LA DONA:

Who is Monica's bio dad ?

A.) Rafael Cabral

B.) Daniel Llamas

C.) Colonel Alejandro Cespedes

D.) Francisco the Wild-Card

la dona
These is very hard,
I vote for WILD CARD: Francisco!!?? with dibs on him being the Doctor's dad as well.
Why are you messing with our minds?

Monica has to date somebody, however when the doctor kissed her and she act like she was gonna jump two feet in the air! for want!! So peeping tom Saul won't think she is not a virgin!!

These novellas are /can often be backwards[sexist] in relation to women/female sexual expression

- abortion is taboo, but not gang rape/train gang?!?
-sexual sadism and spousal rape is ok for presentation.
-But not good girls independently/on their own volition ,making the first move ,showing passion/desire ??

Come on writers:let's get with it , we have seen child sexual traffic [ sin suenos],
but not female self-gratification, unless its for a male glaze or male approval.

This is why I kind like la dona, cause she goes for it. when she wants a man she jumps on it and rides into the sunset! She gets hers!!

I miss my soap/Ms Eva [la trailer, she would fight/ throw down], I hope Monica is a scraper ,Yessenia can show her how to take a beat down, so Monica grab some vaseline ,tuck your earring ,stash a razor and sharpen your claws, cause your big mouth is always running/ popping -off!!

so what you going to do about it?
Monica , you want to know what? if they talk /tell you anything.

But maybe she is ready, she is responsible and conscientious, and she is in the devil den with no arms.
OK I just talked myself into joining team Monica,

ok,

La Dona

I love the show, and I can't help but smile every time Monica is on the screen. She reminds me of a very young Mariah Carey.
Does the actress who plays Monica also sing?

LA DONA:

GoBlueFan- Yes, she also sings. :)

La Doña 40

Saul nailed Emiliano's trial, the only thing lacking was the videos Isabela uploaded of them drinking and driving fast, and he made all the connections, Valeria's husband was defending Emi, their son Diego, the other witness, who was suspiciously absent, Rafael and Leticia were his parents, oh and Leticia spit out one more, Yesenia is AG's aunt, what?

no doubt that everyone now has Gabino figured.

Monica tells the bad guys exactly what she thinks, whoa, and is backed by Diego (who has his AG card or he would be dead)

Valeria read the innocent findings with a straight face, while Lopez's head twisted around.

on the other side of town Lydia has figured out it was Diego who coaxed her out of the netherlands, he brings her chocolates, but leaves after hearing the verdict.

Matamoros, on La Dona's orders, sucks the Colonel's trusted guys into her plan.

Felipe swings by the mansion to sweet talk Regina (I like how she dresses, the girl next door look, how would she ever compete with AG) kisses her, and the alarm bells go off in Isabela's tiny head, who sneaks away.

Ximena and Jaime's law suit arrives by carrier to AG, (I know Jaime is an honorable man, but he keeps flipping the self-destruct switch) AG swears to Regina she won't hurt Saul or any of his family (who is she kidding besides Regina) drops by to see the old man.

oh and Saul corners Monica who can't praise him enough, he cares for her but is upset that she keeps blowing him off, what do you feel for me...

(as if Saul has a clue when it comes to amor)

La Doña 40

"backed by 'SAUL', (who has his AG card in his back pocket or he would be dead)"

La Doña: Thanks deb. you nailed all the salient points. That Matamoros is such a drone; I was impressed that he expressed a query that earned him an AG slap down. So there is a personality behind that stone face. How much abuse has he taken? How much more will he take. I guess AG's going to try to get the rest of the names out of victim #2 before she does him in. He's at least a little smarter than the first one. The others ought to be making escape plans by now. Well, except for the wild card who isn't in on the drama, yet.

Is Saúl starting to get a clue about Moni? He's pretty dense, but it comes with the galán territory, I suppose. And the plausibility of the gran amor between him and AG is strained beyond belief by now. This guy is supposed to be a sharp lawyer! And she's supposed to be the invincible ice queen. But I'm along for the ride, so I'll suspend my disbelief.

That Lydia is one tough cookie, she looks ready for discharge. Looking forward to the interaction with Diego.

LA DONA:

Thanks, Deb! I was glad that they moved the whole trial along in one episode. Saul gave it a good fight. Loved that he got a recording of the first call Gabino made after the accident, and then Dr. Alvaro finished tearing his credibility to bits. But, Valeria was not in a mood for a beating when she got home, so "not guilty" it is for little Emi.

Again, Monica and Rafael confront each other about how she was brought up/lives, and how he raises his spoiled kid. Just more fuel for when they eventually find out they're father and daughter.

LXV- I have a feeling this interaction between Diego and Lydia will be the last nice one for a while. I'm betting when the others get to the hospital, they'll tell her that her mystery guy is the son of the corrupt judge and lawyer, BFF with the guy who ran her over, and kept far away from the trial so that he wouldn't have to testify to the truth. I don't think any amount of chocolates could smooth that over quickly.

Monica and Rafael are daughter and father? Is this a spoiler?

LA DONA:

Not a spoiler because this show hasn't been shown anywhere else yet, nor is this storyline in Dona Barbara. The writers have been hinting at this heavily, and I don't think it's a red herring.

LA DONA:

Ah Valeria, I was rooting for her to come to her senses but I guess the 40th episode is a little too soon.
And dang at the Rafael and Monica connection, I couldnt understand the detail of their conversation but from context I figure it would be about parenting but now it all make sense.

I still havent made up my mind about Felipe. I confessed I skipped a lot of his scene and the only one I could remember was when he tried to force himself of AG. How was he as a husband to AG?

LA DONA:

Tatiana- In the very beginning, Felipe was shown to be a good husband to AG. Then he VERY quickly turned into this desperate, whiney person-- driven mad by the drugs AG was giving him (to make him impotent or knock him out), the alcohol he started to consume regularly, and his unrequited lust/love for AG. He got very dark, and when he tried to rape AG, I was done with him. But he seems to have found his balance again, now that he's away from her. I'm not sure what I think of him, but he is a better person when he's not near AG, and he really seems to care for Regina.

LA DONA:

Tatiana: I liked where Monica told the Monkeys 2.0 off. But she's painting a bigger target on her back.

Vivi: Daddy Aguirre & Ximena joining forces in filing the lawsuit against AG is very dangerous considering both are signing their death warrants.

La Doña

Thanks very much, deb, for the helpful recap. We had a storm here in my neighborhood yesterday that knocked out power for a number of hours. It came back in time for the novela, but there were no captions (though all the other channels had them). My guess is that just the local Telemundo station was affected. I'm hoping the captions will be back on tonight, when I'm set to do a recap. Anyway, I needed and enjoyed your recap, esp. your parenthetical remarks such as "(I know Jaime is an honorable man, but he keeps flipping the self-destruct switch)" and "AG swears to Regina she won't hurt Saul or any of his family (who is she kidding besides Regina)."

Vivi, I think you're probably right about Rafael being Mónica's biological father. The thought occurred to me some time ago when Mónica and Rafael first exchanged nasty remarks (in front of La Doña's office building, I think), but then I forgot about it until you mentioned the possibility now. It would make more sense, plotwise.

Tatiana, I too was hoping that Valeria would do the right thing, but yes, episode 40 is probably too soon. And as Vivi said, Valeria wasn't eager for a beating from Braulio when she got home, so....

La Fan. I loved how Vale talked El Quique (the narco/mafioso) out of harming Lucas. Nice combination of flattery and logic! I also loved how she ran through the list of characteristics of her astrological sign and Lucas's--hilarious! She was wonderfully sympathetic to Rodrigo, Salma's son--which made Salma hate her all the more. The actress playing Vale has incredibly expressive eyes--when she was in a van and glanced sideways at the person next to her (I don't remember if it was Lucas, El Quique or Gabriel) you could tell exactly what she was thinking. Excellent acting! Gabriel has now met Tomás, and Diego has shown himself to me a million times better than either the odious Oscar or Benicio by quitting when Adriana tries to offer him a bribe to keep his mouth shut (about the accident? I don't remember). He is more than worthy of her. And more hilarious scenes about the effects of social media. The beauty shop fight was a bit over the top and not worthy of this otherwise sympathetic novela.

La Doña: It could be Rafael, and I'm sure that's what they want us to think at this juncture, but we have a ways to go yet. Disclaimer, Ive never seen any earlier versions, nor read the book. So any speculation you hear from me is strictly that. I am positively clueless.

Vivi: I have a hunch Lucky Lidia will get tough and reject Diego when she learns who he is. And then, he will have to win her over. It seems like sweet redemption for him if he can just do the right thing.

LA DONA JAN23RD

Stop tripping!
RAFAEL is NOT HER DAD! Trust me!? Why all the pretty ,rich nice doctor buildup. Doctor’s son [genetic attraction= euphemism. for incest]

VIVI: yes ! she has that lovely ‘mango /sepia/ autum- leaf gold ’ coloring, and they lighten monica’s hair, I love her ,Monica is a lovely doll baby, but if she had the soul –sister’s pipe!! OMG!

DEB; trial was kangaroo court, judge Valeria is the definition of compromised.
Lydia is my girl, but from death door to strolling out of hospital that Diego has some powerful JUJU/LOVE POWER! They are going to be the cutest!

However Lydia is not the type of chick that takes betrayal.

Diego I don’t know how bad you got it, but love requires standing up and being a man [start by beating the bejesus out of your dad], why Diego and his mom don’t pay some coke head-$50.bucks can get Braulio kneecaps done?? Hard to be a killer as a cripple /handicap for life. Don’t you have life insurance?

All the herbalist around, why they haven’t hook up some mild [ f**k you-up] tea and poison Braulio is beyond me.

DANG, just ask Yessenia to hook them up with some ‘dope’-DOPE, why haven’t they ’ROOTED’ his ass, I love to see the herbal combination that would have him squawking like chicken.

Felipe is my man!! I can’t wait to see Regina laid out with NO CLOTHES, anything is better than those 1960 shifts ! He has become a true human being since he hasn't doped up!

Jaime A., now! That’s my man! He is a true warrior, not like that puddy- whipped son of his!
AG, has his D**k [and his mind,] in her back pocket[book] just saying?!!
Daddy Aguirre, Please don’t get killed! Please lord, Take Saul instead!

LA FAN

Span Prof, I agree with you in all you said. Angélica Vale who plays Vale is an excellent actress.. She did "La fea más bella"ten years ago which showed she was just as wonderful a dramatic actress as she was a comic one. She won an award for that role. She reminds me a lot of Lucille Ball. This is her only other novela since that time.

LA FAN.

#5 Monday 1/23

Some plot points:

Adriana's ex wants to get back together with her. He even tries to enlist like her mother for help. Adriana is not interested. She has the hots for smooth talking Diego

Salma holds a press conference: she and Lucas are getting married.

Lucas apologizes to Vale for the kiss.

Gabriel and Adriana's mom had something going on in the past.

Quique (Roxie's husband) is intent on chasing Lucas with the intention of killing him until Vale is able to broker a piece agreement with by appealing to his vanity, desire to be a ranchero singer and by telling her own story of being the "fan" and taking responsibility for the whole mess. Quique agrees not to hurt Lucas. He was just upset that since Lucas dumped Roxie he was now stuck with not just a cheating wife but also a drpressed one. He now has his sights set on becoming a singer.

A picuture of Lucas kissing Vale hits social media. Fans start voting on who they would prefer Lucas to end up with. They prefer Vale. Gabriel tells a dismayed Lucas that this preference and affection for Vale by the fans isn't going to end anytime soon.

Salma's son shows Salma the photo. Salma wants Lucas to set the fans straight that she Salma is his one and only.

Vale finds a sad looking boy (Salma's son) in the hall at work, to console him and gives him a hug. Salma catches them and warns Vale to stay away from her son and boyfriend.

Gabriel wheedles his way into Vale's personal life and she introduces Tomás to him.

LA DONA:

Juanita: I can see your point on Valeria not wanting to get violently beaten again by Braulio, so she let Emiliano off the hook..

Halimacandy: Regina being naked wouldn't surprise me considering she's stuffy in those clothes all of the time LOL.

Vivi: Daddy Aguirre is a BRAVE MAN standing up to AG & her cronies like that. However, the target is getting bigger on Saul's family & friends.

Don't get me started on Lopez either because he's in danger as well considering that he's been helping Saul with investigating the Monkeys, etc.,

LA DONA:

I'm betting Francisco could be Monica's bio dad. For all we know Maury Povich might have the results already LOL.

LA FAN

Whoopsie: PEACE agreement.

La Fan

The scenes with Diego in the middle of Adriana and Oscar fighting were pretty funny. I still don't really understand why Adriana gave Diego a recompensa. He thought it was so he would stay quiet (about Oscar and her mom?) and she just said it was an act of solidaria? Loved how we got two scenes with shirtless Diego. LOL And Adriana's mom looking him up and down in the elevator. At least her mother knows that Oscar wants something else besides just getting Adriana back.

Love that the maid knows everything that's going on in the house. She had seen Felicitas and Gabriel on the couch, not that Felicitas was really trying to hide her affairs anyway.

Jessica gets fired from the salon and it appears that Miguel likes her, which Miriam is not happy about.

J, the maid could be a real power player with all she knows. LOL

LA DONA:

Jarifa: Are you referring to the maid working for AG ?

LA FAN

Steve, I was referring to LA FAN. Sorry, I left off show name.

LA DONA EPISODE #39
This was one ACTION PACKED BUT messed up episode!! I almost threw something at the TV, I got so pi**ed off!

Saul is looking at photos of Ximena and big bad momma stroll by and ask him what’s up with the photo Saul [puddy-whipped]...”we’re through -until I can get my pants off”…. Then bang –bang –bang! Suck, slurp, smooch,a little swooped downtown. Swing it left, swing it to the back, hit to the front. Quicker to the bed than old school soft porno??

But isn’t that the same acoustics guitar I heard at my spa/yoga class?
Dang! Saul is running his mouth, pillow talk works for Mata Hari, who knows and listens to all the subtext and revamps her moves.

Then in the glow of after-coochie/ and musk Gorgio RED, [feeling good, so let’s put the knife in] decides to drop the bomb about Ximena and the procedure.

Dona, with what moral standing do you have to reveal anything ? / who The hell are you to be leading the way to the confessional [bless- me father for I have sinned. It’s been 49 years since that funky broads’ last confession] about Ximena abortion!

Really, cause la Dona can’t stand the death of innocent people [how many D&C‘s do you think this ‘HO’ must have had in her lifetime] and how many kids you going to give Saul????

Really which isn’t nobody business, and so the ‘f***’! What its 2017?? And Saul really?! Who the hell is Dona to say anything, idiot! No- you’re special ed.!!

Does the smell of her coochie have you hypnotized!! Maybe having a baby would have killed Ximena, maybe it was deformed anything, miscarried and then nothing.
And then, he laid back into the cut..!! I am done, done done!!

Dad and mom knows Saul is an idiot, lawsuit, as a strategy, mom understand that Saul is capricious.

Then this moron comes home smelling like FISH and jumps bad with Ximena!

Ximena , you Do not need an excuse, it’s your body woman!!! Don’t beg him!! Hell no!! He is such a feminist! Bullsh*t!! Wasn’t no ring on it!!

Saul are you ready to be judged because pay back is a bone fide b****!!

This from a man who just pulled his traction out of the skankiest ho /biggest witch in town, Ximena please!!

They have ran a serious con game on the women in that space. Ximena /girl pull back and step up your game, damn it! you’re the victim here, ‘f***’ him and tell kiss* your**!! Flip that script,.." so your ‘b**** crawled out of her funk long enough to talk about my what??

Back at the hospital, Lydia,it’s a miracle!! Monica has confab with my girl.monica. Yessenia tries but ,hard head –soft behind Monica half assed, listen to the warning. And why don’t this girl, believe, accept that her dad should live his life, back off out of grown folks business.

What’s with the threat, Ms. Thing, you going to need everybody and then some at the end of this war?

Monica has troubles ,So in the end the need for cash and a job trumps sanity.

Lazaro and Felipe, there is strength here, together they got skills and information

Braulio still running the ‘long- con ‘down on cepesdes, the line about government politics rings true, smooth move.

never the less , Chess moves are happening ,cepedes must have good contacts cause he is ready to risk a lot , drug traffic is no joke, unless he has an in!!

But Braulio makes good points ‘where your boys been at, all this time?? crickets!!But this man is a true misogynist, he will not trust her ever. He just blames her straight up!!

This is getting to him because the corners of his mouth look like they are going to hit the floor, he must have used montega /heroin for decades! Wipe the drool, yuck!

La Doña

I just want to confirm that I'll be doing my usual Tuesday recap of tonight's episode. And as usual, I'll probably post it sometime tomorrow morning.

La Donna episode #40 Tuesday

In the court waiting for justice?!? Judge married to defending lawyer!! WTF is this BS!
Yessenia: THEY’RE ALL CRIMINAL!! The accusation of duplicity/ complicity/collusion is ground for mistrial??
The court scene, trust Saul are you nuts!! Lydia !! No!!Please help Lydia, going to testify for what? A waste of life!!

The thug –life, personal bodyguard, had meeting and was assigned, move to kill the character profile of the colonial.
Lydia, has lost hope, she is a real survivor, and she has very sensitive skin, if she remembers the feather and the sensations!!
Gabion is a killer cop! The doctor’s testimony will be on record, so?? Then the fix went in….Yessenia recognized the CABAL at the dinner show!
Then Saul called Diego to the bench OMG!! Shades of Perry mason!!
Felipe and Regina, I like them so much…hug me -poppi chulo, I need it !!!!
Isabel freaking, f*** that DISABLED girl. We almost killed, my mom is a person!
Emiliano can go to – hell, my mom can’t have a life!! Not with my ex-uncle!!
I HOPE, LA DONA, MEANS IT WHEN SHE SAYS SHE CAN’T HURT Jaime or his dad?!???
Colonel: you lost your backups?!! Or the kidnap is on.
Yessenia and Saul talked about the family secret, and he still is stupid [not a women like Alta Gracia!
Courting the court of injustice, shades of Dr. Phil. : Emiliano is going to crash and burn. They destroyed this child because he can’t live with the burden of guilt...

Big momma and Azucena and Jaime have a face off…..in the next room Saul is talking to Monica.
So Saul asked her how she feels about him, where is his attention span, women he loves , not available so out of sight out of mind ,love the one your with!
Monica, girl you can do better than your mom’s sloppy second!

LA FAN # 6 1/24

Another fun episode.

I have seen this plot before . . . . The long and the short: After sending Vale into an endless crying jag by making sure she knows that the "kiss" was just a way to hide and save his life, Lucas gives in to Gabriel's plan to keep his fans happy: pretend he is in love with Vale. Lucas does not want to deceive Vale. It Gabriel tells him Vale could not pull it off if she knew the truth. She is not an actress. Of course weak willed Lucas ageless to go along with the hare-brained idea and calls a press conference to announce the name of his new love to the world. Vale faints. He kisses her. He is clearly acting. It is over the top. They go to Tomás' soccer game. Salma is also there with her son.

Other stuff:

Uh oh: Vale tells Gabriel all about Tomás and Tomâs fills him in on the rest. Gabriel invites himself to supper. Gabriel will be back. He tells his private detective he needs to know if Tomás is his son.

Cute: Adriana visits Diego to get him to come back to work. She apologizes for seeming to want to buy his silence. She offers to take him out to dinner. He is interested but since he is THE MAN, he will take her out: it is burgers and pool. They start what will become a series of sports competitions. She wins at pool. The next competition will be soccer.

Same old: Jessica goes out with Miguel. Miriam is in disguise is spying on them. Miguel recognizes her and wants to know what is going on. Jessica asks him if he is gay. He pays the bill and leaves without answering the question. HA!

Very cute: Salma's son takes steps to make him mother a "good mother". She starts following his list of things that good mothers do: cooking, helping with home work, going to soccer games. She puts forth the effort and both mother and son are happier.

Life of the rich and over-sexed: Finally never missing a chance for "sex on the fly" so to speak, Adriana's mother Felicitas puts the moves on Diego in the elevator as he was leaving the company after having quit. She was a hoot looking him up and down and telling him she did not care if he no longer worked for the company.

That is all I got. : )

La Fan

Jarifa - Thank you for the summary!

I finally got caught up on the last few episodes yesterday and will watch last night's when I get home from work today.

Considering the extremely low expectations I had for it, La Fan has made me laugh out loud many times. (I'm easily amused-LOL) I love the zeitgeist aspect of this tongue-in-cheek telenovela, with the all the online social media voting, etc. and the acting is great.

The convo with Vale & Quique in his SUV cracked me up.
Diego's two shirtless scenes were a hoot.
Benicio deadpan saying STTE 'yes, I'm just the one to marry (Adriana) for her money & power'.

Salma always makes me think of Sally Field's "Celeste" in Soapdish.
Lucas is a real send-up of egotistical actors and is interpreted very well.
Vale and her position as Lucas' assistant sometimes reminds me of Betty La Fea. ('nuff said)
The owner/manager of the beauty salon made me think of Mimi on Drew Carey Show.
( that client in the salon that got into the catfight looked familiar)

I'm hoping this telenovela will keep up the good work.

Salma looks so much younger when she is in her telenovela character than when she is regular ole "Salma". Probably all her makeup, when she is off the job, makes her look older and harder?

La Fan

Since we cannot edit our posts, I want to also mention that Lucas' vanity and ego remind me of Rogelio in "Jane the Virgin." LOL

LA FAN

I sure agree with you about Salma's look and also about your "Betty la fea"/LFMB comment.

I thought I proof read my post thoroughly but it looks like the auto spell check got the best of me. . Ah, the pursuit of perfection is always thwarted. . . LOL

Jarifa - Auto-correct is our enema. (LOL)

LA FAN

Good one, doris!

La Doña (Capítulo 41) - Martes 1/3

Saúl asks Mónica what she feels for him. She hesitates, and he tells her not to be afraid. "I'm not afraid," she replies, "I'm embarrassed." He tells her to disconnect her brain and speak from her heart. "No," she says. "My brain has helped me, it reminds me of my values, my principles, and not to meddle in people's lives." She tells him that when she met him, he was with Ximena, and then La Doña, and...she's not going to meddle in his life, not now, not ever.

AG has come to see Jaime and Azucena. She tells them there's no need for a trial, they can settle things privately. What do they want? Compensation? Jaime reminds her that the last time, she accused him of extortion. He tells her that he doesn't want her money, he wants her to admit publically the harm that she has done to them. She tells him that she regrets what she did. Jaime's not buying her "regret." He asks her why she sent her killer to their neighborhood.

Jorge tells Yesenia and Lázaro that AG is in the neighborhood, he saw her car parked outside. Lázaro is immediately worried about Mónica. Where is she? Jorge says he thinks she went to see Lydia in the hospital. After Jorge leaves, a very upset Lázaro tells Yesenia that AG has come to look for him, and that if she sees him with Mónica, she'll know the truth. Yesenia assures him that if AG were looking for him, she'd be here, and that surely she has come to see Saúl. Lázaro says they have to contact Mónica and tell her not to come back right now. AG must not see her enter this apartment! Yesenia tries to call her, but there's no answer.

An embarrassed Mónica tells Saúl that right after Ximena left and he told Mónica that he was crazy about someone he had just met, someone who was strong, a fighter, courageous, she thought he was talking about her. "But I was wrong; you were talking about La Doña."

AG tells Jaime that her employee must have come to the neighborhood on his own, she didn't send him. Jaime doesn't believe her. "I know how you manage your people: no one moves a finger without your permission." AG tells him she's not accustomed to apologizing, but she asks forgiveness for all the harm she has caused them. She'd like to start over with them. She couldn't do them any harm because they are the parents of the man she loves.

Emiliano is upset that his parents are not permitting him to leave the house. He wants to celebrate the trial verdict with his friends. When he says he's referring to Diego and his fútbol friends, Rafael gives him permission. Leticia is furious with Rafael.

Mónica and Saúl are still talking about her feelings. She says that when Ximena left, she thought she could be somene in Saúl's life, but then she realized that it wasn't possible. She tried to deny what she felt, but she couldn't. Dumbbell Saúl asks her why she didn't tell him how she felt, he wouldn't have judged her [Gee, thanks a lot, Saúl]. She explained that AG was very good to her, and she felt very uncomfortable. Saúl asks whether AG knows what Mónica feels for him, and she says no. She says that she'd like to get far from AG, but she can't, because she needs the money to help Lydia and her father. Saúl starts to say that Mónica is a very beautiful woman, but she stops him. She doesn't want him to tell her that lots of men would be in love with her. And then she finally spells it out for him: Estoy enamorada de ti.

The scene shifts back to AG telling Saúl's parents that she's in love with their son. Jaime is still not buying what she says. He tells her that she's just using Saúl and then she'll get rid of him, as she's done with her ex-husband [make that plural, Jaime!].

La Doña (Cap 41) - Martes 2/3

Yesenia calls Margarita to ask whether Mónica is with her. No, says Margarita, she left with Saúl. Yesenia tells Lázaro that AG knows Mónica and Saúl are friends, the important thing is that AG not see Mónica with either of us.

Mónica and Saúl leave his apartment. She tells him that she's going to turn the page and forget this foolishness. Moreover, they should say goodbye to each other for a while, not just so she won't see him, but so she won't see AG. She has to give up her job with AG. As they're in the middle of this conversation, Ximena [hiss here] comes along and asks Mónica whether her job as maid (chacha) for AG includes making the bed in her lover's apartment. Ximena claims she knows perfectly well that La Doña is up there in his apartment.

Regina asks Isabela where she's going all dressed up. "I'm not going to tell you," Isabela replies. "You have your secrets and I have mine." She storms out. Regina runs after her and asks what secrets she's referring to. We see Isabela remember her mother kissing Felipe, but all she says to Regina is that Regina never told her she has an aunt. Isabela drives off.

Jaime tells AG that some time ago, he and Azucena lost their daughter because she paid attention to the wrong person, "a killer who beat her little by little without our realizing what was happening. I don't want the same thing to happen to Saúl because he falls for the wrong person. The next time we see you will be in court." AG leaves, and she immediately comes upon Saúl, Mónica, and Ximena. Saúl asks why she was at his parents' apartment. She tells him she was trying to reach an agreement with his father, who is suing her. Saúl is stunned, and asks Ximena whether she knew about this. AG informs him that Ximena not only knew, she is his father's lawyer and signed the documents. Mónica tries to leave but runs into Magdalena and Jorge. Magdalena immediately accuses AG of sending killers into the neighborhood. A crowd gathers. Jorge accuses AG of influencing the unjust outcome of Emiliano's trial. Saúl tells the crowd to be quiet and respect his woman.

The doctor (Adolfo) tells Lydia she's doing very well and should soon be able to leave the hospital. He comments that she has lots of friends who care about her, though he's surprised Mónica isn't here right now. Margarita tells him Mónica left with Saúl. Adolfo's face falls, and he remembers that he has other patients to see. After he leaves, Margarita asks Lydia whether she saw the look on Adolfo's face when he heard that Mónica left with Saúl. The two young women agree that the doctorcito is the ideal man for Mónica.

Yesenia sees that Mónica is unhappy and asks why. Mónica finally tells her that Saúl is the perfect man, but alas he's not for her. Yesenia advises her not to lower herself or beg, because those who do get only scraps (solo agarra migajas). And you're too beautiful and intelligent to settle for leftovers. Someone who makes you cry doesn't deserve your tears.

Emiliano is driving very fast. Isabela is with him and asks in alarm what he's doing. Doesn't he remember the last time.... Emiliano says he always wins, at sports, at trials, at carreras (races? careers?).

Saúl and AG are at her place. One thing leads predictably to another. FF>>

The next morning, Mónica sees that Yesenia has again slept on the couch. She asks why Yesenia isn't sleeping with Lázaro, and she asks whether Yesenia isn't in love with Lázaro.

Braulio arrives outside AG's house early in the morning and is told by Matamoros that she's still sleeping. Braulio is annoyed, since there's so much happening that day. Matamoros starts to leave, and Braulio warns him that no one is to know that he (Braulio) and AG are involved in this operation.

La Doña (Cap 41) - Martes 3/3

Céspedes is about to be transported to the military court.

Yesenia tells Mónica that of course she's in love with Lázaro. Why would she be with him otherwise? For pity, replies Mónica. Yesenia says she cares a lot for Lázaro. Mónica keeps asking questions. Lázaro hears much of the conversation through the door and finally announces his entrance.

Saúl and AG, now fully dressed, are kissing when in walks Braulio, unannounced. He and Saúl exchange words. Braulio tells him he's seen many men leave through those doors smiling ear to ear, and they have the same smile--in their coffins. AG asks how he dares to say that. He replies that she knows why he's here, and are they going to stop what they have pending or not?

Valeria comes to the office. Lopecito is waiting for her and speaks to her coldly. She asks why he's so cold. He berates her for the trial verdict: "I don't know who's more irresponsible, that 'junior' or you."

Saúl asks about what Braulio said, and AG lies. Saúl leaves, after kissing AG in front of Braulio. After Saúl leaves, Braulio says Saúl will ruin her. She slaps him.

Céspedes is en route to the court. His men in the car receive a call from Matamoros, who they think is the general (?), telling them to change the route. Another car starts to follow them. Céspedes, in the back seat, is uneasy.

Lopecito continues to berate Valeria. She tells him she had no choice. He tries to leave, but she stops him and says that the only thing she wants is to be with him. He replies that from now on, he's just going to do his work, not run errands for her, and not make love.

Gustavo tells Felipe that he can't find any proof of serious wrongdoing on AG's part. Felipe asks what if they could prove that AG was behind an assassination. (We see him think about the dead prostitute shot in his bed.)

AG continues to humiliate Braulio, telling him that she and Saúl made love all night long. When he says he won the trial, she reminds him that his wife was the judge, and tells him that Valeria called her during the meeting with the other judges to say that AG needed to give them money so they would vote in favor of Emiliano. He tells her that her supposed happiness with Saúl is false, that she won't be happy until she's had revenge on all the Monkeys.

The car carrying Monkey Céspedes stops. Men get out of the other car and shoot his men. Matamoros shoots the last one and then turns his gun on Céspedes, who demands, "Do you know who I am?" One of the men from the other car comes up behind Céspedes and knocks him unconscious. The men load him into the trunk of the car.

Ximena tells Azucena that she's been looking for work, but she seems to be on a black list. She suspects that AG has closed all the doors.

Jaime tells Saúl that almost none of the newspapers have covered Emiliano's trial. AG has made it disappear. He then shows Saúl clippings he and Ximena have found about other bad things AG has done. Jaime asks Saúl "Where are your principles?"

Rafael overhears Mónica tell one of AG's other employees that she's going to give up her job. Rafael berates her for giving up a job AG so graciously gave her. Rafael tells her she's not resigning, he's firing her. He then calls security to come remove a delinquent who is invading AG's offices.

AG is in the basement of her house outside the city. Céspedes is there, tied up. He asks Braulio, "What am I doing here?" AG asks "Are you frightened, Alejandro, or should I say Monkey?" She tells him he's the second one she knows. She says, "I know who you are, but now you're going to know who I am. Welcome to Hell."

La Fan. Excellent succinct recap, Jarifa! I love how Rodrigo is training Salma to be a better mother. It's quite touching--and I wonder if it will last. Gabriel's scheme to improve ratings by having Lucas "court" Vale is downright cruel. When Lucas had told Vale that the kiss was just for his own protection--to hide from the thugs--it was hard on her, but it was the right thing to do. Shallow though he is, he does feel guilty about now leading her on to improve ratings. Gabriel--along with Oscar and Benicio--certainly doesn't deserve a happy ending.

LA DONA:

Juanita- Spectacular recap! I could not believe how dense/thoughtless/insensitive Saul was being as Monica revealed her feelings for him. Kudos to her for her honesty and maturity. At the end of the day, it is better that she not work for AG, but I worry what she’ll do now for money. Yet another Rafael-Monica confrontation.

Jaime is either brave or crazy, but he was right on target about how AG uses and abuses men, and within his rights as a dad to want to protect his son. But he’s got to know that he might now make it out alive from this confrontation with AG. He asked where Saul’s dignity is. In his pants, Jaime. That’s where it is.

And while I disapprove of practically everything else she does, I’m perfectly ok with AG taking out the Monkey’s one by one and can’t wait to see how Cespedes reacts when he learns just who she is and why she’s determined to destroy him.

LA DONA: Typo-- Might NOT make it out alive...

LA FAN:

I've started watching this and agree that it's fun and cute and moves at a great pace. I won't be able to stay current with it though. It will be weekend viewing.

La Doña

Thanks very much, Vivi. I too was astonished at Saúl's apparent insensitivity to Mónica's feelings. I don't know whether the problem is the script or the actor, but he just doesn't do it for me.

As for Jaime, I don't think it's either/or: he's both very brave and quite loco.

And I too am OK with AG's revenge on the Monkeys, though not if it includes Daniel, who both saved her life and has spent much of the time since then helping abused women. I don't mean to minimize rape, but I don't see Daniel as deserving the kind of "justice" AG is doling out.

I might mention that I too am watching La Fan. It's not the hopeless piece of dreck that the previews made me expect. I'm enjoying it, for the most part, though at times it descends to the level of the Three Stooges at their worst in Silvana. If I could watch only one novela, I'd again choose La Doña, but I enjoy the balance between the two.

La Doña

wonderful recap Juanita!

so much detail, I think you covered everything, and so well.

Lydia's trial was such a farce, an appeal would easily show the obvious, but will they go there.

I had a little confusion with the Colonel's kidnap, he was approached by Braulio at one time about escaping but I don't think he was in on this, and I'm guessing the 2 guys up front were the guys Matamoros paid off thinking they were part of an escape plan, hmm, a single pistol shot killed each, they might go with a different combat vest next time.

it's morning, so maybe Isabela survived another night of racing around with madman Emiliano, they always leave us hanging.

too bad the Colonel didn't make the connection between AG and Rafael, or did he, and what will Rafael make of his disappearance, it seemed to hit home when the Colonel suggested a conspiracy and that they would come after Rafael's family as well, and what will AG do when she finds out the truth, she seemed to know the others faces, I wonder if she has ever suspected Rafael.

LA DOÑA

Juanita! Thank you for the "detailed/thoughtfu/brilliant" (to steal from Vivi's comment) recap! It read like a novel. I appreciate the work and care that went into your writing!

That Saúl, what MORON! What do all the girls see in him? I am pretty enthusiastic about the casting in this novela, with ONE exception. I don't think David Aguirre is up to the role. But, to cut him some slack, they haven't given us a very plausible premise. It would take an actor with a lot more heat & magnetism to make us turn a blind eye to the obvious discrepancies. La Doña is a man-eating bombshell. She's is a large physical presence with considerable attributes, not the least of which is her face. Saul is just too much of a plain vanilla wimp for me to believe in. So I have to work at it. All the other characters seem pretty spot-on in their roles, with nice quirky attibutes.

Will Emiliano crash the car with Isabela in it? perhaps we'll get to see HER lying immobilized with a neck brace a little further on. Good details Juanita, I kind of didn't get the part about the doctorcito's face falling at the mention of Saül. Probably because I was so busy trying to read the captions below. The Spanish is tough-going for me this time around.

The apple does not fall far from the tree with Monica. She is really a mini-AG, (without the morbid venganza) in terms of feisty forthrightness & energy. I'm not ready to settle for Rafael being bio-dad. Maybe they'll give us a bit of a run of suspecting each of the Monkees in turn.

Span Prof, I so agree about those who do not deserve a happy ending. Thank you for using all of the characters names because it seems that I have missed several along the way. I will be adding those to my list.

La Doña

MANY thanks, deb and LXV, for your very kind remarks and great comments about the episode. deb, I too was quite confused about the plot involving Céspedes. At first, I was surprised that his trusted men (the two guys up front) thought that it was the general calling to change the route. But then I thought perhaps they were playing along as part of the plan. I'm still not completely sure. Did the Coronel's trusted men expect that there would be a car following them? Did they think that the people in the second car were part of the escape plan?

LXV, I agree that Saúl is a moron. A good-loking moron, especially with his shirt off, but a moron nonetheless. I love your description "plain vanilla wimp." But, as I said to Vivi, I'm not sure whether he's the problem or the script he was given. Can you think of any actor who would be more effective in that role, as it is written?

I enjoyed your description of AG as "a large physical presence with considerable attributes, not the least of which is her face." I confess that her face was not what came first to my mind. :-)

The Spanish in this novela is a challenge for me, too. One reason I like doing a recap is that it usually forces me to watch the novela twice, and to pay more careful attention to the language. Even so, stuff eludes me. It didn't matter so much in Silvana, since most of the incomprehensible speech came from the Three Stooges, whom I considered peripheral. But in La Doña, I often have trouble with understanding Mónica and her friends. But they probably wouldn't understand me either. :-)

LA DONA:

Juanita: Saul is still STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. The looks on the faces of Monica & Ximena said it all.

Daddy Aguirre calling out Saul was Spot On. I'm thinking he was really saying, "AG has your C*** & your mind in her hands while you're distracted by her boobs."

LA DOÑA @Juanita: "I confess that her face was not what came first to my mind" Well, I was trying not to call any more attention to the considerable physical assets than is absolutely necessary. She's had a bit of augmentation since Los Miz and it appears to be paying off for her. She sure knows how to use it. As for David Chocarro (sorry I gave him the wrong name), his role is described as "Saúl Aguirre es un abogado combativo, honesto e incorruptible" It's the incorruptible part that I worry about. As for other actors, I'd have to give that some thought. But Chocarrro has never seemed like a leading man to me. He's a bit of a lightweight. I wish it were someone with the gravitas of say, Fernando Colunga, but the sex appeal of William Levy (does this date me, terribly?) He should also be a bigger guy altogether. Aracely is not a small gal.

La Doña

LXV, I chuckled at "a bit of augmentation." Actually, I'm surprised she can even stand up straight, given all that's weighing her down. :-)

I think you've nailed it: "someone with the gravitas of, say, Fernando Colunga, but the sex appeal of William Levy." Yes! (I'm the last person who would say that dates you, since I'd be admitting that it dates me, too!) I've been trying to think of one actor who fits that description, but I haven't been able to come up with anyone. Actually, there ARE actors who might, except they're all too old. Hence, I might think they have sex appeal, but they'd be old enough to be Mónica's father. So then I asked myself whether a younger actor can have gravitas. I dunno. So then I tried to think just about younger actors with sex appeal. Two came almost immediately to mind: Luis Ernesto Franco, who played Rodrigo Martínez in Bajo el Mismo Cielo and Iván Sánchez, who played Santiago in La Reina del Sur. However, I can't picture Luis Ernesto Franco as Saúl Aguirre. Not sure about Iván Sánchez. Maybe it's just an impossible role.

I think I'll end this now and enjoy my mind's pictures of all those good-looking actors.

LA DOÑA @Juanita: Franco, maybe. Sanchez will always be a punk in my mind. (a nice punk, but nonetheless) But this is a problem for Arámbula. Everybody looks lightweight opposite her. I know from this, being very tall and large myself. I always have to tone things down just to fit in anywhere. But I'm not a professional actor. Where are the galáns of yore?? (maybe I'm dreaming) But it would be nice to see her swept off her feet, and Chocarro just isn't built for the job. (I apologize if any of this sounds sexist. I want equal rights for big women!!!

LA DONA: Episode 41

MS. JUANITA!! Recap heaven!! It’s just like watching TV!!
THANK YOU, the ladies are on point about your mad skills !

Saul and Monica talked about lost relationship opportunities… and thank goodness ,she has some common sense!

Dad and mom meet their daughter in-law from hell, [hisssss!! [LOL] then dad read ALTAGRACIA and he hit it and wouldn’t quit it!!

So their daughter was a victim of mujer maltrata/ spouse abuse and they worry about their male child in a domestic abuse scenario! Ok I accept that. Azucena look like she was two seconds off Dona’s throat. I say go for it mommi!!

Ximena digs the vibe, the neighbors are on alert, But Saul, is puddy- whipped, just saying!

Juanita: Then stupido defends Dona …..[Hissss!! Love that, sorry Juanita…. I got to steal that one, it’s too damn good!!]....over his own family, barrio, Monica, Ximena, Damn, the witch put a spell on him !!

DEB: .Emiliano is jumping buck wild, he may get a beat down by the community justice league. The barrio is fired up about the kangaroo court verdict . Back at the hospital, Margarita and Lydia know the score. Lazaro and Yessenia are on high alert! They are the only compass in this show!!

Juanita: don’t be so mean!! … But Ximena broke it down and made the call when she bust Monica with...."does your job involve changing Saul/heifer's funky sheets”!!!!

Yes!!! AG loves to mess with Braulio's mind with throwing other men up into his face!! I wonder about Braulio, what is he lacking?? Can he get it up without first beating up then forcing himself on women/wife?

VIVI: ….The set up with the exchange or escape, like they say ...”three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead!”... Cespesdes, soon it’s adios dude, that’s a wrap, the torture begin and come on with it, I enjoy watching my girl have fun.

LXV: As far as Daniel is concern if he is so good, confess and repent and perform restitution after you get out of jail!!

La Doña

Muchas gracias, Halimacandy, for your kind remarks about the recap and your fascinating comments about the episode. I too wonder about Braulio, what makes him tick, what warped him to be the way he is. However, I don't mean to suggest that I have sympathy for him. No way.

La Doña

LXV, why do you say you'll always think of Sanchez as a punk? The only thing I've seen him in, I think, is La Reina del Sur. I wouldn't have called him a punk based on that. ??

LA FAN #7 Wed. 1/25/17

Last night what I remembered:

Main plot:

Paparazzi appear at soccer field to interview Lucas and Vale. After the game and a visit to the café, Lucas promises Vale a night she will never forget: it will be "their night". He leaves and gets a call from an old girlfriend "Karina" who is going on vacation and wants to "say goodbye" to him. Later Vale is still waiting for a call from Lucas. He finally does call but pretends he is too sick for their date. (Tomás tells her he stood her up) Vale wants to come and take care of him. He turns down the offer. In the meantime he pays Salma a visit to clarify his relationship with Vale. He reminds Salma that he is sacrificing himself for both of their careers. Then he goes home where he starts entertaining Karina. What he does not expect is Vale showing up at his door to take care of him. He has to let her in. Karina ( half naked) slithers out. He is all sweaty so Vale thinks he has a bad fever. (Funny how quickly he cools off when he gets into bed and Karina is gone). In last scene of the episode Lucas tells Vale he lied. He is not sick. He is not the man she thinks he is . . .

Everything else:

Tomás wants Vale happy but not with Lucas. At the soccer game, Tomás gives Lucas the "I will be watching you" look as a warning. Later, Vale tells Tomás that he is her 'hijo de corazón" her "heart child" and eventhough she never carried him there is an invisible thread that will connect them throughout their lives.

At the company, Benicio convinces Adriana that in order to get rid of Óscar she will have to tell him she is in another relationship and is totally in love like never before. She follows his advice. Óscar is not happy.

The private detective tells Gabriel he is going to need to get a DNA sample from Tomás to find out if he is his son. Gabriel manages another visit to Vale's and ends up with a chunk of Tomâs' hair and Tomás' toothbrush.

Eloísa is in big trouble because of a huge debt that has come due. She made a big mistake She has no way to pay so will lose the café. She has told nobody not even her sons but they soon all find out. Miriam gives Miguel some money to help his mom out. Why? Because in case he hasn't noticed: she loves him and wants him to be able to count on her. To make some extra money, Diego decides to take Felicitas up on her offer to "model" that she made to him when he ran in to her in the elevator. He takes out her business card makes the call.

Jessica needs a job. Lucas gives Vale a tip about a beauty salon that might be hiring. Jessica goes there for an interview and runs into Carlos. She gives him her business card in case he ever needs a massage. Later we see her meeting him at his boat so she can give him that massage.

Diego and Adriana have their soccer challenge. He wins but not easily. She decides she will win the next one.

LA DONA:

Halimacandy: Is Saul still that STUPID ? He has no freaking clue that AG & her cronies are going to plot to whack his family & friends.

Monica is in danger too.

LA DOÑA: Juanita: sorry I mixed the 2 names up. Neither of these guys I find particularly appealing, but it was Franco who played the shaved-head prison thug, yes? Then he's the punk, not the other one with the curly black hair. As you can see, I'm not particularly taken with either of these guys. I'm old school in my tastes.

And yes, they are making Saúl SO unbelievably stupid, I find it distracting.

I missed a lot of what was going on in the torture scene, except for the incredible toughness of our doomed coronel. And Braulio's dedication to AG remains another mystery. He can't possibly imagine he has a chance with her at this point. Any dog that had been kicked to the curb as much as he has would have bitten the abuser by now. And HOW can he be the gentle Diego's father. Maybe he's just lying in wait for the moment to take his own vengeance, but he still seems to think he's going to get more than table scraps.

La Dona

This is the first TN that I have watched with Aracely Arambula. I think she is a very good actress. I am wondering, are some of her physical "attributes" surgically enhanced? Or is it clever costuming such as push up bras?

La Fan

Thanks Jarifa! I just watched this episode.

Was it just me or did the chunk of hair that Gabriel took from the bathroom look like the chunk of hair that Vale got from Lucas? I am suspicious of everything!

LA FAN

J, I didn't even think of that. Good point! That could really throw a wrench in the whole deal.

La Doña 42

the Colonel says he is trained in torture and will not talk, Braulio drugs him and he babbles, AG gives him more and Braulio has to bring him back from the dead, they leave him alone to get him in the mood.

after her talk with Saul, Monica goes to the office to quit, where Rafael fires her, has her thrown out, calling the cops, it's Gabino who insists he only wants to help.

Felipe gets the reporter working on Guillermo's disappearance when Regina shows up and sees they are plotting agains AG.

Laz listens in on Yesenia's fortune telling, he's amused, but sees how she works people for money.

the doc wants to be Monica's boyfriend, she decides to leave town.

Rafael, on hearing from Leticia about the Colonel's disappearance, where not even the vehicle was found, (and he won't tell her the connection) goes to see Daniel, and runs into Saul who senses something is up and calls cop Velarde (I'm not your secretary) to see if she can run down an early connection between the two, nope, but Daniel and the missing Colonel were in the same private school 20 years ago.

Rafael tries to get Daniel with the program and points out Francisco will be next, then Rafael, and then Daniel, what?, but Daniel says he will only ask for forgiveness.

AG gives Braulio the Jaime/Ximena job, he approaches her first with an offer.

AG has her novio Saul come over to introduce him to her family, Regina and Isabel.

Monica spills she wants to go back home, Yesenia wants to stay in the city, Laz gets upset that it is always about money with her.

Diego drops by to see Lydia, helps her to walk, are they going to kiss?

LA DONA:

Deb: We all agree the Colonel is obviously a goner at this point. Y'all know he's NOT going to SNITCH (AKA NO SNITCHING).

Meanwhile, Yesenia & Lazaro are putting bigger targets on their backs.

LA DONA:

Thanks, Deb! Great job hitting all the plot points.

Well, now that Monica herself wants to leave town, that makes things easy for Lazaro, who’s been trying to figure out for weeks how to convince her to go. Will Yesenia encourage them to go, thus ensuring their safety, or will she encourage Laz to stay and fight for the money? He is definitely seeing her more clearly for the hustler she is.

I so wish Monica could develop an attraction to Alvaro. But, nada, not a spark, nothing. Poor guy. Saul does NOT deserve all this adoration from these women. I want someone good to come along for Alvaro, and soon, since Monica is just not feeling it.

I’m getting kind of tired of Regina trying to play both sides of the fence. She knows that Felipe has every right to try to destroy AG, and that AG deserves it (and she doesn’t even know half the shady stuff AG’s done to Felipe). If she can’t handle that and feels guilty about betraying her sister, then she needs to stay away from him, and go back to being AG’s simpering housewife.

Diego and Lydia are adorable. Just waiting for that other shoe to drop any day now, when one of her friends tells her who he is.

La Fan

Thank you, Jarifa, for the summary!

I had a feeling Adriana was going to be good at soccer. I really like her, and her overall appearance is so natural and ~not~ a plastic Barbie.

Ruh-roh . . . Diego will probably call Adriana's mother for a modeling job and the you-know-what will hit the fan with Adri if the does that and she sees him. Run, Diego, run!!!

That was a big chunk of hair that Gabriel brought to the P.I. I was thinking 'whaaaaaaat?' No kid's brush as that much hair.

Even when directly asked, Miguel dodges answering the "are you gay" question. My money is on him being straight as an arrow.

LA DOÑA deb: you rock! I agree with Vivi; I've always admired your way of condensing several plot points with an ironic twist such that we get all the info with an economy of well-chosen words. I guess for me now the issue is repentance (Daniel) or stubborn defiance (el coronel) and does the nature of the crime mitigate AG's terrible vengeance? Her rage I can understand, but it doesn't give her license to torture & murder. And what's Braulio's story? Was he raped as a child, too?

i want Lydia and Diego to end up together, but I'm guessing they will have to go through many difficult trials before that can happen. I think the Lazaro actor is doing a terrific job. It must be hard to play such a pathetic person, but he really makes you feel his fear & helplessness. Loved how he was cracking up in the next room while listening to the wiley & grasping Yesenia. He's got her number now.

La Fan. Excellent recap, Jarifa. All the high points. Lucas turns out to be interestingly self aware. He knows he's egotistical and superficial. Is there hope for him? I also think that the modeling gig could make Adriana think that Diego is another Oscar. And is Felicitas about to get a taste of her own medicine? Could Jessica even be in the running for Carlos'second wife? It would certainly serve Felicitas right. The mortgage business is a new plot twist that could make this novela a bit longer than otherwise. Gabriel really wants Tomás to be his son. The hair may be Lucas'but the toothbrush is Tomás's. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. Vale has such a radiant center, visible especially in the press conference, that viewerville has to hope for her happiness. Despite its light, farcical tone, this novela does make some good points about celebrity.

La Doña

deb, I always love your recaps, and this was no exception. Thanks very much.

One thing: I think Karen told Saúl that she could find no mention of Rafael, but she did find a link between Miguel Preciado and Daniel Llamas: they were students, perhaps classmates, at the same private school in Vera Cruz. And while she was looking at the school's archives, she also came upon the name Alejandro Céspedes, which she recognized from the news broadcasts about his disappearance. So she has actually come upon a possible link between three of the Monkeys, and Saúl has tied Rafael to Daniel. The noose is tightening.

La Doña

thanks guys!

and thanks Juanita for clarifying what Karen Velardo said.

I'm still amazed at the order Rafael ran off of how the Monkeys will be taken, and waiting for AG to hit him with, what, you think you can fire MY employees?

La Fan

Thanks, Jarifa, for the great recap. I've been trying to keep up with La Fan when I can, though my main novela at the moment is La Doña. I just got done watching last night's Fan episode on Telemundo's web site. I was convinced that Gabriel had picked up Vale's toothbrush and some of her hair, but then I read J's message and am convinced she's right about its being Lucas' hair. So perhaps the toothbrush is Tomas' and the DNA Gabriel has managed to collect will show that Lucas and Gabriel are Tomas' father! :-)

LA DOÑA I like that Karen Velardo! She's everything you wish the whiny Ximena would be. But, to be fair, she's got a good job and Ximena is desperate (and acting it).

La Fan. Juanita: Well, Tomás did complain that his toothbrush was missing. :) If that's Lucas' hair, the dna lab will think that Tomás is Lucas's clone.

La Fan. I wonder if El Quique will end up having something to do with Eloísa's mortgage or one of the other subplots? He's too entertaining a character to limit to so few episodes, it seems to me. Or maybe we'll see him trying to make it as a singer.

This comment has been removed by the author.

LA DONA:

Juanita: When the noose is tightening & as you know, when the remaining Monkeys are cornered, you know they're going to strike back!

LA DOÑA:

Monica is on track to becoming one of my fav characters in TN. So strong, independent, and actually uses her head! She even said it. That conversation with Saul shows what a great real character that she is; compared to her Saul sounds like a 13 year old who has just hit his first spike in testosterone.
Is Monica leaving town? Girl need to make up her mine about this AG assistant thing; it's not like she doesnt know about Saul and AG before. I wonder what AG is gonna say about it this time? Has she said anything after Rafael kick Monica out?
Also, when do you guys think AG will realize Monica is her daughter?

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

Juanita, my hat is off to you! It is hard to watch more than one novela at a time especially if you are doing full recaps for one. It would be a hoot if it turned out that both Lucas And Gabriel were the father. They would be right back where they starte after all of Gabriel's efforts and machinations.

Span Prof, that would be a good twist if Jessica did end up in the running to be Carlos' second wife.

doris, it would be like dèjas vous all over again if Adriana walked in on Diego modeling for her mother Felicitas.

La Fan

I am really getting into la fan. I was a big fan of la fea mas bella. I watched when I decided to work on improving my spanish. But I watched it well after it was discussed on Caray Caray. This is actually my first chance to watch a telenovela and comment with you all.

I like the non typical actresses in this novela. Salma actually is a bit older than your typical telenovela starlets. She was in Mis tres hermanos (a venzuelan telenovela) about 16 years ago and she's in her early 40s now. And it goes without saying that Vale is always awesome to me. :)

The story line does remind me a lot of la fea. But it looks like it will be a lot of fun. I hope they can keep up the pace without going too over the top.

Wendy

I WANT LYDIA /Diego to hook up too!!
And Lazaro has a down to earth style with his main squeeze .the hustler, she is holding it down because they need the cash, she played the husband hot line for cash-faith based to the hilt, I love her!! She is too bad she’s good!! But she need to break- Lazaro, some –off ‘

Lazaro has strength and wisdom, Monica is his first priority, I dread the day they have to deal with AG

Braulio has no redeeming qualities [who would molest a demon baby]

Steve: the monkey are regrouping behind rafeal, who will strike back, Daniel, oh oh!!?? Rafael and Francisco!! You may have something…!!!!

Karen, I hope she survives this, what police department does she work for?

I am at the point of who is going to kill who:
Dad /mom Aguirre: in self-defense...lord please kill him, take another bullet, he is sickening, he doesn’t have the gravitas for this role. I hope he keeps up the stamina, Dona is a lot of momma to handle!!

LXV: XIMENA may have murder in self defense

Tatiana: revelations won’t happen to darn near the end, hopefully!

BATS, BATS ,BATTY , beast circling a beast!! the bats are a cleaner alma than that vampire on the gurney.I

LA DONA CAP#42 WEDS.
HEY!!HOW COME you’ll got epis#42?? Did I miss something?? Or was it weather related?
I HAD TO REFLECT ON YOUR COMMENTS until Thursday -8 pm EST ! WTF!

First up! Monica isn’t going nowhere! STOP TRIPPIN’ you need to stop tripping, because nobody going anywhere, the city is the hub of this drama.

And with what money?? BESIDES LARAZO’s condition will take a turn FOR THE WORST! IT WILL HAVE To be revealed THAT he is under MEDICAL WATCH?! Remember!! THE MAN MAY BE DYING OR seriously impaired debilitated, MONICA IS going to be ...’P.’O’...WHEN SHE FINDS OUT about her DAD’S health... this will bring her closer to the doctor, get it!!
Aguirre tried to reason with saw brain, the lawsuit is on and as far as making him choose?? What??She is my woman, he is delusional, his dad is reiterating real qualities and values, and I hope it sinks in that rock!
Mom and Ximena, are in conference of how to get a job! Mom got smarts!!
DEB: THE REPORTER, / FELIPE these two are the sub current, maybe another effective front to take down AG, poor Felipe he knows he can never [not yet / retraction ] tell Guillermo the truth! The flash back is horrific!! This is way people need to get payback!! UNLESS HE TELL REGINA, WHO as mentioned will saddle the fence to hell!! WHO IS THE WEAKESS LINK!! So many victims!!
DAMN! GUESS WHO WALKS IN AND EYE SPYs the whole setup/dossier laid out on the kitchen table! Chill out mommy Chula. And hold my hand.
Steve, he has to hang on, I missed the first part of the Gitmo but the rest was informative, they need better and slower techniques, thousand slices, go for his jaw [manhood] get heat his root psyche! -! And SNITCHES GET STITCHES!! Torture chamber: colonel is in his element, the confession was too deep!! Good old dope fiend move!!
The Plan with Miquel P., was to kill the other monkeys /each other off, [no honor among psycho serial killers], the colonel’s demon spirit came out and spewed the recall of all the victims /head count of cadavers! A true ghoulish mentality, they lived off of dead bodies for sexual pleasure!! But they wanted to ensure freedom from retribution.
This is the scariest thing /next to the gang bang scenes. It was horrifying [this man need an EMMY!] He played the heck out of that role!
It was very dark, they were depraved beast [demonic] perverse and degenerate is too banal a term for their satanic acts satanic ritual!! AG need to pull back, she can’t handle this, and it’s too painful
JUANITA: like all cowards and bully, I bet money, Braulio likes the whip, if AG would beat his a**, he would be so happy and satisfied!! Can she beat him to death then he can bliss his soul to hell.

DEB: excuse me?? Did YOU SAY...? GABINO? WANTED TO HELP MONICA do what? Carry her carton of her cubical items,
Monica threw down the gauntlet and made it clear he is an A**H***. HER VENOM MAY HELP GET HIM OFF HER BACK!!!!

VIVI: Regina is playing both side of the fence
. Monica has to have somebody, Francisco son [my call -not spoiler] is the doctor??

LVX: Yes , ag has license to murder and torture in my book, go for it and can you slow it down, dude is not suffering enough for my money, draw it out a little!!

Wendy, welcome!

La Fan

Thanks Jarifa

I'm looking forward to what everyone has to say about last night's episode. I must say I was a bit confused by the Val/Lucas interactions. I'm not quite sure where he is coming from.

Wendy

La Dona

Thank you Halimacandy for your 'stream of consciousness" style review.

I wonder if Saul will ever get back with AG?
