Mi marido tiene familia Friday 10/13/17 Capítulo 38 & Capítulo 39

Capítulo 38: Linda and Bruno MIA--OR--Grifters in Training

At Ana's after her tiff with Julieta, Linda leaves to call Bruno. She cannot stand her family. She has to get out of there. Bruno gets Cornelio to drive him over. Cornelio is worried Bruno is falling in love with Linda.

Eugenio wonders why Tulio always has an excuse to not get together with the family on holidays. Tulio answers because things never change. Tulio gets into it with Audifaz again.

Blanca is sorry for opening her mouth about the pregnancy and apologizes. Robert and Julieta are willing to forget it all. Blanca wants to to help prepare for the baby's arrival. Julieta and Robert insist that they will take care of their own baby issues but in the end the family thinks that Julieta and Robert are selfish not wanting to include them in their baby decisions. Julieta chalks it up to them just thinking differently. Imelda has to remind them the baby is also a part of them; he carries their genes. Ana with a drink in her hand watches the whole discussion from afar.

Xavi runs into Linda who is leaving her apartment with a bag packed. She cannot talk. She is in a rush. A car is waiting. She get in. It leaves.

Audifaz's crisis continues at Ana's as he tells Eugenio that he hasn't done anything important in his life or has provided for his family as he should have.

The pressure is on from Imelda and Blanca for Julieta and Roberto to get married. Julieta says it will be in a month. Robert is going to plan it with her. Of course, Imelda, Blanca and the whole female contingent of the family want to be involved. Julieta wants a simple wedding but the women of the family do not agree. They tell Roberto to go with his dad. Julieta assures Robert that she will be okay with his female relatives. It looks like Robert will have no input. Eugenio thinks that Robert should let the women plan it. Robert is aggravated with the women taking control. Eugenio tells him you have to find ways to work around them. Eugenio blames Ana for getting everybody together like this. It wasn't too smart but that is how Ana is never thinking about the consequences. He is sure she does not do it intentionally. (He may be sure but I am not) Eugenio also gives Robert a heads-up on how Ana became embittered after not being able to have a child. On top of it all she is envious.

Where is Linda? The family wonders what happened to her. They keep getting more and more worked up. If only they knew. She is with Bruno having a fine old time. She wants to go to infinity and beyond (with Buzz Light Year?). She does not want to go home. She is fed up with her family. She wants to go to the beach. Where is Bruno? Catalina wants to know but has no idea.

After they get home, Julieta and Robert talk about the family. They wanted the wedding in two weeks while Julieta wanted a month. They both feel like they are getting farther and farther away from what they planned their life to be. Julieta reiterates that when she decided to stay there with his family, she told him she would be with him no matter what. She will not allow the situation to affect her. Julieta decides that it is their wedding, their child, and they will continue to be who they are. Robert agrees.

Eugenio stands on the street waiting for Linda to come home. Marisol goes to bring him back in. It turns out that Linda has snuck out to parties before. Daniela tells her parents that Linda didn't think that they would care if she went. Of course they do! Daniela gives Blanca, Eugenio and Imelda an earful as she reminds them that what happened at Ana's is like what has happened to them their whole lives. Before it was the pain of a lost Juan Pablo and today, at Ana's, all they talked about were Julieta, Juan Pablo and the baby. By scolding Linda to defend Julieta Blanca made Julieta more important than any of her own children. Daniela is out of there.

The next morning, Bruno wakes up Linda sleeping in a tent on the beach. They think about their families. Linda has gone out at night before but nobody at home cares. She feels very alone. Bruno and Linda have a fun time in the water and on the beach. Linda tells Bruno they are now novios as they drive around, kiss, and eat lunch and then run away without paying. Some security guards chase them but don't catch them. Later, Linda lets it all out with Bruno. She tells him what her life has been like with her mother constantly crying for Juan Pablo, her granny praying for Juan Pablo and her father simply not talking. Linda felt like a package that was carried here and there. Bruno thinks she must have imagined that. Linda says no, she lived it. Bruno now understands her and why she did what she did with those guys. Linda explains that she wanted to get their attention, have them buy her things and to feel loved. Bruno has something to tell her but then just kisses her hand.

The next morning at the bakery, Blanca is crying again and blaming herself for Linda's disappearance as well as her daughters feeling unloved. Eugenio comments on Linda always doing what she wants.

Catalina blames Diana for poisoning her son against her. Diana should be waiting on him. Hugo explains he agreed to help around the house while he is getting a job. Hugo says he feels pretty useless. Diana blames Catalina for driving off Bruno. Hugo tells Catalina that she won't let him breathe.

Robert suggests that they go see a colleague of his for their first baby doctor's appointment.

Xavi informs Marisol he saw Linda leave in a car but he doesn't know whose. Marisol informs the family what Xavi saw. Blanca wants to call the police. Marisol reminds her that Linda left of her own volition.

Blanca comes to tell Robert and Julieta the latest about Linda. As she is commenting on what a mess their place is, Blanca trips and falls backwards on the floor. She is in pain. She blames Julieta for the disorganization in her apartment so she is responsible for her tripping and falling. Julieta apologizes. It was an accident. Robert insists on taking Blanca to the hospital. Julieta tells Luz she has had it with Blanca.

Cornelio is not happy that Bruno and Linda have ended up at the beach. He tells Bruno that if he has ended up liking Linda, Cornelio will take his own revenge. Bruno insists he does not like Linda.

On the way back from the hospital with Robert, Julieta is still moaning about Julieta. She thinks that Julieta might have enjoyed her fall just a bit. Robert tells her not to go there. Robert had X-rays done. Blanca has no fractures. She is just suffering from sore muscles. She asks him not to tell Eugenio. Blanca is moaning and wailing from her "pain". Blanca concludes that Juan Pablo must love her because he took her to be treated at the hospital.

Marisol stops by to see Julieta for help in getting her a job selling items by catalogue. Marisol would like to get her own place with Frida. Julieta tells her it is never too late to start again. She is capable and she can do it. Marisol is not her past.

Eugenio is going crazy threatening to cut off all of Linda's hair so she will be ashamed when she goes out. He is stalking around the living room with scissors in his hand clicking them incessantly. Blanca sees that tactic as useless. Blanca is still "audibly" suffering from pain. Eugenio wants to know where the pain came from. Blanca blames it all on worrying about Linda. Eugenio sees it as Linda having no respect for them or or sense of responsibility.

Capítulo 39: Linda Eats Crow

Robert talks to David who would like to be invisible so nobody could see him.

Robert finally tells Eugenio what happened to the ever wailing Blanca with the understanding he does not tell her that he knows.

At the beach, Linda has decided the time has come to go home. As she and Bruno sit and talk, the security guards have spotted them yet again and they head off running.

Julieta shows up at the hospital and Robert introduces David to Julieta. He says he is sad because his mom hasn't come back. They smile at each other.

Robert and Julieta go to Julieta's first doctor's appointment for the baby. They do a video call so that Blanca and Imelda can share in the ultrasound. Julieta and Robert are overjoyed to hear the baby's heart beats. It is too early to know the sex of the baby.

Linda has returned with her "novio". She runs into Eugenio on the street outside the apartment building who has his scissors ready to cut her hair. He grabs her and her hair. She struggles to get away from him. One of the workers records the happenings on her phone. That distracts Eugenio for just a second. Linda makes a break for it and runs down the street. Eugenio is running chasing her down the street threatening Linda with making her bald. Marisol catches up to him and tries to calm him down reminding him that Linda is of age and can do what she wants. Eugenio is upset that she slept outside of her home with a man. As far as he is concerned, as long as she lives under his roof, it is by his rules. Marisol gets him to come home. Blanca and Imelda agree it is not right what Linda did. Eugenio wants order and discipline. Imelda can only think of what the neighbors thought. Blanca is sick of Eugenio scolding her like a child or ignoring her.

Benjamin shows up at Daniela's restaurant. She is reluctant to greet him as he hugs her. Gabriel puts on a chef's coat and hat and spies on them. They sit and talk. Benjamín says her eyes are no longer sad. She tells him about Juan Pablo's return. She wants to know why he never called. He thought she wasn't interested. She thought he wasn't interested. They are both sorry. The truth comes out. The afternoon he was going to tell her he liked her, she wasn't talking so he cried on her best friend's shoulder nd the rest is history. After Benjamín leaves, Daniela has a good cry in the bathroom and Gabriel listens outside the door.. He tells her that he is worried about her. She doesn't have to be the tough one all the time. He knows she is sad about the guy who is marrying somebody else. Daniela starts crying again.

Bruno has made it home. Catalina is laying the guilt trip on Bruno telling him the same old story about his father having left them. Bruno is sick of hearing the same old same old. Doesn't his mother want something different in her life? Does she really want to repeat the same chapter over and over?

Linda calls Bruno. Her dad threw her out of the house.

Marisol is talking with Xavi and is happy having a job selling catalog items. She offers to sell Xavi's cd's at the same time. He tells her he does not know what he would do without her.

Linda tries to find some help from her aunts Amalia and Belén. They both basically tell her that she asked for it. There is no sympathy from Amalia but Belén does offer her a place to stay with them. Linda leaves in a huff tired of everybody judging her. Belén is concerned about where Linda will go. Amalia says she can go with her little Bruno.

Robert gives David a pep talk about dealing with scars and peoples' reactions to him when they see his. The message is for him and Max: you are not your scars. Robert and David have a good hug.

Julieta gives Marisol more info on what she has to do on her new job and how she will be earning money with every item she sells from the catalogue. They talk about motherhood and how Julieta feels like she is no longer afraid and is ready to have her baby.

Marisol reminisces about her earlier good days with Ignacio. She runs into Ignacio near the park and he wants to talk. Marisol is not interested. He offers her money for Frida. Marisol won't take it and reminds him how "convenient" it was for him to remember he has a daughter when he just happened to run into her.

Audifaz is all worried about what Aristóteles' friend will think of him. Aristóteles walks in with David. They have a great meal together.

Xavi and Frida dance together on the roof. Marisol comes to talk to Frida about her dad and to tell her they are getting divorced. Frida is upset and cries. Marisol takes off her wedding band and buries it in a potted plant. (She should have sold it)

Julieta tells Luz how happy she is being pregnant.

Somebody is hiding and watching Robert leave the apartment building. Next, somebody is knocking at Julieta's door asking for help. On her knees, Linda begs for Julieta to let her stay with her and Robert. Linda uses the "they are family excuse" to try to force Julieta to help her. According to Lind, it was all Julieta's fault anyway. Linda runs past Julieta to the guest room and installs herself there.

Blanca is playing up her accident for all of the sympathy she can get.She is still wailing and moaning. Robert tells her to get up and move so she will feel better. Julieta and Roberto tell Blanca that Linda is staying with them but she cannot tell anyone. Robert assure Blanca that Linda will be home today.

Julieta walks in on Linda rubbing her expensive face cream on her legs. Julieta puts an end to that. Linda is hungry. Julieta has already eaten out with Robert: no leftovers for Linda. If there is nothing in the refrigerator, there is nothing. Also, if Linda is going to stay she will have to help clean. She just cannot stay for free. Linda is shocked. Linda does not know how to clean! Julieta does not see that as a problem but if Linda has a problem with that, she can always go back home across the hall . . . where her father is. . .

Loving slapstick as I do, Blanca's "fall" was a keeper.

More later.

Jarifa: The Slap-a-Thon increasing ?

Ahhh Jarifa, this was incredible. You capture every nuance and emotion perfectly and paint a grand picture.

“ever wailing Blanca” and “Marisol takes off her wedding band and buries it in a potted plant. (She should have sold it)” were among my favorite observations.

Thus far, the focus has been on the devastating pain of Robert, Blanca and Eugenio - which is as it should be. But what I’ve failed to be fully aware of was the devastation of the other casualties of the abduction. Linda’s “… tells him what her life has been like with her mother constantly crying for Juan Pablo, her granny praying for Juan Pablo and her father simply not talking” helped to explain her aloof coldness Dani’s “Before it was the pain of a lost Juan Pablo and today, at Ana's, all they talked about were Julieta, Juan Pablo and the baby” made me question if things will ever be resolved.? Sadness that permeated everyone’s life and existence day in and day out and worse, still is.

“Blanca concludes that Juan Pablo must love her because he took her to be treated at the hospital”. If he uttered those words, would it ever be enough? How can you recapture what 24 years of loss took away?

More pain is revealed “Robert talks to David who would like to be invisible so nobody could see him” – heartbreaking. But I loved "Dinner at Audi's". What luck that they actually had food in the house to feed the child!

"It looks like Robert will have no input" - absolutely true!

He is sure she does not do it intentionally. (He may be sure but I am not)". Neither am I amiga. Every night I wonder if something will happen to make me detest Ana less. Yet, as more emotional devastation is laid at our feet, the more my heart hardens.

Thank you for this wonderful recap. Truly appreciated!

Diana

While I felt Dani's pain at her missed opportunity at love, I really enjoyed Gabi's skulking around in the chef's coat and hat!

I'm hoping this relationship turns the corner. I am really looking forward to seeing them together. Ditto for Marisol and Xavi. I can't say how much I'm enjoying Jessica here. Well I'm enjoying everyone so much so...

Diana

Thanks, Diana. It seems like Daniela and Linda were raised in "the vail of tears." Somehow their situation made me think of that expression.

Jarifa, thank you for the recap! Of yet another two-hour episode! And on a Friday night!

Linda and Bruno = Grifters Well said! I was thoroughly disgusted with them when they ran from the restaurant and did not pay their tab.

Julieta = My Big Fat Córsega Wedding

Blanca = Channeling Willie Nelson (with that bandana around her head)

ITA – Marisol should have sold the rings. But then, she also could have taken that money Icknacio/Begonia gave her and given it to charity instead of tearing it up and throwing it on the street. That woman has no money sen$e, at all.

I loved Juls telling Linda “you stay, you pay”!

Diana - good point about how JuanP's abduction affected everyone in the family, over the decades!

Question for the Patio Peeps:

Do we know the birth order of the Córsega children?
We know Dani was born after Robert.
Is Robert the oldest/firstborn?
I’m trying to figure out if Marisol or Linda were born before or after JuanP.

Doris:

- Marisol: 39 or 40 years old
- Juan Pablo: 38
- Daniela: 34
- Linda: in her twenties (the unexpected)

I´m pretty sure Marisol is the eldest, because she was very conscious about her little brother, remembered and missed him.

Excellent recap of 2 great episodes, Jarifa! I too love your MIA-Grifters title. And thank you, tquir, for clearing up the ages and birth order of the Cosega children. Someone in the novela, I don't remember who, referred to Bruno as Cyrano. Hilarious! Yes, that is a substantial nose. Eugenio is right that Linda has no respect for them or sense of responsibility. In fact, she is incredibly thoughtless. ITA that Marisol should have sold that ring. After all, it is hers.

"Julieta = My Big Fat Córsega Wedding" and "Blanca = Channeling Willie Nelson (with that bandana around her head)" were hysterical doris.

Diana

Awesome Jarifa!!!

One minute Gabi is telling Dani to call him jefe and the next to spill her heart out. He can't have it both ways. I did enjoy his quick wink to her before chiding her for being a minute late.

Time is the only thing that will heal the family. Right now there is still the feeling that JP will leave again but the longer he stays the more the focus will shift away.

Linda and Bruno are a mess. I still don't like either, even knowing that their childhood wasn't easy. Hopefully Linda doing some real labor will teach her a thing or two.

Did Hugo get the job at the vet? I'm liking him more and more. He's got a good personality and attitude right now.

I feel like Julie and Rob are giving up too much to please the family. I fear they will regret not getting the wedding they want.

Did anyone catch the soft expression Tulio gave the children when they were talking on the couch about how strange the house was? Am I crazy to think Tulio could be convinced to help Rob's foundation of the orphanage?

tquir - Thank you for the birth order!

Carvivle - I caught that look Tuli had, when Ari and David were on the couch. It seemed meaningful. The cameras of telenovelaland rarely waste shots or film footage.

Hopefully Hugo will get and keep a job, any job, start ignoring his mother ToxicCatDQ, and learn to stand on his own two feet.
Will someone please stuff a sock in Cat's mouth? Or put duct tape over it?

I'm cracking up over Blanca's weepy wimpy scenes, after years of seeing Diana Bracho only in roles as a antagonista.

I also thought it was hilarious when Julieta was telling Linda that she had gone to the seashore with a guy when she was younger, and RobPablo is going, "Wait, I don't remember any trip we took to the seashore." Oops! :)

doris and SpanProf, besides selling the ring I would have liked to have seen Marisol take the money from Ignacio and spend it on something "extravagant" for her and Frida.

doris, it is hard for me to see Diana Bracho as an antagonist since I have only seen her as the victim in "Cuna de lobos". Looks like I will have to try to catch her in one of her nastier roles..

tquir, thanks for the ages of everybody.

Carvivlie, I also think that Julieta and Robert are giving up way too much of their own power and autonomy. Their situation would make me run screaming In the opposite direction.

Jarifa, you whipped up a delicious treat for us, thank you!!

Diana, I too enjoyed seeing Gabi "in disguise" so he could eavesdrop... he cares so much for Dani, but right now, she is pining over a lost love...has she forgotten what she told Marisol...that she wakes up thinking about Gabi and wanting to know what he doing when he is away from her? Is it me, or does this not make much sense?

Carvivlie, yes, that look Tulio gave Frida and Aris was very obvious...and I also noticed Ana in the background catching that look too. It's only going to add fuel to the fire.

Hugo hasn't gotten his job back just yet. I hated that Cat told him he shouldn't be serving her...that's why he had a wife...so Doris, I do agree she needs a sock in her mouth...the dirtier, the better!

And I absolutely loved how Julieta got Linda to help out. Little brat...someone finally set those limits she said no one ever would put on her.

Jarifa, I know the "fall" must have hurt, but, ITA with you, it was definitely a keep. Now, Blanca was exaggerating quite a bit to get more attention from Robert, right?

Spanprof, I forgot about that. Juli telling Linda she knows what goes on at the beach with a guy. Rob's going to be asking more questions about that!

Also, how many pairs of matching pajamas do they own? I've seen at least 8 to 10 different patterns.

Jarifa, if Fuego en la sangre is ever rerun, try to catch a few episodes. That was the only role I had seen Diana Bracho in before this and it was quiet enough. Toxic somehow doesn't seem strong enough.

Carvivlie and RgvChick, I also commented recently that I was totally thrown off guard by the appearance of Dani's "one true love". Huh?? The writers took great pains to show us Dani's day and night dreams, consumed with Gabi and then poof, she's mooning over an old love.

I still have no use for Linda (or for oxygen waster Bruno). Marisol and Dani didn't turn bitter or nasty, although they were hurting, and frankly, likely more so than Linda. I have little tolerance for bratty, spoiled young women.

I saw Tulio's look at the children as well. But again, I have no affection for he or his wife. I've stiffened my spine and have no pity for either.

Diana

Diana, I just caught part of the first episode of "Fuego" on the YouTube Televisa Telenovelas channel. Diana Bracho hauls off and slaps Elizabeth Álvarez within the first 15 minutes. Yikes! With all of the familiar faces it must have been a fun one to watch.

RgvChick, ITA about Julieta getting Linda to help out. As long as Julieta is able to keep her cool telling it like it is, she will be able to keep Linda at bay.

Diana, I guess since Dani is 34 at some point she must have liked someone. Of course, now it makes sense why she is so awkward and confused as to what to do around guys. She's never had a boyfriend and never had told a guy she likes them. Hopefully Dani realizes now that she could have been with Ben if she had only confessed her feelings instead of run away and she now needs to go after Gabi.

Did anyone here watch ELCDLP? Is Benjamin in Mi Marido, Sergio in ELCDLP, the guy that was in love with Nora forever, then ended up with Letty?

Jarifa, I'm laughing as you just described Diana's performance pretty much throughout FELS...Of course Adela Noriega got it much worse than Elizabeth or Nora Salinas. It was a bit slow in parts but my Eduardo was in it so needless to say, I watched every second :)

Carvivlie, I'm wondering if something will happen and Ben won't make it to the altar? The actor is fairly well known and doubt they would have cast him for a bit part. Just speculating...

I watched Rgv Chick and yes, the actor playing Ben was also in ELCDLP and ended up with Letty.

Diana

Diana

carvivlie in this world Dani's menopausal aunt is a virgin... just saying.

I love Gabriel, the chef hat, etc... "don't call me Gabriel but boss ... or jefito!" Made me laugh out loud.

I also appreciate all the attention given to the pain caused by JP's absence, and how it reverberates throughout the entire family.

I think David's mom is coming back. Just a guess.

Thanks Jarifa (and all the other recappers and commenters)

Thanks Diana for the possibility of Ben sticking around. I haven't seen the actor before so didn't think much of it. That would string out the Dani/Gabi longer if there was another pursuer.

Thank you Jarifa! That was wonderful recapping for 2 days worth. So what was this with Eugenio wanting to cut off Linda's hair? I don't get that and that to me seems very abusive and destructive. It almost reminds me of the old middle eastern or Greek traditions (I'm talking about 1st Century) of shaving a woman's head when they have dishonored the family...Very weird.

RGV Chick, yes I think the actor playing Benjamin in in Mi Marido is the same guy who played Sergio in ECDLP. I recognized him right away.

Cynthia, now the idea of a "the haircut" seems abusive now and crazy but back in the day of the last century when corporal punishment reigned it would not have been considered so odd. Eugenio is out of his century.
