Lado - Epi 41 Part 1 of 3

The Epi opens with….

• Alo and Ernie going over papers to help with Karina’s college. Alo thx Ernie and tells him perhaps she was wrong about him. The father/daughter embrace is interrupted when Paula walks in with Sen. Cummings. Alo flashes back to her initial encounters with the senator…who remember her but Alo states she doesn’t remember him…..or does she?
• Then….on to the police station where Eliza and Andreas are discussing recent developments and their past. We get to a point where Eliza thanks Andreas…telling him that all she has is due to him….and says what she has is not just hers…but ours in recognition of what they built together (I hope the magnitude of Andreas being by her side the past 10 years finally starts to sink in)
• Anyway, back the studio….Frida has a sincere talk with the producer. …who recently confessed his feelings for her. He’s willing to give her everything…money etc . He goes in for a kiss.
• Later back at home, Alo and Julian are talking in the kitchen when the senator comes in. She and the senator have an exchange and she’s a little sassy with the Sen. when talking about family ties ....not to Ernie. AT this point, Julian steps in to explain that she was adopted by a good family…almost revealing himself….so Alo questions how does he know that.
• Rich and Sofia discuss the situation with Lorena joining the team (I didn’t get the details)
• Lorena and Joel talk as she packs. She’s going to TX to find Sara. They argue over Sofia…Joel accuses her of being jealous…..she accuses him of not being able to forget Sofia.
• At the station, Carmen has brought the baby for Raquel to feed. Along with Eliza, the 3 women discuss family as the elder women try to encourage Raquel.
• Later that night, Alo has a dream about her stay at the Senator’ house…about finding the pics of the girls and how later she and her mom escaped. She wakes with a startle…. saying its “Es el..Cummings”.
• In the station lobby, Andreas, Santi and Tom…are discussing the Raquel situation when Eliza walks in with Max who’s come to offer his assistance.
• Cummings and Paula discuss Alo. .Cummings is concerned with Alo and that she’s not under control. Paula indicates that she will keep her under control…as well as Ernie.
• Later, we see Jen at the Dr’s office with Rod.
• Back at the station, Andreas and Max have a slight standoff as Andreas wont’ accept Max money/ help…and Max accuses Andreas of being prideful. The 2 men spare some and finally Eliza pipes in to defend Andreas somewhat, not everything thing is about money
• Alejandra and Ernie are in his office going over the project photos when Alo arrives. Alejandra, who as conveniently behind the desk picking something up off the floor, stays down for a moment as Alo confronts Ernie about Cummings.
• Still at the station, Eliza, Max, Santi and Andreas have been discussing the situation. Steve, who has been helping, comes from seeing the judge. He discloses that a toxi report was done and it revealed Raquel had drugs in her system (yeah right…now we know what Paula was up to)

Lado - Epi 41 Part 2 of 3

• Of course, the family is in disbelief. Steven indicates that the court can decide to deport Raquel. They will let Santi see her and get the baby.
• In his office, Alo tells Ernie what she remembers about Cummings as the team in the bat cave listen in. There is concern in the bat cave, that Alo could ruin things. When Alejandra finally stands up from behind the desk, Alo is surprised and expresses annoyance that Alejandra didn’t immediately reveal herself when Alo initially walked in the room.
• Paula and Cummings…continue their talk. Alo is a problem and they need to do something. Paula cautions about not starting an international scandal. Cummings indicates that he knows how to control Alo (we know what that means)
• Paula is pulled away from the conversation as a guy calls …apparently the one who falsified Raquel’s toxi report.
• Still in the lobby, the family is discussing things. Looks like deportation of Raquel is confirmed.
• Back at the Drs office, the Dr poses a question….initially Rod looks scared
• In his office, Ernie tries to calm Alo… he lies and lies and spins his tales about Sofie while defending Cummings character. But she recalls the pics of the girls. Ernie tells more lies which appear to convince her . He makes her doubt what she saw. She was young….the pics could have been of family. Also looks confused.
• While in the bat cave, Joel gets a call from Sofie who wants to know what Alo and Ernie are talking about. He steps out of the cave to talk with her…tries to calm her.
• The Dr continues his discussion with Rod. I didn’t get the details but I know there was some light hearted discussion that involved the internet. (If I missed something important….let me know).
• A visibly distraught Raquel is walked out by the cops . Eliza tries to intervene, goes off to the cops about injustice. Andres, keeping a cool head and concern for Eliza’s legal status, steps in to protect Eliza from herself, acknowledges that Raquel is to be taken away. Steve also walks up to intervene, as Raquel is taken away
• Later, having spewed sufficient lies to confuse Also, proposed that she comes to live at the house with him and Julian for a while. She doesn’t answer…but leaves as Alejandra come back into the room.
• Back at the Drs office.…Rod charms the Dr. as they discuss a cure for Charlie.
• Later the appears sufficiently convinced by Jen about Rod. Jen and the Doc are now on first name basis. She flirts with Dr … invites him to dinner to say thanks.....we pan to pics of what probably is his family
• Joel and Lorena discuss Sara and Jeffrey Foster She’s going to TX to find Sara. Joel cautions her to be careful.
• Back at home…the family discuss the situation with Raquel. Andreas, Steve and Santi are still working on it.
• Later, Alo comes home and is briefed about Raquel
• Ernie is still crushing on Alejandra as she goes over photos for the project.
• As Alejandra is questioning him about Alo’s conversation, Julian comes. He is struck by Alejandra’s likeness to Sofi.

Lado - Epi 41 Part 3 of 3

• Alejandra and Julian get acquainted. He opening flirts with her and almost reveals that he caused the accident when he saw walking down the street. Alejandra questions him some about the accident as the guys in the bat cave cringe that’s she’s going down that road.
• Later, Ernie, upset with Julian’s behavior in the office, calls him an idiot.
• Rich is concerned that Alejandra is messing up…that she’s all over the place…not concentrating on their primary objective. He asks Joe to admit it ....but it appears that Joel too is considering trying to implicate Julian in the accident.
• Back at Eliza’s…I miss the initial conversation that included the fact that Rod was with Jen
• At Jen’s house.....Max ask Rod about school. As Rod stammer, Jen steps in and helps to divert the conversation, neither wanting to mention the Dr visit…they boys are able leave
• Lorena, in Dallas, has followed a Sara’s trail to bar. When confronted, Sara asks her if she’s a cop.
• Back at home, Ernie continues to ride Julian about his near slip regarding the car accident. Julian, apparently convinced that Alejandra is Alejandra and much hotter than Sofia....continues to talk loose about her. Ernie warns him to stay away from her. Julian goes on and on…. I guess Ernie doesn’t want to lose another woman to his son so he bitch slaps Julian as a final warning.
• Julian…upset…says he was just joking. Ernie…lights into Julian about joking and all the problems….he’s caused. Julie strikes back with talk about all of Ernie’s drinking. Ernie gets lost again in Alejandra being Sofia….Julian looks at him like he’s lost it.
• Later, we learn that Richard has to go to DC for an emergency meeting and tells Joel to keep things under control while he’s gone…not knowing for how long.
• Back at the bar, Lorena is getting Sara liquored up to loosen her lips. Sara catches on and tells her she’s going need something a lot strong to go back down memory lane…and request bourbon.
• Back at the house, Eliza and Alo are catching up. The conversation turns to Ernie. Alo reveals that he’s asked her to come stay with her awhile. She’s considering taking him up on the offer so she can figure out the truth. (I’m still hopping she finds what she needs to bring him down)
• At this point, Eliza confesses that she went to see Alejandra. Alo asks her what she thinks…but we’ll have to wait for tomorrow to find out

Thanks, Nett...for your quick and detailed recap. So did Jen take Rod out of school for the meeting with the doctor? Love how Deadbeat Dad Max offered help as if it were a natural thing but Andres, the surrogate dad for the most part, declned his help ...that felt more like an attempt to win over Eliza. Re: Sofia/Alejandra, I think even if Eliza has suspicions about Alejandra she'll try not to get Alo's hopes up.

Enemigo #42

Tilapia visits Chamaco, yes he mailed his letter to Carla, but there was one for you, (really?) it's from Carla, Tilapia reads it, Chamaco's dream has come true, he dies.

Bauser's body falls out of a garbage truck at the dump.

Puna raps in the hole, looks like 10 more years for killing Mamba.

they're not finding anything in Pharisee's computers, Puenzo takes them to storage, Buitre pays his young guy (Hawk ??), who sneaks in and dumps acid ?? on everything.

Tilapia meets with Roxy, they renew their pact, they are in this together.

Roxy goes to see Zoraida, will make her queen of all of Dunas, not just the girls, in return, wants Guillotina dead, oh and wants to be there so she will be the last thing he sees, I'm not anybodies do-it girl, Zoraida says, but they do make a deal.

Nemesio calls Madre's secret phone, (it rings real loud, ha!), tells him not to mess with Roxy, Guillotina blows up, he runs this place and will do what he wants, Nemesio has heart problems after Madre hangs up on him, but later has Luis work on a plan.

Fermin comes to see Ochun, blames Roxy for Turco's death, wants her dead, he gives her something that is sensitive to light and sparks, put it in polish remover, turn on the light, it blows up.

Tilapia wants the warden to give Chamaco a funeral, at least let him leave the prison with some dignity, the warden doesn't cater to prisoners, Tilapia adds the public angle, it will make you look good.

Zoraida plops down in front of Roxy at dinner, wants to know how Roxy wants Guillotina to die, Roxy is nervous, also calls over Ochun to find out who came to see her.

Mendiola calls Roxy in to let her know the judge has signed the motion for hers and Tilapias release, but it wasn't him that did it, he wants some time to investigate, this may be a set-up.

Wow, Nett, thanks so much for this wonderfully detailed recap. I'm impressed both with how you managed to cover so much and also how quickly you were able to write and post the recap. It also called my attention to several things I hadn't noticed.

I enjoyed the scenes with Rod and the doctor. The doctor asked what Rod knew about the procedure, and a rather apprehensive Rod described a scary scenario involving a needle more than a foot long and other frightening details. The doctor said that yes, that's what the Internet says, but the reality is quite different. I confess that I was somewhat surprised and disappointed that the doctor didn't ask Jennifer again about permissions from Rod's parents. And I was a bit confused when the camera panned to the family photo. I wasn't sure just who was in the photo. All the people seemed to be adults, so was that just a photo of the doctor's parents and siblings? He certainly seems far too young to have adult children.

I found almost all the discussions involving Richard, Patrick, and Joel to be quite boring and repetitious. The best part for me was your referring to them as "the team in the bat cave"!

When Cummings and Paula discuss matters, he says that what troubles him most is Alondra. Paula warns him against trying to kill the daughter of the Mexican consul. He says he doesn't have to kill her, he knows of places so far away that even Jesus Christ couldn't find her. As far as Alejandra is concerned, he can deal with her later.

When Alondra tells Eliza at the end of tonight's episode that she's thinking of accepting Ernesto's offer that she come stay with him and Julián, she explains that she's trying to figure out what happened in her childhood. Was her mother the evil person her father described, or is he the evil one? At the very end of the episode, Alo receives a text message that says Tu madre era inocente (Your mother was innocent). I assume it came from Julián, but who knows?

excellent recap Nett! you have an interesting style that brings fresh flowers to the table.

I love Alo, she is no dummy, when pIrv Cummings was sweet smile drooling, she asked him if he would like a fist in the face.

that conversation between Andreas and Eliza, to raise the bail for Raquel which Steve guessed earlier to be between $20k-$50k, was about getting a loan on the bakery which is in his name, but he considers it to be hers, these two are joined at the hip.

taking Raquel away in handcuffs, disgusting, ok, they are making a big deal about breastfeeding, if Raquel is doing drugs, so is the baby, right? which they can test?

the Boys sure are worried about the Girls, Lore of course isn't one, I'm thinking she will crack the case.

yea, the not-even-high-school-mature Julian blames his faults on the genes of his drunken father, who throws in the part where his real mother was crazy.

so Sofia comes home with some stuff, is that a new phone, why would she need another (perhaps anonymous) phone?

"LADO":

Deb: Lorena going to crack the case ? She better be careful since Trujillo 2.0 (Cummings) has cronies all over the place.

Juanita: Raquel getting deported back to certain death in El Salvador was NOT shocking! Looks like we'll NEVER see her again for the foreseeable future.

Nett: You've really outdone yourself in this recap!

Lado

Excellent recap, Nett. I especially liked your aside about Eliza realizing that Andrés was always there for her.

I'm a little confused about Sara Foster. I am assuming this is the child that Cummings abused and had an immigrant lynched for the crime. I expect we're seeing a PSA about the psychological harm of child abuse. Sara appears to be drinking a lot and looking very scruffy, despite having wealthy parents.

Julián was absolutely disgusting in his behavior toward a much older woman who looked exactly like his step-mother. I'm losing hope for his redemption.

They are just torturing us with Alo giving her father a pass on everything.

It certainly seems as if J-Low is planning to seduce the doctor to get him to overlook needing Eliza's permission. He NEVER should have even had that meeting with Rodrigo to explain things without EITHER of his real parents present.

My TV isn't big enough to notice who is in a photograph on a credenza without my getting up off the sofa and standing right there. It is HD and my son carefully measured things before giving me the TV for Christmas a couple of years ago. But I insist that a TV fit in my much-loved pine entertainment center. I am constantly frustrated when TV shows advance the plot by showing texts on someone's cell phone.

Anyway, I thought, in context, that the doctor is married and that was his family. If that was the case, I doubt they'll have that get in the way of the seduction.

They were taking Raquel to a detention center, the same place they took Benny's father, as they mentioned. I think there will be some time before the actual deportation takes place. My God, coming up with a fake drug test is SO awful. And Steve has been absolutely useless throughout.

novelera, I second your complaint about shows showing important texts on people's cell phones without providing another way for viewers to know what the message said. Much of the time, I have no idea, even though I too have HD reception on my television. I did catch the message at the end of last night's episode, but only because I was watching a recording of the show, and I was able to go back, play the relevant part again, and freeze the screen when the message appeared. And not even that helped with the photo in the doctor's office. But from what I could see, all five people in the photo looked to be the size of adults, not little kids. I would imagine that someone as young as the doctor seems to be would not have adult or almost adult kids. I guess we'll find out eventually.

I too was surprised at how ineffectual Steve was in dealing with Raquel's situation. It seems increasingly clear that the only male who deserves to be with Eliza is Andrés.

"ENEMIGO":

HALIMACANDY: I knew the poor kid was a goner the second he got stabbed in the left eye like that.

"ENEMIGO":

HALIMACANDY: Puenzo needs to MAN UP & save his wife & kids because I see that he is setting an eventual trap for Alex.

Deb: I'm surprised neither Alex, Olivia, the Federal Police Commander & Co., have NOT figured out Puenzo is dirty & the cousin of one of the Drug-Lords.

"LADO":

Novelera: Give up on Julian. The uppity spoiled rich bastard is a LOST CAUSE.

Only death is the ONLY option for him in the end.

LADO

I'd like to think that Julian can be saved. I think that Ernesto, unintentionally, beat some much needed sense into Julian's head yesterday. Its not completely Julian's fault that he's a sheltered, spoiled, rich kid who can literally get away with murder. For the most part he was raised w/o motherly guidance which is clearly what the brute needs. And he not only needs redemption (for the hit and run) but salvation from the corrupt "parental" figures (alcoholic dad and whore/sex trafficker Paula). They not only covered for him but failed to teach him a lesson. That beating from drunk Ernesto (and more exposure to the good guys) should slowly open his eyes to just how UNPRIVILEGED he really is. He spoke well of Alo's other family and seems to be one who would side with the women if he knew how they (and probably his mom) have been abused.

If Ernesto continues to force him to submit to his corrupt lifestyle, Julian could, or should, end up supporting Alo/Sofia/Karina instead. Telling what he knows may put his life at risk (who's life isn't at risk?) but it may save a loved one and redeem him.

Spanish Student, I see your point. Juanita also mentioned a day or so ago that she often sees the young man Julián has the potential to be shining through. He clearly cares for Karina although, of course, young guys that age aren't much good at waiting for sex. I just couldn't stand him coming on to "Alejandra".

Lado

Novelera, I understand your point and fortunately I missed the details of the flirting, but i doubt Ernesto would have cared if he wasn't doing the same thing w/Alejandra. After tonight's episode, with another threat from Ernesto to withhold credit cards, etc., i wondered if that would be Julian's main challenge..,to leave behind those corrpted "privileges' for something or someone more valuable. But he'll surely have challenges ahead. I personally can't wait till Alo finds out about him and Karina.

LADO - #42 – VIERNES – Parte 1 de 2

Eliza and Alondra are talking. Alo gets some texts, one saying Sofía was innocent and another that Ernesto lies and don’t believe what he says.

Joel shows up to talk with Sofía. [I know it’s plot development, but who grabs up someone else’s phone and reads their texts?] We realize that Sofía sent the ones to Alo; and Joel accuses her of messing up the whole team’s work. Sofía: ¡No soporto ver como Ernesto engatusa mi hija! (I can’t stand seeing him cajoling and beguiling my daughter like that.) She also mentions that he’ll turn her into another Julián.

Charlie and Rodrigo are in a tent somewhere. I suspect it’s the new house Max bought, although I suppose it could be Eliza’s house as well. They are pretending to be camping, one of the items on Charlie’s list. [I can’t help but melt toward Max when I see how great he is with these two children.]

I’m not going to spend a lot of time on what happens next. Jennifer seduces the doctor and we see that she’s filming it, doubtless to blackmail him.

We see several long and very interesting scenes with Lorena and Sara Foster, while the stereotypical country music plays in he background. After a couple of drinks, Sara states she was raped at the age of 7.

Ernesto, at home, is pretty drunk. He tells Paula he plans to be President of Mexico. She’s thrilled at his enthusiasm until he refuses the first ladies she’s suggested and tells her it will be Alejandra Miranda. [This really is a nutty plan. How could he think he could marry a woman who looks exactly like his second wife who, furthermore, was a criminal in the eyes of his countrymen?]

Joel reminds Sofía that Ernesto is after her, husband or no husband. The two spar about why he’s there when Richard and Lorena are both out of town and how having been to bed together before was the worst mistake of both their lives and…. the inevitable happens and they jump into bed.

Ernesto expounds on his fantasy. He tells Paula it will be like an old movie where the two leads hate each other at first and then can’t stay apart. He tells her he’s in love with Alejandra and that she couldn’t possible understand because no one ever loved her! [Whoops! He’s poking the bear here!]

Alo breaks Viewerville’s collective heart by telling Eliza that maybe Sofía wasn’t telling the truth about Ernesto, that maybe he’s the innocent one. She tells Eliza she’s going to live with her father and find out the truth.

Lorena shows Sara the photo of Cummings and gets up to leave when Sara tries to hustle her for money. Before Lorena is out the door, Sara says: “Irving Cummings, Sheriff of Lancaster Texas, was hard to forget; only bourbon doesn’t smell like him.”

LADO - #42 – VIERNES – Parte 2 de 2

Charlie brings up Universal Studios as a place to climb mountains and realize some of his list. Max says he’ll take them.

Sara tells Lorena she pretended to be one of the children of a woman who worked for her father. Cummings said he’d take her home. She was playing at being his deputy. “Then he did to me what he did to the undocumented little girls. He looked into my eyes with hatred while he did it. And he told me if I said what happened he’d send my parents to jail.”

Paula reminds Ernesto what she’s done for him for 20 years. Eyes at half mast, he asks her if she’s going to kill Alejandra. She says she got the rocks from his path with Claudia and with Sofía. And, if he makes her, she’ll do it with Alejandra.

Tomás and Frida are in another hotel room. At first they are both too conflicted to make love, as Frida remembers what happened with Johnny. But eventually they do.

Sara tells Lorena she also has to drink to forget what she did to Jesús Carranza, whom she calls Chucho. She tells about his being brought to the center of town to the tallest tree. And a rope was put around his neck. How he said that he couldn’t have done that to Sarita. But she didn’t speak up. Finally she says she’ll tell her story (thinking still that Lorena is a journalist) for $1 million.

Joel and Sofía have some pillow talk. He says he doesn’t know what will happen with the two of them, but he can’t keep deceiving Lorena. He has to tell her.

Steve is talking with Eliza about Raquel. Meanwhile, Santiago has told Carmen that he can’t go to Mexico [guess the writers forgot she’s Salvadoran] because he made a big mistake with some gang members and was forbidden to leave LA for 5 years.

In the bakery Steve is almost ready to spill the beans to Eliza about Jennifer’s plans for Rodrigo when Max bursts in and makes a jealous scene. Max behaves like a complete ass, and we see that Eliza is turned off by his behavior. Steve finally loses it and tells him what he thinks of what Max did to Eliza 10 years ago. Max tries to hit him but Eliza steps between them. After Steve leaves, Max tries to convince Eliza that Steve, as Jennifer’s brother, can’t be trusted.

The next morning Ernesto is hung over and can’t seem to remember all the things he said to Paula.

Karina doesn’t want Ernesto to pay for her to go to college. She’s sad Alo is leaving, but the two of them embrace affectionately.

The last scene is of Paula turning to Cummings for help with Ernesto and Alejandra.

Mi Familia #10

Erica goes to Gabriela, the pimp turns, Patas lunges, the gun goes off, Patas beats him into the ground, the police show and Patas slips away.

Marisol and Genesis show up at Santi's place, Mari believes him and wants to help, they talk, he did steroids in Colombia and was kicked off the team, and there are other secrets that are not mine to tell.

Ed won't tell Julian who his new patron is.

Rosa finds out Ashley's dad was Mexican and asks why her family hates us, Ashley leaves, Marcos calls and wants to see Rosa, she packs up the truck heads home to change and they meet at a fancy restaurant, the doorman asks for Rosa's ID, her ID doesn't look like her, ha!, Marcos slips him some money to smooth things.

new coach at practice, Marisol wants all te players to stand together for Santi, Penelope has convinced Sandy to stick with her.

we learn Ashley's mother has taught them to hate their dad and everything about him including Mexicans.

Erica comes by late, waits in her car for Patas, has fixed it for Lili to come back, thanks him for jumping in front of her when the pimp was about to shoot her, that's the best thing anyone has ever done for her, Ashley spots them in the dark car.

hmm, the men talk business while the women wait across the room, Rosa doesn't get this and interrupts Marcos only to be whisked off to the ladies room with the girls, she asks if the other men are in real estate too, it's obvious Rosa is the only one that doesn't know what is going on.

Marcos walks Rosa to the car, a driveby shooter kills, Rosa, wait, Eddy is having a dream, tells himself she has to get away from that guy.

it's morning and time for Lily to go home.

Rosa doesn't want Marcos to take her home, he wants her to stop lying, ok, she's poor, he could see that, why the fake ID?, she is undocumented.

morning chaos at Patas house, but Ashley is gone, she visits Erika at the office and calls her on trying to steal her man, wants her to stay away from the family, will complain to her supervisor, get us another social worker.

Enemigo #43

they have a wake for Chamaco, Madre says a few words and spits on him, Tilapia is at his throat, the guards break them up.

Buitre, who is holding Puenzo's family hostage, tells him to get the Capitan to a certain park.

Puenzo tells Alex an informer has told him where Buitre will be, the guy who killed Marimar Alex asks, yep, but Alex puts together a secret team.

Zoraida is watching "La Dona" Mamba's novela, when Ochun shows, she wants some polish remover, Zoraida tells her, I don't know what you are up to but don't let her live this time.

Roxy sees Ochun slipping out of her cell (after rigging her bomb), checks her cell phone, yep, and sees nothing out of place.

Alex and team go to capture Buitre, alive, Buitre sends his men to get Alex.

Buitre's 3 guys have the drop on Alex, but to the side Puenzo yells "police", as they turn they are all gunned down. (Puenzo is so screwed, plus Alex wants him to get everything from his informant, flashbacks show us Puenzo killed him a while back)

as everyone returns to their cells Roxy stops Ochun, when I get out I will make sure you mother is taken care of, not for you but for the friend I used to have, later as Roxy enters her cell Ochun appears and throws her out, then trips the bomb.

Mendiola suggests they protect Roxy, the warden lets Puma out, (is the wall bloody where she has been banging her head).

Puma says she wants to die, go to hell, and kill Ochun again.

the warden calls in Roxy, will have her sleep in a secure cell with 2 guards tonight, leaves to take a call, Mendiola tells her she will be out in a couple of hours but he can't spring Tilapia because of murder investigations, it will ruin his career, plus in a couple of days he will be deputy Attorney General, which will work for all of them.

novelera, this is one of the best recaps I've ever read. It's wonderfully clear, concise, and complete. And I loved your on-target parenthetical (or bracketical?) remarks: the stupid plot ploy of reading someone else's cell phone; Ernesto's insane plan to make Alejandra his new first lady; the confusion between Mexico and El Salvador, etc. And thanks for explaining about the camera in J-Lowest's bedroom. I'm embarrassed to admit that it didn't occur to me that she had put it there to blackmail the doctor if he didn't go along with what she wanted.

I was interested to see that Tomás was present when Santiago told Carmen about his getting involved with a gang and being arrested. Though the judge didn't send him to prison, he did sentence him to two years of community service and forbid him to travel for five years. Tomás seemed to be reading, but he was clearly paying attention to Santiago's account (a good example of un ojo al gato y otro al garabato ?).

Again, ¡muchísimas gracias!

Juanita: Not shocked about Alondra living with Daddy Dearest. She's been brainwashed!

I gave up on Alondra when she started bashing Sofia.

Spanish Student: Rafael Trujillo 2.0 (Cummings) violently rapes underage girls. OMG!

Something tells me Sara Foster won't be long for this world because I'm sensing Pastrana will be lurking in Dallas.

wonderful recap novelera! it is so nice you are back and recapping.

hmm, I think Friday's chapter is #43

you should have been with us for "Sangre de mi Tierra" the psycho husband would grab his wife's phone whenever her back was turned.

I was confused about the second message, I don't think Sofia had time to send it.

wow I missed the camera in Jen's bedroom, the woman in white, although it looked like she was the aggressive one.

Ernesto, "poking the bear" ha!, Paula is the brains here and yet she is forced to walk 10 paces behind the men.

sad story Tomas and Fri, after a false start, I think she said, make love to me like the first time.

this thing with Santiago getting arrested, they showed that earlier, right, and Andreas had to go get him, it was a good earful for Tomas.

Lore is sure good at what she does, but I kept waiting for her to play the sympathy card..., Cummings is still doing this, can you help us stop him.

good catch on Raquel not being Mexican, although she could ride the train again, yep, bad joke, getting deported seems to throw you back into the fire, with no future.

interesting that Sofia told Joel, she is not interested in Cummings, she wants to take down Ernesto and Paula, hmm, and with Cummings threatening to take Alo.

Juanita, that's a perfect example of our new expression: un ojo al gato y otro al garabato!

Deb: Sofia will need to bring down Cummings.

Enemigo:

Thanks for the excellent recap, Deb. In a way, Ochun and Puenzo are similar. Both have divided loyalties, and are not really bad people (well, maybe Puenzo's bad), and have to do things to keep themselves and their family alive. Ochun was being ordered around by Zoraida, by Turco, then Fermin, by Roxy. She knew her life was going nowhere, and the compassion shown her by Roxy led her to save Roxy, who in turn promised to help her mother. Puenzo's situation is different, of course, but he's also caught between various powerful groups. And it seems he just can't seem to kill Alex. I wonder why he doesn't contact the Oscuros and maybe they can save his wife and kids from the Mil Cumbres. He's running out of options. Olivia is a little suspicious, Alex wants to question the informant (who's dead), I can almost see him sacrificing himself just like Ochun (maybe if his family lives).

I was sort of amused that Cordero says search all the cells. Why don't they ALWAYS do that? They'd find knives, cellphones, money, drugs. It's ridiculous how much freedom the inmates are give, they have TV's, the women and men are often together (or at least divided just by a little fence). I know, the inmates like Madre have intimidated the guards, even the warden, but really! And of course they never think to TRANSFER anyone, which would solve lots of problems (but would of course mess up the drama of our show).

I also didn't see why Alex would just stand around by himself when they expect Buitre and his men. Wouldn't you sort of hide behind a tree? Of well, there are a few perks at being the stars of a telenovela (Alex and Roxy), mainly, you can't be killed no matter how impossible the situation. Both stars escaped this week.

The show is really intense, these last few weeks should be good!

Enemigo:

Deb, thank you for a great recap. It was concise, yet managed to capture every single important thing on this show.

I don't understand why Ochun tripped the bomb. She could have just informed Roxana about the bomb and then simply removed it from the light source. Instead, she chose to trip the bomb knowing full well that she will die in the process and I just can't understand why. She didn't seem suicidal, had no reason to kill herself, was going to finish serving her time relatively soon and had her mother in Cuba to think about. Also, it seems very unrealistic to me that she took such a shine to Roxana in the very short time they knew each other, that she would choose to off herself to not to harm her.

The other one with dubious motivation is Puenzo. Surely he understood that Buitre will kill his wife and children if something goes wrong with Alex's assassination. So why did he save Alex? And why didn't he just confess everything and let Alex and his team at least try to save his family? Oh well, maybe he will come clean in the next episode.

Hombre, in real life prison, the would transfer inmates like Madre immediately after starting to see the signs that he is gaining too much power and could become a problem later on. No warden would have allowed an inmate to get even close to accumulating that much power.

Novelera, thank you so much for another wonderfully complete recap. I loved your asides, especially this one :"This really is a nutty plan. How could he think he could marry a woman who looks exactly like his second wife who, furthermore, was a criminal in the eyes of his countrymen?]".

I also thought that it was the most ridiculous thing ever. Ernesto is supposed to be this super-smart villain, who managed to run a very successful crime syndicate all while having a meteoric political assent. Sure, Paula helped with both the criminal and the political, but he is definitely not stupid. So, how can he come up with such a complete and utter nonsense is beyond my understanding.

I seem to repeat it like a parrot in every comment, but I hate hate hate that Max. I wanted to throw something at my tv when this cheating cowardly bastard humiliated Andres, the guy who saved his family after Max abandoned them and I was fuming and throwing things when he had the gall to berate Eliza and make jealous scenes. By the time he was trying to beat up Steve as was so furious I wanted to grab him through a tv screen and shake some sense into him.
He has absolutely no right to be playing the poor offended husband and it seems that Eliza is finally maybe starting to understand what a douchebag her bigamous husband is. If after how he behaved in this episode she will still want to make sweet love to him in their romantic love nest (i.e the house he took away from her 10 years ago, leaving her homeless and without means of subsistance), then she really deserves him and I am done with her.

I actually can't watch Max's scenes with the children without gaging. Sure, now he is great with the kids, but what about the fact that he abandoned them for 10 years without thinking for a second about their wellbeing? He only came back into their life because of a chance encounter with Eliza. And it's not that he couldn't have done it before. He knew very well where they lived, but chose not to.

Lado:

I hate Joel only marginally less then Max. Did you guys notice that even after witnessing Irving's conversation with Ernesto and Paula he didn't come to Sophia and apologise for not believing her, for treating her the way he did, for abandoning her and basically causing her to rot in high security prison for 8 years!

It seems that even now this nutcase thinks that Sophia is guilty, even after witnessing Paula's conversation with Pastrana and even after knowing that Irving is the real boss of child trafficking network and everything he told about Sophia is obviously not true.

Honestly, I can't understand Sophia for sleeping with him over and over again even though he either is dumb enough to continue believing that she killed his sister despite the evidence to the contrary or weak enough to not recognize his mistakes and ask for forgiveness.

In any case, I find this romance almost as nauseating as Max and Eliza's.

Julian is definitely beyond redemption now. He knows an innocent woman is paying for his crime and instead of being at least remorseful and horrified, he actually tries to seduce Alejandra. It is even more horrifying considering the fact that he was kissing Karina on the beach just hours before seducing Alejandra.

Hombre, always good to read your posts! interesting point about Ochun and Puenzo, Puenzo is so screwed, that was an impossible mission to get Alec to a place and time of Buitre's choosing, especially since there are so many other places to kill him, like at the Traidora Club, I think he should bite the bullet and ask Alex to save his family, of course he's toast.

Irene, nice to see your post too, Ochun, hmm, I think Roxy summed her up pretty well when she said she's alone, Ochun backed herself into a corner, I think Fermin said kill her or else.

interesting that Alex asked Tilapia to kill Madre, and he killed Kraken, Roxy asked Puma to kill Zoraida and she killed Mamba, so now I guess they have to wait till things cool down before they start a new cycle.

let's see, Roxy made a deal with Zoraida to kill Madre, Alex with Tilapia, Nemesio put Luis on the case, the Warden doesn't like him either, and if the Oscuros knew he was associated with the mil Cumbres, they'd do him, so what are the odds Guillotina makes it to the next season, he (Guillermo Quintanilla) didn't even make it through one season as Monica's (Fernanda Castillo) brother in "El Señor de los Cielos", so maybe the writers don't like him either.

except, Alejandro or Roxana have to be the ones that even the score, hmm, escape?, Roxy and Tilapia were talking escape too.

oops, the above post was me.

I see death as the only outcome for Julian.
