Caer en Tentación #95, 2/19/18, Lunes:The Dominoes are in Place

Chapter 95: The Domines are in Place

Santiago tried to convince Raquel that this was a misunderstanding and that nothing happened with him and Alina. She refused to believe him, would not listen to him, and calmly told him to leave. More than once; also saying more than once that she never wanted to see him again.
Mia leaned over Damían as he told her he had killed Carolina as he tried to recall what happened when getting out of the car. She told him to calm down, telling him that Carolina was dead and no longer existed. The tone of her voice seemed to creep him out. He stared into her eyes and seemed to go into another respiratory crisis. Mia called the nurse over, saying that he was imagining things and getting upset. The nurse put her fingers on his carotid artery. Mia fled the room and went into the hall. Raquel came up and saw that something was wrong. Mia said that her father suddenly became nervous and when Raquel asked why she tried to leave. Raquel pulled her back, asking what happened and whether Damían said anything.
He talked about Carolina,” Mia whined, starting to cry. Raquel fell into that trap and embraced her daughter as though she were a child again.

Andres did his usual trick of pulling the “This isn't what it looks like” routine but Fernando wasn't playing that game. “For the nth time, did you kill Carolina Rivas?” he asked.
I'm not talking without my lawyer present,” was the answer.
Very well. Watch out. Watch out well because we are still investigating,” Fernando said. He then looked at Laura. “This is the last time I'm coming in here.”
He walked out. Laura at least had the sense to look ashamed.

Santiago went to see Alina, apologizing for being so early. She tried to seduce him into having breakfast, but he was not there for that. He wanted to talk about Juan because he was concerned about Lola. Alina tried to convince him that she had things under control, that Lola was being watched ust in case, and that her private eye and others would find Juan. However she could see that something else was bothering him and suggested they discuss it over a drink. She took a bottle from the fridge that looked like high-end Smirnoff. He should have stopped her.

Raquel looked at Damían, whose crisis appeared to have ended. She stared down at him, arms folded, and asked if he was better and he nodded, then asked “And you?”
Confused. I don't understand. Why were you not sincere with me? You would have left me. You almost did it. You almost left me. Therefore I'm confused because I don't understand why you decided to hurt me that much. And permit me to believe a lie while doing so much ill to all of us.”
He started to speak, but she interrupted him. “You understand that I get everything you are going to say, don't you? You understand very clearly that from now on you are not to speak to my children about your lover. Because if you speak to my children about Carolina, you will hurt them. You would hurt them, Damían. Do not talk to them about her. If you have a question or what to know what is happening, I am here.”
He looked crushed, like a child whose mother caught him doing a major misdeed. He looked as though he were about to cry.
Look at me. Look at me. Do you want to know anything about her? Do you want me to tell you anything you don't remember? There are many things yet you need to remember because you owe a lot of explanations, but tell me. Do you have any questions?”
She is dead,” he said, quietly.
Yes, she is dead. They found the gun, the pistol used to kill her. It had your fingerprints.”
He started to turn away from her. He suddenly looked ten years older.
Damían, Damían, it's important that you remember.”
When he hesitated Raquel rose and started to leave. He called her back.
Raquel, Raquel..” She turned around.
You will not hurt me again,” she said. “You will not hurt us again. You will not hurt anyone anymore. You will not hurt your children. It is not fair. It's not fair! I will not allow it! You will not hurt us anymore!”
The nurse told her she needed to give Damían his pain killers. He looked to the other side, defeated.

At the catering hall Raquel asked whether Carolina was in but was told she had not. She had not called. She sent the assistant back to the kitchen and took out her cell phone to call Carolina. Carolina looked at her phone and hesitated. Finally she answered and told Raquel she would not be in that day. She said she was alone. Santiago entered the room, telling her he would go to get Florencia. Carolina reluctantly said she would be in and ended the call. Santiago asked her what this was about, as Carolina told him that Florencia had complained that she didn't have enough study time because of this job. She said she couldn't go on like this any more. He told her they would find another solution if he could not convince Florencia to return, then told her not to worry. She looked as though she wished she were anywhere else.
Santiago called Florencia who told him to talk to Carolina about why she didn't want to continue.

Nicolás tried to get Federico to talk about what what going on but Federico didn't want to. His asthma acted up again and Nico noticed that it had been a while since the last time. He used his inhaler but seemed to have emptied it completely. He then threw it away in frustration.

Carolina parked her car in the city and got into Damían's car.
What happened?”
Federico said horrible things to me,” she told him. “He reproached me. Florencia knows something. She suspects us.”
Do you think I say something?”
I don't know.”
I spoke with Federico. He wants us to end all this.”
That's the right thing to do. We should have done so long ago.”
To end all this we would have to talk now with Raquel and Santiago. It's the only way we can be happy. It's the only thing we can do and you know it.”
It's all I've been thinking about. If Florencia sees me as she does I don't want to think about how my children will hate me. How am I going to get out with any dignity after all we've done, everything that's happened, the hurt and above all all the lies we've told?”
We can't forget that. We have to talk to them now.”

While consuming however many drinks Alina talked about how she understood Raquel because she would be just as jealous in her place. Of course she began the flattery once again only to confuse him by returing to the subject of Lola. He started to talk about it but decided he was there late enough and had to leave. He put his mostly finished drink on the counter and said goodnight. Nothing appears to have happened.

Florencia was walking home. She ducked into a doorway at the sound of footsteps behind her. A man in a hoodie walked past her. She stood up straight, got out her keys, and started to unlock the gate.
Hello, Florencia. I've been waiting for you.”
She looked up and saw Juan.

Miriam found Andres in her living room. From her reactioni it was irregular for him to just walk in at that hour. She asked “What are you doing here?”
Just visiting my adored aunt. It's been awhile since you've been to my house,” he said, getting close enough to kiss her. Which she clearly did not want, as she put up her hand to stop him doing so.
What's wrong? Are you afraid?”
We need to talk about the money Damían had the night of the accident because it never got to its destination.”
You talked to Rueda, didn't you?”
He's my lawyer.”
He's a traitor. I don't know what he told you but they were lies. That drunk was blackmailing my cousin.”
Andres, I need to know why you are lying.”
I'm not lying. It's business. Only business. The information isn't in your hands because if it were it would work against you.” She looked shocked. “Now that Damían is the way he is I will protect you. Believe me. I'm going to the bathroom. Wait.”
He walked past her and she took out her cell to call Federico to tell him not to come over that day.

Antonio told Vicente that there was no reason for the department to put him in protective custody. Vicente was sure that he would be killed otherwise. Antonio laughed, saying he was lower than Garrido; who would want to kill him? Vicente then said he would talk. He was sure Garrido heard him say that he was meeting Damían to get money from him. Antonio accused him of being at the accident scene, but Vicente said he only went there after hearing about the accident. This was nothing new, so Antonio said he'd talk to him the next day. Vicente asked him to wait. Antonio returned and demanded to know who killed Carolina. Vicente did not answer. After two more repeats of the question Antonio told him that he had better sleep that night because come morning he wouldn't be able to escape the interrogation. He then went to his office, leaving Vicente to pace his cell like a caged animal.

Santiago tried to call Raquel but got her voice mail. He said for the nth time that he wanted to explain what really happened and that he loved her. Finally he said he loved her and please call him when she got the message. As he ended the call he saw that Nicolás was in the room. They started talking about the alleged infidelity with Alina.
You know me; I not capable of doing such a thing. I love Raquel. Alina was with you. How could you think such a thing?”
But, Dad, I know Alina,” said the boy. “I know her better than you, and she can be very persuasive.”
And I'm your father. Do you think you can't trust me?”
That's not what I thought, but you lied to me now.”
That was to protect you. It's about your sister. I know I've made a mistake. I'm sorry.”
You know what? Mother lied to me. It's the same. She deceived me.”

Fernando went to the Becker house to talk to Cinthia. She did not look very pleased to see him.

Federico was in Luz's bed. She seemed to have had a better time than he had. His mind was elsewhere, but he didn't want to talk about it.

Fernando took Cinthia back to his bachelor pad and apologized for his earlier behavior. He had wanted to save his marriage but now that it was over he was looking to allow himself to feel something for her. They ended up on the dining room table. However, Laura was calling his cell. He ignored it.

Raquel lay in bed. She took off the necklace Santiago had given her, put it on the nightstand, and stared at it.

Andres argued with Rueda, who felt he had gone too far. Rueda was looking to protect Miriam from what Andres had done while they also argued about Vicente, whom Andres now sees as a nuisance. It wasn't Garrido Vicente had to worry about.

Jovita woke up Raquel because the nurse needed to talk to her.

Santiago and Antonio talked about Juan. Juan had not physically harmed Florencia but he had her deliver the message that “If he could find me he could find you [Lola] at any moment.” Antonio told her to go to the station and file charges so they could arrest Juan. Lola apologized to Florencia, saying it was all her fault this was happening. Florencia told her it wasn't her fault, then saying she had to go. When Lola left the room Florencia confessed her prior feelings to Santiago, which embarassed him a little. However, she also told him to fight for Raquel. However, when she wished him happiness and he hugged her goodbye it sounded a little too final.

Damían lay in bed and hallucinated seeing Carolina. He said “Carolina, forgive me.”
It was Raquel who had walked in.
Why are you asking forgiveness?” she asked.
Because I could not avoid it.”
So therefore it was you? Was it you?” She went to the side of the bed and leaned over. “Do you know with whom you're talking?”
He looked up with tears in his eyes.
I'm Raquel. I'm not Carolina. You shot Carolina.” He started breathing a little more heavily. She touched his cheek. “No, I need you to get better. You need to remember everything. You know why? I need you to get well because you need to remember why you wanted to leave me.”
She gave him the evil eye as she left the room and returned to her own. She picked up the necklace that Santiago had given her and handled it.

Santiago sat up on his bed, unable to sleep. Raquel looked at her cell phone and saw that he had called. He picked up his, but changed his mind and put it back.

The following morning Santiago and Nicolás went out together. Nico wanted to find Juan, but Santiago reminded him that Juan was dangerous. There were police outside Juan's building. Santiago got impatient and they knocked on his door. His mother said that Juan was not there, but Santiago implore her to help them.

Azucena went to the Becker house to see Damían. Mia escorted her up to his room just as the nurse said he had completed his exercises for the morning. He asked to speak with Azucena alone; Mia and the nurse left the room. Azucena told him he was very much missed at the office. She told him he could always trust her.
Vicente,” he whispered. “The money.”
The money?” she asked.
The money wasn't there.”

He was remembering Vicente's anger at the money being missing. He began smashing the car windows with a hammer.

Thanks Urban! So glad Uni didn’t cut and combine tonight. Regarding your two question marks about dialogue: in the Damian/Carolina scene in the car Damian says “Tú crees que diga algo?” And in the Damian/Raquel scene I think Damian says “No pude evitarlo.”

More tomorrow. It’s still Monday here lol

Urban thanks, juicy recap.Bit by bit
Stuff is coming Out. I'm glad to see
That Raquel is not pullin no punches
With the Cheater. He put himself in
That predicament.He got caught with
His hand in a cookie jar that didnt
Belong to him, and it almost killed him. There was nothing good about what he did. I don't care how happy he thought he was.
Raquel really laid it out to him.
"You need to remember why you wanted
To hurt me". It's comin back to him.

Who shot carolina?(JR).Aaah the old
Memories. Greed was involved in that
Too. People wanting money and him wanting someone else's wife.

Andres and laura, nastily funny.And
He goes"This is not what it looks like". That was the stupidest thing
He could have said. "At least Laura
Had the decency to look ashamed".
Well she wasn't ashamed of all that
Fake news she was vomiting out. And
Purposely causing pain to people she
Wanted to stick it to. All bets are
Off, nando is going after who he really wants.Never eat on that table
Again.
Mia still playin the poor me game
And Raquel falls for it. Well she's
Dealing with her own stuff.

Will somebody please side slap santi
Why is he being so dumb where alina is concerned? Has he learned NOTHING
From his son? No! He's just as dumb. where she's concerned.

Ok, the memories they are a coming.
Could someone have stolen the money before Vinny got there? More ?????

Thanks Urban.

Thank you, Urban. Your recap was excellent and appreciated.

Mia seemed to enjoy telling Damián that Carolina was dead. She is one sick puppy.

I am soooo over the Juan threat plot line. They have overplayed their hand with it and now it is just boring. So, Florencia on her way out finally admitted to loving Santiago and had to kiss him on the lips before she left. Yuck!

The scenes with Raquel and Damián were the best.

Si, Andres may have seen too many bad movies. I almost laughed too until I realized how he probably loves to gaslight people.

Mia sbsolutely did seem to enjoy telling Damian that Carolina was dead. She truly was not considering how that would affect his recovery. However, one advantage Damian has now is that he can see what his daughter really is. That is part of his punishment for his sins.

I hope the situation with Juan is wrapped up tonight, but I predict it will take until Thursday. The scene with Antonio at Santiago's house seemed like filler until the second part with Florencia telling Santi to fight for Raquel. I dearly hope that doesn't lead to him getting killed while saving her life or anything like that. Benjamin, Nico and Lola don't deserve to lose him.

Perfect title UA. Another incredible recap...

It certainly looks like Vincente did murder Caro. The scene was gruesome and hard to watch. But someone/others have had to have been there.

Mia did have a sparkle in her eye when she told Dam Caro was dead Jarifa and UA.

I liked Antonio and Cin together. Somehow, some way, they just seem to mesh.

Flor had to get the last word, err, kiss in, didn't she?? So who wants Santi? Raquel (who likely will even if she doesn't just this moment), Flo and Alina. Pretty impressive.

I have to say something here which few will likely agree with, but I feel compelled to say it. I am not a Damian fan. He has been a manipulative, lying, cheating character. But on the side of humanity, it is very troubling to me that he seems more a prisoner in his own home than not. I understand Raquel's anguish and hurt. But I wish her furious looks and comments could wait until he is a bit better physically. Mia is rubbing salt in the wound and nothing will change that. But Damian should go elsewhere to recuperate as his addled mind tries to heal. I'm not saying Damian shouldn't be accountable. But when I see his tears and his confused broken stare, I don't feel it's quite time for that. Yet.

I would also like the Juan drama to end. Quickly.

Thank you UA!

Diana

Thank you so much, Urban! This was definitely a crucial episode and I am glad we are finally getting full episodes too.

ITA about Juan. His romance with Lola should've developed more organically before turning into full blown stalker mode. It would've been more surprising, shocking and interesting than the cliche we have here. As it stands, they should've gotten rid of him sooner, like Miguel, instead of dragging it out until now. There are way too many important revelations afoot to deal with such little scum like him.

I also agree with Diana that Raquel, despite stating nothing but the truth, was cruel to Damian when he has no defenses and is struggling to get his health back. Damian deserves what he gets, but her excessive verbal punishment for him paints her in a worse light in my eyes. She seemed too spiteful and mean, just like Mia, and that rubbed me the wrong way. Mia, of course, was more than happy to tell Damian his beloved lover was dead and all he has was his "family."

I also think there is more to the accident. Vicente could very well kill Damian, and Damian could've shot Carolina, but there are way too many moving parts. Now throw in the money being stolen and oh boy. It's gonna be a long week.

Diana, Alfredo, that sure was a different side of Raquel. I would have expected a more measured “live and let live” response.

One thing is for sure, something snapped in Raquel. She lost a little bit of her soul during the affair (past timeline), though she didn't know it was happening, she could feel it, and that was enough to destroy the happiness she had fought back to get after her illness. The false pregnancy was also a deep blow and finally the affair.

You can almost see her becoming the woman she is in the past timeline, how unhappy she seems, and how everything she created crumbled right before her eyes. Santiago made her happy (and she could've gotten back to the Raquel of three years ago) but, after his mistaken trip with Alina, I think old, bitter Raquel is back. And Damian is all she has to take her anger out on.

Actually i think Raquel's actions are completely justified. This is an actress acting in the most Raw of emotions and i kind of like how she behaving towards him at his most vulnerable. He deserves all he is getting. He hurt his family so deeply and without no remorse. He never thought about their pain so why would she care about his. She has gone through way worse than what he is going through now.

I appreciate everyone's comments and perspectives.

I think we all agree how terribly Raquel was treated and the fact she is emotionally wounded.

There is just something vulnerable about someone who does not have the full capacity to process and speak. Alfredo, I think your remark that Damian "had no defenses" is well stated.

Jarifa, I was surprised and agree this was not Raquel's "best side".

Diana

Urban--A great big thank you. Believe it or not--I had to look up the plural of domino! I thought maybe it was like a certain Veep and potatoe. Ok, now I'm ready to read the rest of it.

I want to give Raquel the benefit of the doubt. She's just been "betrayed" by the man who said he would love her all the rest of his life. She's more than wounded. Damian now becomes the object of her pain.

It's going up to 70 today. Snow's gone, I can work in the yard, yippee. Will be back.

Alfredo--you'll have to wait for my flashback report, but since we're getting more flashbacks, I feel certain we'll get the whole thing pretty soon.

I lose any sense of time in most of these novelas and I admit I have not watched this one very carefully. Does anyone have any idea how far past the accident we are? How long was Damián in a coma?

They haven't really stated but, given how time has passed in the rest of the novela, I say we are past the 6 months but below the one year mark since the accident. I have to say I am impressed with how carefully they've they've treated Damian's recovery. Of course, it mostly for suspense purposes, but I'm glad he didn't die, didn't wake up from the coma in the last week and hasn't had a miracle recovery.

Thanks, Alfredo! I, too, have appreciated that Damián did not have a miraculous recovery.

I understand perfectly why Raquel is
Displaying this unfiltered anger. She
Thought he was the love of her life.
She trusted him with her heart and soul. And Then she finds out in the worst way possible. On His way out of
Town he's almost killed along with her
And if that's not bad Enough she got
Pregnant with twins. And Then she finds
This naked photo in his love shack, he
Bought her.I mean come on yall, he had
A whole new life with this woman who was her bff. She Thought. Their lives
And the lives of their children and
Santi and Carolina's children are up
Ended cuz these two people didn't give
A rats a** about the consequences of
Their bad choices. Raquel feels made a
Fool of, she feels dooped, her heart has been shredded into a million tiny pieces. And if thats not bad enough he
Is constantly calling out carolina's
Name and seeing her in their bedroom.
I know you want him to get well before
She lights into him, but you know what
Honeybun is gonna be fine, he shall bounce back. I am surprised that she has held it together this long. I see
His tears, and he is Having regrets up
The wazoo. And he's also probably seein
What an amazing woman he's married to.
But to late for that. That ship has sailed and he missed it.
The last thing on her mind now is a man, cuz santi seems to be dropping the ball abit. But I think they will
Eventually come back together. Raquel
Is not a mean person, she's mad and has
Every right to be, and Damian knows that.So let him cry and feel bad and heal.
He might be a better person after this
Just not with her. As for the kids, well everybody needs therapy on this show.

As for jaun: send him, change him, or
Kill him.Cuz that storyline is a waste of Air time.

And santi needs to stay away from alina. It seems to me he is very weak
Where this woman is concerned, why is
He having drinks in her house? It's
like brain goes limp around her. And he's wondering why Raquel won't talk
To him or listen. Didn't his son even try to tell him? Or not. O Well these
People.

I like all these differing opinions.

I like how Raquel is dealing with Damian. He deserves that and much more. She needs to express her feelings, thoughts and emotions to him. She needs to get it all out of her system. If she waits until he can "handle it" she will never get the chance because he will bully her, over-talk her and give her his feeble "it just happened" excuse, so that she will get frustrated and exasperated, lose control, and give up. She will then shut down and go into a tailspin and suffer another breakdown. No, let her get it all out and be able to move on. Damian does not deserve any consideration for his condition ... he didn't care about any one but himself before, so ... how does it feel, Damian? You made your bed, now ... well, you know the rest.

Jarifa: I've had the same thought as you for a while about the época actual timeline. But yeah I'd guess it's still under a year.

Raquel definitely exhibits signs of being bipolar. Perhaps it's bipolar depression, I don't know. Even when Damian was in a coma she would vent her anger and frustration at his bedside. On a few occasions we saw someone, most of time it was Santiago, remove her from the room/hospital. Damian's betrayal has taken a toll on her emotional and mental health.

I too can't wait until the Juan storyline is done with. Hopefully his mom is willing to cooperate and help Lola and Santiago.

I've had it up to here with Alina as well. Santiago gives her too much credit.

Thank you Urban for the quick recap of an important episode.

i join the minority and I am concerned about Damian's recovery and the setting he is in for it.

Make no mistake, what he and Carolina did to the rest of those around them calls out for Divine justice and even legal justice (e.g. divorce) but it should not, on a legal and ethical level, justify abusive treatment. If Damian had a legal advocate looking after his own well being he would not be recuperating an his home with his estranged wife, son, crazy daughter. So far there is only a hint of abusive treatment with Mia leading the pack but I fear that given his physical state he will be subject to even more, recurring contumely and contempt which will not help his recovery. Revenge is very satisfying emotionally but it can lead to cruelty even greater than the original transgressions and sins. No Damian needs to be in a rehab center. When he is well, then Mia, Fede, Raquel and Santiago, thorough a new legal team, can ship the Becker clan of their possessions. Anyone who has been through a nasty divorce knows that left alone in the same room, the aggrieved parties could kill each other when the past is dredged up.

Actually, I don't fault Raquel for her interaction with Damian. She went through years of not being told anything about what was going on at Legato, years of dealing with the consequences of Miriam's abuse of Damian, Miriam's abuse of her, and still having Andres in her life. She still hasn't seen Miriam gaslighting Mia, which -- now that I've typed that -- should result in Mia killing Miriam.

I'm surprised that Raquel kept it together through all that.

Miriam is the one that should be raked over the coals for putting Damian in his current situation. She wasn't thinking at all about his recovery; this was all about sticking it to Raquel for having the audacity to fall in love with a man who was worthy of her.

ITA UA. The only one that would abuse damian Would be his sicko daughter. She
Is the one that asked creepy granny to
Help get daddy back in the house and into her parents bedroom. When she get
Sick of him callin out Carolina's name she's gonna get really kookoo on her
Daddy cuz he's messin with her idea of a "Happy family". Little psycho twit.
This actress is Really good at pissin
Me off.The one thats playin Mia.I Hope
She got an award for her part.

Urban, great recap, thanks again, from Dominoes all the way to the end.

Isn't it interesting that NOW (in the very recent Pasado)Damian is urging Carolina to break their silence and tell Santi and Raquel. Something must have happened to have changed his mind and leave without telling either of their spouses. Caro has a lot more to lose, besides Santi and two near-adult children. She also has a two-year old. If they had told Santi, I'm sure he would have fought tooth and nail to keep Benji, although it's hard to say what a family judge would do in this situation with two adulterers being the parents and "Family" always wins the case. She also stands to lose her reputation and any means of support or livelihood, should Dam leave her in the future.

Damian doesn't have as much to lose. He's already a distant figure in the lives of his children, just running interference when Raquel asks him to. He's purposely grown apart from Raquel. He has plenty of money and his reputation will barely be tarnished--after all, men will be men. The scandal involving a business man and his wife's business partner will be forgotten as soon as some new hot mess comes to light with a prominent political family like in La Candidata.

Anita, to me what is heartbreaking (along with so much else) is that I do think Caro wanted to break off permanently but Dam refused. He was relentless. They survived without each other a year, it's a shame they couldn't let it be. I don't know if their marriages to Santi and Raq would have survived, but they might have had a fighting chance.

And I totally agree that Damian was not as invested in his marriage or his children.

I still can't believe that Caro left with him that fateful day.

Diana

P.S. Santiago is such a naïve babe-in-the-woods. He's completely oblivious to how attractive he is, both physically and personality-wise. He's been a one-woman man ever since he and Caro got together, but I bet he's left a lot of other swooning ladies in his path: Gabriela, Flo, Alina, Raquel and Anita (blush).

Gabriela was just in it for fun and games and to one-up Raquel; but she certainly didn't try her seductive powers on Agustin or Nacho. Santi was the more attractive one. Flo has done the right thing by leaving.

Alina is still trying, but her attraction has a dual purpose--to separate him from Raquel and to prove that she has what it takes to fell any man. I hope she loses on both counts.

Raquel is so hurt right now that it's hard to say if she will or when she might let Santi back into her life and her heart. We could tell from last night he still had a place in her heart. As for Anita--she'll just have to wait and see where he and his sideway smile go next and she will follow.

Diana--Maybe Caro was duped into thinking this WAS only a weekend in Miami. I bet once they got there--if they had gotten there--Dam would have said he intended them to stay there and start a new life.

At least now we know why he was on the road to Puebla that night--to deliver the money to Vicente, before taking off.

Oh, and Dam wasn't asking Caro to break it off, he wanted to stay together and tell their spouses--which was as good as ending a lot of things. Things he maybe hadn't thought through from Caro's perspective.

Yes, Dam's been the one who pursued her through all her attempts to break-up or desires to break-up.

"As for Anita--she'll just have to wait and see where he and his sideway smile go next and she will follow".

Love it Anita!

And yes, I want to see exactly what happened "that night" including exactly what Damian led her to believe as he lead her to her (unwitting) death.

Diana

Thanks Urban!

When Dam looked at Mia and said "tu", and over again, I was wondering if he was remembering seeing her at crash site.

Laura trying to get info from Andres in bed was Yuckie.

Even if Mia didnt kill Caro, Ela Velden should win Best Villain.

It takes two to make a relationship. Caro is equally as guilty as Dam. Even worse she acted like they were friends. At least Dam kept Santi at arms length as a business associate.

Am I the only one that wondered why Fede was going to Miriam's? I thought they were on opposite sides. Raised a red flag with me.

That last scene definitely makes it look like Vinc was on his way to killing Caro. He was crazed for the money. Was Azucena responsible for putting the money in the car and she didn't do it? Hmmmm. Could she have a part to play in all this?

Urban, Thank you for the amazing timely recap.

I have one more question about that night. When Damian and Carolina were on their way, we saw both Santi and Raquel at home in a very anxiety filled state. They both seemed worried?, anxious? they were not well, and Red herring or not Raquel had the suitcase, remember? so I want to know what led them to feel that way. Had Damian and Carol told them, had Fede said anything?, did they suspect something then? prior to the accident.

Many questions still remain, slowly being answered. Can't wait.

Carvivlie, I think that Miriam wanted to talk to Federico about his future at the company or something related. She knows from Rueda that Andres got in with some nasty and dangerous people; he advised her to cut and run. She doesn't want to do that.

Sandie, that's a good question. I think part of the answer will be in tonight's episode.

Is it possible Raquel was aware they were leaving, so she took Vicente's money and was the person using the legato car? Maybe in her dissociative state? Maybe Damian is afraid to say anything because she did it?

Love the theories popping up now, just like my bulbs in this uncannily warm weather.

Anything is possible. Carvivlie--I like the idea best that Mia was there and the "tu" was meant for her and not that he was conjuring up Carolina. That came later.

Sandie--You are so right to bring it up again. We can't allow ourselves to forget there's more to the story. The anxiety Raq and Santi exhibited the night of the accident and that doggoned suitcase. If they had anything to do with it, they weren't doing it together. Right after the accident, they each asked each other if the other one killed Caro. Raq, of course, said no; Santi gave the standard evasive telenovela question-answer, "Do you really think I could do something like that? I loved her with all my heart." If one of them was lying--then which one?

They both behaved like bereaved individuals who had suffered a great loss. Hidden might be Raquel's desire that Dam had died along with Carolina and Santi that he couldn't believe Caro *was* dead. Don't look for any answers here and now!

UA: I see that Fede got some with what's her face in the bedroom.

Anita: Vicente did bury Carolina after she was whacked. That man will either get killed in prison or spill the beans to someone else for killing his sister.

Anon: Raquel is stuck with Damian FOREVER.

Sandie: It seems that everyone in the cast had lots of reasons for wanting Carolina dead.

Another interesting factoid: Mia doesn't give Raquel the contents of the whole Damian statement. Why is she holding that back?

Alfredo--This is what I have for the accident in the very first episode:

In the first 2 minutes, we see Raquel come in her house, in tears. She's dealing with something big. Santi is, too. In their respective homes, Raq bathes, Santi showers and they each lie down in bed.

The accident--Caro and Dam are driving together. They pass the toll booth. Caro looks over at the car in the next lane and there is some recognition in her face. Before she can say anything, Dam pulls her in for a kiss. They drive on. She says she doesn't want to continue living this lie (so they must NOT have told Santi and Raquel themselves). Dam says, just give me two days. (That doesn't give them much time to drive to Puebla, deliver the money, get back to a major airport and go to Miami and haver some fun in the sun, sipping mojitos--unless Dam never intended to go to Miami. He did have her get her passport, though.)

At the moment of the accident, the car rolling over and over, Santi and Raquel both sit up in their respective beds, terror-stricken. Had Fede said anything to either of them so they had advance knowledge of the affair?

Dam and Caro's faces are bloodied, but they both have their eyes closed, unconscious. Ambulance arrives almost instantly. Dam is strapped down on a board and taken away to the hospital. Obviously GG didn't give us very much information on purpose. We didn't know that there was a time-gap between the phone call to 911 he made later and when all the action we now know about. We assumed the ambulance came right away and that stuck in our heads for quite a time.

The other flashbacks will take a little longer to find, but I promise to in the next day or two. My turn to recap tonight. Jar gets to do Thursday next week.

Thank you everyone for all the information. This is such a sharp group. Your memories and penchant for capturing all the details perfectly is more than impressive.

I don't know what to think at this point. I change direction every few hours...

Fede, just a staple character out of the limelight for most of this is now a central suspect. I too am very curious as to what he was to speak with Miriam about.

And the acting has been amazing. The actor playing Vincente is incredible.

Thank you, Anita! I had forgotten about Raquel and Santiago immediately waking up as soon as the accident happen. I agree that, since we are showed everything in rapid succession, there is no sure way to know until the writers and GG want us to know.

Sandie, thank you for reminding me about the suitcase. I always remembered Santiago giving the man the money, even though I knew it was more suspicious on purpose, but I didn't remember Raquel. I remember her being flustered but that was it.

I am pleasantly surprised, however, that this late in the game, this story still keeps us guessing.

Regarding Miriam and Federico, I think Miriam is scared of what may happen to her if Andres' dirty dealings come to light. It's like she finally got a big clue about who he is and how it can hurt her, personally. She probably wants to see how she can team up with Federico and save her own skin.

If anyone is interested and has netflix, the actor playing Vicente, Carlos Valencia, was also great in the series based on Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz. A very talented bunch in this novela and I can say that I don't think there is a weak link in the cast. Everyone plays their part perfectly. GG, like Carlos Moreno, has a gift for picking casts.

I saw "Sor Juana" but didn't recognize him. Thanks for the info.

Thank you Urban. Your recaps are so intriguing that it encourages so many to post their thoughts and sentiments as we try to figure who did the deed.

I am exhausted from building a case in my mind only to realize that maybe they were not the guilty person after all, back to square one.

By now the only ones I am certain are totally innocent are Lola, Nick and Benji. Everyone else is suspect.

I really really want to know why Raquel had suitcase and both were acting like they knew something was going to happen to their spouses.

I think it was unfair and unwise for both Damien AND Raquel for him to recover with the family and wife at his home.

You can't blame Raquel for lashing out at him, she is too raw with pain. You can see she is trying to go along because of selfish Mia, but she will have her moments of rage. Damien should be in a rehab facility until he is more functional. That way he won't be at anyone's mercy. Not a good idea at all.

Yes, Damians recovery is very realistic, unlike Sebastian Rulli, who was in coma for years. Yet he he woke up, he did a few stretches and was seen sprinting down the street. Hilarious.

This is so fun, I really enjoy all the well thought out comments. Everyone really expresses themselves wonderfully.
