Chapter 27: Bait and Switch

Moving right along on D.F. Law:

Papá a toda madre Wednesday 4/11/18 Capitulo 60: Mauricio Crosses the Line--OR--Kika to the Rescue

At the "cooperative" meeting, Mauricio tries to explain that they have to think about how exactly to open the cooperative. The answers will come from brainstorming little by little. Mauricio tells them they have to be smart and do things well. Toño blames Mauricio for being the one in a rush and changing plans. Nerón is not happy either. Jorge agrees with Mr. López Garza that "Rome was not built in a day". Toño says they all know that already and also points out the deference and formality on Jorge's part towards Mauricio with Jorge addressing Mauricio as "Ud." and not "tú" when they are all supposed to be equals and Mauricio is no longer his boss. Mauricio tells Jorge not to shout at Jorge because nobody is the boss of anyone else. He finally gets Toño to shake Jorge's hand to restore the solidarity of the group. Nerón is antsy and wants to get home to Flor who is not feeling well. He thinks that she must be pregnant again. Toño tells Jorge and Mauricio that he is basically broke and he needs a job like now. He leaves, too. Mauricio makes a comment about how stressed out Toño is.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 4/10/18 Chapter 26: Carlos Confronts, Ale Stays WishyWashy, Ric Is A Brick

Isabel remains undecided and tells Alejandra to lay aside the paperwork while she reconsiders--for Luis's sake.  (I believe).

Carlos is the early bird who catches his worm of a cousin, Alan, in a host of omissions, not the least of which is that he spent the night of the bachelor party sleeping in the same hotel with the hooker that accused him of murdering her friend.  Why did he OMIT that information???? His personal life, sayz Al, is none of his beeswax.  Carlos mentions that his lawyer now, Leo, will be investigating Alan as a major suspect since Al decided to omit this bit of trivial pursuit.  Al swears one thing has nothin' to do with the other and he's got nothing to hide.  "--I hope not!" "--You are going to have to eat those words, you'll see!"

Papa A Toda Madre #59 4.11.18: Making Plans In All The Wrong Places

Or Giving Up Your Future for Love

Renee tells Mauricio that she’s not sure she wants to continue with the master’s program because she prefers to stay in Mexico with Anifer and Mauricio. Mauricio is shocked and goes to sit by Renee, who tells him not to make a big deal out of it, but he insists that the price for them being together is too high. He would love to see her every day but he can’t allow her to give up on her dream. Renee argues that a master’s program is too time consuming, and he needs to focus on his new company and Anifer, while she takes care of everything else. Mauricio nods but doesn’t think it’s a good enough reason so Renee reminds him of all the obstacles in her way since she started the master’s program. She makes it clear that her plan is to postpone the program, for a bit, but Mauricio begs her not to do this for him. Renee shakes her head and confesses that this is the first time she’s in love and she’s not willing to give him up. Mauricio smiles wide as Renee explains that he love is a lot more than simple butterflies because she loves him, truly loves him, and doesn’t want to give him up. Mauricio asks for a moment, stands up, and cheers loud enough for the whole cul-de-sac to hear. Renee runs to him and they kiss and hug.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 4/9/18 Chapter 25 Lunes: Priorities

Chapter 25: Priorities

Previously on D.F. Law:
  • Paula talked about how every good lawyer wants to work at Vega & Associates, but Carlos denied that on the grounds of philosophical differences. Paula nonetheless pointed out that it was lawyers from that firm who got him freed, which he agrees with and gives Alejandra credit that she perhaps did not earn. When he kissed Alejandra it was evident that she did not welcome it and wanted him to leave. He finally said he needed to go home and rest to have the energy to start working on his plans and said he would pick Alejandra up in the morning. She declined this offer, saying she needed to get an earlier start. He made a big deal instead of saying he loved her.... more than ever. She went upstairs and Paula turned to Carlos to make sure he understood that he had hurt her daughter badly. She told him he had to respect Alejandra's decision. He didn't understand so she spelled it out that her daughter had a lot of work rebuilding her life after what he had done. He said he had paid for this in many ways. She told him point blank that her priority is her daughter. He asked her to trust him, etc.

Papá a Toda Madre, Episode 58, 4/9/2018: Dead (Wo)Man Walking…and Talking…and Possibly Stalking… OR Night (Day) of the Living Dead

Alt Title: Chicken Soup for the BUSTED Soul!

At the Carbajal fortress (that can easily be invaded by a tribble), Renée explains to Noel that she grew up in a house that was her mother’s; and when her mother died, she thought it would be hers, but it turned out that the house is not under her name. When Noel tells her he doesn’t understand anything she is saying, he demands to know who the he** her mother is; so Renée blurts out, “Catalina Sanchez!” After Noel stumbles backwards and remains quiet, Renée questions why he remained quiet and if he knew her mother…
                                                                        Could it be?????
(So Renee, realizing this is going sideways fast, wishes she had brought Wookiee with her and makes small talk: So...you ever know Catalina Sanchez?) Noel tells her that she knows where the door is and not to get close. When Renée persists and asks if he knows Don Noel, Noel ( wonders if he should take out his saber but...) responds that if she doesn’t leave, he will call the police; so Renée apologizes and runs out. After she leaves, Noel uncovers his head and looks as if he saw a ghost. (Maybe the Ghost of Bunny Hopping Past? Wait, what the Dickens am I thinking? Or was he thinking, “May the Farce Be with You?”)

Por Amar Sin Ley, 4/6/18 Chapter 24: Carlos gets--out of jail, a photo op and a champagne lunch

Part 1 of 2
The Trial of the Century is Underway---or rather a hearing to determine whether Carlos has to remain in prison or get out on personal recognizance until the real trial. Suffice it to say that thanks to Leo and Rob's snooping around the hotel and finding the hotel emergency stairs near the room lacked security cameras; Carlos' casual demeanor upon leaving; his upcoming nuptials; Patricia not seeming frightened or concerned when room service arrived, and Juan's dogged determination to provide the toxicology report, Carlos is one step closer to temporary freedom. The toxicology report showed that Patricia, having taken sleeping pills which, Leo tells the judge, mixed with alcohol, could have caused her to choke on her own vomit. Sonia, the spiked-heeled public prosecutor indicates, indignantly, that there was no evidence of vomit anywhere, to which Leo chides her for not doing her homework because there was no pathology report. (CSI: Miami is shocked.) Leo feels triumphant.

Tono and Veronica go to Ernesto’s doctor. Tono doesn’t want to give his child medicine and suggests they try other methods. After a moment, he relents and agrees to give his child medicine, despite his reservations. The doctor asks them to trust him and then steps outside to answer a call. Once alone with Tono, Veronica begs him to please put their issues aside and focus on their children. Tono promises to make sure Ernesto takes all his pills and Veronica nods. She promises to be very mindful though and make sure he is doing what he promised.

Later, Tono goes to the pharmacy and gets the prescription filled. The pharmacist gives him a few bottles of pills but Tono thinks they’re too many for a small child. He opens one bottle, takes some pills out, and asks the pharmacists if he has any small, white mints. The pharmacist shows him a pack and Tono smiles as he shakes it.

Papá a toda madre Wednesday 4/4/18 Capítulo 55: Merry(?) Xmas To All--OR--Toño Can't Handle the Truth--OR--Nobody Knows Her Son Like the Mother Who Raised Him

Xmas Eve continues . . .

Nerón is entertaining Roberto this Xmas Eve. Roberto has come with gifts for everybody. Nerón leaves Flor and Robert alone to go get his gifts. They chit chat about about Nerón telling Robert to get a wife and maybe one with a child. Robert quietly expresses concern for Nerón’s health and asks Flor about it since Nerón seems to be talking about it a lot in the last couple of days. Flor looks concerned.

At Toño's parents, Christmas Eve is not too merry. Verónica reminds Toño that the only reason she is there is because of the kids and that the two of them are still separated. He gets sarcastic about what a sacrifice it must be for her to have to deal with all of his relatives. She makes it clear that is not the problem. Her problem is putting on a happy face so she does not ruin the children’s Xmas especially Neto's. They get into an argument about Neto and his medicine for his supposed ADD. Toño cannot understand how a doctor can see him only once and put him on medicine. Verónica explains that the doctor is an expert. It seems to her that Toño doesn’t take anything seriously. Toño argues it is not that. It is only that he has been on the internet . . . She scoffs at that. According to what he has read, the experts say that taking medication is the last option that should be considered. Before going with medication, you have to take a look at what is happening in the child's home, his environment.

In Kika’s suite, Jorge gets dressed quickly as Kika smiles. He stumbles to explain why he’s in such a huff, and just had a quickie with her, but Kika is more than happy to oblige. Jorge nods and explains that he loves “doing it” but doesn’t like “talking about it” because he had a very strict upbringing. Either way, he enjoys his time with her and Kika loves how fiery and passionate he is and how opposites definitely attract. She then sits him down and asks about how Lili and Baldo were born so he tells her how he cheated on Dulce, right before their wedding, and got Yuriria pregnant. Kika nods and asks if he still loves Dulce; Jorge admits that he would regret marrying Dulce if it weren’t for his children, Samuel, and Valentina. Kika then asks if he still loves Yuriria but Jorge doesn’t want to talk about it. Kika insists, since she’s a “cool girl” and Jorge admits that she is the love of his life (but doesn’t reveal that she’s passed cause ‘drama!’) and kisses her goodbye.
