Yago #55, Wednesday August 17, 2016: All You Need Is Love

Flashback: Sara remembers going to dinner at the Guerrero home to meet Omar's parents. She is nervous. So is he - she's the first girlfriend he's ever brought home to his parents. Sara tells us to treasure the good times.

Sara's nostalgic reverie ends when she sees Ximena sitting in her old spot at Yomar's side. She coolly announces that she's just here to drop Mati off, and then she leaves. No one attempts to introduce the two women to one another.

Sara thinks back to all the times she's had sex with Yago - on the sofa, on the table, in the car... she woefully tells us that at one time she thought she had found love and a true family. But everything can change in an instant. Boo hoo.

At dinner, Mati says he and his mother visited Ambar's grave. He apologizes for yelling at Yago for killing Mati's aunt; Mati knows now that that wasn't true. Yago asks if they can be friends, but Mati says that his parents are divorced because of Yago. Poor Ximena tries to steer the conversation back to dinner-related stuff.

Abel tells Fidel he can't take Julia and the baby out of the country, because he has to help Omar fulfill his mission. Otherwise, he won't be able to look his child in the eye. Fidel says it's a big mistake not to leave the country, because the future is more important than the past. Abel thinks they're safe because of the truce. Fidel warns that the truce might not last very long. What then?

Ximena is telling some kind of childhood anecdote to Yago's family. (It sounds as though somebody mistook some paste for food, and ate it all.) Yago is having a childish exchange of texts with Sara:

Sara: What kindergarten did you get your girlfriend from?
Yago: Ximena is much better than you.
Sara: Even you don't believe that.
Yago: You much less than anyone have any claim on my love life.
Sara: This morning you didn't seem so convinced.

Ximena thanks the family for the nice dinner and says she has to go. Yago wants to leave with her, but she insists on leaving by herself.

Sara is waiting impatiently for Yago to reply to her (he really shouldn't anyway) when Camilo comes home. They talk about Mati's difficulty adjusting. Camilo promises to make Mati see just how great his daddy Lucio really is. (Isn't that setting the bar too low?) Sara hugs Camilo and says she doesn't know how she could do it without him. But she looks at her phone over his shoulder:

Yago: This morning was a mistake.
Sara: With me, it's always a "mistake" but you love it. You love me, you desire me, you can't deny it.

Hernan leaves Katia, who is not looking good at all, outside the Ambar bar. She staggers inside, gasping, and takes a bottle from the bar before disappearing into the office.

Yago says goodnight to his parents. Bruno asks Yago to stay the night. It would do Yago some good.

Katia is looking at a ton of concerned texts from Teo on her phone. (I'm getting tired of reading texts on my TV.) She takes a nice long drink out of the bottle.

Teo is at Fidel's place, looking at a database of the bar's suppliers. One particular supplier, Pablo Romo, is from the same orphanage as Hernan. Teo summons Fidel home and shows him the information. Fidel says this man will be the key to bringing Camilo down. He also asks Teo to keep an eye on Katia.

Lucio tells Camilo he has a plan that will win them millions while knocking Yago out of the game.

Bruno shows Yago all his newspaper clippings from Omar's trial. Even though Bruno was just a little boy then, he wanted to clear Omar's name. That's why he wanted to become a journalist. Yago warns that meddling with the real crooks could cost Bruno his life.

Julia is still at Abel's place, Yago is with Bruno, Katia is indisposed, and Teo is with Fidel - so who is watching the bar? Never mind. Abel is apologizing to Julia for serving shellfish. She wants Abel to take her home on his motorcycle, but he doesn't think she should be on a motorcycle. She is offended that he's being so bossy with her.

It's morning, and Yago brings Mati his breakfast. Mati tells Yago to get out of his room! But first, Yago wants to tell Mati that he'd never hurt him, and Mati is more important to him than he can imagine. Teo calls to tell Yago they're going to have a meeting with Fidel.

Teo tells Katia that Yago is on the way. He asks about the family situation, but Katia has nothing to tell him. He reminds her to let him know if she needs anything. She tries to act as though nothing's wrong, even though she's badly hung over and can barely walk.

Sara models a new dress for Camilo, and Camilo says that he and Lucio have a surprise for her tonight. Sara doesn't look very enthusiastic.

Yago comes home - wait, wasn't he supposed to go to Fidel's? And why is it dark outside already? Anyway, he finds a formal-looking invitation on his doorstep from Camilo.

It's night time at Abel's house, too, and Julia is there again. Abel has a surprise for her. It's a bunch of birds in a cage. Abel knew she was going to point out that they're in a cage. He wants her to set them free, just like she and Abel will fly away too. Anywhere in the world she wants.

Okay, now it's daytime and they're having the meeting at Fidel's. Fidel feels pretty sure that Camilo must have something up his sleeve. Yago will try to find out from Sara what's going on. They talk about Pablo Romo, but everyone notices that Katia seems distracted or uncomfortable. By the time the meeting's over, she's almost a total basket case.

Julia shows Selma the baby-heartbeat app and says it's too bad, now that she's met her parents, she has to leave for the safety of her baby. She'll miss them.

Abel tells Yago about going away with Julia, but he feels badly about not fulfilling his debt to Yomar. Yago says Abel is a victim too, and doesn't owe Yago anything. Yago wishes Abel luck. Abel is all choked up with emotion.

On the roof, Fidel tells Katia she looks awful, and he wants to help. (Her hair is actually perfect.) She insists that she's fine, it's just that the family matter was difficult and she's still on edge. Well, he can't have her on the mission if she's on the edge of an anxiety attack, so he sends her back to the bar. (Great! She won't have any trouble there.)

Pablo Romo picks up a prostitute, or so he thinks. She chloroforms him in his car. Teo and Abel take him to Fidel's. Even with Abel's pliers manicure special, Pablo Romo insists he had no idea there was a bomb in his wine shipment. Fidel says Pablo's going to help them.

Sara is at Yago's house, but doesn't have any useful information for him. She taunts him about Ximena. "I'm sure that when you're with her, you think about me." She's jealous that they dated for months before she got to meet his family, but for Ximena it was no time at all. He doesn't understand why she's so upset about Ximena, when she's sleeping with Camilo. She says there's no comparison, because that's only for revenge and Camilo disgusts her. Yago says he's happier with Ximena than he's been in a long time; she's cheerful and fun.

Then Fidel calls with instructions for Yago and Sara for tonight's event. I'm getting too tired to catch all the details, sorry, but it sounds as though Pablo is supposed to announce something.

Lucio and Camilo are planning for Yago and Sara's big surprise. Whatever it is, it's going to involve lawyers, and it will quickly accomplish something that would normally take months. It's gonna be a great night!

While Katia is taking out the trash, Hernan comes by with a bag of heroin. What a guy. She cries there in the alley.

Pablo is dressed up for tonight's event, as are Teo and Abel. Fidel assures Pablo that nothing will happen to him. Apparently, Pablo is going to tell everyone about Camilo, and that will smear his reputation forever. (Will it really?) That's the plan.

Ximena is at Yago's house with a bottle of wine. Yago is all dressed up. Ximena asks why he would tell her his life's story, take her to meet his parents, and then spend the whole night texting with his baby mama. (It's a good question.) Yago says he didn't want any secrets between them, and the texting was about the death of Omar. And tonight's event will be about that too, and Sara will be there. But he wants Ximena to be his date. (What is he thinking?? Ximena should run for the hills!!)

It looks like Becker didn't completely back out of the deal with Camilo after all, because he's at the casino tonight. Ximena is self-conscious to be wearing a secondhand dress at such a swanky place. (It doesn't look old or worn at all, but it does look way too small for her.)

Abel gets Camilo's security people to abandon their posts by calling for reinforcements at the entrance. Teo is in the middle of sneaking Pablo in when Katia calls. "Why do you love me, Teo? I'm disgusting. I disgust myself." She tells him she's at the bar. Teo calls Abel and tells him to cover for him. Pablo is a nervous wreck. He waits alone, but then he sees something that frightens him...

Ximena wants beer, but all they have at the casino is wine. What is wrong with that place? Sara laughs and tells Ximena that apparently, artists don't care about dress codes. Ximena introduces herself as the novia de Yago, and she knows who Sara is too, because Yago told her about Sara. "Oh, did he tell you everything? Did he tell you about yesterday?" Yago interrupts to introduce Ximena and Camilo. Afterwards, Ximena tries to ask about Sara, but Abel shows up and says that Teo had to leave and he can't find Pablo anywhere.

Lucio opens the evening's event saying that the proceeds will all go to Camilo's charitable foundation. $10 million, that's US dollars, have been donated for poor communities throughout Mexico. And who was the donor? Apparently, it was Yago!

----------------------------------
Below is the fake recap I posted earlier because I hadn't seen the episode yet:

- At the Guerrero home, Sara's eyes lock with Ximena's. Jealous screeching and hair-pulling ensue. Mati protests that people are supposed to solve their differences with calm discussion. Sara and Ximena agree to talk things out in another room.

- Katia has been faking with Lucio and Hernan all along. During her substance-abusing days, Katia took so much heroin that she's now immune to it. While Hernan and Lucio have their guards down, Katia stabs Hernan from behind; since he can't feel pain, he doesn't even notice before he bleeds to death. She grabs the syringe and gives Lucio a fatal heroin overdose while he is using the cocaine mirror app on his phone. Then Katia flies back to Fidel's hideout, because she has super-powers.

- Abel and Julia move to Wisconsin. I bet Camilo doesn't have any peeps in Wisconsin. Oh, also Abel turned himself in for his crimes, but he's being allowed to serve probation out-of-town because all of the people he's killed, including the guard at the casino, were wanted by international anticrime organizations. Whew, lucky break! Julia returns to working as an environmental legal consultant, and Abel makes a fortune doing smoking cessation seminars. They try to interest their daughter in pliers, but she prefers wrenches.

- Katia gives Teo a hard time about believing her extremely lame, vague, and dubious story about dealing with a family emergency. Teo agrees that it was very stupid of him. They also move to Wisconsin, where they operate a lollipop factory which is a cover for a secret ninja school. (They don't go to jail for their crimes, but karma curses them with a couple dozen immortal flies that buzz around in their kitchen for the rest of their lives.)

- Ximena and Sara bond over herbal tea and agree to share Yago. Yago says this sounds very hot, but first Sara has to confess everything to the authorities and go to prison. Sara agrees. In prison, she takes up with her roommate, who is the meanest woman in the whole place, and together they rule the prison block for several weeks. But then Sara's roommate frames Sara for a crime she didn't commit, and Sara ends up with a 60-year sentence. Mati is raised by Melina and Jonas and is as happy as can be.

- Sylvia - remember her? - turns up with Alejandra, who didn't really die. Her death was an elaborate ruse, but they had to hide out as long as Damian was still alive. They explain everything, and it all makes perfect sense. Also, Sylvia is no longer terminally ill.

- Ximena gets killed by Camilo for no good reason. Yago finally realizes the futility of seeking revenge. Although Sara had cleared Omar's name, Yago turns himself in for the crimes that he committed during the vendetta. It's a fairly nice prison, but no he does not get to have a girlfriend.

- Fidel goes to Camilo's house with a lump of uranium to kill him with. (It's a strange weapon, but Fidel is a strange guy.) Something goes wrong, and the radiation makes Camilo's orchids carnivorous and aggressive. Camilo and Fidel are devoured by the plants, which wander onto the 3VA production set and consume Soledad, Facundo, and Orlando before dying of indigestion. In the chaos, Ana Laura and Ana Lucia finally meet!

- Camilo's ex-investor, Becker, buys Yago's bar. He and Selma begin dating. Selma sings at the bar every night.

Sorry, that fake recap was extremely silly. But I felt bad for not having any real bullet points to post this afternoon.

Please feel free to discuss the ACTUAL episode all you want - it'll be quite a few hours before I can post the real thing.

Julie ROFLOL!

Whaddya mean?...I LOVE your fake recap. Especially the Wisconsin part and Abel's smoking cessation program. Wisconsin is a great state. Sometimes I wish I still lived there. (blue skies in Winter unlike Catarrh Valley Ohio).

:) I love the fake recap, Julie. No take on the future of Bruno? I guess he becomes a world famous journalist-- he exposes the ties between the Mexican federal government and the mafia/cartels, topples the corrupt government, and sends the top cartel heads to jail.

I've been thinking about these crimes were thinking Yago, Katia and Teo should go to jail for. What crimes, exactly? The times when they have killed, it's been in shootouts with people who are shooting at them. On top of it being self defense, I'm sure both Camilo and Fidel make sure their men/agents are disappeared and their families compensated-- nothing that would come to the attention of the authorities. What else would they go to jail for?

Yago conspired with Fidel to trick Lucio into committing fraud. He also bribed Tomas to give Lucio a hard time about not paying back his loan fast enough - which included not only that first beating Lucio got, but kidnapping Mati as well. Yago would also be considered an accessory in many of Fidel's other crimes - including Raul's murder. Yago is also probably guilty of identity theft.

Katia stole a car and burned it. She and Teo have also broken into numerous buildings. I'm not sure what else Teo's guilty of lately, but he did participate in his sister's fake kidnapping, which resulted in her death. But honestly, I really thought the houseflies would be punishment enough. I battled a bunch of them in my own kitchen last night, and it was a nightmare.

Julie you should do more "fake recaps". This one was hysterical!
Too many comments that you made so I won't enumerate them here. Just know your recap was delightful!

Looking forward to the serious recap!

#FREEKATIA

Lucio committed fraud all by himself. Yago telling him he's besties with Fidel wouldn't hold up in court as contributing to the fraud. Lucio thought he was being slick, meeting with Fidel behind Yago's back, and no one made him sign the papers or deceived him about what he was signing. He knew, and in fact tried to set Abel up to take the fall initially. Nope. That doesn't go on Yago's rap sheet. Raul was going to kill Katia, and I'm pretty sure like all of Camilo's men he's off the grid and his family is paid and compensated to not talk about his connections to Camilo. It was gruesome the way Fidel killed him, but it came as just as much of a shock to Yago when he did it as it did to us.

Even if we discount Raul's death and Lucio's fraud, Yago, Katia, and Teo still have crimes to account for. Many of those crimes may be petty and some may be morally justifiable, and quite a few of them may not be of interest to the police. At any rate, I wouldn't expect them to get long sentences. B

ut in most TNs, people who commit crimes do pay. This is a different kind of TN, though, so maybe that won't be the case here. And you could definitely argue that they've already paid plenty, even if not in prison.

Julie: Yago's drug addiction of choice is Sara & he just can't get enough!

Julie,
Loved the fake recap. Are you a professional writer? You should send your script to Televisa, but they might not hire you because you're too talented. Can't wait for the recap, especially since I haven't had a chance to watch the episode.

Hasta Pronto

AuntyAnn, you are too sweet. I am a professional writer, but I write technical manuals for industrial process sensors. Recapping satisfies my urge to tell stories, without the fuss and bother of actually having to make up a story of my own, which is really not my strong suit.

As much as I complain about the writing in certain telenovelas, there are other telenovelas that are written like fine literature. I can't hold a candle to those people in terms of being able to come up with a plot that isn't full of holes. So I'm gonna stick with my day job for now. :-)

Oh, about Bruno. I didn't mention him, but let's assume that he gets back together with Alejandra. They both become top journalists and eventually have their own very profitable newspaper. And, like many top journalists, they are close friends with a superhero who protects them from the kind of people they're always exposing.

So I'm now firing up Hulu in 3... 2... 1. The recap will be up in a little while.

Julie, thanks for the laughs. I love everybody winding up in the suburbs in Wisconsin.

Sorry this is taking so long. I'm only about halfway through - I had Internet problems, which meant Hulu problems. That delayed me by about an hour. And I've still got a bunch of damned flies in my kitchen. They are driving me crazy.

Done. Sorry again for the delay.

Thanks Julie! The recap was perfect. I stayed up just to read it.

I think Hernan got to Pablo and killed him.

Oh why, why won't Katia tell the team what happened to her?!

Had to laugh at Sara being jealous of Ximena. She really feels like she owns Yomar.

Ditto all you said, Vivi. Especially about Katia. It's so obvious that something is wrong, and by not telling anyone she's only increasing the risk to everyone.

Katia already has risked the safety of the crew by pulling Teo away from the most important mission to date.

Katia falling off the wagon by using Heroin (after Lucio & Hernan torture her & shoot her up with the drugs).

Victoria: You're right. Katia just put the Avengers in danger.

Julie: I laughed at Abel's pliers manicure ROFLOL!

Steve- Katia didn't fall off the wagon. She was thrown off the wagon by Lucio and Hernan, and backed and rolled over by the wagon a few times for good measure.

This comment has been removed by the author.

Vivi: Sara jealous of Ximena ROFLOL!

Daddy Michell & Co., plotting counter-serge attack on the Avengers.

Third, I don't think Pablo is among the living!

Thank you Julie and the faux recap set well with me. I want Alejandra to live.

Wow, that was rich, Yago warning Bruno to stay away from the thugs or he may get hurt. How about stay away from Yago? That thug will get Ximena killed using her to tweak Sara and he doesn't care. I hate that guy and want him to crawl back into the hole from which he came.

Yago is part of a conspiracy and any crimes the gang is guilty of he is too. Great catch all RICO and Mexico has an equivalent.

This was the first episode that I can honestly say felt like a dud. Especially now that I've seen #56, I feel like #55 was mostly setup for #56, and didn't have much charm of its own. I really felt for Ximena - Yago is a terrible date. I also didn't like the bit about the birds - as I understand it, domesticated animals aren't safe in the wild.

Thanks, Julie. "she [Sara] woefully tells us that at one time she thought she had found love and a true family. But everything can change in an instant. Boo hoo." Amen, what an egotist. Sara has had opportunities to change and blown them all. She spends her time with snarky text to Yago, but she couldn't open up her mouth up about Katia?

Fidel climbed up a bit in my esteem, though I'll never forgive him for killing Candy the dog. He was the only one who noticed Katia was a mess. Teo should've seen in her eyes how fried she was.

Yago knows there could be danger at this party. But, hey, why not ask Ximena along to get screwed up in an enemy attack.

I guess Yago assumed that Ximena would be safe since the casino would be full of witnesses. But even so, you shouldn't take a date along when you're about to meet with your worst enemy. He just wanted to wave Ximena in Sara's face, I guess. Really, between Ambar and Ximena, Yago looks like the worst boyfriend ever.

Did I miss a reason why Katia isn't telling Teo what happened to her? Did they threaten her? Or is she ashamed of her addiction? Teo would understand and help her! And then they could go after Lucio and Hernan together because those two need to DIE DIE DIE.

This is why Saea will never get redemption. She has no thought for Onar's happiness or act silly doing anything to earn his forgiveness. It's always about her and what she wants. Daddy Damian really did a number on her, but she could have paid for therapy a long time ago. She'll never want to a be a decent person.

Kelly

Kelly- I think shame has a lot to do with it. Maybe she doesn't want to be the cause of blowing up the "no blood spilled" truce, because that's what Teo and Yago would have gone out and done had she told them.

Gracias Julie.!

Outside of Julia I don't really think the truce really matters to anyone, Fidel&Camilo will just screw eachother over with non violent options until one of them get's ticked off.

Yago is truly the worst boyfriend ever. I could forgive him for revealing himself to his family but putting a girl he doesn't even know in danger screams oblivious a mile away. Jeez even Ricardo from Sueno De Horror has more brain cells!

I don't think Sara had a choice. If she told Yago about Katia, Lucio would have grounds to give Sara over to Camilo.

Sara still must die! I want her to suffer the most violent fate ever!

The recap for episode 56 is up!
