Julian needed so much care and attention and couldn't afford another child. I guess we will find out the backstory.

I like that so much of what connects these folks is coming out so early in the tn.

I was touched by Ivana's sharing with Ursula of how she saw herself as a young girl and how her parents treated her as a social outcast just because of her size. Did they not assume she would be taking over the business some day? BTW, about that bathing suit--Ursula had already bought it. We only saw the skirt from behind. Trust me, 70 years later, they are still making suits like that for plus-size gals. It's hard to find a one-piece suit that isn't cut high around the crotch and hips in plus size. Just check out Land's End catalogs for the summer!!!!

Thanks so much, Urban! Wonderful job.

Let's look ate Dan's successes this episode:
- Got Max to doubt MD's honesty and integrity.
- Tricked MD into admitting to Max that she's a lying thief.
- Tricked MD, Julian, and Honaria to hire a crooked, no-good lawyer, instead of Max.
- Got Ivana to give up her virginity to him.
- Convinced Ivana to accept his marriage proposal.
- Distracted Max by making Maleny jealous and clingy.
- Recruited Maleny to help keep Max quiet about MD to Ivana.

The only thing he didn't succeed in was bedding/raping MD. Thank goodness!

I need some clarity on the conversation between Josefa and Honaria in the hospital. I didn't hear anything that implied that Isela was related to Honaria, just that she isn't Josefa's child. Did I miss something?

Julian, Julian, you are in SUCH BIG trouble. Ok, I'm not straight with this money.

Rodolfo keeps cash in a box at Julian and Honoria's apartment. We don't know how much is in it.

Rodolfo and Julian are victims of a "home invasion" to rob Rodolfo's money.

During the attack, Rodolfo is knifed and miraculously, alive, is taken to the hospital.

Rodolfo dies, but back home the ladies of the house clean everything up.

Police CSI don't arrive until after Rodolfo dies and at first suspect Maria Dolores.

Julian get cash (his own?) to do what? Did he feel guilty and wanted to replace what was stolen? Was it to get a lawyer for MD, which she didn't need in the end or to get that empty shop space for Espy and MD to start their own business. (Oh, you wretch, Dandy, to use this as part of your twisted conspiracy against what, keeping Max and MD from getting to know each other? You don't trust MD or you just didn't want Max to know you were playing around with both a rich chick and a poor one who work in the same place.)

Right about here is where I get lost. Julian and Honoria go to the apartment owner (as he was identified in an earlier comment). There is some discussion over cash and the deed to the apartment. Julian needs more cash now and Honoria insists on mortgaging the property? But, I thought Julian and Honoria gave the Man a check to get back the deed to the place.

Does Julian use some of this cash to get Orlando out of jail? He gives cash to MD to replace the very expensive imported material for Ivana's dress. (I agree--MD's too trusting AND stupid to swallow Dandy's tales.)

Then Julian wants the cash back, (this time for what?), MD can't give it all back, so he agrees to go into business with the crooked boss who owns nightclubs and is into gambling, money laundering, etc.

Where did this money go? HELP! We know he wasn't able to rent the shop for MD because Dandy got there first. So is he now swimming in cash?

Anyway, the way the police tell it, he's in deep doodoo over the cash and he can't tell where it came from or he's really in the muck.

Anita- The house they were in is the Cuernavaca house. Not their main house in the city. It's the Cuernavaca house where Ivana was staying with Ursala and Dan. It was the small cottage at the back of the Cuernavaca house where Dan was intending to rape MD. That's why it was such a nasty shock for him when he found out that mommy had set herself up in the main house and had invited Ivana for the weekend, to foil his plans. The Cuernavaca house is what Ivana offered to buy.

Anita- The only really important things to keep in mind about Julian's money loans/income are the last few steps. The initial loaning of money, including for the lawyer are moot, because it wasn't significant or he got it back. For example, the money he gave to Isela to give to MD for the lawyer went from Isela, to Max, to MD, to Josefa, to Isela, and back to Julian. The real issue is that Julian, in an effort to help MD and her mom get their own shop took the job with the shady club guys. He got a fat bonus from them; he offered the money for the shop space, but it was too late; then MD needed money for the material, so he gave her a part of the money for that; everyone else found out he took money from the mobsters and urged him to take the money back; they all realized he didn't have all the money anymore, since he gave part of it to MD; the mobsters 1) don't take partial payment, and 2) don't accept resignations from people they hire; now Julian is being accused of the murder and theft, but can't really point the finger at the mobsters for supplying his latest windfall.

I'm also confused about the maternity situation. I thought Honoria only threatened to tell Isela that she wasn't Josefa's child, no?

Thanks, Vivi--I knew I could count on you. All straight now. I missed that the country house is in Cuernavaca. I wonder if it's the same one they used in Amores Verdaderos. I'm pretty sure it was one of the two country houses used in Sortilegio for the grandfather and the evil doctor (to whom Azela Robinson's character was married to).

I won't try too hard to make sense of all this, will just sit back and enjoy MD's awakening love for Max and his for her. Dandy be damned!

Helleshelle--That's what I thought, too, that Isela is NOT Josefa's daughter and she wanted those who knew to keep quiet--I think that is only Honoria right now.

Regrettably, I watched and deleted the episode, so I can't go back now. Anyone else hear what Dashiell/UA heard? That Isela is Honoria's daughter?

Thank you Urban and I agree with Vivi on the fact that Dan got away with too much this episode. He literarly made my skin crawl , what a creep. This further demonstrates that Dan loves neither of the women , he just uses them for different things. But he actually thinks that he is in love with MD but his "love" is just a showcase of his unhinged obsessive personality. Not sure how long Ursula will last till she pulls the trigger with these two spoiled mofo's . Atleast Maly had some common sense in dumping Ari but Dan just won't quit. He even got away with marriage ugh.

I am glad that Vermin is now out , he had a real short time on screen before he croaked. Or will he live to take revenge? What does Honoria have to do with Isela, is she her birth mother? How does she know Josie's secret?

Julian acted very stupid dealing with the crooked boss even out of unrequited love . He got what he deserved. He should have been selling sandwiches to the children ( And to pretty women) .

I suppose Isela's being a non tech person is quite common in slumhood but not knowing how to use Word is quite baffling especially since computers in grade schools have turned mainstream. She does know how to use a smartphone though which is odd unless it's a Nokia. Hopefully the phone will live until the end without getting smashed.

Did anyone else read Dan's greeting Maleny at Max''s apartment as creepy? (He kissed her shoulder and she shoved him off). Maybe I've just been seeing things that aren't there since the first episode, but I have a STRONG suspicion that their sibling love is...um..strong.

And I am now totally intrigued by whatever it is that Maleny saw as a child that has her so freaked out around guns! Who got shot? Was it her dad? Who did the shooting?

I, too, found Ivana's story about the childbood pool parties to be a nice detail. In just a couple of sentences, we got a much clearer view of her relationship with her parents; so far I thought her resentment was towards the other people and influences in her life that compared her to her mother, but now I guess it started with her parents themselves.

I've got to hand it to Ursula: that was a creative proposal. I can't help but wonder if she staged it specifically because she did know about the pool/swimsuit issue and wanted to play Daniel off as not being bothered by her weigh by setting up that scene. (Also, didn't Ivana say she can't swim well? Because she seemed to be doing a great job if you ask me)

Josefa's so putrid I wasn't expecting her to care about Honoria, but she really seems to. I guess she does realize that there are only half a handful of people that really tolerate her, so she'd better take care with them.

Ditto on that short scene as Ivana explained why SHE had never been to Ursula's Cuernavaca house. There were many layers to that conversation. The first was that Ursula can't even remember young Ivana enough to know that she had never been to that house. Then there was the sad revelation of Ivana's parents being so embarrassed by their chubby/imperfect daughter that they never brought her to parties or social engagements. How very sad. Before I felt bad for her that she's an orphan, but now I'm glad her parents are dead. Now, if only she could get rid of that leech of an aunt too.

Honoria threatened to tell Isela Josefa is not her real mother. That is what lit a fire under Josefa.

Thanks UA for your recap despite the circumstances!

Out of all of Dan's crimes that he got away with yesterday what bothered me the most were hiring that new shady lawyer to "help" Julian and arranging the situation so MD tells Max "all that Daniel told you about me is true" with neither of them really knowing what the other was talking about.

Sooooo GLAD Isela jumped in the car without waiting for Dan's say so.

Laughed when Ari, Orlando, and Isela were grouped together at the PD station wondering what Max was doing there when he started coming over and Ari was like "shhhhhhh he's coming over, he's coming over...."

"Bankruptcy Manor" Ha!

"I guess she does realize that there are only half a handful of people that really tolerate her, so she'd better take care with them"

TRUTH!

I think I missed this in the first episode (still haven't seen it, just read the recap): How long has Ursula's family known Ivana's?

hellashelle- A long time. Since the grown kids were actually kids.

Thanks Urban, for a very telling recap.
Daniel is a snake. Hes moving the peices around on the chess board with ease. It will come back and bite him in the a**.

I really lije how this novela is portraying non-Barbie style women in great, ascertive roles.
I especially think Ivana has a lonely voice.

Great recap UA! Thank you very much. I hope the weather gets better for you, over here we had a cooler day today but I know the heat will come back.
