La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo, #68, Mon Aug 14, 2017: Someday a Real Rain Will Come and Wash All This Scum off the Streets

Alt title: Pennies from Heaven

BunMan holds a gun on Estela and says he couldn't wait for her to spring him out of the pokey because someone tried to kill him. "Why aren't you glad to see me? Did you forget our promise to be together forever?" She answers that he broke that promise when he tried to kill her.

Flashback! Estela and BunMan are at the chapel, dressed for a wedding. He warns that the police are getting close to finding El Dorado. She's going to let Ryan think she escaped from El Dorado. BunMan asks what she will say when Ryan asks who El D is; Estela waves this off impatiently, but obviously doesn't have a plan. She tells BunMan to get out of there before Ryan arrives and calls the police.

But BunMan doesn't want to leave. "I might not see you again." Estela dismisses this; she'll go looking for him later. It might be a good idea to wait for a while, though. BunMan asks if she's taking that trip with Ryan after all. Exasperated, she tells BunMan to go so she can call Ryan.

She takes out her phone - whoa, does her wedding gown have pockets? - and calls Ryan. (We shouldn't be able to see Ryan and Laura with their car in Estela's flashback, but we do.) Estela whines that she's escaped from El Dorado. BunMan looks on with growing anger as she sweet-talks Ryan and asks him to pick her up so they can be together. He grabs her, and they struggle briefly before the call is cut off.

BunMan accuses her of planning to go off with Ryan and never see BunMan again. He punches her in the head and knocks her out and throws her into that grave. He says he won't let that guy take away the best of his life again. Then he walks away.

Estela says she would never do that. They're a great pair. Why obsess over the past? She told him she wouldn't leave him in jail. She climbs on top of him and starts kissing him. He pulls her hair and says "we'll never be apart again, patrón." Kisses.

At the hospital, Joe tells Rosario and Laura what's up with Mercy. Ryan arrives and tells Laura he can't stand to lose his mother. Laura says her mother abandoned her, and she's always imagined having a mother who would love her no matter what, the way Mercy loves Ryan. Ryan thanks Laura for knowing what to say to make him feel better.

Post-bunnyhop, Estela tells BunMan she's not with Ryan out of love, but Bunny needs to hide somewhere else. She admits to telling Danilo that she's El Dorado. BunMan worries that Danilo could turn her in. Estela says he has no proof. She will use Danilo up, and then BANG. She thanks BunMan for taking the blame for being El Dorado. He says it's the same kind of sacrifice she made in sending Ryan the knife. "Did you get it back?" he asks. Estela smiles enigmatically.

Rosario leaves the hospital to take care of Paloma. Ryan goes to the cafeteria for hot beverages. Laura asks Joe to help her find out where the profits of a company in Brazil came from.

Danilo brings the incriminating documents to the real El Dorado, anticipating that Estela will use them to send Ryan to jail. He says there will be no harm done, since the money has already passed through Furia. He hopes this satisfies their deal.

Estela proceeds to burn each document, one by one, in front of Danilo. She says one of her people will be keeping an eye on him for a while longer, till she gets out of town with Ryan. But perhaps she'll send Dani a gift to show her appreciation for his work. Dani indicates that he didn't like that last gift she sent him (the shrink's unshrunken head). She assures him that he'll love this one. (And you can take that to the bank!)

Ryan's back, and Genesis is at the hospital now too. Laura asks Joe and Ryan how they're going to prove that Morgana's concert will be used to launder money. They say that Danilo will report falsely high ticket sales. They'll take a picture of all the empty seats. Genesis says Morgana will be playing at the Monarch soon. That place is brand new and unlikely to sell out, especially for Morgana.

Morning. Ryan and Laura are snuggled asleep together in the hospital waiting area when Estela approaches. She sees them and goes off like a burglar alarm. Joe comes along and says Mercy's not any better. Estela tries to pick a fight with Laura. (Joe excuses himself.) Laura doesn't take the bait; she leaves. Estela turns her ire on Ryan. Later, she apologizes to Ryan for being so jealous and crazy. It won't happen again. She proposes that they visit Mercy.

At Furia, Danilo looks through the mail with Horacio. They talk about Sagrado. Danilo says the guy respects him, even though he pretends not to. Horacio doesn't trust him. Danilo hands all of the mail off to Horacio except for one letter with no postmark, return address, or stamp. "You May Already Be a Winner!" No, it's not that. "I'm waiting for my cleaned-up money. And it's not just me! We want it now!" Horacio is nervous. Danilo thinks they can smooth this over.

Mexico only: Kim comes to the house, apologizes to Maria, says something about Mark that I can't make out, and they make up and become good friends again. Leticia is relieved.

Ryan frets at his mother's bedside. Ryan will step outside to talk to the doctor. Estela will keep watch while he's gone. (Ryan you dumbass, she's going to pull the plug!!) She gloats and turns off the machine. (No alarm? Really?) Mercy's eyes snap open. She struggles for air. Ryan comes back with a nurse (who is saying they watch his mother all the time, LOL). Estela hurriedly turns the machine back on. She pretends to be surprised and delighted that Mercy opened her eyes.

The nurse checks the machine: there's a message that says "Add patient weight and press Enter." This should be a clue that the machine was just turned on, but the nurse doesn't seem to notice. (Also - the weight is in kilograms. GONG!) She'll get a doctor to check her out. Ryan encourages his mother.

At the ranch, Luisa tells Laura that the fire department determined that someone deliberately tampered with the fusebox (sorry, I still have fuses, I can't remember what we call the modern equivalent, circuit breaker box?) to start the fire. The police will look into it, but it will take a while. (Thursday night? Friday night? 2018?) Laura worries that a police investigation will lead them to Furia, and innocent people will be blamed. Luisa says it will all come out in trial. "Any idea who might want to do something to you?" Luisa asks. Laura rolls her eyes.

Erasmo and Leti talk about Tadeo. She still thinks it's the end of the world. "Where did we go wrong?" (You made him share his bedroom with a unicorn, silly!) "Maybe that's just how he is," Erasmo replies. She's worried that "other people" will be mean to him. (It would help if his mother wouldn't be one of them.) Erasmo agrees that things might be more complicated for Tadeo, but that's why they have to support him.

The doctor assures Ryan that Mercy's current state - seemingly alert, but unable to move or speak - is normal. (Estela listens intently.) Because Mercy is agitated, they gave her a sedative (her favorite!). Her recovery time will depend on her effort. Estela gropes Ryan supportively as he approaches Mercy; is it my imagination, or is he struggling not to shrug her off?

At the ranch, Laura tells Rosario she's worried to be separated from Paloma again. This time it's not Danilo she's worried about; it's Estela. She thinks maybe Estela had something to do with the fire. She thinks Estela caused Mercy's collapse, too. Rosario doubts that. Laura sympathizes with all the problems Mercy's had lately, like breaking up with Joe... "maybe that had something to do with the baby she lost," Rosario says. "What baby?" Laura asks. And Rosario is like, oh, me and my big mouth. One time Mercy kind of, sort of told her something about losing a baby before she had Ryan. That's all Rosario knows.

Estela tries to comfort Ryan in the hallway. He's going to want to be near his mother all through her recovery. (So you can forget about Brazil, La Dorita!) Plus, he's still investigating his brother's use of Morgana's concerts to launder money. He thinks that if Danilo is blamed, Ryan can negotiate with El Dorado to clear the rest of his family and other associates at Furia. Estela angrily says that El Dorado would never negotiate with Ryan. Ryan says he needs to hear that from El D himself.

Leti, Genesis, and Nina are very excited that Laura's sponsor made a deal with "that channel" (Univision) for La Regia to do a live primetime show. Laura admits that she has a lot on her mind, but she'll bring it on for the fans. Genesis is bummed because some music festival is coming up. Furia used to participate every year because of Walter, but now that he's gone, they don't have anywhere to do the festival. She WAS going to ask Steve if they could do it at the Los Primos ranch, but Steve is gone... maybe forever.

Steve and Jimmy are at their hideout. Jimmy is agitated and maybe still detoxing. He's worried that Sagrado will find them, and he says they could solve the problem by getting rid of the Mexicans. Steve warns that Jimmy could slip again. Jimmy wants to get out of there. Steve says they have to wait a couple more days to make sure Sagrado isn't after them.

Horacio and Danilo meet with Sagrado. Univision cut out the beginning of the scene, and all we're left with is Sagrado saying that Danilo is smarter than he looks. (In the cut portion, Danilo said something about Morgana's concert.)

Days later...

The women are excited about La Regia's upcoming live TV concert. Morgana's show will be on the same night, and Nina thinks the Monarch auditorium will be empty.

At the hospital, Ryan and Joe sit with Mercy. Joe tells her she should recover as long as she keeps her spirits up. Rosario arrives with some flowers from the yard, to thank Mercy for staying with her when she was sick. Rosario gives Mercy a motivational talk. The guys leave to prepare for Morgana's concert. Rosario will sit with Mercy. (Joe kisses Mercy goodbye, which seems unfair since she can't defend herself!)

At Furia, Horacio tells Danilo that he's playing with fire. Dani yawns. Horacio thinks it's a miracle they haven't been killed yet, but Danilo believes that his partnership with Sagrado is scaring everyone off. He has Horacio tell their clients that they needed Morgana's concert to launder all their money.

Night. Morgana prepares for her show. Horacio tells her not to worry when she gets out there if the place is empty. Before she can ask what he means, Dani comes in and says the place is full. Morgana wonders where all of these fans came from. They must be sympathetic because of her fake baby! Dani says no. These people all work for Sagrado or are afraid of him. Sagrado brought all of these people to fill the place up, and he wants to meet Morgana!

Sagrado himself wheels in. Morgana is repulsed. She stiffly holds out her hand for him to shake. He caresses it. Danilo has to pull Sagrado's hand off of hers. The face she's making is priceless. As she walks away, Danilo looks a little worried.

Mexican version only: Ryan and Joe are outside the Monarch auditorium, watching people go in for Morgana's show. Joe says BunMan escaped from prison.

Mexican version only: At Univision, La Regia does one of her songs. Yeah, that's irony for ya; Univision cuts a Univision scene!

Estela is watching La Regia's live show at home, telling someone on the phone that she needs to get some obstacles out of her way.

While singing at the Univision studios, La Regia sees BunMan offstage to the right. Luisa is watching offstage to the left. Now Bunny's gone. Laura sees him on and off throughout the concert, but keeps a brave face and goes on singing. "I am La Regia, tough luck for you!"

At the Monarch, Morgana is summoning a lake troll singing and dancing. Danilo and Sagrado are backstage. Danilo is trying to finalize the deal. Sagrado says there are some details yet to be ironed out. Or perhaps there is only one: he wants Morgana.

Joe and Ryan observe that the Monarch is full. They won't get the evidence they're looking for. As they leave, they see that the DEA has arrived with sirens a-blarin'. (Why the sirens? No one can hear them over Morgana's caterwauling.)

Morgana continues with her peculiar gyrations and wailing. Sagrado drools in her general direction. Danilo is talking about some special effects that are coming up; Sagrado is not paying much attention to him. Morgana finishes her "song," which is a "Material Girl" type of song, and says "okay so how about the effects?" (Smooth, Morgana.)

It seems, however, that Morgana's performance was actually a rain dance, because now it's raining money. Greenbacks flutter from the ceiling like oversized confetti. The crowd cheers. Audience members and musicians alike scramble for the cash while Sagrado, Horacio, and Danilo watch in horror.

The theater manager says the DEA is here. He sends the crowd outside and tells them there will be more money. Sagrado demands to leave; Horacio wheels him out. (Odd, because the wheelchair is motorized.)

Estela calls Dani and gloats. "Did you like your little present?" She's paying back Marcelino Salgado's money, just as Dani asked. Danilo tries to threaten Estela; she says that was just a fraction of the money. She's keeping the rest. She never promised it to him in the first place. She tells Dani to go ahead and tell Ryan that she's El D. If Ryan wouldn't believe Laura (who figured it out first), he certainly won't believe Dani.

Dani says he'll find Estela and tear her in two. Sagrado is his padrino now. Estela laughs and says he's even dumber than ever if he thinks he can hide behind a man in a wheelchair. Byee!

One of the DEA guys approaches Danilo, and Dani begins smarting off to him. Horacio intercedes.

The DEA won't let Joe and Ryan in. Joe and Ryan wonder if this is for real. Even if the DEA is just following up on a tip, it could lead them to Furia. Ryan says maybe Genesis will know about it, but right now she's at Laura's concert because he checked Laura's show on his phone. Joe is surprised to hear that Ryan is still keeping tabs on Laura.

The DEA guy questions Dani. Horacio tells Dani not to answer. They're following up on an anonymous tip that Morgana's show was intended to launder money. They have a warrant/injunction to shut down the show, but no arrest warrant. They can question Danilo, though. Horacio says they can't bother people just because of rumors, but Dani pipes up and invites them to investigate him because his brother Ryan is forcing him to do this.

At Univision, La Regia finishes singing and goes offstage. Genesis congratulates her and leaves. A moment later, Gen's long-lost love, BunMan, shows up in a very convincing looking "STAFF" shirt. (I have an "ENFORCEMENT" shirt. I can't wait to abuse my power!) He pulls out a... folded piece of paper?? He tells Laura this is what she's looking for. Luisa in her patchy jacket chases him off and tells Laura someone's in her dressing room. Luisa leaves. La Regia unfolds the paper. What's inside? I hope it's full of glitter!

Next time: No no! Not in the face!!

Sooo...

Will Sagrado be Morgana's anvil? She was so thoroughly grossed out by him.

I noticed a six-minute commercial break right around 9:40.

Six minutes! A new record!

I would be grossed out with those looks he was giving Morgana too...dirty old man! No offense to men who admire a woman's looks, but there is a good way and a nasty to way to look at a woman. Saggy was just nasty.

Estela is vicious...I hate her more and more...and every time she says "te juro" I just want to throw something at her...but I don't because she's not worth buying a new TV.

Yes, too many commercials and don't you think they're wasting too much time on the concerts?

YES Sagrado was gross.

Too much time on the concerts, yes, and in fact there was a little more of La Regia's in the Mexican version. Ironically, the concert takes place at Univision, so Univision cut a Univision scene... ugh I'm dizzy.

I did watch the Mexican version first, but the sound was a bit low and I didn't get much from those scenes. I'm pretty sure there's nothing very important, but I do wish I'd heard what Kim said about Mark. Like, is he dying of syphilis now? I think MAYBE Kim said that she had a chance to have sex with Mark but didn't because she knew he was diseased thanks to Maria.

Recap is done, btw...

Fabulous Julie.

While your humor always makes me smile "Someday a Real Rain Will Come and Wash All This Scum off the StreetsSomeday a Real Rain Will Come and Wash All This Scum off the Streets", sometimes, I break out in full fledged laughter. "Mercy is agitated, they gave her a sedative (her favorite!)" was only one example.

Estela is a bit too angry and well, far too emotional on some topics. She doesn't have the thick skin that would be crucial to someone of El Dorado's stature. She is too wound up with Ryan to the point of obsession. A true "patron" would be able to keep their emotional distance. Her hatred of Mercy is clouding her judgment, being reckless where she should be cautious. In "real" life the nurse would have noticed things were amiss (as you noted). Trying to pull the plug was risky business at its worst.

Rgv Chick, I have a feeling that there is a lot more coming that is going to make you want to "punish" your TV! :) Things are really starting to heat up.

I enjoyed the flashback scene of seeing how Estela ended up in the grave. Makes perfect sense as Asdrubal is as obsessed with Estela as she is with Ryan.

I am a bit annoyed Ryan seems to be wandering around aimlessly while Estela and Mercy are in imminent danger. Estela has been doing all the critical thinking and it is she who is in harm's way.

I can't wait to find out what the note said!

Jail for Dan is fine. I don't want him dead. I am hoping he survives this.

"Laura says her mother abandoned her, and she's always imagined having a mother who would love her no matter what, like Mercy loves Ryan". One of the many reasons why Laura is the ultimate heroine to me.

Let me jump right up on the Sagrado is odious bandwagon. I was expecting him to drool at any moment. Gross. Simply gross.

"Erasmo and Leti talk about Tadeo. She still thinks it's the end of the world
Kim". Sigh...'nuff said. Julie, who is Kim? Maria's blonde "friend"??

Julie, this was fantastic. You are the best. Thank you!

Diana

Good Morning!

Diana, Kim is Maria's friend from school who wanted nothing to do with her when she found out Maria was not a gringa. Another turn around...

ITA, the flashback cleared up some ambiguity...in a way AssBun is also a victim of the poisonous snake.

Laters...

Thanks Rgv Chick! I thought it might be because I didn't think Maria had any other "friends". Sigh.

I have no doubt Estela will kiss Asdrubal as soon as she thinks she has Ryan back in her clutches. But for now, he is willing to do all her dirty work so why not keep him around? Blech.

Diana

Thank You Jewels. Your recap is so much better than the 'Bird on a Wire' show.

Note to Letme: At least Tad will (hopeofully) not be bringing unnecessary unwanted children into the world, you bimbo.

Given the scant amount of hide available on a turtle, mostly legs and neck I can only imagine how many it takes to make a pair of boots, so Sagrado is perfect for Morgana. Shake it Baby.

Estela is really showing her true colors. I am glad she was not able to kill Merc. I would prefer Merc recover enough to be able to fully understand and enjoy her demise at the hands of Estela, and maybe, maybe blurt out one of her many deep dark secrets as Estela kills her. Bad girl, bad, now sit. No,sit HERE. :-)

Reading the recap, I feel like I watched a show, Watching the show I feel like I watched filler.

"I am a bit annoyed Ryan seems to be wandering around aimlessly while Estela and Mercy are in imminent danger. Estela has been doing all the critical thinking and it is she who is in harm's way."

Of course, I meant to say Laura, not Estela. Estela is in no danger at the moment (unfortunately)! Sigh.

Diana

"Jail for Dan is fine. I don't want him dead" Hrmpf

I want one of those bulldozer graves for them all with Paloma and the horse driving the bulldozer.

Kirby: Did Abortion Barbie just try to whack Mommy Cabrera ?

Parakeets?? Beautiful Kirby!

Ahhh, a mass grave Kirby? I might infer you have had it with most of our unloveable characters? :)

Steve, Estela tried to Kill Mercy, not Morgana.

Diana

Thanks, everyone!

Diana: "Estela is a bit too angry and well, far too emotional on some topics. She doesn't have the thick skin that would be crucial to someone of El Dorado's stature." You nailed it, Diana. I don't think this woman could mastermind a Sunday picnic... okay, she does have her moments of cold brilliance (like the rain of cash). But when Mercy (and maybe Ryan, still not sure what her deal is with him) is involved, she loses her marbles.

LetMe needs a serious reality check with all her whining about Tadeo. He is not in jail, on drugs, in a gang, etc etc etc. He is a good kid and has been respectful to her. I can totally see why Erasmo had to dump LetMe because she is absolutely immune to reality except when it physically punches her in the head. When he told her that Tadeo would need their support (in response to her concern that "some people" might not accept him), I felt again that LetMe is destined to become one of this story's cautionary tales: she seems not to be teachable.

I just realized that this is my last recap for Season 1 of Doble Vida. I should say some special words or something... I'll try to do that this afternoon. (I kinda missed that for VEA. I wrote a great thing and then Blogger ate it and I didn't have time to redo it. I will be more careful this time.)

OMGoodness, I jinxed myself. I mention a snake and look what happens ->->->->->

I don't like spiders and snakes
And I'll do what it takes..
To KILL 'em!!!

especially when they attack roosting hens!

Kirby, cute little parakeets! Thanks for a lift to my otherwise traumatic start to the day :-)

RVG Chick: Estela is trying to be the female version of Aurelio Casilas.

Aww, snake has a booboo.
(I like spiders and snakes. But not centipedes. *shudder*)

Thank you so much, Julie! Please take a bow because you were amazing here as you've been during Doble Vida's whole run. I thank once again for your constant help, especially during my two week absence, and your funny recaps that made some of the drearier episodes a lot more fun. Hope to see you on another patio but for now to the final week of this trainwreck!

The flashback made things more confusing for me as it seemed that Asdrubal betrayed Estela and left her for dead but a roll in the sack brings him back...huh? Unless that note is part of his master plan to blow the Dorado persona off the water.

I was surprised that an alarm didn't go off also. What kind of hospital is this? Oh yeah the one where Talisman went into Paloma's room unnoticed and threatened her life as well.

Glad Laura did give into Estela's provocations and just told her to stick before leaving.

The concerts are a big much, especially in the final week, but I've always like the organic way they incorporated music into this thing. It's like a small musical every other episode and Ariadne does it well.

I agree, Alfredo, it was weird for BunMan to leave Estela in the grave. He didn't try to bury her or anything, and I doubt he thought she was dead just from a punch to the head, but if he thinks Estela's good with him now then he hasn't been paying attention. Estela REALLY holds a grudge!

Alfredo, I think neverlettinggoofthebun reached his limit, watching Estela waiting for Ryan in the wedding garb. If I am remembering the scene correctly, he seemed beside himself after he hit her (we weren't privy at the time as to what occurred). He probably realized full well how livid she would be. As Julie noted, Este doesn't seem like a really forgiving kind of gal.

That said, it's likely he means nothing at all to Estela. I'm sure she is keeping him around as her muscle as she must hide in plain sight, leaving her nefarious orders to others to carry out.

Diana

Julie, thank you for your incredible recaps.

You have recapped shows I haven't been able to watch but refreshing my memory here as to what you create, I have a renewed appreciation and admiration for your work.

I hope Season 2 isn't too long in coming as I eagerly await your next recap.

Diana

Thanks, Diana!
Maybe BunMan DOES realize that Estela doesn't care about him. I'm not sure last night's errand at the concert was authorized by Estela.

You know, last night's episode did feel like a lot of filler. Not just because of the concerts, but because there are so many anvils teetering that it's difficult to wait for them to drop.

Badbungonerogue?

It's possible. I am dying of curiosity as to what that letter says!

Diana

RGV:
How many of those do you think it would take to make a little pair of boots for Palomita. Normally only the "shoe", if you will, part is made of the exotic, then the upper is cowhide or something. NOTE: cows can't walk around without hide either....just sayin...

Kirby, I would say 3 to make Palomita some nice boots. I was looking at it a while ago and when the sun hits it, it actually has very pretty colors.

Do you think Palomita would like snakeskin boots?? (I would)

I was just thinking how neat it would have been if Blake's (and Jimmy's) tattoo had been of a butterfly.

OK, it would be more funny than neat. But I'm kind of annoyed that the butterfly thing seems to have been a red herring. (Mercy got annoyed once when Paloma mentioned butterflies, as if Mercy had once known a butterfly enthusiast who disgusted her.)

Thanks, Julie. Good to the last drop. It’s been fun getting your recaps. My faves:

We shouldn't be able to see Ryan and Laura with their car in Estela's flashback, but we do. - This made me smile.

The police will look into it, but it will take a while. (Thursday night? Friday night? 2018?) - lol

He punches her in the head and knocks her out

I know I shouldn’t have, but I got a kick out of BunMan punching that lying, phony Estella in the face in that flashback. But no matter how much he distrusts her, he’s stuck on her. I’m betting he’s working with Estella to set up Laura. Laura, get Chava in on this.

I gave Ryan too much credit before. What a doofus to leave his sick mom alone in the room with Estella. I don’t think he wants Estella, but he sure trusts her. Dummy.

Love Estella sticking it to Danilo with the cash confetti. Squee!

Can’t stand Danilo, but nice that he was protective of Morgana when El Sagrada clung to her arm way too long.

Hmmm, so Ryan’s missing sibling is the oldest of Mercy’s two kids. I don’t think we ever got a clue on how far apart in age the two kids are, but I’m thinking it’s just a year or two.

I actually like Laura's concerts. In the beginning, I thought there'd be a lot more music plus dancing in Doble Vida. There's been really no dancing, if you count out Morgana's gyrating.

Thanks, Julie. I was not able to see last night's episode, so I really appreciated your retelling of all the crazy. If what goes around comes around...well, some people are surely getting anviled.

I am glad that you are getting your retirement speech ready for season one because Kirby and I will be shopping for that gold watch for you.

Looks like something less benevolent than the sun hit THAT one. !
Later. Back to undoing the havoc and destruction that salt water does and lining up gaskets and torquing down stainless bolts.

Niecie, it was nice of Danilo to peel Sagrado's hand off of Morgana's, but how much farther will he go to protect her? And will he even have a chance to? He has disappointed a lot of people who have guns. And he really, really, REALLY needs Sagrado's protection - for whatever it's worth. Those are "rare turtle" boots, not Ninja Turtle boots. He might have a very big and serious decision to make about Morgana. Let's just see if he will go one-tenth as far to protect Morgana as he would Paloma.

(I just searched for "turtleskin" and was alarmed to get so many hits, until I realized that TurtleSkin is a brand name. Yikes!)

I agree that this is the first clear statement we've had about the lost baby's age relative to Ryan's. It reinforces BunMan as the likely party, who looks to be the right age, and it rules out Danilo. But I find it hard to believe that Estela would hate Mercy so much if BunMan had been the lost/abandoned/stolen child. We are still missing a big chunk of info, I think.

And Milton did refer to Pedro Carrillo's "children," so there may be another - though it's strange that Estela and BunMan haven't mentioned anyone else. Maybe s/he's dead. Ooh! Remember, I think Mercy told Joe that the baby had been sickly.

I agree, Niecie, there's been no dancing. Dancing usually involves footwork. Morgana is more of a wiggler. At any rate, footwork would be wasted on Sagrado.

Oooh! A gold watch! I would have been satisfied with a boxful of New Improved Hopeos ("now with less lead!"). We have a half-full bag of "Tasteeos" in the break room. It's been there for a couple of years. I'm afraid to look inside.

"There's been really no dancing, if you count out Morgana's gyrating" Ha Niecie!

I was trying to think of a clever comeback but Julie's "Morgana is more of a wiggler" was better than anything I could have come up with.

I thought Danilo looked a bit concerned when he removed Sagrado's hand. I am hoping he will defend Morgana as fervently as he did Paloma. So far, he's done little but disappoint. I've always felt that if he does die, I hope he does it saving someone else.

I do think there might be a third child. There's something about Nina...

Glad to hear from you Susanlynn. We've been missing your comments.

Diana

Diana, a third child for Mercy? I've been wondering about Pedro C's other children...

Kirby, lots o' luck with the salt water issues.

" if you count out Morgana's gyrating." It looks to me like the Honey Bee's 'Waggle Dance' they use to tell the hive where food is. But I couldn't decode it. She has the waggle to dance ratios all wrong. :-(

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waggle_dance

Yeah RGV Salt Water is a cousin to battery acid. And our Gulf is the most salty in the world. A ship will sit higher the saltier the water is (more salt=heavier water). If you look on the hull of ocean going freighters they have a mark for where the fully loaded water line should be for different oceans of the world. The Gulf of Mexico is at or near the bottom. IE ship floats higher because the water is so salty.

there will not be a test...............just remember it.

Dr. Salty

Julie, this is a Good recap and funny.
I'm at work and I'm laughing out loud.
Morgana has no talent. At all. And Why
What is she singing about? I would not
Buy her cds. She seemed weirded out by
The old guy in the motorizedwheelmobil
I'm weirded out by her singing and All
The girationing of herlower levels.

Lol, the wheelchair was motorized and
He pushed it. Those are hard to push
If the release isn't punched in So it
Can be manually operated. If he was to
Run into somebody they'd be stabbed by
Those pointy turtle boots.

I'm lookin forward to ed's downfall.I
Can't stand that woman. Laura is ryans wife and she waltzes her lying fake kidnappin butt in there gettin in laura's face, so happy she didnt take
The bait. Estela is all about herself.
She's determind to one up Laura in front of ryan, glad to see he's not takin the bat either.I hope bunnyhoney
Fixin to out her ass. I won't end this
With ass. I hope we're about to find out who the baby is. That baby would be older than ryan.Three more nights &
We're done with this season?

OK, I learned something new today - "waggle dance". Thank you Kirby!

Rgv Chick, I do think Estela is Pedro's but that Mercy is not her mother. I think bunneedstobecut is Mercy's - by Walter, making him Ryan's full blooded brother. That would eliminate incest by Ryan, Estela and bunbun.

The neckace(s) have confused me. The necklace reminds me of the famous "ring", trying to find its way back to its owner. I do think there might be another child. Nina has crossed my mind but there seems to be no rhyme or reason for that. I tend to agree that it might be someone we don't know who's passed.

Diana

Diana, if I'm not mistake, Nina has a sickly sister. (I think she's sickly. I don't remember for sure.)

I don't suppose Chula (Estela's goonette) is a contender for lost baby or extra Carrillo?

Julie, I don't remember Nina's sister being sickly, just younger. Hmmm, I hadn't considered it, but Chula just might be another contender for Carrillo sibling. Good thinking, 99!

Dr. Salty, thank you so much for all the info you give us on a variety of things...and I'm really glad we don't get quizzed!

I'll save my retirement speech for this weekend. I'm rushed now...

I forgot about Nina's sister Julie. Rats.

I think anything is possible, but Chula seems a bit of a stretch. But don't pay any attention to me, I'm wrong 99% of the time...:)

Diana

Julie this is a funny recap. You brought the funny out. Thank you much.

Morgana has no talent. Her hips are lot more Entertaining than her singing. No
Talent at all. And her hips are clearly the only thing sagrado was lookin at. "I want morgana". Isn't he
Numb from the waist down? She won't like that at all. What was funny was
When you said that he was being pushed
Out in his motorizedmobil chair. In his pointy Turttle boots. Those chairs are hard to push when the manual thingy is not on.

I can't stand ed/estela.She gets outta bed with honeybunny and brings her lying fake kidnappin ass to the
Hospital acting like the one cheated on.So glad Laura didn't take the bait.
I don't think she loves Ryan at all.
She'll get him away from there and kill him cuz she Knows he don't want her ass Anymore. I hope whatever hunnybunny gave laura she can use to stop her in her tracks. I was at work laughin out loud. Just what I needed.

Thank you Julie

I am surprised no one brought up Esteala's wedding muumuu! There is no way she would have worn that thing to her wedding! Maybe Badbun bought it at a Halloween store, it was awful.

Julie and others, your recaps are amazing! I enjoy the details very much. Thank you!

L Linda

Being right sometimes (1%) beats always wrong. You just work your percentages now. :-)

Yeah NiNa I hate her too. Is there such a thing as a Black Widower.? I might just do her.......in.

I think that Peanut Butter and Jelly Burito is making me crazy.

NiNa this Estela is identical to the part she played in Despertar Contigo. Sexy, lying conniving cheating hoe who had every man drooling over her and at her beck and call.

I haven't a clue whether she just likes this type character, or is just typecast as such or what. I haven't seen her in anything else.

Well she plays it well. Shes something like Laura carmine. They play those nasty parts well. They shouldn't let those producers typecast them to Much.
They might get stuck there. I'd love to see carmine play a good person more
Than a minute like she did on vea.shes
Good at playing a good guy. I'd like to see more of her in those parts. But
Her and this lady got bitch down good.

No, Diana, I agree Chula is a stretch. I was just trying to think of someone that we don't know much about. It will be weird if it's someone we don't know - unless that person is interesting enough to help round out Season 2. I doubt that's Chula!

Luisa, maybe? Oh btw I have a bunch of patches from my Girl Scout days. Do you think she'd like them for her jacket?

Nina, we don't know that Sagrado is numb from the waist down! It could just be that his legs are no good. Anyway, it might be enough for him to "own" a woman like Morgana. (He doesn't realize that Kmart would have put her on clearance.)

Linda, I agree about Estela's wedding gown. It looked like something that someone would have given as a joke gift for her bachelorette party.

Sadly, it appears that playing a nice woman in a TN gets you bonked on the head (Laura Carmine in VEA). On the bright side, playing a nasty woman in a TN can get you bonked on the head too. Come to think of it, there is way too much noggin-bonking in TNs these days.

Estela might be wearing some of Ana Leticia's weird rings from TVA.

The title was a reference to Taxi Driver. The "rain" of freshly laundered money reminded me of the quote.

I gotta go to bed... Six Flags tomorrow... it will be a long day.

Wild speculation: Joe is Pedro Carrillo's first son. Pedro was mad at Walter, and told Joe to seduce Mercy, just as Pedro later told Estela to seduce Ryan. Joe and Estela hadn't seen each other in years until they met up again just recently, which was why their first conversations didn't sound like what you'd expect of a convo between siblings.

Good night!
