Sueño de Amor (SdA) #71. Tuesday June 21, 2016. My Internet Keeps Cutting Off. It's Telling Me Not To Watch.

How do you like them guns? I got mine by drinking copious amounts of Lala Milk and living at the gym!

Hello Patio Pals! We’ll have to make do with a quick summary until a volunteer takes over this recapping spot.

Ricardo saves Estrella from Jabba the Hutt (whose dubbed-over voice continues to make him sound like a detergent commercial). Once again, poor Baxter does all the work and Tricky Ricky and la Virgencita get all the credit. It is worth noting that all the thugs present during Estrella's rescue were very cooperative with Ricardo. All he had to do was talk them into surrendering their guns.

Cristina is so worried sick about her lost daughter's welfare and so eager to locate her that she rejects Irene's suggestion to enlist Ricardo's help. Wow! This makes perfect sense! I am not a mother but if somebody kidnapped my imaginary child, I wouldn't hesitate for a nanosecond to turn to the Devil himself for help.

Viviana sees right through Silvana's redemption act but she keeps her thoughts to herself. Silvana secretly vows to sabotage Viviana and Mario's burgeoning romance.

Even Margarita and Salma are sick of Kristel's snivelling. Princess Confundida continues to cry over Pedro, while she carries on thinking about Erasmo and lamenting the fact that he is now interested in Pato.

Anastasia visits Casa Guerrero to spew her venom and to threaten Pato that she will keep harassing her until she breaks up with Luca

Kracy keeps talking to the poisonous frog who is too dumb to land on her face and kill her.

Ernesto warns Murillo that betrayals will not be tolerated and orders him to murder Kracy. Ernesto wants to give Kracy a taste of her own medicine (darle una sopa de su propio chocolate). The plan is as follows: Kracy puts the Golden Poison Frog, otherwise known as Phyllobates terribilis, in Ricardo's bed. Ricardo croaks. Murillo forces Kracy to touch the venomous amphibian. Kracy croaks. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Killing two annoying birds with one stone (matar dos pájaros de un tiro). I'm liking Ernesto more and more these days.

As it turns out, Anastasia didn't emerge fully formed from a swamp, on some God-forsaken planet, in a galaxy far far away. She was engendered by a human mother and that mother has just passed away.

Erasmo confesses to Ricardo that he is madly in love with Pato, for no reason whatsoever other than further dumbing down his character. Ricardo recounts how he loved Esperanza for 20 years without making the slightest effort to be with her and how he was devastated for a full 3 and a half days after she called off their wedding. Erasmo, the fountain of wisdom and relationship advice, suggests that Ricardo get involved with another woman to forget Esperanza, since the Spanish saying goes: One nail drives out another (un clavo saca otro clavo). Evidently, whoever came up with this saying was never burnt on a rebound.

Viviana visits Casa Guerrero with a platter of tea biscuits to update Esperanza about the land sale, only to be received with a barrage of whining from Pato. What suegra would tolerate a daughter-in-law like this? Anyway, Esperanza learns that she won't receive the money from the land sale until the transaction is finalized, which will take approximately 3 months. Esperanza is crushed by the news. A smoking hot male specimen is swooning at your feet and putting his entire fortune at your disposal to ensure you get the best medical care in the world! Take Ernesto's money, Esperanza!

Ricardo goes to Ernesto's place to pick up the rest of his children's belongings. Ernesto tells him that it's odd to see in his house a dead man walking.

Anastasia pulls a baby out of nowhere and shows up at Luca's door with it. The baby says: Luca, I am your son!

A quote from the capítulo

“Tú debes de ser Anastacia. Perdón, no te reconocí con la ropa puesta.”

*Esperanza greets her unwanted visitor: “You must be Anastasia. Sorry, I didn’t recognize you with your clothes on.” Oh snap!

Your viewing vocabulario
(these definitions are context-specific, unless otherwise indicated)

darle (a alguien) una sopa de su propio chocolate = Lit. “To give (someone) a soup of his/her own chocolate”, i.e. to give someone a taste of his/her own medicine.
matar dos pájaros de un tiro = to kill two birds with one stone.
un clavo saca otro clavo = Lit. “One nail drives out another”. This saying encourages one to get romantically involved with someone new as soon as an old relationship ends.

Thank you for the pleasure of your company. Please join us again for the next capítulo. We’ll be saving you a seat!

Hellow Amigowz! Sorry for the tardiness but I've been experiencing some technical difficulties today. Unfortunately, Kinomathematika has bowed out of her recapping duties so the Tuesday summaries are back, I'm afraid.

I shall provide more details about the episode once I get a chance to watch it.

Thank you for your understanding! Enjoy the discussion! :)

Nandicta, I have to tell you, I laughed out loud when I read the title.

This was short and sweet and your "The baby says: "Luca, I am your son!" and "Jabba the Hut" were terrific.

Wow! I must admit I was impressed by Ricardo's guns. And the pistols were impressive too :) The man is handsome and ripped and it's rather a shame his physical hawtness is being overshadowed by the many shades of grey, Ernesto...

Now I thought I missed only a minute or two but was totally lost as to how Ricardo tracked down Estrella so quickly (and jeez, just in the nick of time it appears). The actress did extremely well, crying as though her heart were broken. Off topic, it always disturbs me when children cry so realistically. I keep praying it's simply from imagination and fatigue and not any personal experience.

So Ernesto put a hit out on Tracy, is that right? If so, he definitely side steeped over the path to redemption and is headed in the wrong direction.

Did anyone else think Tracy's creepy crawlers were going to escape during her bedroom romp? I'm lost also - who is the man she was with?

Ernesto and Pato had a platonic conversation. His "I have no chance with her" assertion to Ricardo is making me wonder if just the reverse is true. Now that the darling baby has arrived on the scene, I sense (yet another) Pato and Luca break up and a possible roadblock being removed for forward Erasmo/Pato motion. If Luca is the father, is there any possibility Anastasia and Luca could end up together??

Still not sure why Marjorie deSouza is here. She's hanging around not doing much but sobbing over her child.

Was happy Estrella was rescued and the reunited fam (Erasmo, Kiko and Estrella) had a warm group hug. I wish Erasmo would move them somewhere else.

Diana

I will wait until after 15:30 to enjoy the full recap but I will mention this three things I noticed and I thought it was worth noting.

This episode brought to you by NESTLE GASTRO.
Viviana is suffering some gastric reflux due to all the excitement and surprises she has in her life (let's call them Silvana), so Eufro recommends Nestlé Gastro, MMMMM, just like Pepto Bismol, only in Vanilla flavor!!

In México, in wakes that take place in people's homes, it is usual to place a container with sliced onions in water to absorb any bad smells the dead body could release.

In México, we call those plastic sandals Kiko was wearing ''patas de gallo'', so when he says that he is going to perform a magic trick and conjures the words ''abracadabra'', instead of saying the right phrase, which is ''patas de cabra'', he says ''patas de gallo'' and we see his toes wiggling.

Tech problems!! They are such a pain. It was just my computer last week. I can commiserate. Tuesday summaries are just fine by me. As a matter of fact, your summary is fine just the way it is. Loved the title.

At least Estrella got freed.

Luca still getting calls and texts from Anastasia.? I can understand why Pato would be pissed. Does the fool not know he could have blocked her calls and texts as well as get a restraining order against her. Then again, Pato and Esperanza should have called the cops as soon as Anastasia darkened their door.

Looks like Anastasia's baby could be the last straw for Pato and Luca. Well, Anafstasia did say something like with the death of her mother things were going to change forever. TheFIRST thing on Luca's mind should be a DNA test.

The Guerrero's have to stop their annoying collective whining already. Will Esperanza quit moaning about the martyr role she created and executed? I am so sick of her.

Cristina is there probably just so Ricardo can send Baxter to find her dead/not dead? daughter and as everyone here has mentioned in other cases, take the credit for it.

I wish Ricardo would just go back to being the super duper secret agent. At least that gave me something to laugh about.

I hope Tracy has an early spidey induced exit.

Diana, Erasmo and Pato might be good together. Neither thinks very much. I would love for "non traditional" couples like Esperanza and Ernesto; Luca and Anastasia; Pato and Erasmo, etc. to end up together.

No show tonight! Hey! Hey!

Also, thank you, Nandicta, for the summary as well as taking on the responsibility of doing a Tuesday summary. It is appreciated.

Thanks, Nandicta!

Too bad Mr. Big Guns turned out to be a Goofus rather than a Gallant. Oh, well...maybe Baxter can be the new galan. Competence and quick results? Swoon!

Jarifa, "Erasmo and Pato might be good together. Neither thinks very much". HA! Big smile.

You know, I think you are on to something. Looks like Erasmo is destined to be stuck with a whiner though no matter what happens. I hate to say it but I think Pato even mewls more than Kristel.

I'm still rooting for Espe and Ernesto.

Diana

Diana, me, too.

Hi again! A more complete summary is now up! Apologies for the delay.

Diana, "The man (Ricardo) is handsome and ripped and it's rather a shame his physical hawtness is being overshadowed by the many shades of grey, Ernesto...". Tricky Ricky is so flaky and unreliable that it neutralizes his physical attractiveness, as far as I'm concerned. Cris de la Fuente adds an extra-layer of arrogance and obnoxiousness to his character that makes Ricardo even more unbearable. I also think that he went overboard with weight training routine (and supplementation). I preferred his leaner and less muscly appearance in "Amor Bravío". His character and the story were much better and he was surrounded by a wonderful cast that enhanced his work tremendously. Without the acting powerhouses that shared credits with him in "Amor Bravío", Cris de la Fuente looks like what he truly is, a less-than-average actor with a pretty face and a nice bod.

I know you'll disagree with me because you want to see Ernesto redeemed but I actually like Ernesto better now that he plans to have Kracy whacked. I can't stand her anymore. She is becoming more unbearable than Kristel. To answer your question, the man who visits Kracy is Dionisio, an old colleague of hers who procured her the poisonous frog. I don't understand why he is still in the picture now that his job is done. Maybe he is one of Osorio's compadres who needs an acting gig.

Pablo, many thanks for sharing your observations with us. Once again you have a keener eye than mine and you tend to notice a lot more details. I especially enjoyed the info about Mexican wakes and the "patas de gallo" and "abracadabra"/"patas de cabra" wordplay.

Thanks, Jarifa! Tech problems are the worse, especially when you know that there are people waiting on the recap and you can't even notify them that you are having issues. Still, this patio is the best and everyone is so very friendly. You're getting a break tonight, so enjoy!

Yours and Diana's questions about the purpose for the Cristina character are spot on! I've been asking myself the same question since she showed up. Why is she there? What does she add to the story? Nothing, as far as I'm concerned. She is pretty to look at, that's about it. Personally, I find Esperanza and Irene much more beautiful, but that's me. Viviana is just lovely and Silvana is very pretty when she quits distorting her face. So there is plenty of eye candy among the women (and the young girls of this show), why include Marjorie de Sousa as well? I don't get it. Maybe Osorio wants to give his insipid galán an equally insipid galana to make fast-forwarding easier for us viewers? Maybe!

"I wish Ricardo would just go back to being the super duper secret agent. At least that gave me something to laugh about." Hahaha! I know, right? Can we also have La Sombra back? I'd rather have La Sombra and Triana back, teaming up to make Ric's life miserable than bland Cristina with her lost kid, psycho hubby and runaway shelter friends.

Julia, Baxter is a much better galán than Ricardo could ever hope to be! I just hope poor Baxter makes alive to the end, seeing how every person Tricky Ricky befriends ends dead!

Diana, I omitted to answer one of your questions: "Now I thought I missed only a minute or two but was totally lost as to how Ricardo tracked down Estrella so quickly". A certain comandante from, I assume, the Tamaulipas Police called him to let him know that they saw Estrella going into the hotel and sent him its location. I'm 100% sure that this high-ranking police officer got in touch with Ricardo thanks to Baxter's excellent investigation work.

You're right! Kracy has always the little trap door to the frog open. I was also wondering why she is not afraid that the frog might jump, after all, venomous or not, is still a frog.

When Iker told Ricardo his last wish, was to start from scratch and forget Esperanza. Now Erasmo is telling him the same, for me, that the writers are trying to justify the 3 and a half mourning days Ricardo cried before going up in hate (only to fall in love later on) with Crispina.

Thanks, Nandicta, for the entertaining recap. Yup, Little did we know that LaSombra was going to end up being a "high(er)" point in this production.

Pablo: "Crispina" is just perfect! Maybe the frog will hop and hit Tracy in the nose. Now that would be funny.

OT:

Ginny Hoffman, who plays Begonia, has been a comedian since she was a little girl and worked along many other child stars like Lucerito, etc. in a show called CHIQUILLADAS. There, she had a segment where she parodied Cristina Saralegui's show, with the name of Crispina. It was a ''homage'', LOL!

Thanks for the extra info, Pablo. it sure makes it more interesting.

You're welcome.
See you all tomorrow around this time at the patio with episode 72.

Your in depth summary was wonderful Nandicta.

"I am not a mother but if somebody kidnapped my imaginary child, I wouldn't hesitate for a nanosecond to turn to the Devil himself for help", "Kracy keeps talking to the poisonous frog who is too dumb to land on her face and kill her" and "As it turns out, Anastasia didn't emerge fully formed from a swamp, on some God-forsaken planet, in a galaxy far far away. She was engendered by a human mother and that mother has just passed away" were among many more favorites.

Vivi may be shrewder than I gave her credit for, seeing through Silvana's not at all contrite demeanor. Mario just looked like he was gobsmacked and was in total shock (poor guy).

"Killing two annoying birds with one stone (matar dos pájaros de un tiro). I'm liking Ernesto more and more these days". Well, I'm sad that it appears Ernesto is still trotting down the wrong path. He is a bit of an enigma - so kind and gentle with Espe yet so angry and vengeful toward his enemies.

There are so many wonderful possibilities in terms of couples, I will be very upset if everything goes back to "square one" - Espe and Ricardo/Luca and Pato/Kristel and Erasmo...

Diana

OT: Diana, was "Tres veces Ana " on last night? At 9:00 Uni was doing continuous coverage of thunderstorms/tornados up here in the Chicago area. One of the tournament soccer games was going on and then was put on rain delay for a couple of hours.

Thank you, Nandicta, a quick summary is more than enough to start us talking.
Sadly, I agree with you about Cristian de la Fuente and his work on AB as opposed to here. I loves AB and I loved him in it but there hé had à good production team and much better directors. I think the actors are doing their best with the given material , but only those with actual
talent salvage some of the nonsense they have to play.

Jarifa, YES to the couple switches.
Espe needs to understand that she's fighting for her LIFE and accept Ernie's help already!!
This story changed so much from what it was when it started, that I actually miss the stooges.

Yes, Adriana, this whole thing has turned itself inside out and is completely different from how it originally presented itself. I also agree the actors are doing the best they can.

Since I am not watching this show (but enjoying the snarky recaps and comments), I am still able to enjoy the pic of CdlF and his "guns" that you posted. Hubba, hubba. So glad I am not watching this and having him ruined for me forever. :)

Jarifa, hope the stormy weather in your region has settled down by now. I agree with your frustrations and Diana's regarding the lost opportunities in terms of creating compelling characters and love stories. Had Osorio and the school writing project participants thought about the plot and the characters' psychology and motives for more than a half hour, they would have come up with a more engaging story. Instead, Osorio and his peeps have decided to make things up as they go and the end result is disgusting hogwash with too much syrupy drivel and Crayola dyes to disguise its unappealing nature. This TN is kinda like that Sueño de Amor leftovers icecream, just looking at it makes you gag & nadie lo quiere, ni regalado. (nobody wants it, not even if it's for free).

Viviana did not surprise me because women have a finely attuned "lying b*tch" radar. The surprisingly clueless one is Margarita. She raised Silvana and supposedly knows her inside out. How could she fall for that sudden (and obviously faked) about-face, when just a few days earlier, Silvana was insulting her and swearing revenge on the entire family?

Since this isn't real life and I dislike Kracy with supreme verve, I'm willing to give Ernesto a pass if he sends her to live on a farm upstate (or in Tabasco! :D), where she'll find plenty of doggies, horsies, birdies and froggies to run around with! So long, Kracy!

Adriana, it is with great sadness that I relinquish my Cris de la Fuente groupie badge. Let the record show that Osorio ruined the Bombón Chileno for me, just like Mejía ruined Big Ed Yáñez, whom I can't stand to look at ever since the debacle of "Corazón Salvaje" (2009). :(

Hiya, Vivi! Thanks for popping in to greet us! You dodged a bullet for sure. This clunker would've made you dislike (and probably resent) CdlF. Even his hot body and charming smile no longer have any effect on me. :(

Thank you, Pablo for the info about Ginny Hoffman and the "Crispina" parody show. You always add so many interesting and fun facts! I look forward to reading tonight's recap.
