TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#2): Eva la Trailera, La Esclava Blanca, El Señor de los Cielos #4 and ¿Quién es Quién?: Week of May 23, 2016

TELEMUNDO WEEKEND EDITION (continuación)

Here's Page 2 for the week.

The current novelas include the following (all times are Eastern Time):

• 12-2 pm—¿Quién Es Quién?
• 8 pm—Eva la Trailera
• 9 pm—La Esclava Blanca
• 10 pm—El Señor de los Cielos

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation.  Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're discussing at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the discussions they're looking for.

Don't forget, the evening programming for Friday(only) is given over to specials; so no Eva, Esclava or Señor on Friday. I assume regular programming will resume next Monday.

La Esclava Blanca

I just posted a recap for Wednesday's episode in the previous post from Monday. Was that the right place to put it?

Esclava

J, what a wonderful recap! Probably your message letting people know you posted it in the Monday page will be all that's needed to help people find it. But if you are willing to copy what you wrote and paste it as well here on the Thursday page, that might be even better. It's a terrific recap--complete, detailed, and very helpful. Thanks so much for doing it.

EVA – Jueves

This was a much more positive episode.

Eva tells Armando once more she’ll never forgive him (over the phone he borrowed).

Camila visits AA but doesn’t want to make love. Is this Furias torture? Sensing how cool she is he later wonders if she knows who he really is.

Luis proposes to Adriana. She accepts. They go to see Armando. Elsa has been taking bitch lessons from Marlene and accosts them as if they’re intruders. Adriana has come not so much for them to ask permission as for getting her dad to push Silva on the divorce. La Alacrana won’t leave them alone at first, until Armando tells her to go.

Robert tells Soraya and Cinthia corny jokes. Soraya laughs. Cinthia sneers. [Is Soraya’s plan to get him to fall for her?]

There’s lots of truck radio conversation between Enrique, Evencio, and Eva [the Three E’s] on the highway. It almost seems like they’re planning a coup on Marlene, but nothing really developed.

Virginia peers over Gusano’s shoulder and manages to watch his fingers enough to get the password. She later gets into his computer and has access to Mon-Sol finances.

JJ has found the license of the truck that killed Pancho. They turn this over to Fajardo.

Pablo is again helping Fajardo. He suggests, when they discover the type of weapon used by Rebeca that they check for stolen police service weapons. Bingo. They connect the dots, even coming up with Gloria the now-imprisoned guard who probably found out where Virginia was living.

Betty wonders if her kidney disease is God’s punishment for what she did to Eva. Pablo overhears. Later Pablo puts a ring on it. And goes on to offer a kidney.

Federica offers to be Fabi’s grandma, and Fabi accepts.

AA hangs out in a dive bar precisely to find Rebeca. She drinks a lot and plants a kiss on him.

Gusano overhears the Mon-Sol drivers talking about the imminent collapse of Mon-Sol. He runs right to Marlene, who knows it's Eva.

Rey got off a great line. When JJ is putting a mike on his shirt to wear into Laila’s house, he says: No es muy elegante hacer sexo con camisa! He later jumps into bed with Leila. The Cardenas gang sneaks into the attic and appears to find the document Sebastián wrote giving everything to his mother.

The two rats: Rebeca and Andy the Asqueroso have apparently been in bed together when Marlene shows up talking about getting rid of Eva for good. Rebeca offers to help.

Esclava... 27/61
part 1

Isabel is with Gabriel, they talk about Jaime, and catches Gabriel by surprise saying they want me to marry him, but I've decided to marry you, (as Manuela listens on, she wants no more trouble from Nicholas) oh but he explains he is not a popular guy right now, he is not a landowner, has no money... marriages are for convenience not love he adds, Isabel takes this as he doesn't love her, and leaves.

Victoria is done talking to Cata, runs into Miguel, he's mad/worried she is here, Cata leaves them to talk, but listens, Victoria says I know you hate me, I hate myself, I have lost you and don't know how to get you back, she loves him and wants her friend back, and he can't stop loving her, they kiss.

Felipe comes home catches Cata listening, startles her, getting Victoria and Miguel's attention, Felipe invites Victoria for lunch, but she must run (and be careful not to be seen)

Felipe warns Cata about her feelings for Miguel (and something about a last time)

Isabel is wandering through the street, bumps into a man, and loses her purse to a thief, but Gabriel has followed and gets it back, Isabel tells him she is trying not to like him and leaves.

Victoria arrives at Manuela's but where is Isabel, ah here she comes, they leave to go see Jaime, do we have to? Isabel wants to know, on the way Isabel talks about Gabriel, if he's poor I could share what I have, you were poor when you came to my dad, but it doesn't work that way Victoria tries to explain, and as Isabel asks Victoria if she loves her dad, she sees that she doesn't.

Nicholas grabs Miguel and they go off for a drink, Nicholas explains that he does business with these guys and cannot publicly support Miguel, but he is on his side (wow, this guy can be so believable, and he plays all sides) but Miguel needs the support of a white man, and you heard Lopezes say they wanted to kill me.

Nicholas then shows up at the doctors house, to show his support for Jaime, and to accompany Victoria and Isabel home, who were also there, waiting in the background while the men talked.

Bernal is the new guy for Reme, she wants to go out, and she gets to see Trinidad, he waves as she goes by.

Miguel thinks Nicholas is a good guy, that if he wins his case he will free himd, Felipe calls him naive, reminds him Nicholas owns him, yes but he admits to being my father, Miguel says, but only after you found out, and Cata breaks up the argument, you should be preparing for the trial, but there are no more witnesses, there is nothing to prepare.

Reme learns of Victoria's losses, the Padre denied knowing her, and Nicholas controls any inheritance, even if he died Eden would belong to his kids, and Reme gives Victoria a look like she had considered killing him.

but Victoria learned that Miguel still loves her, but how can she help someone that doesn't want any help, if only she could buy Isaias, ah but maybe she can with her jewels, Milagros knows someone that could help.

Esclava... 27/61
part 2

at dinner Nicholas is back on his impotency soup, to go with the family chat.

later that night he comes to Victoria, but can't do the deed, but hey, he has an idea, maybe they should go with Victoria's suggestion, separate bedrooms, grabs a pillow and leaves.

at church Victoria comes up to Ana, heard she does these transactions to get money, Ana is nervous that she knows, but wants to know why Victoria wants to do the same, to help Miguel.

Cata reads the court sentence of another slave, he lost, then was to be ?? cut into pieces, but he ran away, giving Miguel hints, Felipe asks him if he wants to run away, but Miguel will stay if the murders of the to be freed slaves get investigated.

Ana sells Victoria's jewels, (on the condition her husband doesn't find out) as Victoria waits in the carriage, now it's Victoria's turn to ask Ana why she did it, to help Miguel, she knows he is of a different race but he made her feel alive, like a woman.

in court, the lawyers gave their arguments, etc etc, Jaime testifies, Miguel had it in for him, got him cornered on a lonely road, chopped my hand off, Miguel testifies Jaime had a gun, he didn't, Jaime ran him down and bragged about killing Rosa, how he enjoyed it, they fought, Jaime's not liking the truth and jumps in, the judge wants order, gets Jaime to shut up, brings the lawyers up to the bench, tells Alonso to control Jaime or he will throw him out, tells Felipe he must have some real evidence or he will order the public execution of Miguel for perjury.

Victoria brings Cata the money, but she replies they already tried to buy Isaias, Eugenia bought him, so Victoria goes there, Eugenia wants to know the real why, it's for Miguel who Nicholas favors, as Nicholas shows up at the gate for another romp and Victoria freaks, Bunme tells him Eugenia is busy and plants a big guy at the gate, Eugenia hasn't decided to help, but won't tell Nicholas, oh and why was Nicholas here Victoria wants to know, business.

Nicholas, Victoria, Isabel, and Adela meet, Nicholas explains there was a brawl in court between Jaime's supporters and the freedmen, so it was postponed until tomorrow, he asks Adela to come back home, she agrees but not for a couple of days, she has to make arrangements.

Eugenia and Bunma talk about Miguel, did she say he was bon bon?

next day Nicholas brings Victoria and Isabel to the trial, he says it might get ugly, Isabel hopes they lynch Jaime, Nicholas is not amused.

Felipe states his case, but Alonso says it's all speculation, the facts are two men fought, the accuser is safe and sound, the other lost his hand, it's ones' word against the other, but wait Felipe has one more witness, Isaias, and Miguel smiles at Victoria and she smiles at Eugenia.

(and we found out tonight that Arturo IS the only doctor in Santa Marta)

Esclava

oops, I posted this on #1 page, your choice to delete.

Esclava Thanks, deb. I'll leave it on page 1 for now and clean things up later. More is more in my opinion, and this way, people will surely not miss it. Thanks for reposting here and thanks Juanita for the suggestion to repost on page 2.

And thanks all for keeping this page so vital. Sorry I'm out of the loop here, but this is a very busy time for me. I watch when I can and give the blog a quick read at least once a day, but not much time to take it all in and comment.

Eva and Esclava

Last night they announced that there would be NO EPISODE OF EVA OR ESCLAVA TONIGHT. For some reason (the start of the Memorial Day weekend?) they decided to show two movies instead. And, according to the listings on zap2it, this applies to El Señor de los Cielos as well.

Eva

Muchas gracias, novelera, for another excellent recap, complete and concise.

What was the point of Armando borrowing a phone--just so Eva wouldn't know he was the one calling and thus ignore his call?

I found the scene between Fabi and Federica touching. I keep wondering how accurate the portrayal is of Fabi's autism. I've known kids like Diego, and much of what I've seen on the novela seems in keeping with what I've seen in Real Life. Fabi is more seriously autistic. I've been surprised and heartened by the progress she seems to be making, but I have no idea how realistic it is. Does anyone know?

I too am wondering what Soraya's plan is. The thought of her getting Robert to fall for her is exceedingly unpleasant.

Yup, Pablo is offering Betty a kidney, as long as there's a match. It's not enough that he's sacrificing his prospects for a happy life? My guess is that either Pablo will be found to be incompatible as a donor or, perhaps more likely, he'll be found compatible but Betty will die before he can actually make the donation. And of course Telemundo will play with us up to the last moment. [Then again, I thought Telemundo would play with us in Bajo el Mismo Cielo but finally not kill off Rodrigo, but I was wrong. Hope I'm not wrong again, though my track record says I am :-) ]

Esclava

Thanks very much, deb, for another superb recap. I continue to have a lot of trouble following this novela--there's so much of the Spanish that I miss--so I'm most grateful for your recaps (and now J's as well).

I found it odd that Trinidad smiled and waved at Reme. Surely he must know how much his leaving her has hurt her. My assumption is that he stopped being with her because he was feeling attracted to her and knew that that could be extremely dangerous, certainly for him and possibly for both of them. I also think that she, too, was strongly attracted to him, and that she made the statement all slaves are alike, it doesn't matter who is in charge of her care, in order to cover up her real feelings. In view of all this, I found his smile and wave somehow inappropriate and inadvertently hurtful. I'd have been happier had he looked sad.

Isaias looked absolutely petrified in the courtroom. I wonder whether he'll have the courage to testify to Jaime's abuse. And now we have to wait until Monday to find out. Grrr.

Eva. Excellent recap, novelera! I think the 3 E's were just comparing notes on how well the smear campaign against Mon-Sol was going (as well as updating the audience), and chuckling over it. Once Pablo and Fajardo found out that the bullet that killed Bertha came from a police revolver, it took remarkably little time to find out about Rebeca's assaulting the female officer and stealing her gun. Hope they take care of Rebeca quickly, even though she's now allied with Andy! I hope they don't wait until Andy himself is done in--probably the next to last episode! I was as delighted as the other furias in the transformation in Virginia. Loved it when she and Enrique took off to buy an "arsenal" to protect her against Rebeca. I agree with you, Juanita, on the several possibilities for Betty's kidney. It just depends on how much the writers want to jerk our chains. I too have had a student like Diego--and equally brilliant. She's in one of the applied sciences, a very technical field, as well as a double major in Spanish, and will no doubt be a professional success. She's also extremely knowledgeable about the autism spectrum and quite militant about everyone's right to be who they are. A person as far along on the spectrum as Fabi would probably be less likely to be in college.

Eva

ah, thanks so much novelera, I love your recaps!

on the english caption side, it's 'spill the beans' operation for Eva, and Eva wants Marlene to know it's her.

why look for truck rentals, they should go for the owner on the registration.

I hate novela spies, they are always making noise.

so much for the secret compartments in the desk, the power of attorney was right on top.

ya ya flowers, a ring, and a kidney does not spell true love, but it looks like Pablo is all in.

Esclava

Juanita- Reme being carried in that chair reminds me of the Egyptians and their slaves.

there are quite a few people at the trial rooting for Miguel, there was even applause when he said he was proud to be black, and I think one of their best witnesses is Jaime, like Eugenia said he's an idiot, I too wonder if Isaias will talk, more likely that Jaime will kill him, and where's the jury.

I think Nicholas is bringing his mother home to get his women in line.

TELEMUNDO...

I saw a promo for "Sin senos sí hay paraíso" last night.

TELEMUNDO. deb: Any idea about what it will be replacing?

Esclava

Maybe no Eva tonight will give me some time to try to move forward on Esclava. I have about 7 unwatched episodes on the DVR. The last thing I remember clearly was Miguel in a fine suit, having been rescued by the kindly Colombian abolitionist. And, again, relying on memory, I think Miguel, the nice guy and his grumpy sister were needing to leave the city where they were.

Please don't mention anything in a reply to me past that point. Just wanting to let you Esclava lovers know that I'm still in, just far behind. I think it's a terrific novela. A couple of weekends ago I binge watched 5 episodes.

I have my Warriors fighting for their lives and my Giants in first place in the National League West of baseball. And I can only spend so many hours on the couch!

TELEMUNDO...

SpanProf- hard to say,

"El Señor de los Cielos" 44/?? will most likely be replaced by "Senora Acero"
"La Esclava Blanca" 27/61
"Eva la Trailera" 84/??

if Eva goes 120, it should finish about the same time as Esclava (if they don't cut), my guess, Sin Senos will probably take the later spot while the lighter "Silvana Sin Lana." will take the early spot.

Esclava

novelera- so glad you are still watching, this show is so worth it if only for the costumes and locations, but such a well written story as well.

TELEMUNDO. Thanks, deb!

Esclava

Thanks for Thursday's recap, deb! Are there any days besides Wednesday that I should plan for recapping? This is the only TN that I'm watching everyday and I'm usually free so I should have plenty of time.

Glad to hear you're catching up with the episodes, novelera. I binge watched 20 episodes in about 4 days - it is that good! I use watching TNs (and now recapping) as an exercise in improving my Spanish so I plan to include vocabulary and phrases that I find interesting. The Spanish accents in this TN fascinate me, especially since many of the actors have to fake the costeño or paisa accents, and there are quite a few new words that I've never come across before.

Esclava

J, I was so pleased to read that you plan to include interesting Spanish words and phrases in your recaps. I was very happy that you did so in the Wednesday recap, especially since it included a word I didn't know (maniatadas). I, too, often try to include Spanish words and phrases that I think other people may find helpful. Doing so also helps me commit them to memory (well, sometimes :-) ).

Esclava

J- wow, thanks for offering, actually every day is open, pick any or all, and maybe some one else would like to do one, less than 7 weeks left.

Esclava

Ok, how about I start with Monday, Wednesday, Friday and see if I can handle that first before committing to doing everyday?

Esclava

J- that would be terrific, and very much appreciated, thank you!

Esclava

No problem!

QUIEN

Anybody watching this? It's really hotting up right now - fun! And it's lovely to watch a show that hasn't been cut - quite a luxury.
