La Candidata, 8/16/2017 Chapter 47: Emiliano is Guilty, and Regina makes a hard decision
Jose is distraught and tells Natalia
that it’s her fault that his mother died. If he had not met her nothing would
have happened to his mother. Natalia
feels he is being unfair. He is also
upset that he kept him from killing Omar. Natalia tells him she kept him from
killing Omar because she did not want him to go to jail. Jose replies that he
risked everything for her and they killed his mother because of it. Therefore
how does Natalia want them to continue with the relationship?
At the hospital, Teresa is told
by the doctor to complete the forms and to give them her husband’s information
because they have to inform him that she has lost the baby. Teresa says that
they are not going to tell her husband, because this is her responsibility and
no one else needs to know.
Regina and Hernan in her office,
she is questioning him about whether what she is hearing about Emi and Alma is
true. Hernan comes back and very straight forward tells her “you should find
out what really goes on in your house” Regina did not like the sound of that,
and promptly asks Hernan to leave.
Ximena in a shady part of town
calls Gerardo, and tells him to please hurry and come get her. Gerardo worries
and asks her to send him her location. She promptly does as she is asked, and
continues walking in the dark, dingy side of town.
Alonso is yelling at Emiliano,
that he needs to shape up and stop causing so many problems. If he ruins his mother’s career or his career
Alonso will allow him to go to jail. Regina walks in on them and tells Alonso she
needs the truth and she needs it now.
Natalia walks into Noemi’s house,
Noemi sees that she needs a little something and hands her a drink, Natalia
takes it and drinks it. Natalia tells
her that everything with Jose is over.
And it hurts more than she thought it would.
Isela at the cabaret tells the
bar tender that she is going to have to ask Mario to get rid of Ximena because
they are at risk of being discovered.
Gerardo finds Ximena at a park
and takes her away, asks her if she’s OK.
Doctor tells Magda that Omar may
have the onset of Alzheimer’s, Magda seems sad about the news. She thanks him
for coming to check on Omar despite the problems they have had lately. He says
it’s his professional duty, and leaves.
Marcia comes over and asks Magda,
“What is going to happen to me?” Magda tells her that her job is to stay by
Omar’s side now that he is sick.
Alonso and Regina discuss the
party that Emi had at the house, Regina is upset, and her morals don’t allow
her to ignore the fact that a woman died at her house. She tells Alonso
“Do you understand
what you did a woman died here, and you sent someone to pick her up and dump
her someplace else. You wanted to hide what happened.”
“If I didn’t do it
Emiliano would be in jail”
“I did it for you,
for your political career” She becomes upset at that insinuation and tells him
not to confuse politics with this. Alonso tells her “are you going to turn us
in?”
Tere wants to leave hospital, but
doctor tells her that they are administering medications to control the
contractions. He feels they should do the procedure before she leaves. Tere
does not want to do it now, she will come back. Doctor hesitates, but
ultimately agrees to let her leave.
Gerardo asks Ximena what happened;
she thinks back to the guy threatening to hurt her and her parents, by publicizing
the photos and opts not to tell Gerardo. She simply can’t tell him. Gerardo
tells her that he doesn’t want secrets. They need to talk.
At San Roman-Barcenas home. Emi tries to tug at Regina’s heart strings
and says he is sorry about what happened.
“I was so confused”
“And to get rid of
the confusion you hired prostitutes”
“I did it for my friends”
Regina tells him that the more
he talks the more disappointed in him she becomes.
“How can you do
something so low?”
“I know it was bad,
how can I fix it please help me I don’t want to go to jail”
He walks toward Regina, but she walks away. (Yes Emi everything is
about what YOU want)
Hernan and Cecilia having sex in
her apartment. They are out of breath, giggly and begin to talk. He tells her
that he met with Regina. Cecilia wants to know about what, so Hernan begins to
tell her that he informed Regina that he is investigating Emiliano’s involvement
in Alma’s death. Her mood changes drastically and she wants to know why he is
doing that. He does not want to continue, but she tells him “tell me, you used
me already anyway”. He responds that he does not use her, he loves her. Hernan
asks her why you care, she replies that she wants to know because Emi is her boss’s
son. Hernan begins to tell her everything he knows, including the fact that
they know the friends that were at the party. He tells her everything. Now she
knows what he knows. (Talk about letting the cat out of the bag)
Alonso continues pressuring Regina about the problem at hand.
“What are you going
to do, your family is on the line” Regina is visibly conflicted and at a
crossroads.
“I guess you want to take care of this the way
you take care of everything, pretend nothing happened”
“How many lives have
to end for you to react?”
“What do you want a
public scandal?” Alonso tries to convince her not to rock the boat.
“It was an accident,
he did not bring drugs, he did not kill anyone it was not his fault and he
needs an opportunity which hinges on you only on you.” (Playing the guilt card)
Hernan, Ignacio, Andres are
discussing the investigation, Andres says they have Patricio Paz if he
testifies that the party was at Emiliano’s house they can open up a case. They
would be able to confirm that Emiliano was involved, Ignacio says yes he was
involved, “I know it because he used to drugs with my daughter. We need to keep
pushing, but tell Gerardo” Andres doesn’t want to tell Gerardo because he might
back-out.
Regina tells Hector, I need to know everything.
He tells her everything; that he was the one that went to get
prostitutes at the request of Emiliano. He recalls when he went to the cabaret.
That there were three friends from school. Regina says
“And you left my son
alone with those women”
“No I guess guarding
at the SUV when I saw that one of the girls fell in the pool, I jumped in to
try and save her, but there was nothing we could do.
Emi walks in. “You are going to tell me everything don’t
lie to me”
Gerardo questions Ximena. “You were there with Nayeli, what happened
there” She gives a clean version of what really is going on. She just says that
he met El Chivo that he asked for money and let her go, but she did not say
anything about being kidnapped by Isela, and the threats she has been making.
As expected Cecilia goes straight to Alonso to
betray Hernan, and spills the beans, Alonso Mauro. She tells them that Hernan is certain that
the security guards are the ones covering everything up. Cecilia says we have to keep Regina from
speaking. Mauro doesn’t think she’ll
speak because it involves her son, but Alonso is not too sure because she
always wants to do everything by the book. Alonso orders Cecilia to tell Hernan
not to talk or she will go to jail. Pressure everyone is the name of the game.
Isela tells Mario that Hernan knows everything, because he got to the
girls before she could send them away, and also Regina knows everything. Mario
says that in that case they are lost.
“She won’t stop until
Regina finds out everything.”
“Isela says you will
have to pick who you are going to support”
Emi asks Regina to please help him...
“Help me, I wanted
to tell you”
Regina is tough with him
“You should have
decided to ask for help before now it’s too late.” Leaves
Ximena asks Tere where she is
going. She is going shopping for
maternity clothes, Ximena offers to go but Tere says no thank you.
Mauro talking to Bryan’s parents
telling them that Bryan will go to jail, if you do what we ask he won’t go to jail
and you will get rewarded. They are conflicted, scared.
Hernan and Ignacio briefing Gerardo about the issue and that Emi will
be implicated too.
“They are killing Mexicans, Gerardo not saying
anything makes us accomplices”
Regina in turmoil over the issue
in her SUV, recalls everything Alonso and Emi have been telling her about not
allowing Emiliano to go to Jail.
Marcia comes into the room to
take Omar to the doctor, but notices that he does not know who she is. So she
takes advantage of the situation makes him sign a check to her name for the
“apartment”
Jose and Natalia talking. He
apologizes. He will work and pay for a
place to live in. Natalia says
They don’t have to live like that; Jose says they will live in her
mother’s apartment in the meantime.
Alonso asks Mario to help convince
Regina not to say anything. Mario will ask Noemi because Regina listens to her,
she will do it because Emi is her only grandson.
At Cecilia’s apartment she tells Hernan that she has problems and he
can help her.
“If you continue investigating,
I will go to jail”
“Why?”
“I was there; I
helped take out Alma’s body from Emi’s house, if you love me you have to prove
it, please”
Natalia says
“We can’t live at your mom’s house; I have money, why
do you have to be so proud?”
“I am the man and I
have to support you. I offer it with all
my love.”
“If you decide to
accept I’ll see you at my mom’s tonight”
Hernan spills beans about Regina asking him to investigate Cecilia.
“Regina asked me to investigate
you and I didn’t.”
“I want you to t tell
me what you are going to do.”
“Are you going accuse
Emiliano on television, even though I told you that would sink me?”
“A girl died from an
overdose, at his house; yes I’m going to do it”
Cecilia says
“I helped to do it; Hernan if you do it you
will ruin me”
“I will not stop
until I see Alonso in jail”
Marcia, continues fooling Omar,
and gets him to tell chino to let Marcia go.
Alonso and Mario continue talking;
“What about the
other girls”
“I cleaned it all up”
Mauro walks in, Emi’s friends won’t testify. There is nothing. Cecilia walks in and says,
” Hernan will
continue investigating”
“You failed me
Cecilia, you are useless”… he yells at her, Mario stops him “stay calm”
At bank, banker has confirmed Omar signed
check almost home free
At hospital, doctor tells Tere who is a
relative to notify, she says “no one I am responsible for myself”
Regina, sees Hernan and
tells him everything is true
He goes and tells Gerardo
everything is true, he rushes to her office
Lorena, hands Fernando evidence of all of the
corruption. She was able to recreate the information and has names of all who
are involved.
Fernando says it’s time to go see Regina.
“She
hates me”
”
with this information she may not hate you as much”
“Be
careful, we have to win her at any cost”
Gerardo
goes to Regina’s office she is sitting at the edge of her desk, she is struggling
with her decision.
“What
are you going to do?”
“I am going to turn my son in to the
authorities.”

Annoying plot point: Is there anyone else who found it strange that when Regina was talking with Héctor she didn't ask him why he would go and hire prostitutes to bring into her home at Emiliano's (a 17 year old) request when she asked him if he let Emiliano alone with those girls??? Alonso did not ask him that question either. Unless they think Emiliano hiring prostitutes is okay, there is no getting around this.

Thanks Sandie. Jarifa, I also find it strange that Hector isn't fired for hiring prostitutes - and for 17 year-old kids! Well now Regina knows and we will see the fallout. Of course, Teresa is up to mischief to bring down Regina - and Gerardo if she cannot have him.
A minor subplot involves Marcia action in getting Omar to sign a check made out to her. Magda wanted her to become his nurse but she has no intention of doing that.

Lynette, I was so happy that Marcia is going for the money. I would hope that she literally takes the money and runs.

Good help is hard to find is all I have to say as to why Hector has not been fired by Alonso. Hector just like Almiron, Chino, Ochoa and all the other Henchman are just doing what their masters order even if it means murder. Regina on the other hand is just not thinking straight. She fired Almiron early on over the Florencia incident. She will probably do same to Hector.

Excellent recap, Sandie! So--Teresa is an expert on Mexican health law. She must have consulted the same sources as Urban (or was it Alfredo?) Anyway, nicely done. I suppose she will spend a few weeks at least pretending to be pregnant if she doesn't die from this surgery. In any event, I doubt if she makes it out of this telenovela alive. Isela is now going to have Ximena killed? Horrible!
Thank you so much Sandie, that was great because I did not get to really see last night's episode until the last 15 minutes of it, starting from around the time Jose tells Natalia that he wants to live at his mom's place and Natalia saying he can provide so much more. Moreover, he's the MAN and wants to be the provider. Guess it's a matter of pride and he, in my opinion, has some morals. He does not want to live off of anyone else's money.

The dumbest thing Hernan did was to tell Cecelia what he has uncovered. He knows he can't trust her. Of all people, he's the one contributing to the excessive number of deaths surrounding these characters. Just because he didn't "investigate" Cecelia doesn't mean she won't come out clean in the wash, either.
The many possible twists and turns this story could take is what holds my interest--although I don't like all the casual "disappearances" when things get rough for the heads of the corruption rings. So, now Ximena is wearing the red target on her back.
I got the impression that Teresa was told by the doctor that he should do a D&C immediately after the miscarriage/stillbirth/death of fetus but she refused and promised to come back the next day. D&C's are relatively simple these days, but delaying even one day could be fatal (we hope). At least she did go back to have her uterus cleaned out the next day. She was stupid to not name a next-of-kin, but as TN Rule #45 says, the evil main characters live on until la ultima etapa. We will have Tere with us for awhile longer. See? She's up and ready to ... buy maternity clothes? I think she's going to find a way to get more money to gamble.

Second, good for Marcia! I hope she survives this, or at least lives long enough to steal enough money to rub it in the faces of Magda and even Natalia. She told them she was being held captive. They know what a violent brute he is. They could at least call the cops, but no. She needs something good out of this and Magda needs to know that it could have been her living in the house and taking care of the guy she for some reason loves (and getting all the money). Buena suerte, Marcia.

I join Kelly in thanking those who have done the excellent recaps for La Candidata. I have missed Monday and Wednesday evenings due to Spanish lessons. I have felt that La Candidata is one of the best novelas I have watched. So thanks for the work by all recappers.

Omar definitely is looking at a nursing home future. I hope that Natalia still has the legal right to this decision, because she might actually follow through on it. Alonso might not unless he feels threatened. In the meantime Marcia has taken enough abuse that I hope she gets away with a nice fat check so she can start over.
As for Ximena, I wonder whether sending her to Europe would keep her safe. She isn't telling her father anything helpful so this will not likely occur to him. And he would have to fight Teresa who needs her whipping girl.
Teresa is playing Russian Roulette with her own life with what she has just decided to do. Good riddance to bad rubbish when she finally dies (prediction, not spoiler). Was she in the same hospital as when she tried the murder/suicide? If so there should be a record of this as well as of her lack of follow-up on psychiatric care.

Sandie, Alzheimer's isn't getting off easy. Omar will suffer with endless frustration when people fail to take him seriously. When he realizes he can't remember things anymore that will frustrate him even more. If the legal system deals with this the same way as in the US either Natalia or Alonso can get a power of attorney over him and take control of his money, property, etc. Mario can have a good laugh at that until his anvil hits.
If he lives long enough, Omar will ultimately suffer the humiliation of being unable to feed or toilet himself. That could completely finish him off.

That's what I want for Omar! Humiliation and dependence, especially on women that he hurt in the past and who have good reason to get even. He should know fear. I hope he gets one quick moment of clarity, long enough to know how Marcia is going to take advantage, then back to his dementia where he can't do anything about it.
Alonso should suffer for all the times he blamed Regina for not taking care of HER son. Her's? And his! Maybe he and Emiliano could share a cell, and Emi could spend the whole time blaming him. That would serve Al right.
