La Doña

a couple things I've gleaned from the show,

Rafael is following up on the Colonel's suspicions, he figures Miguel is dead and Francisco is working out of the country so he comes to Daniel. I guess the Monkeys have done this rape thing a number of times but they always kill the girl as he thinks Daniel killed AG but we see again the flashback where he didn't, Rafael thinks Daniel is a killer like the other Monkeys and is wasting his time trying to make amends, first he accuses him of being the one taking them out, but then wonders about that girl that got away, Daniel sets things straight by how could a poor person set up the Colonel with the drugs, no it has to be someone who is rich and powerful.

(what would a pallet full of cocaine be worth)

also if you didn't catch it, Diego has not made a formal statement on the accident, and hasn't even been identified, just that Margarita told Saul that the guy at the hospital was there.

liked it when Saul gets on Lopez for trusting Valeria and he turns it around with how could Saul trust AG.

interesting that the reporter figured out how AG turn things around on Lazaro, she ran his company into the ground by bleeding off the assets, then used them to start her own company, Sandoval, and acquired his, saving it from ruin and and his employees jobs, always the good person.

hmm, so Jaime wants Ximena to represent him in a suit against AG, who would most likely be defended by Saul, didn't think of that he says.

LA DONA:

Can't sleep (this big event in my city today has me wound up), so thanks Deb for giving me something to read other than news. :) Great overview of some of the major points from last night. I also liked when Lopez turned the argument around on Saul about AG and Valeria.

The other thing we learned about Daniel is that the attack on AG and her family was the one and only crime he participated in with the Monkeys, and that the group seems to have disbanded shortly after that. It seemed to be implied that he was also the one who let Regina run off, in addition to not killing AG.

Wouldn't it be easy to figure out AG is the girl they raped if they went back through the crime records and found the names of her murdered parents? Even if the rape isn't on record, the three homicides that night should be, right?

I was glad to hear that Diego hasn't testified yet. Valeria sure panicked when Saul mentioned that other witness he was determined to find (again, why doesn't Margarita's testimony count?). Diego visits Lydia, as usual, this time trying to use touch stimulation with a feather, all the while prattling on, and Lydia opens her eyes!

Gabino stalks Monica and beats the stuffing out of Dr. Alvaro when he sees them hugging. Then he goes to Rafael for help getting out of trouble for it. Was that a glint of jealousy in Saul's eye when he saw how close the doc came to kissing Monica while she was tending his bruises and thanking him for being such a great guy?

It's interesting what a voice of reason Felipe has become, now that he's not drugged by AG and drunk. I really disliked him before, but now I'm coming around. Especially after he had that talk the other day with Yesenia about not using and taking advantage of Lazaro.

La Doña

Great comments, deb and Vivi! I too loved the way Lopecito turned around Saúl's statement re trusting Valeria. And thanks, deb, for pointing out that Diego hasn't yet made a statement and in fact hasn't even been identified. I've been enjoying his visits to Lydia, and this time she even opened her eyes. A good sign (I hope).

I was interested to see that Rafael said scornfully to Daniel "You were the weakest one" or something like that, and I think one of them also commented that Rafael had been the group's boss.

Vivi, I too noticed a spark of jealousy on Saúl's part when he saw Mónica tending to Adolfo's wounds. Frankly, I think the doctorcito may be a better match for her than Saúl is, but I doubt that that's the way things will turn out.

Vivi, were you a private investigator in another life (or in this one)? I liked your suggestion about how Rafael et al. could find out the identity of the woman they raped that night and perhaps the one that got away (do they know that the two women are sisters?). I sure hope they aren't reading CarayCaray! :-)

LA DONA:

Juanita- LOL! Let's hope they're not reading.

Yes, I was surprised to hear Daniel say that Rafael was the boss of the Monkeys. I would have thought it was Cespedes. Rafael really has a very dark side hidden under that controlled exterior if he was capable of leading and inspiring a group of young guys to rape and murder people for kicks. The Emiliano apple really doesn't fall far from the tree.

La Doña

"The Emiliano apple really doesn't fall far from the tree." Vivi, you're so right!

La Fan. This show is really growing on me. The acting is good, some of the episodes are genuinely funny and it has kind of a sweet outlook on life, without being overly saccharine. As we might have expected, Vale is the perfect personal assistant, making Lucas eat better and not drink alcohol before the afternoon (he may not be a better person at the end of the novela, but he should be healthier), besides which, she diffused a possible confrontation between Roxie and Salma and gave the narco/mafioso a piece of her mind--he no doubt be foolish enough not to realize that he's no match for her. Además, even though the character Bob was a total gay stereotype, Miguel gave a very nice PSA on the importance of tolerating and appreciating members of all groups. And wow! Either Gabriel or Lucas could be Tomás' father! Thank goodness for DNA. Also, I liked how Adriana turned out to be a very good company president, despite her awkwardness. Transferring the 20 employees-- supposed to be fired as one of her father's last acts as president--rather than firing them was an excellent move. Now her employees love her and she has creatied a wonderful atmosphere of company loyalty.

La fan. will be foolish

La Fan. Also, Vale seems to have accepted the director's challenge to make sure that Lucas shows up to work every day with his lines memorized.

La Fan. And of course Miguel's sweet PSA made Miriam think he's probably gay, and her reaction to it made him think she's gay and that the blonde beautician is her partner--and he's incredibly sweet and accepting about it.

La Fan

This is growing on me too! I wasn't even going to watch it, but I like what I've seen so far.

This comment has been removed by the author.

LA DONA:

Vivi: You're saying Daniel was the one being initiated that night ? I thought Rafael was the one, considering he doesn't kill ?

Juanita: Interested to know who's Monica's bio dad: Daniel, Rafael, the Colonel, or Francisco ?

LA DONA:

Juanita: At some point, Rafael's going to figure out the 2 women are Regina & AG (I'd like to see Karma HIT AG).

When Karma HITS AG: I will NOT feel sorry for that expletive!

La fan #3

Another well-edited nicely flowing episode.

Span Prof: I have a feeling that finding out who Miguel's dad is is going to be great fun.

I enjoyed:
Gabriel doing the old double cross on Lucas and making Vale his personal assistant rather than just burying her somewhere in the personnel dept. far away from him and Salma as he had requested.
Adriana finding job placements for the 20 workers in the corporation's other companies
Miriam trying to find out if Miguel were gay and then being labeled as a lesbian in return. Ha!
Roxie wanting to talk to talk to Lucas about "our love" and Lucas responding "our what?"
The doctor who was in worse shape than his patients.

I felt sorry for Diego being told by the doctor that the only reason Adriana brought him to the doctor was to protect herself from a possible future lawsuit.

La Fan

Here are a few other important bits of info from episode 3:

Adriana's mother was sleeping with Adriana's boyfriend sometime in the past and Adriana walked in on them.

The maid mentioned something about Carlos (Adriana's father) pretending to be poor in the past and using a different name.

Eloisa, who runs the café, told Vale that her sons Diego and Miguel have different fathers but no one else knows.

So... wild speculation: Is Carlos Miguel's real father? (Carlos can't be Diego's father because then he and Adriana would be siblings, and I'm pretty sure they end up together.)

J, I do not think that is wild speculation at all just good detective work!

La Fan

From the very opening we see that Gabriel is insanely jealous of Lucas' success. Then we later learn that they were both with the same woman but from Salma we know that Lucia was Lucas' one true love and that Lucia was a huge fan and that's how Vale also became his fan. I am interested to see how this pseudo love triangle works out. Who really is the father of Thomas, and I enjoy seeing how Lucas keeps looking at Vale like he can't believe how "good" she is. So far it's a sweet story with the usual novela twists. (Jealous girlfriends, murderous husbands, unknown baby daddy).

LA Dona:

At first I thought I only have Lazaro and Ysenia to make me gag, but now I have to get thru Isabella and Emiliano too..urghhh...these two. This is too bad cuz I actually liked Isabella in the beginning.

I want everything that AG has done to get back at hers, but is it bad that I want it to hit AFTER she's done with the monkeys. I am trying to speculate how this revenge plot will go down for AG, but if at the end she turns in to the whole I-must-let-go-to-be-happy type, I would be really disappointed.

I couldnt pick up a lot of things but what does Monica think of AG now? She doesnt know that AG is all evil yet, does she?

La Doña

Isabela turned when her gran amor, first love, Marcos, out-of-the-blue dumped her, if only she knew the rest of that story.

I'm even rooting for the Colonel, what?
(and why doesn't he get his own lawyer?)

when AG fessed up to Saul that she was complicit in a innocent death, I was thinking Guillermo, (where is my dose of "you don't even know what she is capable of")

even Margarita has gotten a good reality check on AG, but so far Monica hasn't, and she needs the money, her dad, Lydia, even Yesenia isn't working,

LA DONA:

Deb: Looks like AG will send her henchmen to whack Daddy Aguirre!

La Doña

Wow, this novela keeps heating up. The one thing that's not heating up for me are the sex scenes between AG and Saúl. Blech. Yes, I suppose I'm getting old, but....

Speaking of AG, I was surprised to see that she owns something that doesn't flaunt her oversized (and probably surgically enhanced) boobs. What she wore last night when she went to see Saúl not only didn't flaunt them, it completely covered them. Ah, such modesty.

deb, I too thought that AG was about to fess up about Guillermo, and I loved your "(where is my dose of "you don't even know what she is capable of")."

I liked the scene between Diego and his mother. He looked a lot stronger (and better looking) in that confrontation than he has up 'til now. Braulio has berated him for being such a wuss, but I doubt he'll be pleased with the change.

La Doña: Great comments, all. I'm with Juanita about the increasingly in-your-face sex scenes with Saúl and AG. they are so-o-oo- not sexy even though the directors have been ramping up the titillation, and adding unnecessary detail where none is wanted. Do men watch these shows? (I know, I know) but really, I don't need to see the obvious. However, that said, if they were a convincing couple I would have less difficulty. The plain fact is that Saúl is such an idiot that he doesn't even qualify as a galán IMO. (spellcheck just wanted to make him a "gallon"). If he's so smart, and so courageously on the side of righteousness, then why is he so idiotic? there is a plausibility factor that is failing me here.

I have been rooting for Diego since his first appearance, and as I have said before, just wait for that unsightly combed-forward hairdo to disappear as soon as he comes into his own.

deb, I LIKE that colonel! He's not playing by anybody's rulebook and as a wildcard in the Monkee Concealment & Obfuscation Program, he is cruising for a big takedown. Does anybody have a feel for the trajectory of this novela? I'm thinking we'll be in phase 2 when all the Monkees know of the existence of the threat, including the AWOL Francisco.

La Fan 4

I am enjoying this way more than I thought I would. I am quite amused by the jokes about Lucas' "fake" Colombian accent, and the rate at which Vale speaks is a fun challenge to understand.

Too bad my classes start again Monday so I can't commmit to recapping, but here's what I remember for Friday's episode:

Neither Vale nor Eloisa will tell the private investigator about Tomas, and they assume that the father has found out about him. The PI knows they know where Tomas is.

Salma knows about Gabriel and Lucia's affair. She has kept it a secret from Lucas, and she wants Gabriel to keep the secret about Tomas from Lucas forever. She later tells Lucas they should get married since she has been waiting years already.

Miriam likes Miguel, but still doesn't know if he's gay or not. Jessica wants Diego and is annoyed at how much he talks about Adriana.

Adriana takes Diego to the cafe after he is released from the hospital. She apparently has a weakness for chocolate and eats too much because she gets sick the next day. Diego is there to catch her when she almost passes out at work. Benicio does not like how friendly she is with the employees.

Adriana has a flashback about her mom sleeping with her boyfriend and she declared that she was done with love and men. At the end of the episode, that ex-boyfriend barges into her office.

Salma tries to get Vale arrested by putting a bracelet in her purse and accusing her of stealing. Vale notes her character did the same exact thing in one of her telenovelas. Luckily Lucas knew it was a setup and claimed he did it as a joke. Vale saved his life, and he saved her from going to jail, so they are even.

Roxie's husband forgives her since she was rejected by Lucas and she regrets cheating on him. Roxie calls Lucas to taunt him that her husband still wants to kill him. His men know where he is and she sends a picture of Lucas and Vale to prove it. Lucas looks around nervously and kisses Vale as the men walk right on by.

La Fan

thanks so much J! there is so much that happens in each show, whew!

oh and Gabe shows up at the restaurant (after the PI got nothing) looking for info on Tomas, identifies himself as Lucas' manager, the guy that hired Vale, and Eloisa just can't say enough.

Thanks, J for the great recap and Deb for your comment.

This is so much better than I expected, too. I hope it does okay in the ratings. Does Telemundo reschedule or yank novelas that do not live up to rating expectations? I last recapped "Sueño de amor" on Univision and that they ended up relegated to the afternoons.

I continue to enjoy the interplay between Adriana and Diego. He gives her a little jab about "suing" some one and she talks about having a weak spot for "bombones": he thinks she is talking about guys but alas she is just talking about chocolates. They looked like some delicious truffles to me. What a connoisseur! She started off with just sniffing them. She is insatiable: but only for chocolates. Too funny! Too bad for Diego. :( (for now at least)

The scene with Roxie repeatedly driving Lucas' head into his steering wheel was a hoot. He is quite the pushover. He really needs Vale.

Hmmm. . . So Salma wants to "formalize" things with Lucas. Will he cave to the path of least resistance? He sort of seems like that kind of guy. There may be hope because Salma had to go through Vale to talk to him in his cell phone.

The Miriam/Miguel who is gay?/ who is not? Has gotten stale. Time to move on.

Whoopsie: still getting used to the Telemundo page: the last entry should have been labeled "La fan"

La Fan

Jarifa- someone is doing a nice job with the wiki page for "La Fan" and "La Dona" listing the chapters with ratings when available.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Fan

bad ratings on Telemundo generally mean getting out the scissors.

yes, Roxie smashing Lucas' head in to the steering wheel WAS a hoot.

also loved it when Salma called Lucas and Vale answered his phone out of breath (from pulling Lucas along through the sand), and he was out of breath as well, Salma knew very well what they were up to.

La Fan

Jarifa, Telemundo sometimes moves primetime TNs to the afternoon slot if the ratings aren't good. Last year Quién es Quién was moved to two hours in the afternoon, but it still ran for the full 120 episodes. (It makes no difference to me since I don't have access to Telemundo through my cable provider so I always have to watch online the next day anyway.)

Diego is already my favorite character. I love his interactions with Adriana.

La Fan

Thanks, Deb and J for the info!

La Fan. Thanks for starting the recap and for your observant remarks. One of the many things I like about the novel is its pacing--unlike Silvana. Way too much happening to get bored! Also this is very much a social media novela--anything interesting happens to Lucas and the bystanders' cell phone cameras come right out. As a result, Vale is becoming something of a celebrity too. 10 years ago that wouldn't have been possible. I thought it was hilarious when Lucas said pseudo-regretfully that women just get obsessed with him. Not only is Vale helping Lucas learn lines but she's become his acting coach too. Funny but impressive how she remembers every scene of every one of his novelas. Miguel once again shows his sweetness, decency and integrity when he says he thinks that Tomas's father has a right to know about his son.

La Fan. Definitely it wouldn't have been possible 20 years ago!

LA DONA JAN 16TH
Thanks to all for updates!!
Juanita: awesome recaps!! Monica should give the doctor some play!! She is young, much too young for Saul!!

I got to wrap my mind around this...ok... Yessenia, that’s my girl!!The bouncing check, she had her mouth all ready for a taste and ouch that hurts. I see that Ms.AG is a killer, on the real tip!
The killer that was busted on the tenement, sorry but they should have busted his kneecaps!!
Lazaro [my man!!] is ready for action, but its going to take some work, MS Yessenia, get some goat weed on the boiler!! HE need some action did you dig how he laid on a KISS THAT SHOCKED HER!!! Don’t let that sweet innocent face fool you!! Go JEFFE/daddy!!

Yessenia throws a serious Tarot deck, her 'WAITE/RYDER DECK 'is a classic set, and easy to interpret!!
The 'LONG -CON’ on Cespedes was clean and precise, the offer of help ran- right -off - his back, I do not care what AG or -Braulio tell them self, ***
I think the man is going to throw a 'monkey wrench 'in their plans. How the heck, he got hemmed up with the dope scam makes you wonder ..are you really that narcissistic ? what country do you live in?? Braulio is a one ugly Vampire, he looks like a wolf !!
Cespedes should be going through withdraw by now, if he was still using dope, that slur and slow affect /drag ...it could be from longterm herion/montega abuse?!?

LA DONA JAN 17TH
Regina is pathetic and I am SICK OF HER OUTFITS, why in the name of goodness, are we seeing her in the same 3 dresses!!?!? Ok, she is the good girl, then she is doomed!!
She better get -it together and show some backbone!! Get out of those peter- pan collars/neo 1950's style, Neo- revisited Dior/Chanel and get something to wear!! But don't she live with her sister?? Make a drive -by on that super California - closet/ plane hangar, baby sis! Get in there and get some clothes!!
While you’re at it!! Why not ask Auntie Yessenia to refit the ritual room [whatever-television version of African divination: ODU -IFA ...I notice the cowry shells, no real relation to 'ILE IFE’ traditional African religions, But telemundo/ Hollywood stylized witchcraft]-divination room and get some...’ WORK' [like my granny would say]...done on her sister! Aren’t a couple of those alters: ancestor /spirits related to Regina’s! Aren’t those channels connected to her parents as well!!
Yessenia is the only one will the ability to block the energy Root Work' [like they say down in South Carolina ], or discern the types of elemental processes AG uses to control energy [Roots-work] I got my Mojo working but it just don’t work on you baby !!!! Yabo-Ase’!!
Rafael/Leticia, he is the most dangerous monkey-man here! He is a wild card, and Leticia is an ego maniac/ she's nuts!!...Emiliano is sociopath in training. I love his de-evolution /wiped his ass [so to speak] with a $100 dollar bill /Facebook/snapchat!! Dude hit that doobie and don't Bogart that joint, light it up and set the internet and your parents' career on fire as well!! And drag your lover Isabel to hell with you!

Gambino is a psychopath as just got paid, he has a great future ahead of him and poor Monica, hasn't a chance of fighting him, Lydia had street smarts and could play it safe Monica has no game skills!

La Doña

Halimacandy, I could be mistaken (it's been known to happen :-) ), but I'm under the impression that Céspedes did drugs when he was young, but not now. I doubt that he could have been successful in a military career if he was strung out on drugs.

LA DONNA REFLECTION: JAN 18TH

Ok, so Monica is working for AG, ok the move off the street is a good move????

Queen put Check in check... ok! My girl got ahead of herself!! The cancelled check, an awesome ultimate DOPE FIEND MOVE' but I am, still ....team Yessenia.
What good is Felipe, he still ain’t pulled Regina!! Come on dude- get her drunk!! That girl needs to have a serious foot massage... she blamed AG for chasing her baby daddy away!?? When the last time she had some loving, she is way overdue!!
Who is the STUD? Saul is all over la Donna, but they have very little chemistry, she seems bored, [on the real tip! that young dude would hit it, if he could in real life he is really drooling!! He has stamina but no real technique, ever heard of ‘G’ spot send him a copy of KAMA SUTRA quick!!

Felipe has stud ability, I would like to see him work on Regina and lay down some pipes!! They would be sexy, because she is way past due for some action!
Braulio makes my skin crawl, Leo-- and the Valeria? The judge and that idiot is a silly joke/ but I quess he is her speed !! the spycho wife is interesting, a loose cannon. That woman ,Valeria is a coward, she knows Braulio is beating her son, but keeps a front going, she is really sick! That boy is due for a melt down!!

Saul is another idiot, he can't strategize out of a paperbag. He is running against killers, people with no scruples.
SAUL’S Dad, Aguirre is a real man, he stood up to AG, and ran it down to her that she was a user and manipulator, and he blew her murderous intentions in front of the office, that’s a warrior, even AG has respect for him. Saul couldn’t even take side!! He is so ‘P***y-whipped, he can’t risk antagonizing Dona. Where is his dignity and self-respect?? She’s got his NOSE- WIDE -OPEN!!

Monica is living a charmed life so far.Lazaro and Felipe and Yessenia are trying to get some mahjong barriers in place to protect them from AG north wind!! Felipe still, has maid service!! I guess a birdcage life is better than jail.
The doctor, I like him, please! Don’t let his dad be a "monkey-man!! Please don’t badmouth the doctor’s, it’s like a psycho case of casa cerrado!! Saul’s dad got it going on, I like his momma too, and she was PRISONERA'S sister!! Old school telenovela!!

LA DONA JAN 18TH
Ximena is back and didn’t all Hell- break- loose!! Didn’t the s**t hit the fan when Dad/Aguirre and poor stupid trusting mom, found out about Saul and AG!!Ximena needs to tell dude the truth, this is 2017for goodness sake, so what!! But Saul is bewitched for sure!! Every time he tries to confront issues/Dona he gets a hard-on!! Just saying!!
Ximena is a player now, but she has enough instinct to see him is a gonner, ahe realizes that everybody’s life is in danger! He admits to dad about Dona and dad is disgusted! Let me count the ways:
This women tried to KILL YOUR PARENTS:
Frame –up, false imprisonment, police abuse / brutality, assault of the building complex, attempted murder by cop, Eminent Domain and loss of property by state force and corporate greed and corruption, trumped up charges against supporter, people MIA,/dead…it’s all in the past like your self-respect!! I never thought mom ,Azuca would never get in this, but sweet codependent, mom had to jump in this and ‘READ HIM....’ That is remind him that he took a bullet for that heifer. That blew Ximena’s mind,I’m done! that’s a wrap. Everybody was done, when he had the nerve to tell them to back off it’s his life!

Saul is too stupid to carry this off, he needs to get kidnapped and tortured for a while because he hasn't a clue!![Somebody close his mouth/ slack –jaw, really-!?All the time?] Even AG is bored with him. Can we get another lover!!! A real man...even for a minute/ a one night stand so we can see some action!!! Not those staged bedroom scene where her hair stays in place! The women has a ROCKIN BOOTY/ a BANGING-BODY! More bounce to the ounce... Let’s get mussed- up some!! Where’s the heat!!

The Adam’s FAMILY DINNER PARTY, it was all good, until auntie made the scene, then it got POPPYN’!! Yessenia made a chess move and Queen dona, took the offensive, BUT black queen,Auntie played her strength and blew away the dinner mints by announcing her identity. She has insurance, I hope so!
Good play, this revelation in the long run, may have saved her life.
Diego was guilty and Isabel is a b*t** in heat, Compromisa to Diego, since when? What kind of teenagers are you!! AG, you are pimping out your niece?! the other teenager are hot –in –the –butt, so a baby should be arriving soon, I haven’t seen a condom yet!!

Monica saw the revelation but really doesn’t have an excuse to comment on the dona life? but she is beginning to put 2+2.

The monkey men are in confab about revenge, I guess they aren’t just stupid maniac ,they have survival instinct and cunning!
Just reflecting- this how is moving along at a quick clip!! They are bum rushing this series! Why??
They could expand some story lines and give us background on the characters. Too –much- like- right, I guess!! Gee –wiz, Cause we got to see another, god- awful-three years of god-awful, Mexican nacro -capo /drug lords series and that a bad move in this climate!

La Dona Jan 19th
Poor Lydia, I hope she makes it out alive, is it invalid time? It may save her life?
Saul ask Leo- the- Horney clerk, to check on court assignment.
Regina is scared and Yessenia told her, the cover is blown w/Monica. Deal with it, the game is still on!
Saul confront the judge, for what, “conflict of interest “…is joke in that world! He talks too much, he always shows his hand.
Dona was breaking Monica in on the new job, when Ximena strolls in, Dona and her circle around each other like wet hens over a cock, but Dona has the cut because she can say ...”I got this man wrapped around my finger’[ tongue],he is hitting it [ heavy]..And I am getting it...whenever I snap my finger [or bra strap].

Daniel is a monkey, but he didn’t kill Dona but he did save her life, that mean Raphael is a cutthroat and sexual sadist. The girl that escaped was Regina the milquetoast, obligated and beat down by life. Daniel knows something?! They are worried about Alejendro.
Women hater /Alejandro is starting to figure it out.
Regina loves Monica already, but Isabel is ready to pull rank and boss her cousin around. That’s what servants are for. Monica is clumping around on customized floors in heels asking for time off and putting a target on her back.

Psycho –cop is lurking, the doctor is great hugger, but he may be dead meat soon, Monica has no game and no clue about abusers!! [You pay a gang banger to bust his kneecaps at a discount rate/ sandwich coupons]
Monica is starting to see the light there are real men in this world. Sweet kiss!! Doctor knows the danger of getting cops involve.

Doctor please don’t be monkey Francisco’s son, please don’t!!

Ximena and dad have the right idea leave Saul out of a lawsuit, he is unreliable

The journalist dug up some dirt but enough?

Wow HALIMACANDY! That was fabulous. You are a rock star of a recapper! I love how you don't mince words. I also hate Regina's wardrobe. My guess is they are trying to make her kind of pathetic with those terrible dresses. You just wait until she turns around, it will be total makeover time (I'm guessing). "Monica has no game skills!" but somehow, she's managed to stay one step ahead, so far. It looks as though she's starting to put 2+2 together. We'll see. I find it hard to believe that Braulio's son could have turned out so gentle and understanding. I'm still waiting for his haircut to change, when he gets some cojones and stops hiding behind those combed oner bangs.

And, I hadn't even thought about the possibility that our good doctor could be the son of a Monkee!!!

My favorite phase in your whole thing was "...blew away the dinner mints..."(actually, I think she did that big reveal on purpose to get AG off the scent). But that captured the whole pathetic fancy dinner scene getting trashed by an unwelcome visitor.

Do you really think they are rushing this series? I would have thought they would give an Aracely Arambula vehicle a lot more precedence.

LA DONA:

Halimacandy- Love all your comments. Yes, this show moves at a fast pace and I'm enjoying that.

Saul is going to feel like such a fool when he comes out of his hormonal fog and realizes how AG manipulated and lied to him. I guess he's no different than those women whose friends ALL tell her that her boyfriend is no good, yet she sticks by him, until he cheats on her and/or beats her black and blue. He's just going to have to learn the hard way.

LA DONA:

I liked Diego's talk with Valeria, where he told her how he USED to respect her and thought she was a hero because she was a judge, until he realized she was bought off and always let the bad guys go free. Let's see if it shames her into making the right decision in the Lydia case. It's time for her to set an example for her son of someone who can be just and brave. I so hate that she not only allows her son to see her be an abuse victim, she also lets her husband abuse him. How can she expect him to grow up to be a good, strong man growing up in that environment? She's not some poor, uneducated woman, with no resources. If she wanted to, she could take Braulio on.

La Doña: Vivi: I so agree: "If she wanted to, she could take Braulio on." And I'm betting she will. But also bet she'll be sporting a black eye & more before she comes around to it. I HATE this violence, but it's a fact of life and it's the basis for the entire plot. Without getting moralistic, I'm hoping they show us vindication without the kind of horrible revenge exacted by the psychotic Altagracia.

La Fan

Hey, everyone! I haven't been watching any of the new novelas lately. Mostly reruns. I was not planning on watching this one, but I checked it out and have been left hooked.

I am loving the cast especially Angelica Vale and Juan Pablo Espinosa as our leading couple. I also like Scarlet Ortiz. Jonathan Islas I am not a fan of, but I'm liking him here.

La Doña

Great comments, Halimacandy! I esp. loved your remark re Saúl: "it’s all in the past like your self-respect!" and also your take on the supposed sex scenes between AG and Saúl as being "staged bedroom scene where her hair stays in place!" Yes!

I'm not sure why you raise the possibility that the doctor is the son of Francisco or one of the other Monkeys. I don't think anything points in that direction. Moreover, I'm under the impression that, except for Regina, the Monkeys always killed their victims after raping them. If that's the case, then none of the victims could have later given birth.

I don't have the feeling that Telemundo is rushing the series. I think that in general, Telemundo novelas are more fast-paced than those on Univisión (Silvana was an obvious exception, alas). For me, the faster pace is a plus.

La Doña

In my last comment, when talking about the Monkeys always killing their victims after raping them, I should have said "except for AG" rather than "except for Regina." They didn't rape or kill Regina.

LA DONA:

Juanita: It's possible that Francisco is the young doctor's father.

LA DONA:

Since we know nothing about Francisco or about the young doc's family, we can make up any theory we want about them, but nothing is pointing to a connection between them. And if so, it doesn't matter. Is anything more complicated/icky than the eventual hookup between Monica and the man her MOTHER is currently sexing, Saul? The only thing that would top that is if Emiliano suddenly developed a crush on Monica, since we have been given clues that they could be siblings.

LA DONA:

Notice that all the women in AG's family are being paired up with her cast-off men? Yesenia with Lazaro, Regina with Felipe, Monica with Saul (eventually). Let's just hope she doesn't have a really young lover out there that hooks up with Isabela.

LA DONA:

Vivi: Saul's stupidity keeps putting his family & friends in danger since AG & her cronies are likely to go after them again.

I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of his parents get killed in the process.

LA DONA..Ya'll are the BEST!!
Juanita/ ViVI , LXV, you set it off with your write ups!!

I am a mere trainee in your illustrious shadows.

I gotta give[deadly old-ladies style comments[ in old school, gospel-gangster mode ].
My comment channel from my aunts, momma and granny , whose words of wisdom are in my head, and they 're southern hard-core. they pull no punches.
I can't recap..cause, I don't have the patience, but I have to reflect on the madness.
Please for the love of goodness don't Let Monica be dating her brother [1/2]!!

The theory of la dona leftovers, god that tickled the heck out of me, too true!!

Steve , you are making me nervous, yes ,yes..its building up to some murderous reprisal, Braulio is a sociopath. Saul dad and mom? please no!! kill Saul instead, he makes me sick!!!

I am in Philly so we see ladona until 9pm,so I binge a lot.
thank you for this site !! it helps to keep me sane these days!!

My prayers are for the DREAM DEFENDERS , in the announcement
thank you for the notice for your young person and their family .

Halimacandy: Saul reminds me of Omar Guerrero on "Yago": very incompetent person, who's addicted to a vindictive, evil woman.

Why can't Saul realize that AG has tried to whack his parents, friends, etc., ?

I got to give Daddy Aguirre credit: very brave in standing up to AG like that, but that's going to bring the crazy evilness in AG & her cronies ratcheting up the bloodbath.

Ximena: This girl should've stayed in Spain! But no Mama Aguirre begged her to come back to the DF. Now Ximena may have signed her death warrant coming back to Mexico.
