Yo No CreoEn Los Hombres #91 Tue 11/17/15: Mother and Son Reunions

(I’m doing this from memory cuz I’m in a hurry today.  If I got it wrong or left any out, my apologies.)

Daniel, smelling and looking like  sewer rat after slinking off from prison at his release, grabs hold of Maria Delores, pulls Julian out of his wheelchair and into the street, and then threatens  her and throws another guilt trip on her.  He then races off up to Josefa’s apartment, bangsing till she lets him in.  Julian is lying in the street but MD takes the time to help him back into his wheelchair and screams for him or somebody to call the police.

Daniel finds the cell phone and calls Ursula to tell her to pick him up from there.  He then makes his way to Hosie’s kitchen and holds her off at knifepoint while grabbing food out of the kitchen.  She convinces him—one sewer rat to another-- that they should make a pact  to wreck MD’s and Max’s wedding by blurting out the truth about Claudio and Isela’s affair.  “—That news will stop the wedding for certain!”  He agrees.

Julian, meanwhile, goes for the pistol hidden under the mattress admidst all the fretting and screaming of family and friends and Honoria’s protests.  Suddenly the police arrive and race up to Hosie’s.  They’re banging on the door just as Grrrsula and Arango arrive.  She explains he was let loose and is free, not an escapee from prison and is his mother there to take him home.  Hosie opens her door and says the poor guy was hungry and only wanted to use her phone.  The police see the paper for his lawful release and cannot do anything about the chaos he’s caused.  Dan stands on the balcony just before the group of them leaves the apartment complex and reads his partdon aloud to the crowd below.  As he walks away to get in the car he makes certain that MD knows it was Claudio Bustamonte that helped free him.

Clara is outraged and thinks Max should know immediately what’s happened.  She bawls MD out for disagreeing and wanting to hold back.  She thinks it’s out of fear again, but MD and Esperanza explain that it’s a bad time because the next morning Alma is telling the family formally about her cancer and that she’s dying. (Leo’s the only one who still doesn’t know by now.)  Clara calls her sister a milque toast and storms out.

Over at the los Bustamonte, Leo sneaks a peak at Ise and papi’s sentimental hand-holding and starts to realize after thinking back to Orlando’s odd statements that the relationship is not as wholesome as it might have earlier appeared.  And, it is not because down in the garden Clod’s professing his great love for Ise—the same as what he once felt for Alma back in the day.  Leo gets ticked at what he sees and calls Clara to complain and wonders if he’s just imagining things.

Clara doesn’t get to tell Leo about the fact that DannyBoy’s out and threatening her sister; she only gets to listen to what Leo tells her about Ise and Clod before he has to hang up.  MD overhears and asks if she was a big mouth or not.  Clara tells her his news and from MD’s guilty look know’s she was in on it already.  More reasons for her to get good and pissed as big sis and mama.

Meanwhile, Danny arrives home to a less than enthusiastic greeting from jealous and resentful Maleny.  She warns Mami and Danny that the two of them are going down by themselves.  She wants no part of it or them.  They head upstairs and Mami Bear gives Baby Bear a bath.  She tells him how she forced Clod to help her get him free.  He says he hopes he doesn’t have to go back to prison because if the fiend he promised to get out is still not freed, then he’s a walking dead man.  The two conspire that if Prison Fiend gets out he could grab and kill Max and leave MD waiting at the altar—forever and a day.

Leo accuses Ise of playing his mother for a fool and having an affair under her nose.  Clod comes in to clarify with the lie that he was consoling her beacause of---when suddenly Alma appears at the bedroom door and begs him not to say.  She’s forced to tell Leo.  She tells him that his daddy was only consoling Isa because she has cancer.  Alma has decided not to undergo treatments and lets them all know. Leo goes BSC and has to have Max control and console him.  Clod cries when seeing Leo and Alma napping side by side in the bed.  Max consoles his father outside the closed bedroom door.

At Chelito’s place, Orlando and Doris finally start to get busy but Orly backs off.  He doesn’t feel comfortable doing the deed in Chelo’s house.  It would be disrespectful.  Doris must understand.   (Who knows if she really does?  This part of Viewerville could give a rat’s patoot.)

The next morning Prison Fiend finds out from his Murdering BFF that Danny was secreted out the night before while they were all partying.  He’s free and left Prison Fiend sucking his thumb.  PF grabs the cell phone and finds DannyBoy’s home phone.  It’s actually Grrrsula’s private number.  He threatens her and she threatens back.  She tells him to wait his turn and hangs up.  Arango warns her that getting mixed up with these types could be dangerous.  She sniffs a haughty, self-assured sniff.

Clara arrives at the Bustamonte’s and Max greets her.

Eagerly awaiting your recap. I will comment a little later when I return from the store.

Looking forward to, Jardinera.

Well, the holidays are over and all heck has broken loose. No one, except Orly and Doris, was having a good New Year's night. This looks like it's going to be a week of some hard truths for a lot of our characters.

Absolutely brilliant job from memory, Jardinera!

That bath scene was so unbelievably creepy. But I loved seeing Leo and Alma snuggle. Call me a hypocrite. Leo's grief was raw, but very much in line with his character. Plus, he has always been closest to Alma. This was a really hard blow for him.

Excellent Jardinera and I went back and watched again and you got it.

It was heart breaking between Alma and Leo as Dan and Ursula snickered about her cancer.

MD's got a lot of nerve being pissed at Clara in her attempt to keep her quiet. What's next a threat? This isn't about protecting Alma anymore but MD playing cover her ass and her moms in on it.

You can bet Julian would have put a bullet in Dan if he had the gun on the street.

Tofie- I think the writers had Clara speak for Viewerville in those scenes when she confronted MD about keeping all these secrets. Both Leo and Clara are such visceral truth-tellers. Leo wasn't holding back at all when he confronted Claudio and Isela. He even physically went after his father. But he'll probably be inclined to believe their story, or at least give them the benefit of the doubt, now that he knows about the cancer.

Thank you Jardinera, seems pretty succinct. The scenes with Leo made me teary. It's funny how there is always an out for keeping the secret from being exposed. This time it was Claudio was simply consoling Isela over the cancer news.

Agree Vivi about Leo and Clara and glad we have them and my temperature rose as Clara's did at MD's self righteous defense of her unwillingness to correct a "mistake" (her words) as she demands others correct theirs or refrain from making them.

For me at least, MD can be a bitch with her eye roll and pursed lip. I don't really like her and Espy just beside herself wondering what can they do with Clara the rebel child. Clara and Leo love each other and Clara has as much right to comfort him as MD does Max. I had a little flash back when MD decided to run away and Espy was willing to drop everything in support of MD and her mess without one thought of what that meant for Clara. Clara and Leo have become another nuisance as they threaten to slip out of the corral.

I'll bet any money now that Leo found out about Alma's cancer, Clara won't tell him what she knows.

Yes, but I think more because of the ass chewing she got from her mother and MD. Clara cannot have a conversation with her bf without MD hovering or head to see Leo without a tsk-tsk around the breakfast table between MD and Espy.

If MD wants to monitor someone monitor Isela or Claudio to make sure they hold up their end.

Great job on the recap, J!!!

The bath scene was like borderline incest. So creepy and bizarre. Spoiled baby Danny boy is.

I felt bad for Leo that he found out about his mom that way. And to think the truth about Isela and Claudio was almost revealed.

I'm getting more worried about Julian. I hope he doesn't do anything stupid.

Good job, Jardinera.

In order of importance rather than occurrence:

Did I imagine this or was Isidro as creeped out by the bathtub scene as we were? And who knows what else he's witnessed over the years in that house.

Somehow I think that Danny-Boy's cellie is going to figure in his Karmageddon, or Ursula's.

Danny-Boy sank to his true level from the second he stalked MD and Hosefa just earned her place in the 9th circle of Dante's Inferno..

Danny-Boy and Maleny: Let them kill each other already.

Maleny was grossed out by his odor. Nice to know there is something normal about her.

Urban- It was Maleny lurking in the doorway of the bathroom, not Isidro. It just rounded out the creepy incest vibe.

I thought Leo's scene with Isela prior to finding out about his mother was a good reminder of just how young he is. We may know the truth, but all he had were suspicions based on one moment, and he flies off the handle and screams at Isela. I so badly wanted him to just SHUT UP already. Not because Isela doesn't deserve it, but his inability to shut up and listen for two minutes threatened to spill the beans to Alma. If Clara tells him the truth that MD stupidly confirmed to her (because really, what's one more lie even to your sister who can't keep a secret either), he won't be able to keep his mouth shut and let Alma enjoy her last days. Neither of them should know anything about the affair until Alma is gone. Then they can yell all they want. I'm fully in the "Make Alma's Last Days Happy Even if It's All Bs" camp.

Kelly

The whole family is too creepy for words.

And if Hosefa does what she threatens my fear is that the nabe will just sit on their hands again.

I am puzzled by the easy access that the prisoners have to cell phones. Are cell phones freely allowed in Mexican prisons? In recent scenes, the prisoners don't seem to have to hide the phone when they take or make a call.

My opinion about Dan in the tub wasn't as much incestuous as Mommy taking care of baby boy. If he were 5 years old, none of us would think what they're doing as odd, and that's how I think Ursula and Dan treat each other. Like he's still her baby boy and he loves to be mommied. And I'm not saying that isn't sick, because it's very unhealthy too.

GoBlueFan- These particular prisoners have connections (gangs/drugs) and are paying off the guards to have special privileges like phones, bigger cells, real beds, better food, and prostitute visits. The reason Dan is beholden to that guy in prison is because he took Dan under his wing and into the special privileges club, in exchange for the promise of freedom. The rest of the prisoners are NOT living like this. It should be noted that although he was actually in the most privileged group/section of the prison, Dan is still a blubbering mess, as if he had been shoved in with the common folk sleeping on the ground, cold, hungry, and beat up all the time.

Thanks, Jardinera. I won't be able to enjoy your recap until later tonight. But I want you to know how much I appreciate your taking one for the team to cover Ursula doing a scrub-a-dub with Dan in the tub. Eeeeoooh!

Belch.....mom and son bath

Leo and Alma had me in tears....I'm a big cry baby
