Lo Imperdonable #99 Fri 10/2/15 Hey Hey, We're the Monkeys – The Monkey Writers, that is.

My dear friend Elna June liked to imagine that monkeys had taken over the writers' room when there seemed no other explanation for what we were seeing on our screens:  The regulars go on holiday and the simians rule.  Well guess what?  They're BAAAAAACK!  Have a banana!

Party on dude!

She adds a little class to the Patio, no?

Margarita, La Diosa de la Cumbia is still singing Contigo el Amor, as Marty and Vero smooch and dance, all blissful smiles and romance.

Sure, he's a little awkward, but I'm still glad I picked him.

Magdalena and Botel are really moving!  [I guess those Arthur Murray lessons finally paid off!]

He's so cute.  I'd totally go out with him if he asked me.

Salma and Nicolás are grooving to the beat.  You can tell they'd love to get up there and show Margarita what they can do.

The only ones scowling are Emiliano and Virginia.

Put the camera down, NovelaMaven, or I'll put it where the sun don't shine!

Jorge looks on with his permafrost poker face and then turns away.

In Mina Escondida, Manny is anxious for news.

One of Manuel's henchmen tells him the shipment has arrived, though it has not yet been unloaded.  Manuel looks straight at the Patio and swears that Martín San Telmo is going to pay.

Corporativo Prado Castelo

After refusing help from the Prado Castelo guards, Lorenzo and the guy on Manny's payroll have worked up a sweat unloading the shipment and moving it into the storage room.  Lorenzo notices that one crate seems lighter than the others.  He wants to open it and check it out.  But Manny's guy talks him out of it: Doesn't he trust the boss?  What are the Prado Castelo guards going to think?  It could look bad for Martín!  Lorenzo backs down.

Pueblo Nuevo

Blanquita is still simpering and sighing over the phone with her principe Arturo.  She is in loooove.

¡Blanquiiiiiita!

¡Artuuuuuuro!

Otra vez, La Fiesta

¡Tita!

No, Virginia isn't simpering.  She just can't stop picking at the scab.  She asks Salma again what she said to Verónica that made her back down when she had every intention of making Virginia go to jail.  Jorge overhears her and asks her why her cousin would do such a thing.

Virginia (still wearing her little red Clara Barton capelet) knows that the best defense is a good offense:  "Because she hates me.  You've always denied that and trusted her, but you're going to find out very soon who Verónica and Martín really are... and that Verónica has been fooling you all along!"

Salma looks on impassively.  [There are times that having an immobile face comes in handy.]

Hey, let's forget the palace intrigues for a moment.  The party is still in full swing.  Nico holds out a hand to Salma, but she prudently waves him away.

You're having my baby

Whoa!  Wait a minute... is that Ana Perla?  What?  Isn't she supposed to be in bed?  Oh, wait, I forgot – monkey writers!  Pablo thanks her for giving him the greatest possible gift – his child!

Margarita casts an approving glance in Vero's direction.  She is really cutting loose on the dance floor.  Virginia's scowl deepens.  Ana Perla and Pablo sway to the beat and swear their love.

Another "Did I miss something?" moment

Botel stands at Ana Perla's bedside and smiles.  Her recovery is nothing short of a miracle, he says.   She says that country girls are strong.  You have those good genes, says Marty.

[What?  Even though I'm trying to get through this fast, I stop and replay this over and over.  Did he really say that?  Good genes?  SHE'S A MEMBER OF THE GOAT FAMILY, YOU FOOL!]

Anyway, Botel says she's well enough to get out of bed and enjoy herself (which is good, because she's already been to the party, even if the monkey writers of this particular scene don't know that).  The gang decides to go on an outing to Xochimilco.  Ana Perla thanks them for treating her so well and then adds ruefully:

Ojalá mi abuelo hubiera sido así de bueno.
(I wish the Old Goat had been as good [to me])

Grammar nerd note:  Ojalá comes from Arabic and literally means something like "If God is willing/If God wishes."  Depending on context, it is often translated into English as "I wish" or "I hope" or even "Would that..."

And as usual in Spanish when we are talking about wishes, hopes or desires, ojalá is followed by the subjunctive.

In the present, ojalá can be hopeful:
Ojalá encuentres la felicidad.
(I hope you find happiness – and you may.)

But when ojalá is used with a pluperfect subjunctive (the imperfect subjunctive of haber (hubiera) + the past participle of ser (sido), as in the example above, we have a grammatical formula for lamentation – for sighing over what we wish had happened, but in fact, did not.
Ojalá hubieras entendido mi dolor.
(I wish you had understood my pain – but you didn't.)

And Speaking of the Old Goat...

Despite the poisonous tea that Manuel brewed for him earlier, he is still alive and still wallowing in self-pity.  "Why, Ana Perla, why?  When I gave you everything?  I didn't deserve this."

His stick falls to the floor.  He puts a hand on his heart.  (Die, Old Goat, die!)

Prado Castelo Home - Turning Jorge

Jorge, in a hurry to get to the office, brushes off Salma's overtures.  He can't get past the fact that she deceived him about Virginia; and he can't help thinking that there's something else in her past that she hasn't told him about.  Is there something more serious than the fact that Virginia is her daughter?

Salma turns away and says nothing.

Upstairs in her bedroom, Virginia (in one of her worst outfits yet, a sort of corporate track suit) gets a call from the mysterious Italian client, Mr. Cepeda.  She's glad the information was of use to him, she says.  Yes, sending Verónica a thank-you email would certainly be the polite thing to do.

Do you know how to whistle?

Virginia is pleased with her work.  "You're done for, Verónica.  From now on, your life is going to be very different."  She smiles wolfishly: "My uncle Jorge is going to despise you!"

At the moment, however, the person Jorge despises is Salma.  He says her past seems full of secrets, but that frankly, he's no longer interested in knowing them:

"Why don't you find something to do with yourself instead of chasing after me and begging me to forgive you?  I'm never going to trust you again."

Salma watches him leave.  She is clearly stung by his words.  And who does she blame?  Exactly.  "Damn that Verónica.  Jorge forgave her but not me.  I hope one day he rejects her just as he is rejecting me now.

Happy times at Xochimilco: The Calm Before the Storm

Vero and Marty, Ana Perla and Pablo and Magdalena and Botel celebrate together at this quintessentially romantic tourist attraction.  Good times – group photos, model boats, a scenic tour through the canals, mariachis, and great food!

The Storm Clouds Gather

Jorge tells Emiliano about an email he got from Cepeda demanding changes in their contract.  They are irritated and puzzled since they had already come to an agreement on the terms of the deal.  A copy of the new contract will be delivered to the office so they can review it.

"Will Verónica be there?" wonders Emiliano.  Jorge explains that he gave her the day off.

Thoughts of the Old Goat Intrude in Paradise

Ana Perla, natural party-pooper that she is, starts talking about how she has to get back to the Old Goat.  "Oh that old fool!" exclaims Botel without thinking.  Then he blushes and everyone giggles.

How does Cepeda know this stuff?

Jorge and Emi are in the office now.  Jorge is dismayed to discover that Cepeda obviously has access to confidential information – prices, dates, details only an insider would know.  Someone within the company is doing them dirty.

On the homefront

Salma begs Virginia to spend the day with her, but Virginia refuses.  She has such a busy day at the office (lives to ruin, reputations to destroy – the usual).  Besides, "Now I realize that I can't be like you, living a life of boredom because you have nothing to do!"

Flora and fauna of Xochimilco.  Smiles, hugs.  No dialogue (The monkeys are taking a well-deserved banana break.)

Ambush Number One

Daniel stops Virginia outside the Prado Castelo building.  She smiles patronizingly, and gloats about her plans to win Emiliano back.  Demetrio's letters?  Who cares?  He can give them to Martín or anyone else!

But Daniel soon wipes the smirk off her face:  "Did you think I gave you the original video?"  That flashdrive is just a copy.  She is still under his power and will have to do whatever he says.  And what he wants right now are the keys to Marty's house.  It was Marty who ruined Daniel's career – he's going to pay for that with his life.

Wear that tracksuit to the office again and you're toast!

Daniel also demands more money.  If she won't pay up, he'll sell the video to Vero, to Marty, or even to Jorge.  He forces a kiss on her just to show her that she belongs to HIM.

Problem-solving

Emiliano thinks they should ask the police to investigate, but Jorge says they should find the culprit themselves.  They can't risk losing the contract completely or they stand to lose an enormous amount of money.  After all, they have already bought the gold.

Nanciyaga Takes a Bath

Someone on the Patio suggested that it was time for another spiritual cleansing for Nanciyaga.  It seems the elders agree.  She is back in the sweaty vision hut for a soul tune-up.

While she flashes back to the Man as Blond as the Sun, the monkey writers take a smoke break.]

Who is the corporate mole?

The hamster wheels are going full-tilt in the brains of Jorge and Emiliano.  Virginia would never do such a thing!  Verónica and Martín?  They'd be shooting themselves in the foot!  That leaves Nicolás as the most likely culprit!

Lonely Hearts

Salma walks sadly through the (rather amazing) house.  She reflects that for the others who live there, she is nothing more than a ghost.  Just as she unstoppers the whiskey decanter, Nicolás approaches her (Why is he even there?) and asks her what is wrong.  "My whole world is falling apart," she whispers.  He hugs her and tries to comfort her.  She tells him it is hopeless.  She can't even imagine being happy with a man again.

Nicolás takes that as his cue.  "If you let me, perhaps I could be that man."  He touches her face gently.  Their song swells in the background.

Bitter Hearts

Virginia fumes about being once more under Daniel's thumb.  How is she going to get the money and the keys?  She'll have to get Jorge and Emiliano on her side again.

Sweethearts

The monkey writers take a potty break while our couples enjoy a view of Mexico City from atop the Ángel de la Independencia.

Breaking Hearts

Salma is taken aback by Nicolás's declaration.  He says he can't help himself.  He has fallen in love with her.  If she allowed it, he would go anywhere with her.  She tells him to leave.

Back at Marty's place

The three happy couples have returned safe and sound.  Marty and Verónica have to leave for the office.

Ambush Number Two

Guess who the monkeys have brought back into play?  It's Claudia, needier than ever and determined to get to Martín.  Vero gives her a baleful look.

Innocent Hearts

Arturo sits in an internet café and googles Mina Escondida while Blanquita daydreams about him and vows not to give up on her dream to study nursing.

Idiots

Ana Perla says that without the Old Goat's forgiveness, she and Pablo can never be happy.  Pablo agrees.  Never mind that Manuel and Julio are (literally) gunning for him – they'll leave for Mina Escondida first thing in the morning!

More Idiots

Vero tells Claudia to get lost.  She and Marty are finally in a good place and she won't allow Claudia to mess things up again.  Claudia swears she is only seeking Marty out as a friend.  Vero has heard that one before.  Apparently Marty hasn't.  He tells Vero that nothing can separate them.  He'll just give Claudia a moment.  Vero agrees.  She'll wait for him outside.

I just know that Grandpa Goat will forgive me!

Ana Perla won't hear of it.  Pablo can't expose himself to that risk.  Magdalena backs her up – she knows what it felt like when Botel was in danger.  Botel thinks the women are right.  He says that he and Magdalena can accompany Ana Perla and keep her safe.

Ana Perla is happy about the idea.  She is also sure that once the Old Goat knows they have the blessing of God and San Lorenzo, he will forgive them.  Then nothing – NOTHING – will come between them!

Except maybe these two...

...because the monkeys have brought Mariana back from Paris.  Her mother Montserrat doesn't get it.  Mariana smiles a kind of crazy smile.  This is her chance and she's going to get close to Pablo again – the easy way or the hard way.

Montserrat recognizes that it's no use arguing anymore.  In any case, Mariana is going to have to apologize to Salma.  That letter of hers caused all kinds of trouble.  Mariana promises she'll do as her mother asks.

Claudia is desperate

Claudia tells Marty that her father suffered another relapse and she needs to earn money to take care of him.  After breaking up with Pierre and losing her job after the fire in El Purgatorio, she has nothing left.   She begs Marty to help her.

"You shouldn't have come here, Claudia."

"I did it for you – because I'm still in love with you, Martín."

"Didn't you hear what Verónica said?"

"Oops, sorry.  Yes, I'm only here to ask for help.  I don't have anyone else to turn to..."

Fraud and Schadenfreude

Manuel is happy.  He tells his two accomplices – including the guy who went to Mexico with Lorenzo – that when La Morenita's "fraud" is discovered, someone else will have to supply the needed gold, and they're the ones to do it!  Prado Castelo will be so desperate that they'll pay anything Manny asks.  "And that will be the end of that fuereño!"

Despair

Joaquín longs to be back with his little sunbeam, but she won't have him.  Maybe, he muses, he should go to Mexico and work for Martín.

Virginia's plot is unfolding

At Verónica's request, one of the secretaries at Prado Castelo is reviewing her email.  She discovers the note from Cepeda thanking her for the proprietary information Vero sent him.  The secretary is horrified.  She has to show this to Jorge right away!

What if they catch us?

Manuel assures his henchmen that they will get away with it.  Nobody will be able to prove that they're not getting the gold from their own mine.

But if they do?  (Pero ¿y si sí?)  Then Manny will think of something.  "Julio works for the mine, right?"

I guess the padre's exhortation didn't take

Julio is still clinging to that shmata of a wedding gown and talking to himself.  "I could have made you very happy.  I'm sure that fuereño is only going to make you suffer.  My only crime was to love you."

Julio thinks of her all day; he lies awake at night thinking of her; she is always in his mind.  But she left him.  "I swear that one day, Pablo will pay with his life."

And unfolding...

Jorge reads the offending email.  "What the devil is this?"  Then Emiliano reads it.  ¡No puede ser!  It can't be!

Hey!  I specifically ordered hot and sour, not eggdrop!

And in the end, the tito does turn out the be a títere.  "It was Verónica who sold us out!"

"I told you so!" says Virginia.  "Vero and Marty are in cahoots to hurt us!"

"We have to check the shipment of gold," says Jorge.  "Something strange is going on here."

Virginia files out behind Jorge and Emiliano.  Only the Patio can see her triumphant smirk.

The Chump

Martín agrees to give Claudia a job on one condition: she has to respect his relationship with Verónica.

"Of course, my love... oops... sorry... I mean, Martín."

Uh oh

Manny asks Julio what he's doing with Ana Perla's wedding gown.  He says he found it in a hut.  "Then they didn't die!" Manuel blurts out.

Just soak it in Woolite, dude.  Seriously, it'll be good as new.

Julio's ears perk up.  Why did Manny say that?  Did he push them over the cliff, perhaps?

All that glitters...

Jorge checks the purity of the gold and finds it wanting.  He sends Virginia to get someone from quality control.

The Monkeys' Favorite Scene

Julio is up on his feet now and he is out for blood!  "You bastard!  You know I love your sister!  I'd give my life for her!  I'll make you pay for what you did!"

There follows a carefully choregraphed fight between these perfectly matched lunks.  [If you listen closely, you can hear excited monkey chatter in the background.]

No more jealousy!

Vero knows how destructive jealousy can be.  She trusts Marty and is okay with him working with Claudia.  Nothing will tarnish their love!

... is not Gold!

The quality control engineer takes an ingot and saws it in half, revealing its silvery color beneath a golden coating.  "This ingot is not gold, sir – it's tungsten!"

Comments:
Prado Castelo didn't have any problems until Virginia started working there. Veronica worked there for years, no problem. Veronica is married to a very rich dude who owns a gold mine. There is no reason or need for Veronica or Marty to swindle Prado Castelo.

So, Jorge & Emi will distrust Veronica because they WANT to. Emi is mad that he didn't get his way and Jorge is mad because he didn't get his way (Vero with Emi). In addition, Jorge is too harsh with Salma. She didn't cheat on you to produce Virginia, she just didn't tell you about her for 20+ years. I'm not sure that's really a divorceable event. Salma needs to get a life, though.

Mariana is still delusional. She will flip out when she learns Pablo married Ana Perla and they are expecting.

I think Jorge would have listened to Vero but the fake gold seals Ginny's theory. I think things are going to get really bad for our good people until it gets better.

I think if Salma had not had any contact with her daughter all those years, it might be easier for Jorge to overlook. But he adopted Virginia and raised her as his daughter, not knowing that Salma was her bio mom, and that's a whole other level of deceit.

I know that I would have a really hard time getting past that if my spouse did that to me.

Right Anon207---Marty has no reason to cheat/swindle the Prado Castelo Company. It's as you say, he owns the gold mine and besides, Jorge the owner of Prado Castelo
was the father, like a father to his beloved Veronica all the years that she was growing up---so why would Martin want to hurt Prado Castelo? Also, that companies jewelry line is good business for Martin, a family business in a way. There is no reason that Martin would want to cheat/swindle on a very good and profitable business deal. If Jorge would use his brain cells, he would come to that conclusion, but I guess that we will have to wait until Monday to find out what is next.

I don't know why I was thinking that we haven't seen the last of Mariana but there she was last night. I wonder what part she will play or what she will be up to now--and that goes for Claw-dia too. They both came back within minutes of each other.

Okay, guys, your recap is up!

Novela---Thanks for a blockbuster recap to start the weekend with. Your humor was evident all the way through.

Let's forget the palace intrigue for a moment.

She's a member of the Goat Family.

Monkey writers throughout.

The calm (and beauty) before the storm---that's for sure. That was a nice boat scene that we were given last night. I guess that we needed that little bit of niceness to strengthen us for what is coming.

Virginia has such a busy day at the office--lives to ruin, reputations to destroy-the usual.

Nanci gets a soul tune-up.

If you listen closely you can hear excited monkey chatter in the background.

WOW!!! NovelaMaven---What more can I say except WOW!!!

the gringo

What a great recap! I enjoyed every bit of it! The title had me singing that song and a picturing monkeys typing away. Love the screen shots! Thank you NovelaMaven! I didn't get to watch the last 2 episodes but the recaps kept me in the loop so even though this episode was a bit crazy, I was still able to keep up, thank you recappers!

I really hope Vero is able to use her brain an prove that she didn't send the email. It has to have a date and time stamp when she was obviously not in the office. I agree completely that it's so ridiculous for Jorge and Emi to think Vero and Marty have a reason to scam them.

I hoped Claudia and Mariana wouldn't return but we had to see their psycho faces again. I actually lol when Claudia said "of course my love-I mean Martin" could she be anymore obvious and pathetic? And what is Mariana's scheme? Maybe she sold some of Pablo's paintings in Paris and she thinks that's going to make him forget that she ruined his life? I'm looking forward to seeing her jaw drop with those buck teeth when she finds out Pablo is married and expecting.

"Hey, hey we're the monkeys..." It's stuck in my head now :)

Muchas gracias, NovelaMaven, for a stellar recap complete with fabulous recaps!

Totally agree that Jorge and Emi have to be completely blinded by Vero's supposed playing with Emi's feelings de amor to believe this mess. And to think it couldn't possibly be Virginia! Seriously, hasn't Virginia already proven what a snake she can be? And she forewarned them that they would soon see what a traitor Vero was prior to any of the gold scam coming out. The monkeys were certainly running that show.

As for OG's continuous moaning about all he did for Ana Perla and how he doesn't deserve what she's doing, I can hardly stand it. Can't believe AP still wants to have his support, given his treatment of her and Manny's continued abuse.

Joaquin's little sunbeam....that was hilarious!

Again, I love the grammar notes. Ojalá is one of my favorite Spanish expressions, and a review of the subjunctive in relation to that was great.

Loved the dancing at the fiesta. Vero was rocking, Martín was into it, and Maggie and Botel were fabulous.

Virginia's office track suit was downright ugly.

Wish I could say I'm looking forward to the next episodes. Of course, I am but this gold scam thing is just so stupid it's bound to be painful.

Thanks again,!

Terrific comments, today! In reply to Mari's comment late yesterday, I have to agree that this particular little corner of CarayCaray is particularly on the ball. We're small but feisty and all of you are so sharp and funny. (Lots of potential recappers, I think!) Anyway, It's a joy writing for you and reading what you have to say!

gringo, I'm always happy when you like something I've written. And I agree that "we needed that bit of niceness to strengthen us for what is coming." I'm hoping that Vero and Marty stick together against the baddies. I'd be really upset if Claudia succeeds in coming between them.

Oh Lily, I'm glad I got you singing! (Me, I'm trying to get the old song "Que sera sera" out of my head after Nanciyaga's scene in the vision hut.) Thanks so much for the kind words.

"I'm looking forward to seeing her [Mariana's] jaw drop with those buck teeth when she finds out Pablo is married and expecting."

That's wickedly funny, my friend. It just seems so very silly to bring her back right now. Besides, I'm disappointed. I was hoping to go to Paris.

Mari, I'm totally with you about the party:
"Loved the dancing at the fiesta. Vero was rocking, Martín was into it, and Maggie and Botel were fabulous."
I know lots of people think scenes like this are just filler, but I eat them up. This is why I watch Mejía novelas!

Thanks to Anon207 and Carvivlie for weighing in. I'll catch up with you all later!

Let me also add Veronica's mother is engaged to the other owner of the gold mine. Since Veronica is Malena's only child and it doesn't appear Botel has any children, when they die Veronica will likely inherit Botel's half.

Veronica is already 1/4th owner of a gold mine and when the other partner dies will likely be 3/4th owner of the gold mine. Plus Marty had a successful business BEFORE the gold mine...PLUS her 15% inheritance in Prado Castelo PLUS the money Jorge is giving her.

Point is, Veronica isn't hurting for money. Veronica is not going to be hurting for money. The jewelry line is either hers or named after her. Why would she sabotage Prado Castelo and her own line? Again, Jorge and Emiliano want to distrust Veronica b/c they didn't get their way and after this is all cleared up, Vero needs to distance herself from both Jorge & Emi, no matter how many times they beg. Her family is Maggie, Botel & Marty now.

NovelaMaven, I wanted to comment on your last recap as well (Thursday?) Wow!!! You are on fire! Thank you so much for both your wit and your grammar lessons!

I’m glad you mentioned Maggie and Botel. I thought she looked so cute dancing!

"Anyway, Botel says she's well enough to get out of bed and enjoy herself (which is good, because she's already been to the party, even if the monkey writers of this particular scene don't know that)"
Monkey writers is right! How they could put the scenes of the Pablo and AP at the bday bash BEFORE the scene with Botel telling AP she could be up and about was loco!

I had tagged some of the same lines that Mari noted so I won't mention twice but I just thought this was stellar on your part NovelaMaven. No monkey recapper here!

I had missed this line "She has such a busy day at the office (lives to ruin, reputations to destroy – the usual). Besides, "Now I realize that I can't be like you, living a life of boredom because you have nothing to do!" Makes me think of another song that works for Virginia-- started "You're as cold as ice..." yikes!

I was hoping we wouldn't have the mishegoss that we are about to get, but I've come this far I'm just gonna buckle up for the bumpy ride. Besides, the CarayCaray community makes it all enjoyable!

It seems to me that there is some sort of TN tradition that brings on celebs (towards the end usually) for cameo concerts, and also I've gotten somewhat used to a scene in the final week that seems to include the audience. Anyone know what this is about? Just wondering if it is always there. I'm thinking in particular of the end of Amor Bravio, and also at the end of Mi Corazon es Tuyo. It always ends the fantasy a little soon for me....

later!
Rebecca

Couldn't agree more, Anon207. Jorge and Emi are so quick to find fault with Vero. Jorge got on Vero's case about her saying that Virginia was faking an illness, which in fact she did when it suited her. The fact that she indeed does have heart issues doesn't stop her from going about her snake schemes. How about Dr. Dan losing his job at the hospital because of his involvement with a patient, i.e. Ginny? The relationship between Dr. Dan and Ginny (or is it Vicky...per Emi) was going on while she was set to marry Emi, but both Jorge and jilted bridegroom forgot all about that. Vero deserves a lot better.

Rebecca - Great tune for Virginia "You're as cold as ice," and if I remember the lyrics correctly, it goes on to say, "But somebody you'll pay the price I know."

Sorry! That's "But someday you'll pay the price, I know."

"It seems to me that there is some sort of TN tradition that brings on celebs (towards the end usually) for cameo concerts... Anyone know what this is about?"

I'm not sure, Rebecca, but it seems to vary according to the taste of the producer. When it's a Mejía novela, you can pretty much count on a cameo concert. Is it necessarily towards the end? Maybe. I never really noticed.

"I was hoping we wouldn't have the mishegoss that we are about to get..."
Hahahahaha! I'm always hoping that and my hopes are always dashed! (My definition of 'mishegoss' varies, of course, and is probably not the same as the next person's).

Thanks for the great comment! I'm so glad you've come along for the ride.

Mari, yes, "Someday you'll pay the price." Isn't that what makes telenovelas so very satisfying in the end?

Thanks for the recap and Spanish notes, NovelaMaven! I am currently trying to understand the imperfect subjunctive so this is great. :)

Nothing to do with the show, but I think I heard ojalá pudiera hacer eso on one of the commercials. Would that translate as I wish I could do that?

You're welcome, J!

Yes, that's how I would translate it. Or another variant might be: "If only I could do that!" (I don't admit it to many people, but I have a thing for the imperfect subjunctive) :-)

Ah well, nice to recover from a disappointing football game (we did not live up to our supposed potential) and find this delightful recap. Given what transpired, I think I will just watch the early dance scenes and stop right there. Glad Magdalena and Botel can cut a mean rug, 'cause that black bra she was wearing under a white, translucent top would be considered a fashion no-no here. At least in MY age group!

You were tough on our senior couple, amiga mia...Jorge with his permafrost poker face (great description though) and Salma's impassivity (too much botox perhaps). And loved all the screen shots, especially Emiliano staring you down and telling you to Put the camera away.

"busy day at the office (lives to ruin, reputations to destroy--the usual) was soooo good.

And the grammar lesson-- excellent. I love Ojala...but mostly because I can just sigh "Ojala..." and the other person will mentally fill in the rest. Which is good because I would probably mess up the rest!

Al buen entendor, pocas palabras.

Thanks for another great recap, great pictures, instructive and funny. And all for free. Can't beat that. We are blessed to have you.

Oh, the dancing! I wish I had seen this episode. Thank you for the recap Novela Maven, I didn't follow this telenovela much but I used to catch it here and there from time to time. It's finnishing tommorrow here and I'm probably gonna watch the end so I've been checking out some of it.

What always amazes me is the way everybody seems to believe Virgina's lies again and again. She reminds me of this old commercial from canal 5 with Claudia Ramírez (Magdalena here) which clearly explained what a mosca muerta was. Virginia is the perfect and most effective mosca muerta.

At least Martín is nice again to Verónica but I never felt he truly understood how wrong his actions were at this point so I was bothered by that.

Jarocha

NovellaMaven, good recap, messy episode.
And its about to get messier. On top of what

Well, at least the monkeys are happy.

NovelaMaven thanks for the fantastic recap! I loved it. Very detailed! Thanks for the grammar lesson as well.

Magdalena and Botel sure do know how to dance and I was dancing to the tunes as well. I loved Martin and Vero's dancing as well. There was this funny thing Martin was doing with both his hands. I was laughing. I wonder if they had to rehearse that dance or it came naturally like that.

As much as I looove Martin, he sometimes doesn't think! Why the heck is he letting Claudia work with him again? Cant he refer her to somebody else to work for? He surely has contacts. Wish that Alfredo was alive to advise him, not Martin would listen. I just dont understand why he is letting Claudia come close to him again. He did that with Nanci and he almost lost Vero.

Looks like we are back to square one Jorge and Emi. If they don't believe her, then I hope Vero gives them a hard time if she has to forgive them. They seem quick to not trust Vero.

I thought Mariana had left for good when she was going to Paris.

About Monkey writers - I have noticed a couple of episodes that there have errors with continuity. I think they were rushing the scenes and not taking time to double check.

I am still loving the TN! Wish they were more than 120 episodes.

Usually I only read your comments in order to improve my english and laugh about what others from diferent countries (I am from Mexico) think about Lo Imperdonable, but today I had the impulse to explain what Duchess ask about the thing with Martín's hands while they were dancing.

Ana Brenda has a periscope video doing that thing with her hands, like a strange and funny dancing with a song named "Taxi", previously Iván immitate her in an interview, and now, in that scene I assume they were having a real good time joking about it.

Thanks tquir for that. I have seen the Ana Brenda vid lol. It is funny.

NovelaMaven - Thank you so much for filling in for me and for a stellar recap. I loved the title - "Monkey writers" is right. The screen caps and the captions were perfect. My favorite has to be the one with Emiliano not wanting to have his picture taken. There were many wonderful lines that are too many to list. Thanks again.

This was such a nice episode. I loved all the dancing and it was nice seeing our couples having some happy time together before the storm that appears to be coming their way.

I completely agree that Jorge and Emiliano are fools to think that Veronica would want to harm the company and HER collection when she really has no need to do it.

I too was surprised when I saw AP at the party when she should have been at home resting like Dr. Botel told her to do. I had a "What the heck" expression on my face when I saw her at the party.

Fess up, JudyB – you were a cheerleader in high school, right? Okay, you don't have to say if you don't want to. I'm just glad to have you rooting for Team Imperdonable.

The black bra – does one wear it over or under the thermals?

(I was trying to avoid mentioning visits from the Botox fairy. So glad you cleared the air!)

Thank you for your generous and kind words, my friend. (And better luck with the next game.)

Jarocha, It's always a pleasure to hear from you. I especially enjoyed your comment on the meaning of mosca muerta. :-) It's especially funny because Virginia herself used the term more than once to describe Verónica!

"What always amazes me is the way everybody seems to believe Virgina's lies again and again."
I know, I know!

Enjoy the gran fin! (Let's hope it's a good one.) As for this episode, I bet excerpts of the dancing will be popping up all over YouTube

The return of Claudia and Mariana can't be good at all. I also thought we had seen the last of Mariana when she went off to Paris but no - the writers have brought her back and in one of the worst outfits ever.

Julio needs to get over AP and move on. Let her be happy with the man she loves. The only time I liked Julio last night was when he gave Manny a much needed beat down.

Magdalena and Botel babysitting AP? Oh no! We know what happened the last time Magdalena was left babysitting someone. Hopefully, Botel can help her do good job this time.

Nina, I love your flair for cutting to the chase. "Messy' is right. I'm sure you're right about disgusting Aarón getting ready to pop up on the scene again (though I wish you weren't! Blech.). Oh well, At least the monkeys are happy.

Duchess, I'm pleased you enjoyed the recap. Thanks!

Great point about feeling Alfredo's loss here. There is no cool head left, no voice of reason to give Marty advice. You're right, though – Martín would probably not have listened anyway.

"I thought Mariana had left for good when she was going to Paris."
You and me both! :-)

tquir
So glad you decided to comment today. Welcome! And thanks for clearing up Martín's hand thingy – now I'm going to have to find the Ana Brenda video!

Mauricio

You're very welcome. I'm happy to return the favor (though I look forward to my next "Friday With Mauricio"!)

"Magdalena and Botel babysitting AP? Oh no! We know what happened the last time Magdalena was left babysitting someone."

HAHAHAHAHA! The idea made me uneasy, but I didn't see it exactly in those terms until you pointed it out. (And let's face it, her fault or not, she managed to misplace Verónica for some 25 years!)

The person I really enjoyed in this episode was Botel. The actor allowed himself to be far more spontaneous – and funnier – than we (or I) had ever seen him. Remember how we first met him? He was a surly drunk who lunged at Martín when asked about Demetrio.

"The only time I liked Julio last night was when he gave Manny a much needed beat down."
LOL. Well let me add that the only time I liked Manny was when he was beating up on Julio. :-)

Novela Maven: iI found the clip of the dancing. It looked like Ana Brenda was enjoying herself there and Iván was happy trying to keep up. You can always tell when actors dance to music or when they dance without music and the production adds it in post production. I hope they had a real party behind the scenes.

By the way, I also found the mosca muerta clip with Claudia Ramírez, I've shared this before but Virginia does remind me of it:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_iAYDrD9BEw.

Jarocha

Woo hoo! Thanks, Jarocha! I would never have recognized Claudia Ramírez if you hadn't identified her. And yes, that little clip does explain mosca muerta far better than any written explanation I've encountered.

I'm always fascinated by these expressions that, if not exactly defying translation, certainly make it a challenge.

I'm glad you found the clip of the dancing. It sure looked like the actors were having fun – it's easy to imagine the fun continuing when the cameras stopped rolling.

This is Ana Brenda in the periscope, and Iván immitating her in the interview

Jarocha... good video of Claudia Ramírez, I didn´t remember it until now.

Mari---Yes V-snake did tell them that they would soon see the real Veronica. A big red flag right there.

Right Anon207---Why would Veronica want to put her own jewelry line in jeopardy? It wouldn't make sense but the question is---will Jorge and Emi be thinking sense or will they end up running around waving their hands in the air yelling how could Vero do this?

NovelaMaven---The put the camera down screen shot was hilarious.

I loved the dance scene and my vote went to Magdalena and Botel.

Oh these long weekends. Monday esta noche seems so far away for---must see tv.

Hi NovelaMaven

"HAHAHAHAHA! The idea made me uneasy, but I didn't see it exactly in those terms until you pointed it out. (And let's face it, her fault or not, she managed to misplace Verónica for some 25 years!)"

Yes. Magdalena definitely would NOT make a good babysitter for the grandkids. :)

"The person I really enjoyed in this episode was Botel. The actor allowed himself to be far more spontaneous – and funnier – than we (or I) had ever seen him. Remember how we first met him? He was a surly drunk who lunged at Martín when asked about Demetrio."

I also really enjoyed Botel in this episode. He sure did have some great dance moves on the dance floor. Wow!

I really enjoyed when he let the "old fool" remark also slip (about the OG) then realized his mistake and blushed. That was such a good moment.

He sure has come a long way from when we first met him. Initially, I thought that he was going to be one of the bad guys but I'm glad that was not the case.

"LOL. Well let me add that the only time I liked Manny was when he was beating up on Julio. :-)"

Hahaha. I can't say that I blame you. :)

Hi Jarocha and tquir,

Thank you so much for the clips. I really enjoyed them both.

"Mosca muerta" is one of my favorite terms (that I learned from novelas).

What a cute clip with Ana Brenda and Ivan Sanchez. I love looking at behind the scenes clips with the actors and actresses. It's always nice watching them having such a good time.

PS: My internet is FINALLY back (before I only had access to it via the little screen on my iPhone). A tech was supposed to come and swap the modem/router late Saturday but he never showed up so I called the cable company. It turned out that the person whom I spoke to on the phone (about scheduling a tech to come over) never scheduled the tech to come over. So I was told that I could come over to the store (which is pretty far away) and swap the boxes personally. So this morning I did that and now I'm back online. :)

Tquir
Thanks for the clip of Ana Brenda and Iván. Very funny stuff.

Mauricio
Whew! I'm so glad you're back on line! It's such a joy dealing with cable companies, isn't it?

Hang in there, gringo, we're almost there! :-)

And crazy mariana is back, now things will
Get Wacky. Wait till she finds out that pablo and Ana perla got hitched. Im lookin forward to this week. I'll be flippin between the new fall line up on the networks and univision. It'd be easier if I had a tv with a screen within a
Screen. but I will do it the old fashion way. thank God for remote controls.

Thanks NovelaMaven.

Yes. It's terrible dealing with them. I was up until late talking to them on the phone on Friday night and it was frustrating to find out that they had no scheduled the appointment. I'm glad the problem has been fixed.

Nina

I'm also looking forward to a brand new week of Lo Imperdonable.

NovelaMaven,
Gracias for doing this recap. It is spectacular! There are so many quotable lines, plus the screenshots. It is just awesome. Sorry for being late to the party. I hope someone saved me a drink. I was absolutely busy this weekend. I do have to mention that my husband took me to see Ricky Martin in concert as an early birthday gift. It was an incredible show. And like our episode on Friday, there was a lot of dancing going on at the concert.

Anyhoo, I have to agree that the monkey writers are back. I was totally confused as to why AP was at the party. Plus she wasn't even in any of the scenes by the music stage. It seemed as though AP and Pablo were hiding away in some corner. It was just too weird. Then to have Botel tell her she can go out, after we just saw her at the party was stupid. Is this the writers fault or the editors? Either way there was some monkey business going on.

Having Claudia come back can only mean trouble for Vero and Marty. I even wonder if Claudia's father really got sick again. Or is she just using that as an excuse to make Marty feel sorry for her. Hmmm...

Thanks again NovelaMaven. Can't wait for tonight!

Hasta Pronto!

Thanks for this brilliant recap, NovelaMaven. I'm dazzled that you were able to extract so much from this rather feeble episode. The grammar lesson was my favorite part and the captioned photos were excellent. Once again you managed to bring a bit of order to the disorder that now dominates this inexplicably entertaining TN. I'm in awe.

Sorry I'm very late checking in and don't really have anything to add to the discussion.

Judy,

"Ah well, nice to recover from a disappointing football game (we did not live up to our supposed potential)..."

And yet your team won and is still ranked #1 in the poll... pardon me if I'm not weeping for you... yet.

Carlos

AuntyAnn

What a wonderful birthday gift. I'm glad to hear that you had a great time at the concert. Happy Early Birthday!

It seemed as though AP and Pablo were hiding away in some corner.

That's what it seemed like to me as well.

AuntyAnn, we always have something waiting for you here on the Patio – a cool drink when you need it or something to warm you against the chlll of the night. And as Mauricio says, that sounds like a wonderful birthday gift. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Carlos, you're making me blush. I'm delighted and flattered that you liked what I wrote about this "inexplicably entertaining TN." (Which description, by the way, is very funny because it is so true. Why on earth are we enjoying this silly show so much?)

Mauricio,
Thanks for the early birthday wishes.

"I also thought we had seen the last of Mariana when she went off to Paris but no - the writers have brought her back and in one of the worst outfits ever."

You had me laughing with that line. And I totally agree. It's like Mariana and Ginny had the same deranged wardrobe person. But with Ginny it doesn't bother me because she's a vicious snake. Mariana, on the other hand, is just too needy and has no self worth. She needs to respect herself before she gets involved in a relationship.

Also, check your email.

Thanks NovelaMaven,

Since it's still warm in my neck of the woods I will take a cool drink. A margarita sounds good right about now.

I think we are enjoying this novella so much because we have such great people on the patio to enjoy it with. Plus, we are soooo ready for the anvils to begin.

AuntyAnn - Feliz cumpleaños!

Mari,
Muchas gracias! The concert was an early birthday gift. My actual birthday is on the 25th of this month.
