A Que No Me Dejas #8 - Place your bets now as the race for "Who Discovers Gonzalo's Affair First" Begins!

Hello Everyone! The chess pieces keep dancing around the board so let's get started….

Adrian is appalled that Paulina would even suggest breaking up. He says he understands Mauricio is a priority but he doesn’t want to break up. At that moment, Gonzalo arrives and Paulina cuts the call short.

Gonzalo gives money roses and a pearl necklace and a note that says he doesn’t like when they are mad at each other. Monica rejects the gives and Elisa is happy that she has taken a stance against the fact that Gonzalo doesn’t seem to care that much about his other children. She hopes Monica keeps at it.

Karen thinks Paulina jumped the gun at suggesting her and Adrian break up. Mauricio might be in a coma for a while but Karen doesn’t think it’s fair for anyone involved. (I suggest they just go get married in a day then Paulina come back and be with Mauricio but married).

Ines talks to Mauricio about what his life will be once he’s better. (This poor kid has been through the wringer. I hope his life does get better).

Adrian presents the project for the clients to Odette and she’s impressed. He tells her that their relationship is on stand still because of Mauricio and Odette already smells blood in the water. (My god, I can’t imagine people in real life plotting to ruin other people’s relationships but I’m sure it also happens.)

Odette points out they’re had a lot of obstacles and he may be forcing the relationship. She also points out that she’s taking care of a kid that’s not technically her family instead of being with Adrian. She suggests Paulina may be regretting her decision to leave everything. (Did she make a list of all of the reasons Adrian should breakup with Paulina last night? God).

Camilo brings Paulina her favorite kiwi tart to the hospital. Gonzalo and Ines arrive and Gonzalo is happy to see Paulina’s boyfriend there. Paulina makes it very clear they are not official. Camilo and Gonzalo leave to the hotel and Ines tells Paulina she wants to talk to her about her feelings for Camilo. (Everyone has a racehorse in this race for Paulina’s heart).

Julieta and Jaime go to the doctor and they say she suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She says that her illness is common and there are pills for it but she must continue the regimen of medicine to the T. They thank her and leave with the prescription.
The annual hotel convention wants Gonzalo as a speaker this year but he’s not sure he’ll attend. His secretary tells him the person he sent the jewelry and flowers to rejected them. He is shocked, shocked (!) she should reject his gifts. She tells him that Leonel is back from his course.

Leonoel meets Camilo and Leonel offers to teach Camilo everything he knows. Leonel has a moment to recuperate his fake smile when he steps out of the office to go look for some documents. (Boy was the tension running high in that office).

Ines, Paulina and Micaela are hopeful that Mauricio would make a recovery but Nuria suggests that he should just die and be in heaven with his parents. Ines tells her she doubts Edgar’s in heaven and warns her to accept Mauricio will be a part of the family when he gets better or things will start changing for her. (Woah, so Ines is not taking ANY s*** from Nuria, good for her).

Leonel is showing Camilo how the reports are done and (duh duh duh!) he hands him a report with Monica Greepe’s name on it. Camilo asks about but Leonel says it was the wrong report. (Everyone has a racehorse on the Gonzalo affair race too). Leonel makes it clear he will handle the personal expense reports while he handles the hotel’s expense reports.

Elisa buys mangoes for the kids but tells them they’re too green to eat. Rene doesn’t care and goes to eat one anyway. He unwraps one and notices the newspaper it’s covered in with a story saying Gonzalo has a wife (!!!!!!!!!!!). He yells for Monica and calls her a liar for lying to them all these years about why their dad isn’t home.

Gonzalo is looks at his two family portraits, the one on the desk and the one stuffed in a drawer. Alfonso walks in and Gonzalo comments that he hopes his business remains in the family when he passes away. Alfonso says that when he dies, his two families would meet and it would be hard for them. Gonzalo, caring only about himself, says that he would be dead so they wouldn’t reprimand him like they would if they found out now. Either way, he hopes either Rene or Alan takes over the business as they are men and Paulina is a woman so when she gets married and becomes a mother, the family business would be the least of her worries. (Wow, just wow. Surprise, surprise, Gonzalo is a sexist to boot. He’s such a catch).

Monica tries to say that the newspaper is wrong but Rene isn’t biting. He wants to speak to his dad. When Monica doesn’t adhere to his request, he locks himself in his room.

Jaime updates Adrian on Julieta’s treatment. Adrian is glad. Julieta then talks to Adrian and rambles on about how she misses Adrian and wants him number to call him, etc. but Adrian doesn’t budge. He doesn’t need her calling him all the time. He hangs up on her and then Julieta proceeds to throw away the pills the doctor gave her and fill the bottle with mints (she’s smart I’ll give her that, on top of crazy).

Paulina misses Adrian. She thinks of putting on the starfish necklace again but decides against it.

Karen tells Adrian to think his decision through if he decides to break up with Paulina. Adrian tells her he is going to wait, he loves her and he will wait for her to be ready to marry him. Karen is happy he will do so.

Alan asks for Rene to open the door. He does so and tells Alan he hates their father and breaks the yacht Gonzalo gave them. Alan goes to Monica and tells her to fix the yacht now! Monica sends him away and tells him to give her space. Elisa comes and tells her she needs to fix this now or it will get worse before it gets better. Monica agrees.

Camilo tells Gonzalo that he understands everything but is curious as to why Leonel wants to handle the personal expense reports himself. Alfonso and Gonzalo give each other a knowing look and say Leonel will take care of those, they shouldn’t take away all his responsibilities. When Camilo leaves, Gonzalo and Alfonso comment that Camilo should never know about Gonzalo’s second family.

Nuria thinks Paulina and Ines going to the hospital all the time to visit Maurico is a waste of time but Ines and Paulina tell her that it’s their responsibility and leave. When they do, Nuria races upstairs and changes into a dress as opposed to the jeans and shirt she had on to go to the University. (Well at least now we know what her parents THINK she does all day).

Adriana and Odette discuss designs and Adrian tells her he was inspired because he decided to wait for Paulina. Odette is so disappointed that I’m shocked Adrian doesn’t notice.

Monica goes to visit Gonzalo at the office. Monica waits for Gonzalo in Alfonso’s office but Gonzalo isn’t budging either. He will not take her visit nor give in to her demands since everything is on his terms.

Karen tells Paulina that Adrian decided to wait for her to be ready and Paulina is happy. Ines comes and asks why they’re so happy. Karen tells her that she has a new beau and so she was telling Paulina. Ines is happy she found someone and comments that she has been lucky in love, she has been married to Gonzalo for 25 years and she still loves him like the first day.

Alfonso tells Leonel that him and Gonzalo agree, he should keep handling the personal expense reports. Camilo, the official “I’ll listen to private conversations behind a wall” employee of Murat hotels hears when Alfonso tells Leonel that no one, especially his can ever find out about Monica. When they leave, Camilo wonders who she is.

Alfonso goes to Monica and tells her that Gonzalo will not see her. She warns him that if Gonzalo doesn’t go to visit her tonight, she will spills the beans about EVERYTHING to Gonzalo’s first family.

Adrian goes home and finds EVIL Nuria in his bed and tells him that since Paulina forgot about him already and is with Camilo, he should console himself with her. She goes in for the kiss….

Thanks, Superalfie! Yes indeed, the race is on to out Gonzo, and Camilo is pulling ahead. You didn't mention it, but he also saw Monica when she was in the hallway speaking to his dad. In fact, I thinking that he'll first assume that it's his father who's having the affair.

Monica, you reap what you sow. But it's unfair for the kids to suffer this way.

Yeah, the machismo coming out of Gonzo's mouth. Even Al was rolling his eyes. He knows perfectly well that Paulina would be perfect to inherit the leadership of the company. I hope when Inez finds out, she divorces him and takes him for everything he has, and that Monica sues him for a boatload of child support.

Every time Gonzo catches Pau speaking to "Odette", you can tell he's not buying her story. I'm sure a man who sneaks around and lies all the time knows all the tricks.

You're welcome, Vivi!

I didn't see that so thank you for bringing it to our attention. I assumed Camilo would think the same thing, especially since he keeps catching his dad covering for Gonzalo. I hope this doesn't ruin Alfonso's own marriage which seems to be reasonably stable. I don't know how people like Alfonso can be friends with Gonzalo…he obviously doesn't think AT ALL like him even if he might cover for him on some instances.

Monica's children are growing up and eventually they'll go to find their own answers instead of asking and taking Monica's word for it. Now that Alan knows the truth, he will definitely be harder to control. Just for laughs, I imagined what Elisa or Monica would say to the person who sold them the mangoes and their choice of wrapping paper. LOL!

I'm loving the camera direction on this one. I haven't seen a nice sweeping hallway scene or continuous shot (unless it's edited) since Sortilegio. That one was a treat for the eyes in the editing and camera direction department.

Great work, Superalfie!

Vivi, I totally agree. The days when women were expected to stay home with children and not bother their pretty little heads about business are long over. Paulina will definitely qualify to run the company. After this particular situation I doubt that Rene or Alan will care, but they're still kids and don't yet have a grasp of the business situation.

Monica needs to get a major reality check here. Alan (or was it Rene?) is old enough to figure out their personal situation at least as far as knowing that his mother is The Other Woman. She has to stop lying to him. She also needs to throw her mother out of their place if she doesn't stop interfering. Elisa is right about Monica's delusions, but that doesn't give her the right to make Monica's life more difficult.

I also agree that Ines should divorce Gonzalo and both she and Monica should take him to the cleaners. He should be reduced to living in a one-bedroom apartment without servants to cook, clean, and do laundry.

As for Julieta replacing her pills with Tic Tacs (Didn't we all see this coming during the scene in the doctor's office?), someone will figure that out sooner or later because the medicinal odor will be gone and the bottle will smell of mint. Jaime needs to institutionalize her for the sake of his own sanity as well as everyone's safety. I fail to understand how he could have endured being married to her all those years. She must have come from a more socially prominent family than he did or been the relative of a business partner or associate or something. She is beautiful (because the actress is), but that should not outweigh her madness, which is costing Jaime too much business thanks to what she did at Paulina's graduation party.

I missed the episode yesterday, so this is when I appreciate the recaps the most! Thanks a bunch!

OK.

ITA that Adrián and Paulina, whose love story has so many obstacles, should have married in secret and left Puerto Esperanza Guerrero, anything with this name, is not good. Then leave immediately. Or stay like Alfie said, but already married.

Also, why try to fix something that is not broken (or that was already broken and you took it as is). Mónica knew Gonzalo was married and still slept with him. She has now two kids. That's not the worse. The worse is having your mother messing everything up without need. If they have way more than they expected, why kill the hen? Gonzalo is married and he has shown that he doesn't want to end his marriage. Well.. that's what you get when you mess with a married man, you only get breadcrumbs. You can not demand more than that now 10+ years later. Mónica, get rid of your mother or everything will get worse! I am sure that mango thing was not an accident.

Living in the US it would never occur to me that fruit like mangoes would be wrapped in newspaper as we get our fruit bagged in plastic. Elisa could have seen the page before the vendor wrapped the fruit and didn't stop him/her; she could have thrown it away afterward. I would probably suspect this in Monica's place. However, this is a dangerous game to play. Monica should throw her out on her ear.

She also needs to be honest with her sons, which will be more difficult.

Nuria is truly evil. To wish death on a helpless child and to go as far as she has to seduce a sister's novio puts her into a fairly deep level of Dante's Inferno.

The things is, even without Elisa poking her nose in, the kids would eventually start to ask tough questions and this all would blow up. What Monica needs to start focusing on, instead of trying to get Gonzo to leave his wife and spend more time with her and their sons (because surely by now she must realize he was lying to her all these years about waiting until his daughters were grown), is to make sure he has legally made agreements with her to support her and the boys financially (and not just in a will after he dies). She should have legally binding monthly support worked out with him, so that she's not just depending on his whim and favor.

I'm also betting on Camilo exposing the affair!

I dont blame Elisa though. Shes thinking of the boys. Maybe shes going about it the wrong way but I cant fault her for trying to get out of Gonzalo what Monica is finally trying to get.

As far as the mangoes, that seems too elaborate I think but who knows.

Superalfie- I agree that Elisa is doing what a lot of mothers would probably do, seeing their child in this awful relationship that makes them unhappy. Especially when it also affects her grandchildren. And the reason Monica doesn't throw Elisa out is because Elisa is the one who has had her back all these years, and helped her out with the boys, while she's essentially been a single parent. I just think both she and Monica have poor methods for getting what they want. Well, Monica can't have what she wants-- Gonzo is not going to leave Inez for her. So she better focus on what she and her kids NEED-- financial security. She needs to get a lawyer to negotiate with Gonzo and make things legally binding. Then she needs to dump him, and find a man who respects her enough to not make her his side-piece (of course this means that she needs to respect HERSELF first).

The first thing Monica needs to do is to get Gonzo to put the house in her name. He's already made a comment about how he owns it. Maybe she use some of telenovela tricks we've all learned to get him drunk and sign the papers putting it in her name. Then at least she and the kids won't lose their home when she finally dumps his sorry butt.

My money is on Camilo finding out everything first since he already knows some of the of secrets. He'd be a pretty good spy. Hopefully he doesn't go the way of Edgar before getting to reveal everything.

He doesn’t need her calling him all the time. He hangs up on her and then Julieta proceeds to throw away the pills the doctor gave her and fill the bottle with mints (she’s smart I’ll give her that, on top of crazy).

Ah you made me laugh with that one SuperAlfie. Missed this episode so especially grateful to be brought up to date. Our macho hunk Gonzalo does seem to be skating on thin ice here.

Finding both Nuria and Julieta UNWATCHABLE. Two of the most loathsome and/or annoying characters ever. And presumably Odette will be busily scheming as well. In short, everybody wants Adrian, and for the life of me I can't see why. But ni modo. Now if his role were played by a young Fernando Colunga...maybe...

Thanks for the recap Super Alfie

Superalfie, my apologies for commenting so late, but I just caught up on the eppy and your wonderful recap!

Boy oh boy..Camilo sure has alot of intel that drops into his ear doesn't he? First Pau's secret with Adrian and now Monica. What's the saying? Curiosity killed the cat! I don't know what's going to happen to Camilo, but he better watch out for how much more he learns.

I don't like Leonel..he's shady for sure.

Odetta is a snake, she may be more subtle than Nuria, but she's all to happy to play head games and plant seeds of doubt with Adrian.

Loonieta is driving me crazy..I just want to reach through te screen and punch her in the face. This bisch is certifiable. I don't know why Jaime puts up with her. Ugh!

JudyB...I don't get why everyone wants Adrian either. He's cute enough..but he's not some dream galan for me. *shrugs* Fernando Colunga? *faints*

Thank you everyone for stopping by and commenting! Discussions definitely make the drama more fun.

Adrian is never going to be Luis Manrique y Arellano or Alejandro Lombardo or even Maximilliano Montesinos but I'm still in the camp of "I'm glad they chose someone 'normal.'"

The same can be said about Paulina. It's good to see that there can be normal people in novela, that not everyone is "hot" and some even have a unibrow and can still be attractive.

Odette's mind games are more enjoyable than Nuria because Nuria's so obvious about it. Girl, you need to calm down the venom, you don't even have crazy to back you up.
