Vino el Amor, Lunes 2/20/17 Chapter 79: The New Beginning

Some scenes combined for clarity:

David declined Graciela's offer of money for the land purchase. In fact, he intended to go to the bank for a loan and start paying her back for the previous money she poured into his vineyard. Before she could whine and cajole he took his leave.

Fernanda went looking for Tano at the employees' quarters, but he was working. Luciana was there and she gave Fernanda the birthday gift she had not had the opportunity to present the night before, a copy of the information her father had compiled through his years of experience in vineyards. Fernanda seemed genuinely grateful. Luciana excused herself because she had work to do and Fernanda said she was going inside to ask after Tano. “Remember it's our secret!” And Luciana was on her way. [Who wants to bet that Luciana's enabling of this relationship will get her into big trouble with David within the next half dozen episodes?]

A very frustrated Gracie went running to Lillian to blame her for a lack of vigilance of David, which enabled him to get close to Luciana. “Everything is going to hell!” she hissed, even saying that David took her money for the vineyard, went on the trip to Mexico, and gave her false hopes of a future together “while all that time he's in love with that stupid Luciana.” Lillian looked like she would have preferred to learn to perfect her fake Boston accent, so Gracie snatched the book out of her hands. “It's not a threat, Mother, it's real. If I've lost everything the only consolation I have is that you have, too. And if David doesn't take the money I offer to help him with, I will destroy him.”
Lillian tried to convince Gracie that money was not the best weapon; that with people like David it is getting his love [Something we all know she knows nothing of]. However, she promised to try to find a way to make her money work for them. In the meantime Gracie was to win the loyalty of David's children. Gracie complained that Fernanda now seems to like Luciana. Lillian goaded her by saying “If I didn't hate her I'd actually admire her.” When Gracie's dander went up Lillian encouraged her to bathe and rest while she did some thinking. She grinned as Gracie walked off and got back to her book.

Fernanda left the employees' building just as Tano returned. She thanked him for helping out about Peter the evening before and for making her birthday party the best night of her life. She is really hung up on that kiss. He got her to sit down and started talking about not wanting trouble with her father. They finally agree to tell him nothing.

David waited in his study for Juan and almost as he arrived they argued about the olive grove lands. Luciana's assessment was positive and David was intent on the purchase. Juan shouted that the lands were no good and acted insulted that David trusted Luciana more than he trusted him, also that her degree on agronomy doesn't mean she hasn't spent enough time in the wine business. David then told him that one of the reasons he is employed by him was the guilt about what happened to Juan's father. However, he is now thinking that this doesn't stand up to their differences anymore. In a few words, if his attitude doesn't change it would be better if he left. [David, why don't you just use two of TV's most infamous words on him right now?] This got into another dispute which ended with David telling him that if he wanted to continue working for him he would need to change his attitude. The first thing he would have to do is to face the detective with him and speak up in Miguel's favor. “Second, when I give an order, you carry it out!”
Juan nodded and left. This round went to David.

We get another rerun of Marta's “I don't want you to get hurt” lectures to Luciana and Luciana's response that she is going to fight for her love. FF – >

Fernanda and Bobby talked about her birthday gifts. She seems to appreciate Luciana's. She almost sounds like a Luciana fan. [As far as I'm concerned the jury is still out on that.]

Luciana and Susan talked about the investigation. No progress had been made, Luciana was sure that Juan would not make any statements exonerating Miguel, and this would go on business as usual. She mentioned about how the succinic acid was delivered to the warehouse where some immigrants were kept. One way or another they would have to help Miguel.

Lillian had clearly reserved her energies for taunting Marta again. As she and Sonia entered the kitchen she asked Sonia to get her some vitamins because Gutiérrez was keeping her busy with getting busy. Sonia suggested that she wait for him by sitting out on the porch but Lillian declined this suggestion. She mentioned the election and how a sheriff will need a wife who represents all the women in his community. [And does she actually think that a Boston accent will help her with that? Delusional, much?] “Obviously, a North American.”
This was a deliberate slap at Marta and she knew it. So did Sonia.

Perla and Carito had another round of disagreement on how Perla was screwing up her life and her situation. Carito emphasized that she didn't have to accept Mark's behavior, driving home the point that she should tell Juan and/or call the police. Perla realized that Carito had her best interests in mind and hugged her in return for them.

Gracie met Juan at an outdoor café. He was determined to purchase the land and ruin David. From here on “It's every man for himself, beginning with you.” Gracie didn't like this, suggesting that he wait for David to change his mind about this, but Juan said he would top any offer made for the olive grove. He swore he would ruin David once he got the lands. Then he got up and left Gracie at the table. She yelled after him, staring with eyes paler than a wolf's, as though he needed to wait for her to dismiss him.

David and Luciana talked about the purchase and how the olive crop will also help benefit the grapes. Luciana knows something about this because she described how olive pressing works similarly to grape pressing. This led to more ideas from Luciana and this turns David on! He starts getting amorous, saying lots of things she would want to hear, culminating in kissing. [They're making it up to us for making us wait before.]

Miguel and Erika once again about his breakup with Luciana. FF – >

David looked over the results of Fernanda's preliminary college entrance exams, saying that the minimum score she would need for a good university is 1200 and – guess what? – she didn't make the grade. She has another chance but needs to study harder and longer. In the house, all day, no fooling around. She started making excuses but David wasn't having it. He emphasized that she needed college to attain a good profession and become an independent woman. How would she expect to learn how to manage the vineyard if she couldn't manage school? She answered “By working with the workers and learning from you.”
To be a good leader you need a good foundation,” he said.
I'll do better.”
You better. Because with grades like this you won't get into a good university. Now all you have to do is focus on school.” [Your hormones can wait, Fernanda.]

The following morning David told his children he wanted them to come with him to share something important. Fernanda refused because she was angry with him and headed for the stairs. David stopped her.
I'm not asking. Now come with me.”
They followed him.

Marta looked a little down in the mouth, more so than usual. When León asked why she told him about hearing Lillian talking about marrying Gutiérrez. She knew that Lillian did this specifically to annoy her. He suggested she not fall into that game. “Does that mean you forgave him for destroying our family?”
She told him that things were more complicated than he thought. It had been fun shoving the relationship in Lillian's face but.... she had fallen in love with Gutiérrez. He reminded her that Luciana wouldn't like her to be with the man who had deported her and her father.

Erika told her father that they are about ready to press the grapes. She showed him an expense report and he was pleased. Detective Torres came in looking for Miguel regarding their investigation.

Up in the Lisa Shrine Boudoir, David told his children and the two succubi that it was time to open the room. “It's time for us to live with the good memories and live happily again.” He threw the key symbolically into the wastepaper basket. The kids looked happy, but the same could not be said of Gracie or Lillian.
Kids, please forgive me. In closing this room I closed my heart. I didn't want to lose the memory of your mother.”
Thanks, Dad. I miss my mother very much and all of this helped to remember her.”
Bobby ran off while Fernanda opened a chest of drawers to look at her mother's clothes.
What a lovely surprise, David,” Gracie said, uneasily, “but I didn't know what you meant when you said you had to prepare the children...”
Nothing to talk about. My children need to remember their mother.”
Fernanda took out a scarf and inhaled her mother's perfume on it. Bobby took some boxes out of the closet. Lillian took a teal scarf out of the drawer.
I gave her this scarf was when we were in France,” she said.
Yes, the summer before Bobby was born,” said David. “You had come with us.”
Yes. I was helping her with Fernanda.”
Well, Mama, I didn't know you were such a nostalgic fool,” said Gracie. She had folded her arms and tightened her blood-red lips.
Let's all remember Lisa as a family,” David said.
Bobby started looking at the contents of the top box. Fernanda and David looked over his shoulder. Gracie looked like she left out. [As she should have, as Lisa had good reason for not wanting her around for extended periods of time.]

Det. Torres said they had no particular suspect. He brought up the issue of the man who died in the area. Erika explained that the man arrived alone during the cold snap, asked for work, and died there. By coincidence the dead man was related to a co-worker of Miguel's. This could be corroborated with other workers. Adolfo suggested they talk to the vineyard boss and they left the study together. Miguel arrived immediately thereafter and Erika told him what was going on. It seemed that Juan said something that implied he was responsible for the poisoned wine and the illegals. Miguel was getting annoyed at Juan's implications and hoped that Erika didn't believe them. She told him that she trusted him and so did her father.

The boxes Bobby took out contained, among other things, birthday and other cards Lisa had saved over the years. David took a large box off the top shelf, saying it contained Lisa's wedding dress. Lillian ran ahead of Bobby, saying this sort of thing was too valuable. Gracie turned her back with a Bette Davis expression on her deathly pale face. David put the box on the bench at the foot of the bed and opened it. Fernanda immediately noticed a wine stain on the dress.
That stain was the sign that wine would be a major part of our lives,” David said.
That was right. Lisa took care of the vineyard with you, David.” Gracie felt she had to say something. Her tone was less than happy.
Bobby found some drawings from childhood and letters to Santa Claus. He and Fernanda looked at them and talked with their father. Gracie groused sotto voce to Lillian about the children distracting David. Lillian went to the kids, saying that there were boxes with lots of photos their mother took. They went back to the closet. This gave Gracie an opening.
David, why did you decide to do this?”
As I said before, to remember Lisa and to go on with our lives.”
Ay, what made you change your mind?”
I once said I'd open this room when I was ready and that day came.”
What made you ready?”
Fernanda rescued him from having to reply by showing him a Mother's Day photo. He hugged her. Neither saw the daggers shooting out of Gracie's feral eyes.

León was cleaning carrots in the kitchen with Sonia while lamenting how Lillian caught them twerking at Fernanda's party. He was not happy at her rude comments. Sonia [who must have been dreaming again] said that if Lillian knew him she's see what a great person he is. She started to kiss his forehead but he was still bothered by his conversation with his mother. Sonia told him that she had heard the marriage talk but confided her theory that Lillian did this just to vex Marta. That didn't make León feel any better because of his own feelings about Gutiérrez. He started chopping the carrots [but needs to learn how to hold the knife differently].

Bobby tripped and fell while carrying a box, but fortunately nothing broke. The contents were the ornaments from Lisa and David's first Christmas together.
Well, it looks like my sister saved everything,” Gracie said in a bored tone.
She always like saving things that had good memories,” David said.
Dad, are we keeping all these things?” Fernanda asked.
Yes, as much as you want,” he said.
Gracie did not like it two sentences later when David announced that he would like to empty out the room and use it for something else, like a game room or a library.
But what will we do with all this?” asked Fernanda.
I thought we'd donate things to the Latino community, or immigrants – ”
Lillian couldn't take this.
Nobody is taking my daughter's things anywhere. Nobody!” She grabbed the box of Christmas ornaments and a few other things.
Mama, calm down,” said Gracie. “You don't want to upset the children.”
Neither of you is going to tell me what to do with Lisa's things. The only others who have a say in this are my children.”
No! I forbid you to give away Lisa's things! I forbid you! And least of all to Latinos!”
I don't see how this affects you, Señora,” David said.
David is right. These things belong to the children,” Gracie said. She handed the box back to Bobby.
Keep those things in the house, with the children or wherever in this house. They're my daughter's things.”
Don't go on like this,” said David. “Lisa would be happy if we donated these things to Latinos.”
I don't understand where you got this stupid idea. Who suggested this nonsense?” [not sure of this one]
I will not allow this lack of respect,” David answered.
I won't allow my daughter's things to end up who knows where,” said Lillian. “You don't understand; it's all I have of her.” She started to weep, maybe for real for a change. “Some things are passed down from my grandmother. Before you give them away I'd burn them.”
She left the room. Gracie, who had been silent through the rant, finally found her forked tongue.
Kids, take whatever you want. Your grandmother is very sensitive on this subject. David, don't worry. I'll go talk to my mother.”
Thanks.”
Gracie handed an ornament to him and left the room.
David didn't have to worry about his children. Both understood that their mother would have liked them to donate things to help others. He told them to take whatever they wanted while he went to work.

Det. Torres wanted to talk to Miguel alone. Erika was adamant in her trust in Miguel.

Perla waited in Susan's work area. She started to tell her about the call from her cell phone, saying that the call came from the person who stole her phone. She did not identify Mark. She told Susan to be careful in case something else happened. She chickened out and left, leaving Susan confused.

Lillian was upset, saying she was afraid David would make her leave [Actually, that's what we'd all recommend]. Gracie told her she shouldn't act this way, which provoked the question “Do you know how your sister's death affected me?”
Gracie was shocked for a moment, but quickly recovered.
Yes, of course, but David decided it's time to move on and I can't stop him. Calm down.”
Ay, I guess. But what bothers me is he isn't changing this for you.”
Whom are you referring to?”
It's obvious that if this were for you he'd do something different. To me the explanation is that Luciana is behind this.”
We have to do something, now,” said Gracie.
Fernanda came into the room, concerned about Lillian.
My heart is in pieces,” said Lillian. “I don't understand your father. Why is he making this so difficult for me?”
Mama, stop,” said Gracie.
Seriously, I don't know why you allow this.”
Grandma, don't look at it that way. Dad's suggestion is a good plan.”
It's not a good plan, Fer. I can't deal with this pain. It's like losing Lisa all over again.”
Mama, you know I don't like to see you cry. Calm down.”
You know this house is your father's. Why is he throwing away the little that is Lisa? Why?”
No, Grandma. That's not what he's done.”
I don't understand,” Lillian said. She started crying again. Fernanda hugged her. Gracie, who had been watching carefully, stepped in.
Ay, Fer, let's leave your grandmother alone to cry quietly. Let's go.”
She led Fernanda out of the family room, leaving Lillian alone on the couch.

In the cava, Luciana wanted to show David a report but he had something else on his mind.
The night of Fernanda's party when we went to Lisa's room I realized that I opened it with a new emotion. I didn't have the intense sadness that paralyzed me. I realized it became a certain nostalgia and good memories.”
David, that's great. At least you defeated those feelings.”
I decided to leave the past behind. For that reason I opened Lisa's room. Because with you I will have a future without the pain of the past.”
I don't believe it. I love that you feel this way.”
It's you that made it happen.”
What I love most is that the past doesn't hurt you anymore. That you remember it as it is, something beautiful.”
Now I have one more motivation in my life and that gives me hope. Luciana, we're going to be very happy together.”
You are a great man, and I love you with my whole being.”
I also love you with all my being. Since the day you came back to the house without knocking on the door, remember? ” They almost laughed. “That day you gave me back my life. It wasn't easy and took time and without demands. This is a true love. Thanks for making me feel this way again.”

Besos. No work would probably get done after this.

Urban, your recap was so eloquently written, it was a joy to read.

"Before she could whine and cajole he took his leave", "Up in the Lisa Shrine Boudoir" and "Neither saw the daggers shooting out of Gracie's feral eyes" were among many favorites.

I smiled at "[David, why don't you just use two of TV's most infamous words on him right now?]". Yes!! Fire him David. Quickly!!

"[Who wants to bet that Luciana's enabling of this relationship will get her into big trouble with David within the next half dozen episodes?]" mirrored my own thoughts exactly. David will see this a betrayal of trust and is sure to cause a rift in his newly developing relationship with Luci.

I am happy David opened the vault. He did take joy in the past and is now ready to move forward with his life.

"she had fallen in love with Gutiérrez". Marta, really? The man who deported your family? I can't believe his treachery didn't negate any feelings she had for him. Even if it hadn't, I can't believe she told Leon that.

I love Sonia with Lilian, watching her seemingly without judgment but with those knowing glances, ready to deflect Lili's hurtful words to others as much as she can.

"She grinned as Gracie walked off and got back to her book". Lilian appears to hate her own daughter as well. However, I agree with you in that for a moment, she looked truly stricken about Lisa. If she had feelings for anyone, it was her.

Things look bleaker for Perla each passing day.

"Besos. No work would probably get done after this". A perfect ending for a great summary. Thank you UA!

Diana

"Gracie, who had been silent through the rant, finally found her forked tongue"

Awesome UA. Big thanks

Well Perla tried and while it wasn't much of a heads up I hope Susan can connect the dots. Perla on the other hand I fear is a dead Fräulein walking.

Marta is much more hurt Brian is with Lilian than she feels betrayed he deported Marcos and Luciana and kept Leon from having a relationship with his father. Busting up the family she could overlook with enough groveling and the kids can stick it if they don't like it. Brian, however, may have dug too deep a hole by returning to Lilian.

Marta was happy for a moment last night. She could barely suppress a smile when Luciana told her it hurts she and David cannot be open with their relationship. What a nasty human gleefully desiring to be right.

Instead of poaching university text books, got a couple ideas for Luciana that should get her a new Cadillac from David. Pit the olive and stuff with pimento and if she wants to blow his mind drop an olive in a cocktail.

Fernanda strikes me as a spoiled little rich girl who has no idea what it is to need to work for a living. She hasn't talked at all about what she wants to do with her life. The most unfortunate thing is that now that Lisa is dead her only role model from Lisa's peer group is the sister who murdered her.

Gracie is an absolute fool for the mindset that her career is expendable relative to marrying a man with money and position. If she throws her art career away she' up the creek. Lillian didn't do a good job of teaching her independence, not to mention that her art career could have brought lots of wealthy men into her life. Her obsession with David is about taking him back from Lisa. We all know that when she is revealed as Lisa's killer that David will be on the warpath.

Fernanda doesn't deserve an expensive car from her dad. That is a far more appropriate gift for college graduation.

Thanks again Urban. Busy girl these days aren't we? I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do.
Excellent recap. Much fun. It appears our ship has finally drifted out of the Doldrums, with the crew, largely, still alive.

I take it from last night that Lillian actually does not know, or accept, one or the other, that DG killed Lisa? Her blowup at the kids looked real, even for her, making me believe that if her feelings are that strong for dead Lisa, she could never been as civil ? as she is now to DisGrace. I never saw an open admission from DisGrace, but I thought she had dropped a couple hints to Lillian.

I am glad to see that David has grown one, and started taking control of his business and life. This could get fun when the other one drops. It was telling when he told Fer, "That was not a request." IE: I am not asking, I am telling. Good one Dave.

Tofie I like your cocktail ideas with the olive. I would add that if Luci has a cherry to drop in too, it is a done deal for sure.

Thank you UA! Got busy last night and only half-watched, but it turns out I missed a lot.

Kirby, I had the impression that Lilian knew but maybe not. I am pretty much basing my impression on the suspicious looks Juan and Lilian threw at Gracie the first week when Lisa was found dead.

Fer needs to go to SAT prep, apparently.

Thank you ,Urban, for that excellent and detailed recap. Things are suddenly starting to happen.

My favorite part was Lilian telling Sonia that she needs vitamins because she is busy getting busy with El Love Machine. Kudos to Gut, but Lilian, how indiscreet. Ladies do not kiss and tell. She just loves to twist that knife in Marty's back. Uff.

I must say that the ceremonial grand opening of Lisa's room was emotional. Anyone who has ever had to deal with a loved one's possessions after his or her death knows how difficult that is to do. I agree that it is the first time I have ever seen Lilian show any emotion. I don't even remember her seeming very upset at the time of Lisa's death.

It is encouraging to see Dave snap out of his ennui and start taking charge. I don't know who is the bigger brat ..Fer or Juan.

No, Lillian doesn't know at all; she is sufficiently self-absorbed so this has most likely never occurred to her. Had she even suspected this Gracie would be six feet under by now and we wouldn't have a series. Juan wasn't an actual witness and has no material proof, but he did see Gracie come back from the crime in an agitated state and when Lisa's body was discovered he drew his own conclusions, which we know to be correct.

What we do know about DisGracie from our fly-on-the-wall observation is that she can be short-circuited when caught off guard. Juan may or may not know this but Lillian does, as women are often better observers of such things. Juan could cause her downfall if he makes an accusation in front of Lillian and/or David. I think Lillian's reaction to the disassembling of the Lisa shrine was genuine even if not for the right reasons. Lisa was clearly her favorite daughter because of her life path.

I see David as an nth-generation (2nd or 3rd) US-born landowner, which Lillian sees as Upper Crust. He is the sort of man Lillian probably tried to marry and couldn't... or didn't because of her own (admitted) weakness for Latin men. Brian Gutierrez is the compromise she makes because of this, as he is 2nd-generation US born and we've not heard him speak Spanish at all in this series. She is the ultimate hypocrite when she rejects Latinos as a group yet lusts after one who is also likely to be at least ten years younger than she is.

BTW, I don't recall ever having heard her maiden name. Where is she supposed to be from? Her British sounds so phony because of its inconsistency and why is she attempting to acquire a Boston accent? Broadcast British is so much better to most American ears and when was Lillian ever in either Boston or Britain? We're not getting any clues about these things.

P.s. American universities and colleges also look at students' extra curriculum activities and volunteering in addition to SAT scores. I wonder if the same is true for Mexican universities and colleges.

Thanks, Urban. "Marta looked a little down in the mouth, more so than usual." Gleeps, that sounds bad! And yep, I can see Luciana's collusion with Fernanda coming back to bite her in the near future...

The succinic acid was delivered to the warehouse where some immigrants were kept - shouldn't this be a HUGE clue as to who was bringing in the immigrants? Shouldn't Gut be in on this?

Lillian: "No! I forbid you to give away Lisa's things! I forbid you! And least of all to Latinos!" Did she actually say that in Spanish? LOL! She gets all the funniest/most ironic lines.

No, Lillian hasn't a clue that Disgrace killed Lisa. She won't take it well when she finds out. We don't know for sure yet, but she might have killed her husband. Would she kill Disgrace too?

Olives. Grapes. Next time they have a bad batch of wine, they can convert it to vinegar and make salad dressing. Super-expensive "gourmet" salad dressing.

We don't know what kind of grapes David and Adolfo grow, do we? I'd like to drink some similar type of wine when watching the show.

Oh and I think Adolfo and Erika should name their special wine "Odio." Local wine enthusiasts will find that they can get the best wine imaginable by combining equal portions of David's "Amor" and Adolfo's "Odio." David will marry Erika and they will merge the vineyards together. Luci and Mig will go to San Francisco and never be heard from again.

Julie: David will NOT marry Erika because it would be stupid!

Lillian will NEVER know the truth about her Mini-me, Graciela whacking Lisa until the Gran Final (assuming the Body Count starts rising up before then).

Then I'm stupid !

Soooo if we saw Lillian go all Beastmode last night about a few of her (dead for years) daughter's things, we can assume that was a warmup for how she will react when the Wizard of Grace comes out from behind the curtain.

Is it possible for her to be mad enough to have an aneurism?

I was musing into the ethos yesterday about how DisGrace will be found out. I might have a clue today, given the fact that DG, Lil and NoJ are all in this little Coven together. NoJuan could possibly rat out DG to Lillian as a negotiating ploy to turn those two against each other if it appears to him that Lillian could be more valuable, or if DisGrace is an otherwise immovable obstacle to his plans.

Disgrace could blurt out the truth herself in a crazed tantrum when it finally becomes clear to her that she can never, ever ever have David.

If Lilian doesn't believe Graciela marry David because something is going on with Luciana why isn't she working a plan B? Lilian should be kissing Luciana's butt right now.

Last night was David's first step in telling his family about his relationship with Luciana. My gosh, if Lilian and Graciela acted this way over donating Lisa's things and re-purposing a room, he can't expect trotting out her replacement to go well.

I hope David tells Fernanda when they are alone and no fire fanners around.

When is Luciana going to tell Miguel she loves David or will she hide it and let him find out once they are engaged as she did with David?

Miguel should have assumed that Luci was into David when he peeped from behind the door and saw them together before Fernanda's party. But these characters don't tend to jump to conclusions. Miguel won't assume that Luci is in love with David until their 20th wedding anniversary. And we won't blame Mig for being confused because she'll still be sending him mixed messages.

Juan turning Lillian and DisGracie against each other by outing DisGracie as Lisa's killer...
DisGracie admitting it during a tantrum...
Lillian, David, or anyone else overhearing an argument between DisGracie and Juan...

There are lots of options here, but I doubt this revelation will happen until the last week.

Lisa's cell phone was at the scene of the crime, but nothing has become of it. It would have been a good thing if the camera had been activated somehow, but I doubt it and the writers better not have retconned this.

Exactly. It wouldn't surprise me if Luciana and David marry that she insist Miguel is given Lisa's old room and Luciana brings him breakfast in bed and chases off any woman that calls.

Still very clear to me David is way more into her than she is him. You don't see her making plans for a weekend in San Francisco with David.

I gave Luciana the tofie's choice test for galans. David bound in a room with a bomb and Miguel in a separate room with a bomb with just enough time on each so she can save only one. She saves Miguel.

Tofie, your comment deserves its own reply.

Luciana would never believe that Lillian was brown-nosing her without an ulterior motive. This would be very ineffective in addition to something totally out of character for Lillian. Luciana knows that Lillian was making Marta's life hell for ages and she wouldn't forgive that.

Lillian did once comment that Gracie should not give up her art prematurely. However, she should have emphasized that she shouldn't give it up at all.

I don't think David is in a rush about revealing his relationship with Luciana. His first hurdle will be Fernanda and he might stumble there, which makes me wonder.....

Luciana could possibly prevent this by holding The Tano Secret over FerBrat's head.

However, what is far more likely is that either La Bruja or La Súcuba will overhear something and rat Luciana out to David.

Tano had better finish college ASAP.

Yeah, I can't believe Luciana would hold the Tano secret over Fernanda's head. I don't think blackmail is in her repertoire. But Fernanda might hold it over her own head - that is, she might sullenly go along with David and Luci out of gratitude for Luci keeping her secret. But it will blow up in their faces just the same when David finds out, and then Fernanda will have no further motive to continue supporting Dad's relationship. She'll become a SERIOUS brat.

Thank you Urban, you do such a great job and I know you are very busy these days writing for MdN.

Urban, yes people have mentioned Lisa's cell phone being at the crime scene, however, in this scenario, they didn't even call the police! There was no police investigation into the alleged "accident." The only thing David did was call the mortuary to come pick up Lisa's body. No coroner, no investigation, no NOTHING. We needed CSI to investigate, but not here! LOL!

I liked how David lit into Fernanda about her test scores!

As for DisGrace, boy you could really tell how she did not want Lisa's memory brought up. I wonder if she feels the least bit of guilt carrying that little burden around with her.

Julie, I think Miguel should marry Erica, instead of David marrying Erica. Besides, I don't think David has the least bit of interest in her. Erica is throwing herself at Miguel and I'm sure he will fall for her soon and forget about Luciana. Besides, I think they make a hotter couple. ;)

The show is over in Mexico now. I hope we see everyone getting their just desserts when we see the last few shows. Hopefully Sonia and Leon will stay together. I really like them as a couple.

Not for a minute would Luciana believe Lilian sincere but if Lilian wants to remain in that house the only way it would happen is if Luciana gave the ok. Luciana already has David worked up about Graciela and Juan and surprised she hasn't sent him after Lilian.

Nor do I think Luciana would cover the budding relationship with Tano simply to get Fernanda's approval. Luciana has already mused Fernanda may have connected her silence with their improving relationship and it uncomfortable. Anyway if David finds out it won't matter.

Julie: Loved your comment when you said, "Olives. Grapes. Next time they have a bad batch of wine, they can convert it to vinegar and make salad dressing. Super-expensive "gourmet" salad dressing."

Now that is funny!

Is that damn cell phone in one of those boxes in the Lisa Shrine, waiting for Bobby to plug it in and recharge it?

Is it going to be hard for David to get it across to Fer about messing with the help? Just saying.

David will be hard pressed to explain why it's not okay for Fer to be with Tano, but I think he'll be stubborn about it for much longer than will be entertaining.

Unless he actually makes a pact with Fer and breaks up with Luci in order to get Fer to break up with Tano. Ugh, then they'll mope around looking miserable for at least a month, even while Luci tries to get back with Miguel again (who will probably be enthralled by Erika by then).

I did not see the early episodes where Lisa got 'Rocked'. So Dave just calls the meat wagon and has her hauled off, right?

Well then where in the world were John Walsh and Nancy Grace, this is the USA you know. Were they in San Francisco with a 'do not disturb' on the door? 'Cause here in Flor-I-Duh you can't even pull a stunt like that with a feral cat.

I have noticed, as in real life, cell phones, and to a lesser degree laptops, are playing a bigger role in TN plots with their ubiquitous audio and video recording capabilities. So I am holding onto the cell phone idea. It would make a perfect ending to have our pint sized super hero Bobby discover it.

I am trying to remember if there was a foreshadowing shot of Lisa's cellphone down by the river. I kind of think that I remember seeing it there as Lisa sank in the water. It would be very interesting if Bobby found it in the the box of memories. Would the writers be clever enough to think of that ?

UA--Thanks so much for your lengthy and detailed recap, especially of the dialog. Sometimes DisGracie just talks to fast and at too high a pitch. I can understand Luciana the best, probably because I know what she's going to say ahead of time. No, it's probably because Spanish is not her native language and speaks more distinctly.

I'm a fan of the Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez. He was living in Italy for a long time, learned Italian and gets interviewed on Italian TV programs. I can't understand the interviewer, but I can understand JDF's Italian answers (sometimes quite long), even though pizza, pasta and gelato are about the only Italian words I know.

Whatever I could add has already been covered. I thought David "desecrating" Lisa's room was a little precipitous. If he really wanted his children to have some of Lisa's things as mementos, the three of them should have done it by themselves, not with Lil and DisGracie standing there watching. I felt for Lil, oddly. It WAS her daughter and she should have been shown more courtesy and been offered some things as well. But we know Lil and she would somehow have turned it into a pity party, which she did anyway.

I thought Lil on several occasions in the past stated that she preferred Lisa, who did what she was told--marry a handsome, rich guy. I don't think she really cared what DisGracie did with her life. Lil had what she wanted. She's Barnacle Babe, or Lilly Leach, whatever you prefer.

Oh, and that notebook wasn't of Luci's dad's advice and teachings. It was a blank book. Luci was trying to tell her she should fill it with her own dad's advice and teachings. In the future it would be as meaningful to her as Marcos' was to Luci.

Kirby--Actually, David carried Lisa back up to the mansion grounds from where they found her floating in the water. When they couldn't revive her, he cried over her body for some overly long stretch of time. And yes, she was buried right away. The dent on her skull was attributed to hitting her head on a submerged rock in the water and not a projectile in the hands of a human being. There was no autopsy, which wouldn't have garnered any new information. We were all surprised there was no follow up by the police, or a report filed, or SOMETHING. No one searched the area and no one wondered about a cell phone. True, David was a mess, but Lil or Marta could have mentioned it, but then there was no one to mention it TO.

Susanlynn--We saw the cell phone way upstream partially hidden by rocks and sand.

Sorry, Cynthia, you "pre-answered" Kirby's question about the non-investigation. I guess his was more NOT a question as much as a statement of disbelief.

I checked the older recaps and it does say that David found Lisa's phone. It's not clear what he did with it, but it doesn't sound as though he threw any of her stuff away - so there very well could be some good evidence waiting to be found.

However, those same recaps say that her battery may have been dead by the time she got to the river, because she didn't answer when David was calling. (She was driving, though, so maybe this is a rare instance of a TN character letting the phone ring.) If the battery was dead, she wouldn't have been able to record what went down between her and Disgrace during the fight. There could be other stuff on there, though, like a recording of the argument she heard between Juan and Disgrace. This seems likely.

It is of course ridiculous that Lisa's body would have been hauled away without an investigation. I don't think there is any state in which that would happen. In California, in particular, the law says:

"It shall be the duty of the coroner to inquire into and determine the circumstances, manner, and cause of all violent, sudden, or unusual deaths;  unattended deaths;  deaths where the deceased has not been attended by either a physician or a registered nurse [...] in the 20 days before death;" lots more, you get the idea, it's all here: http://codes.findlaw.com/ca/government-code/gov-sect-27491.html

The coroner might still decide that it was an accidental drowning, but if there's a way to determine that the blow to the head occurred before the drowning, that would raise some red flags. And the police would be interested as well.

Darn Autocorrect--you couldn't figure out I meant Leech and corrected it for me?

Now that would be an O. M. G. episode. And it would ensure Bobby and Fer would not go around wasting their time on visitations down at San Quentin, or wherever they hold the death row customers.

It is already over in Mexico, so they can't add it in now, unless it was in the original.

You know, hateful as she is, DisGrace is about the most interesting one in this show. Her quest for Daveeeed is reminiscent of Schwarzeneggar as the Terminator in the first one. Then at other times you can just see her blood boiling when one of her schemes is 'foiled again!' I do hope we see some Mortal Kombat between Dis and Lil somewhere along the line. You are truly nutty when you keep doing the same things and expect some different outcome. At what point do you throw in the towel and admit it just aint gonna hoppin.

FerBrat's Karma will be coming ladies & gentlemen, I promise y'all that!

Julie: Thanks for posting that link to the California Code. I love reading the law....I know...I'm a nerd. Part of my job in real life is to understand governmental laws where I work.

Steve, I am not as sure as you. But you ARE the Karma and Body Count Chancellor. FerBrat has been a smelly little turd sometimes, but she is really not that bad. She has been influenced by DisGrace, but until yesterday she was just a kid.

Now if you mean her Karma will be finding out how her Mother was murdered in cold blood, then yup, that's some Karma alright. I'd love to see Fer, Bobby, David and :Lillian circle around DisGrace and ask how she could have murdered their Mom/Wife/Daughter.

I agree that Fer's karma will be discovering that the aunt she idolizes killed her mother. Anyone who has been deceived by a relative he or she loves knows how hurtful that discovery is.

I love watching the actress playing Disgrace chew up the scenery. First, we got all her purring , seductive moves. Now, we are getting the rage simmering just beneath those cold, grey eyes. She is always impeccably coiffed ,groomed, and dressed, not a hair out of place. I worry that she may become so desperate to have Moby Dave that she will try to kill Luci.

Hmmm...after the display Lilian made over Lisa's possessions ,I wonder if finding out that Disgrace killed Lisa will kill Lilian. Has she started on those vitamins?

Hey, thanks, Urban. Still haven't finished watching the episode or reading the comments. Just wanted to say thanks!

Moreover-----
Urban, here's to your," [And does she (Lil) actually think that a Boston accent will help her with that? Delusional, much?] “Obviously, a North American.”

She obviously doesn't know her geography. Mexico is, of course part of the North American Continent. (Ignore the fact that, though it hangs on below us and above Central America, we're all "North American.") She meant Gringa but for some reason wouldn't say it.

I think the Spanish translations for Gut's dialog is hysterical. I can't stand his "2d generation" accent and tune him out and read the Spanish instead. Much more fun.

Susanlynn--If DisGracie is sufficiently delusional, she will decide that if she can't have Moby Dave (I forgot how apt that moniker is), nobody can. Yikes.

That is what I've been waiting for - for Disgrace to get more aggressive with Luciana. Her other tactics are failing.

So..I figure it will be prison or death for Juan, Marked, and Disgrace, but if Lilian does not have a heart attack when Disgrace is revealed as Lisa's killer, how will Dave get her out if his home?

Susanlynn, David will say "hey! What is Brian doing out there with Marta?" And when Lil steps outside to look, David will lock the door behind her.

Julie perfect. Problem solved. I was overthinking it and Baker Act, etc..etc..

Sue, DisLusional said last night or the night before when talking to Lillian that since Daveeeed turned down her latest bribe, if her plans begun to fall apart she would use that money he turned down to DisTroy him.

Urban great recap.
Lillian's fake or croc tears? Maybe real. I think she loves lisa more than grrracie.
Juan is really flipping out with hatred for davy.

See, marta still got the hots for gut. Thats why she get so spittin nails mad
At lils when she see them together.
The heart wants what it wants.

Fer is boy crazy. Or tano crazy. Not Good with the grades dropping. Forget
Love and get an education. Love later.
Or risk the wrath of DAAAAAAAAAAD!!!!!

Thanks Urban.

Julie..good idea, and let's hope Dave remembers to change the locks..quickly.

Kirby..yikes! That means that Disgrace will join the Juan\Lilian team . Dave, get the wagons in a circle. Call out the Calvary. Here come the three Horsemen. I'd say four , but dumb as dirt Marked is probably going to be hoisted on his own petard.

And then the other day when DisGrunt had her motivational chat with NoJuan, remember he told her that from here on out it is everyJuan for him/herself and that their agreement was OFF.

The the three moosekateers are not pulling together anymore. All three of them are so consumed with greed and or hatred for something or someJuan that none of them are really sitting back and planning like in the past. They are all just one spark away from a full blown explosion.

Well, I think anyway.

Hmm...Whose name will be on the next rock that Disgrace picks up..Luci or Dave ?

There's a 3rd name for that coming rock concert of one, "Luciana" the red lipped Doggracie hates her.
