Tres Veces Ana - Episode 27 - Long episode's journey into the night

I don't know about all of you guys, but I struggled through today's loong episode! I am glad it's my recapping night, else I would have had to put the episode off.

Also, consolidating some scenes below, so don't be thrown off by that!

Creepy Isidro and Rodrigo (Abue's former beau) are discussing the sale of Creesidro's lands. Creesidro did not anticipate selling that soon and wants to wait. Suddenly Ramiro appears and is introduced as Rodrigo's new accountant. Rodrigo asks Ramiro to walk Creesidro to his taxi and then return. The taxist is, as we remember, Santiago. Of course right then, the hotel doorman asks Santi to do a lap around the building and not occupy the space in front of hotel. Just as he takes the said lap, he of course misses both Ramiro and Isidro, so once again the best friend reunion is successfully avoided by the telenovela deities.

Ramiro returns to Rodrigo's room. They talk some about Ramiro's thesis, which Rodrigo for some reason was reading (because a real estate mogul would have nothing more pressing to read of course, silly question). Thesis is dedicated to Llora. Llora must be very proud of him, says Rodrigo. Ramiro, it turns out, has another favor to ask - more money. More?? Rodrigo is incredulous. Turns out that it was Rodrigo who gave Ramiro an advance that the latter put towards his apartment. So Ramiro didn't even have his own money for that and yet insisted on buying an expensive apartment?? Are we sure he is an accountant? Because that was amazingly bad money counting... In any case, Rodrigo is prepared to discuss the loan if Ramiro convinces Creesidro to sell.

Ana Le, in the meantime, is on the good-bye tour around the house, as she is off the beach and needs to brag to everybody. Bragging session to Llora goes successfully, she puts a jab in that unlike Llora, Ana Le can sun tan and enjoy the beach. In a surprising glimpse of non-annoyance and, dare I say it, some show of self-esteem (!!), Llora says that just because she doesn't have a leg, does not also mean she cannot enjoy life. Now if she could only remember that for at least 5 minutes each episode, watching her would be much less irritating.

Ana Le is surprised as well, and invites Llora along. No, Llora doesn't like Ana Le's friends and has plans with Tin. Ana Le repeats Llora's recent wisdom that neither the wheelchair, nor an artificial leg, are an impediment to having fun. She then advises that Llora does not treat Tin with the assumption that, like Llora, he is an introvert, or she runs a risk of boring him. And having dispensed that gem of wisdom, Ana Le departs.

At the beach, Ana Le makes quite an entrance. A particular young man is quite taken by her. He is a cousin of her friend. Later that cousin makes a fool of himself falling off the jet ski, trying to impress Ana Le. Ana Le is not easy to impress, and the dude is small potatoes for her. Dude's cousin - Ana Le's friend - is offended on his behalf. (By the way - this dude, I think, is in the credits as well)

Back at the Casa Loco Llora tells Tin about Ana Le's invite. He isn't sorry she declined, as he has some plans for both of them to be alone. Audience collectively shudders. Tin does call Ana Le superficial though and even Llora can't deny that. A bit later we find Tin and Llora at the aquarium admiring the aquatic life.

We cut to the horse races, where Inaki just bet his last money and lost it. He tries to cajole his brother into giving him a loan, but the brother (smart!) won't budge.

Santi is driving Ana Lu around. They discuss Santi's conversation with Sole. Santi continues to impress that he is definitely, most certainly and beyond a shadow of a doubt, coming back from Costa Paraiso. Even we don't believe you, Santi. Of course, we've seen Evaristo in his godfather outfit planning your trip, and think you better check for a horse head under you blanket every morning.

Santi is stopped by the police in the middle of his arduous efforts to convince Ana Lu that he won't be bailing. Apparently someone accused Santi of theft!! Three guesses as to who that could be... The policeman doing the arrest is the one on Ev's payroll.

Santi is taken to the cell and Ana Lu promises to call Evaristo. We really hope she doesn't, because at this point we aren't sure who Ev will be trying to beat up by the end of episode and hope it won't be Santi. Orlando materializes out of nowhere. Why, yes, it was him who accused Santiago. After much bickering back and forth, they agree that Orlando will take his accusations back and, in return, Ana Lu agrees to talk to him alone on some unspecified date/time, and writes down his phone number to do so.

Just around that time, Chana phones Sole to tell her Orlando knows everything, and is threatening to tell. Moreover, she thinks he will look for Ana Lu's real family, and - by the by - he is also already in Mexico city. Ramiro told Orlando everything, says Chana, and showed photos and dates. Sole almost faints. What will she do - she will now never have a moment of peace.  Chana suggests Sole tells Ana Lu the truth, asks Ana Lu's family for forgiveness and turn herself in to the police. Sole thinks she definitely won’t be doing that. Well, says Chana, then don’t complain that you won’t have a moment of peace. Sole doesn’t think Orlando will harm them, as he's known her his whole life, but Chana thinks his opinion of Sole changed with this new knowledge.

Not willing to chance it, Sole is inviting Evaristo for tea and stimulating conversation on how to get rid of her new annoyance - nosy Orlando. Ev wants a phone number, a picture, and for Sole to stop annoying him with her "just don't hurt them" nonsense and let him do things his own way. While Sole is out visiting Maribel and asking her for Orlando's phone number (Maribel by the way looked very friendly with Inaki's brother, discussing family issues), Remedios is visiting with Evaristo. She has a lot to tell - how come Evaristo wasn't there at the funeral? She hasn't seen him in years. Well, says Ev, he and Rem's husband had a dangerous job working for a private investigation company. Alfredo did not want Rem to know and worry all the time. Sounds like a flimsy excuse to me, on the basis of which to be lying to your spouse about your real occupation. I am also not quite sure of the point of these continuing Rem-Evaristo scenes. I hope there is some intrigue buried there somewhere, besides the fact that she is really hurt that a gum-chewing dude stopped visiting.

Ramiro has invited Valeria to his new depa. Valeria believes Ramiro, but also thinks Tin is a very nice man, who is genuinely in love with Llora. Even Ramiro's account of Chana's card reading about a super-duper dangerous bloke close to Llora does not sway the practical Valeria. Oh well, says Ramiro, one day everyone will understand who Ana Le really is. Sounds like Ramiro is ready to wait until the end of this series for some serious happy ending.

Ana Lu is recounting to Santi that Orlando was the one with the complaint. Santi is furious and wants to beat Orlando up when he is out. You will be out soon, promises Ana Lu, and also lets him know that she promised something else in exchange for Santi's release. Santi is furious all over again.

Sole comes back to Ev with Orlando's phone number and sends Ev out on his mission. Ev calls the corrupt police guy and finds out Orlando has just filed a complaint! Que suerte! Policeman is to take Orlando to Ev under a good pretext. Pretext seems to be holding up - release paperwork for Santi in front of the judge.

Suddenly it's night and Santi and Ana Lu are arguing about her promise to Orlando. She wants to see it through, and he thinks he will win this argument by prohibiting her things. Ana Lu just tells him to shut up and suck it up, as she is sucking it up as well and not complaining about his wife and the impending visit to Costa Paraiso.

Orlando, in the meantime, fared much worse. Ev now has him and is steadily beating on him. Orlando Navarro, he says, today is the last day of your life. So, we start thinking that maybe we were wrong and maybe it's Orlando, who should have been looking for horse heads in his bed, for now anyway.

Ria, thank you for the excellent reap. The episode was just ho hum for me except for the scenes with Evaristo. Great comment about the horse's head. Ha! Ha!

I was hoping that Evaristo would kill obnoxious Orlando as soon as Soledad asked him to take care of him. What a hypocrite! She did not want Orlando hurt. Sure. Anyway, I wonder if Evaristo will kill Orlando or just beat him up. I bet Orlando was regretting ever filing that false police report. What a bozo! "Godfather like" Evaristo has turned out to be my favorite character. I cannot wait to find out his story and how he fits into whatever the bigger picture is. He sure has his connections and most likely the answers to all of the mysteries. I also loved Evaristo in his scenes with first Remedios and then Soledad. You could tell Remedios was getting on his nerves when Evaristo popped a piece of gum. Btw, he sure has WHITE teeth.

Is it wierd that I don't want Orlando to die?

Thanks so much, Ria. I didn't watch this episode, so your wonderful recap is perfect.

Soledad once again asks Evaristo to "take care" of a person who will reveal her crime. I'm starting to think she's the one who asked him to "take care" of Marcelo when he met his unfortunate accident after speaking with her three years ago. She can't claim innocence or ignorance if someone ends up dead. She knows the kind of person Evaristo is.

Thanks for the recap, Ria. It was not your imagination - it was a long episode. I liked your observation about Ramiro's accounting skills. Maybe he should go into lending because he's becoming an expert borrower.

The disappointment of nothing continuing to happen, night after night, is making me impatient. Not to mention, more new characters last night. Why?? There are already too many people to keep track of in this show. Multiple squads of people who fail to advance the plot.

What is the deal with Valeria? I've never seen such a blatant busybody go unscolded. (I am mostly referring to her interference with Ana Llora last week, more than her convo with Ramiro last night.) (Ramiro, btw, was an idiot to tell her about the card-reading. "I've got a bad feeling about that guy" would have sounded less flakey.)

So now Evaristo has Orlando - but will this add up to anything substantial? My guess is no. Evaristo is growing on me because he's the one character who gets things done.

Anon, I don't want Orlando to die because I want Maribel to get together with him and the two of them go away forever. Also, he has pretty eyes.

Also, I don't think he's going to die, at least not yet. There's nothing to be gained by killing him because too many people are already too close to finding the truth. Evaristo is just wasting his time if he's still trying to prevent the inevitable. I don't know what he's up to, but that's probably not it. More likely he is trying to control how AnaLu will be reunited with her family, and what he wants to happen after that.

We still don't know what he had planned for Santi to meet Jenny in Costa Paraiso. I wish that would just happen already.

This is supposed to be, what, two "seasons" of 60 eps each? Is that the deal? Do we have to wait until episode 59 for something to happen?

Julie- Two seasons of around 70 episodes each.

Even though I didn't see this, I know Ana Leticia's friend and her male cousin aren't new. We were briefly introduced to them both during that clubbing scene LONG ago, and then saw the friend working out briefly with Ana Leticia when she shared the news of her aunt (mother of the guy with a thing for Ana Leticia) who has the friend who is suing Mariano. The writers are just doing a crappy job of weaving these characters into the story, so it feels like we see them for 2 seconds (and learn NOTHING about them) and then they are put on the shelf again for another 15 episodes until they are pulled out for random scenes. And some of these characters appear in the main opening credits! I've never scene anything like it before. Maybe they should give Angie Boyer a break by giving these other people and their stories more screen time.

The lesser characters could be given subplots that go somewhere while the major characters spin their wheels. In Hotel (as in many other TNs) there little subplots or mini-mysteries that either got solved fairly quickly or at least moved along. TVA isn't shaping up to be that kind of deal, but that's odd because there's clearly enough material here with all the various characters' problems and quirks to keep everyone busy.

HOPEFULLY all these characters and problems and quirks will be put into play eventually and then we can look forward to a real roller coaster ride. I just don't understand why it's taking us so long to get to the top of the lift hill.

Ria, thanks so much. I'm right there with you on trying to stay interested last night. Good lord, what an annoying bunch.

Soledad is getting closer to villianess status as all this boo-hooing is nothing more than to save her own skin. She really could care less, if push comes to shove, about her "daughter". Her whole charade is going to unravel. So she got Ev to hurt on Orlando, what next, she sends him after each and every person who could know something. Heck, that includes Chana who seems to have grown some common sense. Ridiculous.

I get that Ana Le is a narcissist. Really we all do, and Boyer is gorgeous. But episode after episode of her preening, and sexy get-ups and flirting with someone new is getting old. Fast. So I'll guess that new guy will become obsessed with her, and she'll use him as some boy toy. be more fun if he becomes some Tin-like obsessive. I'll take anything to spice this show up.

Way things are going, where is our incentive to want to tune in for the next 60 episodes after the break. This is no Game of Thrones.

Daisynjay

Daisynjay, great point about what the incentive will be to tune back in. Unless they start to pick up the pace with the plots they already have the decision to split this into two parts could come back to bite them.

I am not a fan of filler subplots.

Excellent point Ria. And well written recap with good observation, in spite of your understandable impatience with the dragging, go-nowhere-fast plotting of this thing.

What a contrast to Yago, where dramatic events transpire every episode. And which Univision has strangely decided to relegate to Unimas at impossible hours of the evening or early morning. A pox on all those decision-makers!

I'm in agreement with all those who are taking a shine to Evaristo. AT least he puts his money where his mouth (and gum and very white teeth) are!

Vivi, as always I remain dazzled by your incredible memory. I remember reading some studies about people who literally remember EVERYTHING and I think you are one of those lucky people. Sure could have used a mind like yours on my history exams!

Thanks again Ria. Your recaps are always lively and eminently readable, no matter how the plot drags.

Wonderful recap Ria!!

I'm behind on this show and when I do watch I ff through a lot of scenes. Not enough happening. If Orlando is killed, Ram is back to stage 1, so I can totally see Orlando dying tonight. I feel like episode 70 will end with Santi or Ana Lu finally being uncovered but I don't think my interest can hold that long.

Sole knows what Ev is capable of and she cares only about herself. She doesn't care that Ana Lu has a family grieving for her and doesn't really care if Santi or Orlando die to keep her secret. She is a villain.

Glad to hear Ram has a real job but sounds like he needs an Accounting 101 refresher course.

For all of Val's creepiness and potential danger to Llora, he is giving her confidence Ram couldn't.

Thanks, all. Glad you all agree it was a rather slow moving episode.

Jarifa - I had to wonder at how dense Orlando was too. If he isn't regretting it yet, he sure will soon - if he gets a chance to regret anything that is after that Ev encounter.

Anon 8:44 - I can't decide if I am pulling for Orlando or not. He is one of those 'extra' characters for me so far.

Vivi - thanks for reminding about Ana Le's friend and her cousin. I had forgotten we've already seen them. I, too, think Angie can use a break from being in every scene.

Julie - Valeria really is a busybody! And not a very useful one at that - she gets into everyone's business but doesn't offer any helpful advice. Both Llora and Ram are continuing on with their inadequacies despite having discussed them with Valeria extensively.

Daisynjay - so definitely agreed on Sole and her rapidly approaching the point of no return. So far (that we know of) she was just the child kidnapper and at least she raised the child lovingly. But she is getting ready to become complicit in a potential murder. Also you are exactly right on lack of any substance to Ana Le's character, as well as rapidly diminishing incentive for tuning back in for the 2nd season.

JudyB - thanks! Evaristo really is one of the only entertaining characters here. And I also want to join you in admiration of Vivi's excellent memory, so glad she is helping us keep the characters and happenings straight!

Carvivlie - oh I bet you are totally right about Orlando dying and Ramiro having his one and only ace taken out of the game!

Thanks, Ria. Great recap.

I actually thought last night's episode moved and I didn't nod off. Maybe because Santi and Ana Lu had a real argument. Maybe because Ramiro working for abuela's old flame was a surprise.

If Orlando goes down, will all signs point to Santi as the culprit?

Evaristo looked ready for a GQ magazine cover shoot. You go, Ev!

I don't think Ramiro needs Orlando. In fact, Evaristo should be leaning on Ramiro, because now that Ramiro knows AnaLu is alive, he's never going to stop looking for her.

But thanks to Orlando, Ramiro knows that AnaLu has a connection to Whatchcamacallit, where Orlando lives. I think if he pokes around there a little longer he'll get someone to admit to knowing her. And if not, all he has to do is keep alert and avoid near-misses because according to my understanding of telenovela geography, Mexico City is approximately three square miles with only one mall, two restaurants, and four street corners. He's bound to run into her by chance.

Gracias, Ria.

Soledad is getting on my last nerve and I'm now ready for some judge to throw the book at her. Truth be told, though, I wouldn't blame Ana Lucia if she rejects not just her but her blood family. Ana Leticia is the consummate narcissist, Mariano isn't much better, Ana Llorona is draining, and Ernestina needs a major reality check.

I don't think Orlando will die yet; it's a little too soon. But I am sick of the lack of progress toward the recovery of Ana Lucia's and Santiago's memories.

Urban- I don't even need that, since those are THE two major story lines. I'd settle for Ernestina finally talking to Rod and finding out she believed a lie about him all those years ago. Or even Mariano being taken to court by whatshername. Something, anything!

Niecie - that is very true, it was Santi's and Ana Lu's first real argument. Very refreshing indeed from our couple of teenagers pushing 30! :)

Julie - three square miles made me laugh out loud!!

Urban, hang in there. I sense(hope?) major changes coming. And Vivi, your comment made me laugh too and yes, expectation adjustments are needed as well. So perhaps we would even be satisfied with major changes for minor characters.

Episode 27? Wasn't it Ep 22?
Also, does anyone else get the feeling that, with all these scheduling changes, Univision screwed up and skipped an episode? It feels like there's an episode missing between 21 (which ended with abuela telling tio about how she was the victim of a gold digger when she was young) and the beginning of 22. When did Ramiro start working for that guy? It's the kind of scene they would've shown us.

So Angelique has complained that Univision has been editing the novela:
http://www.latintimes.com/tres-veces-ana-telenovela-angelique-boyer-frustrated-over-univision-cutting-scenes-387326

Perhaps the gap between ep 21 and 22 is the result of those edits?

Unfortunately, when the full version premieres in Mexico, the novela websites won't re-upload the episodes.

It is the 27th episode, so the Friday's one should be labeled as 26th, which is why I think you are confused

Thanks much Ria, seems like lately I only get a chance to read yours just before I write mine, they're great though.
