Un Camino Hacia el Destino-Week 14 (May 23, 2016) First Half

Episode #63 – Monday May 23
Carlos awaits his fate, greeting “former” patients at the hospital. Marcos sees him and reminds him he shouldn’t be there. Carlos tells Marcos maybe the doctors and staff don’t need him, but the patients do. Marcos is sure everything will work out. Carlos doesn’t see how that is possible when they put the decision on his future in the hands of his rival. Marcos believes Javier will not let their personal rivalry affect his professional opinion.

Mariana and Fernanda continue their conversation. Fer is there to work, work she needs to help get her father well. It’s their fault he’s there. Mariana corrects her—it’s her mother’s fault. Fer revises, yes, her mother preferred her old family name and position to the love of her father and herself. Fer leaves to give Don Fer his pills. Blanca reappears. She points out to Mariana that she can relax, Fer is not after the inheritance, even though it’s also hers.

Amelia is giving Louie the Louse instructions on how they are to get along. He’s simply to do his job. LtL doesn’t lose any opportunity to be condescending. He says to Amelia, who would have thought she’d ever end up being his supervisor, since he considered himself so much superior to her and looked down on her. Life certainly has its lessons. He says all this just oozing insincerity as only he knows how to do it sincerely. [I know, I’ve used this image before, but it oh, so fits.] Amelia says she hopes he’s learned one lesson, not to step on people on his way to the top, he may meet them on his way down. Someone knocks. It’s Marissa to see Luis.

Amelia’s greeting can’t be described as anything but snooty when Marissa is surprised to see her in the office. Yes, fancy that, Amelia says a bit sarcastically, once she was a charwoman in Marissa’s office, now this office is hers. They are both executive women on an equal level, she remarks snidely. At least now she won’t have to wear the uniform she was forced to wear at the bank, huh! Marissa says it was nothing personal. It was bank rules, the same rules that are still in effect although Amelia is no longer there.

Amelia reminds Marissa she took that job because she needed the wages but was not seen or treated the way she would have as a refined lady with an education, which she always was. She then invites a clearly confused Marissa to sit down and she’ll order tea. She has several types to choose from and a new one just arrive which is sure to delight her.

Whether Marissa ever got her tea is not known, because she is next seen in Luis’ office talking to him. She recognizes that Amelia is every inch an executive, but she doesn’t understand her nasty attitude toward her. Why so much resentment? She always treated her with respect at the bank, and that uniform business, that’s the norm. Luis speculates that maybe she expected to be an exception to the rule and that’s why there is some antipathy.

Amelia, meanwhile is complaining to Blanca, the real reason for her resentment. Of course, Marissa is the woman Luis left her for. Amelia thinks Blanca is defending Marissa when she says Marissa couldn’t be blamed for Luis’ skullduggery. Amelia wants to know how Fer is. Blanca says she’s fine, even though she was talking to Mariana quite a long time. Blanca assures her that she’ll regain her daughter’s affections. She just needs time. She’ll also help Amelia find Pedro. A thin, tortured smile comes over Amelia’s face as she hears that (as in it hurts her to smile).

Marissa and Luis discuss his leaving the house. She thought he’d be sick and tired of seeing her. On the contrary, says Luis, he’ll enjoy making her life as miserable as possible. He starts in on her looks, her age, her mental state hoping to get her offended and mad. She lets it pass. She thinks she’ll prevail. He’s not convinced. She offers him half of what the house is worth to walk away without involving lawyers. Luis thinks it’s a very generous offer, but he’s going to continue with the legal proceedings and get the whole house and get to watch her and that good-for-nothing son of hers be the ones to leave.  She calls him infantile and he’s going to end up being sorry. She’s about to leave and he reminds her to have something tasty ready for his dinner that night. [If she could barf in his lap right then, she would have.]

Camila is pleading with Hermy to tell her what to do so Don Fer doesn’t run her off the hacienda. He tells her to stand up to him and put him against Fernanda. He reminds her, her real objective is Carlos. She whines about wanting to tell the truth. Herm yells at her to stop being contradictory. Carlos gets to choose. He either marries Camila or loses his title (license).

Carlos sees Jay arrive for the board meeting. He assumes Jay is going to turn in a negative report on him, just because they are rivals for Fer. He’ll lose his license and Jay will have the way clear to gain Fer’s affections. He tells Carlos Fer has awakened feelings he didn’t know he had. Carlos pokes Jay a bit, reminding him he told him earlier he wasn’t in love with Fer. Jay says when he said that, he had not admitted those feelings to himself. He’s going to fight for Fer’s love. If he wins, it will be because he won fair and square. That’s how he operates.

Carlos is asked to attend the hearing on the charges brought by Camila Sotomayor Williams against Carlos Gomez-Ruiz. Jay does the right thing. He believes Carlos’ version of the story. He finds Carlos a dedicated and upstanding professional who should be reinstated to his position in the hospital.

Fernanda and Don Fer are in his bedroom, having a good time, enjoying each other’s company, until Camila arrives. Fer leaves the two alone.  He’s in full possession of his faculties at the moment. Don Fer urges her to do the right thing. She should be ashamed to be ruining a young man’s career just because he doesn’t love her the way Cam would like him to. Don Fer wants her to go to the hospital right away and confess it was all a lie she made up.

Blanca uses her wiles to learn where Pedro is. She listens to Fer’s end of her call to the clinic asking for Javier Farias. Her father, Pedro Perez is his patient. Blanca asks for the name of a psychiatrist for Don Fer. It might help him with his memory problems. Innocent Fer gives her Jay’s name and the address of the clinic and Blanca swears them to secrecy (from Mariana).

Jay hands Carlos the opinion he just read to the board members and tells Carlos now they can fight for Fer on equal grounds. He told Carlos he doesn’t play dirty. Carlos meanwhile, has been thinking that if they hadn’t been in love with the same woman, they could be friendly colleagues.

Macias welcomes Carlos back on board. Carlos apologizes to Jay for doubting his professionalism. They seem to accept each other as friendly rivals. While they are talking, there is a disturbance at the door and Camila works her way around a security guard who is trying to detain her. She comes face to face with Carlos. Camila does the right thing. She tells Carlos and the doctors in the room that she made up the whole story of seduction. She’s in love with Carlos, but he never touched her. She asks Carlos to forgive her, maybe some day. Carlos says it’s better just to forget it. It was a misunderstanding. The guard ushers her out.

Blanca shows up on the clinic grounds and call out for Pedrito. Pedro is overcome with emotion and hugs and squeezes Blanca. He’s so happy to see her after all these years. He changes his tenor when he learns Fer is still working at the house. Blanca swears she’ll look after her and make sure she won’t come to any harm. Blanca can tell there is something else bothering him. Yes, he doesn’t want Fer to learn Luis Montero is her biological father. Blanca says not to worry about it. In fact, Amelia is protecting her. She told Luis their daughter died at birth.

Blanca begs him to see Amelia, talk to her. If not for Amelia, for Fer. She tells him how repentant Amelia is and how much she needs him. She suffered so when she thought he was dead. She would like him to facilitate a reconciliation between mother and daughter. For everyone’s benefit, the three of them need to be a family again. Pedro seems to be unsure.

Blanca urges him to leave Fer at the house. She’s working so hard to help get Pedro out of the clinic. She’s taking care of Don Fer. This upsets Pedro but she says he doesn’t even know Fer is his grandchild. He suffers from Alzheimer’s and he probably hasn’t much time left to live. Pedro agrees, but asks two things of Blanca. 1) Fer is never to learn he’s not her biological father and 2) never speak to him again about Amelia. He tells Blanca that Amelia is dead to him.

Mariana is gloating that she doubled the dosage of the pills for her father the day before. This should start having an effect this very night. He should start getting worse. It was so easy to hand over the medication to the girl, easier still to be able to blame her if something goes wrong. Mariana finds Fer away from Don Fer’s room and sends her back. She tells Fer he is never to be left alone, whether he’s awake or asleep.

Fer goes back in to Don Fer’s bedroom and picks up a paperback. (It looked like a John Grisham title.) Don Fer wakes up and sees Fer, but thinks it is Amelia. He becomes quite melancholy. Fer reminds him of his daughter, not Mariana, the other one. The one he lost because of his anger and rage. He’s distraught he may never find her to ask forgiveness. Fer realizes him memory has failed him again. He begs her to help find them. Fer tries to calm him down. She agrees to help.

Don Fer asks Fernanda if she thinks he’s a bad person. It tears (as in rips) her up when he asks that if Fer had a grandfather like him, would she be proud of him? Her heart goes out to this suffering old man. Then he tells her he would love to have a granddaughter like Fer, kind, sweet and loving. Fer is overwhelmed. They are both tearing up as she sits next to him. Mariana breaks up this intimate, yet strange moment. She yells at Fer for making Don Fer cry. He says it’s not her fault. He’s an old crybaby, full of nostalgia.

Mariana orders Fer to take the rest of the afternoon off. She immediately calls Luis and tells him she needs to see him right away. As soon as he has arrived, he starts taking offending pot shots at Mariana regarding her starting something with Lozórsano. No, one Ignacio Ordóñez was nosing around trying to learn what Luis had to do with Amelia. He curses Iggy and swears he’s going to get rid of the guy once and for all. Mariana is quite taken aback by the force of his conviction.

Fer stops in to see Jay on the way to visit Pedro. She finds out he had a visitor from the past. Fer guesses it was Lupe. They hurry out to find Pedro. (Fer admits that Paulina Goto has a head cold.) Pedro tries to slide around who his visitor was, explaining she was someone from the way, way past. Fer wonders how she would know he was here. Without skipping a beat, Pedro blames his sister Rosaura for having loose lips. Pedro will get time off for Cesar’s wedding and Jay tells him the clinic board is so happy with his landscaping work they are going to pay him. Sweet music to both Pedro’s and Fer’s ears.

NOTE--
If any one who has not watched Camino and would like to from the beginning:
DirectTV onDemand has all episodes up to #60.
Xfinity onDemand has all episodes up to #61.

Nina has given us a nice list of where our characters are right now. Here it is:
1.Carlos is in a pickle.
2.Isy is still a liar.
3.Camila is just pitiful.
4.Luis is still a lying manipulator.
5.The Sister, Pedro's sister is in a storm. She'd better pray she gets out of it.
6.Hermy has dollar signs on the brain.
7.Mariana is just bitter. She needs some sugar. (Any takers? Hermy, Luis? No?) Ok writers help the girl out. Mariana has dialed back her fury and says quite friendly, "For Better or Worse the two of us are aunt and niece." She was probably dying inside being that nice to Fer.

I’ll add these:
 8. Pedro is getting into the dirt—the real kind--and seems happier now.
 9. Fer can’t make up her mind about Carlos—she wants him, but she doesn’t.
10. Marissa can’t make up her mind about Luis—does she destroy him or not.
11. Lupe is confused by Amelia’s sudden turn-around.

Hi Camino-ites!

I just wanted to drop a quick line to add how, though I can not add anything to your patio (I am ahead of you guys down here, episode-wise), I am REALLY enjoying each of your contributions. It may not be huge, but this is quite a delightful patio here!

And, Anita- you are a goddess. I can not express to you how high my gratitude is to you for your recaps and your general committment to this telenovela and to us all. You have no idea how many times when, through reading your recaps, of episodes I have already seen, I find I understand something more, or realize something that I had missed. You have increased my enjoyment of this already REALLY enjoyable telenovela even MORE, and for that... I THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!

With my best wishes to all, as ever and always... :-)

Stevey--Thanks for the boost. I just finished reading your Up Comings. Good job. I'm already tempted by Vino el Amor, Las Mujeres de Negro and La Candidata, based on your delightful presentation of the summaries.

We left Amelia out of Nina's list. After tonight, I can't see her as anything but a snob. A tea-snob.

Anita, I hope your peonies are ok. The weather has been insane and unpredictable.

I want to give a shout-out to the writers, directors and Mme. Producer for having Camila admit her lie and not having Carlos dismissed just to have the story wander away even further from a Carlos/Fernanda reconciliation. And--it only lasted several scenes in three episodes.

So we have a boda tomorrow. Will Pedro and Fernanda wear T-Shirts?
Does having a boda tomorrow mean that's all there is? It seems lately we've been getting only one boda per telenovela.

Anita,

"A thin, tortured smile comes over Amelia’s face as she hears that (as in it hurts her to smile)" and "Pedro is getting into the dirt—the real kind--and seems happier now" were perfect.

Superb summary.

"Fer can’t make up her mind about Carlos—she wants him, but she doesn’t". Yes. I never thought Fernanda had the same slavish devotion to Carlos. She is intrigued but not enchanted. It is Carlos who is under Fernanda's spell.

"Marissa can’t make up her mind about Luis—does she destroy him or not". Yes! Absolutely! How many more insults and degradation will she have to bear?

Like you, I was very relieved that Camila told the truth. Finally. I fear for her - Hernan's wrath will be swift and terrible.

"Pedro agrees, but asks two things of Blanca. 1) Fer is never to learn he’s not her biological father and 2) never speak to him again about Amelia. He tells Blanca that Amelia is dead to him". This surprised me. No more pining over Amelia! Pedro has now steeled his heart, just as Fernanda has done. I understand why but I hope Amelia will be able to show she has changed and beg his forgiveness. For all of their sakes. I want Pedro to move on with his life without bitterness or rancor. occur.

"The one he lost because of his anger and rage. He’s distraught he may never find her to ask forgiveness. Fer realizes him memory has failed him again". Well, not exactly Fernanda. Don Fer threw his daughter out of the house and cast her out of his life. As he is repentant, so his his daughter.

Nina, I also love your "The Sister, Pedro's sister is in a storm. She'd better pray she gets out of it". Amen.

Anita, your recap is yet another amazing gift. Thank you

Diana

Anita, thank you for another amazing recap! I missed the bit about Fernanda saying she had a head cold. I thought she sounded like she did, and on Friday's episode too.

I love Fernanda's cute little updo with the buns. They've been inconsistent with her hairdos, though. Somewhere on the way from the hacienda to the mental hospital, the buns changed into a ponytail.

I'm so glad that Camila came clean; now she and Fer can be besties again.

Anita thank you. I continue to really enjoy this little show.

"Whether Marissa ever got her tea is not known"

"Javier will not let their personal rivalry affect his professional opinion" So unlike Carlos does

Yeah, Amelia ain't changed

Also worried about Camila when her daddy finds out

If Javier don't git er done then please let Fernanda alone (go away Carlos) and live a little before putting another distraction in front of her. She don't need no man that begs cause that man ain't good enough.

I really don't like Blanca. If she loved Amelia (and Pedro) where the heck has she been for 19 years? Not one clandestine meet up in a McDonald's parking lot for an update? And to ask Pedro to help, is Blanca stoned? Good on Pedro to take a pass, he's gettin better.

Thanks, Anita so much!!

We lost internet service, and the AT&T guy just left.

Pedro's only problem is his clinging to to notion that he is protecting Fer from her bio dad by keeping her in the dark. Maybe when he finds out that everyone knows his dark little secret he can emerge from his tortured situation.

Amelia was really pissy with Marissa, and for no good reason. I consider that something of a sliding back on her road to recovery.

I think Louie the Louse has about as much chance of throwing Marissa and Carlos out of the house as a toad on the road has of standing up to a steam roller.

Camila was great last night. I can't even imagine what it must be to live with a father like Hernan, who is literally willing to pimp her out to achieve his goals. Yuck.

Blanca is treading a very thin path. I wonder if her good heart and sincerity will be able to thread all the needles and bring about a happy reunion of everyone?

I am hoping that Fer will be the one to call attention to the problems with don Fer's meds that Mariana engineered.

Thanks again, Anita.

David

Anita, thanks again for your efforts.

From last week - I actually almost commended Hernan for what he said about Mariana. Yeah, she's an evil bitch - but you made her that way (LOL!) She has been the one taking care of and been by her dad's side this entire time. I'm sure it was selfish and greedy, but she did it just the same. Especially once he became bitter towards Amelia.

tofie - Yeah, Amelia ain't changed. My thoughts exactly! It cements my feelings towards her. Others see remorse, I see bull***! That exchange with Marissa(why?)
You aren't an educated executive. You are like a lot of spoil brats who were put in positions because of nepotism. At least of lot of them were made to get an education and work in other areas. She just went from teenager who graduated high school to unwed/teen mother living in a shack selling food to survive to BossLady?
Where do they do that at?

I think at this point almost everyone is redeemable in my eyes but Amelia. I just can't. Yeah, they can go to jail for their actions (well Mariana is really the only one who truly deserves jail.)

Carlos is a spoiled brat (still love him) but he tries hard and every time he gets rid of a fly that damn rat comes back. Why he let her in? Gluten for punishment. You know she causes trouble, you just put Camila out - why in the hell would you let her walk in the door?

Unfair as it may seem. If I was a hospital administrator and a young doc doing his residency attracted goofball girls showing up like flies and a stepdaddy waving a pistol around in the parking lot I would fire him. It's unprofessional, disruptive and a menace to the staff and patients. If his personal life is a wreck keep it at home, it is not the hospital's responsibility to provide a meeting place for his crazy.

Gosh, folks, I'm beat. I may do the recap but post it tomorrow. I was up much too late last night. Today I took advantage of the sun being out to do some weeding and trimming. Most of my peonies are bowed but not bent. Thank you for asking, Kendra.

Tofie--You're still living in the real world from 8-9. Of course it would be as you say, if it happened at a MedStar hospital or any small town clinic. But it's only a tn, it's only a tn. It's a mantra, remember? It helps get you over the beanie slipping stuff. I mean, who has a physician's office and consulting room on an open verandah? Poor Carlos had no control over Luis showing up with a gun, but he shouldn't have gotten into a shoving match with Luis. It wouldn't be fair to fire him for that alone.

I try to see beyond the unworkable aspects if it's a good story. I mean, who endures 19 years of emotional abuse and is still smiling and in love with the abuser?

I enjoy thinking of a tn as if I were sitting down at a banquet table being served endless different dishes, never knowing what the next one will be. Some "dishes" are really good, some meh, some just awful. But the event was nice!

Tofie, do continue to tell us what you see or feel that's a little off. It often gives us a springboard for discussions.

David--Do you keep a notebook with these plums in them? "I think Louie the Louse has about as much chance of throwing Marissa and Carlos out of the house as a toad on the road has of standing up to a steam roller." That was my first and best laugh of the day.

Kendra--Even in today's world, it helps to have daddies in the right places. But I agree, if she'd been working along side Don Fer or Hermy for a few years, I wouldn't mind her elevation. This is much too sudden. Again--I'll repeat the mantra---- you know, the one above.

I hate to disagree with Diana--Goddess of Wisdom, but I'm also in the "Amelia hasn't really changed" camp. At least, based on what we saw her do in last night's episode to Marissa. She may have reason to hate the woman. But this was not the place or time to show it with such disdain and condescension. Leave that to Luis to do. He does it so well.

Aleta--Fer said something about getting a little sick--she didn't actually say head cold. No doubt about it, P.G. is a trooper. She's had major emotion-wrenching scenes, from angry, frustrated, hurt, in love, sad, sorry and key dialog to go along with them. I certainly admire her spunk, both as Fer and as P.G. By the time this ends, she will OWN the role. Just as my fav Jorge Salinas OWNED Rogelio Montero.

Do you really think Camila and Fer can be best friends again? I think their lives have diverged enough at this point it would be difficult to bring them together again. Especially once Herm finds out what Cam did and they are all seeing each other on a daily basis in the house. Guess we wait and see.

Diana--"I never thought Fernanda had the same slavish devotion to Carlos. She is intrigued but not enchanted. It is Carlos who is under Fernanda's spell." You are so right. She's always been a bit cautious. Especially in the very beginning where things were getting hot and heavy with how much one loved the other. For a 19 year old who had never been in love, or probably never even had a crush on a boy, she certainly treaded the romantic waters well keeping her head above it all. I'm glad he never talked her into having sex in those early days. I'm glad she didn't have to make that choice. No wonder she was devastated when she realized he and Isy had been having sex. And even though there was no baby, Carlos certainly thought there might be...and so, confirmed the sex part for Fer.

As bratty and unreasonable as Camila has been, I really believe they can be friends. They laughed and cried together and with Cam's revelation and true repentance I think this relationship is salvageable. Cam wasnt married to Carlos and they deceived and had an affair. This is different. I'm hopeful. You dont throw away true friendships easily...shes a victim of her money hungry pimp daddy. And yes, I take these tns for what they are, but her stank a** and snobbish attitude put me off as she often does. Her talking about being on Marissa's level is what made me go there. You are not in the same league as the dirt that rubs off her shoes let alone her prestige as a confident knowledgeable business woman. Please! Rant over.

Anita, great recap. Just when I try to give amelia the benefit of the doubt, she just start lickin the toilet again. Marissa had no way of knowing she was an educated woman and people that do custodial work wear uniforms. She can't blame rissa for her sorry life. She made those dumb choices. Only her.

Im glad blanca found pedro and told him some things. But she cannot expect him to try to get back with amelia. Cuz that women hurt that man really badly he emptied his heart out to her and for her and she just stomp on it and spat on it. But he did ok helpin the mother/daughter connection. We'll see how that goes.

I thought mariana and her useless hubby would try and set up fer for overdosing grampa. I really hope that don't work out, shes not good at murder. Ok thats it for now. Thank you Anita. :-)

Nina, I just laughed out loud at "Just when I try to give amelia the benefit of the doubt, she just start lickin the toilet again". What an image that evokes!!

Anita, spring is finally here (?) I say that as I had the heat on last night yet we are expecting temperatures approaching 90 today...I'm glad your flowers have staying power. I'm sure it's due to your magical and dedicated gardening technique.

If you are able to do a recap - wonderful. If not, we look forward to your next with great anticipation!

Diana

Thanks for the recaps and comments - super helpful to me during a busy week when I wasn't able to watch with my full attention. Some random thoughts from what I did catch the past two nights:

I would not be so forgiving of Camila if I were Fer. Be nice to her sure, but I definitely wouldn't trust her again.

I'm with the group that is just done with Amelia. Just an unlikable person for me.

Tofie, I am a Carlos fan but I had to chuckle with your comments and agree that if this were a real hospital in the real world, there would definitely be some HR issues going on with him. I did have to laugh at the show that it all came down to what Javier had to say. Was glad Javier took the high road.

Last night I was enjoying Marissa telling off Luis, but I am a little worried about the line that went something like "I'll die before I take you back." Do not want the anvil for Marissa. She's my favorite lady on this show and I hope she gets a nice, happy, peaceful life in the end after all the deserved anvils come down as they always do in TNs.

As an aside, my daughter is now home from college and was intrigued, so she is binge-watching from the beginning and will watch with me when she catches up. Like me, she started for the shallow reason that we find Carlos to be easy on our eyes, but she's into it now. It's so funny how her comments to me echo what I read on here for each week (she's up to the house burning down part).

Good News! I'm upright and rested. I wrote most of the recap last night. It will be up later today. Stay tuned.

Diana--My gardening techniques are such that once in the ground, they are on their own! I'm like Pedro, though, I do like to get down on my hands and knees and have the feel of the dirt in my hands (and knees and feet and face and hair).

EPISODE #64 (Tue May 23) Pt. 1
Don Fer has a crisis. Blanca, Camila and Mariana come running. They finally call Dr. Carlos. Don Fer has passed out.

Dr. Carlos is lunching happily with Dr. Arteaga until a half-dressed frizzy headed harpy arrives to interrupt the two bros' conversation. She invites herself to sit down with them so she doesn’t have to eat alone, much to Carlos’ silent objections. But Dr. A. is dazzled by the halter top and the prizes it’s holding tightly suspended. He courteously extends an invitation.

Of course (I certainly end up using this a lot--it’s these “circumstantial” run-ins that happen almost regularly), Javier has brought Fer on their first date away from the clinic to the very same restaurant. Fer and Carlos see each other across the room. They can’t peel their eyes off each other. Arteaga busily engages Miss Universe while Carlos broods. Fer broods. She’s so upset she could die, not because Carlos is with Isy, but he’s always declaring his love for Fer and that he has nothing to do with Isy and here she is—with him. He’s a liar. Javier says he doesn’t want her to die on their first time they dine together, so he’s going to order some Tempranillo for her, which is so smooth as it goes down and stays on the palate long after. [Note: I love Tempranillo—check it out on Wiki. I like it blended with Uruguayan Tannat.]

Carlos is again saved by the cell. He jumps up abruptly when he gets the call from Mariana about Don Fernando. He says goodbye to Arteaga and gives him a bro-hug but doesn’t even glance Isy’s way. Arteaga thinks he’s a lucky Joe to have her all to himself.

Don Fer has come around. He says he woke up from a dream and felt dizzy and then found he couldn’t move his legs. Camila suggests the pills may not be helping. Mariana tries to shut her up. Blanca thinks the same as Cam. So does Don Fer. He thinks it’s time for Carlos and Arteaga to check out the pills. Mariana tries to look unconcerned.

Amelia is approving some plans two underlings have brought her. >>FF

Pedro visits a bedridden Adelina. She’s lost the will to get better. She’s afraid. Pedro tells her she’s become very special to him. He asks her to do her part to get better. She doesn’t think she can do it. Her mother put her here and never came to see her. Adelina has just exchanged one jail for another. Why is it, she wonders, that children seem such a bother to their parents. Wise Pedro says that isn’t always true. Parents don’t always know how to be parents, nor children to be children. For some it is a little more difficult. They learn as they go along. He won’t leave Adelina by herself. He’ll help her, but she needs to help herself, too.

Carlos finds Don Fer recovered, but he’s going to give him some new medicine. Don Fer sys enough with the pills. They’re what are making him feel sicker, not better. Mariana tries to keep the pills, suggesting lowering the dosage. Carlos says that’s up to Arteaga. He takes the pills and pockets them to take to Doc. Arteaga.

Camila follows Carlos out and says she’s taking his advice and is going to patch things up with Fer. She’s surprised when he says not to mention Fer’s name to him.

Fer and Jay walk back to the burned out shack. She’s pissed because, well, Wash, Rinse, Repeat about Carlos and Isy. Jay tells her it is clear the two have reconciled and are back together. His advice is to forget about all of it.

Cesar’s attitude is worrying Clarita. Has he changed his mind about getting married? No, not at all, but he has some news that will affect them. He’s been promised a super-job in the States, but he has to cross the border undocumented a couple of days after the wedding. He wants her to stay behind. When he returns, he’ll have enough money to start their own garden business and support a family. Clarita is not completely convinced this is going to turn out right.

EPISODE #64 (Tue May 23) Pt. 2
Ignacio is reading the other document he copped from Luis’ office. Lupe comes in. He tells her it is Don Fernando’s last will and testament. He muses out loud (to Lupe) that Amelia’s daughter, Luisa Fernanda is she so named for Luis Montero and Don Fernando. Is she Luis’s daughter? Lupe hold out under the cross-examination as long as she can and finally whispers, yes, she is. She’s the fruit of youthful passion. Iggy wants to know how Pedro got in the picture. Lupe tells him he stepped up and claimed to be the father when Luis refused to marry Amelia and walked away.

Iggy says the will states he’s leaving his whole estate to Fer. She should be told. Lupe panics. No, that can’t happen. Pedro has always been her father and Amelia promised, make that swore, never to reveal to Fer she wasn’t Pedro’s child (which we all know she already has, but not the putative father’s name). It’s not Iggy’s nor Lupe’s place to break that promise.

Fer is awakened by a serenata. Carlos appears, backed up by some slightly off key mariachi singer and his band. Carlos pleads with Fer to Wash, Rinse, Repeat. She is falling for his charms. She tells him she loves him and seems to be about to tell him she’s willing to be novios again, when Miss Frizzy Haired Harpy shows up screaming that Carlos is hers. Fer will never have him. Fortunately for Carlos and Fernanda, it was Fer’s dream turned nightmare. Fortunately for us we get a lovely couple of kisses from them.

Mariana is raging and pacing around their bedroom while Herm calmly reads the newspaper. He wonders why she let the doc take the pills with him. She couldn’t help it. She rages on. He keeps reading, validating her reasoning every once in awhile. She demands Herm to help her out of this spot. Herm folds the paper and goes to sit on the bed. He told her substituting other pills was dangerous, but as usual, she didn’t listen to him. It won’t be long before they find out she didn’t really want her father to get well. Mariana repeats she needs his help to find an excuse, because if she does down, he goes down, too.

So, Iggy deduces if Pedro and Amelia never told Fer who her biological father was, they deceived her. Lupe says, not deception exactly, better to say they avoided it because Luis Montero never wanted to assume responsibility for the baby. Iggy can see the scenario. Luis left Amelia when he met Marissa and saw himself as living the life of a millionaire. Poor Pedro, poor Amelia. Lupe begs him not to use this information. It would be disastrous to both Pedro and Fernanda. Iggy says that some day she’ll have to know. Lupe answers, yes, but Pedro should be the one to tell her.

Luis, drink in hand, walks around the palatial living room in the grand house on the grand landscaped estate, with a lake, fully functioning water-feature and miniature replica of the hacienda on a mini-island that he lives in, and reflects on his childless life. He has had to pay a high price for his pride and arrogance [Mr. Darcy, you are NOT] to now live so solitarily. Woops, Paco makes an ill-timed entrance. Luis finds out he’s a formerly homeless street/woods child that Carlos picked up and plans to adopt.

Fer finds out what happened to Don Fernando. She had come to ask for the day off to go to a dear friend’s wedding, but she tells Blanca she’ll stay with Don Fernando. Blanca says she’ll take care of Don Fer and urges her to go to the wedding. But first they go to visit and say hi to Don Fer.

Paco and Carlos have breakfast together, chatting amiably. Then Paco asks where Luis is. Carlos is startled by Paco’s naming Luis. How does he know him? Paco tells Carlos he met Luis in this very house [Hmm, Carlos, you need to adjust your own Emilia beanie. Luis and Paco live in the same house. Stranger is how they have avoided each other for so many days.] Paco says Luis told him he was his grandfather. Carlos tells him that man is a bad man, not Carlos’ father, nothing to Paco. He doesn’t want Paco talking to him.

EPISODE #64 (Tue May 23) Pt. 3
Luis is now in a judge’s office “sharing” information about the laws against picking up street children and simply taking them home. Such people in this country think they have the right to do whatever they feel like doing. He, as a humble and respected lawyer, is for upholding the law, even when it touches someone close to him. Since there doesn’t appear to be any adoption proceedings, he urges the judge to do the right thing and issue an order to go pick up the child and place him in an institution where he will be better cared for. He gives the judge the address. He is the perfect personification of Dr. Jekyll.

Don Fer finishes eating. Fernanda begins to talk to him about finding his other daughter, the lost one. He doesn’t remember talking to her about anything like that. He only has one daughter, Mariana. Fer realizes he’s slipped back into lalaland. He says he’s not crazy, the crazy one who’s in an asylum is her father. It’s someone’s invention that he has a grandchild. Where are they getting this idea? Mariana comes running in. Don Fer wants to know who hired this child. Was it Mariana? Fer looks at Mariana, scared this is the end of her job. Mariana sweetly tells her to ignore his ramblings and she should go on to her wedding.

Ignacio urges Lupe to go to her son’s wedding. While she may be against this marriage now, in the future she may regret not being there. He can tell she really does want to go, even though she swore she wouldn’t. Iggy says it’s not too late to change her mind. She decides to go and invites him to go, too. She goes flying out the door.

Luis has turned into Mr. Hyde. He barges into Marissa’s anteroom at the bank and grabs Iggy. He orders him to give him back his documents or he will kill him. Iggy doesn’t flinch. Luis repeats his threat. Iggy says those are strong words in light of the fact he’s lived for so long behind a woman’s skirts (ouch, Iggy, but go on) and ended up cheating on her. Luis says he doesn’t have to assault him, he only has to go to the police with the security video that shows him stealing the documents. He’ll end up in jail without Luis ever having to touch a hair on him. Iggy is unflappable in the face of this Lousy Mr. Hyde.

Iggy says it’s not robbery if he took papers from an office that belongs to the landlady and owner of the office. Luis comes back with it's his office and the landlady is his wife. Iggy retorts, oh, once more he’s hiding behind a woman’s skirts? Luis says not any woman, *his* woman. He has more power and influence over Marissa than a lowly employee like Iggy. Iggy wants to know if he doesn’t get tired of the same discourse. Look who’s still standing there and look who is on the outside of everything.

Luis just can’t let it go. He swears Iggy will end up in jail. He’ll win because he won Marissa once and will easily do so again, because she was crazy in love with him and still is. Luis has his back to the open door and doesn’t see that Marissa has entered the office while he’s in full-court rant. All he has to do is snap his fingers and Marissa will come back to him. He’ll have her eating out of the palm of his hand. Marissa is shaking her head in disbelief at his words. Iggy greets Marissa. Luis stuffs Mr. Hyde back inside his shirt.

Camila stops Fer in the patio of the house. She asks to be forgiven. Fer hugs her. She adores Camila. They reconcile. Cam mentions Fer is a lot more understanding that Carlos. Yesterday he told her that he doesn’t want to hear her mention Fer’s name in his presence.

EPISODE #64 (Tue May 23) Pt. 4
Iggy has left. Luis says to Marissa, all contrite, that things are not the way they seem. That Mr. Nobody is planning a trap for him. Ok, says Marissa, forget everyone else’s story. Tell her how things really are. Luis says he just wanted to scare Ordoñez because of the theft of those documents. She promises, dripping with sarcasm, that if Ordoñez really had something to do with the robbery of the documents—which is not at all certain—she will applaud and be very grateful to Iggy. Luis can’t believe what he’s hearing. She’s always been an upstanding woman. Yes, she answers, has been and is and look how he paid her for her constancy. So, she continues, all he has to do is snap his fingers and she’ll fall at his feet? This is now war and with the same force she once loved him, she now hates him. She’d rather die than come back to him. She’s not going to rest until she finishes with him. She was willing to end things peaceably, but he wasn’t interested. So, if he wants things to end badly, he’ll have it. This is war unto the death.

She snaps her fingers and chuckles as she snaps them again as she tells him to get out of her sight.

Amelia is so busy with work. She’s come home to change and tells Blanca to get her purse. [Without even a *please,* where are your manners, Amelia.] Blanca doesn’t respond right away and Amelia speaks sharply to her. She’s distracted. What’s the matter with her. She finally tells Amelia she knows where Pedro is and went to see him. She doesn't want to tell her the rest because it may upset her. Amelia insists. Unfortunately, Pedro doesn’t want to have anything to do with her. Her fleeting happy smile reverts back to grim looking.

All done, folks. This was a fun episode to recap. I apologize it took so long. I made a loaf of cranberry bread in between writing sessions. It smells wonderful. It's for a friend with an ill husband.

Anita, this was a beautiful breeze on a summer's day. Crisp and refreshing.

You write with kindness and clarity yet with true honesty and insight: "Luis, drink in hand, walks around the palatial living room in the grand house on the grand landscaped estate, with a lake, fully functioning water-feature and miniature replica of the hacienda on a mini-island that he lives in, and reflects on his childless life". Excellent.

"Dr. Carlos is lunching happily with Dr. Arteaga until a half-dressed frizzy headed harpy arrives to interrupt the two bros' conversation" and "But Dr. A. is dazzled by the halter top and the prizes it’s holding tightly suspended" made me smile.

Jav is trying to do the right thing (and largely succeeding)but I wish he'd kept his opinions on Carlos' dinner date to himself. Did he not see Dr. Arteaga? It seems Carlos is doing a good enough job of hanging himself with ill timed actions so sit back Jav until the coast is clear (which it will unfortunately as it's too soon for Carlos and Fer's happily ever after).

“Luis repeats his threat. Iggy says those are strong words in light of the fact he’s lived for so long behind a woman’s skirts (ouch, Iggy, but go on) and ended up cheating on her” said it all! Loved Luis getting caught in mid-rant! Marissa’s” She snaps her fingers and chuckles as she snaps them again as she tells him to get out of her sight” had me grinning ear to ear!

From the land of WTH “Carlos is startled by Paco’s naming Luis. How does he know him?” Don’t they all live in the same house (or am I wrong)?

"Why is it, she wonders, that children seem such a bother to their parents. Wise Pedro says that isn’t always true. Parents don’t always know how to be parents, nor children to be children. For some it is a little more difficult. They learn as they go along". This scene tugged at my heartstrings. Here a lovely young woman yearns for her mother’s support but is left alone and bereft. What IS it about callous mothers on this show??

“ he has to cross the border undocumented... He wants her to stay behind. When he returns...Clarita is not completely convinced this is going to turn out right”… No, neither am I Clarita. Abandon this carelessly crafted plan. Drums of doom are pounding…

“Unfortunately, Pedro doesn’t want to have anything to do with her. Her fleeting happy smile reverts back to grim looking”. I was starting to believe in Amelia’s redemption. I thought she was truly repentant and was going to do everything possible to make amends. Her haughty behavior toward Marissa (whom she knows is completely innocent of any wrongdoing) and her now rather imperious attitude toward Blanca is rubbing me the wrong way. Did she expect Pedro to welcome her with open arms? She must be contrite and sincere (IF he will even see her). Think she is back to square one. I was walking toward her table, hovering in the background, but I’ve walked away. For now.

Anita, I love cranberries (there are many bogs nearby). I'm sure your friend will appreciate the bread.

I have a rare few days off from work and your recap was wonderful and greatly appreciated. Thank you Anita for everything that you do.

Diana

Thank you Anita. I unfortunately missed it last night for a dinner engagement but would love to have seen Marissa snapping her fingers after hearing Luis cocksure rant.

"half-dressed frizzy headed harpy" perfect

Javier is nearly perfect and agree he doesn't have to do a thing and Carlos will drive himself into a ditch.

So like Carlos to believe the law is not applicable to him, bringing the urchin into his momma's home.

Adelina got it worse than Fernanda. Didn't think it was possible.

Hey, Anita, Great as always!!

As you noted, and Diana picked up on, Issy certainly does wear provocative clothing. I don't find such garb to be particularly sexy. I think Carlo's nurse (Graciela?) is much more attractive than Issy without having to expose many square feet of her body in unlikely getups. But, as you noted, it certainly seemed to have an impact on Dr. A.

Boy, they wear out the plot technique where a misunderstood meeting is used by the opposition to maximum advantage.

I had hoped that Amelia was on the road to redemption, but it appears that she still has lots of stuff to work on if she wants to achieve that, and I think she does.

Carlos did an end run around Mariana when he pocketed the pills, which amused me greatly. I just love when they include a totally inept bad person in the lineup of characters. It really tickles me to watch them lurch from failure to failure.

Speaking of inept characters, let's not forget the esteemed lawyer, Louie the Louse. I loved how Iggy just calmly looked down his nose at Luis. I also loved how Marissa kept snapping her fingers at him dismissively/threateningly.

Thanks again, Anita.

David

Thanks Anita. I would love for mariana to get caught, but somethin will come to save her mean but yet again. I wish don fer didn't have Alzheimer's but thats what the writers wrote, so. Maybe they'll give him more lucide moments after all this is tv. Sometimes they bend the medical rules for the sake of the story.

Not likin doc jay, " its clear they've reconciled back together" shut up doc jay. What happened to playin fair? Jerk!!! I was glad to see that was a dream she was havin and not real. poor girl she's got enough to deal with, with her wacky family and a grandfather who doesn't even know she's his granddaughter and if you did he forget it in a few minutes.

See I knew he was going to mess up that adoption, he went to the judge and lied and he supposed to be an upstanding lawyer? really? I knew he was going to make problems for Carlos adopting that little boy. Well we'll see how that turns out. Jerk!!!

Anita thanks again. and that cranberry bread sounds yummy. I love cranberries I wish you could send some through the wires.:-) I hope the neighbors husband gets better, he should with l that delicious cranberry bread. Yummy!!!

Another great recap! Thanks much, Anita.

Do you recall, from episodes back, Carlos and Marissa saying that the house had been willed to Carlos? If so, I wonder why he just can't have Luis evicted from the house?

As for the office, it seems like that would be part of the joint assets, and Marissa wouldn't be able to evict Luis until after the divorce.

Oh, well, beanie time!

Aleta--You are so right about the house. Marissa has had to remind Carlos a couple of times that it was willed to him by his father. The last time she did he stated that it was "ours" meaning his and Marissa's until such time as, well, it becomes Carlos' alone. He's very generous and loves his mother. I wonder why Iggy hasn't counseled Marissa to go ahead and evict him.

One reason may be that she was waiting until she knew for sure whether they were going to resolve the divorce settlement amicably or not. In Monday's episode she offered him half the value of the house in cash to vamoose. Now that she knows he doesn't want to settle things amicably, maybe that will be the next step. I can't wait to see his pitiful few things put out on the street. Of course, he may try to claim some of the furniture should be divided if indeed he contributed anything to the marriage money-wise. I bet he didn't.

Marissa said the building the law office was in is hers and she also picked up all his expenses of running it.

We'd better get that boda tonight!

Nina--I agree with you regarding Paco. How could they even register him in school if he didn't have some kind of identification--or at least a document that said Carlos and/or Marissa are his legal guardians.

P.S. The cranberry bread was a loaf of yeast bread--made in a bread maker, no less. It keeps coming out so yummy I just keep making it. It's sort of like Panettone, the Italian (and Uruguayan) Christmas bread.

David--Another classic quote, "Carlos did an end run around Mariana when he pocketed the pills, which amused me greatly. I just love when they include a totally inept bad person in the lineup of characters. It really tickles me to watch them lurch from failure to failure." Lurching--a visual feast of Mariana's attempts.

Tofie--The way you say it, says it all, "Javier is nearly perfect and agree he doesn't have to do a thing and Carlos will drive himself into a ditch." Carlos started out unblemished and did all the right things with Fernanda and his career. He was too good to be true. Then the Isy Bomb caught up with him and exploded in Fer's face. He's been running around in circles ever since.

Diana--Wow, this is BIG, coming from you! "I was starting to believe in Amelia’s redemption. I thought she was truly repentant and was going to do everything possible to make amends. Her haughty behavior toward Marissa (whom she knows is completely innocent of any wrongdoing) and her now rather imperious attitude toward Blanca is rubbing me the wrong way."

In a way I want to feel something for Amelia, too. She's lived a life of poverty, knowing she didn't deserve it. She has gone from a pampered 19 year-old and suddenly propelled back into that life of privilege and high expectations. Her new job requires that she work with all types of people. She has to re-establish her relationship with Mariana, who now has a rather despicable husband, whose daughter happens to be a friend of Fer's. I can remember all too clearly how she treated her quesadilla stand clients, on whom some of their income depended, offensively.

I guess the way she ordered Blanca around was normal for a little girl. Not so now. Her treatment of Marissa has no explanation other than envy personified--look at me, I'm just as good as you are. Pardon me, but there is a world of difference between what Marissa does and what Amelia is just starting to do.

She does have a lot to learn--and in so little time!

Wednesday's recap is written. I'm putting it to bed. It won't take as long to put it up as it did today.

I love a wedding. It was short and sweet. More tomorrow.

EPISODE #65 (Wed May 25) Pt. 1
Amelia is hearing the news Blanca has brought her regarding Pedro, who wants nothing to do with her. She remembers how he always took care of her. Blanca reminds her she treated Pedro in the worst possible manner. He’s tired of her pain. Amelia begins to remember her version of the relationship with Pedro. She is telling Blanca they went through tough times, but they did it together. That’s not true, Blanca gently reminds her, Pedro did it all alone. And he did it for her and for Fer. Amelia never gave him one minute of peace.

Amelia says she’s right, but she must talk to him in person. Blanca says Pedro is very hurt and it might be better to leave him alone, at least for awhile. Amelia is sure that if she can just talk to him, he’ll listen and see she’s changed and how sorry she is. Blanca tells her his pain was so great he ended up in a psychiatric clinic. Amelia is visibly and genuinely moved. [If she can admit she’s partly to blame, I would believe her. Let’s see.] Amelia says she needs to fix everything she ruined. He *has* to listen to her and forgive her. Blanca doesn’t think that will happen. He won't even see her.

Pedro tries on a sport jacket he’s going to wear to the wedding. It fits nicely over his old T-shirt and torn blue jeans. [At this point, I have to accept this is his signature outfit and he’ll never change—well, he’ll change if it gets too muddy.] Jay comes to get him. He mentions he has a surprise but he won’t tell him until later.

Don Fer is up and feeling much better. He wants that crazy girl out of his house. Mariana finds that funny since he’s the one who insisted on hiring her, but she’s delighted. She will personally take charge of firing her.

Camila and Fernanda are getting ready for the wedding. Cam makes herself up so she can look sexy and provocative. Fer would rather her natural shine come through. They are happy to be best friends again. They share a bestie-hug.

Twin grey outfits are laid out on Carlos’ bed. Freshly showered, Paco wants to know who these costumes are for. [I’m glad to know Carlos uses deodorant, but couldn’t he have done that in the bathroom?] Paco insists on dressing himself, with some assistance for cuffs and shirttails. Paco notes they now really look like father and son. Paco wonders if Fer will be at the wedding. Carlos asks that he not mention her name.

Marissa is waiting for them in the living room and is delighted when she sees the two of them. She looks lovely in a tasteful, full-length, draped black on white print gown, with black trim. Her dark hair is pulled back and her bright red lipstick looks good against her pale skin. [I was waiting for her to start dancing a jota.]

Clarita joins them. She looks shyly happy, dressed in a modest white short gown with a floor-length overskirt of see-thru tulle. Sprays of flowers decorate her hair. Carlos holds out his hands to her.

Cam, Fer, Rosaura and Sor Sonrisa leave for the wedding. SoSo is going to sing Ave Maria. Fer is going to play the violin. Fer is wearing a short, hot pink dress and high heels, and having no trouble walking. Cam is nicely dressed, although her skirt could have been 2” longer.

As the wedding party gets ready to leave, Cesar shows up to show off his new “luke.” He’s shaved off his beard, cut his hair and slicked it back. [I wouldn’t have recognized him. I think I liked the beard and tussled hair.] Everybody tries to hide the bride. Marissa finally convinces him to leave. It is bad luck to see the bride beforehand. He obeys after some missteps from covering his eyes.

Mariana thanked Don Fer for letting her take on managing the servants in the house. She thinks that girl should never have been hired. She might have let something happen to him and he’s the most important person for her. She’ll get him the best nurse after she fires Fernanda Perez.

EPISODE #65 (Wed May 25) Pt. 2
Amelia is still begging Blanca to convince Pedro to let her talk to him. At least tell her where he is. Blanca says she promised Pedro not to tell her. She’d lose his trust and cause him more displeasure. Amelia continues to beg. [I’m beginning to think she wants this more to salve her own conscience. Blanca has already said several times it would cause him more pain to see her.]

Cesar has a few minutes alone in the church before the ceremony. He’s sad his mother won’t be attending his wedding. But she does. He and Lupe have a joyous, tearful hug. He asks for her blessing. She gives it.

Mariana is now in Luis’ new office hectoring him. She learns that the original will of Don Fer’s was taken from his law office, by none other than Ordoñez. Luis has security video as proof. He tried to get it back by threatening Ordoñez, but wasn’t successful. Mariana thinks it’s dangerous to have that document floating around out there. It leaves them in danger of being exposed. They also have the problem of the pills. Mariana tells Luis about Carlos taking them away from her and it won’t take long to discover the substitution for other pills.

Mariana has the great idea to go to the house and go through Carlos’ things. Luis says it might be possible, since everyone has gone to the servant’s wedding. They arrive on the Q.T. They think they are alone, but one of the caterers stop them. Luis explains they are guests without invitations because they are from out of town and the invitations didn’t reach them. It’s too late to go to the church. The caterers hurry away thinking the wedding party is returning for the reception.

Mariana goes through Carlo’s room and finally finds the bottle of sleepy-time pills and quickly puts the real prescription back in the bottle and replaces it in the jacket pocket. She takes off back to the living room where Luis is waiting and stewing, drink in hand.

Don Fer finds Blanca. He tells her that the girl who was supposed to take care of him is crazy. She probably got it from her father. She’s been inventing a story about a missing daughter and granddaughter he wants to find. Mariana is going to fire her because he doesn’t want crazy people around him. Blanca doesn’t know what to say or do. She follows him out for a walk in the garden.

As the guests approach the church, Carlos arrives with the wedding party. He sees Fer. She sees him. Their gazes meet. He’s so fine.

Carlos walks Clarita up the aisle and gives her to Cesar. The ceremony proceeds without incident. As Sor Sonrisa sings, who should appear but Isabela, unfashionably late for a wedding, dressed in some hoochie coochie get-up she’s popping out of. The deep royal blue color is lovely and goes with the frizzy blonde hair. Cam sees her. Isy stays at the back of the church.

Carlos’ eyes find Fer’s eyes and they lock onto each other. Fer looks sadly and longingly at him. Carlos smiles gently at her and blinks his baby blues. Mama Mía he’s so fine.

The service is over and Lupe is the first to congratulate her son. Lupe even hugs her new daughter-in-law. Carlos moves quickly to Fer’s side and takes both her hands in his and kisses her sweetly on the cheek. He says something about her being the madrina--it wouldn’t have mattered what he said, they’re just drinking each other in. Jay watches the exchange, so does Isabela.

Outside, the new couple is greeted by their friends. Marissa is hosting a reception at her house. Carlos finds Fer again and walks up to stand close to her. Pedro gives Fer and Carlos the stink eye and Fer backs away from Carlos. The nuns leave, Jay leaves, Pedro leaves, but Fer and Cam go to the reception.

EPISODE #65 (Wed May 25) Pt. 3
Luis and Mariana are about to make good their escape when in walks Ignacio. He’s surprised to see Luis in the company of Amelia’s sister. Luis reminds him he’s the dueño [master] of this house. Iggy corrects him, he’s the kept man of the mistress of the house. Mariana tells them to dial it back before it gets out of hand. Mariana explains she’s there to speak to Marissa about a business matter. Iggy snorts, she comes precisely when Marissa isn’t at home. Mariana says she didn’t know that. Marissa walks in at that precise moment with Carlos and Paco. They come to a standstill by who they see there. In the most tone-neutral voice, Marissa greets Mariana. Luis repeats why they are there, to discuss a project that will require financing, maybe through her bank.

Marissa tells Mariana it is Iggy’s area of expertise and sends them to the study to talk about it. All this time, Carlos’ temperature gauge has been rising. He tells Marissa that of all days, he doesn’t want this tipo in the house to ruin the festivities. Marissa asks him to calm down. She’ll go talk to them.

The reception is in full swing. Clarita needs to be pinched to make sure she’s not dreaming. He complies, for real. Finally, amid all their joy he has to tell her he’s leaving for the States in 2 days, that is to say tomorrow night.

Carlos is only alone for a second when Cam and Fer walk in the house, followed stealthily by the Blue Meanie. Carlos’ eyes are for Fer alone. He wants to know if they can talk. She nods yes.

Mariana, meanwhile, is asking Iggy about the bank’s help. He tells her quite frankly that this is neither the time nor place to talk business. He suggests she call his secretary on Monday and make an appointment. However, he tells her not to bring Luis Montero with her or her chances for the financing are nil. Luis is insulted, but says Iggy is insulting Mariana. Iggy says they are insulting him by thinking he’ll fall for their little story of needing financing. He tells Mariana that he knows Luis is involved in something shady, just as he’s been doing his whole career and he’s sorry she’s mixed up in all this. The two men trade some more insults, with Iggy getting in the best of them. Marissa enters and asks if they’re finished. After a few nasty comments Luis takes his leave and Mariana follows.

Isabela has called her sister Carolina to show up at the reception. Once there, Caro wants to know what for. Isy will tell her. That schoolgirl is with Carlos and she must be humiliated in his eyes. Caro wonders why since he’s not her novio, he’s her ex-novio. Isy says regardless and proceeds to tell her what she wants her to do.

Carlos and Fer have walked away from the crowd. He tells her how happy he is to have her in his house, be with his novia, the woman he loves. Fer reminds him they are not novios. He says it’s only because she doesn’t want to. He knows she was watching him during the ceremony. Those tears, they were for the two of them, weren't they, because they are apart. If they love each other, why are they separated? Why can’t they get back together and be happy. He asks her to forgive him.

Their conversation is interrupted by Isy who presents Caro to him. She acts like she doesn’t know him (but didn’t she see him with Fer at their graduation and later at the beach). Caro greets Fer and insults her by mentioning her job as a servant in Cam’s house. Fer stalks off. Carlos follows immediately. Over his shoulder he congratulates Isy on her sister--good education. Caro hopes Isy is satisfied with her performance. She’s already lost Carlos. If any one is to blame, it is she.

EPISODE #65 (Wed May 25) Pt. 4
Jay and Pedro are back on the hospital grounds. He tells Pedro he wasn’t able to fulfill his promise to keep Fer and Carlos apart. Pedro should start getting used to the idea that they love each other. Pedro declares he will never accept their relationship. Then Jay gives him the good news (his surprise, I guess). He’s being released the next day. He has to return for regular sessions with Jay, but the hospital director thinks he’s ready to be on his own. Pedro is ecstatic.

Blanca is telling Amelia that Don Fer is back in lalaland. He doesn’t remember anything. He thinks Amelia is dead. Mariana pipes up saying that’s what his heart desires. Amelia ignores her statement while the two sisters figure out ways to help him. Mariana tells Amelia the best medicine is for Amelia and her daughter to pack up and leave. Amelia says she will never leave her father alone. She’s going to get a lawyer. Mariana sneers. She assumes it will be Luis Montero. Amelia says she assumes wrong. She feels absolutely nothing for Luis, while on the contrary, Mariana feels something for him, doesn’t she? Amelia notices Herm come in behind Mariana. She asks Mariana if she is still in love with Luis as she was from the first day she laid eyes on him. Mariana doesn’t answer. From behind, Herm tells Mariana to answer. The unhappily married pair just look at each other.

The festivities continue. Marissa turns to see a woman in a business suit approach with two men.

Fer is telling Carlos she’s upset by Carolina’s insult. She wonders how she knew about her job. Carlos says she could have learned it anywhere. He tells her to forget it. She wants to know about the Wash, Rinse, Repeat cycle with Isy. He explains again she means nothing to him. He says, “Let’s talk about us. How long are you going to make me suffer not having you. Please forgive me, forgive me for the lies, the deception, the cowardice. Let’s be together again.” Fer tells him about her serenata dream and how they got back together. He pinches her lips closed, the way he did the day she showed up at his house and talked a blue streak. So, does that mean they are novios again? She finally nods. He takes his fingers away. She tells him she loves him. They share some pretty hot kisses (as Paulina Goto sings the theme song and the credits roll).

Anita, I look as forward to your recaps as I do the show each day.

The writers and your marvelous recaps set the bar higher each successive day.

"Pedro tries on a sport jacket he’s going to wear to the wedding. It fits nicely over his old T-shirt and torn blue jeans. [At this point, I have to accept this is his signature outfit and he’ll never change—well, he’ll change if it gets too muddy" was my favorite. Pedro does not aspire to be a fashion icon, does he? I am happy every time I don't see a hole in his t-shirt. That seems to be the only progress in wardrobe upgrqding.

Also enjoyed "it wouldn’t have mattered what he said, they’re just drinking each other in" and "tone-neutral voice".

"Blanca tells her his pain was so great he ended up in a psychiatric clinic. Amelia is visibly and genuinely moved. [If she can admit she’s partly to blame, I would believe her. Let’s see.] Amelia says she needs to fix everything she ruined. He *has* to listen to her and forgive her. Blanca doesn’t think that will happen. He won't even see her".

Anita, I agree with your comment in wanting to see Amelia's response. I'm torn because it appears she admitted everything was her fault. However, Pedro does not have to listen to her. She still hasn't learned that forgiveness is rarely automatic upon hearing "I'm sorry". What is her plan to atone? I'm anxious to see.

“Paco wonders if Fer will be at the wedding. Carlos asks that he not mention her name”. Carlos was simply stupid. I loved the father/son outfits though and smiled through this scene.

Loved Marissa’s “luke”. I would buy her elegant caftan in a NY minute. Clarita looked nice but her dress was not my taste (short or long I say). You may be able to have your wedding cake and eat it too, but trying to have both styles in the same dress is a different matter.

At first, I smiled seeing Cesar seeing his bride but then I remembered his brain addled plan to sneak into the US and the smile faded…

"The unhappily married pair just look at each other". Amelia, I’m still ticked at you but thank you for that.

Amelia is an enigma. She is still speaking (granted, sparring but still talking) with her sister who by her own admission not only lied to her, but tried to burn Amelia's daughter and husband alive. Amelia is missing a sensitivity chip and more but perhaps that makes her a more formidable foe for Mariana.

"Marissa turns to see a woman in a business suit approach with two men". Now what??? Ack.

Anita, thank you for heightening the excitement and enjoyment of this wonderful show.

Diana

Thanks, Anita. Great job!

I don't hear very well, so I use the Spanish CCs to understand what's going on, but even at that, I often miss nuances, and so your efforts help so much. If they are well done, the CCs help me a lot. This show's producers or whoever is responsible for arranging the CCs have just been super.

I thought it was so gracious of Marissa to host the wedding reception. She is such a classy lady.

Luis the bottom feeder seems to be on everyone's radar. I love how Iggy doesn't get mad or physical, but just looks down his nose at Luis and throws in a few verbal jabs.

Oh, man, Mariana actually pulled off that switcheroo with the meds? Damn.

Cesar is leaving tomorrow night? Not much of a honey moon. I hope his illegal entry into the U.S. is the only thing he is doing wrong, and that this well paying job that he is looking forward to doesn't involve carrying drugs or something. I'd hate to see him wind up in jail.

Carlos and Fer are back together? I wonder how long that will last.

Thanks again, Anita.

Hi all, I have been busy painting my stair well so have not been able to fully watch the tn with rapt attention. I have been reading the recaps (Bravo Anita) but don't feel qualified to fully add to discussion w/out really watching closely. I will say that I'm still pissed at bitchy bangs. What a right on snob she was to Marissa acting all high and mighty now that she's sitting in her Dad's office. What was all of that about the great Sumatra she had delivered and the great tea? She have all the exotic coffee and tea she wants delivered and she'll never be elevated to the refinement and grace that Marissa exudes. Amelia needs to take her davey crocket boots and vest and sit her low rent hiney right down. UGH! She grates my nerves. I will say that she does a great winged liner on those pretty eyes of hers. There...see ya'll I can be nice.

Anyway, I hope to do a marathon watch tonight in bed with a great wine. It probably won't be as great a bottle as bitchy's but whatever since she's so refined and all. Pfft.

Right..I'm off then to get painting. Sending muchisimo hugs to you all my patio pals! ;-)

Oh Delilah, you are so right! That scene was so ridiculous! I had to LOL at Amelia offering Marissa some of her new wonderful English tea hahahaha!!! She acted like a spoiled brat. Does she really believe that with attitudes like this she will ever be elevated to Marissa's level? Honey, you are not sitting in this office because you earned it but because you are la hija de papi. Just look at this classy lady and start imitating her and at some point you may learn how to behave, OK?

Thank you Anita for another great recap! I also wonder how long Carlos and Fer's happiness will last this time.

A few things because I've been late reading the recaps so i haven't commented but i dont want to forget...

Marissa snapping at Luis funny as hell!

Anita - i too prefer Ceaser with beard and tusseled hair.

He's so fine - I agree.

Thanks Anita

Anita I enjoy your recaps more than the actual episode. Girl you got the touch. Now, predro really need to let it go, cuz fer and carlos are writen in the tn stars. He'll never except their relationship. Will someone please tell this man he is no Kin to the louse named Louy. Maybe since he's about to be released somebody will.

When I saw that lady dressed to the nines like the grim reaper in her gray suit, darn that louy the louse. And wheres
The hot guy? Lockin lips with the fiddler. Paco's future mum.

Isy comin to church dressed like hoochy moma jesabel. Was she even invited? Does she even know the happy couple? Or care to? No!!! Shes just there to annoy people. As her snoby lil sister let her know she losed carlos. She need to just Let it go. And that was a sorry insult, and such a stupid idea to do it anyway.

I don't know if amelia has changed all that much. I guess that was an admittance that she caused all that trouble. She gotta do better than that. She did alot of ruinning.

Ok thats it for now. Lookin forward to the next recap Anita. Many Many Many Thank-Yous!!!!
