Vino el Amor, Lunes 12/5/16 Chapter 25: No Ifs, Ands, or Butts...

Marta flew at Lillian in defense of Luciana when she collapsed into seizures on the floor. Lillian yelled at her to stop pretending to be ill. Marta convulsed, then passed out. Lillian poked her and she did not get up. Lillian yelled for Sonia.

Luciana and Miguel were trying the wine in the restaurant. Miguel commented on its fruitiness and that he also noticed the effort and love that went into it. The love of the vine, the love of life. He then said that someday their vineyard would produce something like it. Luciana looked a little ill at ease.

Sonia finally arrived and asked what was wrong.
Call an ambulance. I don't know what happened. ”
As Sonia ran to obey Fernanda came out of her room on her crutches, which she dropped as soon as she saw Marta. She went to her on her feet and knelt at her side. She began crying when she could not rouse her nanny. Lillian was breathing hard, realizing the situation was out of her control.

Susan was working at the computer in Juan's office. She heard Tano coming down the stairs from the upper level and went to meet him. He was breathing hard, pale, and feverish. She asked what was wrong and he said “Nothing” just as his cell phone announced a text message. It was from Carito, telling him that his father was ill. Susan offered to go there with him.

Fernanda yelled that they needed an ambulance and César. Sonia said she would call César. Bobby came in, as worried as his sister, who held him back as Lillian told them not to panic. Sonia pulled out her cell.

As Susan and Tano arrived at the employee housing they saw Ramón and León laid out on the couches as Carito brought them water and cold cloths for their heads. Tano slid down onto the couch for a moment as César arrived. He immediately determined that they had fevers and opened his bag.

A more tense situation was in the making as David and Graciela had decided to dine in the same restaurant as Luciana and Miguel. They entered just as Luciana had fed Miguel a taste of her food. She stopped him from returning the favor when she saw her bodacious boss and his vampiric companion enter. Graciela told them that since David has had so much going on she thought it would be a good idea to go out and have a good time. Luciana agreed, saying they were in perfect company. Miguel grinned, saying to Luciana that she was perfect company. David picked up on his interest saying “Well, yes. I imagine you will have a good time together.”
Yes, because we know each other a long time, as you know your sister-in-law.”
Graciela looked as though she wished she were anywhere else.
Well, I think we should go to our table and leave you two alone. You were getting so sweet and tender with each other. Isn't that so, David?” He smile was so forced it might have been possible to see the puppet strings pulling it.
Enjoy,” said David, his jaw tightening.
Graciela tried leading him away when a waiter approached, telling David that the sommelier wished to speak with him. He asked Graciela if she wanted to accompany him, but she said she would wait at their table. As he followed the waiter she looked at Luciana, then began to follow David.
Miguel went to the restroom and Graciela came back and sat at Luciana's table and demanded that she leave David alone.

César said that they had symptoms of severe poisoning. Susan told him about the pesticide which Miguel identified as being poor quality and went back to the office to get information. César told Carito the clothes they had worn should be burned, then made a phone call. He was not going to prescribe anything before getting lab test results. He handed a thermometer to Carito and told her to take their temperatures.

Leave him alone? What are you talking about?”
Neither your mother nor you understand limits. She has too much authority over Fernanda and influence over David and that is not right.”
That isn't true.”
Yes, it is.”
Don't interfere with my mother. All she has ever done in her life is work for this family.”
Yes, but neither you nor your mother understand that you are not part of the family and now you don't work for David because you don't get that.”
Miguel returned.
Is everything alright?”
No, nothing is,” said Luciana, standing and folding her arms. Graciela smirked back.
Is something wrong?” asked David, who had just returned.
No, nothing,” Graciela said, with a semi-flirtatious smile.
Then let's go to our table.”
Before you go why don't you tell your brother-in-law what you were about to say,” said Luciana.
You don't know what you're talking about,” Graciela said, trying to lead David away again.
No, tell him the truth.”
What is this about?” asked David.
You're capable of saying to David exactly what you said to me.”
Luciana, I'm not afraid to see things as they are. David, I told her that neither she nor her mother understand their limitations. That they are not part of this family and that she will never be with you.”
I don't understand why you have to complicate things. Luciana and her mother are part of my family.”
Yes, David, I know, but they're not – “
I'm not finished, Graciela. Marta has always taken care of my children. Luciana and Leon have all my trust.”
I understand, but to begin with it's a little difficult for me to understand this situation. It's been a long time away – “
Oh, please! The same old song,” said Luciana.
David – “
This is not the time or the place to talk about these things,” David said. “Let's go.”
Of course, and who said I was imprudent – “
Luciana, let this rest,” Miguel whispered to her.
You're right, Miguel. Let's go and they'll have all night to talk about this.” She looked Graciela in the eye. “Don't let us stop you. Enjoy dinner. The pesto is very good. ------”
That's not necessary, thanks,” said David. He looked clearly uncomfortable as they headed toward their table.
Luciana sat down in disgust, not realizing that she was in David's field of vision.

Carito was reading César's instructions as Susan returned. Carito told Susan that Marta had taken ill and César went to the main house to attend her. Susan started to collapse, but took out her cell and called Luciana to tell her about her mother. She explained that it looked like pesticide exposure. Luciana told her she'd be right there. She told Miguel there was something she had to do before they left.

César examined Marta and said that she was exposed to the same poisons. Fernanda asked who else and he told her. Lillian groused, as usual. Fernanda told César she would stay with Marta until her father came back. Lillian didn't like that at all.
No, she's better, isn't she?”
I think it's worthwhile for someone to stay with her,” said César.
Lillian dared not say anything to contradict him.

Graciela tried to impress David with conversation about her success in Madrid, but he was not listening. When pressed he told her he didn't like her attitude, which was too much like her mother's. She didn't have time to argue because Luciana entered to tell him about the emergency. Graciela made her displeasure known by adding an eye roll. David got up, saying he's going right home. Luciana was riding with Miguel. David told Graciela to settle the bill and he'd see her later at home. She tried to make light of it but he didn't fall for it. He followed Luciana out leaving Graciela alone with her red lipstick and her attitude. She paused for a second before leaving the table.

Susan walked into the men's dorm to find Tano hooked up to an IV. She called Juan's cell and left a message, asking why he wasn't returning her calls. He was eating in bed in San Francisco when the phone alerted him. Perla came into the room wearing his shirt. He told her that Susan was trying to reach him, but he made no move to return the call. He went back to his food, which led to a little flirting involving tasting each other's food [except that this is hotter in the movies].
Susan left another message, then put a cool cloth on Tano's forehead.

Sonia, per Lillian's orders, did not allow Bobby to leave his room. He wanted to check up on Marta. Sonia failed once again to gain his trust. At the same time, Fernanda was feeling guilty about this, connecting the incident to what she had done to Luciana. César started to explain when Luciana and Miguel entered the room. Lillian departed in disgust, no doubt to cause further grief elsewhere. Marta was still unconscious. César explained that she had an extreme allergic reaction to the pesticide. He had treated Tano, Leon, and Ramón as well. Miguel blamed Juan for this.

Leon woke up, wanting to know what was happening. Susan explained it to him and as soon as he knew his mother was in the main house he got up to leave, dragging the IV pole with him. Susan and Carito restrained him and made him go back to bed.

Luciana demanded that Juan answer for this. Miguel seconded that. David arrived and César explained that Marta had tried to wash the clothes that had been in contact with the pesticide. He was waiting for lab results before prescribing further treatment and for the ambulance that would take Marta to the hospital. He dismissed everyone from the room. Fernanda kissed Marta's forehead before taking her crutches. Outside, she told her father that Bobby was very worried. David decided to tend to him and told Graciela to see Fernanda back to her room. Luciana wondered why everything brought her back to this place in the end one way or another.
David tried to reassure Bobby that Marta would be alright. He sat on the bed and embraced the child while trying to allay his fears. Sonia watched and seemed to be transported to some fantasy world she dared not share with anyone else. She was sufficiently lost that she didn't hear David the first time he asked where Lillian was. The second time she finally said that Lillian went to her room and was having a drink. She had seen Marta collapse and was all shook up.
Luciana was worried about losing Marta, too. Miguel tried to reassure her, then went to see about Leon. Luciana stayed on the upstairs level and David came out of Bobby's room and saw her crying. He promised to do everything he could for Marta. Luciana cried silently and he embraced her.

Miguel had barely gotten to the door when he was greeted by Carito, who was playing damsel in distress as usual as she told him about the others. He didn't stay for the rest of that performance.

David released Luciana and tried to tell her not to cry, that he would do everything to help her mother. Just as he was moving within kissing distance, Sonia sneaked up from behind to get his attention, telling him that Bobby was insistent on seeing Marta. He said he would take care of it. Luciana said she would go in to see her mother. However, when Sonia followed David there was no mistaking the meaning of her facial expression.

Susan talked to the lab and realized that the epidemic was due to some chemicals in the pesticide. She asked whether they had the antidote and was told they had none on hand. She told them they'd need it ASAP and was told that it would be available the following afternoon. Just as she ended the call and almost collapsed from her own exposure (which she has still not told anyone about), another employee came in to tell her that others also became ill. She called David, who told her he'd be there immediately. He left Bobby in Sonia's care for the moment.

Juan was ignoring his cell phone because he had things to do or more accurately, a thing named Perla. They were starting to do the mattress mambo when her cell phone began ringing. He tried to stop her answering it by saying that Susan and Miguel should have the situation under control, but she grabbed it and saw that it was Carito calling her. She pressed the answer button and Carito was saying “Where are you? Everyone here is sick! I'm afraid I might get sick too. I need your help.” He did not want to do a damned thing.

Luciana stoked Marta's face until she woke up. She told her that Lillian called for an ambulance, but Marta said “She didn't help me” before passing out again.
Susan was about to pass out and Miguel arrived just in time to prevent her falling. She kept saying she was alright. David arrived and Susan updated him on the status of the poison antidote and that she could not locate Juan. David called him on his cell and Perla handed the cell to him, saying that it was the boss and he should answer. He did and tried to say it would be impossible to return right away. David told him he had to because this was a major crisis. David told him “If it's too much bother for you to return, you're fired.” [¡Por fin!]

Graciela was peeved that she didn't have her way with David this evening and because of las Muñoz. Lillian started to say “If it were up to me – ”
If it were up to you, what?” shouted Luciana, who had heard this little exchange as she left her mother's room. “That you'd rather she died?”
What are you talking about?”
My mother told me you didn't want to help her when she fell ill.” When Lillian made a dismissive sound without a change of expression Luciana couldn't hold back. “How wretched you must be to be that cruel and cynical –”
Uh, excuse me, who are you to come into my house and insult me?”
You were always a bad person but this? This is too much.”
Lillian looked down her nose at Luciana while Graciela looked at her with contempt. She seemed mildly amused by the argument. Luciana wasn't fazed by either of them.

Listen to me, Juan, all my people are sick and it's your fault because you bought them.”
David, this isn't my fault.”
How can that be when I didn't agree to those purchases? And here are the consequences.”
Yes, and I told you I've been primarily concerned about the finances.”
But not at the cost of others' lives!”
But how was I supposed to know that, David?” Juan shouted.
You know what? If it's at all possible just enjoy yourself. Don't bother coming back. I don't want to see you.”
David, David!” Juan shouted before realizing that David had ended the call. He threw his cell onto the bed and paced like an angry animal.
You said it wasn't your fault. He can't fire you. What are we going to do now?” asked Perla. [Who, if she had any brains would be looking for the exit.]

I always was saying to my mother that she should be more fair to Marta,” said Graciela.
What?” said Lillian, looking at her.
Yes, Mother. And Luciana, if you want to confirm that ask David.”
Don't involve David in this with all the problems he has?” Lillian told her spawn. “This is a misunderstanding –”
This is no misunderstanding,” said Luciana, who didn't believe a word of this. “I am sure you would throw her into the trash.”
The trash? I told Sonia to call the ambulance.”
I don't believe a word of this.”
Mother, at least you did something for her –”
That was what I did! Well, if you don't believe me, ask Sonia.”
Even worse! I don't believe either of you. You're the same. Thanks for the advice, Graciela. Of course I will talk to David.”
Luciana, I don't know what your mother said to you,” said Lillian. “But she was under the influence of various drugs when she said that – ”
Why would my mother invent things?”
I don't know. She always does.”
Bobby's arrival stopped this. He wanted to see Marta. Lillian told him that this was not possible at the moment.
Why not? I want to hug her. You're treating her very badly, Grandma.” [Out of the mouths of babes...]
Bobby stood close to Luciana as Lillian made a face and turned away. Being bested by a 12-year-old boy was truly humiliating.

David was with Susan and Miguel. He called César to tell him about Susan.

Lillian tried to tell Bobby that she had called for help for Marta and he shouldn't worry. She wasn't a bad person. “I'm your grandmother and I love you.”
It doesn't look that way,” he said, clinging to Luciana.
Señora, you have never treated my mother well. I don't believe a word you've said and I'm going to make sure David knows it.”
César came in to say the ambulance had arrived.
I'm going with my mother,” Luciana said.
I'm going to take care of the employees,” César said, as he exited.
If anything worse happens to my mother, I'm going to really tell you what I think,” Luciana said.
Graciela studied her mother's expression, which she could only half-see.

Perla told Juan that drinking wasn't going to solve anything. He told her he wasn't going to do anything about this. She told him she was getting out of this before she got fired, too.

The EMT personnel went to Marta's room to get her and Bobby asked whether Marta was going to die.
If your mother died, anyone could,” Lillian said. Graciela quickly told Bobby not to worry and offered to escort him to his father's room where Fernanda was. She looked back at her mother and asked “Mother, how did you arrive at that?” Lillian looked at her. She was smirking, but Lillian didn't have a clue as to what that really meant.

Juan stopped Perla from packing and admitted his guilt to her, claiming that everything he did was for her. She still questioned putting the others' lives at risk. He claimed ignorance of the consequences and told her he loved her. The brainless bimbo fell for the crook, lie, and stinker.

Luciana paced in the hospital waiting room praying for her mother as David arrived. She said she would die if anything happened to her mother and held Juan responsible David told her that he dismissed him, saying he won't have anyone that irresponsible working for him. He updated her on the others.

Susan was in the employee housing hooked up to an IV. She wanted to get up to see Tano. Carito was looking after her. Tano came in carrying his IV bag, which Carito put on the same pole as Susan's after telling him he was supposed to stay in bed. He had insisted on checking up on Susan.
What will we do if the employees don't get better?” she wondered.
Don't worry; the important thing is that you recover,” he said.
Carito discreetly departed.

Miguel arrived and Luciana hugged him. David bore this silently but was not pleased. Miguel updated Luciana and said they would need additional workers for a while. She said she would return for the duration and wanted to go back to help Susan. David offered to help Adolfo, but Luciana said not to; she would take care of that. César came out and told Luciana her mother was better. She went in to see her. Miguel explained he would stay to help. “Men don't abandon a ship when it's under attack.”

Luciana updated her mother on the others. Marta asked about Ramón and Luciana said he was told he couldn't work for a while. She had gotten the worst of it when trying to wash the contaminated clothes. Luciana delivered the get-well wishes of the kids and then told Marta that she was coming back to the vineyard. She wasn't sure whether it was permanent, but said they'll take it one day at a time. She did insist, however, on being told what Marta and Lillian were arguing about and why Lillian hated her so much.

Perla spoke to Carito on her cell and found out that Susan had spoken to David about Juan, who fired him. Carito warned her that she could be fired as well. Perla didn't want to believe her. Juan came back from the bathroom and wasn't pleased to find her talking to anyone. He grabbed the cell, ending the call. Carito called right back and Perla said she had to answer. When she did she told Carito she would be back the next day.

Can Juan do us all a favor & kill Perla already ?

Thanks Urban Anthropologistia. You A R E quick. I do not know how you do it.

Steve, I thought last night when she 'turned on' him and was preparing to leave that her end was near. 1 looked ready to snap and strangle her or just beat her to death, then the selfish little turd decided she is more valuable alive, given that she is a brainless servant who will do ANYTHING he tells her to.

I thought my seeing her in a man shirt might soften me a little, but no, I still hate her.

Now if Dim Bulb Dave is smart (he is NOT) he will go personally and clean out 1's desk and things, sort out the personal stuff and leave it at the guard shack, then go through the rest with a fine tooth comb.

Carita knows 1 and Perla are together, so DBD needs to know, then almost fire her enough for her to give him the secret envelope.

I used to come in at night and go through my employees computers. You would be astounded what simply looking at the Favorites on a company supplied machine will tell you.

Thank you so much UA. And thank you again for jumping in on this show at it's start and gathering us all round.

"The brainless bimbo fell for the crook, lie, and stinker"

I don't hate Perla, her behavior sure, but I feel sorry for her. She was abandoned and unfortunately as a child worshiped the wrong man. He mistreated her but she still clung to him, starved for any attention.

Graciela cannot help herself but if she would shut up and leave Luciana alone and let Miguel do the work for her, Luciana would be out of David's life.

Boy, note to David. Don't piss Luciana off and telling her I'm sorry don't work. You stepped in it for doubting her less than a day and will pay the rest of your life. You did ok last night as she cut you up in front of Graciela and Miguel. Find another woman.

What? Susan is in love with Carlos, yuck.

I know Luciana is willing to help but she's not done a thing when she had a full time gig and as a temp I'd expect even less. It will give her a chance to rub Miguel in Davids face though.

César must live next door.

Did anyone else notice how Lillian just lightly kicked Marta at first the way some people try to rouse a lazy dog? Just completely contemptuous. Loved it when Grace immediately turned on Lil as soon as Ferbrat and others showed up. Oh how I would love to see those two in all out war, but there is an uneasy peace due to mutually assured destruction.

Urban, you continued your tradition of excellence.

"her bodacious boss and his vampiric companion" and "He followed Luciana out leaving Graciela alone with her red lipstick and her attitude" were among my favorites.

"She was sufficiently lost that she didn't hear David the first time he asked where Lillian was". Yes, Sonia was in her own little fantasy land, dreaming that someone who is barely aware of her existence will one day look at her with unrestrained love and passion. If you can't have the real thing, her lapses into fantasy are not a bad alternative. Provided of course she hurts no one trying to make such an absurdity occur :)

"Juan stopped Perla from packing and admitted his guilt to her, claiming that everything he did was for her". Kirby, I agree that Perla is a fool. If he has ever uttered a kind word or done a good deed it has long passed from my memory.

Graciela showed her hand to David quite clearly last night. He has always seemed to flinch from her touch so I can't imagine her wiles will have any effect on him (famous last words).

I am relieved Marta is on the road to recovery.

UA, your dialog translations are always so helpful and are greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much.

Diana

Tofie your 'find another woman' is about right. You have to admire Luciana's independence and ability to tell the truth always to everybody, but she has the finesse of a stick of dyn-o-mite. I'd be pissed too if I had actually done nothing wrong, and had the hate of almost every female except my own Mother, and the jury is still out on how much Marta really cares about her. Add the false accusation of grand theft, and you have a Baaaaad attitude. She is fiesty, in the restaurant she looked ready to claw Gracie's eyes out. At least she got a big DimDave hug later on.

I admire Luciana's independence and always ready to confront the truth with everyone but herself. She wants David but lies to herself and unwilling to do anything to have him, instead she goes along tepidly with Miguel.

David on the other hand is a gonner but accepts his fate. I hate the only way he passively attempts is mirroring what seems to work for Miguel. Miguel defends, David defends, Miguel hugs, David hugs, Miguel tells her he loves her, David tells her he loves her. Come on David, if you want her show us something instead of being a parrot.

THANKS Urban for your careful recounting of all the she said/she said business here.

I was starting to think NOBODY had called an ambulance.

Graciela's behavior at the restaurant was so beyond the pale I couldn't believe it. HELLO Gracie, do you not see that Luci is on a date with Miguel? Does this seem like the right moment to tell her to leave David alone, when Luci got here first and with another guy to boot??

Ugh - Sonia pawing Bobby, trying to be motherly. He wasn't having it. Don't paw other people's children who don't want you to paw them.

Perla came close to walking out on Juan, or was that only a ploy. At one point he looked as though he was going to bitch-slap her. I was watching that hand. But he pulled it in before anything could happen. Perla has no clue how much danger she's in.

thank you, UA, for that detailed recap. I needed it because this cold just will not go away , and after a long day of work, I felt terrible and went to bed ten minutes into this show. Watching all the poisoned people lying around looking I'll just made me feel worse !

I am confused. Is Cesar just Dave's bff or is he the official vineyard physician? Does he live at the vineyard? He seems to always be there on call.

Also, shouldn't all of these folks who were poisoned have gone to the hospital? Where did all those IV S come from? Does Cesar have a whole clinic there in the vineyard?

Gee, Juan is a louse. He has no regard for anyone . Now that he has finally boinked Perla in a bed, how is he going to get her back on the desk? Oh, I forgot..he was fired , so ...no desk.

It looks as though Susan has decided to go for the young hombre. have we figured out how old those two are supposed to be?

Susanlynn, I have given up trying to figure out how old these people are supposed to be. I now just assume that everyone is 30 except for the kids, and all relationships are age-appropriate. It's less stressful that way.

Luci --- 24
David --- 44
Tanto --- 14
Miguel --- 24
FerBrat -- 14
Carita -- 14
Perla -- Same as ONE below
Graciela -- 44
Marta -- 44
Sonia -- 34
Lillian -- 84
Ceasar -- 44
Susan -- 14
ONE -- Does not matter, he is as old as he will ever be.

Kirby...thanks for the giggles..tee-hee..it is a gray, cold day here , so I. Needed a giggle.

Kirby: The big question is what does Lillian have on Marta ? Will she expose Marta's affair with Don Fernando ?

I agree that everyone exposed to those poisons should be in the hospital. Dare I ask if there will have to be a follow-up story about cancer?

It's anyone's guess whether Perla was bluffing or not but I think we all agree that she is playing with fire and will get burned before this story is over.

I think FerBrat is supposed to be 15 or 16. We haven't seen her drive; if she can drive on her own she would be 17.5 years old or a legally emancipated minor. She is neither of those things.

Carlos or "Tano" (I don't know why I hate that nick) has to be younger than Leon on the basis of how small he was in the first week of episodes. He can't be more than 20 now.

Steve I think Marta was in on the deportation of her Hub-a-Dub and Luci and Lillian knows or suspects it. We require about 100 more TN episodes for Gracie and Luci to develop their complete hatred of each other before they find out they are SISTERS.! Ha Ha Ha... Maybe Marta's husband was about to find out about Fernando and his wife (Marta) so they got GuttyMan to deport him, cause she was already preggers. Sheezs, shut up kj.

That reminds me, ONE knows Grace killed Lisa, so we can't kill him yet.

Sue..It is about the same weather here in FloriDuh, grey and raining. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks UA for that very enjoyable and detailed recap. It was a pleasure to read.

I am feeling more and more sorry for Perla and the state she is all mixed up in with Juan. He is such a sociopath, the kind that abuses women and has no conscience about it whatsoever. He is the kind that when everything goes wrong for him, blames his girlfriend for it. He makes her think "if only you did this or that better, we wouldn't be in this mess!" Perla is showing all the signs of a battered wife right now and she is taking the abuse because she is so caught up with trying to have a better life, she is settling for being abused.

Is Carito's cousin a man or a woman? It's a man, right? I'm ready for some guy to show up and stir up some trouble. Why let the women have all the fun?

Come to think of it, David's going to need a replacement for Juan... and the bar's been set pretty low for that job. (The main priority to be allowed to work at David's vineyard right now is to have a body temperature below 102 degrees.) Carito's cousin might be just right to replace Juan. All he really needs to do is be nice to Perla and not poison the grapes, and that place will be totally transformed.

Thanks, Urban! A detailed, and right smart read as usual! You know what? I was stricken with how genuinely afraid Lillian seemed to be when Marta collapsed. Yeah, she pushed her foot with her own and at first thought she was faking but when she continued to be unresponsive and started to seize, she seemed really scared to me. And she really did yell for Sonia and kept on til Sonia arrived. Anywho. Marta did ask for help when she first started feeling weird and as she was on her way to hitting the deck but how was Lillian to know what to do or what was about to happen.

Ok. Enough of that. Yep, love feisty Luci and agree that attacking Luci while she's on a date with Miguel was pretty dumb. Interesting observation, Tofie, about David echoing Miguel's actions with Luci. I don't know if the writers intended that but that's exactly what he's doing! Lisa seemed to have a strong personality, he should know how to relate to a strong, independent woman. Oh well, David needs to get a clue in any number of ways.

Kirby, you're right about David cleaning out and examining the contents of Juan's computer and office is right on but show ending. Too bad. :/

I think Lillian might have been afraid of Marta having something contagious due to how quickly she collapsed. Epidemics are nothing to brush off. Even if it's your worst enemy you get an ambulance because epidemics need to be stopped. It likely never occurred to her that it could have been anything like pesticide poisoning.

No way would Marta have "been in" on the deportation. The writers didn't do a good job of explaining why Marta didn't go back to Mexico later to be with Marcos and Luciana. If there is anything that Lillian has on Marta it's the possibility that Luciana is Fernando's child, something that is screaming at us in view of all the epithets about her being a "wild animal" and "You are not part of this family." This is partially meaningless now that Marcos is dead but could alienate Marta from her children because of the secrecy.

Julie..oooh...I would like the cousin to turn out to be Mi telenovio Marcelo Cordoba. I volunteer to take his temperature. I have not seen him lately. He definitely could shake things up. He usually plays a good guy, but he once played a Tialoving abuelo killer, and I still forgave him. I don't want to see him with nasty Perla. How about Susan or one more guy pursuing Luci?

These novelas always have several people lusting after both the leading man and the leading lady. In my favorite tv show that is not a telenovela, I have counted at least six people crushing on the leading man..three females and three males...yes, the guy drives both sexes wild with desire. Form a line, folks....but he only loves his wife.

Is that Outlander, Susanlynn? This is a leading man I must behold!

Lila..oh yeah...that's the leading man everybody desires. ...the 6ft 3" reconsider Highlander warrior. SO...have you read the book series? Did you watch the first two seasons of the TV show? I know that Vivi and Carlos both watched. I am anxiously awaiting season three which they are now filming.

Wait..what.."reconsider"?????...is supposed to be " redheaded "....thanks, autocorrect.

I'm waiting on someone for David. He's got Graciela's number and doesn't know Sonia exist. Wonder if Alfonso's daughter, when she returns, can be worthy and salve for Luciana's rebuff.

While things haven't been easy for Luciana poor David owes the bank a fortune, nearly lost his home, tricked into a partnership with Graciela, his wife was murdered and only now trying again, nearly lost the relationship with his kids, swindled by his childhood friend, rejected by a girl half his age still throwing sarcastic barbs, his foreman flexes, threatens to leave with his crush and now most of his employees are ill. How much can the guy take? If it weren't for Cesar....

Urban--A couple of things I heard that can add a bit to your wonderful recap. I feel humbled by your command of Spanish and the ability to get the conversations correct. Thank you so much for spearheading the recaps for this tn.

1. Minor addition, but it just shows where Graciela's head is. During their one-sided restaurant conversation, she was trying to persuade David to come with her on a trip to Madrid. She assured him it would be fun. He, on the other hand was distracted by seeing Luci with Miguel.
2. Juan admitted his culpability in the pesticide fiasco by telling Perla that he posed as the provider and so, basically, his goose was screwed. In desperation, she kept telling him she'd do anything for him because she loved him--ugghh. Perla is now the loose cannon. When she gets home, she won't do anything to point the finger at Juan. How she will defend him will be interesting. No doubt, he'll be back. He's going to put the screws on Graciela to get his job back.

Interesting side note--it was Luci who "asked" for that hug from David upstairs. When he saw her standing there, crying, he wasn't sure what to do. She turned to him and sunk her head onto his chest and he wrapped his arms around her. Our spunky little heroine COULD have dried her tears and heard him out then waited to get a tender hug from Miguel later. She didn't. She's a gonner (but we already knew that).

Loved your line, "He [David] followed Luciana out leaving Graciela alone with her red lipstick and her attitude."

Susanlynn--I'm an delayed Outlander fan. I can't watch as it is broadcast (don't have a subscription). I just bought Season Two and will settle down to watch Verrrra Soon. I'm on A Breath of Snow and Ashes now.

tofie and Diana--your thoughts were also my thoughts vis a vis Luciana/David--you just posted them first. (Just now doing a careful reading of the comments.)

Graciela is all about Graciela just as Juan is all about Juan. That's all we need to know about either of them.

Neither one would ever be faithful to any spouse. I can easily imagine Graciela getting bored living at the vineyard and fooling around with anyone looking for her kind of action. Juan will just think himself entitled to any female who twerks in front of him. If Graciela were to give him a shot he'd take it in a New York minute.

Kirby--Yes, I'm with you, we haven't seen the last of Juan (maybe in a courtroom).
No, the deportation was all Lilian's doing. Marta would have been with her husband and daughter if Little Leon hadn't gotten sick.

Cynthia--Amen! Perla is a lost soul and no one realizes it. She comes across as so confident in her "knowledge" of men--given the advice she gave Carito to make Miguel jealous with Leon.

Julie--I think Carito's cousin is male. I heard primo and not prima.

tofie--I love your comment at 3:56 on David. He's the one overburdened right now. What else can possibly happen....if other vineyard workers are getting sick, it means they managed to apply the pesticide to the vines. His whole harvest may get quarantined.

Tofie...yikes...When you run down a list of woes like that, I do feel sorrow for Dave. I guess he deserves Luci.

OT... Anita...They made some big changes in the storyline for Season two concerning the relationship between JAmie and Claire which I did not like. The costumes , on the other hand, are spectacular. If you want to get all the latest news on season three, go to Compuserve outlander.

Anita..primo...when I heard kept hearing that in my first telenovela Alborada, I thoughtbthe two hombres were calling each other "the best! " Well, I hope primo is an interesting guy.

Sleeting here...brrrrr.

Aw, thanks Tofie for that empathetic detailing of what's dogging David! Yah, he has pretty much been getting the shaft from the beginning of this little romp! I'm ready for some romancing, though! Keep asking for hugs, Luci!

Oh yeah, I loved Sonia's little escape into fantasy, I thought it was subtle but in your face at the same time: She looked on as David held and hugged and comforted his son. Sonia was imagining those firm, chiseled biceps wrapped around her and herself pressed against David's body . . . HA! David was totally oblivious to her, of course, but Sonia was in the zone! She kills me!

To round out the trio of longing was Carito. Did y'all see how she flung herself in Miguel's arms when he got to the big house? (I think it was the big house). He totally ignored her and then she tried to cop another hug and he blew her off.

OT - Susanlynn - haven't read the OL books. Maybe I should do that first, hunh? Hmmm, sounds like a nice Christmas present!

Urban remember there has already been a thing between Juan and Grace, because when she came back he asked if she wanted another go-round and she told him in his dreams, or something to that effect

OK girls, I understand:
Tonto is hot
Miguel is yummy
Cesar, in a pinch, right?
Guiterres if you like the uniform look
David, Ooo La La

Now, the girls do-able ratings

Susan - yes
Luci - yes,YES
Carita - little girl
Perla - Yuck
Graciela - Only if I thought I could jump up and tell her
it was the worst I had ever had before she told me the same.

OT..Lila...I think that today on!y there is a sale on AMazon on season one and two DVDs...that would be a great Xmas present in addition to the wonderful books. Wow, girl, if you like firm chiseling..this series is verra good . As for the books, there are 8 so far. The ninth is being written right now, and the author thinks that there may be only one more before the epic saga finally ends. The first book was written over twenty years ago ! I got the first two from my friend, and I bought the rest at Barnes and Noble after reading the college library's copies.

Ot..Lila..I just checked..for today only Amazon has season two of Outlander Blu ray set for $34.99.

Ot..Lila...the Amazon offer ends at 11.59 today Dec 6. It might be for Season one also. Check the Amazon site. It is the collectors edition with extra stuff.

UA: Perla keeps playing with fire, she has no clue that Juan is likely going to pull a Franco on her (see what happened to Marinita on "Pasion y Poder" or Ligia on "El Color De La Pasion").

Thanks, Susanlynn!!!

UA Thanks, the recap was good. David has a real mess on his hands with his twisted ma inlaw and warped sicko murderous sister Inlaw who is messin up his daughter. He can't trust any of these loving family members. Accept bobby. They seem stuck in the twilight zone. I hope they get out before juan kill all of them with his evil pesticide plot.

Thanks UA.

Urban, thanks for an enjoyable recap. It was a great read.
Helen
